MY CAR HAS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE TAKATA AIR BAG SITUATION. IT' BEEN OPEN SINCE FEBRUARY IT'S NOW AUGUST. AS I UNDERSTAND IT, THE AIRBAG APPARATUS IS SUBJECT TO CORROSION IN HUMID WARM CLIMATES. I LIVE IN BREVARD COUNTY FLORIDA, ON THE COAST SUBJECT TO HIGH HUMIDITY AND HEAT. MY NEIGHBOR HAS AN ACURA WHICH IS ALSO SUBJECT TO THE RECALL. SINCE ACURA THINKS MORE OF IT'S CLIENTS THEY MADE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A RENTAL CAR FOR THEM UNTIL THE FIX FINALLY CAME IN, IN JULY. MAYBE IF VW HAD TO DO THE SAME THEY MAY EXPEDITE MY REPAIR SO MY WIFE AND I AREN'T RISKING OUR LIVES EVERY TIME WE HAVE TO DRIVE OUR VW. ANY HELP IS WELCOMED.

TAKATA RECALL. MORE THAN ONE YEAR SINCE THE RECALL. I LEASED THE CAR FROM VOLKSWAGEN, REQUESTED A RETURN/REFUND - OR AT LEAST CANCEL THE LEASE. NO RESPONSE.
TAKATA RECALL. IT HAS BEEN OVER A YEAR SINCE THIS RECALL CAME OUT FOR THIS PASSAT. WHEN WILL THIS AIRBAG PROBLEM BE FIXED?
TL* TAKATA RECALL. THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (PARAMOUNT VOLKSWAGEN, 1205 S CENTER ST, HICKORY, NC 28602, (828) 475-6696) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE AND VIN WERE UNKNOWN.
ONE DAY AT ABOUT 25,000 MILES I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE VENTS WERE NOT RECEIVING ANY HOT AIR TO WARM THE CAR. THERE WAS PLENTY OF HEAT COMING OUT OF THE DRIVERS SIDE, BUT ONLY COLD AIR COMING FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE. TOOK IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY SAID THAT THE HEATER CORE IS CLOGGED. SO THERE IS SOME TYPE OF CONTAMINATE IN THE COOLING SYSTEM EFFECTING THE HEATER CORE. THEY ARE REPLACING THE HEATER CORE UNDER WARRANTY, BU I HOPE IT DOESN'T AFFECT THE REST OF THE COOLING SYSTEM.
HEATER CORE CLOGGING. HEATER CORE HAS BEEN REPLACED 3 TIMES SINCE I BOUGHT THE CAR TO YEARS AGO. COOLANT HAS BEEN DISCOLORED AND CLOUDY. FIRST REPLACEMENT WAS IN JANUARY OF 2015. IT HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE IN JANUARY 2016.

MY CAR SUFFERED A CLOGGED HEATER CORE WITH 25K MILES ON THE ODOMETER. THE RESULT WAS LOW CABIN HEAT AND AN INABILITY TO MAINTAIN WINDSHIELD VISIBILITY USING THE DEFROSTER SETTING WHEN OUTSIDE TEMPERATURES DROPPED DURING WINTER. SYMPTOMS OCCUR WHEN STATIONARY OR MOVING.

THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, WHICH NOTIFIED THE CONTACT OF AN AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT FAILURE; HOWEVER, THE CONTACT WAS NOT INVOLVED IN A COLLISION. THE CONTACT CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL MALFUNCTIONED. THE CONTACT PARKED THE VEHICLE AND CALLED THE DEALER WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EXPERIENCING A FRACTURED CLOCK SPRING THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000 (AIR BAGS). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE FAILURE. 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT DIESEL. OWNERSHIP 1/1/2 YRS. MILEAGE 14,000. DRIVING TO WORK COULD NOT GO OVER 30MPH. DASHBOARD LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING EMISSION CONTROL MONITOR & PRE GLOW. THOUGHT IT WAS DUE TO COLDER WEATHER. HAD TO BE TOWED & AT DEALERSHIP NOW FOR REPAIR. COMPLETE BREAKDOWN. VW MECHANIC STATING THERE IS MAJOR DAMAGE DUE TO A RODENT OR SQUIRELL PROBLEM. STATED THE WIRING IS CHEWED UP EVEN IN THE HEADLIGHTS. I AM THE ONLY CAR OWNER IN THE PARISH AND IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD WITH THIS PROBLEM?? HAVE WARRANTY BUT VW SAID THIS IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. HAD TO GET RENTAL CAR. WAITING FOR STATE FARM INSURANCE ADJUSTER TO GO TO DEALERSHIP. HELP! PLEASE SEND A NHTSA REP TO INVESTIGATE AND LOOK AT VEHICLE.
TAKATA RECALL: THE CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE BECAUSE OF THE AIRBAG CONSTITUTES A LETHAL THREAT. THE VALUE OF THIS VEHICLE HAS OF COURSE PLUMMETED AS A RESULT, MAKING TRADING IT IN ECONOMICALLY IMPOSSIBLE. THE RECALL IS MORE THAN A YEAR OLD, AND THERE IS NO REMEDY IN SIGHT. VW SEEMS TO BE SIDESTEPPING RESPONSIBILITY HERE, AND TELLING CUSTOMERS "DON'T BLAME US--BLAME TAKATA." BUT TAKATA WAS VW'S SPECIFIC OEM!

TAKATA RECALL - WHEN WILL THE AIR BAGS BE REPLACED? I AM DRIVING WITH RECALLED, UNSAFE AIRBAGS AND THERE APPEARS TO BE ABSOLUTELY NO PLAN FOR REPLACING THEM.
EXPLODING SUNROOF WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH IN NORMAL WEATHER CONDITIONS; GLASS WAS PUSHED OUTWARD.
BACKUP CAMERA/NAVIGATION/RADIO SYSTEM SYSTEM DOES NOT WORKING IN A CONSISTENT MANNER (CAMERA WORKS WHEN IT WANTS TO-BIG SAFETY CONCERN, SCREEN GOES BLANK, ETC.). RADIO/NAVIGATION CONTROLS ARE INOPERABLE AT RANDOM OCCASIONS WHILE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION OR EVEN AT A STOP POSITION. RADIO SCREEN GOES BLANK EVEN IF RADIO IS ON AND USER IS UNABLE TO CONTROL IT FOR UP TO A FEW MINUTES. ON 2 OCCASIONS, EVEN AFTER TURNING THE ENTIRE CAR ON AND OFF MULTIPLE TIMES THE RADIO WAS ON BUT ALL CONTROLS WERE INOPERABLE AND UNABLE TO TURN OFF. EVENTUALLY THE SYSTEM BECAME OPERABLE A FEW MINUTES LATER. SAFETY ISSUE HAS BEEN DISCUSSED WITH VW DEALER AND THEY STATED VW KNOWS ABOUT ALL THE OWNER INQUIRIES INTO THIS ISSUE BUT IT HAS YET TO MAKE A RECALL. MY CONCERN IS THAT BACKUP CAMERA DOES NOT WORK AS IT SHOULD AND THEREFORE THE SAFETY FEATURE THAT THE VEHICLE CAME WITH DOES NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY. THIS CAUSES THE DRIVER TO GO IN REVERSE WITH ONLY THE HELP OF MIRRORS. IF SAFETY EQUIPMENT DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY THEN IT SHOULD BE REPLACED. SECOND, WHEN THE SYSTEM CONTROLS MALFUNCTION THE VOLUME AND ON/OFF BUTTONS CANNOT BE USED AND THEREFORE DRIVER IS LEFT FOCUSING ON HOW TO FIX THIS ISSUE NOT ON KEEPING THEIR EYES ON THE ROAD. AS PER MY DISCUSSION BOTH WITH THE DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE AT CORPORATE OFFICE, THEY ADMITTED TO THE RECURRING ISSUE FOR MANY VW OWNERS BUT SAID IT HAD NOT BECOME A BIG ENOUGH ISSUE OR SAFETY CONCERN SO THERE WAS NOT RECALL. MY QUESTION IS IF SYSTEM (BACKUP CAMERA/RADIO/NAVIGATION) IS ALREADY A DOCUMENTED ISSUE FOR MANY OWNERS AND DOES NOT ALLOW A SAFETY FEATURE TO WORK PROPERLY (BACKUP CAMERA) OR CAN CAUSE A DISTRACTION FOR A VEHICLE OPERATOR THEN WHY IS NOT A RECALL. I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW VEHICLE WITH THE EXPECTATION THAT ALL EQUIPMENT WOULD WORK AS DESCRIBED.
TAKATA INFLATORS, AIRBAG INFLATED ON IT'S OWN WHILE TURNING LEFT INTO A PARKING LOT AND CAUSED MY WIFE TO LOOSE CONTROL AND HIT A STATIONARY OBJECT-SIGN POLE CAUSING MAJOR DAMAGE ($8,000) TO THIS VEHICLE. VEHICLE IN REPAIR FACILITY FOR ALMOST 2 MONTHS AWAITING REPLACEMENT AIRBAG AND SEATBELT PART FROM VW. AIRBAG INFLATED AND SEATBELT LOCKED UP ON PASSENGER SIDE.

26,050 MILES AND LOOKING AT A $5,000 REPAIR BILL FOR FUEL PUMP FAILURE! SOMETHING ABOUT ULTRA LOW SULFUR AND LUBRICITY. CAR JUST DIED AND HAD TO COAST OUT OF TRAFFIC
EXCESS VIBRATIONS WHILE BRAKING ON VEHICLE WITH 30K MILES. DEALER CLAIMS THAT ISSUE IS IN THE BREAKING SYSTEM, PROBABLY DEFORMATION OF ROTOR CAUSING UNSAFE AND EXCESS VIBRATIONS WHILE BREAKING. THE VIBRATION IS BIG ENOUGH TO MOVE THE STEERING WHILE BREAKING CAUSING SAFETY ISSUES. THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A CAR WITH LOW MILEAGE. PROBABLY ROTOR DESIGN NOT GOOD ENOUGH FOR ROAD CONDITIONS AT US.
VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY STALLS WHILE BRAKING. DOES NOT TRIGGER A FAULT CODE WITH VEHICLES COMPUTER. HAVE TAKEN VEHICLE TO DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES AND HAVE STILL NOT BEEN ABLE TO DIAGNOSE ISSUE. CAUSE OF INCIDENT: UNKNOWN
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP. AS A RESULT, THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE FRONT OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE CONTACT, WHO WAS THE FRONT PASSENGER, SUSTAINED RIB INJURIES, THE DRIVER SUSTAINED HAND INJURIES, AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE OCCUPANT SUSTAINED MINOR ABRASIONS. ALL PASSENGERS REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED, BUT WAS TOWED AWAY FROM THE CRASH SCENE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 16,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

" TAKATA RECALL" I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO GET THE AIR BAGS IN MY TWO VW'S FOR OVER A YEAR. I AM TOLD THAT NO ONE HAS THESE PARTS. IT IS PUTTING MYSELF AND MY DAUGHTER IN DANGER. WHEN I SPEAK TO THE MANAGER HE ACKNOWLEDGES MY WORRIES BUT MINIMIZES THE RISKS. IF THEY EXPLODE MY DAUGHTER OR I COULD BE KILLED. I DON'T BELIEVE THAT THE RISKS ARE MINIMAL. I DO BELIEVE THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MORE THAT VW CAN DO, OTHER THAN OFFERING TO GIVE ME MORE ON A TRADE IN. WHEN THEY ADMIT THAT MANY OF THE CARS ON THEIR LOTS HAVE THE SAME DANGEROUS PROBLEM. VW, AND I MEAN ALL OF THEIR DEALERSHIPS SHOULD BE VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS"MINIMAL" PROBLEM WILL CAUSE SOMEONES DEATH! INSTEAD OF A CHEAP FIX THEY WILL HAVE A HUGE LAWSUIT WORTH MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 39,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
PULLED OUT OF DRIVEWAY, ACCELERATED UPHILL. SUDDEN LOUD WHINE AND LOSS OF POWER. GLOW PLU G LIGHT AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DROVE BACK TO HOUSE IN LIMP MODE, CALLED TO HAVE IT TOWED TO DEALER. DEALER FOUND BROKEN TURBOCHARGER.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO VEHICLE UNINTENDED ACCELERATION. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE AND HIS WIFE EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS, WHEN PREPARING TO PARK. THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS OCCURRED WHILE PULLING INTO HIS DRIVEWAY. IN EACH OF THE FIRST TWO INCIDENTS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY SURGED WITHOUT APPLICATION TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. THE THIRD INCIDENT, RESULTED IN DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, WHEN HIS WIFE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT. WHEN SHE TOOK HER FOOT OFF THE ACCELERATOR TO BRAKE AND PARK THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED OVER A CURB AND HIT THE WALL OF A BUILDING. THE IMPACT CAUSED THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY AND CAUSED OVER $5,000 IN DAMAGE. *JB

TURBO OCCASIONALLY MAKES A DISTANT WHINING NOISE UPON STARTUP BUT STOPS WITHIN A COUPLE OF SECONDS. DID THE DEALERSHIP PERFORM ALL MAINTENANCE AND ON SCHEDULE: YES (2 DIFFERENT DEALERS FOR MAINTENANCE. ONE DID 10K AND TURBO, THE OTHER DID THE 20K). IF NOT DEALERSHIP, WHAT OIL WAS USED/MILES ON OIL: OIL WAS NOT CHANGED AS PART OF THE TURBO FAILURE/REPLACEMENT. OIL LINES WERE NOT REPLACED EITHER. 5W40 WAS USED FOR 20K SERVICE AT VW DEALER PRIOR TO TURBO FAILURE. DO YOU INTERRUPT DPF REGENERATORS: TRY NOT TO AS MOST TIMES I CAN SMELL THE REGEN AND NOTICE THE HIGHER RPMS AND WILL CONTINUE DRIVING. MY DAUGHTERS 2014 VW PASSAT TDI FAILED ON FRIDAY, 2/27/2015. HER CAR LOST POWER AND WAS MAKING WHIRLING AND CLANKING NOISES. SHE OF COURSE PULLED OVER AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF RIGHT AWAY. THERE WAS NO WARNING LIGHT OF ANY KIND, EVEN WHEN I TURNED IT ON BRIEFLY TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING. AFTER A VERY BRIEF START, I COULD SEE WHAT SHE WAS TALKING ABOUT ALONG WITH A VERY STRONG OIL BURNING SMELL. THERE WAS NO OIL LEAKING FROM THE CAR ANYWHERE, BUT I DID NOTICE WHEN I PULLED THE OIL DIP STICK THAT THERE WAS NO OIL. IT APPARENTLY HAD BURNED IT UP. WE HAD THE CAR TOWED DIRECTLY TO DON BEYER VW AND WENT THE NEXT DAY (SHE BROKE DOWN LATE EVENING). WE ASKED THE SERVICE CENTER IF THIS WAS A COMMON ISSUE AND THEY SAID NO. HOWEVER, WHEN WE EXPLAINED WHAT HAPPENED, THEY IMMEDIATELY SAID IT SOUNDED LIKE THE TURBO FAILED. INTERESTING THAT I AM FINDING ON THE INTERNET MANY OTHER INDIVIDUALS WITH THE SAME ISSUE SO I DON'T QUITE TRUST THAT WAS THE CASE. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN SUDDENLY MY SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE A GUNSHOT THAT SCARED THAT[XXX] OUT MY FAMILY AND ME. VOLKSWAGEN DOES NOT WANT TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR BECAUSE AN OUTSIDE SOURCE HIT IT. FIRST THERE WAS NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME AT LEAST FOR 200 METERS. SECOND IT LOOKS LIKE THE GLASS PUSHED OUT FROM THE INSIDE OUT. I ASKED IF THEY HAD ANY PROOF AND TOLD ME THAT THE GLASS WAS PUSHED OUT AND THAT SOMETHING HAD TO HIT IT. THEY ARE WILLING TO PAY HALF THE COST BUT I BELIEVE THEY DON'T WANT TO PAY THE FULL COST BECAUSE THEY DON'T WANT ADMIT TO FAULT. TAKATA RECALL. THIS RECALL IS FAR TOO SLOW. IT IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY ITEM, AND IT IS MORE THAN A YEAR THAT THIS PROBLEM HAS BEEN WELL KNOW. NHTSA MUST COMPEL TAKATA AND THE CAR MANUFACTURERS TO INCREASE PRODUCTION OR OUTSOURCING OF THE DEFECTIVE PARTS. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT PRODUCTION COULD HAVE BEEN INCREASED LONG AGO IF THE PARTS WERE BEING SOLD AT A PROFIT. THIS IS SHAMEFUL ON THE PART OF NHTSA, TAKATA AND THE AUTOMOBILE MANUFACTURERS.
