KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN TURNING OFF THE ENGINE. ENGINE LOCK AND HOUSING CYLINDER MALFUNCTION IS REGULARLY PREVENTING KEY FROM TURNING OFF THE IGNITION.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE ABS WARNING LIGHT ALONG WITH SEVERAL OTHER UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHILE SHIFTING GEARS. ADDITIONALLY, THE BRAKES FAILED TO WORK EFFECTIVELY WHILE DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT GEARS CORRECTLY. THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN AND WAS SHAKING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RPM WAS FLUCTUATING. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CHECK ENGINE, POWER STEERING AND EPC WARNING LIGHTS WERE ALSO ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE VEHICLE AND THE VEHICLE DROVE NORMALLY FOR A WHILE BEFORE THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO HANSEL VOLKSWAGEN (2951 CORBY AVE, SANTA ROSA, CA 95407) AND WAS DIAGNOSED HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO UPDATE THE ABS SOFTWARE. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE ABS MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE ABS MODULE FAILED INTERNALLY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.
ABS FAILURE THAT ALIGNS WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V913000 APPEARED ON MY 2009 JETTA. YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL ARE COVERED IN THE RECALL THOUGH VW CLAIMS MY VIN DOES NOT FALL WITHIN THE RECALL PARAMETERS. SOLID ABS WARNING LIGHT AND BLINKING BRAKE LIGHT. PRIVATE VW SPECIALIST DETERMINED WE NEED ABS MODULE AND PUMP AT THE COST OF $2500 FOR A KNOWN ISSUE OR WE WILL NOT HAVE ANIT-LOCK BRAKES. PER THE RECALL, THIS CAN CAUSE A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND CAN INCREASE THE RISK OF CRASH. FAILURE OCCURRED AT 81K MILES
I PURCHASED A 2009 VW JETTA GLI 4 DOOR CAR AND LESS THAN 1 DAY LATER THE EPC, ABS LIGHTS CAME ON AND MANY OF THE GAUGES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY (SPEEDOMETER, FUEL, ETC.) THE SENSORS WERE FIXED AND THE USED DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD ME THE CAR HAS HAD IT OFF AND ON, IN AND OUT OF THE SHOP FIXING THOSE THINGS, SAID THE ABS MODULE NEEDED REPLACED. THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT IS ON THE RECALL FOR REPLACEMENT AND THAT THE LOCAL VW DEALERSHIP WOULD FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. THE VW DEALERSHIP TOLD MY HUSBAND AND I TODAY THAT THE CODE DIDN'T MATCH TO REPLACE THE ABS MODULE. I LOOKED THE VEHICLE UP IN THE CAMPAIGN FOR THE RECALL BY VIN # AND FOUND IT. THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE SINCE DAY 1. IT IS NOT SAFE AS THE CAR HAS DECELERATED IN FREEWAY TRAFFIC, BRAKES FAILING AND NOT WORKING PROPERLY IN TRAFFIC AND IS GOING TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME U WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE VEHICLE OFF. THE KEY WAS STUCK IN THE ON POSITION. AFTER A LOT OF WORK I WAS ABLE TO FINALLY GET IT TURNED OFF BUT NOW OT WILL NOT GO FURTHER THAN THE ACCESSORY SETTING. AFTER READING COUNTLESS FORUMS ONLINE I FOUND THAT THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM.
THE ETC SIGN COMES ON AND THE CAR LOST ITS POWER SIGNIFICANTLY. THE OBD SCAN DOES NOT SHOW ANY CODE

I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY WITH THE SEAT WARMER ACTIVATED. THE SEAT WAS VERY WARM AND I FELT SOMETHING POKING ME. I REACHED BEHIND ME TO SEE WHAT WAS POKING ME AND SOMETHING BURNED MY FINGER. I STOPPED AT THE GAS STATION AND SAW THAT A HOLE HAD BEEN BURNED IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT. A HOLE HAD ALSO BEEN BURNED THROUGH MY WINDBREAKER AND HAD STARTED BURNING MY SHIRT.
VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN THE ABS RECALL IN 2017. DEALER DIDN'T REPLACE THE MODULE AT THE TIME, STATING THAT THE SOFTWARE WAS UPDATED, WHICH WOULD DETECT THE FAILURE BEFORE IT ACTUALLY HAPPENED. CUSTOMER WAS TOLD THAT IF THE ABS LIGHT CAME UP, JUST RETURNED FOR THE REPLACEMENT OF THE MODULE FOR FREE BECAUSE IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY. WHEN THE SAID LIGHT CAME UP AFTER A FEW THOUSAND MILES, CUSTOMER RETURNED TO THE DEALER. DEALER INDICATED THAT IT WAS COVERED UNDER THE WARRANTY AND ORDERED THE MODULE FOR REPLACEMENT. CUSTOMER WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS SAFE TO DRIVE LOCALLY WHILE WAITING FOR A MONTH FOR AN APPOINTMENT. CUSTOMER WAS INFORMED THAT IT WAS FREE MULTIPLE TIMES UNTIL AFTER THE LONG WAIT FOR AN APPOINTMENT AND HOURS OF WAITING DURING THE ACTUAL SERVICE, WHEN 'NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE' BECAUSE IT WAS NOT FREE. DEALER EXPLAINED THAT THE ERROR CODE IN THE VEHICLE WAS DIFFERENT FROM THE ONES ON A PIECE OF PAPER THAT THEY HAD FOR THE RECALL REPLACEMENT. CUSTOMER ASKED WHAT THE CODES MEANT AND WHAT WAS THE PROBLEM WITH THE VEHICLE; DEALER DIDN'T KNOW. HOWEVER, DEALER ADVISED CUSTOMER TO HAVE THE MODULE REPLACED AT CUSTOMER'S COST.
TOOK VEHICLE IN FOR ABS RECALL AND WAS TOLD VOLKSWAGEN DENIED THE RECALL BECAUSE THE ABS MODULE WAS BAD. IT IS BAD TO BEGIN WITH. VOLKSWAGEN HAS CAME UP WITH A SCAM TO PLEASE NHTSA BUT NOT SATISFY CUSTOMERS. QUOTED $1532.62 FOR A NEW ONE THAT SHOULD BE REPLACED BY VOLKSWAGEN BECAUSE IT'S ALREADY FAULTY.

SEEMS LIKE THERE ARE LOTS OF BAD MODULES THAT CANNOT BE UPDATED. THIS IS A HAZARD CONDITION; ESPECIALLY HERE IN MICHIGAN.
SHORTLY AFTER THE EMISSIONS RECALLS WHERE DONE IN 2019 AT APROX 184,000. AT APPROX 186,000 MILES THE ABS CONTROL MODULE WENT OUT. THE VEHICLE HAS 190,000 MILES AND I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL VW DEALER AND THEY SAY NO RECALLS FOR THIS. THERE HAS BEEN OVER 136,000 VEHICLES AFFECTED, SO WHY ISNT MINE UNDER A RECALL? I HAD JUST PURCHASED THE VEHILCE.

HI, I HAVE A 2009 JETTA 2.5 SE AND THE DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING G BOTH MANUALLY OR WITH THE KEY REMOTE. I CANNOT LOCK MY DOORS EXCEPT FOR THE DRIVER DOOR. IT STARTED THIS MORNING OUT OF NOWHERE.
MY KEY GOT STUCK IN MY IGNITION ON THANKSGIVING, I COULD NOT GO TO MY 2ND JOB ON BLACK FRIDAY BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE AND HAD TO QUIT MY JOB. I WENT TO VW PUENTE HILLS IN CA AND THEY MADE ME PAY FOR A NEW CYLINDER THAT COST ALMOST $900. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A CYLINDER ISSUE. A WEEK LATER MY KEY GOT STUCK AGAIN, I WENT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A KEY ISSUE AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE KEY, THEY SAID THEY WERE GOING ORDER A NEW CYLINDER AND HAVE IT REPLACED. IT'S BEEN ALMOST 2 MONTHS AND THEY COULD NOT FIND THE REAL ISSUE. THEY CALLED ME AGAIN TODAY SAYING THAT IT IS NOT THE CYLINDER ISSUE, IT IS THE MODULE, NOW THEY WANT ME TO PAY FOR A NEW KEY AND A NEW MODULE! THE SAID THE MODULE WOULD COST AROUND $400. AND MIND YOU, I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE KEY! I ALSO JUST PAID FOR A NEW CYLINDER! I AM BEING RIPPED OFF AND TAKING ADVANTAGE OF. HAD DROVE THE CAR LITTLE WHILE, THEN MADE A STOP, CRANKED THE CAR TO LEAVE AND SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS LOW ON OIL, THAT KIND OF. TAPPING SOUND. OIL WAS FINE. BUT THE SOUND STILL THERE THE NEXT DAY. AFTER DRIVING IT A MILE OR TWO. IT GOT LOUDER, THEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I STOPPED AT THE CLOSEST PART STORE ABOUT 5 MIN AFTER THE LIGHT CAME ON. THEY CHECKED IT WITH THE SCANNER. SAID IT WAS A KNOCK SENSOR CODE. P0328, BANK 1.TOOK IT TO VW. TO GET A DIAGNOSITS DONE. AND THE MAN SAID IT WAS DUE TO A RECALL. THE PROBLEM I WAS HEARING, AND THE CODE. WAS FROM THE RECALLED PART. THEY CHANGED THAT PART. SAID IT WAS A FUSE PANEL ON ENGINE BLOCK. THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THE SAME. THEN, HE SAID IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE RECALL. AND I STILL HAD TO PAY THE 120 DOLLAR FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC. AND SAID THEY WOULD HAVE TO OPEN THE ENGINE TO CHECK ANY FURTHER, AND THAT THE LABOR WOULD BE ABOUT 2000 DOLLARS. I HAD TOOK IT BY VW BEFORE IT STARTED TO HAVE ANY NOTICEABLE PROBLEMS.WHEN I HAD HAPPENED TO LOOK UP RECALLS ONLINE. THE MAN LOOKED IT UP BY MY VIN. TOLD ME THERE WERE 3 ACTIVE RECALLS. BUT IT WOULD BE ANOTHER WEEK BEFORE THEY COULD GET TO IT. I ASKED IF IT WOULD BE OK TO CONTINUE DRIVING IT, WAS ANY OF THEM SERIOUS ENOUGH TO NOT. HE TOLD ME , NO, THAT IT WOULD BE FINE TO DRIVE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HERITAGE VOLKSWAGEN PARKVILLE (9215 HARFORD RD, PARKVILLE, MD 21234, (877) 398-1963) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE SEAT COVER AND COIL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 190942827. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 197,000.
I WAS DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH WHEN A DEER CAME INTO THE ROAD FROM THE RIGHT SIDE. I SEEN THE DEER AND SHOULD HAVE HAD PLENTY OF TIME TO MISS IT AND COME TO A STOP. I REMOVED THE CAR FROM 5TH GEAR WHILE USING BOTH THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PADS. ONCE I APPLIED SIGNIFICANT PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES THE COMPLETELY LOCKED UP, AS DID THE STEERING WHEEL. MY CAR COLLIDED WITH THE DEER AND SUBSEQUENTLY TRAVELED OFF THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE ROAD IN A SPIN, STOPPING APPROXIMATELY 40 FEET DOWN AN EMBANKMENT. SINCE THEN I HAVE HAD NO LUCK KEEPING THE VEHICLE RUNNING. I HAVE HAD THE ALTERNATOR, PLUGS AND COIL PACKS, STARTER, AND IGNITION CHANGED WITH NO REMEDY. THE VEHICLE WILL NOT START.
THE ABS MODULE FAULTING IS A KNOWN AND COMMON PROBLEM FOR THESE VEHICLES. VW HAS A RECALL FOR THE ABS SOFTWARE-RECALL #16V913. IF YOUR MODULE DOESN'T CRASH WHEN THE DEALER PERFORMS THE UPDATE, WHICH IT LIKELY WON'T, THEN THEY DO NOT REPLACE THE MODULE. WE FEEL THIS IS A WORKAROUND TO COVER THEM TO NOT HAVE TO REPLACE THEM. OURS WENT OUT THIS MONTH WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THIS WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS I LOST STEERING CONTROL AND THE VEHICLE KEPT DOWNSHIFTING BELOW 30 MPH ON A HIGHWAY THAT I SHOULD HAVE BEEN TRAVELING 60 MPH ON. THE EPC AND ABS LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN WE CALLED THE DEALER, THEY AGREED TO LOOK AT IT TO SEE IF IT WAS THE ABS MODULE AND IF IT WOULD BE ELIGIBLE FOR REPLACEMENT UNDER THE RECALL. IT WAS NOT COVERED BECAUSE THEY WERE "UNABLE TO PERFORM THE SOFTWARE UPDATE". THIS IS BECAUSE OF THE SPECIFIC WORDING ON THE VW RECALL. I HAVE READ THAT SEVERAL OTHER CUSTOMERS HAVE BEEN TURNED AWAY BECAUSE OF THE SAME THING AND LEFT WITH EXPENSIVE REPAIRS. THEY SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL TO COVER THE FAULTY ABS MODULES ALL TOGETHER AND NOT EXCLUDE THEM DUE TO THE "SOFTWARE UPDATE." THE RECALL IS A PLAY ON WORDS TO COVER THEM FROM NOT BEING REQUIRED TO REPLACE THEM. IT IS STRATEGIC AND MISLEADING. WE CALLED VW AND WAS TOLD IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED ALSO. IGNITION KEY STUCK IN IGNITION SWITCH IN THE ON/RUN POSITION AND WILL NOT TURN OFF OR COME OUT OF IGNITION.

I HAVE BEEN TOLD MY CAR IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE ABS MODULE REPLACEMENT CLAIM BUT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH IT AS I DRIVE THE CAR. THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT AND ABS LIGHT ARE ALL ON AND FLASHING WITH A BEEP THAT IS CONSISTENT ONCE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION AND IT'S A VERY DISTRACTING SOUND THAT I WISH I COULD FIX MYSELF BUT EVEN THE PART COSTS $600+ AND TO GO TO THE DEALER AND GET IT FIXED FOR $1800. I AM A COLLEGE STUDENT WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE FUNDS TO FIX THIS ISSUE AND I HAVE NOT BEEN GIVEN A REASON WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE FIX.
I JUST BOUGHT THIS 2009 VOLKSAWAGEN JETTA THIS MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 16TH 2019, THE CAR HAS A NONSTOP BEEPING NOISE AS SOON AS THE KEY GOES IN THE IGNITION (NOT THE OPEN DOOR BEEP EITHER) AND THE ABS, BRAKE, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ARE ON IN THE DASHBOARD. THE BEEP IS NONSTOP AND VERY FRUSTRATING AND STARTS EVERY TIME THE KEY GOES IN. I BOUGHT THE CAR FOR CHEAP THINKING THIS WOULD BE AN EASY FIX.
MY 2009 VW JETTA HAS THE ABS, ELECTRONIC STABILITY PROGRAM (ESP) WARNING LAMPS ILLUMINATED WITH A FLASHING BRAKE WARNING LIGHT DURING NORMAL HIGHWAY DRIVING. THE ABS SYSTEM PROGRAM WAS UPDATED BY MY LOCAL VW DEALER ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO AS A PART OF A VW RECALL THAT WAS MAILED TO US. THE CAR IS EXTREMELY SENSITIVE TO WET OR MOIST ROADS ON A 90F DAY, IT ACTS LIKE IT'S DRIVING ON ICE.

TWO YEARS LATER, THE CONTACT'S WIFE NOTICED THAT THE ABS AND BRAKE WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DROVE THE VEHICLE BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR ANY FUTURE REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY WERE STANDING BY THE DEALER'S DECISION REGARDING THE HANDLING OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000. *TT *JS CONSUMER STATED I WAS CONTACTED BY SARAH AT VW OF AMERICA'S CUSTOMER CARE DEPARTMENT AND TOLD THAT THE UPDATE THAT WAS DONE AND CODE THAT IS SHOWN DOES NOT HOLD THEM RESPONSIBLE FOR HONORING THE RECALL. I HAVE TRIED TO GET INFO ON HOW THE CODE WORKS WITH THE ABS MODULE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NO ONE TO EXPLAIN. *JB

MY SON WAS DRIVING DOWN A WINDY ROAD (GOING ABOUT 30, IN THE CITY) WHEN THE BRAKE LIGHT, TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS TURNED ON IN THE DASHBOARD. CAR STOPPED OK AND WAS NOT INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT. THE CAR STARTED TO MAKING A BEEPING SOUND. WHEN HE ARRIVED HOME WE CHECKED IT WITH A SCANNER, CLEARED THE CODES. A DAY LATER THE SAME ISSUE WITH THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON. I CALLED VW AND MY LOCAL DEALER AND ALTHOUGH THERE IS A BULLETIN FOR THE ABS FOR MY YEAR JETTA, THEY SAID MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF IT.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO SEND AN INVOICE WITH THE COST FOR THE ABS CONTROL MODULE AND THEY MAY PROVIDE REIMBURSEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
The contact's friend owns a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta. The contact stated while his friend was driving 50 mph three days after purchasing the vehicle, the ABS, brake and ETC warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that his friend continued to drive the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated that his friend was unable to start the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the battery needed to be replaced. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired; however, the warning lights remained illuminated. The dealer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the recall repair for NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V913000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic, Electronic Stability Control) could not be completed on the vehicle until the issues indicated by the warning lights were repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed the assessment by the dealer. A case was opened. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.

3 WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING MY PRE-OWNED VEHICLE IN MAY 2019, SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE ENGINE ON MY WAY TO WORK. I HAD MY CAR TOWED TO A SHOP AND WAS TOLD THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE WAS BROKEN ENGINE HOSE CLAMPS. THE SHOP CHARGED ME ALMOST $700 FOR BRAND NEW HOSE ASSEMBLIES AND CLAMPS. ALSO, MY TRANSMISSION IS SLIPPING INTERMITTENTLY AND I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS VEHICLE.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED AN UNKNOWN RECALL NOTIFICATION YEARS AGO AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO BE SERVICED; HOWEVER, THE REPAIR DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE REPAIR WAS COMPLETED. NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 171,000.
ABS MODULE RECALL FOR 2009 VOLKSWAGEN MODELS AFFECTED NEEDS TO BE REVISED, FOR THERE ARE LOTS OF CARS THAT SUFFER FROM ABS MODULES FAILING WHILE THEY ARE DRIVING. SOME CARS WHICH ARE ILLEGIBLE ARE LEFT UNFIXED BY VOLKSWAGEN BECAUSE THEY DO NOT FIT THE SPECIFIC DETAILS OF THE RECALL. THE COMPANY SHIPPED CARS OUT WITH FAULTY ABS MODULES AND REFUSE TO FIX IT AND THOSE CARS ARE HAZARDOUS ON THE ROAD. MY VEHICLE, FOR EXAMPLE, HAS ABS MODULE WORKING INTERMITTENTLY WHILE IT SHOULD BE STAYING ON. DURING A DIAGNOSIS THE ECU SENSES NO COMMUNICATION BETWEEN IT AND THE ABS MODULE, WHICH IS A HAZARD KNOWING MY ABS WILL NOT ALWAYS FUNCTION WHEN I NEED IT TO STOP QUICKER IN RESPONSE TO THE MANY OBSTACLES ON THE ROAD. THE FAULTY ABS SENSOR MESSED WITH MY STEERING AND GAUGES. THE GAUGES DO NOT PRESENT REAL TIME CALCULATIONS AND THE STEERING ASSIST HAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN DUE TO ABS BEING UNRESPONSIVE.

REPAIR DECLINED DUE TO $2,500 COST, BUT THE CIRCUMSTANCES INDICATE THIS SHOULD BE COVERED IN SAFETY RECALL 45F2, NHTSA CAMPAIGN 16V913 (ALTHOUGH VIN NOT INDICATED AS PART OF RECALL ACCORDING TO NHTSA RECORDS). WILL FOLLOW UP WITH DEALERSHIP. NHTSA SHOULD NOTE OTHER SIMILAR COMPLAINTS TO CAUSE MANUFACTURER TO EXPAND NUMBER OF AFFECTED VEHICLES. VW'S RESPONSE APPEARS TO BE INADEQUATE SO FAR.
RECALL 45F2 WAS PERFORMED ON 3/11/19. ABS LIGHT CAME ON, INDICATING ABS HAD BEEN DISENGAGED ON 5/20/19, WHICH IS THE PROBLEM THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN FIXED WITH THE RECALL. RETURNED VEHICLE TO DEALERSHIP WHERE RECALL WAS PERFORMED. WAS INFORMED THAT I NEEDED TO PAY FOR PART THAT WAS DEFECTIVE AND THE REASON FOR THE RECALL, ABS MODULATOR. TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN 2046841 FULLY DESCRIBES ISSUE.
ABS LIGHTS UP ON DASH AS I AM DRIVING ALONG THE ROAD, CAUSING CONCERN THAT THE CAR WILL BRAKE AUTOMATICALLY.
VEHICLE HAS 100,088 MILES ON IT. ON 5/11/2019 THE ABS MODULE WENT BAD. UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN RECALL NUMBER 16V913000 THE ABS MODULE SHOULD BE REPLACED. VOLKSWAGON ON 5/14/19 RAN MY VIN # AND SAID NO RECALL APPLIED. THEY REFUSED TO REPLACE THE MODULE DESPITE THE APPLICABILITY OF YOUR RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER. THE VEHICLE IS NOW IN A MECHANIC'S GARAGE AND IS INOPERABLE AS COMPUTER CODE 01130 APPLIES. THE ABS WARNING LIGHT AND FLASHING BRAKE LIGHT APPEARED WHILE I WAS IN MY DRIVEWAY AND HAD JUST STARTED UP THE CAR.
