THE AUTOMATIC SLIDING PASSENGER DOOR JAMMED APPROXIMATELY HALFWAY OPEN AND COULD NO LONGER BE OPENED OR CLOSED. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT A REST STOP ALONG I-87. I REMOVED THE DOOR PANEL AND OBSERVED THAT THE PROTECTIVE PLASTIC COATING ON THE ACTUATOR CABLE HAD WORN OFF AND THE BARE CABLE APPEARED TO HAVE CUT THROUGH ONE OF THE PLASTIC PULLEYS WHICH COMPLETELY DISINTEGRATED THUS JAMMING THE DOOR. I HAD TO CUT THE CABLE AND REMOVE THE REMNANTS OF THE PULLEY IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO MANUALLY OPERATE THE DOOR SO I COULD CONTINUE DRIVING HOME WITH MY FAMILY. NO ONE WAS HARMED AS A RESULT OF THE INCIDENT.
2006 SIENNA LE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT KEEPS FLASHING.
THE VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) SYSTEM UNEXPECTEDLY ENGAGED MULTIPLE TIMES WHILE DRIVING AT A SAFE SPEED ON A DRY, PAVED, WINDING ROAD. THIS HAPPENED 10 - 15 TIMES DURING A 1 HOUR PERIOD, USUALLY WHILE DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 20 TO 40 MPH IN A RIGHT HAND CURVE. EACH TIME THE PROBLEM HAPPENED, THE BRAKES SUDDENLY AND AUTOMATICALLY ENGAGED HARD, CAUSING A NEAR LOSS OF CONTROL. THIS WAS ACCOMPANIED BY THE SKID INDICATOR LIGHT BLINKING AND A LOUD BEEPING SOUND. THE SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP STATED THAT A WORN RACK AND PINION IS CAUSING THE VSC SYSTEM TO INCORRECTLY DETECT THAT THE VEHICLE IS IN A SKID, SO THE SYSTEM IS APPLYING THE BRAKES IN AN ATTEMPT TO REGAIN CONTROL. IF THIS ISSUE HAD HAPPENED AT A HIGHER SPEED OR WHILE BEING FOLLOWED CLOSELY BY ANOTHER VEHICLE, I HAVE NO DOUBT THAT IT WOULD HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT.
THE DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE LOOSE FROM THE ADJUSTABLE SEAT FRAME AT THE OUTBOARD REAR BRACKET AS I WAS EXITING THE VEHICLE. THE WELD DID NOT FAIL. THE FAILURE WAS ON THE BRACKET NEXT TO THE WELD POINT. (THIS IS THE 2ND SEAT FAILURE FOR ME IN LESS THAN A YEAR! THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY, INBOARD REAR SEAT BRACKET.)
SIDE DOOR IS MALFUNCTIONING. HAD TO DRIVE HOME WITH IT OPEN. GRANDDAUGHTER HAD TO MOVE TO REAR BECAUSE I COULDN'T GET IT SHUT AFTER SHE GOT IN. FRIGHTENING EXPERIENCE. SON-IN-LAW HAD TO USE FORCE TO GET IT SHUT. HAVEN'T USED IN 3 MONTHS UNTIL I COULD AFFORD TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THERE WAS AN EXTENSION ADDED TO THE WARRANTY BUT SAID I WASN'T ELIGIBLE. $2,125 + TAX TO FIX!!!!
AIRBAG LIGHT FLASHING WITHOUT CAUSE AT 150,000 MILES
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE GEARS, THE SHIFT LEVER BECAME INOPERABLE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE SHIFTER CABLE FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT BEGAN TO BLINK AFTER 145,000 MILES. SAME AS HUNDREDS OF OTHER ENTRIES SHOWN ON THIS WEBSITE. WILL BE CONTACTING TOYOTA DEALER.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF CONSTANTLY WITHOUT ANY ACCIDENT WHEN I DRIVE IN CITY HIGHWAY.
THE VSC SUDDENLY ACTIVATES AT RANDOM WHILE THE CAR IS IN MOTION AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. IT MOSTLY OCCURS ON RIGHT TURNS WHILE APPLYING THE BRAKES. IT PUMPS THE BRAKES AND TURNS THE WHEEL. IT IS EXTREMELY UNNERVING AND DANGEROUS. THE DEALERSHIP AND A PRIVATE MECHANIC TRIED SEVERAL THINGS TO FIX THE PROBLEM, BUT NOTHING WORKED.
MINIVAN IS KEPT IN GARAGE ALL THE TIME AND DRIVEN VERY FEW MILES PER YEAR. HOWEVER, THERE IS INTENSE CRACKING ALL OVER THE DASHBOARD. THE DASHBOARD IS MELTING AND JEOPARDIZING THE AIRBAGS BEING DEPLOYED. TOYOTA IS AWARE OF THIS AND SENT A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION TO GET ALL MELTING/CRACKED DASHBOARDS FIXED FREE OF CHARGE. HOWEVER, THE TOYOTA DEALERSHIP NEVER CALLED TO TELL ME THE PART IS IN AND IT HAS BEEN ALMOST 2 YEARS NOW AND NOW I AM TOLD IT'S PAST THE DATE TO GET THIS FIXED. DEALERSHIP: TEXAS TOYOTA OF GRAPEVINE, 701 STATE HWY. 114 EAST, GRAPEVINE, TX 76051 (817) 259 - 1493 IS PHONE NUMBER. IT IS SUSPECT, THE ORDER WAS CANCELLED SO TOYOTA CAN SAVE MONEY AND THEN TELL CUSTOMERS IT'S PAST THE DATE OF GETTING THIS FIXED. VEHICLE HAS DEFECTIVE, CRACKING DASHBOARDS & TOYOTA KNOW OF THIS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE DASHBOARD FRACTURED. LYNCH TOYOTA IN MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO WARRANTY COVERAGE ON THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 120,000. *TT *TR
CORROSION ON OEM 17' ALUMINUM WHEEL RIMS CAUSED AIR TO SLOWLY LEAK OUT BETWEEN RIM & TIRE. LEAKING OCCURRED OVER SEVERAL DAYS WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED OR BEING DRIVEN. TIRES WERE RE-MOUNTED THREE TIMES TO CORRECT PROBLEM. TIRE SHOP HAD TO CLEAN & THEN POLISH RIM MATING SURFACE TO REMOVE CORROSION TO GET TIRES TO SEAT & HOLD AIR.
I HAVE A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE. THERE IS A RECALL SSC-C80. THE RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED BY A DEALERSHIP ON 01/09/2009. EVERYTHING HAD BEEN FINE SINCE THEN. ON 05/17/2016 I WENT TO FREMONT TOYOTA FOR ANOTHER SERVICE. THEY CHECKED MY VAN AND PERFORM THE SAME RECALL SERVICE (SSC-C80) WITHOUT NOTIFYING ME. NOW THE BACK HATCH WON'T CLOSE AUTOMATICALLY (VIA BUTTON). IT MUST BE CLOSED MANUALLY. I WENT TO FREMONT TOYOTA AND WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR FOR $$$$. I NOTICE THAT THERE IS ANOTHER (SAME) COMPLAINT (10355452) THAT THE NEW STRUTS (68905-AE015) ARE TOO STRONG FOR EXISTING HATCHBACK MOTOR. I THINK THAT THE OLD STRUTS WERE PERFECT (WAS PUT ON IN 2009) TO MATCH WITH THE EXISTING MOTOR. I EVEN ASKED THE DEALER TO REVERSE THE WORK TO PUT THE OLD STRUTS BACK AS I NEVER HAD A PROBLEM SINCE 2009 AND I NEVER ASKED THE DEALER TO PERFORM THE SERVICE. THEY REFUSED. NOW I END UP WITH A MALFUNCTION BACK HATCH, WHICH HAS TO BE CLOSED MANUALLY. I WANT TO EITHER GET THE OLD STRUTS BACK, OR THEY SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM FREE OF CHARGE.
SRS WARNING INDICATOR IS CONTINUOUSLY SHOWING UP IN A BLINKING MODE.
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS ON VARIOUS DATES IN THE LAST 2 WEEKS THE TRACTION CONTROL ALARM ON OUR CAR HAS FALSELY GONE OFF, BRAKES ENGAGED, AND WE LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR. WE WERE TRAVELING ON MINOR BENDS ON THE INTERSTATE AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 40 AND 60 MILES PER HOUR WHEN THIS HAPPENED. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A HUGE AND COMMON PROBLEM THAT TOYOTA DOESN'T APPEAR TO BE TAKING SERIOUSLY. I'VE NEVER FILED A COMPLAINT BEFORE, BUT THIS IS SO DANGEROUS AND SO RAMPANT THAT I BELIEVE IT ISN'T A MATTER OF IF PEOPLE WILL DIE, BUT WHEN. I FEAR FOR THE LIVES OF MY WIFE AND FOUR CHILDREN.
AIRBAG LIGHT INDICATOR IS ON WITHOUT THE CAR INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE REPAIR PERSON(DELAER) CHECKED IT AND SAYS THE COMPLETE ASSEMBLY HAS TO BE REPLACED AND HE IS NOT SURE WHY IT WENT FAULT. I SUSPECT IT IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WITH THE WIRING
THE DRIVERS SIDE SLIDING DOOR DOES NOT WORK MANUALLY. WHEN I PUSH THE BUTTON I HEAR THE MOTOR TRYING TO OPEN IT, BUT IT DOESN'T OPEN AT ALL.
DRIVERS SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT WORK AUTOMATICALLY.
MY 2006 SIENNA AIRBAGS UNPREDICTABLY BECOME NON-FUNCTIONAL. THAT IS, THE WARNING LIGHT GOES ON AND OFF AT UNPREDICTABLE INTERVALS. I AM TOLD BY THE DEALER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVES THAT THE AIRBAGS ARE NON-FUNCTIONAL (I.E., SYSTEM SHUT DOWN) WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT IS FLASHING. THIS IS A SEVERE SAFETY CONCERN TO ME FOR THE SAKE OF MY FAMILY. IT IS GALLING SINCE THE AIRBAG SYSTEM WAS A MAJOR SELLING POINT OF THE CAR. AN ESTIMATE REPAIRS BY DEALER IS $1100 APPARENTLY INCLUDED REPLACING WHOLE AIRBAG SYSTEM. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY DE OWNER HAS TO RESPOND FOR A SECURE SYSTEM THAT NEVER HAD USED, AND WHY THE MANUFACTURER NOT WARNS THAT THE AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL DEGRADE OVER TIME. THE VAN IS IN MOTION ON A CITY.
TAKATA RECALL AIRBAG LIGHT ON WHEN START ENGINE AND AIRBAG LIGHT ON STILL ON NOT TURN OFF AFTER ONE MINUTER
NEITHER SLIDING DOOR OPENS. DOORS REMAIN IN CLOSED AND LOCKED POSITION. CABLE ON POWER DOOR SNAPPED DURING OPERATION (OPENING). MANUAL DOOR REFUSES TO OPEN AND REMAINS CLOSED AT ALL TIMES. BOTH DOORS FUNCTIONED PROPERLY UP UNTIL A MONTH AGO. BOTH DOORS MALFUNCTIONED WITHIN A MONTH OF ONE ANOTHER. NO ACCIDENT OCCURRED DURING THIS TIME. THE CAR HAS NOT SUSTAINED ANY BODY DAMAGE DURING OUR SEVEN YEARS OF OWNERSHIP.
RELEASE LEVER MECHANISM TO OPEN THE HOOD IS NOT FUNCTIONING. THERE IS NO TENSION OR RELEASE. THE HOOD OF THE 2006 TOYOTA MINI-VAN CE CAN'T BE OPENED. VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO WISCONSIN WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS. CORROSION, SALT MIGHT BE A FACTOR. UNABLE TO CHECK THE INSIDE OF THE ENGINE OR CHANGE THE OIL, BELT, ETC. HOOD IS IN PERMANENTLY LOCKED, IN A CLOSED POSITION.
THE RIGHT SIDE SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN AUTOMATICALLY ALSO WILL NOT SHUT WHEN AUTOMATIC BUTTON IS PUSHED. I AM VERY CONCERNED THIS DOOR MAY NOT OPEN IF NEEDED OR SHUT IF NEEDED.
TOYOTA HAS AN ON-GOING ISSUE WITH AIRBAG/SRS WIRING HARNESSES THAT FAIL. WHEN THE WIRING HARNESS FAILS IT DISABLES THE ENTIRE SRS SYSTEM. THE OCCUPANT IS THEN AT RISK IN A COLLISION. THIS CONDITION INITIATED ON ITS OWN AND IS NOT THE RESULT OF A COLLISION. THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALER RELAYED THAT IT IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE AND WOULD COST OVER $2000 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. IT SHOWS UP ON THE OBDII DIAGNOSTIC AS A RIGHT-SIDE AIRBAG SQUIB. THIS CODE IS AS FOLLOWS; B0106 CODE OPEN IN P SQUIB CIRCUIT.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON INTERMITTENTLY SOMETIMES DAYS OTHER TIMES MONTHS. NOTED NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET FROM OTHER TOYOTA OWNERS DEALER SQUAWKS THE WIRING HARNESS AND AIRBAG. VERY UNRELIABLE SAFETY PROTECTION.
VISITED THE DEALER TO CHECK THE NOISE, TPMS AND VIBRATINGSOUND WHEN MAKING TURNS AND DRIVING OVER 35 MPH. TECH INFORMED ME THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE TIRE HAD BUMP AND FOUND THAT THE STEERING RACK AND PINION SECTOR IS LEAKING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE BOOT AND THE STEERING HAS A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL. MILES 85K
THE DRIVERS SIDE PASSENGER DOOR DOES NOT STAY CLOSED. I HAVE HAD IT FIXED ONCE LAST YEAR AND NOW IT FLIES OPEN AGAIN EVEN WHEN YOUR DRIVING. IT WILL NOT STAY CLOSED EVEN IF YOU TURN OFF THE POWER DOOR.
DRIVER'S SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WON'T CLOSE. IT TRIES TO CLOSE WHEN YOU PRESS ANY OF THE BUTTONS OR HANDLE BUT IT GETS STUCK AND REMAINS OPEN.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE METAL TUBE ON THE RETURN LINE FOR THE PRESSURE LINE WAS RUBBING ON THE ENGINE AND OIL PAN. AS A RESULT, THE OIL PAN FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE POWER STEERING FLUID TO LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.
CRACK OR STICKY DASH DUE TO STICK DASH SUN REFLECT TO YOUR EYE WHICH BLIND YOU WHILE DRIVING THAT IS DANGEROUS FOR AN ACCIDENT
PURCHASED 4 NEW CS5 GRAND TOURING TIRES THAT HAVE 80,000 MILE "WEAR OUT" WARRANTY ON JANUARY 26, 2016. MILES = 174295. IN APRIL 2018, 1 YEAR 4 MONTHS LATER, MILES NOW AT 215089 (40K PUT ON, SO SHOULD HAVE ANOTHER 40K MORE) MY VEHICLE WOULD SHAKE, NOT HOLD AIR, I EVEN HAD PROBLEMS WITH AIR GOING INTO THROUGH THE VALVE, MY VEHICLE FAILED AN ALIGNMENT CHECK BY AN AUTHORIZED TOYOTA DEALERSHIP. TIRE TREAD DEPTH FRONT DRIVER: 4 6 5 5 TIRE TREAD DEPTH FRONT PASS: 5 6 6 5 TIRE TREAD DEPTH REAR DRIVER 6 8 8 7 TIRED TREAD DEPTH READ PASS: 6 7 7 6 OBVIOUSLY NOT GOING TO GET ANOTHER 40K MILES OUT OF THESE TIRES. IN ADDITION THE WEAR ON THEM IS INCONSISTENT ON EACH TIRE. THE TIRE ISN'T WEARING RIGHT. ALIGNMENT RIGHT REAR CAMBER: -1.9 -.9. I HAD AN ALIGNMENT ACTUALLY TWO, BUT ONE CLOSE TO THIS APPOINTMENT. TAKE MY VEHICLE INTO WEAR I PURCHASED THEM, THE FINE PRINT COMES INTO PLAY. SURE THE CRAPPY TIRES, WEARING OUT POURLY, NOT HOLDING AIR, WON'T MAKE IT 80K, BUT I PAY HALF FOR TWO NEW TIRES PLUS LABOR, THE OTHER TWO TIRES DO NOT QUALIFY I'M JUST SOL. REPLACEMENT TIRES TO CHOSE FROM, THE EXACT SAME TIRE. SO I GET TO PAY FOR TWO NEW TIRES OF THE EXACT SAME BRAND AND WARRANTY. UPDATE TO FOLLOW AS A "MANUFACTURER DEFECT" HAS BEEN FOUND IN THE TWO TIRES THAT WERE ORIGINAL.
AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR IS ALWAYS ON. APPARENTLY THE CONNECTOR BENEATH THE DRIVER SEAT IS FAULTY SOMEHOW. AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN CASE OF AN IMPACT.
BACK HATCH DOES NOT STAY UP. FALLS DOWN ON HEAD, NECK, BACK OF PERSON GETTING OUT ITEMS. VEHICLE STATIONARY. THERE WAS A NONMANDATORY RECALL OF THIS IN SIENNA'S WITH POWER HATCHES IN 2008.

WATER COMES OUT THE AIRBAG LOCATION ON DRIVER SIDE . THE SRS LIGHT COMES ON. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CONTINUALLY GOES OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND NEEDS A RECALL.
THE PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR OPENS ONLY 30-40% AND THEN GETS STUCK. THIS IS DUE TO WHAT APPEARS TO BE A DOOR CABLE FAULT (MOTOR STILL WORKS). A BIG EFFORT FROM AN ADULT CAN OPEN AND CLOSE, BUT NOT POSSIBLE FROM ANY OF OUR SIX CHILDREN RIDING IN THE BACK. THE DRIVER SLIDING DOOR IS BLOCKED BY A REAR FACING BABY SEAT, SO THERE IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THIS ISSUE STARTED AT THE BEGINNING OF THE DAY. THERE WERE NO ISSUES PRIOR TO THIS. *JS
THE STEERING RACK AND PINION SECTOR IS LEAKING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE BOOT AND THE STEERING HAS A KNOCKING NOISE WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MOTOR TO THE BACK DOOR LATCH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE FAILED TO LOCK AUTOMATICALLY. IN ORDER TO LOCK THE DOOR, THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE DOOR. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
NOTICED FOR SEVERAL MONTHS A BINDING IN CLOSING ELECTRIC SIDE DOORS. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I COULD NOT CLOSE THE SLIDING DOOR. NOTICED A BROKEN CABLE. THE CABLE WAS FRAYED. IT IS ALSO FRAYED ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE CAR. I WENT TO THE TOYOTA DEALER TO GET IT REPAIRED FREE. MY ODOMETER HAD 124,000 MILES. THE TOYOTA EXTENDED TECHNICAL WARRANTY ENDED AT 120,000. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. THE OTHER NIGHT I DROVE HOME IN 28 DEGREE WEATHER WITH THE SLIDING DOOR OPEN, BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT CLOSE. WE HAD TO BREAK THE CABLE TO GET THE DOOR CLOSED WHEN WE FINALLT GOT HOME. CHILDREN CAN FALL OUT OF OPEN SIDE DOORS ON TOYOTA VANS!! THIS IS A SERIOUS MANUFACTURING PROBLEM, AND TOYOTA SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE CABLES AT ANY DATE THAT THEY BREAK SO CHILDREN CAN GET IN OR OUT OF THE CAR SAFELY, AND OWNERS DO NOT HAVE TO DRIVE AROUND WITH THEIR DOORS OPEN. IT ALSO RUNS DOWN THE BATTERY!! A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. MY GRANDCHILDREN CAN FALL OUT OF MY CAR!!!! PLEASE MAKE THEM REPAIR MY OUR VANS FOR FREE. $1200-1600 FIX PER DOOR, OTHERWISE. SAFETY ISSUE!!!!!!!!!! RIDICULOUS I HAVE TO EVEN ASK FOR YOUR HELP. TOYOTA NEEDS TO COVER THEIR CARS.
OUR VEHICLE HAS 119,698 MILES OF WEAR. WE HAD OUR VEHICLE SERVICED AT A REPUTABLE DEALER. WHILE STATIONARY, BOTH A WHEEL STUD (DURING TIRE ROTATION), AND THE OIL PUMP TENSIONER BOLT HOLE (DURING SERVICE) BROKE. DEALER TOLD US EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS NOT USED. I BELIEVE INFERIOR METAL USED IN MANUFACTURING.
MY POWER DOOR STOP WORKING ON THE DRIVER BACK SIDE. I HAD TO FORCE ITS CLOSE. AND NOW I CAN'T GET IT TO OPEN BACK UP. THE BACK ROW BELT WON'T PULL DOWN. SO ITS CAN'T BE USED NOW. AND THE FUEL MILES ON THIS VAN IS VERY POOR AT 11. TOYOTA IS VERY HIGH PRICE WHEN ITS COME TO LITTLE PROBLEMS.
THIS AFTERNOON I ENTERED THE HIGHWAY AND WAS GOING ABOUT 60-65 MPH WHEN MY CAR SUDDENLY STARTED ACCELERATING ON ITS OWN, I REPEATEDLY DEPRESSED THE BRAKE, EVEN STANDING ON IT IN AN ATTEMPT TO SLOW THE CAR. THE CAR WAS MAKING A REVVING SOUND AND THE BRAKES WERE DOING NOTHING TO SLOW THE CAR, IT JUST KEPT ACCELERATING. FINALLY, THE BRAKES SEEMED TO ENGAGE, THE REVVING STOPPED, AND THE CAR SEEMED NORMAL AGAIN. I PULLED OFF THE HIGHWAY AND CALLED AAA TO HAVE THE CAR TOWED TO MECHANIC. CAR HAS ABOUT 105,000 MILES ON IT AND IT'S BEEN VERY RELIABLE UP UNTIL NOW. I WILL REPORT TO TOYOTA AND I WILL NOT DRIVE THIS CAR AGAIN, MUCH LESS LET MY CHILDREN RIDE IN IT.
THE CAR'S VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL (VSC) WILL ACTIVATE UNEXPECTEDLY, BRAKING HARD AND CAUSING TEMPORARY LOSS OF CONTROL. THERE IS ALSO AN AUDIBLE ALARM AND THE VSC LIGHT TURNS ON. OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 30-50 MPH, TYPICALLY ON A GENTLE CURVE LIKE A FREEWAY INTERCHANGE. HAS OCCURRED AS MANY AS 9 TIMES ON A SINGLE DRIVE, AND HAS CAUSED A COUPLE NEAR ACCIDENTS. AN INTERNET SEARCH OF ONLINE FORUMS SHOWS THAT THIS ISSUE IS COMMON IN SIENNAS AFTER 100,000 MILES. THUS FAR MY TOYOTA DEALER HAS CLAIMED THEY ARE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE THE PROBLEM.
DRIVER'S SIDE POWER WINDOW STOPPED WORKING. MILEAGE APPROX. 126,123. TOYOTA DEALER SAID WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. I SPECIFICALLY ASKED IF THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH WAS INVOLVED, BECAUSE TOYOTA JUST SENT OUT RECALL 15V689000 SAYING THE MASTER POWER WINDOW SWITCH IN SOME TOYOTA VEHICLES COULD MELT OR OVERHEAT. TOYOTA ASSURED ME THAT NO, THE SWITCH WAS NOT INVOLVED. I TOOK THE VAN TO ANOTHER SHOP FOR REPAIR. THEY REPLACED THE WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR, AS PER TOYOTA DIAGNOSIS. THE WINDOW STILL DID NOT WORK! AND WHEN THE MASTER SWITCH WAS DEPRESSED, THE CONTROL PANEL BEGAN TO VISIBLY SMOKE! TO FURTHER TEST, THE SHOP SUPPLIED SEPARATE POWER TO MY ORIGINAL WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR - AND THEY WORKED FINE. THE SHOP THEN RE-INSTALLED MY ORIGINAL WINDOW REGULATOR ASSEMBLY AND MOTOR, AND REPLACED THE MASTER SWITCH. THE WINDOW NOW WORKS. TOYOTA CLEARLY MISSED THE BOAT ON THIS ONE. THE SWITCH FAILED AND THE FACT THAT IT VISIBLY SMOKED MEANS THAT IT DOES, INDEED, FALL UNDER THE RECALL. THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED OR REIMBURSED UNDER THE TOYOTA RECALL. AND YES, THE SIENNA IS AFFECTED.
PASSENGER FRONT DOOR MAKES LOUD POPPING/CRACKING NOISES WHENEVER OPENED OR CLOSED. IT SOUNDS LIKE THE DOOR WILL FALL OFF. I FILED A NHTSA COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM IN 2014. IN 2012-2013 THE DOOR HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, AND IT WAS REPAIRED BY A BODY SHOP. THEY RE-WELDED IT. THE SHOP RE-WELDED THIS - AGAIN. NOW THE DOOR HAS BEEN REPAIRED TWICE. MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WELD WAS FIXED UNDER WARRANTY AT 32,00 MILES. TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY COVERAGE ENHANCEMENT FOR THIS (THE "DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL," POL07-04, ISSUED 10/22/07), WHICH EXTENDS UP TO 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. MY VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED FOR THE PASSENGER SIDE WELDS BECAUSE IT WAS PAST 100,00 MILES.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO PROVIDE THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A TIME FRAME FOR WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BECOME AVAILABLE.
