THE VEHICLE HAS A BAD CLOCK SPRING (AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND NOT CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL ARE FUNCTIONING). THE CLOCK SPRING HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE AT THE DEALERSHIP (MARCH 2015 & JULY 2013).
2014 CAR. DEC 2017 HEAT HAS FAILED BECAUSE OF PROBLEM WITH HEATER CORE WHICH FOLLOWED FAILURE OF RADIATOR IN 2/2017. REPLACED RADIATOR IN 2/2017 AND HEATER CORE IN 12/2017. 10/2019 HEAT FAILED AGAIN. HEAT IS INSUFFICIENT TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR IN COLD ICY WEATHER IN NORTHEAST. WINTER IS HEAR AGAIN AND HEAT IS INADEQUATE TO KEEP WINDSHIELD CLEAR.
THE TRUNK LATCH HAS FAILED AND TRUNK WON'T OPEN. THE SEAT RELEASE MECHANISM TO ACCESS TRUNK IS ALSO INSIDE THE TRUNK. SO NO WAY TO OPEN THE TRUNK
THE MOTOR KEPT MAKING NOISE DIDN'T KNOW WHAT IT WAS WENT TO VOLKSWAGEN OF MEMPHIS THE MOTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, 2 MONTHS LATER SMELLED GAS COMING FROM CAR THE FUEL INJECTOR HAD TO BE REPLACED, 2 MONTHS AFTER THAT THE OVERHEAT INDICATOR WAS ON COULDN'T DRIVE THE CAR THE WATER PUMP WENT OUT WAS OUT OF SEVERAL THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS NOT HAPPY WITH THE CAR AT ALL BUT ALMOST DONE PAYING ON IT WILL NOT BUY ANOTHER.
I HAVE A 2014 VW PASSAT-CAR WENT IN FOR A RECALL FOR AIRBAGS. (VW IS SAYING THAT IT IS NOT TAKATA RECALL) AT THE TIME MY CAR WAS TAKEN IN, THERE WERE NO PROBLEMS WITH IT. HAD THE RECALL COMPLETED AND MAYBE WEEKS LATER MY CLOCK SPRING GOES OUT (TOOK A RIGHT TURN, HEARD A CLICK, AND THE "SEATBELT AIRBAG MALFUNCTION" LIGHT TURNED ON) ALL THE CONTROLS ON MY STEERING WHEEL GO OUT, INCLUDING THE HORN. I TAKE IT IT TO VW IN SCOTTSDALE SHORTLY AFTER THIS HAPPENED AND THEY TOLD ME THAT IT IS NOT RELATED, NOT COVERED, AND THAT MY CAR WAS NOT PART OF THE TAKATA RECALL ..(ON THEIR WEBSITE IT STATES 2012-2014 PASSAT INCLUDED IN THE REACALL) THE SERVICE MANAGER I SPOKE WITH SAID THAT HE HAS NEVER HEARD OF THE CLOCK SPRING GOING OUT ON ITS OWN. LITTLE FISHY HOW NOTHING IS WRONG WITH MY CAR, I GET THE RECALL DONE, AND WEEKS AFTER MY CLOCK SPRING GOES OUT (WHICH IS RELATED TO THE AIRBAG!) AND TOLD ME IT WOULD BE ABOUT $875 TO FIX! MY CAR HAS ONLY 58,000 MILES ON IT.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY, IT LEAKED OIL ONTO THE GROUND. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT OIL LEAKED FROM THE UPPER INTAKE TUBE INTO THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER. VOLKSWAGEN KEARNY MESA IN SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14182000 (POWER TRAIN). THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,099.
STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING DEFECTIVE, DISABLING AIR BAG AND OTHER CONTROLS. VW HAS RECALLED THIS CONDITION ON OTHER US-BUILT 2014 PASSAT MODELS, JUST NOT MINE, SINCE THE RECALL IS VIN-SPECIFIC, AND BY CHANCE, DOESN'T INCLUDE MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE.
CAR SHUT OFF ON INTERSTATE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR. CAR WAS COMPLETELY WITHOUT POWER AND COASTING WITHOUT ENGINE POWER AT ALL. AVOIDED A SERIOUS DANGEROUS HAZARDOUS SITUATION WHICH WAS A LIFE THREATENING EXPERIENCE. INEXPERIENCED DRIVER WOULD HAVE SURELY BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT. MY MASTER GERMAN MECHANICS HAVE INFORMED ME IT IS THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP THAT FAILED AND LEFT MY CAR VULNERABLE AT 70MPH SURROUNDED BY RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC. UPDATED 10/19/2017*JS
DRIVING A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT TDI IN HEAVY INTERSTATE TRAFFIC ON I-24 MY HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP FAILED LEAVING ME STRANDED IN DANGEROUS HEAVY TRAFFIC. I CAR WOULD NOT BUDGE, HAD TO BE TOWED IN AND NOW FACING PROBLEMS WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND VOLKSWAGEN OF AMERICA NOT WANTING TO REPAIR A KNOWN PROBLEMATIC PART--NOT TO MENTION A DANGEROUS PART TO FAIL AT ANYTIME WHILE OPERATING A MOTOR VEHICLE. I PRACTICE GOOD MAINTENANCE AND PROPER FUEL IS ALWAYS DISPENSED INTO MY VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT TDI AS I'M THE ONLY PERSON WHO FUELS THIS VEHICLE WITH DIESEL. I'VE DRIVEN FOR UPS, BEEN A NURSE FOR 20 YEARS AND CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS WAS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION ON THE INTERSTATE. I GOT IN AN ACCIDENT ON THE INTERSTATE BACK IN THE SUMMER OF 2017.. I HIT A DEER GOING 70 MPH. AIRBAGS WENT OFF AND THE BODY OF MY CAR WAS OBVIOUSLY DAMAGED. AFTER THAT MY CAR HAS HAD OIL LEAKS, BREAK ISSUES, "AIR BAG ERRORS", AND WAY MORE TO LIST.
TAKATA RECALL. I RECEIVED A RECALL FROM VW FOR THE TAKATA AIRBAG. IN THE DESCRIPTION, ON CARS.COM, IT SAYS "IN THE AFFECTED VEHICLES, DEBRIS MAY CONTAMINATE THE AIR BAG CLOCK SPRING, A SPIRAL WOUND, FLAT CABLE THAT KEEPS THE AIR BAG POWERED WHILE THE STEERING WHEEL IS BEING TURNED. THIS CONTAMINATION MAY TEAR THE CABLE AND RESULT IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG. CONSEQUENCE A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG WILL PREVENT THE AIR BAG FROM DEPLOYING IN THE EVENT OF A VEHICLE CRASH, INCREASING THE RISK OF INJURY." THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE. NOTHING ON MY STEERING WHEEL WORKS, NOT EVEN MY HORN. I WENT TO VW, AND THEY REPLACED THE TAKATA AIR BAG, BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE BROKEN CLOCK SPRING BECAUSE THEY SAY MY CAR WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR THE CLOCK SPRING. I THINK THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. I WAS TOLD THAT MY DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. ONE OF THE REASONS I PURCHASED THIS CAR WAS FOR THE AIRBAGS AND THE SAFETY FEATURES. HOW IS THERE NOT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. IT DID EXACTLY WHAT SAID "MAY HAPPEN."
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT. UPON STARTING THE VEHICLE, THE AIR BAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE HORN FAILED TO SOUND. ON OTHER OCCASIONS, THE STEERING WHEEL CLICKED WHEN TURNED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CLOCK SPRING FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS ALSO TAKEN TO SAVANNAH VOLKSWAGEN (50 EISENHOWER DR, SAVANNAH, GA 31406) WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS CONFIRMED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 15V483000 (AIR BAGS). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
FIRST OFF, THE BREAD STARTED GIVING ME TROUBLE A COUPLE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT VW OF THE WOODLANDS EXCLAIMED THAT THERE WAS NO ISSUE AND THAT THE BRAKE PADS HAD A FEW ROCKS IN BETWEEN THEM. AS THE WEEKS PASSED THE ISSUE GRADUALLY GOT WORST AND I COULD FEEL THE BRAKES GRIND WHEN I PROCEEDED TO COME TO A STOP. NOW THE BRAKES ARE COMPLETELY JACKED UP AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THEM REPAIRED. MY SECOND PROBLEM IS THE ELECTRICAL ISSUE THAT I'VE ENCOUNTERED. THIS DATES BACK TO AT LEAST 3 WEEKS AFTER BUYING THE CAR. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO THEM AND HAVE EVEN TAKEN THE VEHICLE IN TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT, BUT YET AGAIN I WAS GIVEN AN EXCUSE. "YOUR ALTERNATOR NEEDS TO BE CHANGED!" I WAS TOLD. I COULDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY THE ALTERNATOR WAS PREPARING TO GO OUT AFTER ONLY HAVING THE CAR FOR 5 MONTHS. BUT THAT WAS NOT THE FIXTURE OF MY PROBLEM. THE DASH BOARD LIKES COME ON AND GOES OFF REPEATEDLY IVER TIME AND I HAVE BEEN TAKING A PICTURE EACH TIME IT HAPPENS FOR MY DOCUMENTATION. IT'S VERY UNPROFESSIONAL WHAT GOES ON WITH THESE CAR DEALERSHIPS AND HOW THEY GET OVER ON PEOPLE. THIS 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT IS A BUST AND SHOULD BE RECALLED.
TAKATA RECALL: I WORK FOR THE U.S. ARMY IN GERMANY. I PURCHASED MY U.S. SPECIFICATION VW PASSAT THROUGH THE MILITARY CAR SALES PROGRAM. WHEN I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTIFICATION FOR THE AIRBAGS I BOOKED AN APPOINTMENT WITH MY LOCAL VW DEALER TO HAVE THE AIRBAGS REPLACED. WE TOOK THE CAR FOR THE APPOINTMENT AND WAS TOLD BY THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULD NOT REPLACE THE AIRBAGS OF AN AMERICAN SPECIFICATION CAR. I HAD A GERMAN ATTORNEY CALL THE DEALERSHIP TO TRY AND FIND A WAY TO HAVE THE PROBLEM RESOLVED AND WAS ULTIMATELY TOLD IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE. THE WORK AROUND WAS TO HAVE A MEMORANDUM PREPARED WHEN THE TIME COMES TO SHIP THE VEHICLE SAYING THE DEFECTIVE AUTO WILL BE REPAIRED UPON RETURN TO THE U.S.. THE PROBLEM WITH THIS IS MY JOB IS HERE AND I HAVE NO SET DATE TO RETURN TO THE U.S.. MY FAMILY IS FORCED TO DRIVE A VEHICLE WITH AIRBAGS THAT CAN KILL US. I CAN'T TRADE OR SELL THE VEHICLE BECAUSE IT HAS A KNOWN DEFECT THAT I CAN'T GET REPAIRED IN GERMANY. I NEED VW TO FIX THIS PROBLEM. AT THIS POINT I WOULD PREFER THEY TAKE THE CAR BACK. THE VW WEBSITE HAS ONE LITTLE PARAGRAPH DEALING WITH MILITARY MEMBERS AND THE SOLUTION THEY PROVIDE DOES NOT HELP US BECAUSE AGAIN, WE DO NOT HAVE A RETURN DATE. THE 1-800# IS ALWAYS BUSY AND VW GERMANY BELIEVES IT IS QUITE INCAPABLE OF HAVING AN AIRBAG SHIPPED FROM THE U.S. TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. I DO NOT WANT TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ANY LONGER AND WOULD APPRECIATE ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THE CAR RETURNED TO VW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION.
ON JULY 24TH, WE LEFT A PARKING LOT IN BATTLE CREEK AND DROVE ABOUT 20 YARDS ON HILL BRADY RD. WHEN THERE WAS A LOUD RIPPING SOUND ON THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE. WE PULLED THE CAR OVER IMMEDIATELY, THINKING WE'D SHREDDED THE FRONT TIRE. UPON INSPECTION, THE TIRE WAS OK BUT THE CAR WOULD NOT RESTART. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO MAPLE HILL AUTO GROUP IN KALAMAZOO. UPON INITIAL INSPECTION ON JULY 25TH, I WAS TOLD THE INTERNAL FUEL PUMP EXPLODED, LIKE A GRENADE, SENDING METAL SHARDS THROUGHOUT THE ENGINE. WE HAVE FILED A CLAIM WITH OUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND ARE AWAITING FURTHER DETAILS.
THE CAR'S TRANSMISSION IS LISTED AS "AUTOMATIC", HOWEVER IT JERKS ON SLOW SPEEDS AND SLOWING DOWN. THIS PERFORMANCE IS DESCRIBED IN THE DSG DIAGRAM FROM THE AUTOMOTIVE TECHNOLOGY WEB SITE. IT ALSO APPEARS THAT THIS MANUFACTURER (VW) WAS THE FIRST TO DESIGN THIS AN AUTOMATED MANUAL TRANSMISSION, IT WAS NOT APPROVED BY THE NHSTA. THIS TRANSMISSION SHOULD NOT BE CLASSIFIED AND THEN CERTIFIED AS AUTOMATIC. THE BUYING PUBLIC SHOULD BE NOTIFIED IF THEIR VEHICLE HAS THIS ALTERNATE TRANSMISSION. THE JERK AND LURCH OF THE VEHICLE IS PROBLEMATIC IF THE DRIVER LOSES CONTROL AT THE EVENT THAT THE TRANSMISSION IS ACTUALLY AT FAULT. THERE IS NO GRIND IN THE GEARS LIKE A TRADITIONAL AUTOMATIC TO INDICATE MALFUNCTION. THIS OCCURS AT EVERY START, STOP WHICH MAKES IT THE REGULAR PERFORMANCE FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT HOW DOES THE OWNER KNOW WHEN THINGS ARE NOT. OCCURS STOPPING AT LIGHTS. FOLLOWING IN SLOW TRAFFIC. DRIVING UP HILL. PARKING.
2014 VW PASSAT TDI SE 2.0L MANUAL MY VEHICLE HAS 62,583 MI. ON IT. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE DIESEL "GLOW PLUG" LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING ON THE DASHBOARD AND I LOST ALL ENGINE POWER. I WAS FORTUNATE TO BE ABLE TO REACH THE ROADSIDE SAFELY AND I WAS ABLE TO BRING THE CAR TO A HALT ON THE ROADSIDE. TRYING TO START THE VEHICLE HOWEVER WAS NOT POSSIBLE, THE "GLOW PLUG" LIGHT CONTINUED TO FLASH AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. VW ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS CALLED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST VW DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAVE WAS GIVEN THE ERROR CODE INFORMATION BELOW AND TOLD MY TURBO AND ENGINE NEED TO BE REPLACED BUT THAT THEY ARE OUTSIDE OF MY 5YR/60,000 MI WARRANTY. AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING . WHY WASN'T MY VEHICLE COVERED UNDER RECALL FOR THE AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING RECALL NUMBER 15V483000? OBVIOUSLY MORE VEHICLES ARE AFFECTED. MY AIRBAG AND INSTRUMENT CONTROLS DO NOT WORK NOW DUE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V078000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE BURLINGTON VOLKSWAGEN DEALER STATED THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL WAS NOT ACTIVE AT THE MOMENT AND THEY WERE ON THE WAITING LIST FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A RECALLED TAKATA AIR BAG IN MY VEHICLKE. I DODGED A DOG IN THE ROAD AND HIT THE GUARD RAIL WHERE IT IS BURIED IN THE GROUND. MY PASSET TRAVELED 15-20 FEET UP THE GAURD RAIL. THE CAR WAS VERY DAMAGED AND MY AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. THE STATE PATROLMAN AND THE TOW TRUCK WERE CONFUSED WHY THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. I WAS IN MOTION ABOUT 75 FT FROM WHERE I TURNED LEFT ONTO THE JHWY 96. THE SPEED LIMIT IS 45MPH. I AS GOING ABOUT 20 MPH. I TURNED FROM A COUNTY STREET ONTO CO 96.
2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT WAS DIAGNOSED WITH FAILURE OF THE STEERING WHEEL CLOCK SPRING RESULTING IN LOSS OF FUNCTION FOR AIRBAG, HORN, AND STEERING WHEEL CONTROL BUTTONS. AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED, AND HORN/BUTTONS DID NOT WORK. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIR RIGHT AWAY. MY VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE EXISTING RECALL (VW 69L2, NHTSA 15V-483) EVEN THOUGH MY ISSUE APPEARED TO BE EXACTLY THE SAME CONCERNS AND SYMPTOMS AS DESCRIBED IN THE EXISTING RECALL NOTICE. THE CURRENT RECALL INCLUDES 2014 VOLKSWAGEN PASSAT CARS MANUFACTURED IN THE US, BUT MY VEHICLE WAS EXCLUDED. I HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED AT A VOLKSWAGEN DEALERSHIP (MOMENTUM VOLKSWAGEN OF JERSEY VILLAGE, HOUSTON, TX) AT MY COST OF $544.01. DATE OF REPAIR WAS 05-JUL-2017, VEHICLE MILEAGE 80200.

MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON BECAUSE MY AIRBAG CLOCK SPRING HAS TORN, WHICH HAS RESULTED IN A LOSS OF ELECTRICAL CONNECTION TO THE DRIVER'S FRONTAL AIR BAG. THE STEERING WHEEL MAKES A CLICKING NOISE WHEN TURNING AFTER THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED TO INDICATE AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE.
PASSENGER HEADLIGHT LOW BEAM TERMINAL MELTED AND FOGGED INTERIOR SURFACES OF REFLECTOR AND LENS
TAMARA RECALL THE RISKS ASSOCIATED WITH THIS RECALL INCLUDE SERIOUS INJURY AND DEATH TO THE PASSENGERS IN THE VEHICLE. I WAS NOTIFIED OF THIS RECALL ON 6/19/17 BY A SERVICEMAN AT A DEALERSHIP. I WAS NOTPREVIOUSLY NOTIFIED BY THE MANUFACTURER. I HAV RECENTLY LEARNED THAT THIS RECALL WAS ISSUED IN 2/2016. I HAVE SINCE MADE THE DECISION TO PURCHASE THIS VEHICLE FROM A LEASE. INFORMATION ABOUT THIS RECALL MAY HAVE IMPACTED MY DECISION TO PURCHASE THE VEHICLE. REGARDLESS, I BELIEVE THE ASSOCIATED RISKS ARE SERIOUS ENOUGH THAT AN OPEN RECALL FOR 17 + MONTHS IS DANGEROUS AND SIMPLY UNACCEPTABLE.

I DRIVE A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. I HAVE A 3 YEAR OLD CAR WITH 30, 000 MILES ON IT. THE TRANSMISSION JAMMED WHILE THE CAR WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. IT WAS DUE TO A CLUTCH THAT HAD BROKEN INTO PIECES AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. KEEPING IN MIND THE KIND OF TAMPERING AND MISHANDLING THAT IT WOULD NEED TO BREAK A CLUTCH I COMPLAINED TO VW ABOUT THIS AND THEY HAVE DONE NOTHING TO HELP. TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A SAFETY RECALL YESTERDAY IN MY MAIL FOR MY VW PASSAT'S TAKATA AIRBAGS. AFTER READING THE LETTER IT SEEMED PRETTY IMPORTANT THAT I GET THE CHANGE MADE SO I IMMEDIATELY CALLED MY VW DEALERSHIP TO ASK THEM TO REPLACE THE AIRBAG. UPON INFORMING VW OF THE LETTER AND THEM REVIEWING MY VIN NUMBER, THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY DON'T CURRENTLY HAVE REPLACEMENTS IN STOCK AND THEY WERENT SURE WHEN THEY WOULD BE IN. I ASKED THEM TO CALL ME WHEN THEY COME IN AND THEY SAID THEY CANT DO THAT AND FOR ME TO JUST CALL BACK IN A WEEK TO SEE IF THEY'VE COME IN. I WAS TOLD THIS WAS DUE TO THE HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP (HPFP) FAILING. WHAT WAS MOST DISTURBING WAS WHEN I WAS INFORMED THAT TO FIX THIS PROBLEM, THEY WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE FUEL SYSTEM, COSTING ME $7,500. MY CAR IS 3 YEARS OLD AND HAS 75K MILES SO I WAS BLOWN AWAY! I CALLED NUMEROUS MECHANICS AND ALL TOLD ME THEY'VE SEEN SIMILAR PROBLEMS ON VW AND AUDI VEHICLES. I WENT ONLINE TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND A NUMBER OF FORUMS WITH VW CUSTOMERS WITH IDENTICAL PROBLEMS. ALL COMPLAIN ABOUT THE HPFP FAILING AND THEN RESULTING IN METAL IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, CAUSING AN EXPENSIVE REPLACEMENT OF THE FUEL SYSTEM. I ALSO READ THAT VW HAS EXTENDED THE WARRANTY OF THE HPFP ON EARLIER MODELS DUE TO SIMILAR PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD THAT I MUST WAIT UNTIL AT LEAST SEPTEMBER, 2017, FOR THE PART TO BECOME AVAILABLE, WHICH WILL BE APPROXIMATELY 19 MONTHS SINCE THE INITIAL RECALL. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE FOR SUCH A LENGTHY PERIOD OF TIME, AND NOW THAT THE PART IS AVAILABLE TO FIX MY VEHICLE, I AM NOT ALLOWED TO OBTAIN THE FIX.
