THE DRIVER HEATED SEAT GOT SO HOT THAT THERE IS NOW A BURN MARK ON MY SEAT AND CAUSED INJURY TO MY BACK. I HAVE A BLISTER, THAT TURNED NOW INTO A SMALLER BLISTER AND IS BLACK. I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW BACK IN 2007 AND HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. IF I LOWER THE HEAT SETTING FOR THE SEAT THE SEAT IS STILL VERY HOT. SOMETIMES I CAN SMELL SOMETHING BURNING, WHICH SMELLS ELECTRICAL. I HAVE PICTURES FOR EVIDENCE OF WHAT HAS TAKEN PLACE. *TR
BACK RIGHT SIDE PASSENGER DOOR LOCK FAILS TO LOCK DEALERSHIP SAID 9 TIMES OUT OF 10 IT IS THE LOCK MODULE THAT MALFUNCTIONS AND IS VERY COMMON IN JETTA'S. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRUNK WOULD OPEN WITHOUT ACTIVATION INDEPENDENTLY AND WOULD IMPAIR HIS VISION IF IT OPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION. THE DEALER ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE VEHICLE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 50,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
A LIGHT CAME ON THE DASHBOARD WITH THE ICON OF THE AIRBAG. I LOOKED IT UP AND FOUND THAT IT WAS A WARNING LIGHT TELLING ME THAT THE SENSORS IN THE SEAT THAT DETECT SOMEONE SITTING IN THE SEAT WERE FAULTY AND COULD RESULT IN AIRBAGS NOT DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF AN IMPACT. OTHER OWNERS OF VW JETTAS FROM 2007 AND YEARS BEFORE AND AFTER HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS. THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL ALTHOUGH MANY OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, THINK THERE SHOULD BE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT DROVE OVER AN UNEVEN ROAD SURFACE, WHICH WAS RAISED ABOUT 2 INCHES FROM THE GROUND, AND THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAGS INADVERTENTLY DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THERE WERE AFTERMARKET SHOCKS THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED AN IMPACT WITH THE SUB FRAME. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE IMPACT COULD HAVE CAUSED THE AIR BAGS TO DEPLOY BUT DID NOT GUARANTEE THAT IT WAS THE CAUSE OF THE DEPLOYMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE COST OF DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS WOULD NOT BE COVERED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 51,608.
2007 WOLFSBURG EDITION JETTA: EXPERIENCING ISSUES LATCHES/LOCKS/LINKAGES/ FIRST WITH ONE DOOR LOCK (REAR LEFT) AROUND SEP 2011. THEN 2ND DOOR (REAR ) WARRANTY ALREADY PASSED, THE DEALER TOLD ME THAT THE LOCKS CAN GO BAD AND NEED TO BE REPLACED, COSTING $250/$200 EACH PLUS LABOR $100 HR./3 HRS OR $300!! FOR GRAND TTL ALMOST $800! REPLACEMENT. NOW I ALREADY HAVING PROBLEM WITH DRIVER DOOR!! THIS SEEMS EXCESSIVE SPECIALLY VW SHOULD ADDRESS THIS QUALITY ISSUE WITH THEIR SUPPLIER NOW AND HAVE THEM FIXED AT NO COST. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE DRIVE FOR WORK AROUND SOME NOT NICE NEIGHBORHOODS, CAR CAN'T BE LOCK. I HAVE 2 KIDS AND AFRAID DOOR CAN OPEN SO EASILY. I HOPE SOMETHING IS DONE BEFORE WE HEAR REALLY BAD NEWS. THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE AS THE LOCKS SERVE AS THE FIRST LINE OF DEFENSE IN ANTI-THEFT. I SEARCHING ONLINE AND SEE OTHERS WITH SIMILAR ISSUES, I DECIDED TO REPORT, I STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH LOCK. WAS ACCELERATING ONTO THE EXPRESSWAY DURING RUSH HOUR FROM FULL STOP AT ON RAMP DUE TO TRAFFIC CONGESTION AND AT AROUND 20 OR SO MPH THE CAR LOSS POWER AND THE RPM QUICKLY INCREASED AS IF YOU WERE PRESSING THE CLUTCH IN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE, THIS IS A AUTOMATIC VEHICLE SO THE ISSUE WAS DEFINITELY CAUSED BY A MALFUNCTION SOMEWHERE WITHIN THE DRIVEN TRAIN OR ELECTRICAL SENSORS CONTROLLING THE DRIVE TRAIN. SINCE THAT TIME THIS FRIGHTENING ISSUE HAS BEEN INCREASING IN FREQUENCY. THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED BEFORE SOMEONE IS INJURED. STALLING ON HIGHWAY, LOCAL ROADS. *TR
POOR OBD ON 2007 VW JETTA FOR ENGINE SPEED SENSOR. [XXX] IS THE VIN OF THE CAR, RECENTLY THE ENGINE BEGIN TO STALL/DIE SOON AFTER STARTING, UNABLE TO HOLD THE IDLE SPEED BUT THERE WAS NO MIL/CHECK ENGINE LIGHT, UPON SEVERAL ATTEMPTS IT USED TO RUN FINE IT CONTINUED FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. ONE FINE DAY MY WIFE AND 2.5 MONTH BABY WERE DRIVING ON I-75 SOUTH TO DETROIT DOWNTOWN AND CAR STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FREEWAY- IT JUST STOPPED FOR NO REASON NO MIL OR CHECK ENGINE LIGHT EVEN AFTER THESE EVENTS. IT CAME BACK UP RUNNING AGAIN AFTER SHE WAS ABLE TO START THE ENGINE AGAIN. ON THE SAME DAY WHILE SHE WAS DRIVING BACK FROM THE OFFICE IT STOPPED WHILE GETTING OUT OF THE PARKING LOT AGAIN NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT. IT WAS THE SCARIEST DAY, WE TOWED THE CAR BACK HOME EVEN THOUGH IT WAS STARTING AGAIN DUE TO THE FACT THAT THERE WAS SOMETHING SERIOUSLY WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ON 25TH MARCH 2011 I STARTED THE CAR IN THE MORNING THEN I SAW THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON DASH BOARD FOR THE FIRST TIME, AND DROPPED IT OFF AT FOX AUTOMOTIVE DEALER IN ROCHESTER HILLS MI. WHERE THEY WERE NOT COURTEOUS IN DEALING WITH THIS PROBLEM, AND FOUND THE ENGINE SPEED SENSOR [CRANK ANGLE SENSOR] WAS FOUND BROKEN, REPLACEMENT OF THE SAME SEEM TO HAVE RESOLVED THE ISSUE. HOWEVER THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE OBD DID NOT WORK WHEN IT SAW SEVERAL MISFIRES AND ENGINE SPEED ISSUES, WHICH COULD HAVE PREVENTED MY WIFE AND BABY NOT TO DRIVE TO WORK ON FREEWAY, THIS IS A SERIOUS CONCERN. IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT VW DEALER SHOULD ALSO ADDRESS SUCH SERIOUS ISSUES WITH SOME CONCERN AND IMPORTANCE WHERE THEY DID NOT GIVE ANY OPPORTUNITY FOR ME TO DROP OFF THE VEHICLE FOR REPAIR THE SAME DAY I TOWED THE VEHICLE BACK FROM MY WIFE'S OFFICE, AFTER FEW DAYS OF GAP I WAS ABLE TO DROP THE VEHICLE WHERE THEY WORKED ON IT AFTER FEW DAYS OF WAIT TIME, THEY EVEN RECOMMENDED ME TO DRIVE BACK THE CAR WITH CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IF I NEED VEHICLE THE SAME DAY OR EARLY. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. WHILE HAVING THE VEHICLE SERVICED FOR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR BRAKES WERE COMPLETELY WORN AND RUBBING METAL ON METAL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THREE WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN WHICH THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND THE CONTACT SUFFERED MINOR INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INSURANCE LOT AND WAS NOT EXAMINED FOR THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. WHILE DRIVING MY 2007 VW JETTA, I NOTICED A BURNING SMELL. WHEN I GOT OUT OF MY CAR, I NOTICED A VERY BIG BURN ON MY SEAT (WHERE MY BACK WAS). MY BACK IS ALSO DISCOLORED. THIS MORNING, I PUT THE SEAT WARMER ON #1 (THE LOWEST SETTING) AND THE RIGHT SIDE IS SCORCHING HOT. *TR
I WOULD LIKE TO FILE A COMPLAINT REGARDING MY AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR LIGHT REMAINING ON DUE TO A FAULTY SEAT BELT. I RECENTLY TOOK MY CAR TO THE VW DEALERSHIP TO HAVE MY CAR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM I AM HAVING WITH MY AIR BAG LIGHT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECENT AIR BAG RECALLED VW ISSUED. I WAS TOLD MY THE TECHNICIAN THAT MY AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE MY ENTIRE DRIVER'S SEAT BELT NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I AM HOPING THAT VW WOULD LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM BECAUSE MY SEAT BELT WORKS PERFECTLY FINE AND THERE IS NOTHING I COULD HAVE DONE TO CAUSE THIS DAMAGE.

THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ROLLING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING IN A SNOWSTORM, THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS STOPPED OPERATING DUE TO THE HEAVY VOLUME OF SNOW, CAUSING THE CONTACT'S VISION TO BE OBSCURED. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THERE WAS NO REPAIR FOR IT BUT THEY COULD GET THE WIPERS TO FUNCTION. ONE YEAR LATER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000.
MY 2007 WOLFSBURG JETTA JUST STALLED ON ME LAST NIGHT. THE ESC LIGHTS CAME ON AND THEN THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN THE ENGINE DIED. I LOST ALL POWER AND COASTED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. I THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY BUT ALL MY LIGHTS, RADIO, HEADLIGHTS WORKED. I TRIED TO START IT BUT THE RED STEERING LIGHT CAME ON TOO. I GOT IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE IT SHOULD STILL BE UNDER WARRANTY(<4 YEARS, <40,000 MILES). LUCKILY THIS HAPPENED IN A RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD WHERE I WAS ABLE TO SAFELY GET OUT OF TRAFFIC. IF THIS HAD HAPPENED ON THE FREEWAY, A MORE SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED.THIS CAR WAS BOUGHT NEW AND HAS NEVER GIVEN ME ANY ISSUES. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ALONG A MAJOR FREEWAY WHEN THE CAR STARTED TO VIBRATE AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND WAS FLASHING. I HAD TO ATTEMPT TO GET TO THE SHOULDER IN HEAVY TRAFFIC WITH THE CAR SLOWING DOWN AND ENGINE MISFIRING. WHEN PARKED ON THE SIDE OF THE FREEWAY, WE EXITED THE CAR SINCE IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS STRETCH OF ROAD AND SOON A HIGHWAY SERVICE VEHICLE CAME AND TOLD US THEY WOULD TOW US OFF THE ROAD FOR OUR SAFETY. WE WERE STRANDED ON A LONE STRETCH OF BUSY FREEWAY 80 MILES FROM HOME AND HAD TO GET A TOW FOR 80+MILES AND 2+ HOUR'S DRIVE. I WAS VERY DISAPPOINTED THAT THE PROBLEM I HAD WITH MY CAR (IGNITION COIL) WAS THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD 4 MONTHS PRIOR (WHICH ALSO REQUIRED A TOW). AT THAT TIME, ONLY ONE IGNITION COIL WAS REPLACED (EVEN THOUGH I WAS TOLD THERE WAS AN EXISTING RECALL ON THE IGNITION COILS) AND SO 4 MONTHS LATER I ENDED UP WITH THE SAME PROBLEM. IN READING ON THE WEB, I HAVE DISCOVERED THE PROBLEM WITH VW IGNITION COILS HAS BEEN AROUND SINCE 2001 - EVEN MORE REASON TO WHY ALL FOUR SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED WHEN I FIRST BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR THE PROBLEM BACK IN JUNE. THIS HAS BEEN A KNOWN PROBLEM FOR MANY YEARS (WITH 2001-2003 MODELS) BUT FOR SOME REASON IT STILL CONTINUES TODAY AND THERE HAS BEEN ONLY SERVICE BULLETINS ISSUED AND NO FACTORY RECALLS. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN HE DEPRESSED THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL TO PASS ANOTHER VEHICLE OR MOVE FASTER, THE VEHICLE WOULD SUDDENLY SLOW DOWN. THE VEHICLE WOULD ALSO TAKE UP TO THREE SECONDS BEFORE IT WOULD MOVE FORWARD AT A MODERATE SPEED. THE CONTACT STATED THE FAILURE WAS CALLED "INTERMITTENT ACCELERATOR HESITATION" RELATED TO THE TRANSMISSION. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FOUR TIMES. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALER WHO STATED THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE INSPECTED. THE DEALER NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 27,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 20,000.
SPEEDOMETER READING AT LEAST 10% FASTER THAN ACTUAL SPEED. BROUGHT CAR BACK TO THE DEALER EXPLAINING THE INACCURACY, WAS TOLD VERBALLY SPEEDOMETERS ARE GAUGES NOT METERS AND CAN ONLY BE DESIGNED TO GUESS THE ACTUAL SPEED, THEY CANNOT REPORT ACTUAL SPEEDS. WRITTEN EXPLANATION WAS A 5 MPH DIFFERENCE IS A NORMAL VARIATION OF SPEEDOMETERS BY ALL AUTO MANUFACTURERS AND THE CAR WAS PERFORMING AS ACCURATELY AS ALL OTHER VEHICLES. TECHNICIAN, WHO ALSO DRIVES A JETTA, TEST DROVE THE CAR AND NOTED SPEED READINGS WERE THE SAME AS HIS JETTA AT SIMILAR RPMS. HIS CAR IS ALSO APPARENTLY REPORTING SPEED 10% FASTER THAN HIS ACTUAL SPEED. AT FREEWAY SPEEDS THE 10% VARIANCE IN SPEED ACCURACY IS GREATER THAN THE 5 MPH DIFFERENCE TO BE EXPECTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THEIR EXPLANATION. *TR
NORMAL DRIVING HABITS. MILEAGE ON VEHICLE = APPROXIMATELY 59,500. THE REAR BRAKE PADS AND ROTORS WEAR AT EXCESSIVE RATE ON MY 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA - 2.5L WOLFSBURG EDITION. I'VE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE WHERE THE REAR BRAKE PADS OR ROTORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BEFORE THE FRONT PADS/ ROTORS. VW OFFERED TO REPLACE THE REAR PADS AND ROTORS FOR STANDARD BRAKE REPLACEMENT COST (NO DISCOUNTED PRICE FOR PREMATURE WEAR). THE REAR BRAKES WEARING PREMATURELY PRESENTS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
2007 VW JETTA WOLFSBURG EDITION, 4-DOOR. FUEL TANK STARTED LEAKING GAS ABOUT 5K MILES AGO (STARTED ABOUT 5K OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY). THERE ARE ABOUT 5 SUPER TINY HOLES LOCATED ON A SEAM OF THE FUEL TANK. TANK IS DEFECTIVE, VW NOT INTERESTED IN ASSISTING IN THE FIX. THIS DEFECTIVE TANK POSES A SEVERE EXPLOSION HAZARD TO ME AND MY FAMILY. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN IN ANY ACCIDENTS, HAS HAD ALL SERVICE WORK COMPLETED. *TR
2007 VW JETTA WOLFSBURG: PULLED OUT OF VW DEALERSHIP INTO AN INTERSECTION AND THE ENGINE SHUT OFF WITH NO WARNING. TURNED IGNITION OFF AND BACK ON AND THE CAR RESTARTED. GOT ONTO THE INTERSTATE AND THE CAR LOST POWER GOING ABOUT 65 MPH. GAS PEDAL TO FLOOR AND NO ACCELERATION. REMOVED FOOT FROM PEDAL AND PUSHED AGAIN AND CAR STARTED TO ACCELERATE AGAIN. EXITED OFF INTERSTATE AND SLOWED DOWN AT INTERSECTION TO STOP AT TRAFFIC LIGHT. ENGINE DIED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. CAR WAS TOWED BY VW TO THEIR SERVICE DEPT. THE POLICE WERE CONTACTED TO DIRECT TRAFFIC DUE TO THE UNSAFE CONDITIONS CREATED BY THE CAR STOPPING IN AN INTERSECTION. THESE PROBLEMS OCCURRED DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC AND WE WERE FORTUNATE NOT TO HAVE BEEN KILLED OR TO HAVE CAUSED AN ACCIDENT. THE PROBLEMS OCCURRED ON AN EXTREMELY HOT DAY. THE CAR WAS AT THE VW SERVICE DEPT FOR 12 DAYS AND OVER 600 MILES WERE PUT ON MY CAR BY VW. THE DEALERSHIP CONTACTED VW OF AMERICA TO HELP DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM. THE SERVICE DEPT MGR ACKNOWLEDGED LOW VOLTAGE ON THE METERS HE CONNECTED TO MY CAR AND ALSO THE IGNITION WOULD NOT START FOR HIM WHILE HE HAD THE CAR AT A GAS STATION. SINCE THEY COULD NOT EXACTLY RE-CREATE THE PROBLEMS THAT OCCURRED, I DID NOT FEEL THEY COULD ASSURE ME THE CAR HAD BEEN REPAIRED AND WOULD BE SAFE TO DRIVE. THEY WERE "GUESSING" AT THE REPAIR. THE IGNITION CONTROL MODULE WAS REPLACED AND I WAS ASSURED BY VW SERVICE DEPT AND VW OF AMERICA THAT THE CAR WAS REPAIRED AND SAFE TO DRIVE. AFTER DRIVING APPX 300 MILES, THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. I HAVE SEEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS REPORTED ON THE NHTSA WEBSITE UNDER VARIOUS CATEGORIES FOR 2007, 2008, 2009 AND 2010 JETTAS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THE VW JETTA AND VW OF AMERICA NEEDS TO RESPOND TO THESE COMPLAINTS. THIS CAR SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED ON THE ROAD. I WAS TOLD BY VW OF AMERICA THAT THIS WAS AN ISOLATED INCIDENT. THE GM AND SERVICE DEPT MGR AT THE VW DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM. *TR
POWER DOOR LOCK SYSTEM FAILURE. CAN NOT LOCK ENTIRE DOORS. KEY GOT STUCK AND COULD NOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. HAD TO CALL A TOW-TRUCK, PAY ($350) AND HAVE TAKEN TO DEALER. DEALER RECOMMENDED REPLACING ENTIRE POWER DOOR SYSTEMS. COST ME ABOUT $450...WENT AHEAD AND APPROVED REPLACEMENT. $350 + $450 = $800. POWER LOCK FAILED AGAIN...SEP-OCT 2012. I WAS NOT NOTIFIED 5,000 MILES AGO THAT THEY WERE LOW OR WOULD BE CAUSING ISSUES. NOW I'M BEING TOLD ON TOP OF MY $250 TUNE-UP, I NEED TO REPLACE ALL THAT FOR 310. THIS SEEMS TO BE A DOCUMENTED ISSUE, AND I'M HIGHLY UPSET THAT I WOULD HAVE TO DEAL WITH THIS IN MY LEASE. IN 5,000 MILES I WENT FROM BEING "FINE" TO THE PADS BEING GROUND INTO THE ROTORS. *TR
WE NEVER RECEIVED RECALL NOTICE FOR 09V 164. OUR CAR HAD A FAILED RIGHT FRONT DRIVE SHAFT WHICH FRACTURED THE TRANSMISSION CASE ON APRIL 28,2010. WE ALMOST LOST CONTROL DUE TO THE LEAKING TRANS OIL. DEALER STATED THAT THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED DURING A SERVICE VISIT. THIS FAILURE IS EXACTLY WHY VW FILE A SAFETY RECALL WITH NHTSA. NOW THE TRANSMISSION NEEDS TO BE REPLACED DUE TO HOLE IN CASE AND VW IS NOT RESPONDING. *TR
I HAVE A 2007 VW JETTA THAT IS WEARING OUT PADS TO FAST. THE 1ST TIME THEY WORE OUT THE CAR HAD APPROX 16,000 MI. WE WERE TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT IT WAS CAUSED BY THE EMERGENCY BRAKE LEVER NOT TOTALLY RELEASING. THE 2ND TIME THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY WITH APPROX. 28,000 MI. BUT THE DEALERSHIP AND VW WERE WILLING TO REPLACE THE PADS SINCE THEY WORE DUE TO THE BRAKE LEVER AGAIN. BUT IT WAS SUGGESTED THAT AUDI PADS BE PUT ON BECAUSE THEY WORE LONGER THAN THE VW. THE MECHANIC AT THE TIME SAID THERE WAS A PROBLEM ON THE JETTA WITH THE LEVER NOT ALWAYS RELEASING. NOW AT 54,000 MI THE CAR HAD TO GO IN FOR A BRAKE JOB. UNFORTUNATELY THE PADS WORE DOWN TO THE RIVETS AND SCOURED THE ROTORS. SO I HAD TO PAY FOR PADS AND TURNING THE ROTORS. NOW VW IS SAYING THAT THEY DESIGN THE BRAKES TO WEAR IN 12,000 TO 20,000 MILES. I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF PADS ONLY LASTING THAT SHORT OF TIME. AND IF THAT IS SO THEN WHY AM I STILL USING THE ORIGINAL FRONT PADS. THEN THEY STATE THAT THEY SET THE CAR UP SO THE REARS DO MORE WORK THEN THE FRONT TO MAKE THE FRONT NOT DO ALL THE BRAKING. YEAH, WE DO THAT ON TRACTOR AND TRAILERS TO, BUT NOT TO MAKE THE REARS DO ALL THE BRAKING. MY WIFE WAS DRIVING HER 2007 VW JETTA WHEN SHE WAS T-BONED FROM A GMC SUV, APPROX. SPEED OF GMC WAS 40 MPH AND APPROX SPEED OF JETTA WAS 45 MPH. THE JETTA WAS STRUCK AT A 90 DEGREE ANGLE DIRECTLY INTO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. THE IMPACT WAS ENOUGH THAT MY WIFE NEEDED TO BE REMOVED FROM HER CAR WITH THE JAWS OF LIFE. THE STEERING COLUMN AIRBAG DEPLOYED HOWEVER THE MULTIPLE SIDE AND LUMBAR AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. HAD THESE DEPLOYED HER INJURES WOULD HAD BEEN MUCH LESS SEVERE. BOTH CARS ARE BEING TOTALED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANIES. THIS VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE OF THE SAFETY FEATURES, NOW AFTER CONTACTING VW, MINDY PRENTICE REGIONAL CONSULTANT VOLKSWAGEN CUSTOMER CARE IS TRYING TO TELL ME THAT THE THIS ISN'T THE TYPE OF CRASH THAT WOULD TRIGGER SIDE AIRBAGS. I DRIVE A 2007 JETTA WOLFSBERG. IN APRIL 2010 I WAS LEAVING FOR WORK AND THE CAR WOULDN'T START. MY HUSBAND WENT OUT AND IT STARTED FOR HIM. NO WARNING LIGHTS WERE ON. A WEEK LATER THE CAR'S ENGINE JUST DIED WHILE TRAVELING 60MPH ON THE FREEWAY AND WOULD NOT START. TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE THEY CHECKED ALL THE WIRING HARNESSES AND OVERLAID A WIRE. ONE DAY AFTER RECEIVING THE CAR BACK I HAD TROUBLE STARTING IT AGAIN. REPORTED THIS TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE. TWO DAYS LATER THE ENGINE DIED WHILE DRIVING DOWN A RESIDENTIAL STREET AND WOULD NOT START. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS SINCE THE COMPUTER WAS REPLACED. I AM REPORTING THIS BECAUSE OF AN ARTICLE MY AUNT SENT TO ME. MY CAR ACCELERATED WHILE I WAS MAKING A "PANIC STOP" MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND NO BRAKES WERE BEING ACTIVATED AND THE CAR ACTUALLY SPED UP UNTIL I PUSHED IN THE CLUTCH. BY THAT TIME IT WAS TOO LATE AND I TAPPED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. I BELIEVE THIS HAPPENED DUE TO THE CARS ESP FEATURE WHICH SENSES DRIVER INPUT AND HELPS TO MAKE THE "CORRECT" ACTIONS TO AVOID AA LOSS OF CONTROL. DURING OPERATING SPEED THESE ACTIONS WOULD CAUSE UNDERSTEER AND I ASSUME THE CAR HAS BEEN PROGRAMMED TO RELEASE PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES AND REAPPLY THROTTLE TO REENGAGE FULL STEERING RESPONSE BUT I WAS LEAVING A STOP SIGN WHEN I NOTICED THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME STOPPED. IM NOT THINKING THAT THIS IS A DEFECT BUT RATHER WANTED TO BRING IT TO YOUR ATTENTION AFTER I JUST READ THE SYMPTOMS OF TOYOTAS MALADY. I OWN A 2007 JETTA WITH ONLY 26K MILES ON IT. WITHOUT ANY INITIAL WARNING THE REAR BRAKES STARTED TO GRIND ON THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE. I TOOK THE CAR TO A SPECIALIST WHO TOLD BE ONE REAR BRAKE WAS GRINDING ON METAL AND THE OTHER WAS ABOUT TO GET TO THAT POINT. MY FRONT WHEEL DRIVE BRAKES WERE STILL 100% AND NOT SHOWING ANY SIGN OF WEAR. THEY FELT THIS WAS VERY UNUSUAL FOR BRAKES TO DO THIS SO SOON AND SUGGESTED I TAKE IT TO THE CAR DEALER TO HAVE THEM CHECK FOR FAULTY BRAKES. I TOOK THE CAR IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS NORMAL FOR THIS CAR TO DO THIS SO EARLY. I WANT YOU TO KNOW THAT I HAVE OWNED MANY CARS IN MY LIFETIME AND TEND TO REPLACE THEM AFTER ABOUT 50K MILES. CONTACT OWNS A 2007 VW JETTA. CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 30,573 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 27,000. CONTACT STATED SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE THE AIR BAG LIGHT WOULD FLASH ON THE DASH BOARD. CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND REPAIRED THE SEAT BELT AS WELL AS A SENSOR FOR THE AIR BAG. THE NEXT MORNING THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON AND SO THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND DID SOME MORE REPAIRS AND 3 WEEK LATER THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME BACK ON. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACE A SENSOR IN THE DOOR. THE OWNER'S MANUAL ADVISED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE OPERATED WITH THE RE-CIRCULATOR CONTINUOUSLY RUNNING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE FAN MOTOR AND SWITCH PANEL YET IT DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER REPLACED THE VEHICLE WITH A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN TIGUAN. THE CONTACT STATED ONCE HE TOOK POSSESSION OF THE NEW VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE EXACT SAME FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER ADVISED A FAILURE DID NOT EXIST IN THE NEWER VEHICLE AND DID NOT MAKE ANY REPAIRS. THE CONTACT DISAGREED WITH THE DEALER STATING THE OWNER'S MANUAL STATED OTHERWISE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 2 MILES AND THE CURRENT WAS UNKNOWN.
MY SUN ROOF EXPLODED IN MY 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THERE WERE NO OUTSIDE INFLUENCES(ROCK) THAT COULD HAVE CAUSED THIS TO HAPPEN. THE SUN ROOF WAS NOT MADE OF SAFETY GLASS AND SHATTERED INTO SMALL PIECES ALL OVER ME AND THE INSIDE OF MY CAR. THERE WERE SMALL SLIVERS EVERYWHERE. IT WAS A VERY LOUD BANG, WHICH CAUSED ME TO SWERVE. I WAS LUCK TO NOT GET ANY IN MY EYES, OR I DIDN'T HAVE MY KIDS IN THE CAR. I STOPPED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT MUST HAVE BEEN A ROCK OR SOMETHING, AND THE VOLKSWAGEN REP WHO WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP DIDN'T EVEN COME OUT TO SPEAK WITH ME, OR LOOK AT THE CAR. I WAS TOLD TO SETTLE IT WITH MY INSURANCE. I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN DIRECTLY, AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY COULD NOT DO ANYTHING OTHER THAN TO SUGGEST I GO TO MY INSURANCE. I EXPLAINED THE EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD, AND THEY JUST SAID SORRY"WE CAN'T DO ANYTHING AT THIS POINT" CASE NUMBER 100150276. I REPORTING THIS BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY HAZARD, AND COULD CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY, OR DEATH. I LOOKED ONLINE, AND OTHER HAVE REPORT THE SAME THING HAPPENING TO THEM, SUN ROOF CLOSED, AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN A LOUD POP, THEN GLASS EVERYWHERE, WITH NO VEHICLES AROUND. *TR
THE CAR BEGAN TO HAVE JERKY SHIFTS AND THEN BEGAN LURCHING AT SLOW SPEEDS IN FIRST. IN CERTAIN CASES THE GEAR WOULD GRAB AND THEN LET GO ALLOWING THE CAR TO SUDDENLY ROLL BACKWARDS ON HILLS. THE MECHATRONICS UNIT WAS REPLACED AFTER 35000 MILES AND THEN THE SECOND UNIT LASTED FOR 1300 MILES. I AM NOW WAITING FOR MY SECOND REPLACEMENT UNIT. NOTE THIS IS A JETTA GLI WITH 2.0T AND 6 SPEED DSG TRANSMISSION. *TR
STARTED EXPERIENCING HARD SHIFTING IN THE LOWER GEARS (1-3) AS DESCRIBED IN THE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE TRANSMISSION VALVE BODY. UNFORTUNATELY I AM ALREADY PAST THIS WARRANTY DATE AND HAD NO IDEA OF THE PROBLEM UNTIL IT HAPPENED, AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS. *TR
THE 2007 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA HAS AN ISSUE WITH THE REAR BRAKES. I HAVE LESS THAN 27,000 MILES ON THE CAR AND NEED TO REPLACE THE PADS AND ROTORS. WITHIN 1 WEEK OF HEARING THE INITAL GRINDING NOISE, I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THERE WAS 1/32 LEFT ON THE REAR ROTORS. THIS IS UNHEARD OF FOR ROTORS TO WEAR SO QUICKLY. *TR
