THERE ARE 2 POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEMS THAT THIS VEHICLE HAS, WHICH APPEAR TO BE COMMON, BASED ON COMMENTS FROM 2 OTHER FAMILIES WE KNOW WITH THE SAME PROBLEMS IN THE SAME VEHICLE, A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE LOCK BUTTON ON THE REAR VAN DOOR GETS STUCK AND APPARENTLY THE ONLY WAY TO FIX IT IS TO BANG ON THE HANDLE UNTIL IT POPS BACK OPEN. WHEN IN THIS POSITION THE DOOR CANNOT BE CLOSED. THE OTHER IS WITH THE IGNITION LOCK; IT STICKS AND LOCKS EVEN AFTER THE WHEEL MAY BE DISENGAGED; THIS LEADS TO A POSSIBILITY OF BEING STRANDED, OR WORSE. *JB
CONSUMER STATED ENGINE SENSOR LIGHT CONTINUED TO COME ON. CONSUMER WAS CONCERNED THAT ENGINE WILL FAIL WHILE DRIVING. *AK *JB
VSC AND ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I BROUGHT TO DEALER. THEY TOLD ME GAS CAP WAS NOT ON TIGHT. I THOUGHT THAT WAS AN INCORRECT DIAGNOSIS SINCE THE CAP WAS ON AND I HAD BEEN FILLING MY GAS FOR MORE THAN 3 YEARS. *AK THEY RESET THE VSC LIGHT AND GAVE ME CAR BACK AFTER CHARGING ME $98. LIGHT CAME BACK ON ONE WEEK LATER.
RIGHT SIDE REAR WINDOW FELL OFF WHILE DRIVING AT 30 MPH. CONSUMER WILL SEND A PICTURE. DEALER NOTIFIED. *AK

WHILE DRIVING DRIVER'S DOOR OPENED AND CLOSED ON ITS OWN. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION, AND MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE COMPUTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING. THE DOOR DOES NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL OR MANUALLY. THE CONTACT HAS TO FIND A WAY TO OPEN THE DOOR WHEN THIS OCCURS, WHICH IS USUALLY IN RAINY OR SNOWY CONDITIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT IT WOULD COST $2,200 TO REPLACE THE MOTOR AND THE COMPUTER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
I HAVE A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA.. HAVING PROBLEMS WITH EVAP CONTROL SYSTEM. I CANNOT FILL UP THE GAS TANK CONTINOUSLY.. STOPS EVERY FEW SECONDS... SOMETIMES SPILLING GASOLINE..(STARTED AT ABOUT 46,000 MILES).. I PAID $98 DOLLARS TO A LOCAL TOYOTAL SERVICE CENTER TO HAVE IT CHECK. THEY SAID, MY VAN HAS A PROBLEM WITH THE "CHARCOAL CANNISTER" AND WOULD COST ME $500.00 DOLLARS TO REPLACE... I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE TO FIND OUT IF THEY WILL COVER THE COST OF THE REPLACEMENT SINCE THEY HAVE A SETTLEMENT ISSUE WITH EPA REGARDING THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS. I UNDERSTAND THEY HAVE A $20 MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT W/ EPA FOR THESE KINDS OF VIOLATIONS.. BUT THEY COVER VEHICLES MANUFACTURED UP TO 1998 ONLY. THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTIES FOR THESE VEHICLES TO 14 YEARS OR 150,000 MILES... IF THEY ARE COVERING VEHICLES MUCH OLDER THAN MINE, I THINK THAT THE WARRANTY FOR MY VEHICLE SHOULD ALSO BE EXTENDED BECAUSE IT HAS A PROBLEM RELATING TO THE EMISSIONS. ALSO, $500 DOLLARS IS TOO MUCH FOR A CHARCOAL CANNISTER REPLACEMENT.. I WOULD APPRECIATE IT VERY MUCH IF YOU CAN GET THIS ISSUE RESOLVE WITH TOYOTA. FAILURE CODE P1155 "AIR FUEL SENSOR FAILURE" AT 40K MILES $282.00 FOR JUST THE SENSOR. THE VEHICLE IS LESS THAN 3 YEARS OLD NO HELP OFFERED FROM THE DEALER WITH COST OF REPAIR. FROM MY RESEARCH ON VARIOUS BULLITENS, I FIND THAT TOYOTA HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THIER SENSORS. THE PART NUMBER OF MY FAULTY PART 89467-41040. I OWN TWO 2001 TOYOTA VEHICLES AND ALL SERVICE OIL CHANGES PROVIDED AT DEALER SHIPS. I HAD TWO GM'S AND BECAUSE I HAD MY SERVICE PROVIDED AT THE DEALER THEY TOOK CARE OF THINGS LIKE THIS OUT TO 50K MILES. ATTITUDE LIKE THIS WILL PUSH ME BACK TO GM NEXT TIME. I THINK IT'S ABOUT TIME TO SWAP BACK BECAUSE I AM UPSET WITH TOYOTA'S ATTITUDE!
WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED AND APPLYING THE BRAKE THE CONSUMER HEARD A LOUD NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT WHEELS. THE DEALER DETERMINED THAT THE DRUMS WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. *NM *MR
2001 SIENNA TOYOTA ONCE PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW COMES DOWN, IT WILL ONLY GO UP BY AN INCH AT A TIME WHEN HIT THE UP BUTTON. IT WILL TAKE MORE THAN AN HOUR TO CLOSE IT COMPLETELY. *TR
LOST OF PASSENGER REAR TIRE DUE TO WHEEL FRACTURING IN 3 DIFFERENT AREAS. *JB
HILD SAFETY LOCKS ON REAR SLIDING DOORS ARE BYPASSED AND RENDERED USELESS BY REAR POWER DOOR BUTTONS. WITH THE CHILD SAFETY LOCKS ENGAGED THE SLIDING DOORS CAN NOT BE OPENED MANUALLY FROM THE INSIDE. HOWEVER THE REAR POWER DOOR BUTTONS LOCATED ON THE REAR DOORS, ON THE FRONT CONSOLE, AND ON THE REMOTE ALL FUNCTION NORMALLY. THERE IS A SEPARATE BUTTON ON THE FRONT CONSOLE THAT DEACTIVATES THE POWER DOOR FUNCTION, BUT IT DEACTIVATES IT FROM ALL 3 POINTS (BUTTONS ON THE REAR DOORS, ON THE FRONT CONSOLE, AND ON THE REMOTE) RENDERING THE EXPENSIVE POWER DOOR FEATURE USELESS. TO COMPLY WITH THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK REQUIREMENT, WHEN THE CHILD SAFETY LOCK IS ENGAGED IT SHOULD DISABLE MANUAL OPENING OF THE DOOR BY BACKSEAT OCCUPANTS AND SHOULD DISABLE THE POWER DOOR BUTTONS LOCATED ON THE BACK DOORS WITHIN EASY REACH OF BACKSEAT OCCUPANTS. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT HAS FAILED TO FOLLOWUP OR OFFER ANY SOLUTION (TOYOTA CASE # 2003 1204 0595). POWER DOORS CLOSE TOO HARD AND POSE SERIOUS INJURY RISK TO CHILDREN. POWER DOORS CLOSE HARD ENOUGH TO EASILY HURT AN ADULT. MY TWO YEAR OLD SON WAS INJURED WHEN HE ACTIVATED THE POWER DOOR BUTTON LOCATED IN THE BACK SEAT AND MANAGED TO CLOSE THE DOOR ON HIS ARM. MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE INFORMED ME THAT THE POWER DOORS ARE NOT ADJUSTABLE AND THEREFORE CANNOT BE CHANGED. MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED, BUT HAS FAILED TO FOLLOWUP OR OFFER ANY SOLUTION (TOYOTA CASE # 2003 1204 0595). TIRE PRESSUE MONITORING SYSTEM MALFUNCTIONS. IT FAILS TO WARN OF LOW PRESSURE IN TIRES (TESTED TO 15 LBS BELOW APPROPRIATE TIRE PRESSURE ON EACH TIRE INDIVIDUALLY AND THEN ON ALL 4 TIRES SIMULTANEOUSLY). HOWEVER, THE WARNING LIGHT DOES COME ON WHEN DESCENDING FROM HIGH ALTITUDES IN SPITE OF ALL TIRES BEING INFLATED PROPERLY. MULTIPLE DEALERS HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO UNDERSTAND AND FIX THE PROBLEM. ENGINE CHECK LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING. TOOK TO DEALER, HAD TO REPLACE VACUUM SWITCH. 2 DAYS LATER, SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED. *AK
I HAVE A 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA AND THE BOTH THE REAR SLIDING DOORS HAVE HAD INTERMITTENT ISSUES WITH EITHER OPENING OR CLOSING SINCE AROUND 2003 (ALTHOUGH MORE OFTEN SEEN WITH DRIVER SIDE). WHEN THE ISSUES IS PRESENT THE DOORS WORK FINE WHEN THE AUTOMATIC OPEN/CLOSE IS TURNED OFF. THE ISSUE MAY OCCUR MORE OFTEN WHEN RAINING THEN WHEN DRY. ONE OBSERVANCE OF ISSUE IS THAT WHEN AUTO OPEN IS ENGAGED THE DOOR MAKES A CLICKING SOUND BUT DOESN'T OPEN. THE OTHER OBSERVANCE OF ISSUE IS WHEN THE DOOR IS OPEN AND THE AUTO CLOSE IS ENGAGED THE DOOR STARTS TO CLOSE (MAYBE AN INCH) AND THEN RE-OPENS...THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED IS TO TURN OFF THE AUTO OPEN/CLOSE. WHILE UNDER WARRANTY I TOOK THE VAN TO BE SERVICED TWICE, BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO RE-PRODUCE THE ISSUE AT THE DEALERSHIP...AS SUCH THEY WOULD NOT EVEN LOOK AT IT. *TR
I FLLLED THE FUEL TANK ON 26 NOV 2003, AND DROVE THE VEHICLE 13 MILES. IT REMAINED PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY, WHICH SLOPES TOWARD THE REAR AT ABOUT 20 DEGREES, UNTIL 28 NOV 2003 AT 12:30 PM. THERE WAS AT THAT TIME RAW GASOLINE DRIPPING IN TEASPOON TO TABLESPOON QUANTITIES FROM A LINE IN FRONT OF THE FUEL TANK TO THE DRIVEWAY, WITH A PUDDLE ABOUT 18 BY 28 INCHES. I DROVE THE VEHICLE ABOUT 1 MILE WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING SMOOTHLY, AFTER WHICH FOR ABOUT 4 MILES THE ENGINE HESITATED AND SURGED AT SPEEDS OVER 35 MPH. THE REMAINDER OF THE 10 MILE TRIP, THE ENGINE RAN SMOOTHLY AGAIN. LATER THAT DAY, THE SERVICE REP CALLED TO TELL ME THEY HAD COMPLETED DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHICH SHOWED A DEFECTIVE CHARCOAL CANISTER, WHICH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED FOR $552.76, AT 62,612 MILES. THE REPAIR REPORT STATES THAT THE CHARCOAL CANISTER WAS SATURATED WITH RAW FUEL. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD.*AK
THE CRUISE CONTROL LEVER IS LOCATED IN AN AREA THAT WHEN THE DRIVER TURNED THE STEERING WHEEL THE CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED AND , RESULTED IN SUDDEN ACCELERATION. *AK THE CONSUMER INDICATED THE PROBLEM OCCURRED ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. *NM
POSSIBLE FOR PEOPLE TO BECOME LOCKED INSIDE THE VEHICLE WITH NO WAY TO OPEN THE DOORS. WHEN DOORS ARE LOCKED WITH THE REMOTE CONTROL (DELIBERATELY OR ACCIDENTALLY), WITH NO KEY IN THE IGNITION, THE ONLY WAY TO UNLOCK THEM IS WITH THE REMOTE OR TURNING THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. THE DOORS CAN BE LOCKED WITH THE REMOTE, AND A PERSON NOT HAVING THE REMOTE WILL BE UNABLE TO GET OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME AT LEAST 4 TIMES SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR. *LA
PREVIOUSLY FILED COMPLAINT OD ID #: 10033210 REGARDING ROTORS. I RECENTLY HAD THEM REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE WHEN BRAKING HARD TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT I HEARD METAL TO METAL FROM FRONT BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE CAR WASN'T STOPPING. ALSO HAD SLIGHT SHIMMY IN STEERING UPON REGULAR BRAKING. WAS TOLD THAT ROTORS WERE WITHIN THE SPECIFICATIONS BUT SINCE THEY COULD NOT TURN/SAND THEM AGAIN BECAUSE THEY HAD BEEN DONE ONCE BEFORE AND WOULD BE TOO THIN AND THAT THEY WERE "WARPED" THEY WOULD REPLACE THEM UNDER WARRANTY "THIS ONE TIME ONLY." THE FIRST TIME THEY WERE TURNED AND SANDED - APPROXIMATELY 15,000 MILES. THIS TIME THEY WERE REPLACED - 22,000 MILES. THIS IS NOT NORMAL AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS CAR! *LA
DEAR SIRS, I WANT TOYOTA TO BUY BACK MY SIENNA VAN. I HAVE HAD MY VAN REPAIRED 4 TIME FOR A INOPERATIVE POWER SLIDING DOOR,ERRATIC OPERATING POWER SLIDING DOOR, UNINTENTIONAL ACTIVATION POWER SLIDING DOOR. THE DOOR IS NOW BROKE AGAIN. AFTER THEY FIX THE DOOR THIS WILL BE THE 5TH REPAIR TO THE DOOR. THE DOOR NOW OPENED ONE TIME WHILE DRIVING THE CAR AT SLOW SPEED. THIS IS NOT SAFE!
MECHANIC FOUND SIGNIFICANT SLUDGING OIL. DEALER STATED NEEDED TO FLUSH AND CHANGE NEW OIL. *AK
COSCO CHILD SAFETY SEAT HAS RIDGES MADE INTO THE BACK THAT WERE CAUSING BRUISES ON THE CONSUMER'S CHILD'S BACK. THE CHILD HAS COMPLAINED THAT THE SEAT WAS HURTING HIS BACK FOR AWHILE BEFORE THE CONSUMER FINALLY CHECKED THE BRUISES. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN INFORMED OF THE PROBLEM. *AK
I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2001, USED AT 18,000 MILES. I HAVE HAD ALL SCHEDULED MAINTENANCE DONE. ON AUG 8TH I HAD AND OIL CHANGE AND BY SEPT. 17 THERE WAS NO OIL , ANOTHER OIL CHANGE WAS DONE. BY SEPT. 22 THERE WAS NO OIL. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO STEVENSON TOYOTA IN JACKSONVILLE, NC, WHERE THEY TOLD ME I HAD AN OIL GELLING PROBLEM. THEY ARE KEEPING MY CAR FOR 1-2 WEEKS, WITHOUT THE USE OF A LOANER CAR. THEY STATE THAT TOYOTA WILL CLEAN THE PARTS ONE TIME AS A GOOD WILL GESTURE AND POSSIBLY PAY FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR 3 DAYS. THEY ALSO SAID THAT MY WARRANTY AND EXTENDED WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER THIS. MY CAR HAS APPROX 55,000 MILES. I AM TRULY AFRAID TO TAKE THIS CAR BACK FROM THEM AS I AM UNSURE OF IT'S RELIABILITY OR THEIRS.
FUEL INJECTORS FAIL INTERMITTENTLY. *AK
THIS VAN HAS REAR BRAKES THAT SQUEAL/HUM EVERYTIME YOU USE THEM. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA REGIONAL WHICH CONTACTED TOYOTA NATIONAL WHICH SENT SOMEONE OUT TO LOOK AT THEM. IN THEIR WORDS THEY SAID "BRAKE NOISE IS NORMAL FOR A SIENNA". SOMEHOW ANY CONSTANT BRAKE NOISE SHOULDN'T BE NORMAL. I'M TOLD IT HAPPENS WHEN THE BRAKE SHOES AND THE BACKING PLATES VIBRATE AT A LOW SPEED IT CAUSES THEM TO HUM. ALSO, AT 15,000 MILES (I ONLY PUT 10,000 PER YEAR ON THE CAR) THE ROTORS HAD TO BE TURNED AND SANDED. 1 WEEK LATER THE METAL CRUNCHING SOUND RETURNED. I RETURNED THE VEHICLE AND WAS TOLD EVERYTHING WAS WITHIN THE SPECIFICATIONS. NOW, WHENEVER I HAVE TO BRAKE HARD I STILL WILL HEAR A METAL TO METAL CRUNCHING NOISE. UNFORTUNATELY IT ISN'T A CONSTANT PROBLEM AND CANNOT ALWAYS BE DUPLICATED SO IT STILL HASN'T GOTTEN FIXED. I'VE BASICALLY GIVEN UP ON THE VEHICLE AND WILL TURN IT IN AT THE END OF THE LEASE BECAUSE I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WITH THESE TYPE OF BRAKE PROBLEMS.*AK

MY BRAKES HAVE BEEN SQEALING FOR SOME TIME NOW. I'VE HAD THE ROTORS TURNED, DUSTED, ETC. NOW IT IS AFFECTING MY STEERING. I AM DUE TO TAKE IT IN TO HAVE THIS CHECKED OUT. *AK
ELECTRICAL SYSTEM CONTAINING FUEL INJECTOR RELAY FAILED. FUEL INJECTOR STOPPED WORKING AND CAR LOST POWER ON HIGHWAY. REPLACING RELAY AND FUSE BY DEALERSHIP DID NOT FIX PROBLEM, ENDED UP FAILING AGAIN AFTER BEING RETURNED FROM DEALERSHIP. *AK
THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED AN OIL LEAKED. *JB
OUR 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS PROBLEM WITH THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE LIGHTS, INTERIOR AND EXTERIOR, AS WELL AS ALL ELECTRICAL OUTLETS PULSATE. THEY CONTINUOUSLY FLUXUATE FROM DIM TO BRIGHT. THERE ARE EVEN TIMES WHEN I HAVE IT ON CRUISE AND PRESS ON THE BRAKE THAT THE RADIO GOES OFF TEMPORARILY. TOYOTA HAS ATTEMPTED TO FIX IT BUT NOW THEY TELL US THAT THIS IS COMMON WITH THE SIENNAS AND AVOLANS THAT HAVE AUTOMATIC CLIMATE CONTROL. THEY TELL US THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE THAT I JUST NEED TO DRIVE IT AS IS. WE CERTAINLY DISAGREE. SINCE THIS EFFECTS THE ENTIRE ELECTIRCAL SYSTEM, WE ARE CONCERNED THAT WE MAY HAVE A COMPLETE POWER FAILURE WHILE TRAVELING. WE ALSO, ARE CONCERNED SINCE THIS IS AN ELECTRICAL MALFUNCTION, WE DO NOT WANT TO EVER EXPERIENCE AN ELECTRICAL FIRE. FINALLY, WE ARE CONCERNED ABOUT DRIVING AT NIGHT WITH LIGHTS THAT RAPIDLY FLUXUATE BETWEEN DIM AND NORMAL. I POSTED THE DATE AS MAY BECAUSE THIS IS WHEN WE FIRST REALISTED THIS WAS HAPPENING. WE BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH.
THE BRAKES MAKE NOISE WHEN EVER I APPLY THEM. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR REPAIR A COUPLE OF TIMES. FIRST 2 TIMES, THEY SAID NEED SERVICE. THEY DID SERVICE TO CLEAN DUST. EVEN AFTER THAT, THE SOUND DID NOT GO. THEY MENTIONED THIS IS NORMAL FOR ALL SEINNA'S. THEY SAID THE SOUND COMING WHEN METAL PADS HITS METAL RINGS, DRUM. I BELIEVE THE SOUND IS DUE TO DESIGN FAULT OR FAULT MATERIALS. I BOUGHT A BRAND NEW VEHICLE AND ONLY 20000 MILES ON IT. THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE ANY PARTS. THEY SAID THERE IS NO PROBLEM AND EVERY THING NORMAL. I AM DISAPPOINTED IN BUYING A BRAND NEW SEINNA XLE (HIGHER MODEL) AND PAID AROUND $30000. PLEASE HELP ME RESOLVE THE PROBLEM. I CALLED TOYATA CUSTOMER SERVICE. NO HELP FROM THEM. THEY HAVE 100 REASONS TO COVER UP ANY COMPLAINT. *JB
AFTER MY ENGINE REGISTERED "LOW OIL", THE MECHANIC FOUND SIGNIFICANT SLUDGING. IT WAS FLUSHED AND CHANGED AND THEN IN <1000MI THERE WAS NO OIL AGAIN. NOW TOYOTA SAYS THE LEAKS AROUND THE VALVES ARE DUE TO MY "NEGLECT" IN CHANGING OIL. I HAVE THE RECEIPT FROM 4 MOS AGO FOR OIL CHANGE. I ALSO WAS TOLD THEY WOULD NOT CONSIDER PAYING FOR IT BECAUSE IT WAS MY LACK OF OIL CHANGE THAT "CAUSED" THE SLUDGING (DESPITE MY RECEIPT) AND THAT I NEEDED ALL MY OIL CHANGE RECEIPTS FOR THEM TO CONSIDER A CLAIM (2 1/2 YEAR OLD CAR.)
I AM SENDING THIS LETTER TO EXPRESS CONCERN RELATIVE TO THE SAFETY AND USABILITY OF OUR 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA MINI VAN. WE HAVE HAD CONTINUED PROBLEMS WITH THE VAN THAT HAS BEEN ADDRESSED WITH THE DEALER (KENNY KENT TOYOTA IN EVANSVILLE, IN) AS WELL AS TOYOTA. THE ENGINE IS OUR BRAND NEW VAN HAD GELLING ISSUES TO DUE MANUFACTURE?S DEFECTS. THE PROBLEMS ARE CONTINUING TO DATE. IN THE MANUFACTURE?S RESPONSE IT STATES THAT TOYOTA OFFERED GOODWILL ASSISTANCE TO US FOR THE ENGINE GELLING. (THIS HAPPENED TO A BRAND NEW VAN). IT ALSO STATES THAT THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. TOYOTA SAID THAT THIS WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE AND IT IS ALSO LISTED AS WARRANTY IN TOYOTA DOCUMENTATION. ACCORDING TO THE OWNER?S WARRANTY INFORMATION BOOK, THE BASIC WARRANTY IS 36 MONTHS OR 36,000 MILES AND THE POWER TRAIN WARRANTY IS 60 MONTHS OR 60,000 MILES. THE DEFECT WITH THE ENGINE BASED UPON THE WARRANTY AS STATED IN TOYOTA?S WARRANTY INFORMATION BOOK STATES THAT ALL REPAIRS AND ADJUSTMENTS NEEDED TO CORRECT DEFECTS IN MATERIALS AND WORKMANSHIP OF ANY PART SUPPLIED BY TOYOTA IS COVERED. IN THE MANUFACTURE?S RESPONSE IT STATES THAT THE VEHICLE IS NOT EXHIBITING ANY WARRANTABLE NONCONFORMITIES THAT SUBSTANTIALLY IMPAIR THE USE, VALUE OR SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. UNFORTUNATELY THIS STATEMENT IS NOT TRUE. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO HAVE EXTREME ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS WITH THE VAN. THESE PROBLEMS ARE CONTINUING TO DATE FOLLOWING TOYOTA?S ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR THE ENGINE. ON ONE OCCASION MY WIFE AND MY SIX-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER WERE IN THE VAN ALONE WHEN THE VAN REFUSED TO START. IT WAS A 90+-DEGREE DAY. TOYOTA SERVICE CANNOT FIND THE CAUSE AND PROBLEMS CONTINUE. THE ENGINE DOESN?T HAVE THE POWER IT DID PRIOR TO THE REPAIRS, THE VALVES CLATTER VERY LOUDLY AND THE ENGINE MAKES A CHUGGING SOUND WHEN IT IDLES. WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE STEERING WHEEL SEEMED TO DISCONNECT FROM THE COLUMN. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO SPIN THE STEERING WHEEL, AND WHEELS WOULD NOT MOVE. VIBRATION & UNEVEN, PREMATURE TIRE WEAR DESPITE SEVERAL ALIGNMENTS. VEHICLE ALSO MAKES CLUNKING SOUND WHEN BREAKING IN REVERSE & INITIAL ACCELERATION.
2001 SIENNA BOUGHT NEW FROM DEALER. DRIVER SIDE PASSENGER POWER SLIDE DOOR HAD PROBLEMS WITH 'SWITCH' AND ECU 8/2002, 11/2003, 1/2004, 7/2004, 7/2006 4/2007. THOSE ARE JUST THE TIMES I BROUGHT IT IN. OTHER TIMES I JUST LET IT GO FOR A WHILE. TOYOTA FIXED PART UNTIL WARRANTY WAS UP. NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY TO REPLACE THE PARTS -- PARTS THAT CONTINUE TO FAIL. VIBRATION IN REAR BRAKES CAUSING A HARMONIC NOISE WHEN COMING TO A COMPLETE STOP OR IF ON A DOWNWARD INCLINE WITH BRAKES APPLIED AND JUST BARELY INCHING ALONG. THIS IS NOT THE NORMAL SQUEAL FROM BRAKE PADS. I HAVE BEEN CONCERNED THAT THIS VIBRATION IS CAUSING OTHER PARTS TO BECOME LOOSE. I PURCHASED THE 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE VAN NEW IN SEPT 2000. ALL OF MY SERVICE IS DONE ACCORDING TO TOYOTA'S SCHEDULE AND AT TOYOTA OF GREENSBURG, PA. THE NOISE STARTED APROX. FEB OF 2002 WITH 19,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IT WAS REPORTED TO TOYOTA OF GREENSBURG, PA ON MAY 10TH OF 2002 WITH 22,166 MILES. BETWEEN MAY AND AUGUST OF 2002 THE VAN WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER 4 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. DURING THAT TIME THEY REPLACED THE LININGS AND DRUMS, CLEANED THE BRAKES OR DID SOMETHING OTHER BUT THE NOISE ALWAYS COMES BACK. ON AUGUST 5TH 2002 TOYOTA OF GREENSBURG TOLD ME THAT TOYOTA WAS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND WORKING ON A FIX BECAUSE IT IS HAPPENING ON ALL SIENNA VANS SINCE 1998. BETWEEN THEN AND APRIL OF 2003 I KEEP ASKING ABOUT THE REPAIR AND THE ANSWER WAS IT IS NOT READY. AT THAT POINT I WENT TO TOYOTA'S ARBITRATION PROCESS BUT THEY WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING SINCE THE VAN NOW HAD OVER 36,000 MILES EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM STARTED WELL WITHIN THE WARRANTY PERIOD. I FEEL THERE IS A VIBRATION PROBLEM (SOMETIMES YOU CAN ACTUALLY SEE THE ROAD WHEEL VIBRATING ALSO) THAT COULD CAUSE OTHER MORE SERIOUS PROBLEMS BUT DO NOT KNOW WHAT ELSE TO DO. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2001 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE IN 2001. THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR AND THE DRIVERS SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR HAS GIVEN US PROBLEMS SINCE WE PURCHASED THE CAR. WE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER FOR THE SAME POWER DOOR ISSUE AT LEAST 11 TIMES. THEY NOW WANT TO CHARGE ME. THE NTSB SHOULD FORCE A RECALL TO FIX THIS ISSUE. THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE AND NOW IT WILL NOT MOVE AT ALL EITHER BY REMOTE OR MANUALLY. WE PURCHASED THE DUAL POWER SLIDERS AS A CONVENIENCE AND NOW WE HAVE INCONVENIENCE. WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE THE DOOR PROPERLY FOR YEARS, WE HAVE NEVER HAD THE BENEFIT OF THE POWER SLIDING DOORS THAT WE PAID FOR. I WOULD REQUEST THAT THE GOVERNMENT INVESTIGATE THE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE VARIOUS BLOGS FOR THE SAME ISSUE DESCRIBED HERE.
