AFTER DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY FOR A FEW MINUTES AT ~70 MPH, THE ABS LIGHT RUN RED ON. WHEN THE LIGHT TURNED ON THE COMPUTER THOUGHT THE CAR WAS IN A BAD SITUATION AND LOCKED THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS CAUSED THE BRAKES TO NOT FUNCTION AND MADE THE CAR ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STOP. WHENEVER THE CAR WAS ABLE TO BE SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 19 MPH, THE LIGHT WOULD TURN OFF AND THE BRAKES WOULD START TO FUNCTION NORMALLY. THIS HAPPENED ONCE A WEEK FOR 3 WEEKS IN 2015 AND AGAIN IN FEBRUARY OF 2016. IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN APRIL 2016. THIS PROBLEM DID NOT HAPPEN AT LOW SPEED AND IT WOULD NOT HAPPEN TWICE IN THE SAME DAY, EVEN DURING THE SAME CONDITIONS. I WENT TO WOLFCHASE TOYOTA TO FIX THE PROBLEM. THEY DECIDED NOT TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I WENT TO PRINCIPAL TOYOTA AND THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THE PROBLEM BEFORE. THEY SAID THAT THEY COULD RESET THE COMPUTER OR PUT IN A NEW ONE ($3000). THEY RESET IT AND FOR THE PAST FEW MONTHS IT HAS WORKED.

VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I PURCHASED A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA FROM BERNARDI TOYOTA IN FRAMINGHAM, MA IN DECEMBER OF 2008. TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, USA, INC. ISSUED A SERVICE CAMPAIGN TO INSPECT AND REPAIR THE FRAMES OF 2007 TOYOTA TACOMAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT WHICH RESULTED IN CORROSION TO THE VEHICLES FRAME. I BROUGHT MY TOYOTA TACOMA IN FOR INSPECTION AT BERNARDI TOYOTA AND THE FRAME DID NOT HAVE A HOLE IN IT. THEREFORE, THE FRAME WAS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT, RATHER IT WAS ONLY ELIGIBLE TO BE SPRAYED WITH A COATING THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO PREVENT CORROSION. IN MARCH OF 2016, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FOR A DEFECT IN THE MANUFACTURING OF THE VEHICLES LEAF SPRINGS (ALSO CORROSION RELATED). I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE IN FOR THE RECALL AND BERNARDI TOYOTA NOTICED A HOLE IN THE FRAME. BERNARDI CONTACTED TOYOTA CORPORATE TO REPLACE THE FRAME; HOWEVER, WAS REFUSED. I CONTACTED TOYOTA AS WELL AND THEY ALSO REFUSED TO REPLACE THE FRAME WITH A KNOWN MANUFACTURER DEFECT, DESPITE REPLACING FRAMES FOR OTHER CUSTOMERS. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THE SPRAY APPLIED TO THE FRAME DID NOT WORK TO PREVENT FURTHER CORROSION. TOYOTA REPLACED THE FRAME ON TRUCKS WITH HOLES IN THE FRAME SIMILAR TO MINE, BUT REFUSES TO REPLACE THE FRAME ON MY TRUCK EVEN THOUGH THE PROBLEM IS DIRECTLY CORROSION RELATED AND THE SPRAY THEY APPLIED DID NOT PREVENT THE FRAME FROM RUSTING THROUGH. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT WHICH WAS NOT SUFFICIENTLY ADDRESSED BY TOYOTA. TOYOTA SHOULD PROVIDE ME WITH AN EQUAL REMEDY THAT THEY PROVIDED TO OTHER TOYOTA TACOMA OWNERS AND THAT IS A FRAME REPLACEMENT.
I PURCHASED A NEW 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA (VIN # [XXX]) FROM BOCH TOYOTA OF NORWOOD MA. IT CURRENTLY HAS 44,836 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. IN JULY 2014 TOYOTA HAS A SAFETY RECALL FOR CORROSION OF FRAMES ON VEHICLES LIKE MINE. AT THAT TIME THEY ONLY REMOVED LOOSE RUST AND APPLIED SOME KIND OF RUST PROOFING. ON MARCH 25, 2016 I TOOK MY TRUCK IN FOR ANOTHER RECALL. THIS RECALL IS FOR CORROSION OF LEAF SPRINGS.BOTH LEAF SPRINGS WERE REPLACED. THE MANAGER SAID THEY HAD FOUND CORROSION DAMAGE TO THE FRAME OF MY TRUCK, INCLUDING A RUST THROUGH OR CRACK IN AN AREA BELOW THE PASSENGER SIDE DOOR. HE SAID THE FRAME SHOULD BE REPLACED AND I SHOULD CONTACT TOYOTA, BECAUSE THEY HAVE REPLACED SUCH FRAMES UNDER THE TERMS OF THE FRAME CORROSION RECALL. I CONTACTED TOYOTA. MY CASE # IS [XXX]. TOYOTA SAID THE FRAME RECALL ENDED IN JULY OF 2014, AND SINCE THE DAMAGE WAS NOT NOTED UNTIL LATER, THEN IT WAS NOT COVERED. MY COMPLAINT IS: ?THIS PROBLEM IS NOT CAUSED BY NORMAL USE, BUT IS A SAFETY DEFECT, WHICH TOYOTA ACKNOWLEDGED WITH THEIR 2014 RECALL.. ?THE INSPECTION OF MY TRUCK FOR CORROSION AND FRAME DAMAGE IN JULY 2014 MISSED THE SEVERITY OF THE PROBLEM WITH MY TRUCK. ?THE APPLICATION OF RUST PROOFING WAS EITHER NOT PROPERLY DONE OR INADEQUATE TO ADDRESS THE DAMAGE, WHICH THE RECALL INTENDED TO ADDRESS. ?TOYOTA?S DEADLINE FOR HAVING THE FRAME REPLACEMENT WORK DONE UNDER THEIR RECALL IS MARCH 31ST 2016. I REPORTED MY FRAME DAMAGE AND REQUESTED REPLACEMENT PRIOR TO THAT DATE A TOYOTA REP SAID THAT, BECAUSE THEIR TECHNICIANS DID NOT NOTE THE SEVERITY OF MY FRAME DAMAGE IN 2014, A FRAME REPLACEMENT BY TOYOTA IS NOT COVERED NOW. THIS TRUCK HAS SEEN VERY LIGHT USE. THE CONDITION OF THIS FRAME IS A SAFETY DEFECT, WHICH TOYOTA HAS COVERED IN OTHER CASES.TOYOTA SHOULD COVER FRAME REPLACEMENT FOR MY TRUCK UNDER THE 2014 RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V604000 (SUSPENSION); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE POWER STEERING FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING BECAME DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,000.
STEERING HAS BECOME VERY DIFFICULT. PARKING, CHANGING LANES, AND TURNING HAVE ALL BECOME QUITE A DANGEROUS CHORE--. TO THE POINT I DO NOT FEEL SAFE EVEN OPERATING THE TRUCK.
INSPECTION NOTICED UNDERFRAME IS BADLY RUSTED (PENETRATION NOT SURFACE RUST) AND IS IN DANGER OF FAILING.
THE FRAME IS RUSTING OUT ON MY TACOMA THAT I PURCHASED AND TOYOTA SAYS SINCE THEY INSPECTED IT 9 MONTH AGO IT NO LONGER QUALIFIES FOR FRAME REPLACEMENT PROGRAM. IT HAD NOT BEEN DRIVEN UNDER ANY NEGATIVE ROAD CORROSIVE CONDITIONS IN THIS TIME, AND THIS FRAME WAS I BELIEVE RUSTED WHEN INSPECTED AND NOT DISCOVERED BECAUSE IT HAS RUSTED FROM THE INSIDE OUT. NOW THE POWER STEERING HAS GONE OUT AND I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING ACCELERATION PROBLEMS WITH IT SINCE PURCHASING IT. I CONTACTED TOYOTA ABOUT THE FRAME RUST AND WAS TOLD BASICALLY TOO BAD SO SAD. THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY FILED MY COMPLAINT UNDER FILE #1603091915 AT THEIR NATIONAL HEADQUARTERS. THE FRAME METAL IS DEFECTIVE. THE POWER STEERING HAS QUIT WORKING AT APPROXIMATELY 75000 MILES, AND THE TRUCK ACCELERATES UNDER ITS OWN POWER WHEN SHIFTING INTO 5TH GEAR.
STEERING IS VERY LOOSE AND UNRESPONSIVE. FEELS LIKE THE WHEEL COULD COME OFF ON THE LEFT SIDE.
2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO REPLACEMENT PARTS NOT AVAILABLE TO REPAIR REAR LEAF SPRINGS RECALL NOTICE. *SMD THE CONSUMER RECEIVED THE RECALL IN MARCH. AS OF AUGUST 15, 2016, THE PROBLEM STILL HASN'T BEEN RECTIFIED. *JB
FRAME RUST. MY VEHICLE EXHIBITED PERFORATED RUST ON THE STRUCTURAL PARTS OF THE FRAME. I TOOK THE TRUCK TO TOYOTA ON 29 FEBRUARY 2016 FOR REPAIR UNDER THEIR SERVICE CAMPAIGN THAT WAS NOT TO END UNTIL 31 MARCH 2016. THE TECHNICIANS COULD NOT FIND THE HOLES OF RUST UNTIL I SHOWED THEM AND THEN I WAS INFORMED THAT TOYOTA WOULD NO LONGER REMEDY THE ROTTING FRAME BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN PREVIOUSLY COATED BY TOYOTA WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS OWNED BY A DIFFERENT OWNER. I POINTED OUT TO THEM THAT THE REMEDY THAT TOYOTA HAD EMPLOYED WAS OBVIOUSLY INEFFECTIVE AND SINCE THE SERVICE CAMPAIGN WAS STILL IN FORCE, A PROPER REMEDY SHOULD BE EMPLOYED. THE DEALERSHIP REFUSED AND REFERRED ME TO TOYOTA NATIONAL FOR USA. THEY ALSO REFUSED TO ASSIST AND SENT A LETTER TO ME TO THAT EFFECT. TOYOTA LAUNCHED THIS SERVICE CAMPAIGN BUT ARE NOT ENSURING THAT THEIR REPAIRS ARE EFFECTIVELY FIXING THE ISSUE WHICH INVOLVES THE UNDERMINING OF THE STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THEIR VEHICLE FRAMES. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT THE FRAME RECALL IS NOT WORKING AND THAT TOYOTA IS NOT WILLING TO STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCT, LEAVING THE CUSTOMER WITH AN UNSAFE VEHICLE DUE TO THE COMPROMISED STRUCTURAL INTEGRITY OF THE FRAME ITSELF.
THE VEHICLE'S ENTIRE ELECTRICAL WIRE HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. DIAGNOSTIC CODE POINTED TO A CORROSION PROBLEM WITH THE HARNESS HOOK-UP POINT WITH THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. TOYOTA PUT OUT A MECHANIC'S BULLETIN FOR IT'S MECHANICS WHEN THIS CODE CAME UP TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE ELECTRICAL WIRE HARNESS PROBABLE CAUSE CORROSION. THE PROBLEM SHOWED UP AFTER STARTING THE TRUCK, DRIVER PUSHED THE BRAKE, TO MOVE TRANSMISSION FROM PARK TO REVERSE. THE RIGHT TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR LIGHT LIT UP WHILE BRAKE WAS DEPRESSED. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. RIGHT SIGNAL CAME ON EVERY TIME THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED, ALL THE WAY TO THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT.

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE GIVEN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNAVAILABLE.
RUST PERFORATION ON FRAME. WAS NOT NOTIFIED THAT THIS WAS AN ISSUE BY MANUFACTURER. FIRST INSPECTED BY DEALER 4/15/15 AND WAS MISSED. INSPECTED BY ANOTHER DEALER DEALER 1/31/16 AND FOUND LARGE PERFORATIONS IN FRAME MEASURING 4". WAS INFORMED BY DEALER THI WAS A KNOWN ISSUE AND WOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF FREE OF CHARGE. MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF ISSUE AND DECLINED FRAME REPLACEMENT OR REPAIR.

WHEN HEAT CONTROL DIAL IS TURNED FROM COLD TO HOT, AN INSIDE DOOR WITHIN THE HEATING/COOLING SYSTEM CLOSES OFF. THIS KEEPS ANY HOT AIR FROM BLOWING INTO THE CAB AND THROUGH THE DEFROSTER. THIS DECREASED AIR VOLUME FROM HVAC VENTS WILL NOT HEAT THE CAB IN COLD WEATHER AND WILL NOT PROPERLY DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD IN WINTRY CONDITIONS AS NO HOT AIR WILL BLOW. TOYOTA SERVICE BULLETIN (T-SB-0072-09) COVERS THIS COSTLY REPAIR. THE INABILITY OF THE DEFROSTER TO PROVIDE HOT AIR TO THE WINDSHIELD HAS CAUSED ME TO PULL OVER SEVERAL TIMES DUE TO INABILITY TO SEE THROUGH IT EITHER FROM INTERNAL CONDENSATION OR FROM ICE BUILDUP DURING TIMES OF PRECIPITATION AND FREEZING CONDITIONS. FURTHER, WITH THE HEATER NOT ABLE TO PROVIDE HOT AIR INTO THE CAB, OCCUPANT SAFETY IS AT RISK IN TIMES OF EXTREME WEATHER DURING BOTH DRIVING AND/OR TIMES THE VEHICLE MIGHT BECOME STRANDED. THIS CONDITION OCCURS IN ALL MODES OF OPERATION, BOTH DRIVING OR IDLING IN PARK. AIR VELOCITY TAPERS OFF AS THE HEAT CONTROL IS INCREASED (TO THE RIGHT) TO THE HIGHER SETTINGS EFFECTIVELY CUTTING OFF HOT AIR FLOW INTO THE CAB. THIS IS BOTH WHEN THE VENTS ARE OPEN AND WHEN IN RECIRCULATION MODE. SEE ATTACHED FILE FOR REFERENCE. PRIMARY SAFETY CONCERN IS VISIBILITY THROUGH THE WINDSHIELD DURING INCLIMATE WEATHER AND OCCUPANT SAFETY IN COLDER CONDITIONS. THIS IS NOT A NEW PROBLEM WITH MY VEHICLE- BUT HAS RECENTLY BECOME A VERY SIGNIFICANT SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO RECENT WEATHER CONDITIONS AND TEMPERATURES. I CANNOT LOAD THE PDF FILE (T-SB-0072-09) AS IT IS TOO LARGE.
REAR LEAF SPRING RECALL, TOYOTA HAS FAILED TO REPAIR. THIS RECALL IS OVER A YEAR WITH "NO REPAIR AVAILABLE" OVER A YEAR TO RECEIVE A SECOND NOTICE INDICATING TOYOTA IS SEARCHING FOR PARTS STILL. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD EVERY TIME VEHICLE IS DRIVEN. LEAF SPRINGS ARE RUSTED AND COULD FAIL. WHY NO CORRECTIVE ACTION AND STILL NO DATE AVAILABLE TO CORRECT?
OVER THE LAST ++18 MONTHS, WHEN AC IS ON, THE TRUCK IDLE WILL IDLE AT ABOUT 1500-1800RPM. AFTER HAVING MECHANIC DO A COUPLE THROTTLE BODY CLEANING IT DID COME DOWN BELOW 1000-1200RPM. FOR THE LAST 5 MONTHS, WHEN SHIFTING (EITHER UP OR DOWN) BETWEEN 4TH & 5TH GEAR, THE ENGINE SURGE TO 3200-3600 RPM AS SOON AS CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED + ACCELERATOR IS RELEASED. IN 2011 WHEN THE DEALER DID RECALL # 09V388000, THE ENGINE SURGING ISSUE WAS NOT THAT AS SEVERE AS IT IS TODAY. IN LAST 3 MONTHS, BESIDE ENGINE REVVING UP , I STARTED GETTING ENGINE ERROR CODES. 07/12/2017 TOOK MY TACOMA TRUCK TO DEALER FOR AVAILABLE RECALLS: 12V092: AIR BAG SPIRAL CABLE 13V337: SEAT BELTS 14V604: REAR LEAF SPRINGS; THESE BROKE IN JANUARY 2013 & I REPLACED BOTH SIDES WITH SKYJACKERS TCR515S (4LEAFS) AND I HAVE NO INTENTION TO REPLACE THEM. I THINK THAT IN EARLY 2011, THE DEALER DID RECALL 09V388000 BUT THIS DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY REFERENCE TO IT SO THEY WOULD NOT ADDRESS THAT ISSUE; BUT HE WOULD WANT TO OPEN ENGINE TO CHECK THAT TIMING CHAIN IS NOT DEFECTIVE/ OFF WHICH HE CLAIMED IS THE CAUSE OF THE SURGING BETWEEN 4TH/5TH GEAR. THIS DIAGNOSTIC WOULD BE AT MY COST. I REFUSE BECAUSE I DISAGREE WITH THIS LOGIC, I DO NOT HAVE LOST OF POWER BUT ONLY ENGINE REVVING UP LIKE CRAZY AND HIGH IDDLE WHEN CLUTCH IS DEPRESSED
RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR LEAF SPRINGS. DEALER EVALUATED AND SPECIAL ORDERED PARTS FOR REPLACEMENT IN DEC 2015. STILL HAVE NOT HAD THE LEAF SPRINGS REPLACED AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE DEALER.
WHILE DRIVING FUSE PANEL UNDER DASH CAUGHT FIRE AFTER USING HORN EXCESSIVELY. FIRE WAS PUT OUT IMMEDIATELY BUT DAMAGE RESULTED IN A MELTED FUSE PANEL AND WIRING HARNESS
LAST FALL I RECEIVED A LIMITED SERVICE CAMPAIGN FOLLOW-UP NOTICE FROM TOYOTA MOTOR SALES, U.S.A., INC. REGARDING POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS SITUATIONS ARISING FROM POSSIBLE FRAME PERFORATIONS. THEIR LETTER SAID AND I QUOTE 'SOME VEHICLES MAY NOT HAVE SUFFICIENT CORROSION-RESISTANT PROTECTION...THIS MAY CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF MORE-THAN-NORMAL RUST IN THE FRAME OF SOME VEHICLES'. THE LETTER SUGGESTED THE OWNERS OF SAID VEHICLES SCHEDULE AN INSPECTION AT A PARTICIPATING DEALERSHIP NO LATER THAN THE MARCH 31, 2016 EXPIRATION DATE. THE INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED ON DECEMBER 11, 2015 AT SUNRISE TOYOTA, 4002 SUNRISE HWY., OAKDALE, NY 11769, (631) 589-9000 AND A PERFORATION OF THE FRAME ON THE FRONT DRIVERS SIDE WHEEL WELL WAS DISCOVERED. THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED ME THAT IT PRESENTED A SAFETY CONCERN THAT WOULD REQUIRE TOTAL REPLACEMENT. AT THIS POINT I WAS TOLD IT WAS ORDERED AND WOULD TAKE 4-6 WEEKS TO ARRIVE. AT 8 WEEKS I HAD TO MAKE THE FIRST CONTACT. THEY SAID NOW IT COULD BE BETWEEN 3-4 MONTHS BUT NEVER REACHED OUT TO INFORM ME OF THIS CHANGE. AT 12 AND 16 WEEKS I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN TO NO AVAIL. THEY HAVE NO IDEA OF A DELIVERY DATE AND DON'T SEEM TO CARE. AT THIS POINT I CALLED TOYOTA CORPORATE CUSTOMER SERVICE AND THEY PROVIDED ME TWO THINGS. THEY WOULD HAVE SUNRISE TOYOTAS CUSTOMER RELATIONS MANAGER CALL ME ALSO TO ABSOLUTELY NO AVAIL AND TO PROVIDE ME A REFERENCE NUMBER [XXX] FOR MY COMPLAINT. DUE TO COMBINATION OF THE SPIRAL CABLE DESIGN AND CHARACTERISTICS UNIQUE TO THE CHASSIS COMPONENTS OF THE TACOMA, STEERING WHEEL VIBRATION ('FLUTTER') CAUSED FRICTION BETWEEN THE FLEXIBLE FLAT CABLE (FFC) AND THE RETAINER IN THE SPIRAL CABLE ASSEMBLY IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS OCCURRED IN A FFC WITH SIXTEEN-CHANNEL CIRCUITS AND DAMAGED CERTAIN CIRCUITS ON THE FLAT CABLE THAT PROVIDES CONNECTIVITY TO THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MODULE. AS A RESULT, CONNECTIVITY WAS LOST AND THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MAY HAVE BECOME DEACTIVATED, CAUSING IT TO NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY TO THE DRIVER. THE 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA WITH A FFC WITH SEVEN CHANNEL-CIRCUITS HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS PROBLEM. INDICATIONS OF A DEVELOPING PROBLEM WAS FIRST NOTED THROUGH ILLUMINATION OF THE AIRBAG WARNING LAMP ILLUMINATED AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE AND ROTATING THE STEERING WHEEL. VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 125,000 MILES AT THAT TIME. INITIALLY THE LAMP WOULD CYCLE OFF AND ON WITH THE FREQUENCY OF THE LAMP IN THE ON POSITION INCREASING OVER TIME. THIS SUGGESTED THAT THE LOSS OF CONNECTIVITY WAS A RESULT OF INCREASED WEAR IN CERTAIN CIRCUITS. EVENTUALLY THE LAMP WOULD STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY INDICATING THAT ALL CONNECTIVITY WAS LOST IN THE DRIVER'S AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER FOR SERVICE AT A MILEAGE OF 129,094 AND THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AT A COST OF $461.83 PLUS TAX.
RECEIVED A RECALL FROM TOYOTA REGARDING UNUSUAL FRAME RUST FOR MY 2007 TACOMA. I BROUGHT IT TO A TOYOTA DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THEY DETERMINED THE FRAME WAS RUSTED THROUGH IN PLACES AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE INSPECTION WAS IN DEC. 2015. THEY TOLD NE THEY HAD TO ORDER PARTS AND IT WOULD TAKE 3 TO 6 MONTHS FOR THEM TO ARRIVE. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER THIS WEEK (3/14/2016) AND WAS INFORMED THE PARTS ARE STILL ON ORDER AND THEY COULD NOT GIVE ME AN ETA FOR THEIR ARRIVAL. I THINK 3 TO 6 MONTHS TO REPAIR SOMETHING AS FUNDAMENTAL AS THE FRAME IN A TRUCK IS EXCESSIVE. THIS RECALL SHOULD HAVE A HIGHER PRIORITY. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THEY ARE AWAITING FRAMES AND RELATED PARTS FOR NUMEROUS TACOMA TRUCKS AT THIS TIME. IN THE MEANTIME, I AM RELUCTANT TO DRIVE THE TRUCK ANY DISTANCE OR WITH ANY SIGNIFICANT LOAD IN THE TRUCK. I ALSO CANNOT TRADE IN OR SELL THE TRUCK IN THIS CONDITION. THIS RECALL HAS A POTENTIAL FOR A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF THE FRAME FAILS WHILE AT HIGHWAY SPEED.

2007 TOYOTA TACOMA, RUSTED FRAME.. I PURCHASED USED IN AUSTIN TEXAS ON OCT 2015 FROM A DEALERSHIP. THE TRUCK IS FROM A NORTHERN STATE, AFFECTED BY MASSIVE AMOUNTS OF RUST ON THE FRAME. I TOOK THE TRUCK IN FOR A LOOK OVER, I WAS TOLD I HAD A FEW YEARS LEFT IN THE TRUCK BEFORE THE RUST ROTS COMPLETELY THROUGH. TOYOTA NEEDS TO RECALL THE 2007 MODELS AS WELL. AN INTERNET SEARCH FOUND HUNDREDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE WITH TACOMAS. LOWER STEERING U JOINT RUSTS AND SEIZES.. LUBED THE SHAFT AND PLAN TO REPLACE THE STEERING KNUCKLE.
STEERING WHEEL INTERMITTENTLY TIGHTENS UP WHILE DRIVING MAKING IT RATHER DIFFICULT TO TURN. SEEMS TO BE RELATED TO A WORN INTERMEDIATE STEERING SHAFT. PERFORMANCE TENDS TO IMPROVE UPON ADDING LUBRICANT TO THE ASSOCIATED U-JOINT, HOWEVER OVER TIME THIS PART BEGINS TO TIGHTEN UP AGAIN. TRY TO MAKE SMALL ADJUSTMENT WITH STEERING WHEEL AND THE STEERING APPEARED TO FIGHT ME. WHEN FIRST STARTING THE TRUCK AND GO TO BACK UP, THE WHEEL IS DIFFICULT TO MOVE. AFTER ROCKING THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH A NUMBER OF TIMES THE STEERING SEEMS A LITTLE MORE NORMAL. THIS SAME WHEEL FIGHT CAN COME ON EVEN WHEN YOU ARE ON THE ROAD AND TRAVELING THE SPEED LIMIT. SINCE THIS HAPPENS WHILE DRIVING, I AM WORRIED THAT IT COULD SEIZE UP AND CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. IF IT WAS JUST MY VEHICLE I WOULD JUST PAY AND GET IT FIXED, AS I AM CURRENTLY DOING, BUT THE INTERNET SAYS THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THE VERY SAME COMPLAINT AND THEY HAVE CONTACTED YOU FOLKS.
