THE SEAT BELT WILL NOT FASTEN IN THE REAR SEAT WHEN FIRST PUT INTO THE LATCH. THE ORANGE TAB MUST BE JIMMIED WITH AND PUSHED AND THEN AFTER IT WAS TOYED WITH IT FINALLY WAS WORKED. IT CONSTANTLY DOES THIS, USUALLY THERE IS A CAR SEAT IN THAT POSITION BUT WHEN IT IS USED WITHOUT IT, IT DOES IT EACH TIME. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BECAME STUCK AND WOULD NOT FULLY RETRACT. THE FAILURE BEGAN INTERMITTENTLY, BUT CURRENTLY THE SEAT BELT IS INOPERABLE. THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. PREVIOUSLY, THE SECOND ROW PASSENGER SEAT BELT DID NOT RETRACT AND WAS STICKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED. THE CONTACT WILL TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER LATER THIS WEEK TO BE REPAIRED AGAIN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 15,000.
WHEN EITHER FRONT SEATBELT OF MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA IS PULLED OUT TOO RAPIDLY IT BINDS AT THE BEZEL. I CARRY TWO TOOLS WITH ME TO FORCE IT BACK IN IF I HAVE THE TIME, OTHERWISE IF IT IS BINDS ON THE DRIVERS SIDE, THE CAR HAS TO BE DRIVEN WITHOUT THE SEATBELT. ON THE PASSENGERS SIDE, THE PASSENGER HAS TO MOVE TO A BACK SEAT. I CHECKED WITH TOYOTA WHEN IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT SHOULD BE UNDER RECALL. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE HATCHBACK DOOR HANDLE DETACHED TWO DAYS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. THE HANDLE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR HANDLE AND THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR HANDLE ALSO FAILED. THE DOORS COULD ONLY BE OPENED FROM INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE REMAINING THREE HANDLES CRACKED AND IN THE PROCESS OF FAILING. THE DEALER WILL NOT REPLACE THE DOOR HANDLES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79000. *AK
TOYOTA SIENNA 2005. INTERMITTENTLY THE CAR ACCELERATES ON ITS OWN. HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I BOUGHT IT. NEVER THOUGHT MUCH ABOUT IT, BECAUSE IT WOULD SLOW DOWN WHEN I PUT ON BRAKES. IN LIGHT OF THE RECENT PROBLEMS WITH OTHER MODELS, I THINK THIS IS PART OF THE PROBLEM. THE CAR FEELS AS IF IT WAS ON CRUISE CONTROL, GETTING UP TO SPEED. HOWEVER, I HAVE NEVER USED CRUISE CONTROL AS I DON'T LIKE IT. IS THERE A LINK BETWEEN THE CRUISE CONTROL AND THESE PROBLEMS? *TR
MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA LE AWD HAS JUST 7,000 MILES ON IT. RECENTLY TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR A REGULAR SERVICE AND REQUESTED THAT THEY LOOK AT THE TIRES AS I WAS EXPERIENCING VIBRATION WHEN DRIVING. DEALERSHIP SAID THAT ALL FOUR TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE AS THERE WAS CUPPING AND UNEVEN WEAR. THEY SUGGESTED THAT I CAUSED THIS PROBLEM BY DRIVING ON THE TIRES UNDER-INFLATED OR BY SOMEHOW NOT MAINTAINING THEM. HOWEVER, I AM METICULOUS ABOUT MAINTAINING MY VEHICLE AND I HAVE NOT NOTICED AT ANY TIME THAT THE PRESSURE WAS TOO LOW, AND NEVER AT ANY TIME DID THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING GO OFF. STILL HAGGLING WITH DEALERSHIP TO DETERMINE WHETHER THEY WILL PAY TO REPLACE THEM, THOUGH I'M NOT SURE REPLACING THEM WILL DO MUCH GOOD IN ANOTHER 7,000 MILES. NO FAILURES, INJURIES, OR DEATHS TO REPORT,... YET. WITH THESE POORLY MADE, DEFECTIVE TIRES, IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF TIME. *JB
I AM FILLING OUT THIS COMPLAINT BEFORE ONE OF MY BRIDGSTONE RUN FLAT TIRES ON MY NEW TOYOTA SIENNA FAILS. I AM NOT HAPPY WITH HAVING TO DRIVE ON THESE DANGEROUS TIRES. NOR AM I HAPPY WITH THE ALTERNATIVES TO REPLACE THEM. THESE 2 REPUTABLE COMPANIES ARE NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THESE EXTREMELY COSTLY AND POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS TIRES. *JB
THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELTS WHEN PULLED OUT TO ENABLE THE PASSENGERS TO BUCKLE CAN BECOME FOLDED AND LODGED IN THE OPENING AT THE PILLAR PREVENTING THE BELT TO MOVE FURTHER. THIS RENDERS THE BELT USELESS UNTIL THE PASSENGER CAN DISLODGE IT FROM THE OPENING. IT CAN TAKE AS MUCH AS 20 MINUTES TO FREE/OR DISLODGE THE BELT FROM IT'S PINCHED POSITION.
GOT A NAIL IN A RUN FLAT TIRE ON MY 2005 AWD SIENNA VAN. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT UNDER WARRANTY. DEALER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE THE NAIL WAS IN THE SIDEWALL AND THEN OFFERED TO SELL ME 4 NEW RUN FLAT TIRES FOR MY 3 MONTH OLD VAN FOR $1300. HAD FOUR REGULAR TIRES PUT ON THE VAN AND ALSO BOUGHT A NEW WHEEL FOR A SPARE SINCE THE AWD VAN DOES NOT COME WITH A SPARE TIRE (BRIDGESTONE). *NM
THE PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT I HAVE OWNED FOR APPROXIMATELY ONE YEAR. AT 24,000 MILES ON THE CAR (MOSTLY HIGHWAY DRIVING) THE FRONT 2 TIRES WERE COMPLETELY BALD AND THE REAR TIRES HAD ALMOST NO TREAD LEFT ON THEM. THE COST FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES WAS APPROXIMATELY $900 WHICH INCLUDED A $100 CREDIT PER TIRE FROM DUNLOP. I REFUSED TO PUT THOSE TIRES ON MY CAR AGAIN SINCE I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN AND CAN NEITHER AFFORD THE COST OR THE RISK TO THEIR SAFETY WITH INADEQUATE TIRES. DUNLOP WILL ALSO NOT PROVIDE ANY SORT OF WARRANTY ON THEIR NEW TIRES. THE COST OF NEW TIRES (NON-RUNFLAT) WAS APPROXIMATELY $450. IN ADDITION TO THE FOUR NEW TIRES WE ALSO HAD TO OBTAIN A SPARE TIRE AND WHEEL AND PURCHASE A NEW JACK. THERE IS NOW A LOOSE TIRE SITTING IN THE BACK OF OUR VAN THAT CAN BE A SAFETY HAZARD IF WE ARE EVER UNFORTUNATE ENOUGH TO BE IN A SEVERE ACCIDENT. *JB
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN DEFECTIVE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS THAT CAN BREAK EASILY FROM MINOR VIBRATION OR BUMPING THE MIRROR HOUSING. THREE SMALL PLASTIC SECURING POSTS WILL BREAK CAUSING THE ACTUAL MIRROR WITH IT MOTOR ATTACHED, TO FALL OUT OF ITS HOUSING AND RENDERING IT ABSOLUTELY USELESS AND IRREPARABLE. 1. BACKING OUT OF GARAGE AND BRUSHED THE MIRROR HOUSING AGAINST THE DOOR FRAME VERY LIGHTLY. THE MIRROR HOUSING PIVOTED ONLY WITH SLIGHT VIBRATION AND THE ENTIRE MIRROR WITH ITS MOTOR ATTACHED FELL OUT COMPLETELY.. THE MIRROR , INTACT WITH THE MOTOR, COULD NOT BE RE-INSERTED. ON INSPECTION OF THE HOUSING IT WAS FOUND THAT A PIECE OF PLASTIC WITH ONLY THREE FLIMSY SMALL DIAMETER PLASTIC POST ARISING FROM IT WERE RESPONSIBLE FOR HOLDING THE ENTIRE MIRROR AND MOTOR FRACTURED OFF AT THEIR SMALL BASES 2. FAILURE OF THE MIRROR TO WITHSTAND A SMALL IMPACT WHEN THE MIRROR WAS DESIGNED TO PIVOT BACK AND FORTH TO REDUCE BREAKING OFF THE ENTIRE MIRROR. UNABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY .INABILITY TO SEE BACKING UP AND SEEING CARS ON ROAD. IMPOSSIBLE TO ADJUST MIRROR OR PURCHASE PARTS FROM DEALER 3. UNABLE TO BUY INEXPENSIVE PLASTIC PART TO FIX MIRROR IMMEDIATELY . ENTIRE MIRROR SOLD AS AN UNIT AT A EXORBITANT $485, LABOR $118 AND WAIT 5 DAYS FOR PART. . WHEN COMPLAINING TO SERVICE PEOPLE ABOUT THE MIRROR BREAKING THEY STATED IT HAPPENS QUITE OFTEN IN CAR WASHES. OLD PART AT HOME AND IT LOOKS LIKE IT COULD HAVE BEEN GLUED BACK IN PLACE WITH PROPER GLUE OR BROKEN PART REPLACED FOR DOLLARS , NOT CLOSE TO $600. THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR NOT BEING ABLE TO REPLACE THIS PLASTIC PART OR ATTEMPT GLUING AND MAKING IT EVEN STRONGER. *NM
RUN FLAT TIRES ON TOYOTA SIENNA NEARLY BALD AFTER ONLY 15,000 MILES. *JB
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AWD THAT IS EQUIPPED WITH BRIDGESTONE RUN-FLAT TIRES. I WAS GIVEN NO SPARE TIRE WITH MY VEHICLE. I WAS TRAVELING WITH MY FAMILY ON OCTOBER 14 2005 ON INTERSTATE 5 IN CA. AT 4 AM WHEN MY TIRE WENT FLAT AT 70 MPH. THE LOW TIRE PRESSURE WARNING SYSTEM FAILED TO NOTIFY MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING THAT THE TIRE HAD LOST AIR PRESSURE. SHE CONTINUED TO DRIVE UNTIL THE TIRE STARTED TO DISINTEGRATE AND SHE FELT THE VEHICLE START TO PULL TO THE RIGHT. THERE WE WERE STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE WITH A DESTROYED TIRE AND NO SPARE. I WAS FORCED TO HAVE MY VAN TOWED TO BAKERSFIELD CA. AND HAVE THE TIRE REPLACED WITH A STANDARD TIRE SINCE THE RUN-FLATS ARE IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND. TOYOTA REFUSES TO COMPENSATE ME IN ANY WAY FOR THIS IRRESPONSIBLE DESIGN THEY HAVE ON THEIR AWD SIENNAS. I DON'T WANT THESE UNSAFE TIRES ON MY VAN AND I WANT A SPARE. I PAID $40,000 FOR THIS VAN AND SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN A SPARE TIRE. I WAS LED TO BELIEVE THAT THESE GARBAGE TIRES WOULD TAKE THE PLACE OF A SPARE WHICH THEY OBVIOUSLY DO NOT!*JB
DUNLOP RUN FLAT TIRES WEAR EXCESSIVELY AND NEED TO BE REPLACED AFTER ONLY 14,000 MILES OR LESS AND PRESENT A SAFETY ISSUE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT OBSERVED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER AND DRIVER SLIDING DOORS FAILED TO OPERATE AUTOMATICALLY AND MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE MOTOR AND CABLE ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON THIRTEEN SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE FAILURES CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE ESTIMATED SERVICE REPAIR COST WAS $1,800.00 PER DOOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THIS TIME. THE CONTACT HAS CONCERNS OF THE SAFETY RISK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000. DT: FOUND OUT ON SEPTEMBER 16, 2005 THAT THE TIRES WERE EXTREMELY WORN.OUT. TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC HAD THE CONSUMER COME OUT AND LOOK AT THE TIRES, AND SAID THE TIRES MUST BE REPLACED. THE INDICATION FOR THE TIRES NEVER GAVE ANY NOTICE THAT THE INFLATION WAS NOT PROPER. THERE WAS NO VIBRATION, OR ABNORMAL BULGING AND THIS VEHICLE IS SERVICED REGULARLY AT THE TOYOTA DEALER. THESE ARE BRIDGESTONE RAN FLAT TIRES, THEY HAVE PREMATURE WEAR, HAD REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES. HAD MAINTAINED THE TIRES ACCORDING TO THE TOYOTA MAINTENCE PLAN. THEY DID NOT WANT TO REPLACE THE TIRES BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT ISSUE A TIRE WARRANTY. CONSUMER WANTED STATES THAT THE MECHANIC'S RECOMMENDATION THAT ALL FOUR TIRES BE REPLACED. THERE WAS WEAR ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES AND IWASNOT VISIBLE FROM OUTSIDE. CONSUMER WANTED TO BELIEVE THAT TOYOTA WAS GOING TO HELP HIM, BUT IT WAS AT HIS EXPENSE.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE DECELERATES ON ITS OWN. THE VEHICLE JERKS WHEN THE CONTACT DEPRESSES THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE DEALER REPROGRAMMED THE SOFTWARE FOR THE THROTTLE, HOWEVER, THE FAILURE STILL OCCURS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 35,300 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. DT: AFTER PURCHASING A NEW 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED A DISTORTION ALONG THE BOTTOM ABOUT AN INCH AND A HALF OF THE TINTED AREA OF THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. THERE WAS A CREASE DISTORTION THAT WAS DISTRACTING WHEN DRIVING. CONCERNED, THE CONSUMER TOOK VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER, WHO DISCOVERED THE DISTORTION AS WELL. THE DEALER TALKED TO THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND NOTED THAT THE OTHER MODEL VEHICLES HAD THIS DISTORTION ON THE WINDSHIELD AS WELL. NO CORRECTIONS OR REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE WINDSHIELD. THE CONSUMER CONTACTED TOYOTA MANUFACTURER AND FILED A COMPLIANT WITH THE COMPANY AS WELL.*AK *JB
MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA HAS BRIDESTONE RUN FLAT TIRES. I NOTICED WEAR ON MY FRONT TIRES AT 15,741 MILES AND ROTATED MY TIRES. I WAS NOTICING A NOISE FROM THE FRONT OF MY CAR AND HAD THE BRAKES CHECKED, THEY WERE OK BUT MY TIRES WERE NOT. TOOK VEHICLE TO A BRIDGESTONE TIRE DEALER AND HE SAID THAT THE TIRES WERE SHOT WITH 17,600 MILES. THEY ARE CONTACTING THE MANUFACTURER TO SEE IF THEY WILL REPLACE OR ADJUST THE TIRES. IS IT SAFE TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH THESE TIRES IN THIS KIND OF CONDITION? MIKE BERG. *JB
MY VAN HAS ELECTRIC SLIDING SIDE DOORS THAT CAN BE ACTUATED BY SEVERAL MEANS. THE FORWARD MOTION HAS A SAFETY SENSOR THAT WILL STOP AND REVERSE THE CLOSING OF THE DOOR IF A PERSON SHOULD BE IN THE WAY AND THAT WORKS WELL. HOWEVER, THERE IS NOT ANY WAY TO SENSE A DANGEROUS CONDITION WHEN THE DOOR IS OPENING. UPON OPENING, THE DOOR ROLLS OUT ABOUT 4 INCHES AND THEN SLIDES ON A RAIL SYSTEM TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE ACCIDENT OCCURRED WHEN MY MOTHER WHO WAS IN A WHEEL CHAIR JUST TWO INCHES AWAY FROM THE SIDE OF THE REAR CLOSED DOOR. A PASSENGER HIT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR OPEN BUTTON FOR THAT DOOR. THE DOOR TRAVELED OUTWARD 4 INCHES PINNING THE ARM REST AND BEGAN LIFTING THE SIDE OF THE CHAIR AND CARRYING HER TOWARDS THE BACK OF THE VAN. IT APPARENTLY KNOCKED HER ARM OFF THE CHAIR ARM THUS PREVENTING PINNING HER HAND AS SHE AND THE DOOR TRAVELED TO THE REAR OF THE VAN. DURING THIS ACCIDENT THE DOOR RECEIVED A LONGITUDINAL SCRAPING DENT. PHOTOS SHOWING THE DENT WITH REPLICATION OF THE WHEELCHAIR COULD BE PROVIDED, IF REQUESTED BEFORE REPAIRS ARE MADE. UPON FURTHER CHECKING THIS, I CONFIRMED THERE WAS NOT ANY STOP SENSOR OR PHYSICAL WAY TO STOP THE DOOR WHEN IN THE OPENING MODE. I ALSO NOTED THAT THE CLEARANCE BETWEEN THE DOORS INNER SIDE AND THE BODY PRESENTS A PERFECT PINCH AREA FOR A HAND OR ARM TO WEDGE THAT WOULD BE CAPABLE SQUASHING ONES HAND AND OR ARM. THE OTHER EVENT THAT OCCURRED WAS WHEN A PERSON WAS LEANING ALONG THE SIDE OF THE VAN WHEN THE RETRACTING DOOR STRUCK THEM AND KNOCKED THEM ASIDE, FORTUNATELY WITHOUT INJURY. *JB
SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING OUR TOYOTA SIENNA 05, THE VAN WOULDN'T START. WE HAD A DVD PLAYER INSTALLED WHICH THE DEALERSHIP THOUGHT CAUSED THE PROBLEM. THEY FOUND A PINCHED WIRE AND SAID IT WAS FIXED. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CAR WAS DEAD AGAIN. THEY SAID WE LEFT OUR DOME LIGHTS ON WHICH CAUSED THE DEAD BATTERY, EVEN THOUGH THIS CAR HAS AN AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF OF THE DOME LIGHTS SYSTEM. THE CAR WOULDN'T START AFTER LISTENING TO THE RADIO FOR 15 MINUTES WITH THE IGNITION OFF. THE CAR WOULDN'T START AFTER LEAVING THE SIDE DOORS OPEN FOR 30 MINUTES. THE CAR WOULDN'T START AFTER LEAVING THE TRUNK OPEN IN THE TIME IT TOOK ME TO UNLOAD A CAR FULL OF GROCERIES. I HAVE HAD MY CAR IN AT LEAST 5 TIMES AND I WAS TOLD THERE WAS NOT A PROBLEM. THEY COULD FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH THE CAR AND THEY GAVE ME THE IMPRESSION THAT THEY THOUGHT I WAS CRAZY. THEN I HAD TO RELY ON NEIGHBORS TO JUMP MY CAR WHEN IT WOULDN'T START. I PURCHASED A NEW VAN FROM TOYOTA BECAUSE I THOUGHT THEY HAD A REPUTATION FOR BEING A RELIABLE COMPANY. I PURCHASED A NEW VAN TO HAVE A RELIABLE CAR FOR MY FAMILY AND NOW I'M AFRAID TO LEAVE MY HOUSE WITHOUT JUMPER CABLES. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT ACTION THAT I CAN TAKE TO FEEL SAFE AGAIN. *NM

I CONSUMER OWNS A SIENNA CE 2005. BOUGHT IT AT TOYOTA OF ORANGE ON MARCH 4,2005. VAN HAD A OIL CHANGE SERVICE ON AUGUST 13,05. ALTHOUGH MY VAN HAS LOW MILEAGE, ABOUT 1, 355 MILES AFTER OIL CHANGE. WENT SHOPPING AT RALPH SUPERMARKET IN FRONT OF TOYOTYA DEALER. WHEN WERE ABOUT TO GO HOME SUDDENLY BRAKES DID NOT WORK. LUCKILY VAN WAS STILL IN PARKING LOT OF RALPH SUPERMARKET. IMAGINE THAT IF THIS HAPPENED ON THE STREET CONSUMER AND CHILDREN COULD GET HURT OR KILLED. THEN CONSUMER CAREFULLY BACK TO DEALER AND LEFT VAN FOR SERVICE. IT'S ABOUT 7:30 PM - 08/13/05. PULLED TO SIDE OF THE ROAD, NOTICED A LOT SMOKE COMING FROM THE TIRE AND IMMEDIATELY REMOVED FAMILY FROM VEHICLE. CALLED 911, AND AAA. A PASSERBY WHO WORKED FOR THE FORESTRY DIVISION CALLED FIRE DEPARTMENT AS WELL. TWO PASSERBYS USED 2 FULL FIRE EXTINGUISHERS AND PUT OUT FIRE, FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME AFTER AND WATERED DOWN TIRE AS WELL. TOWED TO A DEALER, DEALER DID NOT KNOW WHY TIRE WENT INTO FLAMES. DEALER DID NOT OFFER NO EXPLANATION. CONTACTED TOYOTA SUGGESTED THAT WHEN THE TIRE WENT FLAT ALONG WITH HOT TEMPERATURES, HOT PAVEMENT, AND GASES WITHIN THE TIRE COULD HAVE COBUSTED AND CAUSED THE FIRE. TOYOTA DID REPLACE THE TIRE. I PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT AND MADE A RIGHT TURN TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE. I WAS HALFWAY INTO THE SPACE, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE PEDAL, WHEN I FELT THE VAN JERK-IT THEN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED, WENT OVER THE RAISED CURB IN FRONT,ONTO THE EXIT LANE OF THE SHOPPING CENTER,TURNED AROUND BACK INTO THE PARKING LOT(THE WHEEL WAS TURNED TO THE RIGHT STILL),HIT THE BUILDING BREAKING A COUPLE OF WINDOWS, AND THEN CAME TO A STOP AFTER HITTING A BARRICADED DUMPSTER ALONG THE WAY. ALL THE WHILE I WAS HITTING THE BRAKES, BUT THEY DIDN'T SEEM TO WORK. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED IN THE PROCESS,THE FRONT OF THE VAN WAS BADLY DAMAGED. THEY INSPECTED THE VAN LAST WEEK AND I AM WAITING TO HEAR THEIR REPORT. THE VAN HASN'T BEEN FIXED YET-I AM WAITING TO HEAR FROM TOYOTA AS TO THE NEXT COURSE OF ACTION. I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE AWD WHICH IS EQUIPPED WITH DUNLOP RUN-FLAT TIRES. THIS CAR WAS USED FOR ONE YEAR AND HAD MILEAGE OF 17,800 WHEN WE NOTICED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAD THE TREAD BARRIER EXPOSED. IT WAS EXPOSED ONLY ON THE OUTSIDE AND INSIDE EDGES OF THE TIRES. THE CAR WAS HANDLING EXTREMELY STRANGELY AND WAS STARTING TO WANDER ON TURNS. THIS WEEKEND CHANGING LANES THE CAR STARTED TO WANDER INTO AN ON-COMING TRAFFIC LANE WHEN CHANGING TO THE LEFT LANE OF A FOUR LANE ROAD. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ONLY TO BE TOLD THAT THERE WAS NO MILEAGE GUARANTEE ON THE TIRES AND THEY WERE $250/PIECE TO REPLACE. WHEN TOLD THAT THEY NEARLY CAUSED HEAD ON ACCIDENT THEY QUICKLY OFFERED TO REPLACE TWO OF THEM FREE AND THEN I COULD REPAIR THE OTHERS. THEY STILL WOULD NOT GUARANTEE THE TIRES FOR ANY FUTURE MILEAGE. I HAVE SINCE GONE ON THE WEB TO FIND THAT THESE TIRES HAVE BEEN REPORTED BY A HUGE NUMBER OF THE OWNERS TO HAVE A SIMILAR PROBLEM. I DO NOT THINK WE SHOULD HAVE AN ACCIDENT TO FIND OUT THAT A TIRE HAS AN IDENTIFIED SAFETY PROBLEM. THESE TIRES DO NOT WEAR CORRECTLY, THEY WEAR MUCH TOO FAST, AND THE TOYOTA SERVICE REP AT MY DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT WE SHOULD RUN THE TIRES AT A HIGHER THAN RECOMMENDED TIRE PRESSURE TO HELP. PURCHASED A NEW TOYOTA SIENNA LE MINIVAN. NOTICED WITHIN THE FIRST DAY OF OWNERSHIP THAT THE SLIDING DOORS WERE NOT OPENING AND LATCHING OPEN. THE DOORS WOULD OPEN, BUT WOULD NOT LATCH IN THE OPEN POSITION CAUSING THE POTENTIAL FOR THE DOORS TO CLOSE BY THEMSELVES. *JB
MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE SLIDING DOOR CABLE SNAPPED 07-25-2011. I ONLY HAVE 63,500 K ON THE MINIVAN. IT'S OUT OF WARRANTY. CALLED LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP AND THEY GAVE ME A QUOTE OF $1,092 TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS NOT AFFORDABLE FOR US. I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO CUT AND REMOVE THE CABLES AND OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR BY HAND AND HOPE THIS MODIFICATION DOES NOT CAUSE A SAFETY ISSUE. THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE TOYOTA SIENNA. RESULT OF THE BROKEN CABLE IS THE DOOR IS INOPERABLE TO THE POINT YOU COULD NOT EXIT THAT SIDE OF THE VAN.
I BOUGHT A NEW 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN IN JANUARY 2005. MY COMPLAINT IS ABOUT THE BRAKES. EVERY 10,000 MILES THE BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY GRINDING METAL TO METAL AND THE ROTORS NEED TO BE REPLACED. WHEN I HAD JUST 12,000 ON MY CAR TOYOTA STATED THAT I NEEDED NEW BRAKES AND ROTORS. IT IS NOW 2010 AND I HAVE CHANGED THE ROTORS AT LEAST TWICE AND THE BRAKES STILL GO OUT APPROX. EVERY 10,000 MILES. THE TOYOTA REP HIMSELF TOLD ME THAT TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THE BRAKING PROBLEMS WITH THERE VANS AND THAT THE VAN IS TO HEAVY FOR THE SMALL BRAKING SYSTEM ON THESE VANS. THAT REVELATION CAME FROM THE TOYOTA SERVICE REP. I BELIEVE THERE IS BOTH A DANGER AND A DEFECT WITH THESE BRAKES ESPECIALLY IF THE VAN BRAKES CAN NOT SUPPORT THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE AND 7 PASSENGERS. ON TOP OF THAT WE HAVE ONE TIRE ALMOST WORN OUT ALREADY DUE TO RUNNING LOW ON PRESSURE. HE ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE TEMPERATURE ROSE AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO OVERHEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE AIR CONDITIONER COMPRESSOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACE YET THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE BECUASE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOUR TIMES PRIOR UNDER FACTORY WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. WE HAVE A 2005 TOYOTE SIENNA MINIVAN..THE LAST ROW HAS A MIDDLE SEAT BELT THAT HANGS VERTICALLY TO A CLIP THAT THEN CAN SWEEP ACROSS THE MIDDLE PASSENGER TO THE ATTACHING BUCKLE. THIS VERTICAL PART ALSO RETRACTS INTO THE CEILING WHEN NOT IN USE. AFTER DROPPING OFF OUR MIDDLE PASSENGER - MY SON WHO WAS SEATED ADJACENT TO THE MIDDLE SEAT WRAPPED THE VERTICAL HANGING SEAT BELT AROUND HIS NECK. IT IS DESIGNED TO RETRACT SO IT STARTED CHOKING HIM. BECAUSE THE SEAT BELT IS ONLY UNLATCHED WITH AN ITEM SMALLER THAN MY FINGER I HAD TO LEAVE HIM TO GET A PEN FROM THE FRONT THAT WOULD RELEASE THE SEAT BELT. A NEAR MISS.
I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE IN A PARKING LOT. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, PLACE MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, PUT THE CAR INTO DRIVE, LIFTED MY FOOT OFF OF THE BRAKE AND THE CAR IMMEDIATELY BEGAN TO ACCELERATE WITHOUT MY FOOT EVEN TOUCHING THE ACCELERATOR. WHEN I PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE, THE BRAKE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING THE VEHICLE. THE VAN STRUCK ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED IN THE PARKING LOT, WENT OVER THE CURB OF THE PARKING LOT, DOWN AN EMBANKMENT INTO A RAVINE AND HEADED TOWARDS A TREE. THE PASSENGER THAT WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT THEN REACHED OVER AND PUT THE CAR INTO PARK, WHICH BROUGHT THE CAR TO A STOP. THE WHOLE TIME THE CAR WAS MOVING I WAS TRYING TO STOP THE CAR BY PUMPING THE BRAKES, BUT THEY DID NOT WORK. THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING THE ENTIRE TIME UNTIL THE PASSENGER STOPPED IT BY SHIFTING INTO PARK. THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. DAMAGE WAS DONE TO THE FRONT PASSENGER BUMPER AND SIDE OF THE CAR, THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE EXPLODED. AFTER THE ACCIDENT, THE BRAKES DID FUNCTION.
THERE IS A FAULT IN THE GAS SENSOR WHICH GOES FROM THE PEDAL TO THE ENGINE. THE CAR FAILS TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED, THEN SUDDENLY LEAPS FORWARD, THROWING THE OCCUPANTS BACK AGAINST THE SEATS. IT IS DANGEROUS TO TRY TO ENTER A HIGHWAY, PASS A SLOWER VEHICLE, OR RETAIN SPEED WHEN GOING UPHILL.
