2004 ACURA TL: AIRBAG COVER ON DASH HAS CRACKED OPEN ON BOTH SIDES OF AIRBAG. AFRAID AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY RANDOMLY. THE CRACK STARTED SMALL BUT HAS GROWN TO ALMOST THE SIZE OF THE DASH CAR IS GARAGED AND DASH COVERED IN SUNLIGHT. ACURA DOES NOT SEEM TO WANT TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE DEFECT. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS A CRACK ABOVE THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AND HE COULD SEE THE AIR BAG IMPRINT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT HE WOULD HAVE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT HIS OWN EXPENSE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 103,000. CRACKS IN THE DASHBOARD AREA BY THE AIRBAGS. *TR
ON CASE PE07060 WITH ACURA WIPERS. THE FIX ACURA PROVIDED SIMPLY DOES NOT WORK. MY WIPERS STOPPED WORKING FOR NO APPARENT REASON DURING A STORM (COMMON IN SOUTH FLORIDA). I ALMOST GOT INTO A HUGE ACCIDENT BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE. THANKFULLY I WAS ABLE TO PULL OVER. THE FUSE IS OK. WHEN I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO ACURA THEY TOLD ME THAT THEY WERE AWARE OF THE ONGOING ISSUE BUT SINCE THE RE-CALL WAS DONE THAT I HAD TO PAY FOR THEM TO "LOOK AT IT" AND REALLY FIX THE ISSUE INSTEAD OF THE PATCH THAT WAS DONE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DASHBOARD FAILED AND SPLIT IN HALF NEAR THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG HOUSING. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE DASHBOARD FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY WEAR AND TEAR AND WAS NOT CONSIDERED A SAFETY DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 94,000.
I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER, WITH AN ALWAYS GARAGED, 2004 ACURA TL THAT HAS ADHERED TO A STRICT DISCIPLINE OF MAINTENANCE. BUT, THE DASH HAS ACCUMULATED 'NUMEROUS' CRACKS FROM SIDE TO SIDE, WITH A 'PREVALENT' OUTLINE AROUND THE AIRBAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. EVERY TIME I HIT A BUMP IN THE ROAD, I HAVE NO IDEA WHETHER THE AIRBAG WILL DEPLOY. I'M SURE THERE ARE MANY, MANY DRIVERS LIKE MYSELF WITH THIS CONCERN WITH AN UNCONSCIOUS DISTRACTION ON THIS CORRUPTED DASH WITH AN OUTLINED AIRBAG ALWAYS IN VIEW. ACURA HAS ASSUMED ABSOLUTELY NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS FACTORY DEFECT. I COMPLAINED THROUGH AN OFFICIAL FILING WITH ACURA CLIENT RELATIONS SEVERAL YEARS AGO REGARDING THIS POSSIBLE SAFETY HAZARD, BUT OF COURSE, TO NO AVAIL. AS PREVIOUSLY STATED, I HAVE KEPT UP WITH ALL MY VEHICLE'S MAINTENANCE AS PRESCRIBED, AND HAVE ALWAYS BEEN DILIGENT IN USING A DASH SHIELD. UPON REVIEW, YOU WILL FIND THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF REPORTS AND CONCERNS THROUGHOUT THE INTERNET COMPLAINING ABOUT THE SAME ISSUE INCLUDING FRUSTRATION LEVELS REACHING THREATS OF A CLASS ACTION SUIT. 2004 ACURA TL DASHBOARD HAS 2 LARGE CRACKS THAT APPEARED IN THE LAST 7 DAYS. ONE IS ABOUT 14" LONG AND RUNS FROM THE AREA OF THE GLOVE BOX/AIR BAG ALL THE WAY TOWARDS THE WINDSHIELD. *TR
I LOVE MY TL BUT I AM TOTALLY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DASH ON MY 2004 ACURA TL. I HAVE HAD CARS THAT HAD SIMILAR DASHES AND THEY NEVER CRACKED! THIS DASH HAS ALREADY CRACKED IN 3 PLACES. ONE CRACK RUNS FROM THE WINDSHIELD TO ALMOST THE TOP OF THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THIS ONE MAKES ME UNEASY EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR BECAUSE IT RUNS ALONGSIDE THE PASSENGER AIRBAG. THE OTHER CRACKS ARE SMALLER BUT NEVERTHELESS THEY ARE THERE. I DON'T THINK THIS IS ACCEPTABLE FOR A CAR I PAID SO MUCH FOR. ACURA NEEDS TO STEP UP AND RECALL THESE CHEAP DASHBOARDS. *TR
ACURA TL 2004 - THERE IS A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD ABOVE THE PASSENGER'S AIRBAG WHICH RUNS FROM THE WINDSHIELD ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER AND SERVICE CENTER AND DIDN'T WANT TO REPLACE IT SINCE THERE WAS NO FORMAL RECALL ISSUED BY ACURA AND THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY. I HAVE SAFETY CONCERNS RELATED TO THE PROPER OPERATION OF THE AIRBAG DUE TO THIS SITUATION. *TR
MY DASH IS CRACKING AT A ACCELERATED RATE. FIRST AT THE PASSENGER AIRBAG, NOW OVER DRIVER SIDE. MY CONCERN IS IF THE DASH IS DRY ENOUGH TO SPLIT ALONG THE AIRBAG SEAMS, THEN WHAT WOULD PREVENT SHARDS OF DASH FLYING OFF IF THE AIRBAG DEPLOYS? THE SHOULD GET SOME SERIOUS SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS. *TR

MULTIPLE CRACKS IN 2004 ACURA TL DASHBOARD ABOVE THE PASSENGER AIR BAG - SEEMS LIKE A POSSIBLE SAFETY ISSUE FOR THE DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIR BAG IN AN ACCIDENT AS WELL AS EXTREMELY UPSETTING SEEING AS HOW THE CAR IS ONLY 6 YEARS OLD. CAR IS GARAGE KEPT. *TR
INSTRUCTIONS IN THE ACURA OEM SERVICE MANUAL FOR MY 2004 TL HAS AN ERROR THAT COULD RESULT IN THE FRONT DISC BRAKE PADS BEING INSTALLED INCORRECTLY ON CARS WITH THE MANUAL TRANSMISSION OPTION. THIS COULD CAUSE THE BRAKES TO WORK INCORRECTLY. ADVICE I HAVE BEEN GIVEN BY ACURA CUSTOMER SERVICE IN TORRANCE, CA AND MY LOCAL ACURA DEALER ABOUT THE CORRECT INSTALLATION DIRECTION ARE IN DIRECT OPPOSITION. *TR
I HAD REPLACED THE STEERING HOSE FOR MY 2004 ACURA TL MORE THAN 3 TIMES BECAUSE IT IS DAMAGED AND THE POWER STEERING FLUID WAS LEAKING WHICH SEEM VERY UNUSUAL COMPARE TO OTHER CAR THAT I KNOW. *TR

I WON'T BUY ANOTHER ACURA PRODUCT IF THIS ISN'T FIXED AND WILL TELL EVERYONE I KNOW NOT TO BUY ONE! THIS WAS ZERO FAULT OF MY OWN AND BY THE SOUND OF IT, IT HAPPENS TO A BUNCH OF THEIR DASHES IN THIS PARTICULAR MODEL!! *TR

THE BRAKES ON MY 2004 ACURA TL HAVE CONTINUED TO BE SPONGY AND AIR GETS INTO THE SYSTEM. I HAVE SPENT OVER $1000 TRYING TO FIX THE BRAKES AND THEY KEEP GETTING SPONGY WITHIN A DAY OF BEING BLED. IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE IN 2004 THROUGH 2006 ACURA TL'S AND NO ACTION IS BEING TAKEN. I CALLED ACURA AND THEY SAID THAT THEY HAVE NO CURRENT PLANS FOR A RECALL.
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2004 ACURA TL AND THE DASH BOARD HAS CRACKED ON DRIVERS SIDE, THE CRACKS ARE SHAPED LIKE A T AN ARE APPROXIMATELY 6 INCHES IN LENGTH. ACURE SHOULD REPLACE THIS DEFECTIVE DASH BOARD. *TR
2004 ACURA TL SEVERELY CRACKED DASHBOARD ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. I HAVE 2 VERTICAL CRACKS ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2004 ACURA TL. THE CRACKS WERE NOT GRADUAL THEY BOTH HAPPENED SUDDENLY OVERNIGHT. I HAVE NOT HAD ANY ACCIDENTS OR COLLISIONS THAT MAY HAVE CAUSED THIS DEFECT AND AM REALIZING THAT THE PROBLEM IS QUITE COMMON AMONGST 04 ACURA TL OWNERS. FROM PICTURES ON ONLINE FORUMS THE CRACKS APPEAR TO BE IDENTICAL IN ALL CASES. *TR
ACURA TL 2004 CRACKED DASHBOARD OVER AIR BAG AND MULTIPLE OTHER SPOTS. I AM VERY CONCERNED THIS COULD CAUSE ISSUES WITH THE AIRBAG. I WAS INFORMED BY A DASH BOARD REPAIR MAN THAT HE COULD NOT FIXES THE CRACKS OVER THE AIR BAG. HE STATE IT WOULD NOT BE SAFE FOR HIM OR IF THE AIR BAG DEPLOYED. ACURA SHOULD HAVE TO REPLACE THE DASH BOARD ON THE 04 ACURA TL'S. I HAVE DONE RESEARCH AND THERE ARE A WHOLE LOT OF PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE. THERE IS EVEN A FACEBOOK SITE WHERE PEOPLE WHO HAVE HAD THIS PROBLEM HAVE SIGNED UP. I CALL ACURA ABOUT THIS DEFECT AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THERE PROBLEM OR FAULT. I COULD PAY TO GET IF FIXED FOR OVER $2,000.00. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THERE IS NO PROOF THAT IT COULD CAUSE THE AIR BAG TO DEPLOY. *TR
A FEW MONTHS AGO I NOTICED A SMALL CRACK ON THE DASH OF MY 2004 ACURA. THAT SMALL CRACK HAS PROGRESSED TO A LARGE ONE AND JOINED BY TWO OTHERS. THE CRACKS ARE ON THE PASSENGER SIDE DIRECTLY OVER THE AIRBAG. THIS MAKES ME CONCERNED THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT OPERATE PROPERLY IF NEEDED. IT ALSO MAKES ME WONDER IF THE CRACK WAS NOT CAUSED DUE TO A DEFECT FROM THE AIRBAG. THE VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND IS SHADED WHEN EXPOSED TO THE WEATHER. THERE IS NO OTHER REASON FOR THE CRACK OTHER THAN A DEFECT IN THE PRODUCT (AIRBAG OR DASH). I WOULD HATE TO GET IN AN ACCIDENT ONLY TO FIND OUT THAT THE PROTECTION I PAID FOR DID NOT WORK. *TR

DASHBOARD IS CONTINUALLY TREATED WITH PROTECTIVE LOTIONS, STORED IN A GARAGE AND PARKED IN SHADE. THERE ARE NOW 5 CRACKS IN THE DASH AND I HAVE FOUND MULTIPLE OWNERS THAT HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A LUXURY CAR THAT HAS BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I WOULD CONSIDER THIS TO BE A RECALL ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED THAT THE INSTRUMENT PANEL DEVELOPED CRACKS AROUND THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG AREA. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD NOT DEPLOY IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. IN ADDITION, HE WAS ALSO CONCERNED THAT IF THE AIR BAG WERE TO DEPLOY INDEPENDENTLY, SHARDS OF THE DASHBOARD WOULD POTENTIALLY INJURE HIM OR A PASSENGER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS OR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 102,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 122,000.

I BOUGHT A USED 2004 ACURA TL. THE DASHBOARD CRACK IS OUTLINING THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG. I'M TRUSTING THAT THIS WILL NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANY PASSENGER IF I EVER GET IN AN ACCIDENT. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA 3.2TL. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE AIRBAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHENEVER THE ENGINE WAS IN OPERATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE DASHBOARD EXHIBITED A HAIRLINE CRACK NEAR THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG HOUSING WHICH CAUSED THE AIRBAG SENSOR TO ACTIVATE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.
RECENTLY MY 2004 ACURA TL DASH STARTED CRACKING SPONTANEOUSLY OVER THE DRIVER SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL. I HAVE READ OF OTHER COMPLAINTS OF CRACKS OVER THE PASSENGER AIR BAG AS WELL, DOCUMENTED AT HTTP://TL.ACURAZINE.COM/FORUMS/SHOWTHREAD.PHP?T=730775. I FEEL THAT THIS IS A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD AND IS A DEFECT OF ACURA 2004 TL. ACURA HAS REFUSED TO COVER REPAIR BECAUSE VEHICLE IS OUT OF WARRANTY AND BECAUSE PREVIOUS OWNER LIVED IN FL. *TR

TWO WEEKS AGO, I NOTICE A CRACK ON THE DASHBOARD ABOUT 1 INCH LONG. TODAY THE CRACK IS ABOUT 5 INCHES LONG (1/5/2010). I HAVE EXTENDED WARRANTY FOR THE VEHICLE, BUT THE THEY WOULD NOT COVER IT BECAUSE THEY SAID IT IS A WEAR AND TEAR PART. IT IS TRULY A DEFECT, THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 66,000 MILES AND NOTHING HAPPENED TO THE VEHICLE THAT WOULD CAUSE THE DASH BOARD TO CRACK. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 ACURA TL. WHILE DRIVING IN RAINY WEATHER CONDITIONS THE WINDOW WIPERS BECAME INOPERATIVE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR INSPECTION. THE FAILURE WAS CONTRIBUTED TO AN ELECTRICAL CIRCUIT SHORTAGE IN THE WINDOW WIPER SYSTEM MOTOR. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED ACCORDING TO RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V092000 (VISIBILITY:WINDSHIELD WIPER/WASHER:MOTOR). HOWEVER, THE REMEDY REPAIR DID NOT REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 95,098.
WIRING HARNESS UNDER MOLDING BELOW DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR INSIDE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT DEVELOPED A SHORT, CAUSING PASSENGER COMPARTMENT TO FILL WITH SMOKE. MOLDING MELTED AND SITUATION WAS AVERTED PRIOR TO A FIRE DEVELOPING. *TR
ON THE DASHBOARD THERE IS A CRACK AT THE PLACE WHERE THE AIR BAG IS SUPPOSE TO DEPLOY. THE CRACK WAS NOT CAUSE BY IMPACT NOR BY THE SUM. *TR
BOUGHT THIS CAR IN THE DARK. NEXT MORNING I DISCOVERED THE ENTIRE DASH ON BOTH SIDES IS SPLIT. I DON'T HAVE ANOTHER 10K TO SPEND ON A VEHICLE BUT AM TERRIFIED OF DRIVING IN IT WITH MY CHILDREN AS THE AIRBAG SEEMS TO BE WHERE THE SPREADING STARTED. PLEASE HELP!!!! *TR
THE PROBLEM STARTED WITH ONE SPLIT LINE ON THE LEFT MIDDLE SIDE OF MY DASHBOARD. I THOUGHT NOTHING OF IT, BECAUSE IT LOOKED LIKE PART OF THE UNIT. HOWEVER, AS TIME WENT BY, MORE SPLITS OCCURRED IN SIMILAR AREAS AND IS STILL CONTINUING TO SPREAD ACROSS THE WHOLE DASH . IT HAS GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE AND WHEN I CONTACTED THE DEALER, BECAUSE OF THE EXPIRED WARRANTY, THEY WANT ME TO SHELL OUT OVER $300.00 FOR REPAIRS. I HAVE GONE TO OTHER WEBSITES WHERE CONSUMERS WITH MY CAR HAD SIMILAR ISSUES WITH THEIR DASHBOARD. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A DEFECT IN THE PLASTIC WHICH APPEARS OVER TIME. MY VEHICLE IS GARAGE KEPT AND THE DASH IS COVERED WHEN PARKED IN THE SUN. ALTHOUGH, THIS IS NOT A SERIOUS PRIORITY, ACURA SHOULD READDRESS THE ISSUE IN GOOD FAITH WITH IT'S CUSTOMERS. VEHICLE SPUTTERING/JUDDERS DURING ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS (AROUND 25-35MPH). THIS PROBLEM STARTED SOMETIME AFTER (MAY BE IN 2009) I BOUGHT A PRE-OWNED VEHICLE IN 2007. WHEN I FIRST COMPLAINED IT TO A DEALER IN 2009, THEY SAID IT MIGHT BE DUE TO COLD WEATHER. BUT NOW I MOVED TO A PLACE WHICH IS WARMER ALL YEAR AROUND, BUT STILL THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. RECENTLY TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE TRANSMISSION MIGHT NEED A REPLACEMENT. *TR
ABOUT 18 MONTHS AGO THE HEADLIGHTS ON MY 2004 TL BEGAN FLICKERING ON AND OFF WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TOOK THE CAR TO ACURA BUT THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AND THEY TOLD ME IT WOULD COST $1000 TO DO AN "APPROPRIATE DIAGNOSTIC TEST". THE PROBLEM WITH THE HEADLAMPS STOPPED AFTER A FEW MONTHS, BUT THEN OTHER LIGHTS BEGAN GOING OUT (INTERIOR CENTER CONSOLE WHERE THE AC AND RADIO ARE, AND THE INTERIOR CONSOLE TO THE LEFT OF THE STEERING WHEEL, AND THE INTERIOR DOOR CONSOLE) AND FLICKERING (EXTERIOR SIDE PANEL LIGHTS WHEN I ALARM OR DIS-ALARM THE CAR). I TOOK THE CAR TO ACURA AGAIN IN NOV 2011, AND THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WAS WAS FIXED AFTER THEY REPLACED MY BATTERY, BUT THEY MISTAKENLY ONLY LOOKED AT THE DRIVER'S DASHBOARD LIGHTS WHERE THE SPEEDOMETER/ODOMETER ARE LOCATED (AND WHERE THERE IS NO PROBLEM) AND THE TECHS DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHAT I WAS TALKING ABOUT. THIS LIGHTING PROBLEM IS GETTING UNSAFE, AS I CAN NO LONGER SEE THE BUTTONS FOR THE AC/DEFROST, ETC. AT NIGHT AND I HAVE TO FUMBLE AROUND TO PRESS THE CORRECT BUTTONS. I KNOW I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. THE BATTERY WAS SO DRAINED THAT I HAD TO REPLACE IT, I BELIEVE BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE. *KB
