POWER REAR DOOR ON 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE WILL NOT STAY OPEN. DOOR AUTOMATICALLY CLOSES AND DOES NOT AUTO-REVERSE EASILY WITH OBSTRUCTION. *JB
WAS OUT SHOPPING, WENT TO OPEN THE REAR DOOR WHEN I REALIZED THE STRUTS WERE NOT LIFTING THE DOOR. I INSPECTED THE STRUTS ,AND REALIZED THEY HAD EXPLODED AND WERE LEAKING. NO FAILURES OF THE REAR DOOR PREVIOUSLY; DOOR WAS WORKING PROPERLY THE DAY BEFORE THIS INCIDENT. HAVE AN APPOINTMENT WITH TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. CANNOT USE THE BACK PORTION OF THE MINIVAN TO STORE ITEMS SINCE DOOR WAS NOT FUNCTIONAL. I AM GLAD THE DOOR DID NOT FAIL WHEN IT WAS OPENED AND SOMEONE WAS UNDERNEATH, ESPECIALLY ONE OF OUR KIDS. I HAVE READ ON THE INTERNET THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED WITH OTHER TOYOTA SIENNAS.*AK
THE DUNLOP RUN FLAT TIRES ON THE 2006 SIENNA MINI-VAN ARE HORRIBLE. AT 10,000 MILES THEY WERE WEARING VERY FAST. THEY ARE LOUD ON THE ROAD, AND RIDE VERY ROUGH WITH VIBRATION THAT CAN BE FELT IN THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE GAS PEDAL. THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP SAID THE VIN DIDN'T QUALIFY FOR REPLACEMENT TIRES.*AK
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA TWO POTENTIAL SAFETY FAILURES: (1) THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR WHEN OPENING WILL SLIDE INTO THE GAS FUEL DOOR WHILE ANOTHER PERSON IS FUELING THE VEHICLE. THERE IS NO STOP THAT PREVENTS THE DOOR FROM STRIKING THE GAS DOOR WHEN A PERSON IS EXITING THE VEHICLE. WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THE FUELING NOZZLE WAS JARRED LOOSE AND FUEL WAS SPLASHED ON THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE FUEL MESSAGE STAYED ON FOLLOWING THIS EVENT ON THE DASHBOARD. (2) DRIVER'S SIDE AND PASSENGER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR POWER LOCKS BOTH FAILED(DRIVER'S SIDE AT 37,000MILES & THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AT 58,000 MILES.) THIS MAY OR MAY NOT BECOME A SAFETY FAILURE; HOWEVER, IF THE DOORS ARE NOT LOCKED MANUALLY, THE LACK OF LOCKED DOORS COULD PROVE TO BE DANGEROUS WHEN THE CAR IS MOVING. *TR
TOYOTA IS AWARE OF A MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN ITS DOORS WHERE BAD WELDING WAS PERFORMED AT TIME OF MANUFACTURING. THIS EFFECTS MOST '04 - '08 MODELS. TOYOTA REFUSES TO ISSUE A RECALL AND ATTEMPTS TO MAKE CUSTOMERS PAY FOR THE REPAIR. COST CAN RUN UP TO $2,000.00. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATED AND THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DOES NOT KNOW WHAT THEY REPAIRED. THE DEALER HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 16,000.
MY VEHICLE IS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA, THE VEHICLE IS BADLY ALIGN. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL VIBRATES AND THE VEHICLE VEERS TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER HAD MADE SEVERAL EFFORTS TO FIX THE PROBLEM,(REPLACED AND BALANCED 2 FRONT TIRES, ALIGNED ALL 4 TIRES) BUT IT STILL PERSISTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 500 AND CURRENT MILEAGE IS 16,700. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVAN. WHILE TRYING TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR SQUEAKED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OIL THE DOORS AND THEY CONTINUED TO SQUEAK. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 24000. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW DOOR DUE THE SEPARATION IN THE DOOR WELDING. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT IT WOULD TAKE ONE WEEK TO INSTALL THE DOOR. ALSO, THE CONTACT WAS UPSET THAT AFTER PAINTING THE DOOR IT WILL NOT MATCH. IN NOVEMBER 2006 I PURCHASED A LOWERED FLOOR TOYOTA SIENNA WITH AUTOMATIC WHEELCHAIR RAMP. THE PURCHASE WAS MADE THROUGH MC MOBILITY IN MENTOR OHIO, MODIFICATIONS DONE BY BRAUN CORP IN INDIANA. FIRST THE GAS TANK HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED WHICH CAUSED MALFUNCTIONS IN THE EMISSIONS SYSTEM AND ASSOCIATED ELECTRONIC SYSTEMS. THIS TOOK SEVERAL MONTHS TO DIAGNOSE AND FIX. THEN AN AC TUBE RUNNING FROM FRONT TO BACK HAD NOT BEEN STRAPPED IN PROPERLY, CAUSING IT TO WEAR THROUGH. THIS TOOK ABOUT TWO MONTHS TO RESOLVE. THE MOST PERSISTENT PROBLEM IS WITH THE RAMP. SINCE THE SPRING OF 2007 IT HAS INTERMITTENTLY MALFUNCTIONED. THE RAMP WILL DEPLOY AS DESIGNED, BUT THEN SOMETIMES THE RAMP WILL NOT STOW BACK IN THE VEHICLE. OBVIOUSLY THE VAN CANNOT BE OPERATED WITH THE RAMP EXTENDED. ASSISTANCE IS NEEDED TO MANUALLY WORK AGAINST THE AUTOMATIC SYSTEM TO STOW THE RAMP, AND ASSISTANCE IS NOT ALWAYS AROUND. THE MALFUNCTION MAY HAPPEN JUST ONCE AND BE FINE FOR WEEKS ON EITHER SIDE, OR IT MIGHT HAPPEN CONTINUALLY FOR WEEKS WITH OBVIOUS IMPEDIMENT TO EMPLOYMENT AND OTHER LIFE ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS SERIOUS POTENTIAL FOR INJURY AS A LONE DISABLED DRIVER HAS TO TRY TO COPE WITH THE PROBLEM. UNDER VEHICLE WARRANTY MC HAS DONE NUMEROUS REPAIR ATTEMPTS BUT NOTHING SO FAR HAS WORKED PERMANENTLY. THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM.*TR
DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT SEAT BELT BECOMES FOLDED AND ENTRAPPED IN THE SLOT WHERE IT COMES OUT OF SIDE COLUMN AND WILL NOT RETRACT, MAKING IT ABSOLUTELY USELESS FOR ITS INTENDED PURPOSE. THIS RESULT IN DRIVER NOT BEING RESTRAINED PROPERLY. HAVE TAKEN IT BACK TO DEALER AT LEAST 3 TIMES TO HAVE THEM RELEASE THE ENTRAPMENT AS WELL AS FIXING IT MYSELF NUMEROUS TIMES. MY WIFE CANNOT DO THE REPAIR HERSELF SO SHE IS OFTEN DRIVING AROUND BASICALLY WITH NO SEAT BELT UNTIL SHE GET TO THE DEALER OR HOME FOR IT TO BE REPAIRED. *TR
PROBLEM IS WITH THE REAR SEAT BELTS IN MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LE VAN. ANYTIME SOMEONE (MYSELF INCLUDED) RIDES IN THE BACK ROW, THE SEAT BELTS LOCK UP AND BECOME SO UNCOMFORTABLE THAT THEY MUST BE RELEASED TO AVOID EXTREME DISCOMFORT, THIS RESULTS IN THE SEAT BELT BEING UNFASTENED DURING VEHICLE MOVEMENT AND OFTEN I FIND MY PASSENGERS JUST NOT USING THEM DUE TO THIS SELF-TIGHTENING. *TR
THERE APPEARS TO BE A RECALL FOR THE SPARE TIME MOUNTING FOR THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE WAITED MONTHS AND MONTHS FOR REPLACEMENT PARTS. THE DEALER HAS NO ESTIMATE FOR WHEN THE PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE. IN THE INTERIM, I MUST EITHER RIDE WITHOUT A SPARE OR THE SPARE IS LOOSE IN THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. DATE OF INCIDENT (ON YOUR FORM) IS APPROXIMATE.
SIENNA UNCONTROLLED ACCELERATION!! IT HAPPENED TO OUR 2006 SIENNA YESTERDAY 2/21/2007 - -MY WIFE WAS ABOUT TO STOP THE CAR WHILE PARKING IT AT A PARKING SPACE, SUDDENLY IT ACCELERATED (VERY FAST!) AND KNOCKED DOWN A TREE AND SCRATCHED A COUPLE OF PARKED CARS. IT TOOK A TREE, SOME BUSHES AND A DOUBLE RAISED CURBS TO STOP THE VAN. THE BUMPER WAS DAMAGED (BY THE TREE) AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF VAN DENTED. MY WIFE IS A CAREFUL DRIVER (AND WITH OUR TWO TODDLERS INSIDE!) AND SHE IS VERY SURE SHE DID NOTHING WRONG. I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA MINI VAN AWD WHICH BUILDS UP MUD AND SNOW ON THE INSIDE OF THE WHEELS. WHEN THE SNOW AND MUD BEGIN TO FALL OFF, THE CAR BEGINS TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. WHEN THIS OCCURS YOU ARE ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY UP TO APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH. AT 45 - 55 MPH THE VEHICLE SHAKES SO VIOLENTLY THAT IF I HIT A PATCH OF ICE OR WATER I WOULD LOSE CONTROL AND CREATE AN ACCIDENT. *JB
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA PURCHASED MAY 2006. 3-4 MONTHS AGO, THE BACK LIFT STARTED MALFUNCTIONING. AUTOMATICALLY OPENS BUT CLOSES WITHOUT PROVOCATION SOMETIMES HITTING PERSON LOADING THE TRUNK. LAUREL TOYOTA MD REPAIR DID NOT FIND PROBLEM WITH THE LIFT, BUT PROBLEM PERSISTS AND HAPPENED TODAY 2/9/2007. *NM
SLIDING SUNROOF HAS MECHANICAL ISSUE WHEN DRIVING. AT HIGHER SPEEDS OVER 45 MPH THE MECHANISM WHICH GOES DOWN WHEN SUNROOF IS CLOSING WILL GO DOWN. WHEN THE VEHICLE SLOWS DOWN THE MECHANISM RAISES. THE VEHICLE'S SUNROOF HAS BEEN LOOKED AT TWICE BY THE DEALER AND THEY STATE THERE IS NO SOLUTION FOR IT AND THAT THEY TEST DROVE ANOTHER 2006 XLE LIMITED AND ITS SUNROOF DID THE SAME THING. *NM
TIRE FAILURE. *TR
BRAKES: SINCE I BOUGHT MY CAR IN MARCH OF 2006 NOT EVEN A YEAR OLD YET, I HAVE HAD TO TAKE MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA IN EVERY 7-8 THOUSAND MILES BECAUSE THE BRAKES HAVE WORN DOWN. THE FIRST TIME IT WENT IN AT 9900 MILES AND THEY REPLACED MY BRAKES AND PUT NEW ROTORS ON. THE SECOND TIME THEY PUT NEW BRAKES ON AND MACHINED MY ROTORS THIS WAS DONE AT 18,100 MILES AND NOW ITS AT 27,100 MILES AND MY BRAKES ARE SHOT AGAIN AND THE DEALER KNOWING THAT THIS IS MY THIRD TIME IN FOR SAME PROBLEM TOLD ME NOW ALL OF A SUDDEN THAT ITS MY FAULT AND THE WAY I DRIVE THE VAN, AND THEY WANTED ME TO PAY THIS TIME FOR THE REPAIRS. THEY MADE THEIR DIAGNOSIS ONLY BY TAKING OFF THE TIRES, THEY NEVER TOOK OFF THE FRONT BRAKES TO INSPECT THEM AND YET THEY HAD NERVE TO NOTATE THAT ALL PADS WERE WEARING EVENLY, . SO I DROVE HOME AND A LICENSED TECH CHANGED MY BRAKES FOR LESSER PRICE AND THIS TECH NOTED THAT ALL PADS ON FRONT WORE UNEVENLY AND THAT MY ROTORS WERE FINE WHERE AS THE DEALER WANTED ME TO BUY NEW ROTORS BECAUSE THEY SAID THEY WERE RUINED. THE TECH THAT FIXED MY CAR KEPT THE SAME ROTORS AND JUST PUT NEW BRAKES ON FOR HALF THE COST THE DEALER WANTED ME TO PAY. YET THIS DEALER IN HEMET CALIFORNIA AT GOSCH AUTO GROUP WOULD NOT REPLACE MY BRAKES THE ONES THEY PUT ON LAST TIME 7 THOUSAND MILES BEFORE THIS TIME UNLESS I PAID FOR THEM. THERE IS OBVIOUSLY SOMETHING WRONG WITH THE BRAKE LINE SYSTEM WHICH IS CAUSING THEM TO GO OUT EVERY 7-8 THOUSAND MILES. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND ME AND MY 4 KIDS COULD GET SERIOUSLY INJURED SHOULD THIS BRAKE PROBLEM CONTINUE MAYBE I MIGHT NOT BE SO LUCKY AND MY BRAKES WILL FAIL. THESE BRAKES SUCK AND SO DOES THIS CAR AS MY HUSBAND SAID I SHOULD HAVE GONE WITH A CHEVY. *JB
RE: SAFETY PROBLEM WITH 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE, OUR SIENNA IS NOT SAFE. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS THE WHEELS WERE SPINNING WHEN WE TRIED TO DRIVE AFTER STOPPING AT THE STOP SIGN, AT TRAFFIC LIGHTS, OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE INTERSECTION. IT IS A VERY DANGEROUS MALFUNCTION, BECAUSE IT PREVENTS THE DRIVER FROM MERGING INTO OR ESCAPING FROM HEAVY TRAFFIC OF NORTHERN VIRGINIA. IT HAPPENED IN ALL KINDS OF WEATHER AND ROAD SURFACE CONDITIONS. I AM A VERY CAREFUL DRIVER; I SPEND A LOT OF TIME DRIVING MY THREE YOUNG CHILDREN. I NEVER HAD AN ACCIDENT AND I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE SPINNING TIRES ON ANY OTHER CAR I HAVE DRIVEN. WE CONTACTED OUR DEALERSHIP AND TOYOTA COMPANY. THEIR FIRST RESPONSE WAS THAT IT IS NOT THEIR PROBLEM. AFTER OUR INTERVENTION THE DEALERSHIP AGREED TO DRIVE TEST OUR CAR. THE TEST WAS PERFORMED BY ONE OF THE EMPLOYEES (NOT CLEAR IF HE HAD ANY CAR SAFETY INSPECTION TRAINING). HE TOOK OUR CAR FOR A SHORT DRIVE AROUND THE NEIGHBORHOOD, ALONE, IN THE PERFECT WEATHER, REPORTING BACK THAT HE DID NOT NOTICE ANY PROBLEM. THE TEST DRIVE WAS A COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME. WE HAVE PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR USUALLY WHEN THERE IS MORE THAN ONE PERSON IN THE CAR, DURING THE RAIN ETC; IN OTHER WORDS, IN AVERAGE DRIVING CONDITIONS. SINCE THE TEST WE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AGAIN, MANY TIMES. I BELIEVE WE ARE NOT THE ONLY OWNERS OF SIENNA, WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I OBSERVED IT SEVERAL TIMES ON THE STREET, WITH OTHER SIENNAS. ALSO, MY INFORMAL POLL AMONG OUR FRIENDS GAVE THE SAME RESULTS. *TR
I BOUGHT A NEW 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA VAN. FROM THE BEGINNING, THE TRANSMISSION DROPS INTO NEUTRAL AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS FOR STOPS. UPON ACCELERATION TO MOVE THROUGH A STOP SIGN OR LIGHT, THE TRANSMISSION HESITATES IN NEUTRAL, LEAVING THOSE FOLLOWING ABOUT TO REAR END THE VEHICLE. OR, IF YOU ACCELERATE, THE VEHICLE LURCHES INTO GEAR THROWING PASSENGERS FORWARD. I HAVE MENTIONED THIS PROBLEM EVERY TIME I HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE SERVICED. THE SERVICEMAN ACKNOWLEDGES THE PROBLEM, AND STATES THAT TOYOTA CLAIMS IT IS A MEANS TO SAVE THE TRANSMISSION. THE JERKING ON THE TRANSMISSION AS THE VEHICLE GOES INTO GEAR AFTER A STOP CANNOT BE GOOD FOR THE VEHICLE. THE SERVICEMAN FURTHER STATED THAT OTHER CAR MODELS MADE BY TOYOTA HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME PROBLEM, BUT THAT A "COMPUTER PATCH" HAD BEEN MADE AVAILABLE THAT SOLVED THE PROBLEM. HE SAID THAT NO SUCH PATCH HAS BEEN MADE AVAILABLE FOR THE SIENNA VANS. MY CONCERN IS THAT I WILL END UP REAR-ENDED BECAUSE OF THE HESITATION OR THAT THE TRANSMISSION WILL FAIL. *TR
WITHIN 1 YEAR OF PURCHASING VEHICLE NEW THE WHEELS STARTED TO SHOW SIGNS CORROSION IN THE FORM OF BUBBLING OF THE FINISH. WE CONTACTED OUR LOCAL DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WAS DUE TO ROAD SALT AND ME NOT CLEANING THEM PROPERLY AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO REPLACE THEM. WE TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER SHORTLY BEFORE THE WARRANTY RAN OUT AND AGAIN WERE TOLD THAT IT WAS OUR FAULT AND WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER ONE LAST TIME AFTER THE WARRANTY AND WERE TOLD SINCE THE WARRANTY WAS UP THEY COULD DO NOTHING FOR US. ALL 4 WHEELS ARE NOW CORRODED SEVERELY. LARGE CHUNKS OF PAINT ROUTINELY FALL OFF DURING WASHING. I'M WORRIED ABOUT SAFETY AT THIS POINT AND PLAN TO REPLACE THE RIMS AT MY OWN EXPENSE. I'VE OWNED MULTIPLE CARS WITH SIMILARLY COATED ALLOY RIMS AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS ISSUE BEFORE. IT WASN'T DUE TO ME CLEANING THEM PROPERLY, IT'S A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. *TR
THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA CAUSES THE ENGINE TO RACE WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT TO A LOWER GEAR AT SLOW SPEEDS. *TR
THERE IS NO WAY TO PROPER ADJUST HEADREST HEIGHT FOR TALLER PEOPLE (AVERAGE MALE AND ABOVE) ON 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LE CLOTH SEATS FIRST AND SECOND ROW. EVEN THE HIGHEST LOCKING POSITION IS TOO LOW FOR ME AND MY SON. WE ARE APPROXIMATELY 6 FT TALL. CONTACTED TOYOTA AND GENERALLY THEY SAID NOTHING COULD BE DONE BY THEM TO HELP ME. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHTS CONTINUE TO ILLUMINATE AND PREVENT THE AIR BAGS FROM DEPLOYING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIVE TIMES FOR THIS FAILURE. ON THE FIRST TWO OCCURRENCES, THE DEALER RESET THE SWITCH. ON THE MOST RECENT VISIT, THE DEALER REPLACED THE CENTER AIR BAG SENSOR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE SHOP ON MAY 10, 2007 FOR THE DEALER TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER SIDE SEAT. THE FAILURE HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE DECEMBER OF 2006. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 17,000.
MY 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA'S ACCELERATOR GETS STUCK IN THE ACCELERATION POSITION. I WAS ENTERING THE HIGHWAY SO I WAS QUICKLY ACCELERATING TO MERGE WITH TRAFFIC AND ONCE I MERGED WITH TRAFFIC I RELEASED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO ADJUST MY SPEED AND THE PEDAL REMAINED IN ACCELERATION MODE AND I WAS UNABLE TO STOP IT. I TRIED PRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP OR DECREASE THE ACCELERATION AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. I TRIED DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL AGAIN TO SEE IF IT WAS STUCK AND THAT DIDN'T WORK. EVENTUALLY THE ACCELERATION STOPPED ON ITS OWN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE AND MY HUSBAND ONCE. SO FAR THIS HAS OCCURRED THREE TIMES SINCE WE'VE HAD THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT INTO A TOYOTA DEALER WHERE THEY RECORDED MY ISSUE ON THE SERVICE INVOICE ON 2/17/07 AND WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE AND REMARKED THAT MY FLOOR MATS WERE UPSIDE DOWN AND THAT I SHOULD INSTALL THEM PROPERLY. *TR

THE LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN ABOUT A MONTH LATER, BUT THE DEALER, BALISE TOYOTA IN WEST SPRINGFIELD, MA, RESET IT DURING AN OIL CHANGE. IN MID OCTOBER, MY WIFE WAS BROADSIDED IN HER DOOR BY A HONDA CIVIC. NONE OF THE AIRBAGS, INCLUDING THE SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. THE MINI VAN WAS IN THE SHOP FOR ANOTHER MONTH, AND THE DEALER AGAIN RESET THE LIGHT, WHICH HAD COME ON, APPARENTLY DURING THE CRASH. SINCE OCTOBER THE VAN HAS BEEN SERVICED FIVE OR SIX TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO TURN THE AIRBAGS BACK ON AGAIN, AND CLAIMED THAT THERE WAS NO FIX FOR THIS BECAUSE IT WAS INTENTIONAL. OTHER DEALERS WANT TO CHARGE US FOR THIS, EVEN THOUGH IT SHOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. LAST WEEK, A PERSON AT MOORE OF TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE TOLD ME THAT THE COMPANY'S OFFICIAL POSITION WAS THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT BROKEN, BUT RATHER THAT MY WIFE AND I DID NOT DESERVE THE PROTECTION BECAUSE OF OUR WEIGHT. IT ALSO DOES THIS WITH THE SONAR OFF AND HITTING THE "RESUME SPEED" SWITCH ON THE CRUISE. I HAVE NOT HAD AN ACCIDENT WITH THIS ISSUE, BUT IT SURE IS SCARY WHEN IT DOES THIS. AS A RESULT, I DON'T USE MY CRUISE CONTROL VERY OFTEN AND IF I DO, USUALLY KICK IT OFF BY TAPPING THE BRAKE WHEN THE SONAR SLOWS THE CAR DOWN SO IT DOESN'T TAKE OFF LIKE A ROCKET. BRAKES SQUEALED WITHIN DAYS OF PURCHASING NEW SIENNA 8-SEAT MINI-VAN. IT WAS RETURNED TO BE FIXED TO DEALER WHO "GLAZED" THE BRAKES. WITHIN DAYS THEY WERE SQUEALING AGIN. IT WAS AGAIN RETURNED TO DEALER WHO REPLACED REAR DRUMS AND SHOES. WITHIN A FEW DAYS THE BRAKES WERE SQUEALING AGAIN. IT WAS TAKEN TO A SECOND DEALER WHO AGAIN REPLACED REAR DRUMS AND SHOE BUT WITHIN 24 HOURS, THE BRAKES WERE AGAIN SQUEALING. IT HAS LESS THAN 4000 MILES AND HAS HAD LESS THAN A WEEK WHEN THE BRAKES HAVE NOT BEEN SQUEALING. ADDITIONALLY, IT TAKES EXCESSIVE FORCE TO CLOSE BACK HATCH.
