PREVIOUS OWNER REMOVED DRIVER AIRBAG AND SEAT BELT HARNESS (WEBBING ONLY) DUE TO RECALLS. THE PART THAT CAUSED THE RECALL FOR THE SEAT BELT IS STILL ATTACHED TO THE VEHICLE. LOCAL DEALERSHIP WILL NOT HONOR RECALL. CONTACTED TOYOTA (CASE #[XXX]) AND THEY TOO WILL NOT HONOR THE RECALL. WHEN INSPECTING THE LEAF SPRING REPLACEMENT FROM A RECALL, FOUND THE FRAME CORRODED TO THE POINT THAT IT WILL FAIL. (SEE PHOTO). TOYOTA HAD A RECALL ON THESE FRAMES AND THIS TRUCK FELL UNDER THE GUIDELINES.WHEN I CONTACTED TOYOTA THEY SAID THIS WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND HAD EXPIRED.SAID THEY SENT NOTIFICATION WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED. *TR
THIS VEHICLE IS COVERED IN THE TOYOTA RUSTY FRAME LAWSUIT. AS SUCH, IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY 2 DIFFERENT DEALERS AND DEEMED NOT TO NEED A FRAME REPLACEMENT BOTH TIMES. IT WAS TREATED WITH CRC. ITS LAST INSPECTION WAS IN NOVEMBER OF 2018. ON SUNDAY, MAY 17TH, 2020, THE FRAME BROKE AT THE FRONT CROSS-MEMBER CAUSING THE LEFT FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM TO SEPARATE AND STEERING THE VEHICLE/CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE BECAME NEAR IMPOSSIBLE. FORTUNATELY FOR ME, THIS HAPPENED IN A PARKING LOT BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND TURNING LEFT (IN REVERSE AT LOW SPEED) AFTER A FULL 2 WEEKS OF DRIVING IN THE MOUNTAINS OF WEST VIRGINIA. I QUESTION ALL INSPECTIONS OF FRAMES BEING PERFORMED WITHIN THE TOYOTA DEALER NETWORK AND HOPE THAT NOBODY HAS THIS FAILURE WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING AT SPEED AS THE RESULTS WILL BE CATASTROPHIC. *TR
EXCESSIVE CORROSION AND RUSTED THROUGH FRAME THAT IS UNABLE TO SUPPORT WEIGHT OF VEHICLE. HAD A BRAKE LINE BUST DUE TO BEING RUSTED OR CORRODED OUT. ALSO SUSPENSION SHOWS EXCESSIVE RUST AND CORROSION. COOLING LINES CORRODED. POWER STEERING LINES CORRODED. TRANSMISSION LINES CORRODED. ANY METAL LINE IS THAT'S ATTACHED TO THIS VEHICLE ARE CORRODED. AND ALL BRACKETS AND HARDWARE ATTACHED TO FRAME AND EVEN THE METAL PULLEYS ALL EXCESSIVELY CORRODED.
STEERING BECAME VERY STIFF WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN YESTERDAY. UPON MAKING A RIGHT TURN AT A FAMILIAR INTERSECTION, IT BECAME DIFFICULT TO MAKE THE TURN DUE TO VERY STIFF STEERING. THE FRONT END OF MY TRUCK CAME VERY CLOSE TO A VEHICLE COMING INTO THE INTERSECTION FROM THE STREET I WAS TURNING INTO, AND THEN THE USUAL RETURN OF MY WHEELS TO STRAIGHT AHEAD DID NOT OCCUR AS EXPECTED, AND I HAD TO QUICKLY FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL BACK BEFORE I RAN UP OVER THE CURB ON MY RIGHT. LUCKILY THE CAR COMING INTO THE INTERSECTION HAD BEEN FAR ENOUGH BACK FROM THE INTERSECTION THAT WE DID NOT COLLIDE, AND IF I HAD NOT FORCED THE STEERING WHEEL BACK AT THE END OF THE TURN I MAY HAVE HIT PEDESTRIANS ON THE SIDEWALK. UPON INVESTIGATING THIS PROBLEM WITH A MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE INCIDENT (YESTERDAY AFTERNOON) AND AT ONLINE FORUMS, THE MOST LIKELY CAUSE SEEMED TO BE THE U-JOINT ON THE LOWER INTERMEDIATE SHAFT OF THE STEERING COLUMN DOWN JUST BEFORE THE STEERING GEAR, JUST INSIDE THE LEFT FRONT WHEEL. PER SOME ONLINE FORUM ADVICE, I USED PENETRATING OIL ON THAT U-JOINT TO LOOSEN IT, WITH GOOD RESULTS (STIFFNESS IS NOW GONE). BUT THIS SEEMS MOST LIKELY TO BE A TEMPORARY FIX. I DOUBT THAT LOOSENING THE U-JOINT TODAY WILL KEEP IT FROM A REPEAT PERFORMANCE AT SOME UNKNOWN AND UNPREDICTABLE TIME. CLEARLY THIS COULD CAUSE ACCIDENTS, AND PER ONLINE FORUMS, IT HAS APPARENTLY BEEN A KNOWN ISSUE FOR A WHILE. THERE ARE NO GREASE FITTINGS ON THE U-JOINT, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO PUT A MORE PERMANENT LUBRICANT (GREASE) INTO THE BEARINGS OF THE U-JOINT. ALSO, THE U-JOINT IN QUESTION IS NOT PROTECTED BY A RUBBER BOOT, AND IS COMPLETELY EXPOSED TO ALL THE WATER, DIRT, AND SALT THAT SPLASHES UP WHILE DRIVING. OTHERS HAVE NOTED THAT SPRAYING WITH PENETRATING OIL OR THE LIKE IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX, AND THE STIFF STEERING PROBLEM RETURNS AFTER A TIME, MAKING AN ACCIDENT MUCH MORE LIKELY.
WHEN PRESSING THE BREAK PEDAL TO STOP THE TRUCK, THE BREAK PEDAL WILL GO STRAIGHT TO THE FLOOR. THE BREAKS WILL NOT ENGAGE THE TRUCK WILL NOT STOP. PUMPING THE BREAKS DOES NOT BRING THE BREAKS BACK. NO DASHBOARD LIGHT COME ON. THE BREAKS WILL BE GONE FOR ANY LENGTH OF TIME AND THEN WILL START WORKING AGAIN. STOPPING THE TRUCK AND TURNING IT ON AND OFF WILL NOT BRING THE BREAKS BACK. ONLY WAY TO STOP THE TRUCK WHEN THE BREAKS GO OUT IS WITH THE PARKING BREAK. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM SOMETIMES THEY WORK SOMETIMES THEY DON'T. WHEN THE BREAKS WOULD GO OUT IT WAS ALWAYS AT SPEEDS OVER 40MPH AND ON HIGHWAYS COUNTRY ROADS AND ALWAYS ON A RETURN TRIP AFTER THE CAR HAD BEEN TURNED OFF ONCE. AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT TOOK IT TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP THEY SAID IT WAS BAD FRONT BREAKS AND FRONT LEFT BEARING, REPLACED BOTH TOOK IT HOME TWO WEEKS LATER BREAKS WENT OUT AGAIN ON HIGHWAY WHILE TRYING TO STOP AT A LIGHT, BROUGHT IT BACK TO TOYOTA DEALERSHIP, BREAKS WERE STILL OUT. THEY SAID NOTHING WAS WRONG EXCEPT I HEATED UP MY FRONT BREAKS WHILE TRYING TO STOP, AND THAT THEY WERE NOW COOL AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE THE PROBLEM AGAIN. I ASKED THEM TO CHECK ALL THE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE BREAKING SYSTEM THEY SAID THEY WERE FINE. AT NO TIME DID ANY LIGHT COME ON ON THE DASHBOARD. I PICKED IT UP FROM DEALERSHIP THERE WAS NO BREAKS ON THE TRUCK. SO I TOWED HOME. HAD BREAK BOOSTER AND CHECK VALVE REPLACED RE-FLUSHED BREAKS. PROBLEM ACCURED AGAIN, TOOK IT TO LOCAL MECHANIC WHO BELIEVES IT'S THE ABS MODULAR. HAVE BEEN TRYING TO REPLACE ABS MODULAR SINCE MAY OF 2020, TOYOTA SAYS THERE IS A BACKORDER OF ABS SYSTEMS CAN NOT GIVE AN ETA OF WHEN THEY WILL BE BACK IN STOCK.THE PROBLEM MIGHT BE UNKNOWN BUT THE MECHANIC IS PRETTY SURE IT IS THE ABS MODULAR.
MY 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA WAS RECALLED DUE TO TOYOTA'S FRAME RUST AND CORROSION ISSUE. AFTER NOTIFICATION, JULY 2015, I BROUGHT MY CAR TO TOYOTA OF WALLINGFORD (DEALER) AS INSTRUCTED IN THE RECALL NOTICE FOR A FRAME INSPECTION. THE DEALER INSPECTED THE TRUCK FRAME AND SAID IT WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR A NEW FRAME AS THE FRAME PASSED THEIR INSPECTION. I DISPUTED THIS BECAUSE I WAS ABLE TO PUSH MY FINGER THROUGH PARTS OF THE FRAME. THEY INSISTED THAT THE INTEGRITY WAS SOUND. THEIR RECOMMENDATION WAS TO SPRAY THE CAR WITH A CORROSION RESISTANT COVERING (CRC). AFTER SOME DEBATE I TOOK THEIR RECOMMENDATION AND AUTHORIZED THE WORK. THE CRC WAS A THICK BLACK GEL THAT COVERED THE FRAME, SO RUST, ROT AND DETERIORATION WAS COMPLETELY HIDDEN. IN RETROSPECT, I BELIEVE THEY INTENTIONALLY COVERED THE RUST SO ISSUES COULD NOT BE DETECTED AND RE-INSPECTION DID NOT OCCUR. RECENTLY I HAD TO REPLACE THE TIRES ON THE TRUCK. WHEN THE TIRE DEALER PUT THE TRUCK ON THE LIFT HE NOTICED THE FRAME WAS BOWING AND LARGE PIECES OF THE FRAME WERE MISSING. THE CRC WAS STILL COVERING THE RUST BUT LARGE HOLES IN THE FRAME WERE DETECTED. THE TIRE SPECIALIST WOULD NOT WORK ON THE TRUCK DUE TO THE UNSTABLE FRAME, SO I QUICKLY CALLED THE TOYOTA DEALER TO RE-INSPECT THE FRAME. THEY CONCLUDED THAT THE FRAME WAS ROTTED AND NEED TO BE REPLACED, BUT INFORMED ME THAT THE DEADLINE UNDER THE RECALL HAD JUST PASSED ON 1/31/19. THEY WOULD NOT COVER ANY REPAIRS ALTHOUGH I FOLLOWED EVERY STEP AND ENDURED EVERY INCONVENIENCE FOR A ROT ISSUE THAT THEY WERE ALWAYS RESPONSIBLE FOR. UNSATISFIED WITH THE DEALER'S RESPONSE, I CONTACTED TOYOTA DIRECTLY AND THEY REAFFIRMED THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE FRAME. TOYOTA DID NOT RESOLVE ALL ISSUES RELATED TO THEIR FAULTY FRAMES. THEY BRILLIANTLY CAME UP WITH A SOLUTION THAT HID THE RUST AND ROT AND SAVED THE COMPANY MILLIONS BY MASKING THE ISSUE AND NOT REPLACING THE BAD FRAMES.
THE SUBJECT VEHICLES' REAR SUSPENSION SYSTEM CONTAINS LEAF SPRINGS THAT ARE CONSTRUCTED OF EITHER THREE OR FOUR LEAVES. THERE IS A POSSIBILITY THAT A LEAF COULD FRACTURE DUE TO STRESS AND CORROSION. IF THIS OCCURS AND THE VEHICLE CONTINUES TO BE OPERATED, THE BROKEN LEAF COULD MOVE OUT OF POSITION AND CONTACT SURROUNDING COMPONENTS, INCLUDING THE FUEL TANK. SAFETY RISK: IF THE BROKEN LEAF CONTACTS THE FUEL TANK REPEATEDLY, IT COULD PUNCTURE THE TANK AND CAUSE A FUEL LEAK. IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, THIS COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. REMEDY: TOYOTA WILL REPLACE THE LEAF SPRINGS WITH NEWLY DESIGNED ONES. IT HAS BEEN REPAIRED I NEED TO HAVE IT SHIPPED OFF ISLAND ASAP
BODY FRAME PERFORATION CAUSED BY RUST AFTER REMEDIATION BY TOYOTA PURSUANT TO THE TERMS OF A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT.
TOYOTA WAS FORCED TO GIVE A WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT FOR FRAMES ON A NUMBER OF TRUCKS BECAUSE OF RUST. THE WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED BUT I SILL HAVE THE OLD RUST PRONE FRAME. THIS SHOULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL THAT DOES NOT EXPIRE, WHAT HAPPENS TO ME DOWN THE ROAD WHEN MY FRAME FAILS? SINCE THE PROBLEM WILL NOT GO AWAY HOW IS THE WARRANTY LIMITED? THIS IS NOT RIGHT, HOW CAN I RESELL A TRUCK THAT HAS A FAULTY FRAME? I AM UPSET THEY GOT AWAY WITH OUT A RECALL.
THE ENTIRE FRAME OF THIS GARAGE KEPT TRUCK IS COMPLETELY RUSTED THOUGH. THIS TRUCK AS ONLY 61,000 MILES ON IT & IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THE REAR LEAF SPRING MOUNTS ARE BROKEN & HAVE PUNCTURED THE GAS TANK. THE ELECTRICAL WIRING TO DO WITH THE SAFETY NEUTRAL SWITCH, WHICH IS TIED INTO THE ENTIRE FROM WIRING HARNESS HAS CAUGHT FIRE TWICE. TOYOTA HAS BEEN NOTIFIED ABOUT ALL OF THIS, IN DETAIL, & THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT MY OWN OR ANYONE ELSE'S SAFETY. THERE ISN'T A SCRATCH ON THIS TRUCK & HAS REALLY LOW MILES YET IS SO UNSAFE TO USE BECAUSE OF POOR CONSTRUCTION ON TOYOTA'S PART.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING A ROUTINE INSPECTION AT MAUI TOYOTA (320 HANA HWY, KAHULUI, HI 96732, (808) 877-2781), THE MECHANIC NOTICED RUST ON THE CHASSIS AND A HOLE IN THE FRAME. THE CONTACT HAD TO SIGN A WAIVER. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND IN DRIVABLE CONDITION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,895. *DT*JB
ON DECEMBER 1, 2019 I WAS BACKING INTO A GAS STATION FILL UP SPOT. AS I LET OFF THE GAS TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THE TRUCK REVVED UP AND STARTED ACCELERATING IN REVERSE. I APPLIED AS MUCH PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AS POSSIBLE ONLY TO CONTINUE ACCELERATING IN REVERSE. I COULD FILL THE TRUCK'S BRAKES ATTEMPTING TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT THE TRUCK'S BACK TIRES ARE SQUEALING OVER POWERING THE BRAKES. I FINALLY COME TO A STOP ON ONE OF THE POLES THAT PROTECTS THE GAS PUMPS AFTER HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. I HAVE CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SENT A THIRD PARTY COMPANY TO PULL THE INFORMATION FROM THE EVENT DATA RECORDER. I WAS TOLD I WOULD GET A REPORT OVER WHAT THEY SAID HAPPENED WITHIN 30 DAYS AFTER THE THIRD PARTY HAS INSPECTED THE VEHICLE. IT HAS NOW BEEN 37 DAYS AND TOYOTA IS REFUSING TO GIVE ME ANY INFORMATION. I HAVE DONE ALL THE RECALLS THAT HAVE BEEN ISSUED ON THE 2006 TACOMA. ON ONE RECALL THEY INSTALLED AN OVERRIDE THAT WOULD HAVE DECREASED ACCELERATION IN THE EVENT THAT BOTH THE BRAKE AND GAS WERE BEING DEPRESSED AT THE SAME TIME. THIS DID NOT WORK IN MY ACCIDENT. I HAVE NOTICED ON THIS SITE THAT THERE ARE 144 OTHER COMPLAINTS ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL OF TRUCK OF THE SAME THING OCCURRING, YET THAT IS NOT ENOUGH TO SAY THAT THE TRUCK IS UNSAFE? I AM CONVINCED THAT THE TRUCK IS A DANGER AND TOYOTA IS NOT RESPONDING AND HAVE MISSED THE DEADLINE OF GETTING ME THE REPORT WITHIN 30 DAYS.

THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION) AND THE BODY FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 99,985.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE CONTACT COULD SMELL SMOKE NEAR THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT OBSERVED FLAMES AROUND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE, THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE HOME TO EXTINGUISH IT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THE FIRE AND POLICE DEPARTMENTS WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE CONTACT CALLED PAT LOBB'S TOYOTA OF MCKINNEY (LOCATED AT 3350 S CENTRAL EXPY, MCKINNEY, TX 75070, (214) 544-8696) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 137,816.
WHEN TOYOTA RECALLED TAKOMA TRUCKS FOR FRAME RUST I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND WAS TOLD IT DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH RUST TO QUALIFY. NOW WHEN I HAD IT CHECKED OU THE MECHANIC SAID IT ISN'T SAFE TO DRIVE ANY MORE. WHEN I COMPLAINED TO TOYTA CUSTOMER SERVICE THEY SAID THE TIME FOR REPLACING THE FRAMES WAS OVER. THE TRUCK IS STILL DANGEROUS TO DRIVE AND I FEEL THE FRAME SHOULD BE REPLACED.
THERE WAS A RECALL FOR FRAME RUST ON TACOMA TRUCKS BETWEEN 2005-2010. MY TRUCK WAS AFFECTED WITH THIS RECALL AND I TOOK IT TO A TOYOTA DEALER IN DEC 2014 FOR EVALUATION. THE DEALER SAID THE FRAME WAS FINE BUT THEY APPLIED A CORROSION PROTECTION SPRAY AND SAID THAT WOULD PROTECT THE FRAME. IN AUGUST 2019, WE NOTICE A GOOD BIT OF RUST ON THE FRAME AND TOOK IT TO A DIFFERENT TOYOTA DEALER AND THEY SAID THERE'S A LOT OF RUST AND THE FRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH. IN 2014 WHEN TREATED AS A SOLUTION TO THE RECALL, THE TRUCK HAD 56,853 MILES ON IT. IN AUGUST 2019 WHEN WE TOOK IT IN FOR EVALUATION, THE TRUCK HAD 75,239 MILES ON IT. SINCE 2014, WE ONLY PUT 19,092 MILES ON THE TRUCK. ATTACHED IS SOME PHOTO'S OF THE FRAME AND 1 OF THE TRUCK TO SHOW THE CONDITION OF THE VEHICLE. MY COMPLAINT IS WE DID WHAT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN THE RECALL WAS ACTIVE AND WE WERE TOLD THE CORROSION PROTECTION SPRAY WOULD PROTECT THE FRAME BUT NOW I HAVE A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE FRAME IS RUSTED THROUGH AND PER THE DEALER THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THERE'S NO OPEN PROGRAM. IF PROTECTED, WHY DID THE FRAME RUST THROUGH WITH VERY LITTLE MILES ON IT. I'M GOING USE THE DATE AS AUGUST 7, 2019 SINCE THAT'S WHEN THE DEALER SAID THE FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH.
FRAME RUST. TRUCK WAS TREATED DURING THE RECALL IN DEC 2014 AND DEALER STATED IT WOULD BE FINE. 5 YEARS AND 19,000 MILES LATER, THE FRAME IS TOTALLY RUSTED THROUGH. CONTACTED TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO BECAUSE THE WARRANTY EXPIRED. VEHICLE WAS TREATED AND IF TREATED CORRECTLY IT SHOULD HAVE LASTED LONGER THAN 5 YEARS.
MY TACOMA IS A LEASURE/WORK VEHICLE, GARAGED AND MAINTAINED WITH 65K MILES. WITHIN THIS MONTH I HAD A MAIN EXHUAST HANGER THAT WAS WELDED TO THE FRAME BREAK AWAY AND TAKE A LARGE PART OF THE FRAME WITH IT, THEN THANKS TO MY WIFE SHE NOTICED AN ODDITY UNDER THE BED AND IT WAS THAT 2 OF MY GAS TANK STRAPS HAD BROKEN. I INFORMED THE LOCAL DEALER (KOLAR) AND TOYOTA, THEY RESPONDED BY SAYING THAT DUE TO ITS ADVANCED YEARS, THEY WOULD NOT HELP AND ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE. IF I HAD BEEN TRAVELING DOWN I35 TO THE CITIES AT 85 MPH AND THE TANK CAME OFF, AND IT STRUCK MY OR ANOTHER VEHICLE THIS NOTE WOULD BE WORDED VERY DIFFERENTLY. I WILL PROVIDE PHOTOS, BUT I AM YET TO GET MY VEHICLE RELEASED FROM TOYOTA, NOT SURE HOW THAT WORKS, THEY WILL NOT RELEASE IT TO ME UNTIL IT IS SAFE AND THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COSTS.
TRUCK HAD EXCELERATOR TO FULL ON 3 OCCASIONS AND ON EACH EPISODE I BARELY AVOIDED DEATH, THESE ARE EXTREME EPISODES , THE VEHICLE WENT FULL BLAST FROM IDLE , IT HAD HAPPENED 3 TIMES

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 262,000.

The contact stated while having the vehicle inspected by an independent mechanic, he was informed that there was severe corrosion to the sub-frame of the vehicle. Prior to the discovery, the contact had taken the vehicle to the dealer where the frame was sprayed with a rust inhibitor to prevent corrosion. Over the years, the contact had taken the vehicle back to the same dealer on multiple occasions to have the frame checked. On each visit, the contact was informed that the sub-frame was in good shape. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed him that the vehicle was out of warranty but offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 109,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED; THEREFORE, THEY COULD NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
DEALER DID NOT APPLY THE CORROSION RESISTANT COMPOUND TO THE FRAME DURING THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PERIOD AS I REQUESTED. THEY DID NOT NOTIFY ME WHEN THEY WERE CAPABLE OF DOING SO UNTIL AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED.AS A RESULT DURING THE WARRANTY PERIOD, THE FRAME DEVELOPED MAJOR RUST PERFORATION RESULTING IN FRAME CRACKING.AT THAT POINT THE VEHICLE WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.THE DEALER ALSO WOULD NOT REPLACE THE FRAME AS PER THE WARRANTY ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM. I MADE NO PROGRESS WITH EAST MADISON TOYOTA OR TOYOTA CORPORATE OVER THIS ISSUE.I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA CORPORATE, THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU AND ALSO CONTACTED DATCP. I AM BASICALLY GETTING NOWHERE WITH THIS ISSUE AND AM LEFT WITH A VEHICLE SITTING IN THE BACKYARD USELESS.IF THEY KNOW THE FRAME IS FAULTY WHY DON'T THEY FIX IT ? I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR KILLED SOMEONE ELSE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WITH THIS DANGEROUS PROBLEM.

REAR LEAF SPRING, RECALL: 14V-604. ON JULY 10TH OF 2016 I MADE A CALL TO ELK GROVE TOYOTA IN REGARDS TO THE RECALL. THE SERVICE WRITER ASK ME IF MY TRUCK HAD A LEVEL KIT INSTALLED ? I TOLD HIM YES, 2'. HE TOLD ME IT VOIDED THE RECALL. I DID SONE RESEARCH AND FOUND MANY CUSTOMERS HAD THE SAME SITUATION, BUT OTHERS DID NOT. THEIR DEALERSHIP REPLACED AND TOOK CARE OF THE RECALL EVEN WITH A LEVEL KIT INSTALLED. IN DIFFERENT PARTS OF THE STATES AND COUNTRY. I CALLED AGAIN ON 3/25/19 TO ELK GROVE TOYOTA AGAIN AND WAS TOLD THE SAME. MY RECALL IS VOID BECAUSE OF THE LEVEL KIT. THE DEALERSHIP IS IN ELK GROVE, CA. WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD AROUND 112,000 MILES ON IT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND IT EXPERIENCED IRREGULARITIES WITH REGARD TO SHIFTING. THE CODE WAS RAN AND THE SHIFT SOLENOID WAS THE ISSUE. A NEW TRANSMISSION WAS RECOMMENDED. WE WERE NOT INFORMED OF THIS WHEN WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE SECOND HAND. APPROXIMATELY A YEAR LATER THE SAME THING HAPPENED WITH THE SHIFTING AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON. UNFORTUNATELY BY THE TIME WE TOOK IT TO A CERTIFIED TOYOTA DEALER THE LIGHT WAS OFF AND IT WAS RUNNING SMOOTHLY. THE INCONSISTENCY OF THE ISSUE IS FRUSTRATING BECAUSE WE DON'T KNOW THE ACTUAL ISSUE AND IF THE VEHICLE CAN BE TRUSTED. THE CERTIFIED DEALER RECOMMENDS A COSTLY TRANSMISSION REPLACEMENT WITHOUT BEING ABLE TO VERIFY THE ISSUE.
IN NOV./2016 MY TACOMA FRAME WAS REPLACED. AT THAT TIME THE REAR BUMPER AND TRAILER HITCH WERE NOT REPLACED. TODAY I WAS INSPECTING MY TRAILER HITCH AND BUMPER AND FOUND THE BUMPER TO BE DELAMINATING METAL.
2006 TACOMA 120,000 MILES IS LEAKING ANTIFREEZE INTO THE ENGINE. PERSONAL MECHANICS SMELLED BURNING ANTIFREEZE COMING FROM THE EXHAUST AND SAW IT LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 1812100777. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.

WHY DID I NOT RECEIVED ANY RECALL NOTICE ON THIS. NOT SURE IF THE VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE CONSIDERING THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED LIGHT IS ON OR IF THIS WILL AFFECT THE AIRBAG DELOYMENT IF NEEDED. ONCE THE OPERATION OF THE VEHICLE HAS CEASED AND THE TEMPERATURE AND THE VEHICLE COOL DOWN NORMAL FUNCTION RETURNS. AND RESEARCHING ONLINE THIS IS A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH THESE TRUCKS AND ALSO VERY DANGEROUS THERE SHOULD HAVE BEEN SOME KIND OF PROTECTION OVER THE SMALL U JOINT IN THE STEERING SHAFT SPRAYING IT WITH PENETRATING OIL IS ONLY A TEMPORARY FIX UNFORTUNATELY THIS IS A $500 REPAIR AND WHO KNOWS HOW LONG IT WILL LAST BEING UNPROTECTED ONCE AGAIN
LOWER INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT U JOINT SEIZED. IT IS SMALL AND EXPOSED TO THE ELEMENTS, AND THERE IS NO PROTECTIVE COVERING. IT IS A DANGEROUS PIECE TO HAVE FAIL. MANY OTHER TACOMA OWNERS OF THE SAME MODEL YEARS EXPERIENCE THIS PROBLEM.
