THE AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON AS EXPECTED WHEN THE VAN IS STARTED. THEN INSTEAD OF GOING OUT, IT FLASHES THE ENTIRE TIME THE CAR IS ON. THIS HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY. SOMETIMES IF THE VAN IS SHUT OFF AND RESTARTED, THE LIGHT WILL GO OUT. BUT THEN A COUPLE DAYS LATER, IT WILL FLASH AGAIN. I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER OR NOT MY AIRBAGS WOULD ACTUALLY DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE THAT HAS HAPPENED TO MANY OTHER PEOPLE. REPAIRS ARE EXPENSIVE FOR VAN OWNERS AND THE ISSUE RETURNS AFTER REPAIRS. PLEASE CONSIDER AN INVESTIGATION OF THIS ISSUE. THERE ARE THOSE OF US WHO CANNOT AFFORD THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO FIX OUR VANS, AND WE HAVE NO CHOICE OTHER THAN TO DRIVE OUR FAMILIES AROUND IN UNSAFE VEHICLES WITH OUR FINGERS CROSSED THAT WE DON'T GET IN AN ACCIDENT. THE DOOR DRIVER SIDE HAS THE PROBLEM: THE DOOR MAKING NOISE LIKE CRACKING INSIDE THE DOOR, THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP THEY TOLD ME THE YEAR 2005 AND 2006 SAME MY PROBLEM ALOT,BECAUSE THE WELDING INSIDE DOOR PANEL ATTACH WITH LATCH THE WELDING CAME OFF,THAT WHY WHEN I OPEN AND CLOSE DOOR IT MAKE CRACKING NOISE,THEY TOLD ME HARD TO REPAIR AND COST ALOT MONEY. FAILURE OF THE RACK AND PINION BOOT CAUSES A LEAK OF LUBRICANT AND CONTAMINATION OF THE RACK AND PINION SYSTEM. SINCE A FAILURE OF THE BOOT CAN LEAD INTO NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL THE STEERING, THIS COULD CAUSE AN ACCIDENT ON THIS MINIVAN AND SHOULD BE RECALLED BYTOYOTA IN ORDER TO FIX IT.. I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE OF THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM,
I STARTED UP THE VAN AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS BLINKING. I TRIED TO UNPLUG AND REPLUG YELLOW CONNECTER PUT DID NOT GO AWAY. *TR

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DRIVER SIDE DOOR WELD FAILURE. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED LAST WEEK, THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR DEVELOPED A POPPING NOISE THAT OCCURRED WHENEVER THE DOOR WAS OPENED OR CLOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, WHERE AN INSPECTION REVEALED THE SPOT WELDS HAD BROKEN AWAY FROM THE DOOR STRUCTURE. *JB
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA LE ACQUIRED 9/2013 WITH 93K MILES ON IT. SINGLE PREVIOUS OWNER WITH "CLEAN" CARFAX AND SERVICE RECORDS. STARTING 1/2014, VEHICLE STABILITY CONTROL BEGAN ENGAGING ERRATICALLY AT INAPPROPRIATE TIMES WHILE CORNERING DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING. IT IS VERY STARTLING WITH LOUD BEEPS AND FLASHING LIGHTS FOLLOWED BY AUTOMATIC BRAKING THAT CAUSES VEHICLE TO SLOW AND SWERVE ABRUPTLY. THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO DO SO AND IS CLEARLY A MALFUNCTION AS IT HAPPENS ON DRY ROADS, IN GENTLE CORNERS AND AT CONSERVATIVE SPEEDS 45-65 MPH, AND UNPROVOKED BY ABRUPT STEERING, ACCELERATOR, OR BRAKING INPUTS. A VERY OBVIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AS WELL AS MUCH UNDUE WEAR AND TEAR ON BRAKES, TIRES, SUSPENSION, AND STEERING. *TR
STEERING OIL LEAK ON PASSENGER SIDE FOUND DURING ROUTINE OIL CHANGE, THE STEERING RACK INNER SEALS HAD DISINTEGRATED CAUSING FLUID LEAKAGE THAT WAS NOT EVIDENT UNTIL THE BOOT HAD BEEN AFFECTED AND BROKEN. *TR
DRIVER SEAT BELT GETS STUCK CANNOT RETRACT BACK AND STAYS LOOSE. *TR
NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : EA06020 THE REPLACEMENT STRUT FOR THE REAR LIFT GATE UNDER THE RECALL NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : EA06020 ARE FAILING AGAIN. THEY WERE ALREADY REPLACE ONCE UNDER THE RECALL. IF IT'S A NORMAL WEAR ITEM THEN SHOULD BE LISTED UNDER MAINTENANCE. *TR
THE DOOR CHECK POCKET ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BEGAN MAKING A POPPING SOUND. UPON FURTHER INSPECTION, IT WAS EVIDENT THAT THE SPOT WELDS ON THE POCKET CAME UNDONE. LOOKING INTO THE MATTER, IT BECAME APPARENT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE FOR TOYOTA. THEY OFFERED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT OF 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES FOR THE ISSUE. UPON CONTACTING THE COMPANY AND DISCUSSING THE ISSUE, I WAS PROMPTLY TOLD THAT MY VEHICLE DOES NOT QUALIFY AND THAT THERE IS NOTHING TOYOTA IS WILLING TO DO FOR ME. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY MULTIPLE PEOPLE AT THE NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS THAT THE DECISION HAS BEEN MADE AND THEY WILL NOT COMPENSATE ME FOR THIS FAILURE WHICH IS DUE TO THEIR FAULTY MANUFACTURING. *TR
FOUND BIG CRACK IN DASH BOARD. *TR
THE SRC AIRBAG (CURTAIN/SIDE AIRBAG) MALFUNCTION INDICATOR WENT OFF. IT HAS BEEN BELOW OF RECENTLY. WHEN I GOOGLED IT, SOME PEOPLE POINTED IT OUT TO THE YELLOW HARNESS UNDER THE FRONT SEATS. I WIGGLED IT A LITTLE AS SOME PEOPLE SUGGESTED AND THE INDICATOR LIGHT WENT AWAY (I DON'T KNOW IF IT MAY COME BACK AGAIN). THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN TO ME. ANYONE COULD EASILY BREAK THE HARDNESS WHEN THEY PULL THE TRAY UNDER SEAT. OR A CAR ACCIDENT WHEN YOUR SHOE COULD ACCIDENTALLY KICK THE HARDNESS AND BREAK IT, PREVENTING THE SIDE AIRBAG FROM DEPLOYING. IT HAS TO BE A BETTER WAY TO PROTECT THE HARDNESS. ESPECIALLY HERE IN MINNESOTA WITH BELOW OF THE HARDNESS GET TOO COLD AND MAY BECOME BRITTLE. *TR
THE PASSENGER SIDE, MIDDLE ROW SEAT BELT ON MY 2006 SIENNA WILL NO LONGER RETRACT. IT LOOKS LIKE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM FOR THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE STEERING RACK INNER SEALS HAD DISINTEGRATED CAUSING FLUID LEAKAGE THAT WAS NOT EVIDENT UNTIL THE BOOT HAD BEEN AFFECTED AND BROKEN. CONCERNED BY PART FAILURE WITH SUCH LOW MILEAGE. COMPLAINTS SEEN ON TOYOTA FORUMS - TOYOTA ISSUED TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS IN JULY 2012 BUT NO INFORMATION SENT TO CONSUMERS TSB-0097-12 . CONSIDER THIS TO BE A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT. *TR
THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS BLINKING, INDICATING THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING. THERE IS A TSB ON THIS, #0069-12. A SEARCH INDICATES MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS THAT APPEAR RELATED TO A DEFECT IN THE VEHICLE WIRING. THIS SHOULD BE RECALLED AND FIXED BY TOYOTA. *TR
LAST WEEK, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED FLASHING CONSTANTLY WHILE THE CAR IS RUNNING. A QUICK READ OF THE OWNER'S MANUAL INDICATES A PROBLEM WITH THE SIDE OR CURTAIN AIRBAGS. MORE RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET INDICATES THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH SIENNAS FROM 2006. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA ON A WIDE SCALE BASIS. MY CAR IS LIKE NEW, NOT USED MUCH, NEVER BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT AND HAS 23000 MILES. IT IS INEXCUSABLE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN, AND MORE INEXCUSABLE FOR THE CONSUMER TO HAVE TO PAY TO FIX IT, CONSIDERING THAT THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON SAFETY ISSUE WITH THESE CARS. PLEASE FORCE TOYOTA TO ISSUE A RECALL, TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM FAIRLY, FOR AFFECTED OWNERS. *TR
TWO ISSUES: (1) SINCE 2012, THE FRONT PASSENGER'S DOOR HAS MADE A LOUD POPPING, CRACKING SOUND EVERY TIME IT IS OPENED OR CLOSED. TOYOTA DEALER INFORMED ME THE DOOR WELD IS CRACKED AND THE ENTIRE DOOR MUST BE REMOVED FOR A NEW WELD AND PAINT JOB AT A BODY SHOP. DEALER ALSO SHOWED ME A TOYOTA WARRANTY COVERAGE ENHANCEMENT FOR THIS PROBLEM (THE "DOOR CHECK MOUNTING PANEL," POL07-04, ISSUED 10/22/07), WHICH EXTENDS UP TO 5 YEARS OR 100,000 MILES. I NEVER RECEIVED NOTICE OF THIS IN THE MAIL, AND IT DOES NOT APPEAR UNDER THE TSBS ON THE NHTSA SITE. MY VAN IS NO LONGER COVERED AT 110,000 MILES. NOTE: I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM ON MY DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR AT ONLY 32,000 MILES, WHICH WAS REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. THAT MEANS BOTH MY FRONT DOORS HAVE HAD FAILED WELDS. THIS CLEARLY IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHICH TOYOTA SHOULD COVER, REGARDLESS OF MILEAGE. (2) POWER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPERATE WHEN INTERIOR BUTTONS OR KEY FOB BUTTONS ARE PUSHED. IT WILL OPEN MANUALLY, BUT IT STICKS AND REQUIRES A HARD PULL. DEALER ADVISES CABLING IS MALFUNCTIONING AND THE MOTOR IN THE MAIN CONTROL BOARD IS BAD. I WAS TOLD THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR THE REAR SLIDING DOOR ASSEMBLIES AND POWER SLIDING DOOR ASSEMBLIES WILL COVER THE CABLES AND LATCH, BUT DOES NOT COVER THE MOTOR, THE MAIN CONTROL BOARD, OR THE LOCK! THIS IS A VERY COSTLY REPAIR. THESE COMPONENTS ARE DEFECTIVE AND SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT. *TR

MY AIR BAG LIGHT WENT ON. IT WAS TRACED BY THE SEALER TO A FAULTY WIRE UNDER THE FROM PASSENGER SEAT. THE ISSUE IS THAT THERE IS A DRAWER RIGHT THERE AND THE DRAWER OFTEN GETS STUCK AND INTERFERES WITH THE WIRING. THE WIRING IS VERY EXPOSED AND CAN EASILY GET BROKEN! THE IS A DESIGN FLAW THAT AFFECTS THE SAFETY OF THIS VEHICLE AND SHOULD BE RECALLED! I HAVE SEEN MANY, MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE FROM SIMILAR OWNERS OF THIS VEHICLE. RIGHT SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN OR CLOSE ALL THE WAY. NEED EXTREME MANUAL PRESSURE TO FORCE IT TO CLOSE. TURNING OFF POWER FOR THE SLIDING DOOR STILL DOES NOT ALLOW IT TO BE CLOSED WITHOUT NEEDING EXTREME MANUAL PRESSURE. AT THIS POINT IN TIME, WE ARE ONLY USING THE LEFT PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR TO ENTER AND EXIT THE VEHICLE. *TR
NOTICED LEAK IN FRONT PASSENGER SIDE OF SIENNA VAN. TOOK TO DEALERSHIP, WHO IDENTIFIED THE LEAK SOURCE AS THE STEERING RACK. PART WAS NOT REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, AS TOO MANY YEARS AND 423 MILES BEYOND WARRANTY PERIOD. BROKEN PART 44250-08040 REPLACED PART AS TOYOTA 44250-08041 FAILURE OF PART, IF NOT CAUGHT SOON, ENOUGH, COULD CAUSE LOSS OF STEERING CONTROL WHILE DRIVING. TOYOTA IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND EVEN ISSUES A SERVICE BULLETIN AS TSB-0097-12 IN ADDITION TO A NEW REPLACEMENT PART. THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FAILURE OF THIS PART NOT LONG AFTER WARRANTY PERIOD IS OVER. I BELIEVE THE PART WAS DEFECTIVE AS INSTALLED. I ADD MY VOICE TO THE MANY WHO HAVE REPLACED THIS PART AND WISH TO COMPLAIN ABOUT THE LACK OF RESPONSE FROM TOYOTA CORPORATION. DOT SHOULD INVESTIGATE THIS AND SIMILAR STEERING RACK PARTS. AFTER TOYOTA BRUSHED OFF MY COMPLAINT VIA PHONE SUPPORT, I RECEIVED WRITTEN USPS MAIL IDENTIFYING A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTIFICATION FOR A SEPARATE PROBLEM WITH THE DASHBOARD/INSTRUMENT PANEL , DUE TO CRACKING AND STICKY DASHBOARDS. OBVIOUSLY, IF ENOUGH AFFECTED OWNERS DOCUMENT THEIR COMPLAINTS ABOUT FAILING STEERING RACKS, TOYOTA MIGHT BECOME SERIOUS ABOUT THE PROBLEM. TYPICAL COST OF PART IS $1200-$1600. *TR
DRIVERS SEAT BELT IS FROZEN IN PLACE AT ALL THE WAY OUT, UNUSABLE , HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED TO FIX IT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR HATCH STRUTS FAILED TO SUSTAIN THE HATCH AND CAUSED THE HATCH TO HIT THE CONTACT'S HEAD. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE DID NOT SUFFER INJURIES TO THE HEAD. THE DOOR HATCH WAS NOT REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED THAT THE WARRANTED REPAIR WAS EXPIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 89,000.
I DON'T HAVE RECORD OF THE EXACT DATE. I TOOK MY TOYOTA 2006 SIENNA FOR A REGULAR SERVICE AT SAUVE'S AUTO REPAIR AND SERVICE IN TWO RIVERS, WI. I WAS ADVISED THAT MY SPARE TIRE CARRIER WAS RUSTED SO BAD THAT THE HAD TO REMOVE MY SPARE TIRE AND KEEP IT IN THE TRUNK OR THEY WOULD NOT ALLOW ME TO DRIVE MY VEHICLE, BECAUSE IT WAS NOT SAFE! THEY WERE AMAZED THAT IT HAD NOT FALLEN OFF YET IT WAS SO BAD. IT COULD HAVE BEEN A HAZARD IF IT HAD FALLEN OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING BECAUSE IT COULD HAVE DONE HARM TO ANOTHER VEHICLE OR PERSON. THEY REPAIRED IT. I WAS NOT AWARE OF THE RECALL UNTIL AFTER I HAD IT FIXED. I NOTIFIED TOYOTA ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND ASKED FOR A REFUND ON THE SERVICES. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME MY REFUND BECAUSE I DID NOT HAVE THE ORIGINAL RECEIPT AND INVOICE. AS FAR AS I AM AWARE THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE AN AUTHORIZED PART TO REPLACE IT YET! TOYOTA CASE # 1507170610.
THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN 'GRUMBLING' FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS. FINALLY TOOK IT IN AND THEY ARE HAVING TO REPLACE THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS. I DON'T THINK THE BEARINGS SHOULD BE WEARING OUT IN JUST 100K MILES. *TR
WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A TURN (SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THE FIRST EPISODE, LIKE 10 MORE) THE STEERING WHEEL GETS LOCKED AND DOESN'T RESPOND TO THE WAY THAT I'M TRYING TO STEER, IT'S GET LOCKED OR REALLY HARD TO MANEUVER, AND JUST BECAUSE I'M TURNING AT SLOW SPEED I HAVEN'T HAD AN ACCIDENT. LAST TIME I WAS BACKING UP FROM MY DRIVEWAY AND THEN I COULDN'T MOVE TO ANY SIDE (LEFT OR RIGHT), IT WAS LOCKED FOR LIKE 1 MINUTE. I DON'T KNOW IF THERE IS ANY RECALL ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
SRS WARNING LIGHT STAYS SOLID ON. *TR
ABS LIGHT AND BRAKE LIGHTS ARE ON. TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC AND THEY SAID THAT IT IS NOT THE FIRST SIENNA WITH THAT PROBLEM AND WHEN BOTH LIGHTS ARE ON, THE ABS SYSTEM IS DISABLED. *TR
AIR BAG INDICATOR LIGHT HAS BEGUN FLASHING ON THE DASH UNDER NO EXTRAORDINARY CIRCUMSTANCES. WHEN IGNITION IS STARTED THE LIGHT COMES ON AND BLINKS AT A SLOW RATE UNTIL THE CAR IS TURNED OFF. AIR BAGS HAVE NEVER DEPLOYED ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
THE POWER SLIDING DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE COMPLETELY, LEAVING THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE ON THE ROAD UNSAFE. UPON INSPECTING THE DOOR, THE POWER CORD MAKING THE DOOR OPEN AND CLOSED LOOKED FRAYED AND KNOTTED AND OFF ITS TRACKS. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE DOOR TO COMPLETELY CLOSE WAS TO CUT THE CORD. THE DOOR NOW OPERATES MANUALLY. THEY PASSENGER SIDE CORD PLASTIC COATING LOOKS TO BE CRACKED AND COULD EVENTUALLY COULD BECOME NOT OPERABLE AS THE DRIVER SIDE. CONTACTED THE TOYOTA OF DES MOINES, THEY SAID THERE IS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY OF THE POWER SLIDING DOOR CORDS AND ITS PARTS FOR 9 YEARS AND 120,000 MILES, WHICH EVER COMES FIRST. CANNOT FIX MY TOYOTA SIENNA UNDER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE IT WAS OVER 120,000 MILES. I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE WHEN IT WAS 127,000 MILES. THE PREVIOUS OWNERS DID NOT GET IT FIXED NOR HONDA OF AMES, THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE. I THINK TOYOTA DID NOT DO ENOUGH TO GET THE WORD OUT TO THE PREVIOUS OWNERS OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY OR THE DEALERSHIPS. I LOOKED ON THE TOYOTA WEBSITE, ENTERED MY VIN, THEY WAS NOTHING ABOUT EXTENDED WARRANTIES ON THIS VEHICLE. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL, DUE TO DEFECTIVE PARTS FROM TOYOTA AND THE POTENTIAL UNSAFE SITUATION THIS COULD OF CAUSED TO PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY YOUNG CHILDREN. THEY ARE THE TARGET MARKET FOR TOYOTA SIENNA MINIVANS-FAMILIES WITH YOUNG CHILDREN. IF I BOUGHT A MINIVAN WITH POWER DOORS, I EXPECT TO BE ABLE TO USE THE POWER SLIDING DOORS AS IT WAS INTENDED. 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO DRIVERS SIDE DOOR ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED SEVERAL WEEKS AGO, THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR STARTED MAKING A POPPING NOISE WHEN IT WAS OPENED AND CLOSED. THE CONSUMER DID SOME RESEARCH, AND DISCOVERED THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO POOR ENGINEERING ON THE DOOR WELD, THAT COULD NOT STAND THE STRESS OF OPENING AND CLOSING. THE CONSUMER CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND WAS REASSURED THEY WOULD BE ABLE HELP HIM. THEY INDICATED, THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. AFTER SEVERAL PHONE CALLS AND DRIVING AROUND TO GET VARIOUS ESTIMATED, TOYOTA DECIDED THEY WERE NOT GOING TO ASSIST THE CONSUMER. THE PROBLEM HAS SINCE WORSENED AND NOW REQUIRES A COMPLETE DOOR REPLACEMENT.

DASHBOARD IS SOFT, STICKY AND APPEARS TO BE MELTING, PARTICULARLY IN THE HOT SUN. A LARGE CRACK HAS DEVELOPED LATERALLY ALONG THE ENTIRE WIDTH. *TR
THE REAR DOOR HATCH STRUTS FAILED ON MY 2006 SIENNA LE, IT CAME CRASHING ON ME, FORTUNATELY I CAUGHT IT MIDWAY AND I WASN'T INJURED BECAUSE OF THAT. IF NOT FOR THAT, I COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY HURT. NOW THE REAR DOOR/TRUNK HATCH DOES NOT STAY OPEN, AND IF I LET GO OF IT, IT COMES CRASHING DOWN REALLY FAST. I AM WORRIED THAT THIS WILL HURT SOMEBODY, PARTICULARLY MY CHILDREN. THERE IS A SIMILAR RECALL FOR THE SAME STRUTS USED FOR POWER REAR DOOR HATCH. HOWEVER, WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA THEY MENTIONED THAT RECALL DOESN'T APPLY TO MY VEHICLE JUST BECAUSE MY REAR DOOR HATCH ISN'T POWERED, AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF MY POCKET TO FIX IT. IN MY OPINION THE RECALL SHOULD BE ON THE STRUTS ITSELF REGARDLESS OF WHETHER THE DOOR IS POWERED OR NOT AS THE STRUTS ARE THE ONES THAT FAIL AND NOT THE POWERED FUNCTION OF THE DOOR. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS AS NUMEROUS OTHER PEOPLE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME ISSUE. *JS
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE COMPLETING A LEFT TURN, ANOTHER VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE. THE FRONT AIR BAGS DEPLOYED BUT THE SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAGS DID NOT. THE CONTACT, AND FIVE PASSENGERS SUSTAINED HEAD INJURIES FROM THE IMPACT AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL FOR TREATMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
REAR LEFT PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR WILL NOT OPEN. THE CABLES HAVE SNAPPED AND IT WON'T WORK MANUALLY. PASSENGER CAN BECOME TRAPPED IN THIS SEAT. THE RIGHT HAND DOOR IS WORKING, BUT IF THESE CABLES SNAP, THERE WILL BE NO WAY TO ENTER OR EXIT THE REAR SEAT. TOYOTA IS AWARE AND HAS A "COURTESY" RECALL, BUT MY VEHICLE IS "TOO OLD".
ALL FOUR WHEELS HAVE SEVERE BUBBLING AND PEELING PAINT. SINCE PURCHASING THE CAR, I HAVE ALWAYS GONE TO THE TOYOTA DEALER FOR WORK AND THEY HAVE NOT PAID ANY ATTENTION TO THIS COMPLAINT. WHEN I DECIDED TO HAVE SOME WORK DONE WITH MY HUSBAND'S MECHANIC HE RAISED THE ISSUE. HE IS CONCERNED WITH THE RUST THAT IS OCCURRING AND WILL CONTINUE TO OCCUR OVER TIME WILL EVENTUALLY EFFECT OUR ABILITY TO PLACE NEW TIRES ON THE CAR AS THE RUST ENCROACHES INTO THE RIMS.
THE DRIVER-SIDE SEAT BELT GETS JAMMED DURING RETRACTION AND BECOMES INOPERABLE. THE RESULT IS THAT THE DRIVER MAY CONTINUE DRIVING WITHOUT PROTECTION UNTIL THE BELT CAN BE UNJAMMED. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS REPEATEDLY AND IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO RESOLVE, SOMETIMES REQUIRING AN EXPENSIVE VISIT TO THE DEALER. PARTS REPLACEMENT IS UNLIKELY TO RESOLVE THE PROBLEM SINCE IT SEEMS TO BE A SYSTEM ISSUE.
2006 TOYOTA SIENNA'S STEERING RACK AND PINION HAD SUDDENLY DEVELOPED A LEAK IN A SIDE SEAL WHICH CAUSED A TOTAL LOSS IN POWER STEERING ASSIST WHEN THE FLUID DRAINED OUT. DEALER HAS NOTED THE PROBLEM BUT SAYS THE FAILURES THEY'VE SEEN ARE NOT TO BE CONCERNED OVER? TOYOTA DOES SEEM TO HAVE A TSB ADDRESSING THE EARLY FAILURES BY ISSUING A REPAIR OR REPLACEMENT OF THE RACK AND PINIONS FOR CARS UNDER THEIR 3/36K FACTORY WARRANTY, BUT NOTHING ADDRESSING ANY KIND OF COMPENSATION TO CUSTOMERS WHO EXPERIENCE THE FAILURE WHO ARE OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY.
TOYOTA SIENNA LE 2006. SLIDING DOOR CAN NOT BE COMPLETELY CLOSED. THIS IS A MANUAL SLIDING DOOR. THE DRIVER SIDE SLIDING DOOR CAN NOT BE COMPLETELY CLOSED. THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES IN THE PAST YEAR OR SO. PREVIOUSLY IT WOULD CLOSE AFTER SEVERAL TRIES. BUT THIS TIME IT WOULD NOT WORK NO MATTER WHAT YOU TRY. IT SEEMS THAT ONE OF THE DOOR LOCKING PARTS DOES NOT OPERATE PROPERLY. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH THE DOOR "HALF-OPEN". *TR
THE TAILGATE STRUTS ARE WORN DOWN VERY EASILY BY THE DESIGN OF THE TAILGATE, WITH THE RESULT THAT THE DOOR SLAMS SHUT ON ITS OWN - AND IT IS VERY HEAVY. TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY ON THE STRUTS TO 6 YEARS, BUT THE STRUTS STILL WEAR OUT AFTER A SHORT TIME BECAUSE OF THE TAILGATE DESIGN. TOYOTA APPEARS TO BE AWARE OF THIS BECAUSE OF THE WARRANTY EXTENSION, BUT REFUSES TO ADDRESS THE DESIGN PROBLEM. IT IS A SERIOUS FLAW AS THE HEAVY TAILGATE CAN SLAM DOWN ON THE NECKS AND HEADS OF BOTH ADULTS AND CHILDREN LOADING THE TRUNK. 1) AUGUST 2013 DURING AN OIL CHANGE THE DEALER TECHNICIAN NOTIFIED ME THE STEERING RACK NEEDED REPLACING DUE TO OIL LEAKS FROM THE RACK AND PINION ($1000 REPAIRS). 2) SEPTEMBER 2014 ASKED DEALER TO CHECK AIR CONDITIONING AC RIGHT CENTER CONSOLE BLOWER. AFTER RECHARGING THE SYSTEM WITH DYE, FOUND THE AC LINES TO THE REAR CABIN CORRODED UNDER THE WHEEL WELLS -- RECOMMENDED $1500 TO REPLACE ENTIRE LINES (I DECLINED PENDING FURTHER INSPECTION SUMMER 2015). 3) FEBRUARY 2015 NOTICED RIGHT SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING ELECTRONICALLY, WITH KEY FOB, INTERIOR SWITCHES, ETC., AND WOULD ONLY WORK WHEN PULLING OPEN/CLOSING MANUALLY BY HAND. ACTUATORS STILL WORKED TO "LOCK" THE DOOR DURING THE LAST INCH CLOSING/OPENING. NOTICED BLACK CABLE SHEATHING FRAYED AND BARE IN SPOTS, SHOWING STEEL CABLE INSIDE, BUT CABLE STILL INTACT. FOUND ONLINE FORUMS STATING MANY HAVING SIMILAR ISSUES. LOCATED MY EXTENSION TO WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT NOTICE FROM TOYOTA MAILING STATING "CERTAIN 2004-2007 MODEL YEAR SIENNA REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES AND POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE ASSEMBLIES" MAY BE COVERED (UP TO 120K OR 9 YEARS FROM ORIGINAL DATE OF PURCHASE, WHICHEVER CAME FIRST), VIA THE TOYOTA CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM. HOWEVER, THIS "ENHANCEMENT" DOES NOT COVER DOOR MOTOR ASSEMBLY FAILURES, WHICH MY DEALER TECHNICIAN IDENTIFIED AS THE PROBABLE MAIN CAUSE OF THE DOOR NOT WORKING PROPERLY (AFTER HAVING REMOVED PART OF THE DOOR FOR INSPECTION). I DECLINED THE $1000 LABOR + $1200 PARTS ($2200 TOTAL) MOTOR, BUT ACCEPTED THE FREE CABLE ASSEMBLY WARRANTY COVERAGE. AM NOW USING THE DOOR IN MANUAL MODE ONLY. MY CONCERNS: THESE PARTS ARE WEARING OUT PREMATURELY UNDER NORMAL USE/WEAR AND TEAR. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAD COME ON AND OFF FOR MONTHS UNTIL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP FIXED IT 2 1/2 YRS AGO; THE LIGHT IS BACK ON AGAIN AND WAS TOLD I COULD NOT GET MY VAN INSPECTED WITH OUT IT FIXED. THIS IS A DEFECT WITH THE 2006 SIENNAS - THERE IS NO REASON THE AIR BAG LIGHTS SHOULD BE ON. THE SLIDING PASSENGER REAR DOOR STOPPED WORKING- DOOR WOULD NOT CLOSE - HAD TO TURN OFF ELECTRONIC SWITCH AND HAVE TO SLAM THE DOOR TO KEEP IT CLOSED. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD FOR PASSENGERS. TOYOTA HAS ISSUED A SERVICE CALL ON THIS BUT THERE IS SOMETHING DRASTICALLY WRONG WITH 2006 TOYOTA SIENNAS. ON 10/14/2011 I FILED A COMPLAINT WITH NHTSA ABOUT THIS AND IT TOOK ALMOST 2 YEARS TO ADDRESS THIS PROBLEM. RUN FLAT TIRES WORE OUT EARLY, REPLACED BUT HAD A LOT OF FLATS AND ADDING AIR TO TIRES WEEKLY. RUN FLAT RIMS WERE NOT TRUE AND HAD TO REPLACE RIMS AND TIRES . I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS VEHICLE.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ECM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE VEHICLE UNEXPECTEDLY INCREASED ACCELERATION. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN UPON DEPRESSING THE BRAKE. AFTER REAPPLYING THE BRAKE PEDAL AND ENGAGING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE THE SPEED RATE BEGAN TO REDUCE TO 50 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE ROAD WHERE THE GEAR LEVER WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY RECOMMENDED THE VEHICLE BE INSPECTED BY THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.

THE DRIVER-SIDE SEATBELT GOT STUCK AFTER BEING FULLY RETRACTED. AT THE TOP OF THE BELT, WHERE IT RETRACTS, THERE WAS A FOLD IN THE BELT AND IT GOT WEDGED INTO THE CURVE OF THE U-SHAPED HOUSING OF THE BELT. *TR I HAVE TRIED PULLING ON IT, MOVING THE ADJUSTABLE TRACK, USING PLIERS AND SCREWDRIVERS TO GET THE BELT TO UN-CINCH. I STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT LOOSE. *TR
