SUN VISOR DROPPED AND WILL STAY IN PLACE. NO REASON FOR THIS TO HAPPEN; IT'S DISTRACTING AND DANGEROUS AS IT FAILS TO ADEQUATELY BLOCK THE SUN. THERE APPEARS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE MECHANISM HOLDING THE VISOR IN PLACE. COMPOUNDING THE PROBLEM IS THE PART IS NOT READILY AVAILABLE AT PARTS STORES AND IT'S PRETTY EXPENSIVE -- MORE THAN $100 EACH FOR SOMETHING THAT NEVER SHOULD HAVE FAILED TO BEGIN WITH. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 TOYOTA TACOMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE SUN VISOR OPENED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION WHERE THEY STATED THAT THE ENTIRE SUN VISOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. ....UPDATED 10-21-13 *BF
NEW 07 TOYOTA TACOMA ACCESS CAB 2WD WITH 400 MILES ON IT EMITS LOUD WIND NOISE FROM WINDSHIELD AREA AT FREEWAY SPEEDS AROUND 70MPH+. SOUND WAS MORE LIKE A SCREECH THAN A WHISTLE AND WILL LIKELY DISTRACT MOST DRIVERS FROM FOCUSING ON ROAD AS IT DID ME. I DROVE IT AROUND FOR THE FIRST FEW WEEKS OF OWNERSHIP TO MAKE SURE IT WASN'T AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND FOUND THE PROBLEM COULD BE RE-PRODUCED ABOUT 90% OF THE TIME ON THE FREEWAY AT THE RIGHT SPEED. TOOK IT TO DEALERSHIP AND THEY ADVISED THEY HAD JUST RECEIVED A TSB ABOUT IT BEING A BAD SEAL ON THE WINDSHIELD. (I DID NOT FIND THE TSB ON THE INTERNET YET, BUT IT COULD BE QUITE NEW AND NOT YET POSTED) AS THE TRUCK IS WELL UNDER WARRANTY, THEY PROMPTLY ARRANGED TO HAVE THE WINDSHIELD COMPLETELY RE-SEALED. IT'S ONLY BEEN ONE DAY SINCE, BUT SO FAR THE PROBLEM APPEARS TO BE REPAIRED. TACOMA OWNERS SHOULD BE AWARE OF THIS ISSUE AS IT COULD PRESENT A SAFETY PROBLEM JUST BY HOW DISTRACTING IT IS WHILE DRIVING. *TR
