POORLY DESIGNED HEATER CORE CLOGS PREMATURELY REGARDLESS OF MAINTENANCE RESULTING IN INABILITY TO DEFROST WINDSHIELD BEFORE OR WHILE DRIVING, ESPECIALLY IN COLDER CLIMATES. THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD COOLING SYSTEM FLUSHED AT 3 YEARS OF AGE, WELL IN ADVANCE OF RECOMMENDED INTERVAL AND, YET AS SEEN IN MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS ON COMPUTER SEARCH STILL HAS CLOGGED. 54,750 MILES ON A VEHICLE LESS THAN 5 YEARS OLD THAT WE CANNOT FEEL SAFE OPERATING DURING TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING DUE TO LIKELIHOOD OF CONDENSATION FROM OUR BREATHING FREEZING ON INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SHIFT TO SECOND AND THIRD GEAR WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO ASSIST WITH THE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIR OF THE VEHICLE. THE VOLKSWAGEN DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 69,125.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS UNDERGOING MAINTENANCE BY AN INDEPENDNDENT MECHANIC, TRASMISSION FLUID WAS FOUND LEAKING UNDENEATH THE VEHICLE. AFTER LOOKING UP RECALL INFOFRMATION ONLINE, THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS INFORMED THAT ALTHOUGH THERE WAS A WARRANTY ON THE VEHICLE, IT HAD ALREADY EXCEEDED THE MILEAGE LIMIT. AS A RESULT, THE MANUFACTURER COULD NOT ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COST. THE MANUFACTURER ALSO DID NOT ASSIST WITH SCHEDULING AN APPOINTMENT FOR THE CONTACT SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THE FAILURE. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
HEATER BLOWS COLD AIR. DOES NOT ALLOW FOR DEFROSTING WHILE DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE VEHICLE DUE TO A BROKEN CLOCK SPRING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT UPON DUE TO THE FAILURE, THE STEERING WHEEL WOULD MAKE A CRACKING NOISE WHILE BEING TURNED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE WITH A FRACTURED CLOCK SPRING. UPON INVESTIGATION, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE CONTACT ALSO TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WINN VOLKSWAGEN WOODLAND HILLS LOCATED AT 21141 VENTURA BLVD, WOODLAND HILLS, CA 91364 WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A DIAGNOSTIC AND THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY OR THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE MATTER AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS A 140,000.
DRAINS NEW BATTERY OVERNIGHT... HEAR ELECTRIC COMPONENT RUNNING WHEN OPENING DRIVER SIDE DOOR GAS SMELL IN ENCLOSE ENVIRONMENT (GARAGE) ALTHOUGH NO LEAK FOUND ON THE FLOOR. ONGOING PROBLEM, IT CAN GO A COUPLE OF WEEKS WITHOUT RECHARGING BATTERY, BUT SUDDENLY IS DEAD...
I HAD TURNED MY CAR ON AND NOTICED MY AIRBAG LIGHT HAD COME ON AND ALL MY CONTROLS AND HORN HAD STOPPED WORKING. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I TOOK IT INTO A REPAIR SHOP AND THEY SHOWED ME A RECALL THAT HAPPENED IN 2015. THE RECALL SAID THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING MAY FAIL AND THAT THIS COULD EFFECT ALL CONTROLS, INCLUDING THE HORN. (NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000) THEY ASKED ME TO LOOK INTO THIS BEFORE FIXING. SO, I CALLED THE VOLKSWAGEN SERVICE CENTER TO CHECK, AND UNFORTUNATELY MY CAR WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THIS RECALL, EVEN THOUGH IT SAYS 2012-2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT THE COST OF THIS HAPPENING TO MY CAR IS OVER $800.00. NOTHING I DID TO MAKE THIS HAPPEN, IT JUST HAPPENED. I AM BAFFLED THAT THIS WAS A RECALL IN THE PAST AND ONLY COVERED A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF VINS. CLEARLY, MY CAR AND OTHERS (BASED OFF OF THE OTHER COMPLAINTS I HAVE READ) ARE HAVING THIS SAME SAFETY ISSUE THAT VOLKSWAGEN IS LIABLE FOR BUT NOT TAKING IT INTO ACCOUNT. I AM VERY UPSET KNOWING THEY WILL NOT COVER THIS COST. WHAT IS THE POINT OF HAVING A RECALL IF THEY ONLY FIX A FRACTION OF THE CARS? VERY DISAPPOINTED. *TR
VEHICLE STOPPED BLOWING AIR THROUGH OUTLETS CAUSING FOGGING OF WNDOWS AND REDUCED VISIBILITY AIR BLOCKAGE OCCURS WHILE STATIONARY AND MOVING
THE PROBLEM BELOW WAS FIRST EXPERIENCED WHEN THE CAR WAS STATIONARY ON A CITY STREET. THE DRIVER DOOR FAILS TO OPEN AFTER BEING EXPOSED TO COLD TEMPERATURES OF ABOUT 32F OR LESS. THE EXTERIOR HANDLE BEHAVES AS USUAL, BUT DOES NOT DISENGAGE THE LATCH LOCATED IN THE DOOR JAM. DURING THESE EPISODES, THE INTERIOR HANDLE HAS A UNNATURAL AMOUNT OF RESISTANCE, SO MUCH SO THAT THE OPERATOR WILL CEASE PULLING ON THE HANDLE IN FEAR OF DAMAGING THE COMPONENTS. SOMETIMES THE DOOR WILL REGAIN IT'S NORMAL OPERATION AFTER PRESSING THE LOCK AND UNLOCK BUTTON MULTIPLE TIMES ON THE INTERIOR DRIVERS SIDE PANEL. LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE CAR FROM THE PASSENGER'S PANEL WILL NOT YIELD THE SAME RESULTS. WHEN IT'S EXECUTED FROM THE PASSENGER PANEL, THE DRIVERS DOOR LOCK DOES NOT AUDIBLY ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE. PLEASE NOTE, EVEN AFTER MANAGING TO OPEN THE DOOR AT THE BEGINNING OF A TRIP, DOES NOT MEAN IT WILL OPEN WHEN YOU ARRIVE AT YOUR DESTINATION. I'VE EXPERIENCE THIS MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN DEPARTING MY PLACE OF RESIDENCE (DID NOT LEAVE UNTIL THE DOOR WAS 'FIXED') AND THEN ARRIVING AT WORK. THIS ISSUE IS WELL KNOWN IN THE MORE RECENT MODELS OF VOLKSWAGEN PASSATS AS SEARCH ENGINES YIELD A MULTITUDE OF RESULTS. IT WAS FIRST NOTICED IN THE EARLY MONTHS OF 2019, DID NOT PERSIST OVER THE SUMMER, AND BEGAN AGAIN IN NOVEMBER OF 2019.
WHILE DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A SUDDEN AND CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OF THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP. THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 43K ON IT AND WAS JUST PURCHASED AFTER RECEIVING THE TDI UPDATE 3K MILES AGO. THE FUEL PUMP FAILURE OCCURRED AROUND 60-70 MPH ON THE HIGHWAY AND LEAD TO THE VEHICLE LOSING ALL POWER AND BARELY MAKING IT TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. I HAVE NOW LEARNED THAT THIS FAILURE HAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED MY FUEL SYSTEM AND IS NOT COVERED BY VW EVEN THOUGHTHEY ARE USING THE SAME PART THAT THEY ARE COVERING FOR THE 2010-2013 MODEL YEARS THEY OFFERED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON. NOT ONLY IS THIS INCREDIBLY UNSAFE, AS A CONSUMER THIS TYPE OF UNPREDICTABLE AND COMMON FAILURE IS UNACCEPTABLE.
TIMING CHAIN DECIDED TO GIVE UP AS I WAS DRIVING ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. NOW I'M STUCK HAVING TO POTENTIALLY REPLACE THE ENGINE, A 5K BILL. JUST PURCHASED THE CAR LAST YEAR AND STILL MAKING PAYMENT ON IT. NEVER HAD ANY INDICATION OR ILLUMINATION ON THE DASHBOARD OF WARNING FOR THE ENGINE FAILURE
THE DRIVER DOOR LATCH. WHEN IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES, THE DOOR LATCH WILL NOT OPEN/CLOSE. WHEN UNLOCKING/LOCKING THE CAR, YOU CAN HEAR THE DOOR LATCH MECHANISM TRYING TO UNLOCK/LOCK BUT WILL NOT. ALL OTHER DOORS ARE WORKING APPROPRIATELY. I'VE HAD TO CLIMB THOUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE TO ATTEMPT TO OPEN THE DRIVER DOOR WITH EXCESSIVE FORCE. IF I AM ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE, IT WILL THEN NOT SECURELY CLOSE AND LOCK. HOWEVER, THERE HAVE BEEN MULTIPLE INSTANCES WHERE I CANNOT GET THE DOOR OPEN-THUS RENDERING ME WITHOUT TRANSPORTATION/USE OF MY CAR. THERE WAS ONE INSTANCE LAST WINTER SEASON, ON A FREEZING MORNING, WHERE I HAD TO OPEN MY CAR DOOR THROUGH THE PASSENGER SIDE. I WAS ABLE TO CLOSE AND LOCK MY DOOR, SO I DROVE TO WORK. HOWEVER, WHEN ROUNDING A CORNER WHEN TURNING, MY DRIVER DOOR SWUNG OPEN. THANKFULLY, MYSELF AND NO ONE ELSE WAS HARMED. I THEN HAD TO HOLD MY DOOR CLOSED WHILE DRIVING THE REMAINING 1/4 MILE TO WORK. THE LATCH ISSUE ONLY HAPPENS IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES TO THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR. IF IT WARMS LATER THE SAME DAY, IT WILL THEN WORK APPROPRIATELY. DURING THE INSTANCE WHERE MY DOOR OPENED-WHILE DRIVING TO WORK THERE WAS NO DOOR OPEN ALARM SIGNALING IN THE CAR, NOR CONTINUOUS NOISE OF THE LATCH MECHANISM TRYING TO LOCK. I HAVE TAKEN MY CAR IN 11/11/19 TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE AND OTHER MAINTENANCE,, WHERE THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN ADMITTED TO THIS BEING A COMMON COMPLAINT OF THIS ISSUE/SCENARIO AND THAT VW HAS COME OUT WITH AN UPDATED PART. THIS IS A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE BY THEIR FACILITY.
THE HEATER CORE BECOMES CLOGGED DUE TO EXCESSIVE FLUX USE IN THE HEATER CORE CONSTRUCTION. CAUSING NO HEAT OUTPUT ON DEFROST OR THROUGH VENTS. VWOFA HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS AS AN ISSUE AND OFFERS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE HEATER CORE, HOWEVER, THERE IS A 4-6 BACKORDER ON THE REPLACEMENT HEATER CORES. THIS IS DANGEROUS WHEN DRIVING IN WINTER CONDITIONS AND COMING UPON FREEZING RAIN/SLEET OR SNOW THIS CAUSES THE VEHICLE TO BECOME UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND POTENTIALLY LEAVING YOU STRANDED IN BAD WEATHER. CURRENTLY, VWOFA IS NOT OFFERING ANY LOANER VEHICLE WHILE THEY WAIT FOR PARTS, MAKING MY PASSAT UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN ANY POSSIBLE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS.
THIS VEHICLE HAS EXPERIENCED COOLING SYSTEM ISSUES SINCE 49000 MILES. THE CAR NOW HAS 122,500 MILES. THE HEATER CORE HAS BEEN REPLACED 5 TIMES, 2 RADIATORS, EGR COOLER, INTERCOOLER, OIL COOLER, TRANSMISSION COOLER. THESE ARE ALL IMPACTED WITH SOME SORT OF SLUDGE. VW HAD ISSUED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE HEATER CORE ADDRESSED BY TSB 80-15-04. AFTER NUMEROUS CONVERSATION WITH VW AND THE DEALER SERVICE DEPARTMENT THE PARTS OTHER THEN THE HEATER CORE THAT IS COVERED UNDER THE TSB HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT NO COST TO ME EXCEPT THE INCONVENIENCE OF THE TIME INVOLVED TO RESOLVE THESE ISSUES. VW IS CLAIMING THAT THESE VEHICLES DO NOT HAVE AN ISSUE OTHER THAN WHAT THE TSB ADDRESSES. I HAVE SINCE TRADED THE CAR IN ON A 2015 PASSAT TDI THAT NOW APPEARS TO BE EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUES. THERE ISN'T A TSB OR EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE COOLING SYSTEM/HEATER ON THIS MODEL. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A SAFETY ISSUE, NOT HAVING THE PROPER HEATING SYSTEM COULD IMPAIR VISIBILITY IN THE WINTER.
WHILE THE CAR WAS STATIONARY, WHEN I STARTED IT AFTER WORK, I BACKED OUT OF MY PARKING PLACE AND MY AIRBAG ERROR LIGHT CAME ON. THERE WERE NO NOISES. I PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND TURNED IT OFF. I THEN TURNED IT BACK ON AND NOTICED THE STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS AND HORN WERE ALSO NOT WORKING. I CALLED MY HUSBAND, WHO USED GOOGLE TO DETERMINE MY CLOCK SPOOL HAS FAILED AND MY VIN ISN'T PART OF A SAFETY RECALL BUT THE GOVERNMENT HAS DOCUMENTED IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS CAR. PLEASE EXPAND YOUR RECALL TO INCLUDE PROTECTING EVERYONE WITH THIS ISSUE, I DON'T BELIEVE CONSUMERS SHOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THESE REPAIRS AS THEY ARE NOT MAINTENANCE RELATED, BUT RATHER, FAILURE OF MANUFACTURER EQUIPMENT.
VEHICLE ENGINE LIGHT COMES AND GOES WAY. THE VEHICLE JERKS/SHAKES WHEN WAITING THE RED SIGNALS AND LOOSES POWER AND HAD TO STOP THE VEHICLE AND START THE VEHICLE.I HAVE DONE ALL THE OIL ACCORDING TO THE RECOMMENDED MILAGE BY THE DEALER. AND ALSO IT LOOSES POWER WHEN TAKING TURNS, IN THAT CASE NEED TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND START AGAIN. THIS HAPPENS WHEN VEHICLE WAITS THE RED SIGNAL AND MOVE/SHAKES HEAVILY AND HAD TO PUT THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND STOP IT. THOUGH VEHICLE IS 5 YEAR AND RAN BARELY 55K AND STARTED SHOWING SYMPTOMS AS MENTIONED AS ABOVE.I STRONGLY BELIEVE THIS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE MANUFACTURING. BELOW IS THE REPORT FROM THE DEALER. ------------------- CAM FAULTS, MISFIRES. SCANNED VEHICLE AND FOUND CAM FAULT P034100, ALL CYLINDER MISFIRES FAULTS. TRACED FAULT TO TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER FAILURE. ------------------------ I HAVE ALSO ATTACHED THE INVOICE AND DIAGNOSES RESULTS ABOUT THE ISSUE. AND ALSO FOUND IN INTERNET RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUE THAT THEY HAVE SEEN OTHER VW VEHICLES. THE ISSUE SEEMS TO BE SIMILAR, HOWEVER VW/VW DEALER SEEMS NOT ACCEPTING AND DOING REPAIR FOR FREE. THE PROBLEM I'M HAVING WITH MY 2014 PASSAT IS THAT ONE DAY OUT THE BLUE MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I PARKED AND TURN OF THE CAR THINKING THAT WOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR BACK UP, THE AIRBAG IS STILL ON AND NOW THE HORN AND ALSO THE BUTTONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL ISN'T WORKING ANYMORE. I HAVE NOT HIT ANYTHING OR HAD ANY ACCIDENTS PERIOD. I SEE MANY COMPLAINTS FROM VW OWNERS ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE....BUT I DON'T SEE ANY RECALLS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. THIS IS A BIG ISSUE FOR ME BECAUSE I LIVE IN ILLINOIS AND MY CAR HORN DOESN'T WORK.
DEC 26 2018 THE CAR STALLED AS I WAS BACKING UP OUT OF MY PARKING SPACE, PUSHED THE CAR BACK INTO THE SPACE AND WAITED 20 MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED AND I DROVE IT TO THE VW DEALER AND WAS TOLD DO NOT USE WAWA GAS. JUNE 21 2019 THE CAR STALLED AS I WAS BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AT TRADER JOES PUSHED THE CAR BACK INTO SPACE .WAITED 20 MINUTES STARTED CAR WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY PROBLEMS CAR HAD 69,050 MILES STILL UNDER WARRANTY. OCTOBER 1 ST BACKING OUT OF TRADER JOES PARKING LOT AND CAR STALLS AGAIN WAIT 30 MINUTES AND THEN DRIVE TO THE DEALER AND I AM TOLD I NEED A FUEL PUMP AND MODULE. AND NOW THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY.. I HAVE READ THAT SEVERAL MODELS OF VW HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THE FUEL PUMP BUT MINE WAS NOT INCLUDED.
AIRBAG SIGN CAME ON AND THE HORN STOPPED WORKING, CAR WAS FOUND TO HAVE A FAULTY CLOCK SPRING, AFTER REPLACEMENT OF CLOCK SPRING, THERE WAS A SHORT AND THE CLOCK SPRING HAD TO BE REPLACED YET AGAIN. AIR BAG SIGN CAME ON AGAIN AND THERE WAS ANOTHER SHORT IN A WIRE, CLOCK SPRING HAD TO BE REPLACED THREE TIMES. FAULTY WIRES AND CLOCK SPRING.
I EXPERIENCING A FUEL DISTRIBUTION ISSUE. IT APPEARS TO BE FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. MY CAR SPUTTERS AND MISFIRES WHILE DRIVING. THE ENGINE READINGS ARE CONSTANTLY CHANGING. THE ENGINE IDLES HIGH WHILE IT IS STATIONARY. WHEN I ACCELERATE TO GO UP A HILL OR INCLINE MY CAR SPUTTERS UNCONTROLLABLY. I HAVE REPLACED THE SPARK PLUGS AND NUMBER OF OTHER PARTS BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS.
YESTERDAY, AS I WAS TURNING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I HEARD AN UNUSUAL CLICKING NOISE COMING FROM MY STEERING WHEEL. I DROVE TO WORK (APPROX 2 MILES FROM MY HOME) AND PARKED CAR. WHEN I STARTED MY CAR 8 HOURS LATER, MY DASH SCREEN READ "ERROR AIRBAG" AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON. THE CLICKING NOISE IS STILL PRESENT BUT DOESN'T OCCUR EVERY TIME I TURN THE WHEEL... ONLY SOMETIMES. THIS MORNING,(ERROR LIGHT STILL ILLUMINATED) AS I WAS PULLING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I NOTICED MY CONTROL FUNCTIONS ON STEERING WHEEL WERE NO LONGER WORKING. I AM TERRIFIED THAT MY AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY. MY VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN INVOLVED IN ANY ACCIDENTS AND I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT PART OF THE TAKATA RECALL BUT THE ISSUES I AM HAVING SEEM VERY SIMILAR.

WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF TWO ADDITIONAL UNKNOWN OPEN RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. WHILE DRIVING FROM THE DEALER BACK TO THE RESIDENCE THE ELECTRONIC POWER CONTROL (EPC) WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE SAME DEALER WAS CONTACTED BY PHONE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE OIL LEVEL IN THE VEHICLE WAS LOW. THE CONTACT DISPUTED THAT THE OIL LEVEL WAS LOW AND INSTEAD STATED THAT EPC WARNING LIGHT FAILURE WAS DUE TO A THROTTLE BODY FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. AFTER TWO DAYS, THE EPC WARNING LIGHT AGAIN BECAME ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS AGAIN TAKEN BACK TO THE SAME DEALER AND REMAINED IN THE CUSTODY OF THE DEALER FOR TWO WEEKS. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WOULD BE A $600 CHARGE TO PLACE AN OIL LEVEL MONITOR ON THE VEHICLE HOWEVER DUE TO THE DISPUTE BETWEEN THE CONTACT AND THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE MANUFACTURER TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TAKEN TO ANOTHER AUTHORIZED DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS THEN TAKEN TO CHERRY HILL VOLKSWAGEN LOCATED AT 2261 NJ-70, CHERRY HILL, NJ 08002, (888) 486-1840 FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST TO BE PERFORMED. THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS PERFORMED AND AN UNDISCLOSED PART WAS REPLACED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE EPC WARNING LIGHT ALSO RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO CHERRY HILLS VOLKSWAGEN AND THE CONTACT WAS PROVIDED AN ESTIMATE OF $800 TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, IT WAS STATED THAT THE REPAIR MAY NOT FIX THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT THERE WAS NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
THE AIRBAG CONTROL MODULE WENT BAD ON THIS VEHICLE WHEN THE CAR WAS ONLY FIVE YEARS OLD. VOLKSWAGEN HAS RECALLS ON OTHER VEHICLES AIR BAG CONTROL MODULES YET HAS NOT ISSUED ONE FOR THIS MAKE AND MODEL YET. VOLKSWAGEN IS CHARGING OVER $800 FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THE CONTROL MODULE. THIS IS NOT A COMPONENT THAT SHOULD BE BREAKING SO SOON ON THESE VEHICLES AND VOLKSWAGEN SHOULD HONOR REPLACING THEM.
ON MARCH 27, 2019, DURING A STATE SAFETY INSPECTION, THE RIGHT REAR COIL SPRING WAS SHOWN TO BE FRACTURED. IT WAS REPAIRED BY NISSAN OF SOMERSWORTH, NH ON JUNE 29, DURING A REAR BRAKE REPAIR, THE LEFT COIL SPRING WAS FOUND TO BE FRACTURED. REPAIR NOT YET DONE. I THINK IT IS MORE THAN A COINCIDENCE THAT BOTH FRACTURE WITHIN A 3 MONTH PERIOD. THEY WERE POORLY MANUFACTURED. CURRENTLY THERE IS A RECALL FOR OTHER VW MODES HAVING FAULTY REAR COIL SPRINGS. I THINK THIS MODEL AND YEAR REQUIRES A RECALL AS WELL.

TAKATA RECALL - I EXPERIENCED REDUCED VISIBILITY AT NIGHT.
AIRBAG LIGHT STAYS ILLUMINATED. NONE OF THE STEERING WHEEL ELECTRICSL WORKS, INCLUDING THE HORN.
VEHICLE STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE FUEL GAUGE SHOWING THAT THE VEHICLE WAS EMPTY WHEN WE FILL UP THE TANK. AFTER THE TANKS WAS ABOUT 3/4 OR LESS THEN GAUGE WILL START WORKING. I REPORTED THIS PROBLEM TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW, BUT THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES, AT ONE POINT, IF I REMEMBER WELL THEY SAID IT WAS A SENSOR. THE LAST FEW MONTHS THE CAR STARTED HAVING ISSUES STARTING AND WE THOUGHT IT WAS THE BATTERY. BATTERY WAS REPLACED AND IT HAPPENED A FEW MORE TIMES, WHEN WE PARKED THE CAR IT WILL NOT START. THE NEXT DAY STARTS WITH NO ISSUES FOR A FEW DAYS OR WEEKS. FINALLY, ON 3/8/19, THE CAR WILL WILL NOT START ANYMORE AND IT HAD TO BE TOWED. THE ENGINE TURNS AND EVERYTHING LOOKS FINE. WHEN I DID SOME RESEARCH, IT SHOWS SOME FUEL PUMP ISSUES WITH 2014 VOLKSWAGEN CC AND OTHER MODELS, BUT NOT THE PASSAT. I REMOVE THE BACK SEAT OF THE CAR TO ACCESS THE FUEL PUMP TO CHECK IF I CAN FEEL THE PUMP RUNNING AND CHECK IF THERE WAS POWER TO THE PUMP. TO MY SURPRISE, WHEN I REMOVED THE PLUG TO CHECK THE POWER, THE CONNECTOR WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED AND THERE WAS SOME LIQUID (ASSUME WAS WATER) ON THE CONNECTOR. I WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND REPORTED THE ISSUE, BUT I WAS IGNORED AS THEY NEVER SEEN ANY ISSUES WITH THE PUMP. ON 2014, WE BOUGHT TWO PASSAT A FEW MONTHS APART. THE FIRST ONE WAS HAVING ISSUES WHEN RUNNING, THE ENGINE STALLS. WE REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANY ISSUES. AFTER A FEW ACCIDENTS SCARES, MEANING IT WAS VERY CLOSE TO HAPPENS, WE HAD TO RID OF THE OTHER PASSAT LAST YEAR. NOW WITH THIS ISSUE ON THE SECOND PASSAT, WE THINK THAT ISSUES WITH CARS ARE RELATED. I was turning the steering wheel in my vehicle and heard a crunching/clicking sound. After checking what the issue was, I was told that it was the clock spring which was not covered under the warranty or a recall as per the dealership. My airbag light is now on and may not be functioning properly. My horn no longer works along with any of the functions in my steering wheel such as my radio and phone connection. I was also told that the faulty clock spring could effect other electronic functions in my vehicle. There were no warning lights prior to the malfunction of the clockspring.
KEY INJECTION CYLINDER NOT ALLOWING ME TO START MY CAR. I PARKED MY CAR IN MY DRIVEWAY AND REMOVED THE KEY. LATER IN THE DAY I WENT TO START MY CAR AND MY KEY WOULD NOT FIT IN THE KEY CYLINDER. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH TWO PARTS TO BE CHANGED AT A COST OF $840. THE CAR DOESN'T EVEN HAVE 60,000 MILES. IS THERE A RECALL FOR THIS?
MY CAR WAS PARKED IN MY PARKING SPOT WHEN I TRIED TO INSERT MY KEY IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER. THERE WAS A WHITE PLASTIC PIECE INSIDE THE IGNITION THAT WOULD NOT ALLOW MY KEY IN TO START THE ENGINE. Approximately 2 years ago the backup camera and infotainment system ceased working. I complained to the dealership but they said that failure of the system was a "characteristic" and not a "defect". In my opinion, having an operational backup camera is a safety feature. They quoted me over $2,500 to repair. I now see on the internet that VW has issued a recall of over 32,000 vehicles (model year 2021) for the exact same problem -- losing the rearview camera and infotainment displays. By the way, lose of the system in my car also means that I cannot use my mobile phone "hands-free" thru the car, which is also a safety feature. So, if VW is issuing a recall for 2021 vehicles for this same issue as my car, why must I pay over $2,500 for it to be repaired on my 2014 Passat?

DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WONT UNLATCH. DUE TO A BAD DESIGN, THE DRIVERS SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN WHEN THAT TEMPERATURE IS BELOW FREEZING. VW HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS AS A PROBLEM, BUT WILL NOT RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE SINCE THE DRIVER CANNOT EXIT THE VEHICLE IN AN EMERGENCY. I CALLED THEM BUT THEIR STAND IS THAT THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY SO TOO BAD. THE CONDITION ONLY EXISTS WHEN THE TEMPERATURE IS BELOW FREEZING. THE PROBLEM IS WELL KNOW BASED ON SOCIAL MEDIA POSTS. I THINK VW SHOULD TAKE SOME RESPONSIBILITY FOR THE DESIGN FLAW.

AND THEN RIGHT AWAY, HE CUT IN FRONT OF ME, TO AGAIN SWITCH TO THE MOST LEFT LANE. I WAS ALMOST GOING TO HIT HIM BECAUSE OF THIS RECKLESS MOVE. HE DIDN'T SIGNAL AND WAIT FOR ME (OR SOMEONE ELSE) TO GIVE HIM THE WAY. HE JUST CUT IN FRONT ME. I HORNED HIM AND THEN HE SHOWED ME HIS MIDDLE FINGER.
