CRACKED DASHBOARD ALONG THE AREA OF SAFETY AIRBAG. *TR
SEVERAL LARGE CRACKS HAVE APPEARED ACROSS THE DASHBOARD. IT APPEARS TO BE A HUGE COMPLAINT AMONG ACURA OWNERS. THE LARGEST CRACK RUNS OVER THE PASSENGER AIRBAG RAISING THE QUESTION OF AIRBAG INTEGRITY AND FUNCTION. SUCH A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM SHOULD BE CONSIDERED A MANUFACTURER'S DEFECT AND THEREFORE BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED BY ACURA. *TR
LETTER TO THE ADMINISTRATOR FROM RE PROBLEMS WITH HIS 2004 ACURA TL *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HIS VEHICLE RECENTLY STARTED SPUTTERING DURING ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS. THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS LATER INFORMED THE TRANSMISSION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONSUMER LATER DISCOVERED A RECALL HAD BEEN ISSUED FOR THE 2ND GEAR. THE CONSUMER INQUIRED ABOUT HAVING THE WORK PERFORMED UNDER THE RECALL. HOWEVER, THE DEALER STATED THE RECALL HAD ALREADY BEEN PERFORMED PREVIOUSLY. THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, IT HAD 30,394 MILES ON IT AND IF THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED PRIOR TO HIM PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, IT WASN'T DONE PROPERLY. *JB
2004 ACURA TL POWER STEERING FLUID LEAK. DEALER STATED NOT RELATED TO RECALL REGARDING POWER STEERING HOSE PROBLEM WHICH WAS APPARENTLY REPAIRED UNDER RECALL ALREADY. ACURA DEALER REPAIRED POWER STEERING PUMP AND CHARGED OVER $600 FOR REPAIR. FELT LIKE THERE WAS NO POWER IN STEERING, LOUD NOISE GRINDING WHEN STARTING ENGINE AND FOR PERIOD WHILE DRIVING AT BEGINNING OF DRIVING EACH TIME. *TR

CRACKED DASHBOARD ON AN ACURA TL 2004 I FEEL IT MAY CRACK ALONG THE AIRBAG CAUSING IT TO DEPLOY. *TR
04 ACURA TL 73000 MILES HAS CRACKS AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. CRACKS HAVE SINCE SPREAD OVER THE ENTIRE DASH. THE SRS LIGHT STAYS ON ALL THE TIME SINCE THE CRACKS STARTED.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG PANEL, ON THE DASHBOARD, WAS SPLIT OPEN WHERE THE AIR BAGS WERE VISIBLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THE VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN THAT MANNER AND IT WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER COULD NOT CONFIRM THAT IF THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH THAT THE AIR BAGS WOULD DEPLOY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THAT THEY WOULD PAY A PERCENTAGE OF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 64,000.
MY 2004 ACURA TL HAS DEVELOPED A LARGE CRACK AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE FRONT AIR BAG IN THE DASH. THIS WAS AT ONE TIME A COMPLETELY SEALED UNIT. THE CONCERN IS THAT IF THERE WERE TO BE A DEPLOYMENT, THAT EITHER THE DEPLOYMENT WILL NOT HAPPEN, INCORRECT DEPLOYMENT BECAUSE OF THE SEAL BEING DEFECTIVE, OR THE CRACKED PORTION OF THE DASH FLYING OFF AND INJURING OR KILLING A PERSON IF DEPLOYED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD WAS CRACKING. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS NORMAL. THE DEALER OFFERED TO COVER HALF OF THE REPAIR EXPENSES HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 115,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 148,000.
MY ACURA TL HAS A LONG CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. ALL THE WAY FROM THE WINDSHIELD DOWN THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE RECTANGULAR AIR BAG INDENT. LATER IN THE AFTERNOON IT GOT LONGER. ALMOST ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THIS WILL DEFIANTLY AFFECT AIRBAG PASSENGER DEPLOYMENT IF DEPLOY. I CALLED MY LOCAL DEALER AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT. THEY SAID THAT THIS IS NOT AN ACURA PROBLEM. APPARENTLY IT IS, KNOWING MORE THAN 1000 PEOPLE WITH THIS PROBLEM. CHECK WWW.ACURAZINE.COM (CRACKED DASHBOARD) AND YOU'LL FIND IT, ALSO THERE IS A ON FACEBOOK. THIS IS MY FIRST ACURA. REALLY SURPRISED AT THE QUALITY OF THESE PARTS. FOR A LUXURY CAR AT $32K IT'S ALMOST NOT WORTH IT. ALREADY HAD THE WATER PUMP RECALLED AND SOME OTHER PARTS RECALLED. NOT ONLY THAT, MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS STARTING TO LIGHT UP INTERMITTENTLY. AT 90,000 MILES SEEMS LIKE IT'S FALLING APART. MY '97 CAMRY HAD 200,000 MILES AND STILL RAN LIKE A CHAMP UNTIL I TRADED IT IN FOR THIS THING. *TR
MY ACURA TL 04 DASH STARTED CRACKING AND SPREAD QUICKLY LIKE A DISEASE. THE CRACKS ARE ALL OVER MY DASH, RIGHT LEFT - TO TOP - OVER THE SPEAKERS, PASSENGER AIRBAG, ETC. FOR THIS EXPENSIVE OF A CAR THIS IS RIDICULOUS! I CANNOT BELIEVE THERE IS NOT A RECALL AND FOR CRACKS ALL AROUND THE AIRBAG, I WOULD THINK THAT WOULD BE A SAFETY HAZARD! MY 2004 ACURA TL HAS DEVELOPED SIGNIFICANT CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD, PARTICULARLY AROUND THE AREA OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. THESE APPEARED ABOUT A YEAR AGO AND OVERNIGHT BECAME ABOUT 14 INCHES ACROSS IN THE SIDE AREA OF THE DASH. I AM CONCERNED AIRBAGS WILL DEPLOY OR MAY FURTHER CAUSE HARM IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF DEBRIS FROM THE CRACKED AREAS. ALSO THE AIRBAG LIGHTS GOES ON INTERMITTENTLY WHICH DO NOT LET KNOW IF IT WILL WORK PROPERTY. 2004 ACURA TL - DASHBOARD CRACKED IN SEVERAL PLACES AND STILL SPREADING. CAR HAS LESS THAN 47K MILES. NOTICED FIRST CRACK EARLIER IN 2010 NEAR THE CENTER SPEAKER ON THE DASH. IT SPREAD ALL THE WAY TO THE FRONT WINDSHIELD THEN ACROSS AND OVER THE GAUGES. JUST NOTICED ANOTHER CRACK 2 DAYS AGO, BUT THIS TIME ITS ON THE DASH RIGHT ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. RESEARCHED THE ISSUE AND FOUND THAT HUNDREDS OF OTHERS HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM IN THE EXACT SAME PLACES. THOUGHT ABOUT HAVING THE CRACKS SEALED AT AN UPHOLSTERY PLACE AND THEN COVERING THE DASH WITH A COVER BECAUSE ITS SO UNSIGHTLY, BUT CALLED THE LOCAL ACURA DEALER AND THEY SAID IT WASN'T A GOOD IDEA BECAUSE IT MIGHT AFFECT HOW THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS IN A CRASH. SO FAR THEIR SOLUTION IS TO BRING IT IN AND SPEAK TO A FACTORY REP. THEY MAY BE ABLE TO REPLACE IT AT A PERCENTAGE OF THE COST, BUT IT WILL STILL BE EXPENSIVE. IT IS AN OBVIOUS AND KNOWN DEFECT, BUT WHEN I CALLED ACURA CORPORATE CUSTOMER CARE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE CRACKS THEY SAID THEY HAD NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM BEFORE. I DRIVE A 2004 ACURA TL AND AROUND SEPTEMBER OF 2010, MY DASHBOARD STARTED CRACKING AROUND THE AREA WHERE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG IS LOCATED. SINCE THEN, THE CRACK HAS SPREAD AND THE DASH HAS STARTED CRACKING IN TWO OTHER PLACES. I WAS IN NO ACCIDENT AROUND THIS TIME AND ALWAYS PARKED IN THE SHADE OR IN A GARAGE. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

I HAVE A 2004 ACURA TL THAT THE PLASTIC DASH IS CRACKING AROUND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. APPARENTLY THIS IS A VERY COMMON DEFECT DUE TO THE MANY OWNERS OF 2004 AND 2005 TL OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM I'VE FOUND ON THE INTERNET. I, AND MY MECHANIC FEEL THIS COULD EFFECT THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG, AND IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY CONCERN. *TR

I HAVE AN ACURA TL 04 WITH A CRACKED DASHBOARD WHERE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG IS LOCATED. A CRACK APPEARED ON THE DRIVER SIDE BACK IN FEBRUARY, BUT NOW ITS CRACKING WHERE THE AIRBAG IS LOCATED. *TR
HELLO, I HAVE A 2004 ACURA TL WITH 109,800 MILES ON IT. WITHIN THE PAST THREE WEEKS, THREE LARGE CRACKS DEVELOPED ON THE DASHBOARD. ONE IS DIRECTLY OVER THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE OTHER TWO ARE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OVER THE AIRBAG. MY CONCERN IS THAT THE CRACKS WILL CONTINUE TO SPREAD AND DEPLOY THE AIRBAGS CAUSING A SAFETY HAZARD. I PURCHASED THE CAR IN JUNE 2008 WITH 60K+ MILES. AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE THERE WERE NO CRACKS ON THE DASHBOARD. I'VE ALWAYS TAKEN VARIOUS STEPS TO PROTECT IT FROM THE TEXAS SUN. IT'S ALWAYS PARKED IN THE GARAGE, ALWAYS USED A SUNSHADE UP WHEN PARKED OUTSIDE, AND ALWAYS VENTED THE SUNROOF AND WINDOWS WHEN IT IS HOT OUTSIDE. AT ABOUT 8 YRS AGO, CRACKS STARTED TO APPEAR AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIBAG ON TOP OF THE DASHBOARD. THE CRACKS HAVE MULTIPLIED AND LENGTHENED SINCE THAT TIME SO THAT NOW THEY APPEAR DANGEROUSLY CLOSE TO BEING INCAPABLE OF RESTRAINING THE AIRBAG. I DO NOT KNOW WHY ACURA NEVER ISSUED A RECALL AS I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS FROM OTHERS WITH THIS SAME DEFECT. THIS PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE PREVALENT IN ACURA TL MODELS 2004 THRU 2008.

THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 83,000 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
THIS COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO 2004 ACURA TL DASH BOARDS CRACKING IN THE AREA OF THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. MY CAR WITH 94K MILE DASH CRACKED YESTERDAY PERFECTLY ALONG THE PASSENGER DASH. WHILE RESEARCHING THIS ONLINE I SEE THAT SEVERAL PEOPLE HAVE COMPLAINED AND HAVE PICTURES OF THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WHICH CAN POSSIBLY BE HAZARDOUS IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS. *TR
I NOTICED A LARGE CRACK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DASHBOARD RUNNING ALONG THE LEFT SIDE OF THE AIRBAG COMPARTMENT, WE HAVEN'T HAD ANY ACCIDENTS OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD CAUSE THIS, I HAD THE CAR INSPECTED BY THE DEALERSHIP WHERE WE PURCHASED THE CAR (NEW) IN 2004 AND I WAS TOLD IT WAS CONSIDERED A COSMETIC PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD NOT INTERFERE WITH AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT...ALSO TO REPLACE THE DASHBOARD WOULD COST $1200! I PERSONALLY FEEL THAT ACURA SHOULD BE FORCED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND REPLACE THE DASHBOARD BEFORE SOMEONE DIES BECAUSE THE PASSENGER-SIDE AIRBAG EITHER DEPLOYS WRONG OR NOT AT ALL! *TR
I OWN A 2004 ACURA TL. CAR IS NOW APPROXIMATELY 6 YEARS YOUNG, AND HAS DEVELOPED TWO UNSIGHTLY CRACKS IN THE FACTORY VINYL DASH PAD; ONE SMALL (NEAR THE CENTER SPEAKER), AND ONE LARGE! THE LARGE CRACK HAS DEVELOPED, IT APPEARS, DIRECTLY ON THE SEAM WHERE THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG MAY DEPLOY (I ASSUME BECAUSE THE VINYL MATERIAL IS MUCH THINNER HERE THAN ELSEWHERE ON THE DASH), AND I AM AFRAID THIS MAY BE A SAFETY ISSUE IN ALLOWING THE AIRBAG TO DEPLOY PROPERLY UPON FRONTAL IMPACT. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE FOR A SIX-YEAR-OLD VEHICLE, MUCH LESS A LUXURY VEHILCLE SUCH AS THIS ACURA. FROM WHAT I READ ONLINE, THERE ARE MANY OTHER OWNERS EXPERIENCING SIMILAR OR IDENTICAL ISSUES WITH THEIR TL DASH, AND I BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE COVERED BY A RECALL FROM ACURA. I TRUST THIS CAR TO THE ENDS OF THE EARTH, BUT AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE WORKMANSHIP AND QUALITY OF THIS, MY SEVENTH (7TH), HONDA/ACURA VEHICLE. THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR IS LITERALLY FALLING APART. DASHBOARD HAS SEVERE CRACKS THROUGHOUT, CUPHOLDER COVER BROKE, REARVIEW MIRROR LIQUID CAUSED VISION PROBLEM, ARM REST BROKE, AND NOW THE FOOT REST BROKE! I TAKE CARE OF MY VEHICLE AS ATTESTED TO BY THE DEALER. UNFORTUNATELY, NOT ONE OF THESE PROBLEMS WAS A SURPRISE TO THE SERVICE TECH!!!! *TR
OUTLINE OF PASSENGER AIRBAG HAS APPEARED AS A CRACK IN THE DASH ON MY 04 ACURA TL. IT HAS 63000 MILES AND WAS BOUGHT AS CERTIFIED. *TR
ACURA TL 2004 CRACKED DEFECTIVE DASH. *TR
2004 ACURA TL DASHBOARD CRACKED IN THREE (3) DIFFERENT AREAS ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND FOUND THAT ACURA HAS IDENTIFIED THIS AS A DEFECTIVE PART, BUT IS NOT WILLING TO REPLACE IT WITHOUT THE OWNER PAYING FOR A GOOD PORTION ($800 TO A $1000). YES, THIS IS A DEFECTIVE PART AND IT HAS OCCURRED ON COUNTLESS 2004 ACURA TL'S, MY NUMBER ONE CONCERN IS THAT THIS A SAFETY HAZARD. I'M CONCERNED WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT NOW THAT THE DASHBOARD IS DEFECTIVE. I NO LONGER LET ANYONE RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT OF MY PERFECTLY GOOD VEHICLE BECAUSE I'M CONCERNED FOR THERE SAFETY. I THINK A LITTLE OPERATIONAL RISK MANAGEMENT NEEDS TO BE APPLIED TO THIS SITUATION AND ACURA SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO FIX THIS DEFECTIVE PART VIA RECALL. I SHOULD NOT IN ANYWAY BE REQUIRED TO PAY ($800 TO $1000) SO I CAN FEEL SAFE TO LET SOMEONE RIDE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AGAIN. ANOTHER CONCERN IS IF AND WHEN REPLACED ARE THESE DASHBOARDS EXACTLY THE SAME? VERY RESPECTFULLY. *TR
AT SIX YEARS AND 60K MILES, THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ON MY 2004 TL HAD TO BE REBUILT AT A COST OF $3,200. THE CAR WAS OUT OF WARRANTY AND ACURA WOULD NOT EXTEND THE WARRANTY. I AM VERY DISAPPOINTED. I EXPECTED GREATER LONGEVITY FROM THIS TRANSMISSION. *TR
DASH ON PASSENGER SIDE OF 2004 ACURA TL CRACKED EXACTLY AS DEPICTED ON MANY SITES AFECTING OWNERS OF SUCH MAKE & MODEL. THIS IS A FAILURE CONSISTENT WITH ITS MFG YEAR AND SHOULD BE REPAIRED UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD THAT SURROUNDS THE AIR BAG WAS CRACKED AND HAS BECOME PROGRESSIVELY WORSE OVER TIME. THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED IMMEDIATELY AFTER THE DASHBOARD DISPLAYED A SMALL CRACK. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD BE FINE, BUT THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED SINCE THE CRACK WAS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 86000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 88000.
2004 ACURA TL - DASH HAS A 2' CRASH ON THE PASSENGER SIDE RUNNING TOP TO BOTTOM AND INTO SRS AIRBAG AREA. CRACK STARTED AT 90, 000 MILES. DEALERSHIP ACKNOWLEDGED PROBLEM BUT SINCE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY WANTS $580.00 TO FIX. THIS CRACK MAY SERIOUSLY AFFECT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT ON PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
