THE MOTOR ON THE SLIDING POWER DOOR FAILED. I CALLED TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPAIR IT. I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON MY CAR BUT IT IS NOT A COVERED COMPONENT. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR JAMMED IN AN OPEN POSITION AND WOULD NOT CLOSE. THE DOOR EVENTUALLY CLOSED AFTER CONSTANT FORCE WAS APPLIED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THE DOOR WOULD REQUIRE SEVERAL REPLACEMENT PARTS WHICH INCLUDED THE SLIDING DOOR BRACKET, MOTOR, HINGE ASSEMBLY, AND DOOR WEATHER STRIP. SLIDING DOOR WON'T CLOSE ON TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN. THE DEALER CLAIMS THAT THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE PLATINUM EXTENDED WARRANTY, BUT ALSO STATES THAT IF IT IS NOT FIXED, "THE DOOR WILL EVENTUALLY FALL OFF." *TT
TOYOTA SIENNA 2006 (XLE LIMITED) SLIDING DOOR PROBLEM: SLIDING DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE GOT STRUCK WHEN OPENED AND NEVER CLOSING BACK. SHOWED IT TO DEALER AND HE CONFIRMED THAT THE MOTOR FAILED AND NEED A REPLACEMENT. *TT
I WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATE 25-30 MPH ON A DRY, LEVEL STREET. A CAR STOPPED IN FRONT OF ME TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN. I APPLIED THE BRAKES AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I RELEASED AND REAPPLIED THE BRAKES AGAIN AND AGAIN NO RESPONSE. I WAS ABLE TO SWERVE TO THE RIGHT INTO AN EMPTY PARKING LOT TO AVOID HITTING THE CAR OR ANOTHER COLLISION. AFTER SWERVING AND REAPPLYING THE BRAKES A 3RD OR 4TH TIME I WAS ABLE TO COME TO A STOP. MY KIDS AND I WERE SEVERELY SHAKEN, BUT NOT INJURED. WE DECIDED THIS PROBLEM WAS DUE TO THE MASTER CYLINDER. WE REPLACED IT AND HAVE HAD 3 MORE INCIDENTS SINCE REPLACING THE MASTER CYLINDER. 1 WAS IN REVERSE LEAVING MY DRIVE WAY. I WOUND UP HITTING AND EMBANKMENT ACROSS THE STREET TO STOP ME. THIS WAS A SLIGHT DOWN HILL ROLL IN REVERSE. I WENT FROM PARKED TO OUT OF CONTROL. I NEVER TOUCHED THE ACCELERATOR AND HIT THE BRAKE MULTIPLE TIMES AND EVEN TRIED SHIFTING BACK INTO PARK (KNOWING THAT'S BAD FOR THE TRANSMISSION), NOTHING WORKED. AFTER GETTING STOPPED AND PULLING FORWARD EVERYTHING SEEMED NORMAL AGAIN. MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING IN TRAFFIC AND WE WERE APPROACHING A TURN AND HAD TO MERGE IN TO PERPENDICULAR TRAFFIC. APPROX SPEED 25-35 MPH. THE BRAKES AGAIN COMPLETELY FAILED AND WE HAD TO SWERVE THROUGH A TRAFFIC LIGHT IN TO A FREE LANE OF TRAFFIC TO AVOID A REAR END COLLISION WITH THE CARS INFRONT OF US. WE ORDERED ANOTHER MASTER CYLINDER AND WERE PREPARING TO INSTALL IT. TODAY THE BRAKES FAILED AGAIN AT A STOP SIGN (APPROX SPEED 5-10 MPH) I HAD BEEN STOPPED AND STARTED TO EASE IN TO THE MAIN ROAD WHEN I SAW A CAR COMING FROM THE LEFT. *TR
ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE AUTOMATIC PASSENGER SIDE REAR SLIDER DOOR AND IT BECAME INOPERABLE BEFORE CLOSING. ALARM/BEEP ALERTED THAT THE DOOR WAS NOT CLOSED, REMAINING OPEN ABOUT SIX INCHES AWAY FROM CLOSING COMPLETELY. THE DOOR REMAINED STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION WITH FIVE PASSENGERS (TWO ADULTS/THREE CHILDREN) TRAVELING FROM THERE DESTINATION IN A EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AND UNSECURED VEHICLE TO THERE HOME. THE SEVEN YEAR OLD TRIPLETS AND ADULTS IN THE AUTO HAD BEEN EXPOSED TO A VERY UNSAFE AND DANGEROUS FORM TRANSPORTATION. CABLES HAD TO BE RELEASED IN ORDER TO CLOSE THE DOOR, AND CAUSED SEVERAL FAILED ATTEMPTS TO PROPERLY SECURE THE DOOR, SINCE CABLE LINES ARE PREVENTING COMPLETE CLOSURE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TOYOTA DEALER AND DIAGNOSED WITH A MOTOR ASSEMBLY FAILURE AT A COST OF $1,750 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. THIS HAS CAUSED A SERIOUSLY DANGEROUS PROBLEM WHEN EXITING VEHICLE.
I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. I HAULED MY DAUGHTER'S BELONGINGS TO COLLEGE AND AFTER WE UNLOADED THE VAN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I BROUGHT IT TO THE DEALER SINCE IT WAS A 2006 WITH 40000 MILES ON IT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COVERED, HOWEVER SINCE THE CAR WAS PUT INTO SERVICE 11/05 IT WAS NOT COVERED. THEY SAID THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG AND WIRING HARNESS FOR $2500.00. AFTER RESEARCHING YOUR WEBSITE I REALIZED THERE WERE A TOTAL OF 102 AIRBAG COMPLAINTS FOR THAT YEAR WHILE ALL OTHER YEARS COMBINED THERE WERE 80 (AVERAGE 6/MODEL YEAR). I DID CONTACT THE CUSTOMER SERVICE MANAGER AND AM WAITING FOR A REPLY TO SEE WHAT THEY WILL COVER BEFORE I HAVE THE REPAIRS. THE MANAGER DID SAY THERE WAS A SERVICE BULLETIN AND DOES NOT KNOW IF A RECALL WILL HAPPEN IN THE FUTURE. *TR
THE CABLE SUPPORTING THE AUTOMATIC RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER DOOR ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA SNAPPED WHILE TRYING TO OPEN DOOR USING THE AUTOMATIC BUTTON OVER THE DRIVER SEATING AREA, NEARLY STRIKING MY CHILD AS HE WAITED TO GET IN FROM THE OUTSIDE, AT THIS TIME, THE DOOR IS PERMANENTLY SHUT AND CANNOT BE OPENED AUTOMATICALLY OR MANUALLY. THIS CAN BE A SERIOUS ISSUE IF SOMEONE SITTING IN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE AUTOMOBILE NEEDS TO EXIT QUICKLY FOR AN EMERGENCY. THE COST TO FIX THIS SERIOUS ISSUE IS BEYOND WHAT I CAN AFFORD. *TR
MY DRIVERS SIDE POWER SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR CABLE JAMMED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE OUT WITH MY FAMILY. I HAD 2 SMALL CHILDREN IN THE BACK SEAT. I WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE DOOR, EVEN AFTER TURNING OFF THE POWER SWITCH TRYING TO USE IT "MANUALLY". HAD TO CALL A FRIEND TO TAKE US HOME, AS I COULD NOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE DOOR OPEN. MY HUSBAND WAS ABLE TO PULL ON THE DOOR HARD ENOUGH TO SNAP THE STRIPPED CABLE, AND THE DOOR WILL NOW FUNCTION MANUALLY. UPON INSPECTION, IT APPEARS THAT THE PROTECTIVE COATING ON THE CABLE WORE OFF, EXPOSING THE BARE WIRE WHICH STARTED TO UNCOIL...THUS CAUSING THE DOOR TO JAM. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE REPAIR WILL COST ME $1800.00. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, AND I AM INSISTING ON A RECALL FOR THE POWER DOOR CABLES. *TR
THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT WAS ON IN MY VEHICLE. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT THE LEFT AIRBAG AND HARNESS WERE DEFECTIVE AND THAT I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE REPLACEMENT SINCE THE VEHICLE IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY.
DRIVERS SIDE POWER DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY. HAD TO CUT CABLE TO SHUT DOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. THE CONTACT THEN PERFORMED A JUMP START ON THE BATTERY IN ORDER TO START THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED A SECOND TIME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS, WHERE THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE, BUT STATED THAT THERE WAS A DRAW ON THE BATTERY THAT WAS RELATED TO THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 67,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
AIRBAG SRS KEEPS FLASHING, TOOK TO TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THE WIRING HARNESS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I HAVE PLATINUM COVERAGE AND WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT COVERED BE WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE ON HAS 69,000 MILES, AND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAVE ONLY BEEN DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR AND THE LIGHT JUST CAME ON AND HAS NOT WENT OUT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO JERK VIOLENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHO ADVISED THAT THE SUSPENSION AND FRONT STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE WHO DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON DASH AND STAYED ON; TOOK TO TOYOTA DEALER TO HAVE CHECKED. AFTER $99 DIAGNOSTIC WAS TOLD "TECHNICIAN PULLED DTC CODE B0111 OPEN IN SIDE SQUIB B CIRCUIT HARNESS. OPEN IN HARNESS BETWEEN RIGHT FRONT SIDE AIR BAG AND ECU. ADVISED US THAT AIRBAG HARNESS AND AIR BAG NEEDED TO BE REPLACED; COST WAS $2,300.00." SERVICE ADVISOR CALLED DSPM WHO AUTHORIZED COVERAGE ON PARTS ONLY BUT THAT WE WOULD STILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THE LABOR; $800.00. PART NUMBERS NEEDED ARE 82162-08340 AND 73910-AE031. THIS IS A 2006 SIENNA THAT WE PURCHASED USED IN FEBRUARY 2007. CURRENTLY HAVE NOT REPAIRED/REPLACED AIRBAG HARNESS AND AIRBAG AS WE WERE JUST NOTIFIED YESTERDAY ABOUT FINDINGS. HAVING GONE ON LINE AND READ ABOUT NUMEROUS OTHER 2006 SIENNA WITH SAME PROBLEM IT APPEARS TO ME THAT IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL AS IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT SAFETY FACTOR THAT SEEMS TO HAVE A MAJOR DEFECT IN THE AIRBAG HARNESS AND AIRBAG. WE WILL BE WATCHING THE NHTSA DATABASE TO SEE HOW THIS SITUATION IS CONCLUDED. *TR

THE PASSENGER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR FAILS TO REMAIN CLOSED EVEN WHILE THE LOCKS ARE ENGAGED. THE BACK LATCH OF THE DOOR FAILS TO KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING, SOMETIMES THE DOOR SLIDES INTO THE FULL OPEN POSITION WHILE DRIVING. THE FIRST FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER TWO YEARS AND 35,000 MILES OF OWNERSHIP AND HAS RECURRED AFTER 5 YEARS AND 92,000 MILES. THE MOTOR AND DOOR LATCH WAS INITIALLY REPLACED. TOYOTA CORPORATION AND DEALERSHIP SAYS THE VEHICLE IS NOW OUT OF WARRANTY AND REPAIR COSTS ARE ESTIMATED AT $1,100 - $1,800. THIS IS NOW A SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS IN THE REAR SEATS AS SOMETIMES AFTER FORCING THE DOOR LATCH CLOSED, THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN MANUALLY FROM THE OUTSIDE OR INSIDE.. *TT
IN AUGUST 2011, THE AIRBAG INDICATOR LIGHT CAME ON IN OUR 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TOYOTA DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FOLLOWING ERROR CODE WAS REPORTED: B0111 (OPEN IN SIDE SQUIB - RH). I WAS ADVISED TO REPLACE THE RIGHT SIDE WIRING HARNESS AND PASSENGER FRONT SEAT AIR BAG. TOTAL REPAIR COST WAS QUOTED AT $2,200. I WAS ADVISED THAT UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED THAT NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY. A CHECK ONLINE SHOWED THAT THIS IS A COMMON FAILING OF THE 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THERE WERE NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS. THE COMMON THEME SEEMED TO BE THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED AFTER 60,000 MILES. MY SERVICE TECHNICIAN AGREED WITH ME THAT THIS WIRING HARNESS FAILURE IS NOT THE RESULT OF NORMAL VEHICLE "WEAR AND TEAR". THIS FAILURE REPRESENTS A MANUFACTURING / DESIGN DEFECT. THE TOYOTA REPRESENTATIVES THAT I SPOKE WITH OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE WITH THE REPAIR COST. THEY ADVISED THAT A RECALL HAD NOT BEEN ISSUED, AND THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY, THEREFORE THEY HAD NO OBLIGATION OR WILLINGNESS TO ASSIST. TOYOTA IS AWARE THAT THIS IS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES, BUT THEY HAVE FAILED TO ADDRESS IT. NO DOUBT THE FINANCIAL COST OF A RECALL IS A FACTOR IN THEIR DECISION. *TT
06 TOYOTA SIENNA AIR BAG SENSOR LIGHTS UP INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER SAYS PROBLEM WITH LOOSE CONNECTOR FOR SIDE AIRBAG ON PASSENGER SIDE. THE CONNECTOR CANNOT BE TIGHTENED OR INDIVIDUALLY REPLACED. WE MUST REPLACE ENTIRE AIRBAG AT COST OF $2,500. NO AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY WITH LIGHT ON. MANY COMPLAINTS IN INTERNET FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED WITH A RECALL. *KB
AIRBAG LIGHT WARNING LIGHT WAS FLASHING, STARTED JUST AFTER 60K MI. WENT TO DEALER TO HAVE DIAGNOSED. B0111, B0116 CODES. COMPUTER AT DEALER STATES THAT DRIVER'S SIDE WIRING SQUIB IS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. SEEMS TO BE A KNOWN ISSUE BECAUSE REPAIR INSTRUCTIONS WERE AVAILABLE WITHOUT TAKING APART MY VEHICLE. WARRANTY ON THIS PART WAS EXTENDED TO 60K, BUT DEALER WILL NOT COVER REPAIR AT 61K. LOOKING INTO IT FURTHER, DEALERSHIP CHOSE NOT TO COVER BECAUSE MY VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN SERVICED AT THAT DEALERSHIP (35 MILES FROM MY HOME AND OVER A MOUNTAIN PASS). ONLY OWNED VEHICLE FOR A YEAR. QUOTED PRICE OF $2600 TO REPAIR. IN THE MEANTIME, ENTIRE AIRBAG SYSTEM ON VEHICLE IS DISABLED. PART IS BACK-ORDERED, DEALER DID NOT HAVE A SENSE OF WHEN IT WOULD BE AVAILABLE. *TT
WHILE RECONFIGURING THE MIDDLE ROW SEATS OF MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LE, SEVERAL 15 AND 17 MM BOLTS FELL LOOSE FROM THE SEAT. I REMOVED THE MOLDINGS AROUND THE SEATS AND INSPECTED THE SITUATION. MY FINDINGS, DOCUMENTED WITH PICTURES, REVEALED SEVERAL LOOSE BOLTS IN THE ASSEMBLE ATTACHING THE SEAT BACK WITH THE SEAT BOTTOM. THREE BOLTS HAD COME COMPLETELY LOOSE WHILE THREE MORE WERE NO LONGER TIGHT IN THE PASSENGER SIDE MIDDLE-ROW SEAT. FOUR BOLTS WERE NO LONGER TIGHT IN THE DRIVER SIDE MIDDLE-ROW SEAT. *TR
I OWN A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WHICH STARTED DISPLAYING AN AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AT ABOUT 90,000 MILES. I HAD AN INDEPENDENT AIRBAG TECHNICIAN RUN DIAGNOSTICS. HE FOUND A HISTORY OF INCREASED RESISTANCE IN THE CONNECTOR UNDER THE DRIVERS SEAT. HE STATED THAT HE HAD SEEN THIS IN THE DRIVER AND FRONT PASSENGER CONNECTIONS OF MANY 2006 SIENNAS. I FOUND ONLINE THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM OF A CRITICAL SAFETY SYSTEM FOR WHICH TOYOTA IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY. OWNERS ARE PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR REPAIRS ONLY TO HAVE IT FAIL AGAIN WHICH SUGGESTS THAT TOYOTA HAS NO IDEA AS TO THE ROOT OF THE PROBLEM. HOPEFULLY, I HAVE SOLVED MY PROBLEM BY APPLYING PENETROX (AN ANTI CORROSIVE ZINC PASTE FOR ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS) TO THE CONNECTORS UNDER BOTH FRONT SEATS AND CONNECTING AND DISCONNECTING EACH ABOUT 25 TIMES TO CLEAN THE CONTACTS. THE FIX HAS LASTED 2 MONTHS SO FAR. *TR
MY POWER SLIDING DOOR IS STUCK CLOSED. THIS HAPPENED AFTER IT OPENED PROPERLY USING THE POWER BUTTON, BUT WHEN I CLOSED IT, IT STOPPED HALFWAY. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS USING THE POWER BUTTONS TO CLOSE IT, AS WELL AS TURNING OFF THE POWER DOOR FEATURE, IT STILL WOULDN'T CLOSE. SINCE I WAS OUT WITH MY 2 CHILDREN, I FORCED IT CLOSED WITH THE HELP OF SOMEONE ELSE. NOW IT WON'T OPEN, MANUALLY OR POWERED, AND I AM AFRAID OF DOING MORE DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE BY TRYING TO FORCE IT OPEN. *TR
THE REAR GATE STRUTS / SUSPENSION HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED. THE STRUTS WILL NOT HOLD OPEN THE REAR GATE AT ALL. MY WIFE AND CHILDREN HAVE GREAT DIFFICULTY (IN MANY INSTANCES IT IS IMPOSSIBLE AND / OR DANGEROUS) HOLDING OPEN THE GATE WITH ONE HAND OR HEAD AND TRYING TO LOAD OR UNLOAD SIMULTANEOUSLY. IT APPEARS THAT THERE WAS A PARTIAL RECALL FOR SIENNAS WITH THE POWER LIFTGATE, BUT WE DO NOT HAVE A POWER LIFTGATE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 30 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THE AIR BAGS SENSOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS INDICATED THAT THE FLOOR HARNESS WIRING FOR THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000, AND THE CURRENT WAS 75,343.
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND TOOK THE CAR FOR 60,000 SERVICE MENTAINANCE AT 62,000 AND THE DEALER SAID PASSENGER SIDE WIRE HAS TO REWIRE AND QUOTE ME 2400 TO FIX. IT IT IS A WIRE HARNESS FAILURE, IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT AND TOYOTA HAS TO RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE AND NHTSA HAS TO FOLLOW UP THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. *TT
IN EARLY 2011 OUR AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A FEW DAYS IT TURNED OFF. AROUND JULY 11 2011 THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN AND DID NOT TURN OFF. WE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICE BY A TOYOTA DEALERSHIP ON 7/28/2011 (34,268 MILEAGE). THEY "REPLACED THE AIR BAG PER TSB". IN MID OCTOBER 2011 THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN. THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ON 10/31/2011 (36,755 MILEAGE) AND THE SAME DEALERSHIP AND THEY "REPLACED FLOOR WIRE HARNESS PASSENGER SIDE". IN LATE 2012 THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN BUT EVENTUALLY TURNED OFF. NOW ITS EARLY AUGUST 2013 (44,456 MILEAGE) AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN. THE SAME DEALERSHIP REFUSES TO LOOK AT THE CAR UNLESS WE PAY $137.00 JUST TO LOOK TO SEE IF IT IS THE SAME ISSUE. IT IS THE SAME ISSUE. IF YOU GOOGLE SEARCH THE ISSUE IT POPS UP AS THE FIRST SEARCH BECAUSE THE AIR BAG ISSUE IS SUCH A MAJOR CONCERN AND ISSUE. AIRBAG LIGHTS STARTING FLASHING ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE UNDER WARRANTY. REPAIRS WERE ATTEMPTED, BUT THE AIRBAG LIGHT STILL WOULD FLASH INTERMITTENTLY (BUT OFTEN FOR SHORT PERIODS, SAY ONE OR TWO DAYS). IN JULY, 2011, THE FLASHING OF THE AIRBAG LIGHTS WENT FROM INTERMITTENT TO PERMANENT. DEALER QUOTED A REPAIR ESTIMATE IN EXCESS OF $4,000 AND STATED THE VEHICLE WAS NO LONGER IN WARRANTY. BUT THE FAILURE OF THE AIRBAG COMPONENT(S) HAS BEEN INTERMITTENTLY EVIDENT (THROUGH THE INDICATOR LIGHT) FROM VERY EARLY IN THE LIFE OF THE VEHICLE. WARRANTY REPAIR ATTEMPT WAS UNSUCCESSFUL, AND INTERMITTENT OF WARNING LIGHT MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OBTAIN EFFECTIVE SERVICE. ONE DAY I FOUND THAT THE SEATBELT HAD TORN IN HALF IN THE REAR FOLDING SEAT. I SUSPECT THAT A COUPLE OF WEEKS EARLIER IT HAD GOTTEN CAUGHT IN THE MECHANICS OF THE FOLDING SEAT. THE FOLDING SEAT HAD GOTTEN STUCK FOR SOME REASON AND NEEDED A LOT OF FORCE TO OPEN IT BACK UP. MAYBE IT GOT A SMALL TEAR THEN WHICH GREW. I DON'T KNOW. REGARDLESS, ONE DAY I FOUND IT COMPLETELY TORN IN TWO AND UNUSABLE IN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE. *TR

WE HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA, AND THE SRS AIRBAG LIGHT JUST BEGAN BLINKING. TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID THE ENTIRE WIRING HARNESS NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF A FAULTY WIRE, AND NONE OF THE AIRBAGS WOULD DEPLOY IN THE CASE OF AN ACCIDENT. MY AIR BAG LIGHT BLINKS CONTINUOUSLY. I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS TOPIC ON-LINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT WHEN THIS LIGHT BLINKS, IT MEANS THE AIR BAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY CORRECTLY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THERE ARE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE AIRBAG WIRING HARNESS BEING DEFECTIVE, EITHER UNDER THE PASSENGER SEAT OR DRIVERS SEAT. CURRENTLY THERE ARE NO RECALLS BY TOYOTA TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE RECTIFIED. IT SEEMS THAT WHILE THE 2006 MODEL YEAR SIENNA IS THE PRIMARY VEHICLE WITH THE PROBLEM, THERE ARE ALSO SOME 2005, AND 2007 MODEL YEARS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. THE DEALER WANTS $2000+ TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. THERE ARE STORIES OF BACK ORDERS ON THIS PART BEING UP TO 4 MONTHS. TOYOTA KNOWS THERE IS A PROBLEM, BUT NOW NEEDS TO STEP UP TO THE PLATE AND DO A RECALL TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. I DON'T LIKE DRIVING A FAMILY VEHICLE THAT IS SUPPOSED TO BE SAFE, BUT IS NOT BECAUSE OF THIS FAULT IN THE AIRBAG SYSTEM. VERY FRUSTRATING.

THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS. THE TECHNICIANS ADVISED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE OF THE SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
