CABLE DRIVING THE SLIDING DOOR JAMS WITH DOOR ONLY 9" OPEN. OCCUPANTS COULD BE TRAPPED INSIDE VEHICLE. CABLE HAS TO ARE CUT TO OPEN THE DOOR COMPLETELY.
I PURCHASED MY MINIVAN WITH 70,000 MILES ON IT AND NEW TIRES. BY THE TIME I ROTATED THE FIRST TIME, THE FRONT TIRE ON THE INSIDE WAS STARTING TO WEAR DOWN FASTER THAN NORMAL. I HAD THE TIRES ROTATED IMMEDIATELY AND THEN CHECKED THE SUSPENSION AND ALIGNMENT. THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE ALIGNMENT IS OK. OVER THE NEXT 20,000 MILES AND 3 ROTATIONS LATER, ALL THE TIRES ARE WORN ON THE INSIDE DUE TO SOMETHING IN THE FRONT SUSPENSION/DESIGN AREA.
CABLES FOR BOTH AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS SNAPPED. THE DOORS ARE BOTH COMPLETELY UNUSABLE, AS THEY WILL NOT OPEN AT ALL. AS MY 8 YEAR OLD WAS TRYING TO GET OUT OF THE VEHICLE, THE DOOR STOPPED WORKING AND WOULD NO LONGER WORK. THE DRIVERS' SIDE DOOR CABLE SNAPPED LAST WEEK, AND THE RIGHT ONE, TODAY.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED WITH THE KEY REMOVED FROM THE IGNITION, A CHILD IN THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT LEVER FROM THE PARK POSITION TO REVERSE. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO ROLL BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A CRASH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER BUT THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 168,837.
TAKATA RECALL. TOYOTA SIENNA 2010. POWER SLIDING DOOR ON PASSENGER SIDE - THE CABLE FOR POWER DOOR OPERATION SNAPPED OUT OF NOWHERE. THE POWER FUNCTION NO LONGER WORKS AND I HAVE AN 18" CABLE HANGING OUT THE SIDE OF MY CAR NOW. CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD WITH 85,000 MILES AND ESTIMATE FOR REPAIR IS OVER $2,000. IT WAS PURCHASED AS CERTIFIED PREOWNED BUT WE WERE TOLD THE DOORS ARE NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY FOR THIS YEAR. I'M READING ONLINE OF MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE.
DRIVER SIDE DOOR CABLE SNAPS MAKING IT IMPOSSIBLE TO TOTALLY OPEN DOOR. WOULD BE DANGEROUS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY EXIT.
THE INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT STARTED MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND WHEN TURNING THE WHEEL AND DRIVING A LOW SPEEDS. ADDITIONALLY, THERE IS NOW PLAY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. SO MUCH PLAY THAT DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS FEELS UNSAFE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA SIENNA. WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE, THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS WERE DEACTIVATED EVEN THOUGH A 130 LB PASSENGER WAS SEATED IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AFTER SWITCHING PASSENGERS, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG OPERATED NORMALLY FOR APPROXIMATELY 20 MINUTES BEFORE THE MALFUNCTION RECURRED, ALTHOUGH THE PASSENGER SEAT WEIGHED APPROXIMATELY 213 LBS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
DRIVER SIDE POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE BROKE AFTER ONLY 6 YEARS AND 100,000 MILES. MADE IT IMPOSSIBLE TO OPEN DOOR AS CABLE WAS CAUGHT IN DOOR. CAR WAS STATIONARY.
MY VEHICLE IS 2010 TOYOTA SIENNA XLE AND HAVE 50,000 MILES. WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE ON HIGHWAY SUDDENLY CAR STOPPED ENGINE RAVS BUT CAR WONT MOVE. WE TOWED THE CAR TO DEALER AND DEALER SUGGESTED VAN NEEDS NEW TRANSMISSION AND WE CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATION AND THEY WONT COVER THIS UNDER WARRANTY.
AIRBAG INFLATOR NEEDS REPLACING. SLIDING DOOR COULD OPEN DURING CAR MOVEMENT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE INDEPENDENTLY ACCELERATED AND CRASHED INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED TWO OTHER TIMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS KEPT FOR OVER A MONTH, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,000. UPDATED 10/13/16*LJ
BOTH POWER DOORS BROKE THE SAME WAY. THE CABLE FRAYED AND WAS PULLED INTO THE DOOR BY THE MOTOR. THE DOORS WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL UNTIL SERVICED, WHICH CAUSED A SAFETY CONCERN! THE FIX WAS ESTIMATED AT $1,500 PER DOOR.
AT 102000 MILES LEFT POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE BROKE DURING NORMAL OPERATION. IN ITS BROKEN STATE DOOR ONLY OPENS MANUALLY ABOUT 7 ITO 8 INCHES AND ONLY WITH SOME FORCE. THE CABLE MAY HAVE BROKEN ON THE PREVIOUS CYCLING OF THE DOOR. THAT IS NOT KNOWN. THE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED WHEN UPON STOPPING TO EXIT THE DOOR. NOT KNOWING WHY THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, I PROCEEDED TO OPEN IT MANUALLY. DOOR SLID OPEN WITH A BIT OF FORCE REQUIRED THEN STOPPED. NO ADDITIONAL AMOUNT OF FORCE WOULD ALLOW IT TO OPEN FURTHER. THE SAFETY CONCERN IS: HAD PASSENGERS NEEDED TO ESCAPE RAPIDLY, AND NOT KNOWN THE CABLE WAS BROKEN, THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN BARRED FROM EXITING RAPIDLY FROM THE TWO ROWS OF SEATS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 TOYOTA SIENNA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEADLIGHT ASSEMBLY COVERS WERE FOGGY AND CREATED DULL ILLUMINATION AT A DISTANCE. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY HAD A PROCESS TO SPRAY THE HEADLIGHT COVERS AND MAKE THEM ULTRAVIOLET, BUT THERE WAS NO EXPLANATION AS TO WHAT CAUSED THE ISSUE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.
ABOUT 20 MINUTES AWAY FROM HOME WE HEARD SOME "GROWLING" AND "TICKING" NOISE FROM THE ENGINE. NO INSTRUMENT WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. AS WE PULLED INTO OUR STEEP DRIVEWAY, THE OIL PRESSURE LIGHT STARTED TO BLINK. WE SHUT THE ENGINE. UPON INSPECTION, THE OIL DIPSTICK APPEARED DRY. I ADDED ABOUT 4 QTS OF OIL, AND STARTED THE ENGINE. IT SOUNDED NORMAL, AND NO WARNING LIGHT WAS DISPLAYED. I BROUGHT THE CAR TO A LEVEL AREA AND CHECKED OIL AGAIN. I ADDED ANOTHER QUART - OIL WAS BETWEEN THE MARKS ON THE DIPSTICK. I NOTICED LIGHT DRIPPING FROM THE FRONT AREA OF THE ENGINE, NEAR THE OIL COOLER. I THEN DROVE THE CAR TO THE AUTO REPAIR SHOP (ABOUT 4 MILES AWAY). ENGINE SOUNDED OK, NO WARNING LIGHTS. NEXT DAY I WAS TOLD THAT THE OIL LINE TO THE OIL COOLER IS LEAKING, AND THERE'S DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE DUE TO RUNNING WITH NO OIL. I ASSUME THAT THE ENGINE OPERATED WITH NO OIL WHEN WE HEARD NOISES - BUT HOW COULD THE OIL LEAK OUT AND RUN THE ENGINE DRY FOR 15 MINUTES *BEFORE* THE LIGHT CAME ON? HOW COMMON IS THE PROBLEM OF THE OIL-COOLER HOSE FAILING? DOES THIS MODEL SHARE THE SAME ENGINE AS THE LEXUS RX350? IF SO - IS THE PROBLEM RELATED (I READ THAT MANY RX350 OWNERS COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS) ?
2010 SIENNA SPARE TIRE RECALL: MY SPARE TIRE COMPLETELY FELL OFF MY CAR WHEN I WAS DRIVING - NOT SURE IF IT CAUSED AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH BEHIND MY CAR. TOOK VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY APPLIED THE RECALL FOR THE SPARE TIRE CARRIER, BUT THEY GAVE ME MY VEHICLE BACK WITHOUT A SPARE TIRE. I HAVE BEEN DRIVING FOR 2 WEEKS WITH 4 KIDS IN MY CAR WITHOUT A SPARE TIRE. THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE, MADE WORSE BY INCOMPETENT DEALER PERSONNEL. I WAS TOLD I WOULD HAVE TO BUY A NEW SPARE TIRE. AFTER ESCALATING THE ISSUE THROUGH THE TOYOTA CALL CENTER, THEY ARE NOW OFFERING ME A USED SPARE TIRE AS A REPLACEMENT. REPLACEMENT SPARE TIRE SHOULD NOT BE CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY DUE TO CARRIER FAILURE, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT COULD HAVE CAUSED DEATH BEHIND MY CAR. RECOMMEND THAT NHTSA FORCE TOYOTA TO MAKE SPARE TIRE REPLACEMENT PART OF OFFICIAL RECALL OR EDUCATE DEALERS ON HOW TO AUTHORIZE IMMEDIATE REPLACEMENT.
THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I HAD TO REPLACE MY TRANSMISSION IN MY SIENNA. EACH TIME IT HAPPENED, I WAS ON VACATION. THE FIRST TIME I REPLACED IT WAS LESS THAN 2 YEARS AGO, APRIL 2014. THERE WAS AN ISSUE WITH THE CAR SHIFTING HARD AND HUMMING ON ACCELERATION. LUCKILY I MADE IT HOME AND WAS ABLE TO FIX IT. SPENT $1, 404.43 WHICH WAS 30% OF THE COST, TOYOTA PAID FOR 70% OF IT. NOW MARCH OF 2016, THE CAR LURCHED, WAS SMOCKING AND SLOWED DOWN WHILE I WAS ON VACATION IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD. LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO GET IT TO RIGHT OUTSIDE OF THE HOTEL ROOM. PAID TOWING TO GET THE CAR TO AN OVERNIGHT LOCATION, MIKE ERDMAN TOYOTA. UNFORTUNATELY, THEY WERE NOT ABLE TO FIX IT WITHIN THE WEEK THAT I WAS ON VACATION. I HAD TO COME HOME AND DRIVE BACK TO 224 MILES TO GET THE CAR. THIS TIME, I AM PAYING $3600.00. I SAW ANOTHER COMPLAINT SIMILAR TO MINE ON THIS SITE. UNFORTUNATELY, I WILL HAVE TO GET RID OF THE CAR BECAUSE I AM AFRAID FOR MY SAFETY. WHEN A CAR STALLS ON YOU ON THE TURNPIKE OR IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RODE, IT IS TIME TO CUT YOUR LOSES. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED BECAUSE MY FAMILY HAVE BEEN TOYOTA OWNERS BUT WILL NOW HAVE TO LOOK FOR A NEW COMPANY.

SUSPENSION SYSTEMS SPECIFICALLY SHOCKS AND STRUTS ARE WEARING OUT QUICKLY. DIVIDED OPINION BETWEEN MANY LOCAL MECHANICS ON THIS, SOME SUSPECT IT IS CAUSED DUE TO WEAR AND TEAR WHILE OTHERS THINK IT COULD BE DUE TO POSSIBLE MANUFACTURING ISSUES SPECIFICALLY FOR RUNNING IT ON A FULL LOAD - 8 PASSENGER VS 7 PASSENGER CONFIGURATION)
PASSENGER SIDE REAR POWER SLIDING DOOR STOPPED WORKING. DOOR MUST NOW BE OPENED MANUALLY CREATING A HAZARD FOR MY CHILDREN WHEN EXITING/ENTERING IN A BUSY AREA. THIS IS A WELL DOCUMENTED PROBLEM WITH THE SIENNA AND PRIOR MODEL YEARS HAVE BEEN COVERED FOR REPAIR OF THIS DEFECT UNDER A TSB BUT THEY REFUSE TO COVER THE 2010.
PUSHED THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE DRIVER'S SIDE AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOOR AND THE CABLE BROKE LEAVING THE DOOR STUCK HALF-OPEN AND HALF-CLOSED.
GRINDING NOISE FROM TRANSMISSION WHEN IN LOW GEAR FROM STOP. HAD DEFECTIVE X MISSION IN TWO OTHER 2010 TOYOTA AND RETURNED UNDER LEMON LAW. QUOTE FROM INDIVIDUAL NAT TOYOTA CORPORATE OFFICE IN 2010 STATED THEY WERE INCURRING DIFFICULTIES WITH TRANSMISSIONS IN THIS VEHICLE AT THE TIME. 3 RDE SIENNA APPEARED FINE UNTIL RECENTLEY AND DISCOVERED THAT THEY STATED TRANSMISSION FAILURE AND NEEDS REPLACING. MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER WERE TRAVELING ON OUR 2010 SIENNA ON 07/11/2015 (SAT) AND THE GEARS SEIZED UP WHEN THEY WERE TURNING INTO A BUSY 4-LANE ROAD. IN SPITE OF COMPLETE LOSS OF TRANSMISSION, DUE TO THE SHEER MOMENTUM OF THE VEHICLE, MY WIFE WAS ABLE TO DIRECT THE VEHICLE TO THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD. WHEN SHE CALLED ME, I ARRIVED TO SEE MY DAUGHTER CRYING AND STANDING ON THE SIDE WHILE MY WIFE WAS TRYING TO PUSH THE VAN FURTHER RIGHT WITH THE HELP OF AN OLD COUPLE WHO WERE EXTREMELY HELPFUL. LUCKILY, MY WIFE AND DAUGHTER ESCAPED WITH NO INJURIES (EXCEPT FOR A STIFF NECK AND BAD HEADACHE FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS FOR MY WIFE) BUT LEFT WITH A LIFE-LONG MEMORIES OF THIS PAINFUL EXPERIENCE. AFTER TOWING THE VEHICLE TO STEVENS CREEK TOYOTA, I WAS TOLD THAT THAT THE TRANSMISSION SYSTEM HAD COMPLETELY FAILED (METALLIC PARTS CHIPPED AND GROUND AS PER TECHNICIAN) AND HAD TO BE REPLACED WITH AN WHOOPING BILL OF $6K. CONSIDERING THAT BOTH OF US ARE OUR WORKING PARENTS, WE HAD TO PAINFULLY SWALLOW THE COST OF REPAIR AND MOVE ON WITH OUR LIVES UNTIL NOW WHEN I HAD TIME DURING THE END OF YEAR WHEN I WANTED TOYOTA AND ALL SIENNA OWNERS TO KNOW ABOUT OUR ORDEAL AND BE CAUTIONED ABOUT THEIR VEHICLES. MY BIGGEST COMPLAINTS: * WE TRUST OUR FAMILY MEMBERS LIVES IN THE HANDS OF REPUTED VEHICLE MANUFACTURES SUCH AS TOYOTA. WHEN THEIR VEHICLES DO NOT LIVE UP TO THEIR REPUTATION AND CAUSE MENTAL/PHYSICAL ANGUISH, IT IS DEFINITELY DISHEARTENING. * I PAID NEARLY $48K FOR THIS FULLY-LOADED 2010 SIENNA XLE LIMITED. A COMPLETE TRANSMISSION FAILURE AT 70K MILES AND $6K TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION IS COMPLETELY UNACCEPTABLE AND I FEEL RIPPED OFF! WE REALLY HOPE TOYOTA GET ITS ACT TOGETHER AND INVEST IN IMPROVING THE QUALITY OF CRITICAL SYSTEMS OF THEIR VEHICLES.

RECEIVED ANOTHER SAFETY RECALL NOTICE FOR A POTENTIAL EXCESSIVE CORROSION ON SPARE TIRE. STILL NO REMEDY. AS A TEMPORARY SOLUTION, TOYOTA WILL OFFER ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AT NO CHARGE SHOULD THERE BE ANY TIRE ISSUES. HOWEVER, NO PHONE NUMBER/CONTACT INFORMATION IS PROVIDED FOR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE ON THE NOTICE. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THIS WAS AN OVERSIGHT AND THEY READILY PROVIDED ME WITH A NUMBER FOR A NATIONAL SERVICE. I AM NOT EXPERIENCING ANY PROBLEMS BUT AM CURIOUS AS TO THE LACK OF TRANSPARENCY BY NOT INCLUDING THE PHONE NUMBER IN THE NOTICE. IT HAS NEVER BEEN PROVIDED ON THE PAST INTERIM NOTICES THAT I WAS ABLE TO FIND. ALSO, DO THEY EVER PLAN ON FIXING OR IS IT A CALCULATED BUSINESS DECISION NOT TO FIX GIVEN COST?
WHEN WE WENT TO OPEN THE POWER SLIDING SIDE DRIVERS DOOR..THE WIRE BROKE AND IT WOULD NOT OPEN ALL THE WAY. IT HAD TO BE FORCED CLOSED. THE WIRE THAT CONTROLS THE POWER DOOR HAD BROKE. TOYOTA SAID IT WOULD COST ABOUT $2500.00 TO FIX. WE USED THE OTHER BACK SIDE DOOR UNTIL THE WIRE ON IT BROKE ALSO. IT WAS ABLE TO BE USED MANUALLY. MY BROTHER-IN-LAW WAS ABLE TO GET THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR UNSTUCK SO WE CAN USE IT MANUALLY ALSO. CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY $5000.00 TO FIX POWER DOORS.
THE REAR PASSENGER SLIDING DOOR IS AUTOMATIC. THE DOOR MOTOR STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO OPEN THE DOOR AUTOMATICALLY. SUDDENLY, THE CABLE WIRE THAT IS INSIDE THE VEHICLE INTO THE DOOR TO OPERATE THE AUTOMATIC MECHANISM SNAPPED AND IS STICKING OUT OF THE AREA BELOW THE LAST REAR WINDOW OF THE VEHICLE AND NOW THE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN, EVEN UPON ATTEMPTING TO OPEN IT MANUALLY. *TR
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
BOTH REAR SHOCKS FAILED AND STARTED WHILE DRIVING (IN MOTION) IN CITY TRAFFIC. VEHICLE HAD 69,000 MILES AT THE TIME. PURCHASED NEW IN 11/2009. VEHICLE IS NOT USED TOW OR HAUL HEAVY LOADS. I WAS ADVISED THAT I HAD TO REPLACE MY STEERING RACK BECAUSE OF MULTIPLE LEAKS. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH QUITE A FEW PEOPLE INCLUDING MY TOYOTA SERVICE ADVISOR AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE TOYOTA STEERING RACKS FREQUENTLY FAIL BETWEEN 75K AND 90K AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THIS HAPPENS IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE 75K WARRANTY ENDS. ALSO, WHEN I DRIVE SPEEDS BETWEEN 50-70 MPH, AND LEVEL OUT THE SPEED, MY CAR PICKS UP SPEED WHEN I AM NOT INITIATING THE ACTION. *TR
I TOOK MY 2010 SIENNA IN FOR A 80000 MILE SERVICE, WAS TOLD THAT THE BOOTS AROUND STEERING RACK WAS IN BAD SHAPE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE STEERING NEEDED TO BE REPLACES AND THE POWER STEERING UNIT WOULD FLUSHING. I HAD EXPERIENCED NO STEERING PROBLEMS WITH MY CAR. THE CAR LESS THAN 77000 MILES. THE IS NO EVIDENCE OF OIL LEAKAGE. IS THIS TYPICAL FOR REPLACING THE STEERING RACK AT $1400? *TR
THE AUTOMATIC DOOR TO MY VAN STOPPED WORKING I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHERE I WAS TOLD THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THESE VEHICLES. I WAS TOLD THAT THE CABLE ON THE DOOR IS WHAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT YOU CAN'T PURCHASE THE CABLE ITSELF. THE DEALER EXPLAINED THAT I WOULD HAVE TO PURCHASE THE MOTOR BECAUSE IT'S A "PACKAGE" DEAL BUT IN REALITY I DIDN'T NEED THE MOTOR, THE MOTOR ON THE VAN WAS IN GOOD CONDITION. THEY WANTED TOO MUCH MONEY SO I HAD TO CHOOSE BETWEEN PURCHASING SOMETHING I REALLY DIDNT NEED TO HAVING TO MANUALLY OPEN/CLOSE MY DOOR.
POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLE SNAPPED ON 2010 SIENNA XLE. DUE TO THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS ON THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE, IN 2012 TOYOTA OFFERED A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR MODEL YEARS 2004-2007 ONLY. THEY SAID THAT THEY HADN'T YET RECEIVED ENOUGH COMPLAINTS ON MODEL YEARS 2008-2010 TO WARRANT AN EXTENSION FOR THESE YEARS. WHEN ASKED IF THE 2010 MODEL HAD BEEN CHANGED IN ANY WAY FOR THIS EXISTING PROBLEM THEY SAID NO. IF ENOUGH PEOPLE COMPLAIN TOYOTA WILL CONSIDER EXTENDING THEIR EXISTING WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FROM 2004-2007 TO 2004-2010. TOYOTA IS AWARE THAT THIS CABLE ASSEMBLY IS FAULTY ON 2008-2010 BUT HAVEN'T INCLUDED US IN THEIR "CUSTOMER SUPPORT PROGRAM" DUE TO THE FACT THAT THEY HAVEN'T RECEIVED ENOUGH COMPLAINTS. *TR
TOYOTA SIENNA 2010 MINIVAN ENGINE STALLS WHILE DRIVING. WHEN DRIVING ON HIGHWAY OR ON CITY ROADS, ENGINE STALLS AND LOOSES ENGINE POWER FOR A FEW SECONDS (SEEMINGLY HAPPENS WHEN SHIFTING GEARS) WHEN ACCELERATED OR DECELERATED. THE ENGINE BASICALLY STALLS DURING DRIVING AND MAY LEAD TO SUDDEN VEHICLE SLOWNESS IN MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE SUSPECTED PROBLEM ADVISED BY TOYOTA IS WITH TRANSMISSION AND THE ORIGINAL COST ESTIMATE WAS $5100 TO FIX THAT. LATER AFTER DISCUSSING WITH TOYOTA IT WAS LOWERED TO $3800 (APPROX) AND TOYOTA WARRANTY SUPPORT WAS READY TO PAY (ABSORB) $2000 AND $1800 TO BE PAID BY THE CUSTOMER. EVEN AFTER INITIAL REPAIR AND PAYMENT OF ($1800+TAX) $2166 THE VEHICLE STILL HAVE THE SAME SYMPTOMS AND ISSUES. PRESENTLY THE VEHICLE IS UNDER REPAIR WITH THE DEALER (FREMONT TOYOTA, CA). THE VEHICLE USE WAS NORMAL, REGULAR CITY/HIGHWAY USAGE, WELL MAINTAINED SINGLE OWNER. NOTHING HEAVY WAS TOWED AND USED IN ROUGH OR ABNORMAL CONDITIONS. IF POSSIBLE NTSB NEEDS TO: 1. TO LOOK INTO THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE AND SEE IF THERE ARE OTHER REPORTED PROBLEMS WITH SIENNA 2010 ENGINES. 2. TO INVESTIGATE WHY THIS VEHICLE HAVE THIS ISSUE WITHIN 46,847 MILES. 3. CAN MANUFACTURE BILLS THE ENTIRE COST OF REPAIR, SINCE THIS SEEMS A MAJOR DESIGN OR ENGINE ISSUE WITH THIS MODEL OF VEHICLE. 4. PASSENGER POWER SLIDING DOOR WAS CLOSING WHEN DOOR CABLE ALONG REAR SIDE WINDOW SNAPPED. DOOR WILL NO LONGER OPEN OR CLOSE, EVEN IN MANUAL MODE. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD NOT ALLOWING PASSENGERS TO EGRESS IN AN EMERGENCY. A DOOR MALFUNCTION SHOULD FAIL IN A SAFE MODE ALLOWING THE DOOR TO BE OPENED AND/OR CLOSED WHEN A FAILURE OCCURS. TOYOTA COVERED THIS REPAIR UP THRU 2007 MODEL YEAR BUT REFUSE TO COVER REPAIR ON SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEARS DISREGARDING MULTITUDE OF DEFECTIVE DOORS ON LATER MODELS INCLUDING MY 2010 MODEL. THIS IS A POOR DESIGN AND THE CONSUMER SHOULD NOT BE PENALIZED FOR A COMPANY NOT PROPERLY CORRECTING A DOCUMENTED DESIGN ISSUE. *TR
VERY SIMPLE. HIT THE BUTTON TO CLOSE THE REAR PASSAGE SIDE SLIDING DOOR, DOOR STARTED TO CLOSE AND CABLE SNAPPED. BROUGHT TO TOYOTA AND THEY SAID IT WAS NOT UNDER WARRANTY AND WOULD COST $1,500.00 TO FIX. TOLD THEM TO GET TO OPEN IN MANUAL AND LEAVE IT AT THAT AS WE DON'T HAVE $1,500.00. BOTH DUAL AUTOMATIC SLIDING DOORS ON OUR 2010 TOYOTA SIENNA HAVE FAILED WITHIN 3 MONTHS OF EACH OTHER. THE MECHANISM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE FAILED IN SEPTEMBER 2014 AND THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR FAILED IN DECEMBER 2014. ON THE LEFT SIDE IT SEEMS THE CABLE BROKE. WE CAN USE THE DOORS IN MANUAL MODE BUT ONLY FROM THE OUTSIDE. THE GREATER CONCERN IS THE SAFETY ISSUE WITH MY KIDS NOT BEING ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS FROM THE INSIDE. THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLES DON'T FUNCTION AT ALL - NOT EVEN IN MANUAL MODE. THERE SHOULD BE A REDUNDANT FUNCTION WHERE IF THE AUTOMATIC DOORS FAIL KIDS DON'T BECOME TRAPPED. I AM UNABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR MANUALLY MORE THAN 1 FOOT. TOYOTA ISSUED A WARRANTY POLICY BULLETIN (POL 12-02) CONCERNING POWER SLIDING DOOR CABLES FOR 2004 - 2007 SIENNA VEHICLES. UNDER THE SAME BULLETIN, THEY INCLUDED REAR SLIDING DOOR LATCH ASSEMBLIES ON CERTAIN 2004 - 2010 SIENNA VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE IS SPECIFICALLY LISTED IN THE VIN RANGE FOR 2010, BUT TOYOTA SAYS THE CABLE IS NOT COVERED. TOYOTA EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR 9 YEARS OR 120,000 MILES. SEEMS TO ME THERE IS SOME ISSUE RECOGNIZED BY TOYOTA CONCERNING THE DOOR CABLES AND DOORS. I HAVE NO WAY OF USING THAT DOOR AS AN EGRESS POINT.
