UPON CLOSING CONVERTIBLE TOP WHILE STATIONARY ON THE SHOULDER OF A DIVIDED ROADWAY, DRIVER'S WINDOW JAMMED HALFWAY AND BECAME INOPERABLE. VW DEALER AND VW REGIONAL OFFICE CONFIRMED THAT THIS WAS A KNOWN MANUFACTURING DEFECT IN WINDOW REGULATORS, AFFECTING ABILITY TO SEE PROPERLY OUT OF VEHICLE. VW PERSONNEL SAID THEY HAD ACTUALLY EXTENDED A WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THIS KNOWN DEFECT -- PROVIDING 100,000 MILES OF COVERAGE. HOWEVER, UPON FURTHER RESEARCH, THEY STATED THAT THE EXTENDED WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED IN 2014 AND WOULD NO LONGER BE HONORED DESPITE THEIR ACKNOWLEDGMENT THAT THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE CAUSED BY A MANUFACTURING DEFECT. THIS FORCED ME TO HAVE THE DEFECT REPAIRED AT EXTREMELY HIGH COST AND MY OWN EXPENSE. THE INVOICE IS ATTACHED, AND I HAVE KEPT THE RUINED PARTS FOR FURTHER DOCUMENTATION IF NEEDED.

IN ADDITION, THE SELECTOR LEVER POSITION INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHED AND THE DEPRESSED BRAKE INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHED. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V333000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 110,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY I HEARD WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE SOUND OF A ROCK HITTING MY WINDSHIELD AND THE NEXT THING I HEAR IS THE SUNROOF EXPLODING RAINING SHARDS OF GLASS ON ME AND THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR.
THE TRANSMISSION ABRUPTLY GOES INTO NEUTRAL WILE IN FREEWAY.ACCORDING TO A RECALL FROM THE NHTSA, MY CAR HAS EXACTLY THE SAME PROBLEM, A LOSE WIRE IN THE TRANSMISSION. THE DEALER SAYS THE RECALL IS NO LONGER ACTIVE, AND WOULD NOT FIX IT. ?????. THE CAR WILL DO THIS IN BUMPY ROADS.
ABS, ENGINE FAULT, AND A WHOLE CLUSTER OF LIGHTS CAME ON SUDDENLY WHEN THE BRAKE WAS APPLIED AT A NORMAL RATE OF SPEED (~40MPH), WITH THE WHEELS ALMOST LOCKING UP (UNTIL BRAKE WAS RELEASED). THIS CAUSED A POTENTIALLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION, AND COULD HAVE BEEN MUCH WORSE IF THERE WERE CARS IN THE NEXT LANE, WHICH I HAD TO QUICKLY SWITCH INTO, TO AVOID AN ABRUPT BRAKING BY THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM IN THESE 2009 VW MODELS, AND WE FEEL SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED FURTHER.
DRIVING 60 MPH DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC ON HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY ENGINE REVED PRND LIGHTS STARTED BLINKING AND CAR HAD NO POWER. I MANAGED TO GET TO SHOULDER AND THE CAR WOULD DRIVE 20 MPH ON SHOULDER. FASTER THE ENGINE REVED. VW SAYS RECALL ON 2009 EOS DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER. I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF THE PEOPLE BEHIND ME DIDN'T MANAGE TO AVOID HITTING ME. VW WILL NOT ASSIST ME BECAUSE MY POWER TRAIN WARRANTY RAN OUT AT 100K MILES. MY CAR HAS 103K. I AM CONCERNED THAT MORE CARS WERE INVOLVED IN THE RECALL. FLASH OF DEATH ARTICLE BY ABC NEWS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED TO ME ON NOV 6 2015. VW SAYS MY CAR IS NOT AFFECTED. I DISAGREE.
THE ABS SYSTEM FAILED AFTER LESS THE 50,000. THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN ABOUT 40MPH WHEN TO FIRST OCCURRED.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL) HOWEVER, THE PARTS TO DO THE REPAIR WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN EOS. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO THE REVERSE POSITION, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO MOVE. THE GEAR SELECTOR BOX AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND OPERATED NORMALLY. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE DRIVING AT A SLOW SPEED, THE VEHICLE LOST POWER AND THE GEAR SHIFT BOX ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE FAILURES RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE TECHNICIANS STATED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT BOX, DUAL CLUTCH, AND TRANSMISSION POSSIBLY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 09V333000 (POWER TRAIN). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 79,000.
AT TIMES, THE VEHICLE WILL NOT GO INTO REVERSE. THE GEAR DISPLAY BLINKS AND THE VEHICLE MUST BE SHUT OFF BEFORE BEING ABLE TO EVENTUALLY GO IN REVERSE. I BROUGHT THE VEHICLE INTO A VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE CENTER AND WAS INFORMED OF THE EXTENDED WARRANTY REGARDING THE DSG. HOWEVER, VOLKSWAGEN HAS INFORMED ME THAT SINCE I DID NOT HAVE THE DSG SERVICED AT 40,000 MILES, IT WOULD NOT HONOR THE EXTENDED WARRANTY. I WAS NEVER INFORMED OR THE RECALL AND THE REQUIRED WORK WAS NEVER PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE DESPITE THE FACT THAT I PURCHASED IT IN OCTOBER 2012.
INTERMITTENT BRAKE,ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON WHILE DRIVING.

THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCKSPRING WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO WAS NOT ABLE TO REPLICATE THE FAILURE. ON ANOTHER OCCASION, WHILE AT A STOP AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL REQUIRED EXCESSIVE FORCE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED ON SEVERAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS AWAITING A DIAGNOSIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE CAR LURCHES FORWARD AND BUCKS ON FULL STOP AND TAKE OFF. I HAVE CONTACTED A VW DEALER AND GAVE ME A POSSIBLE FIX FOR 1800.92 BUT THIS MAY NOT FIX THE PROBLEM. IT MAY ALSO NEED A NEW CLUTCH. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM THAT VW IS AWARE OF BUT WILL NOT RECALL AND REPAIR. THIS COMPLAINT IS TO DOCUMENT THE PROBLEM ONCE AGAIN AND SUGGEST THAT VW BE MADE TO FIX THIS BEFORE SOMEONE IS KILLED IF THEY HAVEN'T ALREADY BEEN.
THE LEAKING ON THIS HISTORICALLY DEFECTIVE HARDTOP CONVERTIBLE HAS CAUSED YET ANOTHER PROBLEM. MY VEHICLE WAS ENTIRELY FLOODED, AND THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER SAY IT IS NEARLY A TOTAL LOSS. THIS HAS BEEN A CONTINUAL PROBLEM SINCE THE MODEL WAS INTRODUCED AND VOLKSWAGEN HAS DECLINED TO DEAL WITH IT. MY PARTICULAR CAR CAN BE DRIVEN RIGHT NOW, BUT MAY STOP RUNNING AT ANY TIME DUE TO THE WATER THAT HAS SEEPED INTO VITAL PARTS, SUCH AS BRAKES AND ENGINE. *TR

IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL ODOR OF FUEL WHEN DRIVING. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE ELECTRONIC POWER STEERING, ENGINE, AND AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE RECURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE THROTTLE BODY, COIL PACK, AND FUEL INJECTOR WERE REPLACED BUT THE REMEDY FAILED. THE MANUFACTURER WERE MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM BALTIMORE ON THE FREEWAY GOING ABOUT 70MPH AND THE VEHICLE STARTED LOSING SPEED AND NOTHING I DID WOULD GET IT TO GO AGAIN. I HAD TO PULL OVER PUT THE CAR IN PARK, SHUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN I WAS ABLE TO GO AGAIN. THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 6 MORE TIMES DRIVING HOME TO PITTSBURGH. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY "FIXED IT". IT WORKED FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT SO THEY PUT SEAFOAM IN MY CAR. IT HAPPENED SEVERAL MORE TIMES AND THEY HAD MY CAR FOR MONTHS. THEY THINK THE SEAFOAM HID THE PROBLEM FOR ALMOST A YEAR. THEY REPLACED FUEL INJECTORS AND THAT HELPED FOR ABOUT 400 MILES. THEN THEY REPLACED THE PART THAT IS THE EQUIVALENT OF A CAARBURETOR. THIS FIXED IT FOR ABOUT 5 MONTHS THIS TIME. I JUST MADE A TRIP TO CHICAGO AND THANK GOD THIS DID NOT HAPPEN THERE AS I WOULD HAVE BEEN KILLED. NOW I AM AT 85,000 AND IT JUST HAPPENED ON AUGUST 6, 2015. ONCE AGAIN VW CORPORATE IS NOT BEING OF MUCH ASSISTANCE. I WAS TOLD BY VW COPORATE IN FEBRUARY 2015 TO DUMP THE CAR AND THEY WOULD GIVE ME $1,000 OFF A NEW VW. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. THIS CAR IS NOT SAFE AND I AM NOT GETTING ANYWHERE WITH EITHER THE DEALER OR VW CORPORATE. I HAVE READ OTHER BLOGS AND I KNOW THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY EOS OWNER HAVING THIS PROBLEM. WILL THIS TAKE GM OR DODGE DEATHS TO GET SOMEONE'S ATTENTION? I REALLY HOPE I AM NOT THE PERSON KILLED.

THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO LUNGE FORWARD. THE ENTIRE INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE DIRECT SHIFT GEAR BOX WAS FAULTY AND REQUIRED THE REPLACEMENT OF THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V333000 (POWER TRAIN). THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 103,000.
AUGUST 2013: 2009 VW EOS ABRUPTLY LOST POWER, WOULD NOT ACCELERATE, AND THE DASHBOARD (PRND) FLASHED ERRATICALLY; HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE. A VW MASTER MECHANIC OF 14 YEARS TOLD ME THAT THE DSG TEMPERATURE SENSOR SHOULD BE REPAIRED AND MECHATRONICS UNIT SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED. HE ADVISED I TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER FOR THE RECALL/WARRANTY REPAIRS. PRESTIGE VW, TURNERSVILLE, NJ TOLD TO REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION (5700 DOLLARS), DUE TO "INTERNAL TRANSMISSION ISSUES". NO DEFINITIVE PROBLEM IDENTIFIED.I WAS THEN TOLD THEY WOULD CONTACT VWOA SO THEY "COULD GO TO BAT FOR ME" BECAUSE THEY UNDERSTAND THAT "NO ONE BUYS A VOLKSWAGEN EXPECTING THE TRANSMISSION TO GO AT 74K MILES". A CLAIM WOULD BE SUBMITTED ON MY BEHALF; DUE TO NEW VW POLICY THEY 'MUST' USE A THIRD-PARTY CLAIM SERVICE-VW WOULD NO LONGER ACCEPT DIRECT CLAIMS. I CALLED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND WAS PUT OFF EACH TIME PROMISED A RETURN CALL. IT HAS BEEN NEARLY 5 WEEKS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. I CALLED VWOA DIRECTLY, THEY INDICATED THAT THEY I) HAVE NO RECORD OF A CLAIM INITIATED BY THE DEALER; II) DO NOT REQUIRE DEALERS TO USE A THIRD-PARTY CLAIM SERVICE; AND III) RELY ON THEIR DEALERS' DETERMINATION OF PROBLEMS. I AM SERIOUSLY CONCERNED FOR MY AND MY CHILD'S SAFETY. LAST WEEK, MY CAR ABRUPTLY SLOWED IN 65MPH TRAFFIC ON ROUTE 295 IN NJ; I WAS ALMOST HIT BY A CAR BEHIND ME DUE TO THIS MALFUNCTION.VW REFUSES TO ADDRESS THIS;I HOPE THE NHTSA WILL TAKE ACTION AND ADDRESS THESE CONCERNS BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE TO THIS TRANSMISSION MALFUNCTIONING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN EOS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE ENGINE RPMS INCREASED AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FIFTEEN TIMES FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIANS REPLACED A FUSE IN THE POWER SUPPLY RELAY BUT WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE FURTHER FAILURES. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 38,514.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, WHEN TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP THEY SAY I HAVE A FAULTY INTAKE MANIFOLD RUNNER AND IT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. IF NOT THE VEHICLE MAY/WILL STALL. THIS SAME PART WAS RECALLED IN THE 2006-2008 MODELS OF THIS VEHICLE AND SEVERAL OTHERS. ARE THE 2009 MODELS AFFECTED? THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN MAINTAINED ALL MAINTENANCE HAS BEEN DONE TO MANUFACTURERS RECOMMENDATIONS. *TR
WHENEVER IT RAINS OR WHILE GOING THROUGH A CAR WASH, THE CONVERTIBLE TOP LEAKS BY DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW. VW MECHANICS HAVE ATTEMPTED TO FIX THE LEAK AT LEAST THREE TIMES AND TO DATE, HAVE NOT BEEN SUCCESSFUL. *TR
OUR 2009 EOS LUX WAS BEING DRIVEN AT A SLOW SPEED INTO A HEAD IN PARKING SPACE YESTERDAY. GAS PEDAL WAS BEING ENGAGED TO GET INTO THE SPACE WHEN CAR SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND RAPIDLY LUNGED FORWARD STRIKING TWO PARKED CARS IN THE PARKING ROW FACING THIS SPACE. PROPERTY DAMAGE ON THIS VEHICLE AND THE TWO VEHICLES STRUCK WAS SIGNIFICANT. THIS CAR HAD SUDDENLY JERKED FORWARD WHEN PULLING AWAY FROM A STOP AT AN INTERSECTION THE DAY BEFORE; AFTER THE SUDDEN JUMP FORWARD THE CAR RESUMED A NORMAL ACCELERATION. INSURER AND DEALER HAVE ASSURED US THEY WILL INVESTIGATE. THIS VEHICLE HAS A SERIOUS AND EXTREMELY DANGEROUS DEFECT AND WE WILL NOT DRIVE IT AGAIN UNLESS WE ARE CERTAIN THAT THE DEFECT IS IDENTIFIED AND CORRECTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN EOS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH HE ATTEMPTED TO ACCELERATE FURTHER BUT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESPOND. HE WAS ONLY ABLE TO DRIVE AT VERY LOW SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY 11 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AGAIN AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,400 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 11,000.
2009 VW EOS DGS TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO SLIP WHEN ACCELERATING INTO TRAFFIC. THERE WAS A BUMP LIKE THE CLUTCH ENGAGED, BUT THEN THERE WAS A MOMENTARY LOSS OF POWER (TORQUE) AND THEN ANOTHER BUMP LIKE THE CLUTCH FULLY ENGAGED. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD THE RECENT RECALL APPLIED ALREADY, AND WE'VE EXPERIENCED A PREVIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE PRNDS LIGHTS FLASHING (REPORTED ALREADY) AND THE TRANSMISSION DISENGAGING WHILE DRIVING 40MPH, AND ANOTHER INCIDENT WITH ONLY THE D LIGHT FLASHING, ALSO REMAINING IN NEUTRAL, FROM STOPPED WHILE TRYING TO LEAVE A PARKING SPOT. BOTH TIMES THE CAR HAD TO BE TURNED OFF & ON TO RESTORE THE TRANSMISSION TO OPERATIONAL CONDITION. THE VW DEALERSHIP WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY EVENTS IN THE CAR'S COMPUTER FOR ANY TRANSMISSION EVENTS. (PRESUMABLY AN ERROR BIG ENOUGH TO REMAIN IN NEUTRAL AND FLASH PRNDS OR D SHOULD AT THE MINIMUM LOG AN ERROR!) COMPLAINTS FOR PREVIOUS 2 INCIDENTS ARE 10290234 AND 10285719. THE DEALERSHIP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. *TR
2 INCIDENTS: SEPT 2009, DSG TRANSMISSION FLASHED PRNDS AND SHIFTED INTO LOW GEAR. OCT 21 2009, DSG TRANSMISSION FLASHED D AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL. IN THE 1ST INCIDENT, I WAS DRIVING ABOUT 45 MPH, AND HAD SHIFTED TO NEUTRAL. WHEN SHIFTING BACK TO DRIVE, THE DASHBOARD FLASHED THE PRNDS LIGHTS AT ME AND THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTED TO A VERY LOW GEAR (2ND?), MAKING THE CAR REDLINE AND SLOWING THE CAR ABRUPTLY ON A BUSY STREET. THE CAR WOULD NOT RESPOND CORRECTLY UNTIL TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED. (DANGEROUS WHILE DRIVING). IN THE 2ND INCIDENT, WHILE PARKED I SHIFTED FROM P TO D. THE CAR FLASHED D ON THE DASHBOARD AND REMAINED IN NEUTRAL. THERE WAS NO IMMEDIATE DANGER. AGAIN, I HAD TO TURN OFF THE CAR TO RESET THE PROBLEM. I DON'T KNOW IF DRIVE CAN BECOME DISENGAGED WHILE DRIVING THOUGH, PARTICULARLY SINCE I HAD THE PREVIOUS INCIDENT. *TR
WHEN DRIVING 2009 EOS, AFTER ACCELERATING I SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL, THEN SHIFTED BACK TO D A WHILE LATER. THE CAR WENT TO A LOW GEAR (LIKE 2ND) INAPPROPRIATE FOR MY SPEED, AND THE PRNDS INDICATORS ON THE DASHBOARD STARTED FLASHING. I WAS UNABLE TO RESTORE NORMAL OPERATION WITHOUT RESTARTING THE CAR. I SHIFTED BACK TO NEUTRAL AND TURNED THE CAR OFF, THEN ON, TO GET IT TO BEHAVE. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS WAS QUITE UNEXPECTED AND DANGEROUS IN TRAFFIC. I WOULD'VE NEEDED TO SLOW TO 20MPH OR SO IN A 40MPH AREA TO GET THE ENGINE RPMS TO A SPEED APPROPRIATE TO THE GEAR. I UNDERSTAND THAT YOU'RE ALREADY LOOKING INTO INCIDENTS WITH THIS TRANSMISSION, SO I THOUGHT I SHOULD PROVIDE AN ACCOUNT OF MY INCIDENT. *TR
THIS IS RELATED TO NHTSA ACTION NUMBER : PE09035 WHILE DRIVING, TRYING TO ACCELERATE FROM A STOP LIGHT AND THE CAR WOULDN'T GO. IT ACTED AS IF IT WERE IN NEUTRAL. ALSO NOTICED ON THE DASH COMPUTER WHERE IT SHOWS WHAT GEAR YOU'RE IN I.E. P,D,R - ALL OF THESE LIGHTS JUST FLASHED. ONLY WAY TO GE THE CAR MOVING AGAIN WAS TO TURN OFF THE IGNITION (IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD) AND RESTART THE CAR. I WAS THEN ABLE TO PROCEED WITH DRIVING. THIS INCIDENT WAS EXTREMELY SCARY AND I WAS ALMOST REAR-ENDED. THIS HAPPENED TWICE THE SAME DAY SO I IMMEDIATELY TOOK THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE. IT HAD ONLY BEEN DRIVEN A TOTAL OF 200 MILES UP UNTIL I TOOK THE CAR IN. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT CALLED BACK THE NEXT DAY AND SAID IT WAS A FAULTY TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE SENSOR WHILE IS NOW BEING REPLACED. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED THE CAR BACK YET. *TR

TRANSMISSION FAILS TO IMMEDIATELY ENGAGE AND / OR THERE IS A LAG OF AS MUCH AS 2-3 SECONDS FROM PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR UNDER LIGHT TO MODERATE ACCELERATION UNTIL THE VEHICLE BEGINS TO MOVE. VOLKSWAGEN EOS AUTOMATIC. LAST THURSDAY AUGUST 20TH I WAS MAKING A RIGHT TURN WHEN THE CAR SWITCHED INTO NEUTRAL CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME TO HIT THE BRAKES SO AS NOT TO HIT ME. MY CAR THEN SWITCHED INTO DRIVE AND LURCHED FORWARD CAUSING ME TO HIT TO BRAKES SO AS NOT TO HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THIS IS THE 3RD TIME SINCE I LEASED THE CAR ON JULY 19TH THAT THE CAR HAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN INTO DRIVE. VOLKSWAGEN KNEW OF THE PROBLEM AND YET NOBODY BOTHERED TO TELL ME THAT THE PROBLEM MIGHT EXIST. THE MANUFACTURER SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO INFORM ANY PROSPECTIVE CUSTOMER OF THE PROBLEM. NOW I HAVE A LEASE FOR 3 YEARS AND WHO KNOWS IF THE PROBLEM WILL BE FIXED IN A TIMELY MANNER OR NOT. CUSTOMER SHOULD HAVE THE RIGHT TO RETURN THE CAR AND RECEIVE BACK ALL MONIES PAID IF THE PROBLEM WAS NOT TOLD TO CUSTOMER. *TR
ON INITIAL ACCELERATION, CAR HESITATES AND DOES NOT SMOOTHLY ACCELERATE. THIS OCCURS WHETHER THE ENGINE IS COLD OR WARM AND OCCURS UNDER LIGHT TO MODERATE ACCELERATION. HESITATION IS ACCOMPANIED BY "STUTTERING SENSATION" AND ON OCCASION THERE IS AN ACTUAL DELAY FROM TIME OF PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR TO ACTUAL LAUNCH OF UP TO 3 SECONDS. *TR

I PURCHASED MY 2009 VW EOS ON AUGUST 30, 2008. ON SEPTEMBER 29, 2008 AFTER ONLY APPROXIMATELY 1,300 MILES, A VALVE THAT MEASURES THE TEMPERATURE OF THE CLUTCH MALFUNCTIONED. AS A "SAFETY" PRECAUTION THE TRANSITION WILL NOT CHANGE GEARS IF THE CLUTCH TEMPERATURE IS TOO HIGH. THIS VALVE MALFUNCTIONED WHILE I WAS ON THE FREEWAY. THE CAR OPERATED AS THOUGH I PUT IT IN NEUTRAL AND REVVED THE ENGINE. ONCE OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC IT TOOK ME THREE TRIES TO RESTART MY CAR. I PROCEEDED TO EXIT THE FREEWAY AND GET TO A SAFER DESTINATION. WHILE DOING SO THIS MALFUNCTION OCCURRED TWO MORE TIMES. UPON TAKING MY CAR TO THE DEALER TO BE REPAIRED I WAS INITIALLY TOLD THAT THE ENGINE SWITCH MALFUNCTIONED. ONLY UPON DEMANDING TO SPEAK WITH THE HEAD MECHANIC AND BEING ASKED TO FULLY DESCRIBE THE SITUATION THAT THE TRUE PROBLEM WAS DISCOVERED. IT WAS MADE CLEAR TO ME THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. SUBSEQUENTLY, THE MALFUNCTIONING VALE CAUSES A PRESSURE PROBLEM IN THE TRANSITION. I AM ANTICIPATING THIS PROBLEM TO OCCUR AGAIN AND HAVE ALREADY CONSULTED WITH A LAWYER FOR LEMON LAW. *TR
