AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING MULTIPLE INCIDENTS BEGINNING AT ABOUT 40000. HARNESS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY (ONE INCIDENT AT 14960 MILES CODE B0111). AGAIN AT 41697, DIAGNOSED AS CONNECTOR. AIRBAG & ASSEMBLY REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY (ONE INCIDENT AT 45499 MILES CODE B0111). AT 65000 MILES AIRBAG LIGHT AGAIN FLASHING. DIAGNOSIS, AIRBAG NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AGAIN BUT NOW NOT UNDER WARRANTY. NO ACCIDENTS. MY PERSONAL OPINION IS THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDS TO BE RECALLED OVER THIS ISSUE. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT HAS AN AIRBAG LIGHT THAT COMES ON. THIS VEHICLE HAS 85, 062 MILES AND WHEELER TOYOTA IN GRANTS PASS, OR SAID THAT A TECH BULLETIN # 0162-10 REQUIRES TO REPLACE RIGHT SIDE FOLD FLAT AIR BAG ASSY. AND REPLACE RIGHT SIDE FLOOR WIRE HARNESS ASSY. APPROX. $2238.36 FOR REPAIRS. THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY EXPIRED AT 60,000 MILES. SHOULDN'T THIS BE COVERED UNDER A RECALL? *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WENT OFF. WHEN THE VAN WAS LESS THAN 6,000 MILES OVER MY WARRANTY. THE DEALER SAYS THERE IS A SHORT IN THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE AIRBAG UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THIS DISARMS ALL THE AIRBAGS. I HAVE BEEN WAITING 5 WEEKS FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART. THE REPAIR COSTS $3200.00, BUT THE DEALER DISCOUNTED IT TO $1,900.00. THEY SAY THE WAIT IS BECAUSE THERE IS SUCH A DEMAND FOR THE WIRING HARNESS! MANY DRIVERS ARE DRIVING WITHOUT THEIR AIRBAGS! THIS SEEMS TO ME SHOULD BE A RECALL, AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND AN UNDUE EXPENSE TO OWNERS. *TR
1. THE PASSENGER-SIDE, SLIDING DOOR ON MY '04 XLE, 93,000 MI MINIVAN JUST FAILED 2. DOORS ARE KEY TO SAFETY AND SECURITY! ITS HAPPENING MORE OFTEN AND I'M AFRAID TO CARRY MY CHILD IN THE CAR FOR THE CASE OF EMERGENCY. 3. I COULD NOT AFFORD TO PAY $2200 REPAIR COST OF THE DOOR. IT IS SAME PROBLEM WITH EVERYONE ELSE THAT I HAVE CAME ACROSS WITH! "THE CABLE" AND ITS NOT COVERED BY THE EXTENDED WARRANTY SINCE THEY KNEW IT WAS GOING TO HAPPEN. TOYOTA SIENNA LE 2006 WITH 72,000 MILES AUTOMATIC BROKE DOWN ON THE HIGHWAY --- REFUSING TO GO BEYOND 35MILES AN HOUR AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. THE TOYOTA DEALER CLAIMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION HAD TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF ABOUT 5500 + AND DIAGNOSED ONLY TRANSMISSION PROBLEM. TO GET A SECOND OPINION, WE GOT THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AAMCO, THE TRANSMISSION EXPERTS. AAMCO REPLACED VALVE BODY, TORQUE CONVERTER, AND THEIR STANDARD BANNER KIT + TRANSMISSION COOLING SYSTEM FLUSH AND CLEAN. AAMCO ASKED US TO BE SOFT ON THE TRANSMISSION FOR A TANK OF GAS. INSPITE OF DRIVING SLOWLY, WE NOTICED THAT THE TRANSMISSION CHANGE FROM ABOUT 1ST TO 2ND GEAR WAS VERY SLOW AND THE CAR HAD LIKE A HICCUP WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND EXHIBITED VIBRATION AT HIGHER SPEEDS. WHEN WE TOOK IT BACK TO AAMCO, THEY TEST DROVE THE SAME AND NOW CLAIM THE COMPUTER (ECM?) IS NOT LEARNING THE GEAR SHIFT AND NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. TOYOTA DEALER CLAIMS THAT THE 8YR/80000MILE WARRANTY ON THE COMPUTER IS ONLY FOR A MANUFACTURING DEFECT AND REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE COMPUTER IS MISBEHAVING. THERE IS NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT OR ERROR CODE, BUT THE VEHICLE REMAINS SLUGGISH. WE ARE WAITING FOR THE PRICING OF THE ECM MODULE AND WOULD SINCERELY APPRECIATE IF THE PROBLEM IS ACKNOWLEDGED AND RESOLVED BY TOYOTA. GONE ARE THE DAYS WHEN TOYOTA WAS A RELIABLE CAR --- WE ARE FRUSTRATED WITH THE WHOLE EPISODE AND UNFORTUNATELY ARE NOT CONFIDENT OF WHAT ELSE NEEDS TO GET REPLACED TO GET THE CAR UP AND RUNNING. *TR
THE SRS LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK. I TOOK THE VAN TO THE DEALERSHIP TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO AN OPEN AIR BAG IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT WHICH WOULD COST $2000 TO REPAIR. I HAVE SINCE SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO FIND SEVERAL OTHER COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE SAME PROBLEM. THE YELLOW HARNESS UNDER THE SEAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE PROBLEM. IF THIS WIRE IS WIGGLED, THE LIGHT GOES OFF FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. HOWEVER, IT RETURNS LATER. I FEEL LIKE SRS SAFETY SHOULD BE COVERED FOR THE LIFETIME OF THE VEHICLE UNLESS THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND THEY DEPLOY (AS THEY SHOULD UNLESS THERE IS A FAULTY MECHANISM SUCH AS MINE HAS). TOYOTA SHOULD DO THEIR PART TO KEEP CUSTOMERS SAFE, ESPECIALLY AFTER WE HAVE SPENT THOUSANDS ON A VEHICLE IN HOPES OF HAVING A SAFE VEHICLE TO DRIVE. *TR
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ON FULL TIME OR SOMETIMES WHEN CAR IS STARTED THE AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHES ON AND OFF. *TR
I HAD A FAILURE OF A GOODYEAR INTEGRITY TIRE WITH ONLY 29,000 MILES IT. IT HAD UNEVEN TREAD WEAR AND THE WIRE STRANDS POKING OUT FROM A BROKEN STEEL BELT. THIS TIRE WAS ON THE RIGHT REAR POSITION OF MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA THIS DEFECTIVE TIRE CAUSED MY SIENNA TO WOBBLE VIOLENTLY WITH SPEEDS ABOVE 35MPH. THIS VIOLENT WOBBLE ALSO CAUSED ABNORMAL TREAD WEAR ON THE INSIDE SURFACE OF ALL FOUR TIRES ON THE VEHICLE. THIS TIRE WAS ONE OF TWO GOODYEAR INTEGRITY TIRES I PURCHASED FROM FOX RIVER TIRE AND SUPPLY ON 5/10/08, WHEN THE VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS 21,059 MILES. THESE TWO TIRES WERE ON THE FRONT AXLE UNTIL I PURCHASED TWO MORE GOODYEAR INTEGRITY TIRES AT ABE AND DOC? S SERVICE, INC. ON 7/16/09 AT A MILEAGE OF 35,247. AT THIS TIME THE SUBJECT TIRE WAS MOVED TO RIGHT REAR POSITION. WHEN THE MILEAGE ON THE 2006 SIENNA REACHED 50,793 THE VEHICLE STARTED WOBBLING VIOLENTLY OVER 35 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ABE AND DOC? S SERVICE, INC. TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. I WAS TOLD THAT IMPROPER WHEEL ALIGNMENT HAD CAUSED ALL THE TIRES TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE SURFACE AND THAT WIRE STRANDS WERE EXPOSED ON THE RIGHT REAR TIRE. I ASKED IF THE TIRE HAD A ?PRO-RATED ? WARRANTY AND WAS TOLD, NO! IT WAS SUGGESTED I PURCHASE TWO NEW GOODYEAR INTEGRITY TIRES AT $165.00 EACH AND A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. INSTEAD I TOOK THE SIENNA TO ST. CHARLES TOYOTA FOR SERVICE, WHERE I PURCHASED TWO MICHELIN TIRES AND A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE TOYOTA TECHNICIAN STATED THE ALIGNMENT WAS GOOD (RECEIPT AND COMPUTER ALIGNMENT REPORT ATTACHED). THE TOYOTA DEALER ADVISED US TO REPORT THIS DEFECT TO GOODYEAR. *TR
OUR AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR IS NOT WORKING AT 55,000 MILES. THE TOYOTA COMPANY REFUSES TO PAY TO FIX THE SLIDING DOOR. I AM SURPRISE WITH TOYOTA'S REPUTATION THAT THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR HAS STOP WORKING. I AM VERY CONCERNED ABOUT THE AUTOMATIC DOOR NOT WORKING. RIGHT NOW THE DOOR IS ON MANUAL. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO OPEN AND CLOSE FOR MY FAMILY. MY SPOUSE AND MY HANDS HURT WHEN WE PULL TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE SLIDING DOOR. OUR THREE KIDS ARE UNABLE TO OPEN AND CLOSE THE DOOR ON THEIR OWN. I HAVE A TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 69,451 MILES. I HAVE HAD BOTH REAR SLIDING DOORS REPAIRED TWICE EACH. THE DOORS STILL DO NOT ENGAGE AND LOCK. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND MULTIPLE TIMES THE DOORS HAVE OPENED WHILE DRIVING. TOYOTA RECENTLY HAS A RECALL ON THIS ISSUE, BUT IT ONLY DATES BACK TO 2011. THIS IS AN ISSUE FOR MANY EARLIER MODELS AND I AM FURIOUS IT WAS NOT INCLUDED. TOYOTA SAYS THERE IS NOTHING ELSE THEY CAN DO FOR ME. WHEN ONE OF MY CHILDREN FALLS OUT THE BACK AND GETS INJURED IS NOT THE TIME TO ADDRESS IT. I DEMAND THAT THE 2006 MODEL BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR SAFETY ISSUES, NOT JUST FOR ME AND MY CHILDREN, BUT FOR MANY, MANY OTHERS WHO HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE. IN THE LAST YEAR, WHEN MY CAR HAS BEEN OUT IN THE SUN, THE REAR HATCH WILL NOT CLOSE USING THE POWER BUTTONS ON THE KEY FOB OR ON THE FRONT CONSOLE. THE HATCH WILL CLOSE ABOUT 10 DEGREES AND THEN GO BACK UP. MY NEIGHBOR HAS A 2007 TOYOTA SIENNA AND HERS DOES THE EXACT SAME THING. I BROUGHT MY VAN TO THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP WHEN THE REAR HATCH RECALL HAPPENED, BUT THAT REPLACEMENT DID NOT DO ANYTHING FOR MY CAR. I TOOK IT BACK RECENTLY AND HAD NEW SENSORS PUT IT, BUT AGAIN, NO IMPROVEMENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE SLIDING DOORS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE ACTUATOR MOTOR HAD A SHORTAGE AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND WOULD OFFER NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,814.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA AND MY CAR JUST REACHED 66,000KM WHEN THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR STARTED TO MALFUNCTION. IT DOESN'T CLICK SHUT ALL THE TIME. SOMETIMES IT WOULD TAKE UP TO 20 MINUTES OPENING AND CLOSING THE DOOR TO CLICK SHUT. ON 2 OCCASIONS, THE DOOR SWUNG OPEN ITSELF WHILE I WAS DRIVING WITH MY 2 SMALL CHILDREN. LUCKILY I GRABBED ONE OF MY CHILD'S BACKPACKS AS IT WAS HEADING FOR THE ROAD - IT COULD HAVE BEEN ONE OF MY CHILDREN THAT WAS THROWN OUT OF MY CAR. *TR

THE DEALER STATED THAT THE ENTIRE AIR BAG SYSTEM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. MANUFACTURERS REPORT 1008162109 WAS FILED. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO PAY SOME OF THE REPAIR COST. THE CONTACT FEELS THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD PAY THE ENTIRE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WASN'T REPAIRED. THE VIN INFORMATION WASN'T AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,010 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
THE DASHBOARD BEGIN TO MELT, CRACK. *TR
THE REAR LIFT GATE GAS SUPPORT STRUTS, THAT HAVE BEEN PREVIOUSLY RECALLED FOR REAR POWER LIFT GATES, ARE FAILING NOW ON NON-POWERED REAR LIFT GATES ON TOYOTA SIENNAS. THE REAR LIFT GATE ON THE TOYOTA SIENNA STARTED TO FAIL TO STAY IN THE UP/OPEN POSITION ABOUT 3 MONTHS AGO. NOW THE GAS SUPPORT STRUTS HAVE COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE REAR LIFT GATE WILL NOT STAY OPEN LEADING TO POTENTIAL INJURY TO ANYONE UNDERNEATH THE LIFT GATE ON THE TOYOTA SIENNA. THE FAILURE OCCURS NOW ALL OF THE TIME AND THE GATE ON THE TOYOTA SIENNA WILL NOT STAY OPEN. THE SAME LIFT GATE SUPPORT WAS ALREADY RECALLED FOR VEHICLES THAT HAVE POWER LIFT GATES, BUT IT IS NOW HAPPENING ON MANUAL LIFT GATES. THE SIENNA WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER WHO REFUSED TO REPAIR THE SUPPORT STRUT. TOYOTA PREVIOUSLY CONDUCTED A SPECIAL SERVICE CAMPAIGN (RECALL) 80C FOR POWERED REAR LIFT GATES IN 2008. THE PART NUMBER FOR THE PREVIOUS RECALL IS THE SAME PART FAILURE WITH NON-POWERED REAR LIFT GATES. *TR
I WAS ATTEMPTING TO PARK MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WHEN SUDDENLY THE ENGINE STARTED TO REV LOUDLY & THE CAR CONTINUED TO MOVE FORWARD, EVEN AS I FRANTICALLY APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE CAR WOULD NOT STOP BUT MY FAST-THINKING HUSBAND QUICKLY PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL & THEN SHUT THE CAR OFF. WE DROVE TO OUR TOYOTA DEALER IN VINELAND, NJ, WHERE THEY PERFORMED DIAGNOSTIC TESTS BUT COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEIR DETERMINATION WAS THAT IT MUST HAVE BEEN THE FLOOR MAT PRESSING ON THE ACCELERATOR. I AM SURE THAT THE MAT WAS NOT THE PROBLEM AND THAT TOYOTA IS ATTEMPTING TO COVER UP A PROBLEM WITH A CAR THAT IS NOT ALREADY ON THEIR RECALL LIST. *TR
BACK HATCH ON TOYOTA SIENNA XLE (2006) WILL NOT CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY (VIA BUTTONS OR FOB) IN WARM WEATHER (I.E. OVER APPROX. 83 DEGREES). MUST BE CLOSED MANUALLY. ONLY HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE HAS BEEN SITTING IN SUN. HAVE HEARD SAME COMPLAINT FROM NUMEROUS OTHER OWNERS OF SAME MAKE AND MODEL AND LATER MODELS. STARTED OCCURRING SHORTLY AFTER NEW STRUTS WERE INSTALLED TO ADDRESS RECALL FOR HATCHBACK UNEXPECTEDLY FALLING DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. SEVERAL ENGINEERS HAVE SUGGESTED THE NEW STRUTS ARE TOO STRONG FOR EXISTING HATCHBACK MOTOR (STRONGER STRUT MECHANISM USED TO PREVENT HATCHBACK FROM FALLING). RECOMMEND NEW MOTOR TO MATCH STRENGTH OF RECALL REPLACEMENT STRUTS. *TR
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA WITH 73,000 MILES. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM KOONS TOYOTA IN WESTMINSTER, MD. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT HAS BEEN CHECKED AND RESET TWICE WITHIN THE PAST TWO MONTHS BECAUSE IT KEEPS FLASHING. TOYOTA RECOMMENDS THAT I REPLACE BOTH AIRBAGS AND THE WIRING HARNESS TO ENSURE THE PROBLEM DOES NOT PERSIST. TOTAL COST = $2,800. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM FOR ME AND MY FAMILY AND I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. OTHERS SEEM TO BE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR

DRIVER UPON SHIFTING FROM NEUTRAL INTO DRIVE, CAR ACCELERATED AT TOP SPEED, EVENTUALLY COLLIDING WITH AN EARTHEN EMBANKMENT 80 YARDS BEYOND THE EXIT FROM A CAR WASH STRUCTURE. ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS NOT PRESSED AT ANYTIME. BRAKES WERE INEFFECTIVE. NO FLOOR MATS., EXPERIENCED ADULT MALE DRIVER WITH NO HISTORY OF ACCIDENTS. NO PASSENGERS. CAR WAS TOTALED FROM COLLISION. NO INJURIES, DRIVER AVOIDED HITTING A NUMBER OF PARKED CARS, BY STEERING AROUND THEM. ACCIDENT OCCURRED AT 10 AM AS DRIVER EMERGED FROM A CAR WASH STRUCTURE. DRIVER NOT TICKETED. CAR WAS INSPECTED BY TOYOTA AND DEEMED IN PERFECT MECHANICAL CONDITION AND THAT TOYOTA WAS NOT RESPONSIBLE. DRIVER'S INSURANCE COMPANY PROVIDED COVERAGE. *TR

2006 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN. BOTH SIDE SLIDING DOORS FAIL TO CLOSE PROPERLY. UNABLE TO MANUALLY CLOSE. DOOR WILL SLIDE OPEN. REPAIRED DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR IN 2008. NOW IN JULY 2010, PASSENGER SIDE SLIDING DOOR DID NOT CLOSE BUT HAD BEEN REPAIRED BUT NOW AGAIN IN DECEMBER 2010 DOOR CONTINUES TO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. *TR
THE CABLE ON MY SLIDING DOOR OF MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA SNAPPED WHEN I PUSHED THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE AUTOMATIC DOOR. THIS RESULTED IN A SHARP PIECE OF CABLE STICKING OUT TOWARDS MY CHILD WHO WAS SITTING IN HIS CAR SEAT. I'VE TAKEN THE CAR TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY EVEN THOUGH I HAVE AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA EQUIPPED WITH DUNLOP SP4000 TIRES, SIZE P225/60/R17. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER WAS TRAVELING 55 MPH WHEN THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE BLEW. THE TIRES WERE RUN-FLAT TIRES AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN DIRECTLY TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE TIRE APPROXIMATELY ONE AND A HALF YEARS LATER. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS COMMON FOR THE MODEL VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
WE PURCHASED THE VAN USED IN 2009 WITH 12000 MILES ON IT AND MADE OUR PURCHASE DECISION BASED ON THE REPUTATION FOR QUALITY AND SAFETY THAT TOYOTA HAD AT THE TIME. IN JULY 2009 THE SRS WARNING LIGHT BEGAN TO ILLUMINATE. ACCORDING TO THE DEALER THE AIR BAG WIRING HARNESS AND SYSTEM WAS KNOWN TO HAVE ISSUES. LUCKILY THE DEALER CONVINCED TOYOTA USA TO COVER THE REPAIR. IN NOVEMBER 2011 THE LIGHT AGAIN CAME ON AND DID ITS BLINKING THING. CURRENTLY WE HAVE A LITTLE OVER 48000 MILES ON THE VAN AND THE DEALER SAID THAT BECAUSE WE ARE PAST WARRANTY THAT IT WON'T BE COVERED. A PRIVATE MECHANIC TESTED THE SYSTEM AND DETERMINED THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING AND THAT TOYOTA HAS PUBLISHED A BULLETIN ACKNOWLEDGING THE ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY CONCERN. WHEN THE LIGHT IS BLINKING OR ON, THE AIRBAGS WILL NOT DEPLOY, PUTTING EVERYONE INSIDE AT RISK. A VAN WITH 48000 MILES SHOULD NOT HAVE TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS REPLACED TWICE. LOOKING AT ONLINE FORUMS THERE SEEMS TO BE HUNDREDS IF NOT THOUSANDS OF OTHER SIENNA OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME PROBLEMS AND YET TOYOTA STILL REFUSES TO RECALL THE PRODUCT OR OFFER A REASONABLE REPAIR. I AM AFRAID THAT IT WILL TAKE A TRAFFIC COLLISION RESULTING IN A DEATH OR MULTIPLE DEATHS TO PUSH TOYOTA TO FIX THIS SYSTEMIC PROBLEM. A SECOND CONCERN WHICH SEEMS TO BE PROBLEMATIC WITH OUR VAN AS WELL AS OTHERS IS THE WELDS WITHIN THE DRIVER DOOR BREAKING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT NOR ANY OTHER MAJOR INCIDENT TO CAUSE THEM TO BREAK. WHILE ON A FAMILY TRIP, THE TIRE EXPLODED ON THE INTERIOR SIDE IN TRAFFIC. TAKING THE VEHICLE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR NEW TIRES AND INSPECTION RIGHT AFTER THE INCIDENT, THEY RETURNED MY CAR WITH THE NEW REAR TIRE STATING IT IS IN NEED OF A PROPER REAR ALIGNMENT. UPON RESEARCH AND TAKING MY VEHICLE TO NUMEROUS LOCAL TIRE SHOP/GARAGE FOR OPINION, THEY TOLD ME THAT THE REAR WHEELS CANNOT BE ADJUSTED OR ALIGNED DUE TO THE WAY IT WAS BUILT. HOWEVER, TOYOTA INSISTED THAT THE REAR WHEELS CAN BE ALIGNED, SO WE DID ALLOW THEM TO DO A 4-WHEEL ALIGNMENT. AFTER RECEIVING MY VEHICLE BACK,IT CAN BE RECOGNIZE THAT THE REAR TIRES ARE DEFINITELY NOT "STRAIGHT" AT ALL, BY OBSERVATION THE BOTTOM OF THE WHEEL IS LEANING TOWARD THE CAR. MY CONCERN REGARDING THIS ISSUE IS THAT MANY PEOPLE WITH 4-WHEELS DRIVE SIENNA HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. TOPIC: TOYOTA ACCELERATION PROBLEM: ON JULY 4TH AT 10:00 AM, AS MY 2006 SIENNA TOYOTA WAS EMERGING FROM THE DRYER-END OF WELL KNOWN CARWASH, THE SIGNAL AT THE TERMINAL POINT INDICATED THAT I WAS TO MOVE MY CAR OUT OF THE STRUCTURE. IT WILL BE IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO ALLOW MY FAMILY OR ANYONE FOR THAT MATTER TO DRIVE THAT CAR IN THE FUTURE, THE CAR IS WORTH MORE TO US THAN TO OTHERS. I WAS DRIVING ON A STRAIGHT, LEVEL DRY ROAD WITH CRUISE CONTROL SET AT 58MPH. SUDDENLY CAR BEGAN TO DOWNSHIFT. ASSUMING TRANSMISSION PROBLEM I DISENGAGED CRUISE CONTROL AND CAR ALMOST CAME TO A STOP. I PUSHED GAS PEDAL AND DROVE IN LOW GEAR TO NEAREST PULL-OFF. DISCOVERED LEFT FRONT BRAKE WAS SMOKING. AFTER THINGS COOLED OFF I DROVE CAR IN LOW GEAR ABOUT 6 MILES TO LOCAL SERVICE STATION. MECHANIC FOUND ALL BRAKES LOCKED AND REMOVED ALL WHEELS. HE INSPECTED ALL ROTORS, CALIPERS BRAKE LINES, ETC AND FOUND NO PROBLEMS. (I HAD NEW BRAKES INSTALLED AT DEALERSHIP ABOUT 4 MONTHS EARLIER.) WHEN MECHANIC MANIPULATED LEFT FRONT CALIPER ALL BRAKES DISENGAGED. MECHANIC FOUND BRAKE FLUID LEVEL WAS NORMAL. I'VE DRIVEN CAR ABOUT 500 MILES SINCE PROBLEM OCCURRED WITH NO PROBLEMS. I DON'T USE CRUISE CONTROL OFTEN - AND HAVEN'T USED IT SINCE PROBLEM OCCURRED. I'M WONDERING IF PROBLEM IS WITH CRUISE CONTROL RATHER THAN BRAKES?? WE HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA THAT WE HAVE HAD FOR 3 YEARS. YESTERDAY THE PASSENGER SIDE AUTOMATIC DOOR JAMMED. I HAD TO MANUALLY CLOSE IT AS FAR AS I COULD. I HAD TO DRIVE AROUND WITH IT PARTIALLY OPEN. WHEN I GOT HOME I GOT DOWN UNDER IT AND NOTICED THAT A PIECE OF PLASTIC CASING THAT SURROUNDS THE CABLE(THAT SHUTS THE DOOR) WAS CRACKED OPEN, IT HAD SPLIT OFF OF THE CABLE AND WAS WRAPPING ALL AROUND THE WHEELS THAT SLIDE IN THE CHANNEL THAT SHUTS THE DOOR. THERE WAS ALSO A LARGER PIECE OF PLASTIC THAT HAD BROKEN OFF SOMEWHERE UP INSIDE THE DOOR. NOW THE AUTOMATIC DOOR WON'T WORK AT ALL, NOR WILL IT OPEN OR SHUT MANUALLY WITHOUT A LOT OF FORCE. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS NOT A RECALL ON THIS WHICH IS SURPRISING US BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER INFORMED ME THAT IT WOULD COST $1200-1500 TO FIX THE PROBLEM BECAUSE THE CABLE IS COMBINED WITH THE MOTOR. OBVIOUSLY THE DESIGN IS INFERIOR AND THEY HAVE USED CHEAP PLASTIC PARTS IN THE MANUFACTURING. I ALSO THINK TOYOTA IS PRICE GOUGING BECAUSE THEIR DESIGN IS COMBINED INTO A "ONE UNIT" PRICE TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. NOW WE ARE GOING TO BE FORCED TO CUT THE CABLE THAT RUNS THE AUTOMATIC DOOR, JUST TO BE ABLE TO OPERATE THE DOOR MANUALLY. WHO CAN AFFORD TO PUT OUT THAT KIND OF MONEY FOR A DOOR MOTOR? MY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 68,000 MILES ON IT. PLEASE HELP US. HELP THE LITTLE GUY. TOYOTA HAS ALREADY GIVEN OUT EXTENDED WARRANTY/RECALLS ON THIS VEHICLE FOR THE TWO FRONT DOORS - POPPING. AND THE REAR HATCH STRUTS. I THINK THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE ADDED TO THIS LIST. TOYOTA NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS POOR WORKMANSHIP. THANK YOU FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION. *TR
