AIR INJECTION PUMP AND VALVE HAS A HISTORY OF FAILURE IN TOYOTA TUNDRAS.. THEIR WAS A RECALL UP UNTIL 2011 ON TUNDRAS. I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR 9 MONTHS. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO PRICE LEBLANC TOYOTA IN BATON ROUGE LOUISIANA , AND TO REPLACE THESE PARTS AND LABOR IS GONNA BE $2600 DOLLARS. THESE PARTS ARE DEFECTIVE AS THE DEALERS KEEP THEM IN STOCK BECAUSE OF SO MANY FAILURES AND CONSUMERS ARE HAVING TO PAY THIS HUGE CHARGE. I HAVE SPOKE WITH TOYOTA CORPORATION AND THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE. WITH THE FAILURE OF THIS PART WHEN U ARE DRIVING THE VEHICLE STALLS UPON ACCELERATION. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN U ARE PULLING OUT OR MERGING IN TRAFFIC..AS OF NOW I CANNOT AFFORD 2600 DOLLARS IN REPAIRS. THANK YOU
NOTICED UPON ROTATING MY TIRES THAT I HAVE SEVERAL LUGS NUTS CRACKED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE VIBRATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRIME TOYOTA IN LANCASTER, MA WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TWO FRONT TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED A DAY LATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,500.
CAM TOWER LEAK -OIL LEAKING ON MOTOR
I WAS PULLING INTO MY DRIVEWAY, ABOUT TO PARK. WHEN I BRAKED IT WAS AS IF THE "POWER" IN THE POWER BRAKES HAD FAILED. I HAD TO STOMP ON THE PEDAL. I NEARLY HIT MY HOUSE. THIS WAS ONE WEEK AGO. TODAY, AS I LEFT A PARKING LOT, I NOTICED IT HAPPEN AGAIN: VERY LITTLE STOPPING POWER, BUT NO SOFTNESS IN THE PEDAL. I PLACED THE TRANSMISSION IN PARK AND SAW NO BRAKE FLUID UNDER THE TRUCK. I BEGAN DRIVING SLOWLY AGAIN, AND HAD TO STOMP THE PEDAL TO OBTAIN BRAKING POWER. THE BRAKE LIGHT SUDDENLY CAME ON. A CLICK OR PULSE OCCURED IN THE BRAKES, FELT THROUGH THE PEDAL, AND SUDDENLY THE BRAKES BEGAN FUNCTIONING PROPERLY. THE BRAKE LIGHT REMAINED LIT UNTIL I STOPPED AND RESTARTED THE TRUCK. UPON RESTARTING THE TRUCK, EVERYTHING FUNCTIONED NORMALLY, AND THE BRAKE LIGHT DID NOT LIGHT AGAIN. I WILL NOT DRIVE THE TRUCK UNTIL IT GETS INTO THE DEALER (THEY'RE BOOKED FOR 3 DAYS). THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN, AND I SEE THAT ANOTHER OWNER HAS REPORTED A SIMILAR PROBLEM. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS!
I WAS DRIVING WITH BRIGHT LIGHTS ON I HAD FOG LIGHTS ON FIRST TIME I HAD EVER USED THEM HAD A LEFT TURN TO MAKE TURNED TURN SIGNAL ON ALL LIGHTS WENT OUT I WAS IN TOTAL DARKNESS I TURNED SIGNAL OFF AND LIGHTS CAME BACK ON I PULLED OFF THE ROAD I HIT THE SIGNAL AGAIN AND THE LIGHTS WENT OUR AGAIN AND THE GPS UNIT WE NOTICED CHANGED FROM NIGHT MODE TO DAY MODE. I TURNED SIGNAL OFF AND THE LIGHTS CAME BACK ON I PLAYED AROUND MAKING IT DO IT AGAIN AND AGAIN SO I THOUGHT THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE WHAT CAUSED THIS ? SINCE THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME EVER DRIVING USING FOG LIGHTS I TURNED THEM OFF THEN THE TURN SIGNAL HAD NO EFFECT SO I ASSUMED IT HAD TO BE IN FOG LIGHTS I LEFT THEM ON AND IT DIDN'T DO IT AGAIN. LATTER IN SAFER SETTING LIKE IN MY DRIVE WAY I FOUND OUT IT WOULD HAPPEN WITH FOG LIGHT OFF IT SEEMED TO BE DEPENDENT ON LIGHTS BEING ON BRIGHT WHEN I USED EITHER TURN SIGNAL. IT THEN STOPPED AND I COULDN'T MAKE IT DO IT ANY MORE SO I NEVER MADE A APPOINTMENT ABOUT TWO WEEKS AGO IT DONE IT AGAIN WHILE I WAS DRIVING AGAIN THIS TIME IT WAS DOING IT A LOT SO I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO GET IT FIXED ON MY EXTENDED WARRANTY 100 DEDUCTIBLE TOOK IT TO WHERE I BOUGHT IT AND IT WOULDN'T DO IT FOR THEM OR ME. SO I PAID THEM THE 100.$ CAME HOME IT HASN'T DONE IT AGAIN FOR ABOUT 5 DAYS SO FAR WAITING FOR A COLD SPELL IN MID 20 DEG TO SEE IF THAT MAKES ANY DIFFERENCE. BUT I DID GO ON LINE AND FOUND FORUMS FOR TUNDRA PEOPLE EXPERIENCING SAME THING THE TUNDRAS HAD THE EXACT PROBLEM I AM HAVING THIS IS DANGEROUS I HAVE BEEN LUCKY SO FAR AND HAVE NOT HAD A WRECK I CANT BELIEVE TOYOTA DOESN'T KNOW ABOUT THIS THEY HAD PROBLEMS WITH OTHER CARS LIGHTS GOING OUT AND LOST A CLASS ACTION SUIT. THIS IS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM AND COULD NEVER GET IT TO THE DEALER AND MAKE IT DO THIS. MY BOTHER IN LAW WAS WITH ME THE FIRST TIME THEY WENT OUT THE TECH GOT THEM TO FLICKER 1 TIME NO FIX THOU. *TR
WHEN THE ENGINE STARTS IT HAS A VERY NOTICEABLE KNOCKING NOISE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT NEVER GOES AWAY. YOU PUT IT IN GEAR AND YOU CAN REALLY HEAR THE ENGINE KNOCKING, AND THE KNOCKING SPEEDS UP AS YOU ACCELERATE. EVEN AFTER THE ENGINE WARMS UP COMPLETELY YOU CAN STILL HEAR IT KNOCKING(STATIONARY, OR IN MOTION) . ALSO MY GAS MILEAGE IS HORRIBLE! I AVERAGE ABOUT 12.3MPG EVERY TANK. THE BEST MPG I HAVE EVER SEEN IS 13.4 MPG AVERAGE WHICH IS RIDICULOUS EVEN FOR A FULL SIZE TRUCK. I ALWAYS LOVED TOYOTA VEHICLES AND EVER SINCE I WAS YOUNG I ALWAYS WANTED A TOYOTA TRUCK BECAUSE I THOUGHT THEY WERE THE TOUGHEST OUT THERE, BUT AFTER OWNING THIS 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA I'M DISGUSTED.
TOOK TRUCK IN AT 14,000 MILES WITH A DISTINCT VIBRATION TO DEALER WHERE TRUCK WAS LEASED. TRUCK WAS RETURNED WITH TIRES ROTATED AND TIRES REBALANCED. THIS PROBLEM RESURFACED AGAIN AT 24,000 MILES AND TRUCK AGAIN WAS TAKEN BACK TO DEALER. I WAS NOTIFIED BY DEALERS REP. THAT I NEEDED TO BUY 4 NEW TIRES TO WHICH I TOLD DEALER REP THAT THIS TRUCK WAS A LEASED VEHICLE WHICH I DID NOT OWN AND IT WAS UP TO DEALER TO FIX TRUCK. I ALSO GOT IN TUCH WITH THE MAKER OF THE TIRE WHICH WAS MICHILIN TIRE WHO STATED TO ME THAT THE TIRE IN QUESTION SIZE P255/70R 18 HAD A 5 YEAR 50,000 MILE WARRENTY. MICHILIN ASKED ME FOR THE NUMBER TO THE DEALER AND SAID THAT THEY WOULD GET IN TOUCH WITH DEALER TO TRY TO SEE WHAT THE PROBLEM WAS AND WORK WITH DEALER TO FIX THE SITUATION. I GOT IN TOUCH WITH DEALER ON THE NEXT BUSINESS DAY AND THE SERVICE MANAGER SAID THAT HE HAD CONSULTED MICHILIN AND TOYOTA AND THEY HAD WORKED IT OUT BUT ALSO REQUESTED FROM ME TO GIVE THE TRUCK A WHEEL ALIGNMENT, WHICH I AGREED TO. WHENI WENT TO THE DEALER LATER THAT AFTERNOON TO PICK UP THE TRUCK I PAID FOR THE ALIGNMENT ON TRUCK AND TALKED WITH THE SERVICE MANAGER WHO ELUDED TO ME THAT HE WAS TELLING ME SOMTHING THAT TOYOTA DID NOT WANT THE CUSTERER TO KNOW AND THAT WAS THAT TOYOTA WAS HAVING TRUBLE WITH THESE TRUCKS AND THAT THEY WERE TO HEAVY IN THE FRONT END FOR THE TIRES TO SUSTAIN THE WEIGHT BUT THAT MY TRUCK WAS READY AND I ASSUMED THAT 4 NEW TIRES HAD BEEN PUT ON THE TRUCK SO I PICKED IT UP AND DROVE OPFF. NOW APPOXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO AS I HAD JUST REACHED 34,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE THE VIBRATION STARTED UP AGAIN AND AGAIN I CONSULTED MICHILIN AND THEY ASKED ME TO GO TO AN AUTHERIZED MICHILIN DEALER TO INSPECT THE TIRE AND TRUCK SUSPENSION SYSTEM. THIS WAS DONE AND TO MY SURPRISE I FOUND OUT THAT THE TOYOTA DEALEE HAD NOT REPLACED ALL 4 TIRES AS INDICATED AT 14,000 MILLES BUT ONLY PUT ON 2 TIRES.
I HAVE ONLY 34,800 MILES ON MY 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE DRIVERS SEAT BELT IS ALREADY SHOWING SEVERE WEAR (WITH FRAYING) ON THE BELT, AND THE SEAT BELT LATCH IS ALSO LOSE AT IT'S MOUNTING POINT ON THE DRIVERS SEAT FRAME. THE WHOLE LATCH ASSEMBLY "CLUNKS" WHEN I PULL ON IT, OR EVERY TIME I STOP THE CAR.
OIL LEAK AROUND CAMS. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM NOTED ALL OVER THE INTERNET - BOTH 4.6 AND 5.7 LITER MOTORS. TOYOTA REFUSES TO COVER IF YOU ARE NOT NOTIFIED OF THIS PROBLEM AFTER 60K MILES OR 5 YEARS. OIL LEAKS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE MOTOR ON TO THE EXHAUST. THE DATE I NOTED BELOW, IS ONLY WHEN THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME. I BELIEVE THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING FOR SOMETIME NOW. I JUST REACHED 60K+ WITH MY LAST OIL CHANGE AND WAS THEN REPORTED TO ME -- I BELIEVE WITH THAT INTENTION.
2013 TUNDRA WITH MICHELIN LT285/65R (DOT B713) WITH LESS THAN 10,000 MILES ON THEM HAD INNER SIDE WALL SPLIT AND TIRE BLOW OUT AT 60 MILES PER HOUR. ALMOST CAUSED VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. EVENT OCCURRED 2/16/16. TIRES PURCHASED 6/20/15.
VEHICLE AT 23199 MILES, STILL UNDER WARRANTY-CAR STATIONARY, SMELLED BURNING OIL AND NOTICED THE OIL LEAK FROM BOTH SIDES OF THE WHEEL WELL ABOVE THE HEAT SHIELD. VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER AND CAM TOWER SEAL WAS LEAKING FROM BOTH SIDES. THEY ALSO FOUND VALVE COVER WAS LEAKING AS WELL. THIS WAS A GREAT SAFETY CONCERN DUE TO FIRE HAZARD. FACTORY DEFECT DUE TO INSUFFICIENT SEAL APPLIED TO THE MATTING SURFACES. DEFECT REMEDIED AND MAJOR REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. THEY HAVE CHANGED ALL THE GASKETS AND SEALS ON THE ENGINE.
MY DRIVERS SIDE SEAT BELT WOULD NOT CONNECT AND UPON INSPECTION 2 PIECES INCLUDING A SPRING FELL OUT OF IT.
CONTINUOUS OIL LEAK FROM CAM TOWER ONTO EXHAUST MANIFOLD. DEALER DENIED THE ISSUE EVEN THOUGH THE SIGNS ARE VERY OBVIOUS. A CALL TO TOYOTA TO GOT ME NO WHERE. THEY DENIED THE ISSUE LIKE THE DEALER. THERE IS OIL ON THE ENGINE BLOCK AND ALSO THE EXHAUST MANIFOLD IS BLACK FROM THE ALL OF THE OIL DRIPPING. AFTER DRIVING FOR AWHILE THE CAR SMELLS LIKE IT'S BURNING. THERE IS A VERY REAL POTENTIAL FOR FIRE. THE ISSUE APPEARS TO BE WIDESPREAD. A QUICK INTERNET SEARCH CAN FIND EXTENSIVE EXAMPLES. TOYOTA APPEARS TO BE REVERTING TO IT'S OLD WAYS AND NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA EQUIPPED WITH BRIDGESTONE DUELER H/T 684 II TIRES, SIZE: P255/70/R18 (NA). WHILE HAVING ROUTINE MAINTENANCE PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE, THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FRONT TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO WEAR ON THE TREADS OF THE TIRES. THE TIRES WERE NOT REPLACED. THE TIRES WERE THE ORIGINAL EQUIPMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE OF THE TIRES AND THE VEHICLE WAS 20,000.
I WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP IN ASSESSING THE POSSIBLE DANGER FROM AN ACTIVE EXCESSIVE OIL LEAK FROM THE CAM TOWER ON THE 2013 TUNDRA. THIS RELATIVELY NEW TRUCK LEAKED OIL ALL OVER THE ENGINE WITHOUT MY KNOWLEDGE UNTIL I BROUGHT IT IN FOR SERVICE. I WAS TOLD THIS COULD HAVE LEAD TO AN AUTO FIRE AND SINCE I AM A DISABLED SENIOR THIS IS TERRIFYING. A BRIEF REVIEW OF THE INTERNET LITERATURE SHOWS THAT THIS LEAKING CAM TOWER SEAL IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND CAN HAPPEN REPETITIVELY BECAUSE OF A MANUFACTURE DEFECT IN THE CAM TOWER COVER AND SEALS. MY QUESTION TO YOU IS THIS A COMMON PROBLEM AND IS THERE REALLY A DANGER OF FIRE? IN SHORT SHOULD I THINK ABOUT BUYING A NEW TRUCK AND IS THERE ANY INVESTIGATION TAKING PLACE AT THIS TIME. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED AND THERE WERE NO INJURIES REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA. WHILE DRIVING BETWEEN 3 AND 7 MPH WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE ENGINE WOULD REV AND THE RPMS WOULD ERRONEOUSLY INCREASE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO SEPARATE DEALERS WHO WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2,000.
ON 08/22/14, I HAD BEEN TO THE LOCAL TOYOTA DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY OIL CHANGED. I ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE BRAKES BECAUSE THERE WAS A TERRIBLE VIBRATION AND THE BRAKES HAVE NOT STOPPED WELL SINCE I BOUGHT THE TRUCK. THEY SAID THE TRUCK NEEDED NEW BRAKES, ROTORS AND PADS ALL THE WAY AROUND. I WAS SUPPOSED TO TAKE IT BACK ON 08/29/14. ON 08/28/14 WHILE DRIVING ON A CLEAR ROAD WITH NO RAIN OR CLOUDS I WENT TO STOP AND I PUSHED THE BRAKES TO THE FLOOR WITH BOTH FEET AND THE TRUCK DID NOT STOP AND I HIT ANOTHER CAR. I HAVE FILED A COMPLAINT WITH TOYOTA AND THEY FINALLY ORDERED AN INSPECTOR TO GET THE BLACK BOX FROM MY TRUCK. HE HAS NOT CALLED TO SCHEDULE THIS AND IT IS 3 WEEKS LATER. I HAVE LEFT MESSAGE AFTER MESSAGE. I BELIEVE THE BRAKES ARE FAULTY WITH THE TRUCK. THERE IS NO REASON AT 9000 MILES ON A NEW TRUCK THAT IT SHOULD NEED NEW BRAKES, ROTORS AND PAD ALL THE WAY AROUND. NOW I AM WAITING ON ENGINEERING ANALYSIS ASSOCIATION TO CONTACT ME TO SET UP AN INSPECTION OF MY TRUCK. NO ONE IS WILLING TO HELP ME GET INFORMATION, NOT TOYOTA AND NOT EAA. *TR
THE BODY OF THE TRUCK IS DESIGNED TO ALLOW RODENTS/MICE INTO THE CAB WHERE THEY CAN CHEW THE WIRING WHICH WILL LEAD TO A VARIETY OF PROBLEMS. THE TRUCK CURRENTLY HAS ABOUT 3300 MILES ON IT. WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER THEY SAID YEAH ALL THESE TRUCKS HAVE THIS, WHAT HAS BEEN DAMAGED SO WE CAN GET IT IN FOR REPAIR. I ASKED IF IT WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND THEY SAID NO. COATING THE WIRING WITH A SOY (MOUSE FOOD) BASED PRODUCT IS INSANITY UNLESS YOU'RE TRYING TO INCREASE YOUR REPAIR BUSINESS. THERE ARE 16 COMPUTERS IN THIS TRUCK THAT CONTROL EVERYTHING. WHEN THE WIRING IS DAMAGED BECAUSE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW ALL SORTS OF MALFUNCTIONS WILL OCCUR THAT INCLUDE STEERING, ENGINE QUITTING, BRAKES FAILING, THROTTLE, LIGHTS, ETC. THE DEALER IS VERY AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SPECIALIZES IN FIXING IT TO THE TUNE OF ABOUT $200 SO FAR. I HAVEN'T HAD A WIRING PROBLEM BECAUSE OF MICE BUT OTHERS HAVE. THIS VERY FUNNY (TO THE DEALER0 PROBLEM WILL EVENTUALLY KILL PEOPLE IF IT HASN'T ALREADY. *TR

ON MARCH 6 OF 2014 I HAD BROUGHT MY 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA IN FOR A VERY BAD VIBRATION ISSUE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM IT TURNS OUT WHEN THEY INSPECTED THE TRUCK THAT DRIVESHAFT HAD TO BE REPACKED I WAS IN A RENTAL CAR FOR TWO INCONVENIENCE ME FOR THOSE TWO DAYS WITH NO TRUCK THAT I BOUGHT TO HAVE AND USE FINALLY GOT THE TRUCK BACK EVERYTHING SEEMS OKAY AND THEN ON 531 OF 14 WHICH IS APPROXIMATELY TWO MONTHS AFTER THE FIRST INCIDENT MY TRUCK WAS AGAIN BROUGHT IN FOR A ISSUE COMING FROM THE REAR END NOW THEY STATED ME THAT MY WHEEL BEARING HAD WENT WENT BAD WITH PROXIMATELY ONLY 11,256 MILES I'M NO MECHANIC BUT I DO KNOW WHEEL-BEARINGS GO WAY LONGER.. I CALLED TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY SENT A TOW TRUCK TO PICK UP MY VEHICLE AND DELIVER IT TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. WHILE LOADING THE TRUCK, A SEAL POPPED ON THE STEERING ARM AND FLUID STARTED LEAKING OUT. SPRINGHILL TOYOTA IS NOT HONORING MY MANUFACTURE OR EXTENDED WARRANTY BECAUSE I HAVE ADDED HEAVY DUTY COIL SPRINGS TO SUPPORT MY ROAD ARMOR BUMPER I INSTALLED FOR EXTRA PROTECTION. AFTER RESEARCHING, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THE 08-13 TUNDRA'S WITH OR WITHOUT MODIFICATIONS. TOYOTA EVEN ISSUED A TECHNICAL NOTICE "T-TT-0183-12" TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE BUT THE DEALERSHIP IS DENYING THIS CLAIM. THIS COULD CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT IF THIS HAPPENED AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR MAKING TURNS. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL ISSUED OR A NOTICE TO NOTIFY ALL OF THE DEALERSHIPS OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE BRAND NEW FROM JOE PECHELES TOYOTA IN WASHINGTON, NC. I DISCOVERED DENTS IN THE ROOF 5 DAYS AFTER PURCHASE. THE ROOF SOMETIMES VIBRATES AND MAKES NOISE WHEN DRIVEN. YOU CAN PLACE YOUR HAND ALMOST ANYWHERE ON THE ROOF AND IT CAVITATES. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND TOYOTA'S CUSTOMER CARE. I WAS TOLD IN AN EMAIL BY THEIR CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT SUPERVISOR [XXX] THAT THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD A MEETING WITH DISTRICT SERVICE MANAGER [XXX] AND JOE PECHELES GENERAL MANAGER [XXX] ON FEB. 17, 2014. I WAS SHOWN A DIAGRAM OF THE ROOF AND THE SUPPORT BRACES. THE INTERIOR LINER WAS REMOVED AND [XXX] LOOKED AT THE SUPPORT BRACES AND TOLD ME THE ROOF MET MANUFACTURING SPECIFICATIONS AND THAT THEY COULD NOT ACCOUNT FOR THE DENTS AND THE CAVITATING. HE SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE SOMETHING HEAVY WAS PLACED ON THE ROOF TO CAUSE THE DENTS EVEN THOUGH THERE IS NO EVIDENCE TO MATCH HIS CLAIM, NO SCRATCHES, SCRAPES, THE PAINT IS PERFECT, THE INDENTS ARE NOT LOCATED IN A SPECIFIC AREA. HE STATED ALL TOYOTA TUNDRA'S WITH A SUN ROOF ARE MANUFACTURED THE SAME. WHEN THE INTERIOR LINER WAS REMOVED I PLACED MY HAND ON THE ROOF JUST ABOVE THE SUPPORT BRACES AND THE ROOF FLEXES WHERE IT'?S SUPPOSED TO BE SUPPORTED MOST, THE METAL IS VERY THIN. THERE WAS NO AUTO BODY MECHANIC TO ANSWER ANY OF MY CONCERNS DURING THIS MEETING AND THEY CONVENIENTLY HAD NO OTHER TUNDRA WITH A SUNROOF TO COMPARE WITH MINE. EARLIER WHEN I WAS COMMUNICATING WITH TOYOTA CUSTOMER CARE I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN AUTO BODY SHOP. I WAS TOLD THE ROOF WAS NOT STRUCTURALLY SUPPORTED PROPERLY AND THEY GAVE ME AN ESTIMATE TO PROPERLY FIX IT. I EMAILED THIS INFORMATION TO THEIR CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT AND NO MENTION HAS BEEN MADE BY TOYOTA ABOUT THE FINDINGS. I FEEL THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IF THIS TRUCK FLIPS OVER THE ROOF WILL OFFER NO PROTECTION TO THE OCCUPANTS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKES IN AN ATTEMPT TO COMPLETE A TURN, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN AND CRASHED INTO A NEARBY BUILDING. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUFFERED FROM INJURIES TO THE HEAD, NECK AND SHOULDERS. IN ADDITION, THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CONTACT'S BODY SUSTAINED SEVERE INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 700. WHILE DRIVING AT 75 MPH ON INTERSTATE 40 STEERING COLUMN COMPLETELY FELL ON TO LAP, HAD TO PICK UP STEERING COLUMN AND TRY TO KEEP TRUCK UNDER CONTROL AT WHICH TIME ALL DASH LIGHTS CAME ON . AFTER GETTING TRUCK STOPPED NOTICED THAT BOLTS USED TO HOLD STEERING COLUMN WHERE NOT ATTACHED TO COLUMN. SEAT RAIL LOOSE ON DRIVERS SIDE SEAT. SEAT IS BOLTED FIRMLY TO FLOOR BUT THE RAIL THAT IT SLIDES ON IS LOOSE. PROBLEM STARTED AT 30,000 MILES AND TRUCK HAS 40,000. TOYOTA WANT 1100.00 TO FIX THE SEAT BECAUSE ITS OUT OF WARRANTY. TOYOTA OFFERED TO PAY FOR THE RAIL AT 700.00 AND I PAY 300.00 FOR INSTALL. AS I RESEARCH THIS MODEL OF TUNDRA ON THE INTERNET, THIS ISSUE IS COMMON. THIS TRUCK IS UNSAFE WITH A LOOSE SEAT RAIL AND I FEEL THAT IT SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACED EVERY 30K MILES. INCREDIBLY POOR MILEAGE DUE TO DEFECTIVE FLEX FUEL ENGINE. I HAVE A BRAND NEW 2013 TOYOTA TUNDRA CREWMAX 4X4 FLEX FUEL THAT IS EPA RATE FOR 13/17. I HAVE BEEN CONSISTENTLY AVERAGING 7.4 MPG CITY UNDER VERY LIGHT THROTTLE. FOLLOWING A TOYOTA CORPORATE ESB I HAVE ALREADY HAD THE DEALER REFLASH THE ECU IN AN ATTEMPT TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE. WHEN DRIVING ON CONCRETE INTERSTATE HIGHWAYS AT SPEEDS OVER 65 MPH THERE IS EXCESSIVE BED BOUNCE ON THE PICKUP CREATING EXTREME VIBRATION IN THE CABIN AND AFFECTING THE HANDLING OF THE PICKUP. I COMPLAINED TO THE TOYOTA DEALER AND WAS TOLD THAT THIS IS NORMAL FOR ALL PICKUPS BUT I COULD CORRECT IT BY LOADING WEIGHT IN THE BOX. IT APPEARS TO BE A DESIGN FLAW THAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED ON TECH BULLETIN THE 2007-2010 TUNDRAS, BUT THE BED BOUNCE PROBLEM ON THE 2013 TUNDRA CONTINUES. I HAVE OWNED 4 FULL SIZED 4 WHEEL DRIVE PICKUPS INCLUDING A 2003 TUNDRA AND I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH A ROUGH RIDE. *TR
BRAKES DO NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY NOR CONSISTENTLY. I AM HONESTLY CONCERNED (IF NOT AFRAID) ABOUT A SPORADIC NOISE I AM HEARING AND HAVE CONTINUED TO HEAR AND EXPERIENCE SINCE I PURCHASED THIS TRUCK. THE NOISE IS A THUD AND A FEELING AT THE BRAKE PEDAL ALONG WITH A GREATLY INCREASED AMOUNT OF STOPPING DISTANCE NECESSARY TO SUCCESSFULLY BRINGING THE VEHICLE TO A COMPLETE STOP. I HAVE MADE THIS CONDITION KNOWN SINCE MY PURCHASE AND SERVICE DONE WITHIN FLORIDA, AS DURING BREAK IN CERTAIN CONDITIONS WERE APPLICABLE DISGUISING THE CONDITION BUT NEEDLESS TO SAY IT IS A SURE AND CERTAIN SAFETY CONCERN & CONDITION AS I CANNOT ADEQUATELY DETERMINE WHEN THE CONDITION WILL ARISE THUS I CANNOT ADEQUATELY JUDGE THE NECESSARY DISTANCE TO BRING THE VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE CONDITION MAKES IT FEEL AS THOUGH JUST THE REAR BRAKES ARE ENGAGED, NO "PULLING" IS FELT IN THE STEERING OF THE VEHICLE BUT CERTAINLY I AM BEING STOPPED COMPLETELY FROM "BEHIND". CRAMER TEST DROVE THE TRUCK BUT FOUND NOTHING WRONG BUT I CONTEND THE PROBLEM IS SO INFREQUENT AND SPORADIC A TEST DRIVE OR TWO MAY NOT [OR MAY] EVER DISCOVER THE ISSUE I AM SURE EXISTS WITHIN THIS BRAKING SYSTEM NEVERTHELESS THE CONDITION IS PREVENTING ME FROM DRIVING THE VEHICLE FOR FEAR I OR SOME OTHER INNOCENT PEDESTRIAN OR MOTORIST WILL BE INJURED AS A DIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PROXIMAL RESULT OF MY BRAKING SYSTEM'S FAILURE(S). WE NEED TO GET THE CONDITION FIXED WITHOUT ADDING HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS OF MILES TO MY VEHICLE WITHOUT JUST COMPENSATION. THE TRUCK HORN DOES NOT WORK WHEN PRESSING ON THE STEERING WHEEL. IT WILL WORK WHEN THE PANIC BUTTON IS PRESSED. I BOUGHT THE TRUCK FROM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, A FRIEND OF MINE, AND HE BELIEVES IT NEVER WORKED. MY BROTHER HAS A SIMILAR TUNDRA 2014 MODEL AND HIS HORN HAS STARTED WORKING ONLY INTERMITTINGLY. I BELIEVE THIS MAY BE A COMMON PROBLEM.
BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, I TRIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE BUT THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS SPONGY AND PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITHOUT STOPPING THE TRUCK. I HAD TO CONTINUE TO PUMP THE BRAKES AND ATTEMPT TO STOP THE TRUCK UNTIL IT FINALLY CAME TO A REST IN THE STREET. IT WAS AS IF THERE WAS NO POWER ASSIST TO THE BRAKES. THE BRAKE SYSTEM THOUGHT THE ENGINE WAS OFF, DESPITE THE ENGINE HAVING WARMED UP FOR ABOUT FIVE MINUTES. *TR
BAD VIBRATION IN STEERING WHEEL AND GAS PEDAL AT 1600-1900 RPM RANGE. DOESN'T MATTER THE SPEED. VIBRATION IS WORSE WHEN VEHICLE IS UNDER LOAD OR TOWING . BOTH HANDS AND RIGHT FOOT FALL ASLEEP FROM VIBRATION ON LONG CONTINUOUS TRIPS , I'VE CONTACTED TOYOTA TWICE AND HAD TO DEALER TWICE . DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL CHARACTERISTIC OF TRUCK . TOYOTA DENIES ANY OTHER COMPLAINTS . THERE IS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT THIS VIBRATION AS HANDS AND FOOT ARE AFFECTED BY THE VIBRATION TO THE POINT OF GOING NUMB , THERE ARE MANY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS ON MANY TOYOTA FORUMS. *TR
