2004 Volvo XC70 Air Bags & Restraints Problems

I received a recall notice for the defective driver airbag. The nearest dealership is 10 hours away. I called Customer care and they said I would be responsible to transport my Volvo to the dealership in Billings Montana. The vehicle is a 2004 Volvo with 188k miles. Expense and travel is prohibitive to me. I am on a fixed income and I would worry about making a 20hr round trip in an older car. My desire is to gift this car to my granddaughter when she gets her driver's lic. I could not forgive myself if the driver's airbag deployed and the result could be serious injury or death. I contacted the Volvo Customer Care service and they said they could transport the car one way. can you help?

I've been waiting for a recall repair (Recall R10136: Driver Airbag) for 5 months and a local Volvo dealer said that they haven't received necessary parts for months. This is a matter of safety and Volvo should prioritize safety. First appointment with the local dealer was Jan 14 that was canceled by the dealer due to part shortage. Second appointment was on June 15 and it was canceled again by the dealer for the same reason.

I requested Danbury, CT Volvo to have the repairs done as per the recall notice on Jan 25 and was told the parts required are on back order and they do not know when the parts will be in. I would like to know if I am in danger by continuing to use the car before the repair can b made. I REQUESTED VOLVO CARS OF SEATTLE AND CUSTOMER CARE/VOLO TO HAVE REPAIRS DONE AS PER THE RECALL NOTICE OF 1214/2021 AND WAS TOLD THE PARTS REQUIRED ARE ON BACK ORDER AND I WILL BE NOTIFIED WHEN THEY COME IN. TO DATE I HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY NOTICE FROM THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. WHEN WILL PARTS BE AVAILABLE AND CAN THIS VEHICLE BE DRIVEN SAFELY BEFORE APPROPRIATE REPAIRS ARE MADE?

FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT DOES NOT RETRACT EFFICIENTLY. SOMETIMES THE SEAT BELT CANNOT BE USED AT ALL. IT'S A SAFETY RISK. VOLVO SHOULD REPLACE THE FAULTY SEAT BELT FOR FREE. *TR

I HAD A CAR ACCIDENT YESTERDAY, CAR SLID ON ICE AND HIT TREE, TOTAL LOSS OF MY VEHICLE. I WAS DRIVING BY MY SELF, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE DRIVER SIDE AIR BAG DID NOT. *TR

I WAS T BONED AT AN INTERSECTION FROM THE RIGHT SIDE, BY A VEHICLE TRAVELING 45 MPH AND THE AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY! FRONT WHEEL, BOTH DOORS, FRAME, SEAT, POST AND SUSPENSION WERE DAMAGED. $10,000 WORTH. I WAS TEMPORARILY PARALYZED FROM THE IMPACT, I RECEIVED A CONCUSSION FROM HITTING THE AIR BAG CURTAIN EMBLEM. I SUSTAINED HEAD, NECK, BACK, LEFT SHOULDER AND RIGHT KNEE INJURY. VOLVO REPLIED, " THE DOOR HAD TO BE HIT IN A VERY SPECIFIC PLACE TO SET OFF THE AIRBAGS. I HAVE PHOTOS AND INFORMATION NEEDED UPON REQUEST. THANK YOU. *JB

FRONT SEAT BELT SHOULDER HARNESS NON-ADJUSTABLE. I AM 5"0 AND NO MATTER HOW I ADJUST THE SEAT THE SHOULDER HARNESS IS ACROSS MY NECK. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IN A ACCIDENT. MY HUSBAND IS 5"10" AND HE HAS THE SAME PROBLEM. COMPLAINED TO DEALER AND THEY SAID JUST TO ADJUST SEAT. THAT IS NOT THE SOLUTION.

CONSUMER COMPLAINED ABOUT SEAT BELT PROBLEM. SHOULDER HARNESS WAS NOT ADJUSTABLE, AND THE STRAP CAME ACROSS THE DRIVER'S NECK. THE DRIVER WAS 5'2" TALL, AND THE SEAT WAS RAISED AS HIGH AS IT COULD GO. HOWEVER, THE SEAT BELT STILL CAME ACROSS THE NECK OF THE DRIVER. *AK *LA
