DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING FOR MY VW JETTA S 2.5 L. WHEN I PRESS THE CAR KEY TO LOCK THE DOOR, IT GIVES SOUND THAT EVERYTHING IS LOCKED. ONE DAY TO MY HORROR, I SAW SOMEONE OPENING MY CAR AT NIGHT. I IMMEDIATELY RANG ALARM, WENT TO MY CAR AND CHECKED EVERY DOOR TO FIND THAT THEY ARE NOT GETTING LOCKED. NO MANUAL LOCKS FOR THIS VEHICLE TOO. THIS REALLY QUESTIONS THE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE. I TOOK IT TO VW SERVICE. THEY TOLD THAT MECHANICAL PART OF LATCH FAILED. THEY TOLD THAT SINCE MECHANICAL AND ELECTRICAL PARTS COME TOGETHER BOTH WERE REPLACED AT A COST OF 670 BUCKS. THAT'S TOO MUCH FOR A SINGLE DOOR.
AFTER TAKING MY 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA TO MY YEARLY TEXAS INSPECTION IT DID NOT PASS BECAUSE IS HAS THE BRAKE AND THE ABS LIGHT ON. THE ABS LIGHT IS ILLUMINATED WITH FAULT CODE 01130 AND OR 16352- ABS REPLACEMENT AFTER 45F2 RECALL. THE DEALER RECALL #16V913000 & T.S.B# 45-1704 WHERE IN CLEARLY INCLUDES MY VEHICLE IN THE RANGE OF VIN NUMBERS AFFECTED BY THIS FAULT. VOLKSWAGEN DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THIS RECALL BECAUSE IT DOES NOT SHOW UP IN THEIR SYSTEM WITH MY VIN#. BUT AS STATED BEFORE THERE IS A "RECALL #16V913000 & T.S.B# 45-1704 WHERE IN CLEARLY INCLUDES MY VEHICLE IN THE RANGE OF VIN NUMBERS AFFECTED BY THIS FAULT. " I AM ATTACHING A DOCUMENT WITH A COPY OF THE TBS . THE PART THAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND IS THAT VOLKSWAGEN KNOW THAT THEY HAD THAT EFFECT AND MY CAR HAS IT BUT SINCE THEY DO NOT HAVE MY CAR INT HE LIST THEY DO NOT WANT TO HONOR THE RECALL. TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA SPORTWAGEN. WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT STATED THAT "CAUTION DEFECTIVE AIR BAG" WAS DISPLAYED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO PARK THE VEHICLE SAFELY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT ABLE TO BE DRIVEN AND WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT CALLED VOLKSWAGEN OF MURRIETA (LOCATED AT 41300 DATE ST, MURRIETA, CA 92562, (951) 249-7072) AND INFORMED THEM OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 76,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT WENT ON ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. I KNOW THAT MANY VWS, INCLUDING 2010 JETTAS LIKE MINE, WERE SUBJECT TO RECALL FOR CLOCK SPRING. I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL AND THIS SHOULD BE FIXED FREE OF CHARGE BY VW. CALLED DEALERSHIP AND THEY SAID IT'S NOT AND THAT I'D HAVE TO PAY THE $125 DIAGNOSTIC FEE TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. HAVE READ MANY STORIES OF HOW YOU ARE RECEIVING MY COMPLAINTS FROM VW OWNERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. RECALL NEEDS TO BE EXPANDED. LIGHT IS ON ALL THE TIME. CALLED VW CUSTOMER CARE AND THEY COULD NOT HAVE BEEN LESS HELPFUL. CALLED YESTERDAY AND ASKED TO SPEAK WITH A SUPERVISOR. THEY SAID THERE NO SUPERVISOR WOULD BE AVAILABLE UNTIL THE FOLLOWING AFTERNOON. PLEASE EXPEDITE I'M VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY SAFETY AND DRIVING THIS VEHICLE. HAVE BEEN LOYAL VW CUSTOMER SINCE 1998 BUT GIVEN THIS EXPERIENCE AND THE COMPANY'S RECENT ETHICAL MALFEASANCE, AM NOT SURPRISED THE COMPANY IS STRUGGLING TO STAY AFLOAT.
I AM TRULY NOT SURE. IT IS GOING INTO THE SHOP TOMORROW. ALTHOUGH, I JUST PURCHASED IT USED, AND WHEN I PARK IT ON A HILL. IT MAKES THIS ODD SOUND AS IF THE BODY IS GOING TO FALL APART? KEY GETS STUCK IN IGNITION WHEN TURNING OFF THE ENGINE.

IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE TOOK LONGER THAN USUAL TO STOP. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG, SEAT BELT, ABS, AND BRAKE LIGHT INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS HYDRAULIC PUMP WAS FAULTY AND RECOMMENDED THAT A DEALER BE CONTACTED. THE CONTACT CALLED BMW VOLKSWAGEN OF TOPEKA (3030 S KANSAS AVE, TOPEKA, KS, (785) 266-8480), BUT THEY DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,193.
AFTER DRIVING ALL DAY WITH NO PROBLEM, I PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE CAR OFF. THE IGNITION WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I DROVE A LITTLE FURTHER AND TRIED AGAIN AND IT WOULD NOT TURN OFF. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC AND THEY COULDN'T GET IT TO TURN OFF EITHER. AFTER MANY ATTEMPTS AND WD-40, THEY WE ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF. IT APPEARS THAT THE ISSUE IS THE IGNITION SWITCH. ACCORDING TO THE MECHANIC, THERE ARE MANY ISSUES WITH THIS WITH VOLKSWAGEN, YET THERE IS NOT A RECALL. THE REPLACEMENT WILL BE ABOUT $650. I'VE ALREADY REPLACED ELECTRICAL ISSUES INVOLVING ABS AND AIRBAGS THAT WERE CLOSE TO $2000. AFTER 2 YEARS OF OWNERSHIP, I'M READY TO GET RID OF THIS CAR AND NEVER OWN ANOTHER VOLKSWAGEN.
TURNED ON THE CAR ONE DAY AND THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON AND THE EMERGENCY BRAKE INDICATOR STARTED FLASHING ON THE DASH. IT LASTED FOR A FEW DAYS AND THEN WENT AWAY, BUT CAME BACK AGAIN A DAY LATER. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO GET IT INSPECTED AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE (ABS) CONTROL MODULE WAS FAULTY AND HAD TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED, WHICH COST ME OVER $2000. MY COMPLAINT IS THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM FOR THE SAME YEAR, MAKE, AND MODEL OF MY CAR BUT A DIFFERENT ENGINE TYPE, THEREFORE, IT DOES NOT APPLY TO MY CAR (ACCORDING TO THE VIN AND YOUR WEBSITE). THE RECALL CAMPAIGN NUMBER THAT I AM REFERENCING IS 16V913000. AFTER READING OTHER COMPLAINTS, IT SEEMS I AM NOT ALONE IN MY FRUSTRATIONS AND THAT MANY OTHERS ARE AFFECTED BY THIS ISSUE AS WELL.
REAR DRIVER SIDE DOOR LOCKING MECHANISM HAS FAILED, IN THE UNLOCKED POSITION, RENDERING SECURING THE VEHICLE IMPOSSIBLE. THERE IS NO SECONDARY METHOD OF LOCKING THE DOOR, SINCE THE ACTUATOR IS SOLELY ELECTRICALLY OPERATED. THERE ARE ALSO INDICATIONS THAT THIS CONDITION IS RESPONSIBLE FOR DRAINING THE CAR'S BATTERY WHEN LEFT FOR MORE THAN 5 DAYS WITHOUT STARTING.
ABS ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. FOUND EVIDENCE ONLINE THAT VW EXTENDED COVERAGE FOR REPLACEMENT OF THIS MODULE. FAULT CODE FOR SAFETY RECALL FOR ABS MODULE IS 16V-913. WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THAT MODULE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY. IN ADDITION, AIR BAG INDICATOR IS ON AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. JUST HAD THE CHEAT DEVICE REMOVED TWO MONTHS AGO.
VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT TO NEUTRAL ALMOST CAUSING MULTIPLE CRASHES ATTEMPTING TO MOVE OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AS IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE TO ACCELERATE. IT HAD TO BE TOWED TO A VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP AS IT WAS NOT POSSIBLE TO DRIVE AND WAS TOLD THE MECHATRONIC UNIT HAS FAILED AND HAVE BEEN QUOTED $2,360. THIS IS A COMPLAINT BECAUSE THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NO WARNING OR CONCERN IF THIS BECOMING AN ISSUE AND THE FAILURE OF THIS DEVICE COULD HAVE CAUSE SERIOUS INJURIES.
MY 2010 JETTA WOLFSBURG'S LOCKS DO NOT WORK WHENEVER IT RAINS - DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR IS LOCKED WHEN UNLOCK CAR, BUT OTHER DOORS ARE UNLOCKED. HAVE TO USE KEY TO OPEN DOOR. FURTHERMORE, THE PASSENGER DOOR ON DRIVER'S SIDE DOES NOT LOCK AT ALL SO CAN BE OPENED WHEN PARKED AT A LIGHT, ETC. THE CAR HAS A SUNROOF AND WHEN RAINS CONDENSATION BUILDS UP AROUND PASSENGER SIDE DOOR AND WINDOW ON DRIVER'S SIDE (HAVE SEEN MILDEW AND MOLD GROWING SO CLEAN AFTER EVER RAIN). RADIO WAS WORKING AND DIED DURING RAIN. FUSES ARE OK. DEALER SAYS RADIO IS DEAD AND $900 TO REPLACE WITH A FACTORY ONE. I AM CONCERNED ABOUT SIDE AIRBAGS WORKING ALONG WITH BEING ABLE TO OPEN A DOOR THAT SHOULD BE LOCKED.
THERE HAS BEEN A STATEWIDE LAWSUIT AGAINST VOLKSWAGEN REGARDING 2010 JETTA TIMING CHAIN AND TIMING CHAIN TENSOR. THE DEALER SHIP HAS REFUSED TO CORRECT THE ISSUE WITH MY VEHICLE EVEN TOUGH IT IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY. RICK CASE VOLKSWAGEN HAS REFUSED TO CHECK AN ISSUE THAT VOLKSWAGEN HAS STATED THEY WERE AWARE OF TIMING CHAIN ISSUES.
2010 VW JETTA SE NOT LONG AFTER PURCHASING TEH VEHICLE USED IN 2016, THE ABS AND ESC LIGHTS STARTED COMING ON. WE DIDN'T REALLY NOTICE ANY CHANGE IN THE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE, BUT WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THE LIGHTS BEING ON, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT CONCERNED THE BRAKES AND STABILITY. ON 6/14/19 WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THIS ISSUE CHECKED OUT. THE RECEIPT FROM THAT VISIT SHOWED THAT THE ABS PUMP AND MODULE HAD FAULTS. THE DEALERSHIP RECOMMENDED REPLACING BOTH AT A COST OF $2,610. WE ASKED THE SERVICE PERSON WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF WE DIDN'T REPLACE THEM AND HE SAID THE BRAKES WOULD STILL WORK BUT THE ABS MIGHT NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY, BUT THAT WE SHOULD BE OK. WE HAVE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE LIGHTS ON MOST OF THE TIME SINCE THEN WITHOUT ANY NOTICEABLE PERFORMANCE CHANGE; HOWEVER, PERFORMANCE IS STARTING TO BECOME AN ISSUE. THE ABS AND ESC LIGHTS HAVE BEEN REMAINING ILLUMINATED FOR QUITE SOME TIME NOW. ALSO IN THE LAST MONTH OR TWO THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS NOW STARTING TO COME ON PERIODICALLY WITH A CORRESPONDING ISSUE WITH THE STEERING BEING MORE DIFFICULT. WE ARE BECOMING MORE CONCERNED ABOUT SAFETY. AS A RESULT, WE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOP THIS WEEK TO GET THE PROBLEM CHECKED OUT. HE INFORMED US THAT THERE IS AN ACTIVE RECALL (16V913000) THAT WOULD CORRECT ALL OF THESE ISSUES. HE GAVE US A COPY OF THE RECALL AND SAID WE WOULD NEED TO TAKE IT TO THE LOCAL DEALER TO HAVE THE REPAIR DONE. WE CONTACTED THE LOCAL VW DEALER AND THEY TOLD US THE RECALL DOESN'T APPLY TO OUR VEHICLE, SO I THEN CALLED THE NATIONAL VW CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND WAS TOLD THE SAME THING. WHAT CAN WE DO TO HAVE VW HONOR THE RECALL FOR OUR VEHICLE?
THE ANTILOCK BRAKE SYSTEM CONTROL UNIT IS FAILING DURING ABS OR ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL ACTIVATION, RESULTING IN A LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL AND ESP LIGHT COMING ON AND OFF RANDOMLY.
SUNROOF EXPLODED WHILE TRAVELING 70 MPH ON HIGHWAY. NO NEARBY VEHICLES, NO OBVIOUS SOURCE OF IMPACT. SUNROOF WAS IN THE CLOSED POSITION. GLASS MOSTLY CONTAINED ABOVE SUNSHADE (WHICH WAS CLOSED) BUT SOME FELL THROUGH AIR SLOTS AT THE FRONT. VERY LOUD BANG, LIKE A GUNSHOT WHEN IT EXPLODED. OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE WAS 56F, JUST CROSSING SNOQUALMIE PASS IN WA STATE AROUND 1PM.
TAKATA RECALL - HAD MY HEATED SEATS ON AND ENDED UP WITH 3RD DEGREE BURNS AND BLISTERS DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BACK.
COIL SPRINGS IN REAR BOTH BROKE NOW FRONT SPRING IS BROKEN. VERY DANGEROUS HAPPENED WHILE DRIVING STRIAT DOWN HIGHWAY
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2010 VOLKSWAGEN JETTA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MECHATRONIC UNIT FOR THE DSG GEAR BOX TRANSMISSION FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS DIAGNOSED BY AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. NAPLETON'S VOLKSWAGEN OF ORLANDO (12700 E COLONIAL DR, ORLANDO, FL 32826, (855) 843-6461) WAS NOTIFIED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER INDICATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE CUSTOMER SATISFACTION PROGRAM REGARDING THE MECHATRONIC UNIT FOR THE DSG GEAR BOX TRANSMISSION; ALTHOUGH, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED THE SAME FAILURE AS LISTED IN THE PROGRAM. THE MANUFACTURER REFUSED TO ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
FAULTY EGR SYSTEM PUTS MOISTURE IN THE TURBO INTERCOOLER ON THE DIESEL 2.0 ENGINE. INTERCOOLER EVENTUALLY FREEZES IN COLD TEMPERATURES. ENGINE DIES RANDOMLY DUE TO NO TURBO BOOST. MY CAR DIED WHILE MAKING A LEFT HAND TURN ACROSS 2 LANES OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WE WERE ALMOST T-BONED BY A SEMI TRUCK HAULING A 53' TRAILER! MY DEALER HAD ONE OTHER TDI IN THE SHOP THE SAME DAY MINE WAS TOWED IN. VW HAS ENGINEERED A ' COLD WEATHER INTERCOOLER' AND IS AWARE OF THIS DESIGN FLAW. NOTHING IS MENTIONED IN THE OWNER'S MANUAL ABOUT DRAINING THE WATER (WHICH ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE THERE) FROM THE SYSTEM OCCASIONALLY DURING WARM WEATHER. CARS UNDER THE 36,000 MILE WARRANTY HAVE HAD THE UPDATED INTERCOOLER INSTALLED FOR FREE. THIS UPDATE, THAT DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM, COST ME $1042.92. THE CAR STALLED DURING THE DRIVE HOME FROM THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE NEW COLD WEATHER INTERCOOLER WAS INSTALLED. IT STALLED 2 OUT OF 3 SUBSEQUENT TRIPS AFTER THE UPDATED INTERCOOLER. THE CAR HAD TO BE TOWED DUE TO THE ENGINE STARTING AND IMMEDIATELY STALLING. THIS ISSUE AROSE AFTER THE VW TDI EMMISSIONS FIX THAT WAS PERFORMED ON MY CAR IN DECEMBER OF 2017.
I REPLACED MY BRAKES WITH BRAND NEW BRAKES LESS THAN 6 MONTHS AGO AND STILL HAVE ALL OF THE SAME ISSUES. MY BRAKES CONSTANTLY LOCK, I'VE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO DO A HARDSTOP WITH THIS CAR FOR THE 4 YEARS I'VE OWNED IT. I'VE AVOIDED ACCIDENTS BY MOVING MY STEERING WHEEL LEFT AND RIGHT TO AVOID OTHER VEHICLES BECAUSE MY BRAKES LOCK PRETTY MUCH EVERY TIME. IT SCARES ME TO DRIVE THIS CAR WITH MY 2 YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT. I REPLACED THE IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER AND THE RADIATOR ON MY CAR 3 YEARS AGO AND MY CAR STILL JUMPS WHEN IDLE AND ALTHOUGH I CAN TURN THE IGNITION IT MOST OFTEN FAILS TO START ON THE FIRST TRY. I HAVE TO TURN IT ON TWICE FOR IT TO START. OFTEN TIMES WHEN I'M AT A STOP LIGHT IT SOUNDS LIKE MY CAR IS STRUGGLING TO STAY ON.
I HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT THE 2015 - 2019 JETTA SPORTWAGEN BEEN IDENTIFIED WITH A REAR COIL SPRING BREAKING ISSUE AND A RECALL WILL BE ISSUED APRIL 19, 2019 - MY 2010 JETTA SPORTWAGEN HAS RECENTLY EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE AND I BELIEVE THE RECALL SHOULD BE EXPANDED
SAME ... I COULDN'T TURN OFF MY CAR OR TAKE THE KEYS OUT, THE CAR WAS ON FOR MORE THAT 3 HRS, TOOK THE CAR TO VW AND THEY ARE CHARGING ME $800+ FOR FIXING IT, I LET MY CAR THERE AND IT WAS STILL ON. THIS IS A VW PROBLEM, AND THEY SHOULD DO A RECALL AND/OR AT LEAST RECOGNIZE PART OF THE FIXING ON THESE MODELS, WHERE IS THE CONSUMER PRODUCT HELP? WE NEED A RECALL ON THIS IGNITION BOX PROBLEMS, THIS IS DANGEROUS . ALSO THEY SHOULD REIMBURSE ALL OF US
ABS SENSOR ERROR- HAD TO REPLACE SENSOR ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHIN TWO YEARS. EACH ONE COSTING OVER $200. ON SECOND REPLACE, THE SENSOR DIRECTLY FROM VW WAS DEFECTIVE. WARNING LIGHT COMES ON, GOES OFF, COMES ON, ETC. COMES ON WHEN MOVING AND SOMETIMES WHEN SITTING STILL. MECHANIC TOLD ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON ERROR. I DON'T WANT A CAR THAT IS NOT FULLY DEPENDABLE. AFTER THE TDI ISSUE AND 10 MPG LESS WITH THE FIX, I AM VERY UNHAPPY.
THERE WAS A RECALL NOTICE FOR 2010 VOLKSWAGENS FOR A FAIL IN THE BRAKE LOCK SYSTEM (ABS) AND MINE WENT OUT ON MY CAR LAST YEAR 2018. WHY DIDN'T MY CAR QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL TO GET FIXED FROM THE MANUFACTURE. I'M A MOTHER OF 2 AND I WORK PLUS IN SCHOOL. I CAN'T AFFORD TO REPLACE THIS. AND I WANT TO FEEL SAFE WHILE DRIVING ON THE ROAD. I REALLY NEED THE MANUFACTURE TO FIX THIS. I LOVE MY CAR BUT IT'S ALREADY EXPENSIVE ENOUGH WITH THE HIGH MILEAGE OIL CHANGE AND OTHER EXPENSES. IF MY CAR CAN QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL JUST LIKE THE OTHER 2010 THAT WILL BE A LIFE SAVER. PLEASE HELP ME OUT WITH THIS ISSUE.

WE WERE ALWAYS REALLY HAPPY WITH THE CAR UNTIL WE GOT THE NOTICE THAT THIS WAS ONE OF THE CARS WITH THE EMISSIONS CHEATS IN IT. AS WE HAD SUCH LITTLE MILEAGE ON THE CAR WE ELECTED (AFTER MUCH CONTEMPLATION MIND YOU) TO HAVE THE CAR "FIXED" AND TOOK THE $5K IN RESTITUTION THEY OFFERED. JUST AFTER THE EMISSIONS "FIX" THE CAR STARTED SPUTTERING WHEN IN IDLE SPEED SO WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BUT WERE TOLD THEY DID NOT SEE ANY ERROR CODES AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM SO WE KEPT DRIVING THE CAR BUT THIS ISSUE DID NOT GO AWAY AND IS STILL A CONSTANT AGGRAVATION TO US AS THE ENTIRE CAR SHAKES WHEN THIS OCCURS. JUNE 2018 THE BRAKE LIGHT, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, AND THE ABS LIGHT CAME ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HOOKED IT UP TO THE COMPUTER WHICH INSTRUCTED THEM THAT THE ABS MODULE AND PUMP NEED TO BE REPLACED, APPROXIMATELY A $3,000 REPAIR. WE TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MECHANIC WHO INSTRUCTED US THAT THE PUMP WAS FINE BUT THE MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED DUE TO THE FAULT THEY READ. JULY 2018, IN ADDITION TO THE PREVIOUS LIGHTS COMING ON, NOW THE DIESEL PRE-HEAT LIGHT CAME ON, THE STEERING LIGHT CAME ON, THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND THE ESP LIGHT CAME ON, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ONCE AGAIN WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE SAME ANSWER: THE ABS CONTROL MODULE IS FAULTY. WE ARE GETTING A THIRD OPINION AS WE HAVE A BAD FEELING THAT THE SOFTWARE UPDATE THEY INSTALLED FOR THE EMISSIONS "REPAIR" IS SETTING OFF SOME OF THESE COMMUNICATIONS ISSUES. AFTER 8.5 YEARS WITHOUT ANY ISSUES TO HAVE THESE PROBLEMS AFTER THEY "FIX" THE SOFTWARE SEEMS AWFULLY COINCIDENTAL.
I HAVE THE 2010 JETTA TDI. THE MECHATRONICS UNIT HAS FAILED AND VW WILL NOT SELL PARTS FOR THIS TRANSMISSION BECAUSE IT IS FAULTY. THEIR WORDS BUT THEY ALSO WON'T RECALL THE TRANSMISSION EITHER. TRANSMISSION SHOPS HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO BUY PARTS FOR THIS TRANSMISSION FOR OVER 4 MONTHS SO VW IS VERY AWARE. THE ISSUE IS THE TRANSMISSION WILL NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO ACCELERATE SAFELY AT ALL TIMES. I WAS LEAVING A BUSINESS DRIVEWAY INTO A 5 LANE ROAD AND THE TRANSMISSION GOT STUCK IN 1ST OR 2ND GEAR. IT WOULD NOT ALLOW THE CAR TO GO MORE THAN 32 MPH W/RPM'S OVER 3.5. SHIFTING INTO NEUTRAL OR PARK AND BACK INTO DRIVE AT THE STOPLIGHT DID NOT WORK. I HAD TO USE THE HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULL INTO THE NEXT PARKING LOT SAFELY. TURNING OFF THE CAR AND TURNING IT BACK ON ALLOWED THE TRANSMISSION TO WORK AGAIN BUT I DO NOT TRUST DRIVING IT ON THE FREEWAY OR MERGING INTO HIGH SPEED TRAFFIC. THIS ISSUE IS VERY SIMILAR TO THE 2007-2009 RECALL AND I PURCHASED MY CAR IN NOVEMBER 2009 WITH A 2010 MODEL. I DID NOT HAVE ANY ISSUES W/MY TRANSMISSION UNTIL AFTER THE EPA FIX. I REPORTED TO THEM TWICE IT HAD ISSUES SHIFTING IN LOWER GEARS BETWEEN 28-32 MPH. THEY SAID WITHOUT A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT THEY COULD NOT HELP ME AND NOW 6 MONTHS LATER MY TRANSMISSION MECHATRONICS UNIT HAS FAILED. VW SAYS THEY WOULD COVER IT UNDER THE EPA FIX BUT ONLY OF THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. VW NEEDS TO RECALL THE TRANSMISSION SINCE THEY ARE AWARE IT IS 'FAULTY'. *JS
ON JUNE 6TH, WHILE ROLLING UP TO AN INTERSECTION, THE GLOW PLUG SENSOR LIGHT FLASHED, AND THEN CAR STALLED. IT WOULDN'T START AGAIN. IT WAS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS AS THE MPH ON THE ROAD IS 50, AND THE CAR WAS NOT IN A GOOD POSITION TO BE MOVED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. TONS OF CARS PASSING VERY FAST AT 9:30 PM. WE HAD IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, WHO FOUND METAL IN THE FUEL. THEY DIAGNOSED IT AND SAID THE FUEL PUMP HAD DIED. DUE TO THE EMISSIONS SCANDAL, VW GAVE US AN EXTENDED EMISSIONS WARRANTY, WHICH THANKFULLY COVERS THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM! WOW! BUT THEN, THE DEALERSHIP SAID THEY TESTED THE FUEL AND SAID IT FAILED THE CONTAMINATION TESTS. I HAVE KEPT A LOG OF MY MILEAGE EVER SINCE I GOT THE CAR. IN FACT, I EVEN SAVED MY LAST FEW RECEIPTS WHICH SHOW I ONLY PUT DIESEL IN MY VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP DOES NOT WANT TO HONOR THE WARRANTY BECAUSE THEY ARE BLAMING ME FOR MISFUELING AND CONTAMINATING MY FUEL. IT'S REALLY FRUSTRATING WHEN I HAVE OWNED THE CAR IT'S ENTIRE LIFE AND HAVE NEVER PUT THE WRONG FUEL IN. I CALLED VW CORPORATE AND THEY ARE TRYING TO BLAME ME FOR MISFUELING, TOO. THEY "TALKED WITH THE DEALERSHIP" AND THINK THEIR "FUEL CONTAMINATION TEST" WAS ACCURATE. THE SERVICE MANAGER, ACTUALLY, COULDN'T EVEN TELL ME WHAT THE REASON FOR THE FAILING OF THE FUEL WAS, AND EVEN SAID IT COULD POTENTIALLY BE THE METAL SHARDS FAULT. SO HOW CAN THEY TRY TO BLAME ME WHEN THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW WHY THE TEST FAILED, ESPECIALLY WHEN I HAVE MY LAST 3 RECEIPTS FROM THE GAS STATION SHOWING DIESEL FUEL GOING IN. 10+ GALLONS EACH RECEIPT. I HAD DRIVEN 384 MILES ON THE TANK OF FUEL BEFORE THE VEHICLE STALLED. WITH SUCH DELICATE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMPS AND COMMON RAIL INJECTOR, IT WOULD HARDLY TAKE MUCH CONTAMINATION TO CAUSE THE HPFP TO BREAK. I HAVE EVEN CONTACTED THE GAS STATION I LAST FILLED UP AT, AND THEY HAVE HAD ZERO COMPLAINTS ABOUT BAD FUEL.

EACH TIME IT HAS COST ME ROUGHLY 2K TO REPLACE THIS UNIT AND THE LAST 2 HAVE FAILED WITHIN A YEAR. WITH THIS FAILURE I LOSE MY TRACTION CONTROL AND ANTILOCK BRAKES CREATING A POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS SITUATION FOR MYSELF AND MY WIFE AND KIDS MORE IMPORTANTLY. I AM CONSIDERING A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. TRUST ME... I HAVE ENOUGH COMPLAINANTS JUST IN PIKEVILLE KY. IT MAKES DRIVING IN RAIN INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT AND DANGEROUS AND MAKES CONTROLLING THE VEHICLE EXPONENTIALLY MORE DIFFICULT.
