Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)SERIOUS ENGINE SPEED SURGING. JUMPS TO OVER 8000 RPM. HAPPENS WHEN STOPPING ON OCTANE, NOT ALWAYS. I COULD HAVE GOT KILLED WHILE BACKING INTO MY DRIVEWAY ON A HILL. I HAVE SEEN THIS AT LEAST 4 TIMES AND WILL NOT DRIVE IT. I INFORMED MY INSURER. AT DEALER NOW, THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS AND CANNOT DUPLICATE. LOTS OF INFO ON WEB FROM OTHERS WHO HAVE SAME PROBLEM. IT SEEMS TO BE A THROTTLE CONTROL ISSUE AND CLASS ACTION SUIT HAS BEEN DONE ON YEARS JUST UP TO 2016. VOLVO HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE THROTTLE MODULE AND ECM. I ASKED THE DEALER TO RESEARCH ON THIS AND IF THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THAN REPLACE THE LIKELY SUSPECT AND SOFTWARE AS WELL AS CONTACT VOLVO FOR HELP. IF THIS IS A KNOWN ISSUE, VOLVO NEEDS GET INFO OUT AS SOMEONE IS GOING TO GET HURT OR DIE DUE TO THIS KNOWN DEFECT AND SHOULD PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. I LOVE THE CARE BUT WILL NOT DRIVE IT AS IT IS. 63K MILES ON IT. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CALL OR EMAIL. Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
