TAKATA RECALL TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, ON APRIL 2016, I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL LETTER FROM VOLKSWAGEN REGARDING THE SAFETY RECALL 69M9-TAKATA SDI DRIVER FRONTAL AIRBAG. I CALLED MY LOCAL VOLKSWAGEN DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS. ON MAY 6, 2016, I CALLED YOUR CUSTOMER CARE TO EXPRESS MY CONCERN REGARDING THIS ISSUE. TODAY IS JUNE 20, 2016 AND STILL DO NOT HAVE A LETTER FROM VOLKSWAGEN TO FIX MY RECALL. I AM VERY CONCERN, SCARED AND STRESSED ABOUT THIS SAFETY RECALL. AS IT WAS MENTIONED IN THE LETTER, 'TAKATA HAS REPORTED THAT THE DRIVER FRONTAL AIRBAGS ARE DESIGNED TO DEPLOY. IN THE EVENT OF AN INFLATOR RUPTURE, METAL FRAGMENTS COULD PASS THROUGH THE AIRBAG CUSHION MATERIAL, WHICH MAY RESULT IN SERIOUS INJURY OR DEATH TO VEHICLE OCCUPANTS.' I HAVE ALSO READ AN EVENT WHERE A FATALITY ACCIDENT OF A YOUNG LADY FROM THIS TAKATA AIRBAG. I AM SCARED FOR MYSELF AND MY CHILDREN WHEN I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. I AM A SINGLE MOTHER WHO PURCHASE THIS VOLKSWAGEN KNOWING AND TRUSTING THE NAME OF THE QUALITY OF THIS VEHICLE, BUT NOW I WORRY. I DRIVE THIS VEHICLE EVERY DAY. RECEIVED NOTICE OF AIRBAG RECALL IN APRIL AS POTENTIALLY LIFE THREATENING. ALMOST 4 MONTHS LATER, VW WILL NOT FIX, HAS NO DATE FOR A FIX, AND REFUSES TO DISABLE AIR BAG.

1. ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR ON THE VEHICLE AFTER A COLD NIGHT WITH BELOW-FREEZING TEMPERATURES. THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN, AND ATTEMPTING TO OPEN IT FROM THE INSIDE AFTER GAINING ACCESS TO THE VEHICLE THROUGH THE PASSENGER'S SIDE DOOR LEFT THE DOOR UNABLE TO LATCH SHUT. 2. THE FAILURE IS WITH THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND LATCH ON THE DOOR. THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED. 3. TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DOOR LATCH WAS REPLACED IN TOTAL WITH A NEW PART AND THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS ADJUSTED.
DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY IN SIDE COLLISION INVOLVING A PICKUP TRUCK THAT HIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE PASSAT WAS TURNING LEFT AT THE TIME OF THE COLLISION AND TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH. THE PICKUP WAS UNLAWFULLY OVERTAKING SEVERAL VEHICLES AND TRAVELING AT AN ESTIMATED SPEED OF 65 MPH. THE IMPACT WAS NEAR THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE WHEEL.

THE GAS PEDAL RANDOMLY GETS STUCK...REPORTED THE ISSUE TO VW...NOT THEIR ISSUE BECAUSE THEY CAN'T SEEM TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE!!! THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY REMEDY OR REPAIR TO THIS AND THERE HASN'T BEEN ANY COMPENSATION OR REPLACEMENT OF THE VEHICLE WHICH IS ONLY FAIR TO ASK. I AM WORRIED THAT SOMETHING MIGHT HAPPEN AND IT WOULD BE TOO LATE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. AS A COMPANY MANUFACTURING IT, VW SHOULD PROVIDE US THE SENSE OF SAFETY AND PROTECTION. ALSO I LIVE IN CA, WHICH IS STATE THAT FALLS IN ZONE A STATES WITH HIGH TEMPERATURE CYCLING AND HUMIDITY AND FALLS INTO A MORE RISKY GROUP. SO I NEED TO FEEL SECURE IN SOME WAY AND VW IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.

I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM VOLKSWAGEN SEVERAL MONTHS AGO ABOUT AN AIRBAG RECALL ON MY VEHICLE THAT CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY AND EVEN DEATH . I HAVE REQUESTED EITHER A REPLACEMENT VEHICLE OR LEASE TERMINATION TO NO AVAIL. I AM DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE DAILY AND WANT A REMEDY. TAKATA RECALL. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN MARCH 2016 FROM AN OFFICIAL VW DEALER IN SEATTLE, CARTER MOTORS. VW HAD RECALLED THIS CAR ON 9 FEBRUARY 2016, BUT THE DEALER DID NOT INFORM ME. I SUBSEQUENTLY REGISTERED THE CAR WITH VW OF AMERICA, USING A FORM SUPPLIED WITH THE VEHICLE. I DID NOT HEAR FROM VW AND THEY DID NOT INFORM ME OF THE RECALL OF MY CAR. ONCE I FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL STATUS (USING THE NHTSA ONLINE TOOL) I CONTACTED THE DEALER, BUT HE WAS NOT WILLING TO UNDO THE ORIGINAL PURCHASE, OFFERING ME HALF OF WHAT I HAD PAID FOR THE CAR "BECAUSE IT IS AFFECTED BY THE RECALL". THIS WAS A $9,000 LOSS TO ME (I TRADED THE CAR IN, AS I WAS NOT COMFORTABLE HAVING MY 18-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER DRIVE A CAR WITH AN UNRESOLVED ISSUE THAT HAS KILLED 14 DRIVERS SO FAR). I HAVE TWO COMPLAINTS: 1. VW OF AMERICA IS OBVIOUSLY NOT HONORING ITS AGREEMENT TO IDENTIFY AND CONTACT DRIVERS OF RECALLED VEHICLES. I PROVIDED THE VEHICLE VIN AND ALL MY CONTACT DETAILS TO THE COMPANY, BUT NEVER HEARD FROM THEM AGAIN. THIS SEEMS TO BE IN BREACH OF THE AGREEMENT VW OF AMERICA HAS WITH THE NHTSA. 2. AN OFFICIAL VW DEALER (CARTER MOTORS) SOLD ME A RECALLED CAR, WITHOUT DISCLOSING THIS FACT. AT THE VERY LEAST, THAT IS ETHICALLY CORRUPT. THEY WERE SUBSEQUENTLY UNWILLING TO REMEDY THIS, STATING THEY HAD "DONE NOTHING WRONG", AND I GOT TO BEAR THE LOSS.
ON FEBRUARY 27TH, 2016 NIGHT, AFTER GETTING INTO THE CAR, I COULD NOT OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE. IF THERE WAS AN ACCIDENT OR FIRE IN THE CAR, I WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO GET OUT. THE HEATER CORE IN MY CAR HAS BECOME CLOGGED AND IS NOW FAILING TO PRODUCE HEAT FOR INSIDE THE CAR AND IN TURN IS FAILING TO DEFROST THE WINDOWS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE DROPS AND IT IS RAINING. I HAVE READ MANY CASES FROM ONLINE FORUMS ABOUT THIS SAME PROBLEM. THE HEATER CORES IN THESE CARS SHOULD NOT BE FAILING ALREADY.
MILEAGE OF THE VEHICLE DECREASED TO ALMOST 8-10 MILES PER GALLON, AFTER THE FIX THAT THEY INSTALLED FOR A RECALL. PREVIOUSLY I USED TO GET 37-39 MILES PER GALLON ON MY PASSAT DEISEL BUT AFTER THIS FIX I AM HARDLY GETTING 30 MILES PER GALLON. THE WHOLE OF ME BUYING THE DIESEL IS TO SAVE GAS. BUT AFTER HEARING ABOUT THE SCANDAL, I TOTALLY LOST FAITH ON VW AND WITH THE FIX, I AM NOT GETTING THE MILEAGE THAT THEY PROMISED ON THE STICKER PRICE.
