AIRBAG LIGHT ON. DEALER SAYS A TINY PLASTIC PIECE IS MISSING. TOYOTA DOESN'T MAKE A PLASTIC PIECE REPLACEMENT (PROBABLY LESS THAN $1) SO INSTEAD I HAVE TO PAY ABOUT $3000 FOR AN ENTIRE NEW WIRE HARNESS. *TR
DOOR HINGE WELDING IN DRIVER DOOR BREAKS DUE TO INSUFFICIENT WELDING STRENGTH IN 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AND MAYBE OTHER YEARS. THERE STILL SEEMS NO RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT IT SEEMS TO BE A WIDESPREAD ISSUE ON THIS MODEL. APPROACHING FULL STOP REALIZED THAT ALTHOUGH BRAKING CAR WAS NOT SLOWING. BRAKE AGAIN AND AGAIN THEN CAR FELT AS IF COASTING IN FREE FALL THEN SHOT FORWARD LIKE AN AIR PLANE TAKING OFF. KEPT SLAMMING ON BRAKE; SUDDENLY CAR STOPPED MOVING FORWARD - NO HUGE JERK/LURCH AS ONE MIGHT EXPECT FROM SUDDEN STOP JUST......STOPPED. CONTINUED TO DRIVE HOME. A FEW TIMES I PRESSED ACCELERATOR AND THEN BRAKE TO COMPARE TO "EVENT" AND AM CONVINCED I WAS BRAKING THE ENTIRE TIME OF THE "EVENT". I AM TRAINED MOVEMENT SPECIALIST AND KNOW MY FOOT WAS ON BRAKE NOT ACCELERATOR. TOWED CAR TO DEALER TODAY. HELLO, IT LOOKS LIKE THE CHECK DOOR HINGE THAT CONNECTS TO THE ACTUAL DOOR FRAME LITERALLY FELL RIGHT OFF CAUSING THE DOOR TO MOVE AROUND FREELY. TOYOTA HAS ALREADY PUT OUT AN EXTENDED CUSTOMER CARE PROGRAM TO FIX THIS ISSUE BUT THE PRIOR OWNER DIDN'T APPEAR THAT HE NEEDED IT FIXED. THE PROBLEM NOW IS THAT IT MOVES AROUND FREELY AND CAN BE A MAJOR ISSUE. FOR EXAMPLE IF MY 3 YR OLD SON IS NEXT TO MY DOOR AND I HAVE IT OPENED IT COULD CLOSE ON HIM BY JUST SIMPLY THE WINDOW BLOWING THE DOOR CLOSED. THE MECHANISM THAT THE CHECK DOOR HANDLES IS NOT IN PLACE TO AVOID THIS. IT'S A BIT FRIGHTENING. HERE'S DOCUMENTATION REGARDING THIS CUSTOMER CARE PROGRAM EXTENSION. IT REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA REGARDING CABLE CORROSION FOR THE SPARE TIRE ASSEMBLY. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY REMOVED THE CABLE AND SPARE TIRE FROM UNDER THE CAR. I AGREED TO HAVE THIS WORK COMPLETED BASED ON AN ESTIMATE FROM THE DEALER THAT THE NEW PARTS TO HAVE THE SPARE TIRE REINSTALLED WOULD BE MADE AVAILABLE WITHIN 4 WKS. NOW ABOUT 7 WKS HAVE PASSED AND THERE IS STILL NO WORD FROM TOYOTA ABOUT WHEN THIS SPARE TIRE SOLUTION WILL BE MADE AVAILABLE. FOR 7 WKS I HAVE HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THE SPARE TIRE THE WELL OF MY TOYOTA WHILE IT BANGS AROUND AND TAKES UP A LOT OF SPACE. MY STORAGE IN THE CAR HAS BEEN COMPROMISED AND I HAVE TO PUT DELICATE THINGS AND GROCERIES AT OTHER PLACES IN THE CAR. ON MONDAY, OCT. 13, 2014, I WAS SLOWLY BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY WHEN MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN SUDDENLY ACCELERATED RAPIDLY AND UNCONTROLLABLY. I TRIED TO STOP THE VAN, BUT IT SPED BACKWARDS ACROSS THE STREET IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, RAN OVER A CURB, AND CRASHED INTO A PARKED CAR. THE CAR THAT MY VAN STRUCK PUSHED INTO ANOTHER CAR WHICH WAS ALSO DAMAGED. THIS WAS MOST FRIGHTENING AND UPSETTING, ESPECIALLY SINCE I HAVE LEARNED THAT THIS TYPE OF MALFUNCTION HAS BEEN REPORTED MANY TIMES TO TOYOTA. MY VAN WAS TOTALED, THE SECOND CAR MAY HAVE BEEN TOTALED AND THE THIRD CAR WILL NEED AT LEAST A NEW DOOR. A WOMAN WHO WAS IN THE THIRD CAR IS CLAIMING TO HAVE BEEN INJURED. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE SEATBELTS KEEP GETTING FOLDED OVER AND STUCK WHILE TRYING TO RETRACT. THEY STOP RETRACTING AND GET JAMMED. SOMETIMES THE JAM CAN BE WORKED OUT, BUT ONCE IT HAD TO GO TO THE DEALER AND BE TAKEN APART. I AM CONCERNED THAT IN AN ACCIDENT THE SEATBELT WILL FAIL SINCE IT CAN'T PROPERLY HOLD WHEN RETRACTING OR BEING PULLED OUT. *TR
SO, FAR NOTHING HAS HAPPENED, BUT MY SEAT BELT ON DRIVER SIDE GETS FOLDED OVER AND WILL NOT RELEASE AND SO YOU CAN'T PUT THE BELT ON, I DID TAKE TO TOYOTA A WHILE BACK AND THEY FOUND NOTHING WRONG, BUT IT DOESN'T HAPPEN ALL THE TIME, BUT FROM TIME TO TIME IT WILL CURL OVER AND YOU CAN'T MOVE THE BELT TO PUT IT ON. WITH A LOT OF EFFORT YOU CAN FINALLY UNCURL IT. I HAVE BEEN IN PLACES WHERE YOU STOP GO SHOP AND COME OUT AND THERE YOU ARE STRUGGLING TO GET THE BELT ON SO YOU CAN BUCKLE UP AND BE ON YOUR WAY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER ASSEMBLY WAS CORRODED AND RUSTED AND CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE SPARE TIRE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTICE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V273000 (TIRES) IN DECEMBER OF 2014. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.

215/65R-16 MICHELIN DEFENDER SL; LESS 15K MILES DRIVEN A CUT THROUGH OUTER LAYERS OF SIDEWALL AND WINDINGS VISIBLE. THOUGHT IT WAS LIKELY SOME UNNOTICED ROAD HAZARD UNTIL HAPPENED TO SECOND TIRE: AGAIN, DO NOT RECALL ANY INCIDENT LIKELY TO HAVE CUT THE TIRE. IN 40+ YEARS OF DRIVING, ONLY THESE TWO SIDEWALL CUTS, ON SAME MAKE OF TIRE, MAKE ME WONDER IF THE COMPOUND IS INHERENTLY WEAK. PHOTO AVAILABLE OF SECOND CUT. *TR
THE FRONT PASSENGER DOOR STARTING POPPING. THE FRONT DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL SPOT WELDS FAILED. TOYOTA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THERE WAS A PROBLEM AND ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT I'M RIGHT OUTSIDE THE WARRANTY PERIOD. TOYOTA REFUSES TO FIX THE ISSUE. *TR

THE TECHNICIAN PLACED THE SPARE TIRE IN THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY DUE TO THE PART NOT BEING AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

ON A STRAIGHT CLEAR, DRY ROAD THE TRACTION CONTROL SYSTEM ACTIVATED UNDER CONSTANT SPEED SEVERAL TIMES. WHEN ACTIVATED, THE INDICATOR LIGHT FLASH, THE BUZZER SOUNDED AND THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED AUTOMATICALLY. *TR
THE DASH IN MY TOYOTA SIENNA IS LITERALLY SHINY AND MELTING! IT IS STICKY! I HAVE NEVER USED A PRODUCT ON THE DASH ONLY DAMP CLOTH TO CLEAN. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY FOB FAILED TO UNLOCK OR LOCK THE DOORS AND FAILED TO ACTIVATE THE SLIDING DOORS. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BATTERIES WERE CHANGED FROM THE KEY FOB BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED FROM THE DEALER THAT ALL FIVE DOOR ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 112,000.
STEERING WHEEL WOULD SUDDENLY BE HARD TO TURN AT CERTAIN SPOTS WHILE DRIVING. *TR
THE DRIVER SIDE,FRONT PASSENGER AND BACK PASSENGER SEAT BELTS HAVE ALL FOLDED OVER SO THAT THEY WOULD NOT RETRACT AFTER BEING USED. THIS REQUIRED REPAIR TO MAKE THE SEAT BELTS USABLE AGAIN. IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH THE SEAT BELTS MAY NOT WORK. *TR
I HAVE A 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA AND THREE OTHER TOYOTA VEHICLES. BECAUSE I VACATION AND MY EXTENDED FAMILIES LIVE IN TRINIDAD I SHIPPED THE VEHICLE THERE FOR MY USED. WHEN I SAW THE RECALL, IT WAS THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID ASSEMBLY. FOR MORE THAN A YEAR I TRIED TO HAVE TOYOTA RESOLVED THIS PROBLEM. NOWHERE IN THE RECALL NOTICE SAY ANYTHING ABOUT THE VEHICLE LOCATION. IT'S A WORLDWIDE RECALL, SO I THOUGHT IT CAN BE FIXED AT A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP IN TRINIDAD. I WAS TOLD THAT THEY WOULD LOOK INTO IT. I SAID IF THEY GAVE ME THE PART I CAN TAKE IT THERE AND HAVE THE AUTHORIZED DEALER INSTALL THE PART. NOW IT A PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY SAY THE VEHICLE CAN ONLY BE FIXED IN THE USA. IT NEVER SAID ANYTHING ABOUT THAT IN THE NOTICE. I BELIEVED TOYOTA HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY TO FIX MY VEHICLE WITH SOME KIND OF WORKING TOGETHER WITH ME TO RESOLVE THIS MATTER. WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP ME IN THIS MATTER, I DON'T OWE ANYTHING. I AM STILL PAYING FOR 2 OF MY NEW TOYOTA CARS. THE PART IN THE SHIFT INTERLOCK SYSTEM HAS A COMPONENT THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID WHICH PREVENT THE SHIFT LEVER FROM MOVING OUT OF THE "P" POSITION UNLESS THE IGNITION IS ON AND THE BRAKES PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT THE SOLENOID COULD BE DAMAGE AND THE SHIFT LEVER COULD MOVED OUT OF "P" POSITION WITH DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. RESULTING IN THE VEHICLE ROLL AWAY, WHICH COULD CAUSE A CRASH.
FIRST, I NOTICED SOME OIL STAINS ON MY DRIVE WAY, THEN I DROVE MY MINIVAN TO A LOCAL TOYOTA CAR DEALER FOR CHECK UP AND ROUTINE OIL CHANGE. NEXT DAY, I NOTICED A BIGGER OIL STAIN. ANYWAY, I HAD AN APPOINTMENT AND HAVE TO DRIVE MY MINIVAN TO MY DENTIST OFFICE, ON THE HIGHWAY, I SAW SMOKE CAME OUT OF MY FRONT HOOD. THEN, I DROVE IT TO THE SAME TOYOTA DEALER AFTERWARDS. IT WAS QUITE SCARY DRIVING AND SEEING SMOKE CAME OUT OF MY FRONT HOOD ESPECIALLY WITH MY YOUNG DAUGHTER ON BOARD TODAY. AT ONE MOMENT, I THOUGHT MY CAR WILL BE ON FIRE. ON THE PAPER, I WAS TOLD THAT MY LEAKING IS FROM RACK AND PINION STEERING SYSTEM. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE, AND THE PERSON WHO ASSISTED ME STATE HIS SURPRISE OF THIS RACK AND PINION LEAKING FOR SUCH A LOW MILEAGE CAR. I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A MECHANICAL DAMAGE REPORT TOWARD TOYOTA DEFECTIVE PARTS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE SUPPORTS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
2005 TOYOTA SIENNA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL INQUIRY ON SLIDING DOORS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR, WOULD STOP FUNCTIONING AT TIMES. *JB
IN THE PAST MONTH, I HAVE HAD MAJOR ISSUES WITH THREE OF THE DOORS ON MY 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE. THE TAB WELDS ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR HAVE SNAPPED, THE CABLE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR SNAPPED AND THE DRIVER'S SIDE SLIDING DOOR ONLY WORKS MANUALLY. WHEN I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE, I WAS TOLD THAT THE SLIDING DOORS WOULD BE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY AND THAT THE FRONT DOOR, HAD AN EXTENDED CUSTOMER CARE PROGRAM BECAUSE OF A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE WELDS. OBVIOUSLY THIS WAS A BIG RELIEF FOR ME BECAUSE OF THE COST OF REPAIRING THE DOORS ($ 4,000+). WHEN I WAS TRANSFERRED FROM THE CALL TAKER TO TOYOTA ITSELF, I WAS THEN TOLD NONE OF THE DOORS ARE COVERED. I WAS TOLD THE DOORS WERE COVERED UNDER AN EXTENDED CUSTOMER CAR WARRANTY BECAUSE IT IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE DOORS HAS EXPIRED SO TOYOTA WON'T COVER THEM. AS OF NOW THE PASSENGER SIDE SLIDER WILL NOT OPEN BECAUSE THE SNAPPED CABLE JAMMED THE DOOR SHUT. THE DRIVER'S DOOR MAKES TWO LOUD "CLUNKS" WHEN OPEN AND CLOSED AND IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THAT DOOR BECOMES INOPERABLE. I WOULD THINK THAT NOT BEING ABLE TO EXIT ONE OF THE DOORS WOULD BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY RISK AND IT IS OBVIOUS TOYOTA KNOWS OF THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE THEY ALREADY HAD THE EXTENDED WARRANTY.
MY 5 YR OLD DAUGHTER WAS SITTING IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND MY ALMOST 10 YR OLD SON WAS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I WAS STANDING RIGHT NEXT TO THE DRIVER'S SEAT INSIDE THE OPEN DOOR, THE CAR WAS PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. MY SON FOR SOME REASON DECIDED TO SHIFT THE CAR OUT OF PARK. THE KEY WAS NOT IN THE IGNITION AND NOBODY WAS PRESSING ON THE BRAKE. THE MINIVAN STARTED TO ROLL A FEW FEET BACK AND I SCREAMED AND LUCKILY HE PUT IT BACK INTO PARK AND IT STOPPED. THIS IS A DEFECT IN THE SHIFT LOCK SOLENOID THAT WAS RECALLED. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE A FEW MONTHS BACK AND I TOOK MY MINIVAN TO A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP LESS THAN A MONTH AGO FOR THIS TO BE FIXED, APPARENTLY SOMETHING WENT VERY WRONG. *TR
DRIVING 45 TO 50 MPH ON A ROAD ON A DRY SUNNY DAY. SUDDENLY VSC LIGHT CAME ON AND WARNING BEEP AND AT THE SAME TIME THE BRAKES ENGAGED CAUSING A RAPID SLOW DOWN OF THE VAN. I ALMOST SWERVED INTO THE NEXT LANE DUE TO THE BRAKES ENGAGING. THIS HAPPENED 3 TIMES IN ONE MORNING. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS IT COULD CAUSE A COLLISION, ESPECIALLY AT HIGHER SPEEDS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE A SPARE TIRE WAS ADDED TO THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT AS A TEMPORARY REMEDY BECAUSE THE PART WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
THE SPARE TIRE FROM OUR 2005 TOYOTA SIENNA FELL OFF AND WAS LOST DUE TO THE IDENTIFED DEFECT IN THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER CABLE. THE SPARE TIRE FELL OFF AFTER THE DEFECT HAD BEEN IDENTIFIED THROUGH A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA, BUT BEFORE TOYOTA HAD A REMEDY FOR THE DEFECT. WHEN A REMEDY WAS IDENTIFIED, WE BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER FOR THE FIX BUT THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE ALREADY LOST SPARE TIRE. TOYOTA SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING OUR SPARE TIRE DUE TO THIS IDENTIFIED DEFECT.

THE ACCELERATOR STUCK ON THIS VAN AS I WAS PASSING ANOTHER VEHICLE ON A RURAL, TWO LANE ROAD. AS SOON AS I DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR TO PASS, I KNEW SOMETHING WAS WRONG. THE GAS PEDAL STAYED DOWN EVEN AFTER I REMOVED MY FOOT AND THE VAN CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE EVEN FASTER EVEN THOUGH I WAS NOW HITTING THE BRAKES HARD! WITH CURVES IN THE ROAD APPROACHING IN ABOUT A MILE, I HAD TO DO SOMETHING FAST! I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKES WITH BOTH FEET NOW AND THE VAN CONTINUED TO SPEED UP. I WAS ABLE TO SHIFT IT INTO NEUTRAL, ALL THE WHILE CONTINUING TO STAND ON THE BRAKES. THE ENGINE REVVED EVEN FASTER BUT I WAS ABLE TO GET THE VAN TURNED OFF THE ROAD INTO A FARM FIELD ACCESS DRIVE. THE VAN STILL WASN'T STOPPING BUT AT LEAST I WAS OFF THE ROAD AND NOT GOING TO HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE. AS THE VAN CONTINUED TO MOVE, I THOUGHT ABOUT BAILING OUT BUT THANKFULLY, I DIDN'T. THE VAN WAS STILL GOING FAST ENOUGH IT COULD'VE RUN OVER ME AND I HAD NO IDEA WHERE IT WOULD END UP IF I GOT OUT! BY THE GRACE OF GOD, THE VAN FINALLY STOPPED AFTER I STARTED TURNING THE WHEEL HARD TO THE LEFT. I SHIFTED IT INTO PARK AND SHUT IT OFF WHILE I SAT THERE SHAKING AND TRYING TO DECIDE WHO TO CALL FIRST. THIS SITUATION COULD HAVE TURNED OUT EXTREMELY BAD HAD THE CIRCUMSTANCES BEEN DIFFERENT. THANK GOD THERE WAS NO ONE IN FRONT OF ME WHILE THIS WAS GOING ON, I WASN'T IN A CONGESTED AREA OF HOUSES OR OTHER VEHICLES OR ON A BUSY HIGHWAY. I'M SO GLAD ONE OF OUR BOYS WASN'T DRIVING THIS WHEN IT HAPPENED! THIS WAS THE SCARIEST THING THAT'S EVER HAPPENED TO ME WHILE DRIVING OVER 30 YEARS! THE VAN WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED IT AND HAVE HAD IT SERVICED FAITHFULLY. I'M WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THEM WHEN THEY WILL BE ABLE TO LOOK AT IT. *TR
WHEN USING THE REMOTE BUTTONS FOR THE POWER SLIDER DOORS, THERE IS A LOUD POPPING/GRINDING NOISE AND THE DOORS FAIL TO OPEN. THE FIRST TIME WE REALIZED THIS WAS A CONCERN, THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY. OUR CONCERN IS THAT ONE DAY THE DOORS WILL QUIT WORKING ALL TOGETHER AND OUR CHILDREN WILL NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE IN THE EVENT OF AN EMERGENCY.
POWER SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR FAILED IN THE OPEN POSITION. AUTO-DOOR TURNED OFF AND FINALLY WITH MUCH EFFORT CLOSED THE DOOR MANUALLY. DOOR WILL NOW NOT OPEN WITHOUT THE MAJOR EFFORT OF A FULL GROWN ADULT. FAILURE WAS SUDDEN AND UNANNOUNCED. IN CASE OF AN ACCIDENT OR EMERGENCY, THERE IS NO WAY ANY MID OR REAR SEAT CHILDREN OR SMALL ADULTS COULD OPEN THIS DOOR ENOUGH TO EGRESS THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL PEOPLE WITH THE SAME FAILURE REPORT HAVING TO DRIVE WITH THE DOOR JAMMED OPEN TO GET TO REPAIR SHOPS. FAILURE OF THIS DRIVE CABLE (AND SOMETIMES THE ASSOCIATED MOTOR) IS WELL DOCUMENTED ON-LINE, EVEN IN MUCH YOUNGER VEHICLES. TOYOTA EVEN ADDED IT TO THE EXTENDED SERVICE PLAN. *JS

THE REAR DOOR STRUTS ON THIS SIENNA BEGAN FAILING ABOUT A WEEK AGO. THE VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 172000 MILES, BUT STILL RUNS VERY WELL, EXCEPT THAT THE REAR DOOR IS NOW BARELY USABLE. MY VEHICLE HAS A MANUAL REAR DOOR WHICH SIMPLY IS SO DIFFICULT TO ACCESS THAT IT IS BARELY USABLE. DRIVER IS AT RISK IF SUDDEN STEERING AWAY FROM AN EVENT IS NECESSARY DUE TO THE EFFORT AND INCONSISTENT NATURE OF THE STEERING. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO BRAKE FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, HE WAS TURNING AROUND IN THE DRIVEWAY, AND WHEN HE PRESSED DOWN WITH HIS RIGHT FOOT, THE ENGINE ROARED AND THE VEHICLE JUMPED FORWARD UNTIL HE APPLIED MORE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKE PEDAL, AT WHICH POINT THE VEHICLE STOPPED. THE CONSUMER REALIZED THE BRAKE PEDAL COULD BE DEPRESSED EASILY BELOW THE LEVEL OF THE GAS PEDAL, HENCE THE ROAR AND SURGE. THE CONSUMER WAS INFORMED BRAKE PEDALS WERE NO LONGER ADJUSTABLE AND WHEN THE MECHANIC CHECKED THE VEHICLE, THE BRAKE MASTER CYLINDER WAS FAILING AND ACCOUNTED FOR THE BRAKES NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY AT TIMES.
THE DRIVER POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILED. THE DOOR OPENED AND CLOSED ONLY HALFWAY AND WAS STUCK. OUR 2 INFANTS WERE IN THE CAR. THIS WAS DANGEROUS AS MY WIFE WAS AN HOUR AWAY FROM HOME WITH A DOOR THAT WOULD NOT CLOSE IN 15 DEGREE WEATHER. A DOOR THAT WILL NOT CLOSE IS DANGEROUS AS FOR MANY THE ONLY CHOICE IS TO DRIVE HOME WITH THE DOOR OPEN. I WAS ABLE TO CUT THE CABLES TO GET THE DOOR TO CLOSE. *TR

THE DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WILL OPEN ABOUT 4 INCHES THEN RETURNS TO CLOSE. THERE IS NOTHING BLOCKING THE TRACK. ESTIMATES THAT I HAVE READ HAVE BEEN ANYWHERE FROM $1500 - $2500 TO GET THIS FIXED. I HAVE THREE SMALL CHILDREN, ONE OF WHOM IS DISABLED. IF THERE WAS AN EMERGENCY, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET MY CHILDREN OUT OF THE VEHICLE QUICKLY. I DO NOT HAVE THE FINANCES TO GET THIS FIXED.
