Speed was suddenly dropped and blinking glow plug light on when driving on highway. Had to carefully pull the car to the shoulder. Tow the car to the auto shop and confirmed that the turbocharger was failed. This TDI car was just over 120,000 miles
I recently replaced the battery but noticed the car was still missing. I had similar issue in February and catalytic converter was replaced. Three days ago I noticed the car was misfiring and EPC light as well as check engine light came on. I had OBD code checked and my car is misfiring on pistons 2 and 3.

Additionally, on several occasions while stopped, the vehicle overheated. The vehicle was towed to two separate dealers where several parts were replaced however, the failure persisted. The contact stated that there was an abnormal odor inside the vehicle. The vehicle had been overheating. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case number was provided. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.
The timing belt are known to go out on the Volkswagen CC even though Volkswagen says they should last the entire life of the engine. Also the camshaft, cam bridge, and spool valve will need replacing when it goes out. The Volkswagen dealer also said that is a common issue.

My car's engine performance weakened and it would not go past 40MPH. Two loops appeared on the dashboard flashing, pulled over turned off car then started it again. Two loop icon on dash went away. Started driving again and car would not drive past 20MPH and started making a weird loud noise. I was driving through Patterson Pass Road (very dangerous and super narrow road to even consider pulling over in) Pulled over again and parked my car and walked away from my car since that is too narrow to even consider waiting in the car. I called a towing company to have my car towed to VW dealership. I bought this car not even 2 years ago from VW with only 16k miles. Have done all maintenances on it and this is the second engine problem Ive had in less than 2 years. The first problem was replacing the EGR valve and now this.
WHEN I WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET, THE ENGINE STARTED TO MISFIRE AND SHAKE. AS A RESULT, I HAVE TO STOP AND PARK MY CAR IN A PARKING LOT. AFTER A PROFESSIONAL CHECK OF THE CAR, THE REPORT STATED THAT THE TIMING CHAIN AND CAMSHAFT BROKE AND HAVE TO BE REPLACED, WHICH COST MORE THAN THE WORTH OF THE CAR ITSELF AT 83000 MILES.

FOUR DAYS FROM HAVING MY OIL CHANGED, THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE.
THE CAR IS BURNING OIL AT AN ALARMING RATE. I HAVE TO ADD 4 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES.
2013 PASSAT TDI SEL. EMISSION MODIFICATION AT 28,514 MILES. NOW 29,200 MILES ON ODOMETER. BOUGHT THE CAR LESS THAN A MONTH AGO. VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH DIESEL MISFUELING GUARD. STOPPED AT GROCERY STORE AND ALSO FILLED UP DIESEL FROM SAM'S CLUB. DROVE 4 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AROUND 40 MPH AND ABOUT TO ENTER HIGHWAY WHEN GLOW PLUG INDICATOR STARTED FLASHING AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ILLUMINATED. HEARD SOME RATTLING AND THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN WITHOUT WARNING. COASTED OVER TO SHOULDER. WOULD NOT START. ABANDONED THE CAR FOR THE NIGHT. NEXT DAY I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO VW. THEY TESTED THE FUEL AND IT TESTED FINE. DIAGNOSED AS A FAILED HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. IT EXPLODED AND SENT SHRAPNEL THROUGH THE FUEL LINES AND FORWARD INTO THE ENGINE AND EXHAUST SYSTEM. ALSO SENT SHRAPNEL BACKWARDS INTO FUEL FILTER, FUEL TANK, AND LOW PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. $5500-$7500 REPAIR QUOTED IF NOT UNDER WARRANTY.

MY 2013 VW PASSAT TDI HAS BEEN TO THE DEALERSHIP 3 TIMES FOR A CRANK BUT NO START CONDITION.FIRST TIME WHEN THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER DROPPED IT OFF IT STARTED RIGHT UP, SO WE PICKED IT UP AND WENT ON OUR WAY. THE SECOND TIME IT HAD A BAD FUEL LIFT PUMP THAT THEY REPLACED THE THIRD TIME A COMPLETE HPFP FAILURE THAT AT 151,000 MILES THEY WILL NOT TAKE CARE OF. AFTER LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM I FIND OUT THAT THE FAULTY LIFT PUMP MAY HAVE CONTRIBUTED TO THE FAILURE AND IN CALIFORNIA THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM. CAN YOU HELP IN ANY WAY? SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR I'VE ALWAYS HAD ISSUES WITH THE OIL CONSUMPTION. I WAS TOLD IT WAS 'NORMAL' TO LOOSE UP TO 8 COURTS OF OIL IN-BETWEEN MY OIL CHANGES. THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THIS!! THE CAR HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF, I GET OIL CHANGES EVERY COUPLE THOUSAND MILES INSTEAD OF EVERY 10,000 LIKE VW RECOMMENDS. IF I DID THIS MY ENGINE WOULD QUIET LITERALLY BLOW UP. I'VE BEEN TOLD REPEATEDLY BY MULTIPLE FOREIGN REPAIR SHOPS (NON VW DEALERSHIP) THAT THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE WITH THIS MOTOR BUT FOR WHATEVER REASON THE 2013 CC MODELS WERE NOT RECALLED. BY THE SOUNDS OF IT'S A REPAIR THAT VW REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE OR FIX. I'M UPSIDE DOWN ON THE LOAN & HAVE BEEN TOLD I BASICALLY NEED A WHOLE NEW ENGINE. NOW, EVERY TIME I REFUEL I HAVE TO ADD A QUART OF OIL OTHERWISE MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON OR I RECEIVE A 'CHECK OIL PRESSURE. ENGINE OFF' MESSAGE. I MIGHT BE A FEMALE BUT I'M NOT THAT STUPID TO KNOW THAT THIS ISN'T NORMAL! THIS IS A CONSTANT ISSUE!

THE NEXT SERVICE WAS NOT DUE. I HAVE THIS ALL DOCUMENTED BY THE DEALERSHIPS. MY CAR HAS APPROX. 94,000 MILES ON IT. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON INTERMITTENTLY. TODAY VOLKSWAGEN DEALER (FOLLOWING DIAGNOSTIC TESTING) TOLD ME THE HEAD GASKET NEEDS TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THIS IS A RISKY REPAIR AS THE PRIMARY PROBLEM IS THE ENGINE. THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP IS TELLING ME THE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALER IS TELLING ME TODAY THAT THIS IS NOT A USUAL PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. I CALLED VOLKSWAGEN TO ASK FOR FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE OR BUY BACK PLAN FOR THIS AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS HIGH SPEEDS IN COLD CLIMATES, THE ENGINE FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS AN EXCESSIVE VIBRATION IN THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT WHEN ACCELERATING. VOLKSWAGEN OF OCALA (5135 SW COLLEGE RD, OCALA, FLORIDA 34474, (352) 387-1330) WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND REPROGRAMMED THE ENGINE IN OCTOBER OF 2017. AFTER THE ENGINE WAS REPROGRAMMED, SEVERAL OTHER FAILURES OCCURRED. THE COOLANT LINES FAILED AND WERE REPLACED AND AN OIL LEAK DEVELOPED IN THE MAIN SEAL IN THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. INITIALLY, THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE FAILURES, BUT LATER REPLACED THE FAULTY MAIN SEAL. ALSO, THE WATER PUMP WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. AS A RESULT, THE TIMING BELT WAS REPLACED ON THE VEHICLE. FURTHERMORE, THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL LINES FRACTURED AND FUEL ENTERED INTO THE FUEL FILTER OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT FUEL SPILLED ONTO THE HIGHWAY WHILE DRIVING DUE TO A COOLANT LEAK FROM THE OIL COOLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FITTING ON THE FUEL LINE RELATED TO THE FUEL LINE ASSEMBLY WAS ALSO REPLACED. LASTLY, WHILE DRIVING 80 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 181530876. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 105,000.
MY VEHICLE FOR SOME REASON IS NOT UNDER THE RECALL FOR ALL OTHER MODELS WITH SAME DEFECT. I HAVE A INTAKE MANIFOLD MALFUNCTION THAT WAS RECALLED ON ALL CC'S OF MY YEAR AND PRIOR BUT FOR SOME REASON MY MODEL WASN'T COVERED AND SHOULD BE.
