The drivers seat moves by it's self while driving. And apparently while it is parked which runs the battery dead
The transmissions are bad on these cars and when it's shifting gears it jerks and almost takes you off the road. I've had my car completely stop as I was driving and almost cause a wreck hurting myself in the process of not trying to kill someone walking because these cars are KNOWN TO HAVE THIS PROBLEM THERE WAS AN ENTIRE LAWSUIT AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. Please help if there is a recall done I can get the car fixed and continue working as an in-home caregiver. I am currently out of work because IT IS NOT SAFE TO TRANSPORT CLIENTS IN THAT DEATH TRAP. The mechanic said the entire transmission is built to brake and it's not a new problem these cars are bad.
The contact owns a 2005 VOLKSWAGEN Jetta equipped with Supermax Tm-1 205/55r16 Tires. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds the front driver tire began to have a vibrating sensation after a month of being placed on the vehicle Within a few days the tire began to bounce becoming unsafe to operate. The contact returned to Walmart to be advised to order online and have it shipped. The mechanic stated there was tread separation. The left front tire was replaced with a different brand tire the right front tire began to display the same issue. The vehicle was returned where the tire was replaced with another brand tire. The rear tire (unsure left or right) had since been displaying the same failure. The manufacturer for the tire was made aware of the failure. The vehicle failure mileage was 93,869 the tire failure mileage was approximately 4,494.
MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT, SHE HIT A GUARD RAIL AND LOST CONTROL AFTER SPINNING AND HITTING TWO MORE GUARD RAILS THE NEVER DEPLOYED. MY DAUGHTER SUFFERED A CLOSE HEAD INJURY AND FACIAL LACERATIONS. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSE, WHY DIDNT HER AIR BAGS GO OFF ? IS SO SHE MAY HAVE NOT SUSTAINED SUCH INJURIES.
MY CAR WHILE PARKED AND THE ENGINE GOING WILL STOP. ALSO WHEN I'M ON THE FREEWAY THE EPC LIGHT WILL TURN ON AND FEEL LIKE I HAVE A LOSS OF POWER AND IT FEELS LIKE IT IS ACCELERATING. MY MECHANIC HAS NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON WITH MY CAR.
STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS (RANDOM DASHBOARD LIGHTS, DOORS, LOCKS, WINDOWS WOULDN'T WORK, KEY FOB BATTERY DIED, ETC) THEN I HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY. CONTINUED ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH NEW BATTERY, PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW/DOOR WOULDN'T OPERATE OR WORK AT ALL. NEEDED MASTER KEY FOB TO LOCK DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR BUT ALL OTHER DOORS WOULDN'T LOCK WITH FOB. NEXT, I AM HAVING ISSUES WITH THE CAR NOT STARTING, PUT ANOTHER BATTERY IN IT. FROM THERE RANDOM DASHBOARD LIGHTS, DINGING WITH DRL AND FIRST FEW MINUTES OF OPERATING VEHICLE, AND AIRBAGS LIGHTS ARE ON. MY MECHANIC SENDS ME TO A MECHANIC SHOP THAT SPECIALIZES IN VW. MECHANIC REPLACES WINDOW MANAGER AND DRIVER SIDE DOOR HARNESS. STILL FIND ISSUES WITH AIRBAGS SO I TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP IN ST PETERS MO DURING A SNOW STORM. HAND THEM ALL MY PAPERWORK, THEY GO IN AND FIND THAT MY CAR IS BEING WORKED ON AND SEE THAT THEIR ARE SPLICES, CONNECTIONS BUTTED, SO THEY "FIX" THE AIRBAGS AND SEND ME ON MY WAY. HOWEVER, I HAVE A TODDLER IN THE BACKSEAT AND SHE WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOORS WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, THE WINDOWS STOPPED WORKING, ETC. DEALERSHIP CANNOT SPEAK TO OTHER MECHANIC SHOP'S WORK SO THEY DID THE RECALLS NEEDED (AIRBAGS) AND REPLACED THE HARNESS, APPARENTLY AGAIN. I HAVE ALL THE RECEIPTS FROM THE WORK, ALL THE PARTS ARE IN MY TRUNK OF MY CAR, ANOTHER APPOINTMENT TO SEE WHAT THE ISSUE IS. CAR APPEARS TO BE STUCK IN SECURITY MODE BUT DOESN'T PROPERLY LOCK, NOT ABLE TO USE CHILD LOCK, AND UNABLE TO PROTECT VEHICLE SAFELY WITH PROPER LOCKING MECHANISM. I DON'T FEEL SAFE IF THERE IS AN INTRUDER OR IF MY TODDLER WERE TO TRY THIS STUNT AGAIN, ALSO CONCERNED OF THE FUEL ISSUES I'VE BEEN HAVING. REPLACED MY GAS CAP IN HOPES I WOULDN'T SEE LOSS OF FUEL, AND THE CAR HAS A SLIGHT OIL LEAK THAT NO MECHANIC CAN SEEM TO FIND. UNABLE TO ATTACH PAPERWORK AS THE DEALERSHIP HAS IT AT THIS TIME.

THERE WERE NO INJURIES SUSTAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. THE CONTACT WAS UNSURE IF A POLICE REPORT OR FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE DEALER MIKE HAGGERTY VOLKSWAGEN (8920 S CICERO AVE, OAK LAWN, IL 60453 (708) 425-8989) TOLD THE CONTACT TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO CALL THE DEALER. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
ENGINE MISFIRES WHILE DRIVING OR ACCELERATING OR SLOWING. THEN VEHICLE VIBRATES AND STALLS. INTERMITTENT AND WITHOUT WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH. VW GARAGE COULD NOT SOLVE THIS PROBLEM APRIL 11, 2019 AND MAY 7 TO 11,2019. VEHICLE HAD RECALL ON COILS APPROXIMATELY 2011 AND COILS WERE REPLACED BUT ONE FAILED FEW MONTHS LATER AND MANUFACTURER REPLACED IT. MILEAGE NOW IS SLIGHTLY BELOW 40,000. VEHICLE HAS STALLED WHILE DRIVING TWICE AND NOT TRUSTWORTHY. POLICEMAN HELPED MOVE VEHICLE OFF ROAD ONCE VOLKSWAGEN GARAGE ADVISED KEEP DRIVING TO SEE IF PROBLEM CONTINUES AFTER THEY SWITCHED TWO COIL WIRES. IT HAS NOT STOPPED MISFIRING OF ENGINE.
SECONDARY AIR INJECTION SYSTEM - ONGOING ISSUE.. NO READING FOR SMOG CHECK
THE TRANSMISSION IS TERRIBLY MADE. THERE IS ALSO AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL INJECTION THAT DOES NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO RECEIVE THE CORRECT FUEL AS WELL AS THE GAS TANK. THE CAR JERKS BECAUSE OF THE GAS TANK AND THE CODES READ AD IF THE CAP NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT THE WHOLE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED.
2005 VW.JETTA - VIN# [XXX]. THE TRANSMISSION SHIFTS HARD & DOWN SHIFT HARD WHEN THE CAR HAS RUN FOR A PERIOD OF TIME DURING TRAVEL. ALSO, THE FAULTY AIR BAG LIGHT COMES ON WHEN THE CAR IS FIRST STARTED AND MAY SHOW INTERMITTENTLY WHILE DRIVING. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER & 02 SENSOR HAVE BEEN REPLACED BUT THE CODES STILL SHOW WHEN PUT ON THE MACHINE. THE IGNITION KEY GETS STUCK IN THE IGNITION. MY CAR HAVES ALL THE GEARS HIGHLIGHTED ON THE DISPLAY AND OCCASIONALLY WHEN I'M DRIVING IT GETS STUCK ON A LOW GEAR WHEN I COME TO A COMPLETE STOP AND TRY TO START GOING OR IF IM IN THE HIGHWAY IT ALL OF A SUDDEN DECIDES TO SHIFT TO NEUTRAL GEAR MAKING ME SLOW DOWN ALL OF A SUDDEN WITH POTENTIAL TO HIT THE PERSON BEHIND ME OR CREATING A CATASTROPHIC ACCIDENT WITH MANY INJURIES OR EVEN DEATH TO DOES I MIGHT HIT JUST BECAUSE OF MY FAULTY TRANSMISSION AND I HAVE LOOK UP THE PROBLEM AND THERE ARE MANY PEOPLE WITH THE SAME TRANSMISSION TROUBLE THE NHTSA SEND A RECALL FOR THE 2009-2010 BUT THE PREVIOUS MODELS HAVE ALSO THE SAME PROBLEMS FOR IT SO PLEASE AT LEAST OPEN AN INVESTIGATION ABOUT IT SO THAT WAY ME AND MY FELLOW DRIVERS UNDERSTAND THE PROBLEM THAT KEEPS GOING ON.

THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO RESTART THE VEHICLE APPROXIMATELY FOUR TIMES, BUT NOTICED FLAMES COMING FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED MINOR BURNS TO THE RIGHT ARM THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE. A POLICE AND A FIRE REPORT WERE FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED TO BE A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER AND DEALER WERE NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 139,000.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG YESTERDAY AND THE WARNING LIGHT FOR "AIR BAG" CAME ON. I RESEARCHED THIS AND ACCORDING TO OTHER CONSUMER BLOGS, A LOT OF CAR OWNERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. I DON'T SEE A JETTA RECALL - BUT THERE SHOULD BE ONE!!!

I AM REPORTING A SAFETY CONCERN FOR VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2005.5. MY JETTA RECENTLY STARTED HAVING BRAKE PROBLEMS DUE TO THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER ON 8/4/2017 I HAD TO FORCE MY CAR OFF THE ROAD FROM HITTING MULTIPLE VEHICLES DUE TO THE MASTER BRAKE CYLINDER FAILING. VOLKSWAGEN IS VERY AWARE OF THIS ISSUE I HAVE DONE RESEARCH IN FOUND COMPLAINTS AS WELL AS RECALLS BUT WAS TOLD THEY COULDN'T HELP ME THE FUEL LINE HAS ALSO FAILED AFTER REPLACING IT CAUSING A GAS SMELL THROUGH OUT THE VEHICLE WHEN STARTING AFTER PUMPING GAS. I RECENTLY STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE VALVE BODY DAMAGED THIS IS A BIG SAFETY CONCERN FOR MY SELF IN OTHERS WHO OWN THE SAME VEHICLE THE VALVE BODY DAMAGED CAUSES THE CAR TO SLIP IN HEAVY TRAFFIC LEADING UP TO A CAR ACCIDENT. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THIS ISSUE WITH COMPLAINTS THEY DID ADD EXTENDED WARRANTY TO END 100,000 MILES. BACK IN 2005 LEADING UP TO 2014 THERE ARE MULTIPLE 2005.5 JETTAS AROUND NASHVILLE WITH THE SAME ISSUES. BUT VOLKSWAGEN WILL NOT HELP FIX THE PROBLEM OF THE SAFETY OF THERE CUSTOMERS
TAKATA RECALL. MY VOLKSWAGON JETTA GLS ENGINE KEEPS ON MISFIRING FOR SOME REASON NO MATTER WHAT WORK I PUT INTO IT.
I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT ISSUES WITH MY 2005 JETTA SINCE PURCHASING IT A LITTLE OVER A YEAR AGO. THE FIRST ISSUE WAS LOSS OF POWER WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING ME TO ALMOST BE STRUCK BY OTHER VEHICLES WHILE TURNING AT INTERSECTIONS. CAUSE: THE FUSE BOX ONTOP OF BATTERY MELTED, ALONG WITH THE FUSES AND GROUND WIRE. THEN THE COOLANT RESEVOIR HAD TO BE REPLACED. DUE TO THE FANS NOT TURNING ON BECAUSE OF THOSE FUSES MELTING. THEN, THEN RADIATOR. THEN THE BREAK PUMP, EXAUST MANIFOLD GASKET BLEW. THE THING RECENTLY WASNI HAD NO BREAK LIGHTS. WENT TO CHANGE BULBS. KEPT BREAKING THE FUSES. THEN STUCK IN PARK. SAW A RECALL LISTED FOR FAULTY BREAK SWITCH. CALLED VW THEY STATED MY RECAL HAD ALREADY BEEN SERVICED. SO SORRY IT WAS UP TO ME TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. TOLD THEM OF EVERY OTHER ISSUE. THEY SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. BASICALLY I BOUGHT A VERY UNREALIABLE, UNSAFE, PIECE OF GARBAGE. THAT I ASSUMED WAS COMPLETELY OPPOSITE FOR MYSELF SND MY TWO SMALL CHILDREN TO BE DEPENDANT UPON GETTING US SAFELY PLACE TONPLACE.
AXLE BOLTS WORKED LOOSE AND AXLE PUNCTURED TRANSMISSION HOUSING ON DRIVERS SIDE WITH OUT WARNING.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE ENGINE STALLED IN THE SHOP'S PARKING LOT AND THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT NOTICED A STRONG FUEL ODOR COMING THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER (LAFONTAINE VOLKSWAGEN LOCATED AT 2200 S TELEGRAPH RD, DEARBORN, MI 48124; (313) 996-6000) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE TIMING BELT AND ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED FOR THE FUEL ODOR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AT 800-822-8987 AND STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT BE RESPONSIBLE FOR REPAIRING THE VEHICLE. CASE NUMBER: 170791374 WAS PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.
ENGINE SHUTS OFF WHILE DRIVING. WHEN PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR, ENGINE WILL SPORADICALLY SHUT OFF AND THE CAR WILL NEED TO BE STOPPED AND RESTARTED. NO ERROR CODES COME FROM THE COMPUTER AND THE PROBLEM IS NOT REPLICABLE AT THE DEALERSHIP OR AT AUTO SHOPS. THE VEHICLE IS EITHER STATIONARY OR IN MOTION, THE DECIDING FACTOR IS THE ACCELERATOR BEING PUSHED.

WE HAVE A 2005.5 VW JETTA AND HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING HARD SHIFTING WHILE DRIVING FOR ABOUT A YEAR AND HALF . MORE RECENTLY THE GEARS ARE STALLING TO SHIFT WE WERE DRIVING IN A LOCAL STREET WHEN OUR CAR WOULD NOT SHIFT INTO 4TH GEAR THE ENGINE WOULD REV BUT WOULD NOT SHIFT. IT IS VERY UNSAFE FOR THIS TO HAPPEN WHEN YOU ARE ON BUSY ROADS OR MERGING ON TO HIGHWAYS ETC. WE HAVE NOT USED OUR CAR SINCE AND OUR MECHANIC TOLD US IT WAS U SAFE TO DRIVE. I CAN'T BELIEVE VW HAS NOT TAKEN OWNERSHIP FOR THERE MISTAKE AND MAKE A RECALL. OUR CAR JUST PASSED 100,000K AND SHOULD NOT BE HAVING THIS PROBLEM . TO FIX THE PROBLEM WE WERE TOLD ITS THE VALVE BODY AND THE PART ITSELF IS $1,200 NOT INCLUDING LABOR COST.
FOR THE PAST YEAR I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR TO VW SHOPS AND HIGHLY RATED TOP VW SHOPS IN LA . MY CAR WAS DYING IF I DIDN'T DRIVE IT EVER DAY. I HAD MY CAR IN THE SHOP FOR OVER A MONTH AND AFTER DOING ELECTRICAL CHECKS, GIVING ME AN ALTERNATOR, REPLACING COUNTLESS BATTERIES THE PROBLEM IS STILL TO THIS DAY UNSOLVED.IN THE PAST 6 MONTHS THINGS HAVE BECOME WORSE AND CAN LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT IF NOT FIXED. MY CAR HAS BEEN DECELERATING WHILE I AM DRIVING ON THE ROAD, IT HAPPENS AT ALL DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND IS RANDOM. THE CAR WILL LOCK UP SO THAT I CAN NOT MAKE IT PICK UP SPEED WHEN IT STARTS DECELERATING AND THEN OUT OF NO WHERE IT WILL WORK AGAIN BUT INSTEAD OF LETTING ME GRADUALLY INCREASE THE SPEED IT BLASTS OFF IN AN UNCONTROLLABLE MANNER. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS AND I HAVE TRIED TO GET THIS FIXED AND DIAGNOSED BUT NO ONE NOT EVEN VW HAS ANY IDEA WHAT IS HAPPENING BECAUSE EVERY TIME I TAKE IT TO THE SHOP IT SOMEHOW DOESN'T HAPPEN. NOW IN THE PAST WEEK MY CAR IS TAKING IT TO THE NEXT LEVEL WITH THE DECELERATION AND ACCELERATION BUT ON TOP OF THAT NOW IT IS JUST DYING WHILE I AM DRIVING IT AFTER DOING THE JERKY THING. I LITERALLY WAS DRIVING ON THE HWY AND IT JERKED A COUPLE OF TIMES AND THEN THE CAR JUST DIED WHILE DRIVING AND THE BRAKES AND STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP. I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER BUT IT WAS ABSOLUTELY TERRIFYING AND I COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED! THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND I TURNED OFF THE CAR. WHEN I TRIED TO TURN IT BACK ON IT STARTED UP LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. I THEN TRIED TO DRIVE TO SAFETY BUT IT WOULD DIE OVER AND OVER AGAIN. I JUST FOUND OUT ABOUT THIS SITE AND I DECIDED TO READ SOME REPORTS. TURNS OUT THERE ARE 100S OF OTHER CASES JUST LIKE MINE. WHY THEN DOES VW ACT LIKE THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR. APPARENTLY THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET THEM TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT IS TO HAVE A TRAGEDY! SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. PLEASE HELP!!!!
FUSE BOX ON THE TOP OF THE BATTERY CAUGHT FIRE AND MELTED THE FUSIBLE LINK FROM THE ALTERNATOR TO THE BATTERY CONNECT. GOING AT 40 MILES PER HOUR AND CAR SHUTS OFF, NO BRAKES NO POWER ALL ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS OFF DASH LIT UP LIKE CHRISTMAS TREE. THANK GOD FOR THE DITCH AND THAT WE WEREN'T ON INTERSTATE OTHERWISE SOMEONE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED OR INJURED SUCH AS MY PREGNANT WIFE.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT ON DASH HAS BEEN ON SINCE LAST FALL 2015. DEALER SAYS CAR WILL STILL PASS INSPECTION WITH LIGHT ON. I'M WONDERING IF THERE IS A RECALL ON THIS.
I HAVE AN EARLY MODEL MKV TDI JETTA , WITH AROUND 87,000 MILES ON IT. YESTERDAY, ON THE WAY HOME, THE DSG DUAL MASS FLYWHEEL LET GO WITH PIECES OF METAL COMING OUT ONTO THE ROAD AND TRAFFIC. I LOOKED UP THIS ON THE TDICLUB SITE AND FOUND NUMEROUS ISSUES WITH THIS PART IN EARLY PRODUCTION, WHICH IS NOT PART OF MAINTENANCE. IS THERE A SAFETY RECALL OR OTHER TSB ON THIS? I CANT DRIVE THE CAR AND JUST MADE IT HOME. IT WAS SCAREY.

WHILE DRIVING AND AIRBAGS DEPLOYED, CAUSE WINDSHIELD TO BREAK AND LOSE CONTROL OF CAR.
DRIVERS SIDE WINDOWS AND DOOR LOCKS WON'T WORK. WARNING INDICATOR SAYING DOOR/S ARE OPEN AND WARNING BEEP WILL NOT STOP UNTIL KEY REMOVED FROM IGNITION. CONTINUES TO DO THIS EVEN WHILE DRIVING WILL ALL DOORS PROPERLY CLOSED AND SEAT BELTS FASTENED. CAR BEGAN TO STUTTER AND LOSE POWER WHILE ON I95 DOING HIGHWAY SPEED. PROCEEDED TO DO IT MULTIPLE TIMES. ONCE I GOT OFF THE HIGHWAY IT LOST POWER AND SHUT DOWN COMPLETELY. I LET THE CAR SIT FOR AN HOUR AND IT STARTED BACK UP WORKING FINE. HAPPENED AGAIN 3 HOURS LATER. HAPPENED THE ENTIRE WEEK IN FLORIDA ON VACATION. ONCE THE CAR GOT BACK INTO COOLER WEATHER PROBLEM WENT AWAY UNTIL TWO DAYS AGO WHEN IT WAS ABOUT 70 DEGREES OUT. HAPPENED ON I97 DOING 60 MPH. I MANAGED TO GET OFF THE HIGHWAY ONCE AGAIN TO HAVE MY CAR DIE IN THE MIDDLE OF ROUTE 2. IT DID NOT DO IT FOR MY MECHANIC WHO HAD IT FOR 2 WEEKS. TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO THE DEALERSHIP TODAY AND THEY CONCLUDED THAT MY TIMING CHAIN NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF $3700(PARTS&LABOR). I HAVE HAD THE CAR FOR 9 YEARS AND HAVE APPROX 65000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE HAD OIL CHANGES EVERY 5000 MILES AS WELL AS ALL RECOMMEND FACTORY MAINTENANCE. SINCE MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA STATES THAT THE TIMING CHAIN SHOULD BE REPLACED EVERY 10 YEARS/100,000 MILES THEY REFUSED TO HELP WITH COVERING ANY COST OF THE REPAIRS. UPON SEARCHING THE INTERNET IT HAS BECOME CLEAR THAT THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH THE 05/06 VOLKSWAGEN ENGINES YET THEY REFUSE TO ADMIT IT. I HAVE BEEN HAVING ISSUES ON MY 2005.5 VW JETTA FOR THE LAST SEVERAL MONTHS WITH IT SHIFTING HARD OR NOT GOING INTO GEAR. IT HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN, SO MUCH TO THE POINT THAT I WILL NOT LET MY DAUGHTER OR WIFE DRIVE THE CAR AS I DO NOT FEEL IT IS SAFE FOR THEM. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH ONLINE, IT APPEARS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE AND VW IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM, BUT SO FAR NOT WILLING TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND SHOULD NOT TAKE A PERSON DYING FOR THEM TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. I HAVE BEEN A LOYAL VW OWNER FOR YEARS, BUT AM NOT WILLING TO RISK THE LIFE OF MY FAMILY FOR A COMPANY WHO DOES NOT CARE ABOUT THEIR CONSUMERS. CAR TAKEN TO VW DEALERSHIP, TOLD IT WAS THE TIMING BELT, ESTIMATE REPAIR $2700 NOT GUARANTEE THAT WOULD FIX THE PROBLEM. TOTAL ENGINE REPLACEMENT $6400. THE WIRING HARNESS OF THE DRIVER'S DOOR FAILED, WHICH PREVENTS THE LEFT TURN SIGNAL, WINDOWS, DOOR LOCKS AND GAS FILL DOOR FROM FUNCTIONING. THE CAR BECOMES UNSAFE SINCE THE LEFT SIGNAL WILL NOT WORK AND THE WINDOW WILL NOT OPERATE SO THE DRIVER CAN DO A MANUAL SIGNAL. VW HAS ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THE ISSUE STATING THAT THE ORIGINAL WIRING HARNESS IS TOO SHORT AND BREAKS CAUSING THIS ISSUE, BUT THEY REFUSE TO RECALL THE CAR AND FIX THE PROBLEM. A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT HAS BEEN FILED ON THIS ISSUE, AND IS CLOSE TO SETTLEMENT, BUT WILL ONLY COVER CARS LESS THAN 8.5 YEARS OLD. MOST OF THE CARS EFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE, 2005 AND 2006 MODEL YEARS, ARE OLDER THAN 8.5 YEARS SO VW WILL NOT FIX THEM. SOMETIME IN 2013, I RECEIVED A NOTICE FROM VOLKSWAGEN THAT I NEEDED TO BRING MY 2005 JETTA IN TO HAVE THE DRIVER'S SEAT WIRING HARNESS REPAIRED DUE TO A RECALL. I HAD NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR BAGS OR WARNING LIGHTS. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN AND THEY DID THE WORK. WITHIN A MONTHS, I GOT AN ERROR MESSAGE IN THE DISPLAY THAT THERE WAS A FAILURE WITH THE AIR BAGS. THE AIRBAG WENT OFF BUT IN 2014 THE LIGHT CAME BAG AGAIN. I WAS TOLD IT WAS NOT RELATED TO THE WIRING HARNESS AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY AT A COST OF ABOUT $700. I DID NOT PERSUE THE ISSUE I THOUGHT IT WAS WIRING ISSUE BUT IT IS NOT. MY FUEL TANK EXPLODED ON MY 2005 JETTA WAGON TDI. I WAS FILLING THE TANK UP WITH DIESEL AND ALL OF SUDDEN DIESEL FUEL STARTING GUSHING OUT FROM UNDERNEATH THE CAR. THE BACKSEAT BULGED UP SO MUCH THAT I COULD NOT LIFT IT UP. THE UNDERNEATH PART OF THE CAR HAS BEEN DAMAGED AS WELL. I CONTACTED VW AND WAS TOLD TO TAKE THE CAR TO A LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP. VW HEADQUARTERS HAS INFORMED ME THAT THEY WILL COVER THE COST OF PARTS, $900, BUT THEY WILL NOT PAY FOR THE CONSEQUENT DAMAGES WHICH HAVE BEEN ESTIMATED TO BE OVER $4,000, DAMAGES CAUSED BY THE EXPANSION OF THE FUEL TANK. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE CAR IS WORTH ONLY ABOUT $5,000, BUT THAT WAS WITH A WORKING FUEL SYSTEM, I'M SURE. VW HEADQUARTERS ALSO GAVE ME THE OPTION OF RECEIVING A $1,000 LOYALTY VOUCHER SHOULD I CHOOSE TO PURCHASE/LEASE A NEW CAR THROUGH THEM. I'VE BEEN INFORMED THAT THESE TWO OFFERS ARE GOOD FOR 30 DAYS FROM THE DATE OF 6/19/2014. AFTER DOING RESEARCH, I DO BELIEVE THAT THIS SAME PROBLEM HAS BEEN REPORTED TO THE NHTSA IN THE PAST BY ANOTHER INDIVIDUAL IN NORTH CAROLINA. THIS INDIVIDUAL'S CLAIM TO VW WAS ORIGINALLY DENIED BY VW, BUT LATER, VW REIMBURSED HIM FOR ALL EXPENSES TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 122,000.
WIRE HARNESS IN BOTH FRONT DOORS ARE BROKEN DUE TO SHORT WIRES AND THE PURGE VALVE IS ALSO BROKEN AND THE OVER HEAD LIGHT IS FAULTY AND I FEEL LIKE THE 2005 -2006 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA 2.5 SHOULD BE RECALLED DUE TO FAULTY WIRING IN THE VEHICLE AND VOLKSWAGEN IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM BUT WILL NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE AND I THINK THEY SHOULD AT LEAST FIX THE PROBLEM FOR THE CONSUMER.
