BROKEN BOLT FOR CONTROL ARM OF SUSPENSION. PASSENGER SIDE BOLT HEAD BROKEN OFF, CAUSING KNOCKING DURING BUMPS/ACCELERATION/BREAKING. RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE BOLT & CONTROL ARM FOR SUSPENSION ON BOTH SIDES TO MITIGATE ISSUE. RESEARCH ON THIS ISSUE HAS SHOWN THAT THIS IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR THE TOYOTA YARIS CONTROL ARM BOLTS. THIS IS A SERIOUS HAZARD SHOULD THE BOLT BREAK DURING USE.
TAKATA RECALL - NOTHING HAS HAPPENED YET, BUT THAT'S ALSO THE PROBLEM. THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED IN MAY OF 2016, AND THERE'S STILL NO REMEDY FOR IT.

TAKATA RECALL : I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM TOYOTA RELATING TO AN AIRBAG ISSUE THAT COULD RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH. AS THEIR INTERIM MEASURE THEY RECOMMEND NOT OPERATING MY VEHICLE WITH A PASSENGER IN THE PASSENGER SEAT. I AM IN THE PROCESS OF TEACHING MY SON TO DRIVE AND I ONLY HAVE THIS CAR. GOOD AFTERNOON I HAVE A 2007 TOYOTA YARIS WITH AROUND 108,000 MILES. I MADE AN APPT WITH A LOCAL DEALER TO GO THRU 3 RECALLS IN MY CAR AND ADDITIONALLY TO CHECK ON MY REAR-DRIVER SEATBELT WHICH IS NOT RETRACTING (IT FAILED ON 6-26-16) . I HAVE READ VARIOUS FORUMS STATING THAT VARIOUS OWNERS OF MY MODEL CAR HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE. THE DEALER FINISHED THE 3 RECALLED ISSUES. THE ISSUE WITH THE REAR SEATBELT WAS RELATED TO A BALL BEARING IN THE SYSTEM THAT WAS NOT ALLOWING FOR THE SEATBELT TO RECOIL. THE DEALER WANTED AROUND $350 TO FIX THE ISSUE. I THINK THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE THE CAR IS NOT NEW BUT AN ITEM THAT IS NEEDED FOR SAFETY SHOULD NOT GO BAD WITHIN A FAIRLY LONG TIMELINE, IT SHOULD AT LEAST OUTLAST THE CAR. I HAVE READ VARIOUS FORUMS WITH PEOPLE COMPLAINING ON THIS SAME PROBLEM. HOW CAN THIS NOT BE A PROBLEM RELATED TO QUALITY AND SAFETY OF THE EQUIPMENT TOYOTA SELLS? GOT NEWSLETTER FROM TOYOTA 6/9/2016 ABOUT RECALL ON AIR BAGS TAKATA FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG INFLATOR ZONES A AND B - PARTS WERE NEVER DONE...FIRST I WAS TOLD PART WAS NOT IN, THAT I WOULD CALLED, NEVER HAPPEN....... PLEASE UPDATE ON THIS....
I WAS DRIVING TO MY MOTHERS OFF OF 700 E IN SALT LAKE CITY, DURING TRAFFIC. ALL 3 LANES STOPPED TO LET ME PASS AND AS I WAS TURNING LEFT ANOTHER CAR WAS DRIVING IN THE BIKE LANE AT 45MPH AND WITH OUT TOUCHING THEIR BRAKES SLAMMED INTO MY CAR THROWING ME A FEW FEET. WHEN I GOT OUT OF THE CAR I NOTICED MY AIRBAGS DIDN'T DEPLOY. I REMEMBER THERE BEING A RECALL ON THEM AND LARRY H MILLER DID NO HAVE THE PARTS THEY NEEDED SO THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IF THAT OTHER DRIVE WAS GOING 4-5 MPH FASTER MY SON AND I COULD BE DEAD DO TO NO AIRBAGS. IT JUST WORRIED ME FOR THEM NOT DEPLOYING WHEN THE OTHER DRIVERS THEIR AIRBAGS DEPLOYED JUST FINE.
IT HAS BEEN OVER SIX MONTHS SINCE I WAS NOTIFIED THAT MY FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG COMPONENT NEEDS REPAIRED/REPLACED (THIS IS DUE TO THE TAKATA AIRBAG INFLATORS). IN THE MEANTIME, NOBODY IS ABLE TO SIT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. THIS IS A MAJOR INCONVENIENCE, ESPECIALLY GIVEN THE SMALLER SIZE OF THE MODEL OF THE CAR - LOSING ONE PASSENGER SEAT MAKES A DIFFERENCE, ESPECIALLY FOR AN ADULT WHO WOULD NORMALLY SIT THERE INSTEAD OF THE BACK! WE HAVE HAD TO ADJUST HOW OUR FAMILY TRAVELS FOR OVER SIX MONTHS. I FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED IMMEDIATELY OR WE SHOULD BE PROVIDED WITH A COMPARABLE, *FULLY USABLE* VEHICLE IN THE MEANTIME.

TAKATA RECALL THIS HAS BEEN UNDER RECALL FOR MONTHS, TOYOTA IS NOT REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE PART. MY CHILD IS DRIVING AROUND IN AN UNSAFE CAR AND NO ONE SEEMS TO BE WILLING TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THERE IS NOT EVEN A SCHEDULE FOR REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE AIRBAGS.
WE RECEIVED A PARTIAL RECALL IN MAY 2016, AND SINCE THEN HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. NO REMEDY IS AVAILABLE AT THIS TIME. I THINK THIS IS FAR TOO LONG TO WAIT FOR A FIX.

"TAKATA RECALL" - I LIVE IN SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS WHICH IS DESIGNATED CLIMATE ZONE 2A HUMID. IT HAS BEEN SIX MONTHS SINCE TOYOTA SENT ME A LETTER INFORMING ME OF A RECALL OF MY CAR DUE TO THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. IN THE LETTER, IT STATED THAT IN A HOT, HUMID CLIMATE SUCH AS OURS, THE TAKATA AIRBAG WOULD BE EXPECTED TO BEGIN DETERIORATING ABOUT SIX YEARS AFTER MANUFACTURE AND BE TOTALLY DETERIORATED BY NINE YEARS. I DIDN'T GET THE LETTER UNTIL NINE YEARS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. IT'S LIKE TOYOTA SAYING, "GUESS WHAT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG IN YOUR CAR IS LIKELY TOTALLY DETERIORATED NOW, SO WE RECOMMEND YOUR NOT CARRYING ANY PASSENGERS UNTIL WE GET AROUND TO REPLACING YOUR AIR BAG." I'VE BEEN DRIVING MY WIFE AND OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS AROUND QUITE OFTEN SINCE WE'VE BOUGHT THE YARIS, AND NOW I'M JUST FINDING OUT IT WAS DANGEROUS FOR THEM TO BE RIDING AS A PASSENGER FOR THE PAST FOUR YEARS, AND ESPECIALLY NOW. I'M ANGRY AND DISAPPOINTED THAT IT TOOK TOYOTA SO LONG TO INFORM ME OF THIS PROBLEM AND ESPECIALLY MORE SO WHEN I THINK I WAS GAMBLING WITH MY FAMILY'S SAFETY EVERY TIME WE WERE USING THE PASSENGER SEAT. I WANT TO GET MY AIR BAG REPLACED NOW OR FIND OUT HOW I CAN DISABLE THE AIR BAG. I WILL ALSO ACCEPT GETTING A SIMILAR MODEL LOANER CAR WITH PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS NO OLDER THAN TWO YEARS OLD. CLUNKING NOISE HEARD DURING VEHICLE OPERATION OVER ROADWAY BUMPS OR APPLICATION OF BRAKES. INSPECTED TO FIND FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM BOLT CORRODED AND CRACKED. THIS BOLT IS LOCATED AT THE REAR OF THIS CONTROL ARM AND PASSES THROUGH THE SUBFRAME. BOLT HEAD AND PORTION OF SHANK WAS MISSING DUE TO CORROSION AND FATIGUE FAILURE. LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS LOOSE, POSING AN UNSAFE OPERATION CONDITION. TOYOTA HAS AN EXISTING TSB ON THIS ISSUE. I BROUGHT MY VEHICLE TO A CERTIFIED MECHANIC AND PAID REPAIR COSTS OUT OF POCKET. SUBFRAME REMOVED, PORTION OF BOLT EXTRACTED AND REPLACED. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE RE-EVALUATED FOR A RECALL POSSIBILITY. *TR
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE BEEN WAITING TO HEAR WHEN I CAN BRING IN MY CAR TO BE FIXED. I GOT THE NOTICE IN MARCH, & CHECK THIS SITE, PLUS THE TOYOTA RECALL SITE FOR UPDATES. I FIND IT CONCERNING THAT THERE HAS NOT BEEN ANY NOTICE STILL TO GET MY CAR FIXED FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN SEVEN MONTHS, AND THAT IS FAR TOO LONG FOR AN ISSUE WITH AIRBAGS TO BE UNFIXED. AS FAR AS I HAVE SEEN, MY VEHICLE'S FIX IS NOT READY AT THIS TIME.

I WAS SITTING AT A RED LIGHT WHEN MY 2007 TOYOTA YARIS WAS RAMMED FROM BEHIND IN A REAR END COLLISION. I SUSTAINED SEVERAL INJURIES. MY AIR BAG DIDN'T DEPLOY, BUT THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. IN ADDITION, THE SEATBELTS DIDN'T WORK EITHER. I SUFFERED A COMMINUTED FRACTURE TO MY LEFT DISTAL CLAVICLE, FRACTURED L1 TRANSVERSE PROCESS, AND I'M HAVING SURGERY TO FIX THE PROBLEMS THAT WERE CAUSED FROM MY FACE HITTING THE STEERING WHEEL. THIS HAPPENED ON OCT 20, 2015 AND I JUST FOUND OUT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH 2007 TOYOTA YARIS'. I CAN PROVIDE ADDITION INFORMATION IS NEEDED.

THE CONTACT OPENED THE HOOD AND NOTICED THE ELECTRICAL WIRES ON THE FIREWALL BURNING, PRODUCING SMALL FLAMES. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE AND WAS UNABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FLAMES. THE VEHICLE EXPLODED INTO A BALL OF FLAMES. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE LOCAL POLICE AND FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVED AT THE SCENE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT AN INVESTIGATION WOULD BE CONDUCTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.

IN APPROXIMATELY MAY 2015 I REPLACED THE HUB ON THE RIGHT REAR WHEEL. AFTER THE ITEM WAS REPLACED AND ABS SENSOR REATTACHED I HAVE HAD THE ISSUE OF ABS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT ON CONTINUALLY ON THE DASH UPON STARTUP, THEY NEVER GO OFF!!! NEEDLESS TO SAY I HAVE LOST ABS SINCE THAT TIME. I HAVE HAD THE DIAGNOSTICS CHECKED AND THERE WERE THREE ABS RELAY SENSOR WARNING FAULTS, FRONT RIGHT, AND BOTH BACK WHEELS. SINCE THEN I HAVE REPLACED ALL THE WIRING HARNESSES FOR THE THREE WHEELS. THE DIAGNOSTIC SHOWS NO ABS RELAY FAULTS. THE ABS AND EMERGENCY BRAKE LIGHT STILL INCESSANTLY STAY LIT ON THE DASH. I HAVE ALSO TRIED TO RESET THE INTERNAL COMPUTER BY REMOVING THE NEGATIVE TERMINAL ON THE BATTERY. I AM IN THE MILITARY AND HAVE READ MANY ISSUES AND FAULTS REGARDING THIS ABS ISSUE, AND IT WOULD BE VERY EXPENSIVE FOR TOYOTA OR A MECHANIC TO TRY AND FIX THIS ISSUE, THAT I HAVE SEEN OCCURRING ON MANY TOYOTAS ACROSS THE USA. THAT'S WHY I HAVE TRIED TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE ON MY OWN. NOW I AM PCS'ING TO MY NEXT DUTY STATION, YET IF I DON'T GET THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS TO TURN OFF I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO SHIP THE CAR.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT WAS SLOW TO RETRACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,225.
