My vehicle will disengage forward or drive at times (transmission) unknowingly and as you apply the gas it sometimes will engage and go forward or reverse in a high speed. Stopped at a light or stop sign becomes dangerous as you are not in control of your speed. Or you may be moved into traffic and lose forward or reverse power.
THE TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE, A COMPUTERIZED PART THAT COULD JAM THE TRANSMISSION, IS FAILING IN MY CAR, IT'S $3100 TO FIX INCLUDING LABOR AND MATERIAL, BUT I FEEL IT'S A SAFETY VIOLATION, ESPECIALLY CONSIDERING THE CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT COVERING 2002-2006 A-4 AUDIS STEMMING FROM THE SAME DEFECTIVE PART.
AUDI A4 TRANSMISSIONS HAVE A FAULTY TRASMISSION COMPONENT, WHICH CAUSES THEM TO FAIL. REPAIRS ARE COSTLY, AND ARE NOT A GUARANTEED PERMENANT FIX. DRIVING AROUND IN A VEHICLE (KNOWN TO THE MANUFACTURER) WITH A TRANSIMISSION WAITING TO FAIL IS NOT ONLY EXTREMELY UNSAFE - IT'S JUST BAD BUSINESS. PLEASE HELP INSTITUE A RECALL FOR ALL AUDI VEHICHLES WITH FAULTY CVTS. A LAWSUITE SETTLEMENT WAS ANNOUNCED IN 2013, HOWEVER, THIS ONLY COVERS YEAR MODELS FROM 2002-2006. CLEARLY, THE CVT TRANSIMISSION IS STILL IN PRODUCTION IN AUDI A4S TILL THIS DAY. I DRIVE A 2007 AUDI A4 WITH LESS THAN 100K MILES AND IS LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD. MY TRANSIMISSION WENT OUT ON ME WHILE TRYING TO REVERSE OUT OF A DRIVEWAY ON TO A HIGHLY POPULATED CITY STREET, WITH A SLIGHT HILL FROM ONCOMMING TRAFFIC - I COULD OF BEEN SLAMMED INTO FROM THE REAR.

THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED CONSTANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
THE CRANKSHAFT BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT CONSTANT SPEED. THE INCIDENT IMMEDIATELY DISABLED THE CAR WHICH COULD HAVE BEEN A MAJOR HAZARD HAD THIS NOT BEEN A MANUAL TRANSMISSION AS I WAS ABLE TO APPLY THE CLUTCH AND COAST TO A SAFE LOCATION. HAD IT NOT BEEN AN AUTOMATIC THE CAR WOULD HAVE QUICKLY COMING TO A STOP IN MODERATE TRAFFIC CREATING A SIGNIFICANT HAZARD. PREVIOUS MODEL YEARS OF THIS CAR HAVE HAD A SIMILAR ISSUE, BUT THIS YEAR WAS NOT INCLUDED THIS IS A MANUAL CAR, THAT STILL HAS IT'S ORIGINAL CLUTCH AND THE CAR HAS MET ALL MANUFACTURERS MAINTENANCE. ALL MAINTENANCE ON THE CAR HAS BEEN PERFORMED BY AN DEALER. CLEARLY THIS IS A MANUFACTURING OR ENGINEERING DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE ADDRESSED BY AUDI.
ON 6/10/2014, I DROVE MY 2007 AUDI A4 A FEW MILES TO A LOCAL BUSINESS AND PARKED. ON ATTEMPTING TO RESTART THE CAR I FOUND THAT THE IGNITION KEY SPUN IN THE IGNITION CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY TWO MINUTES OF SPINNING AND LIGHT PUSHING FOR KEY THE MECHANISM TO REENGAGED, AND THE CAR TO RESTART. DURING THE TIME THE KEY WAS SPINNING IT WAS FULLY ENGAGED WITH THE LOCK, BUT SPUN IN-PLACE WITH THE ENGINE NOT STARTING. TOOK CAR TO CERTIFIED AUDI DEALER ON 6/16 FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE RECOMMENDATION TO REPLACE THE IGNITION CYLINDER ASSEMBLY. CONTACTED AUDI OF AMERICA ON 6/30 REGARDING SAFETY INCIDENT. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 AUDI A4. WHILE DRIVING AT 50 MPH AND PRESSING ON THE CLUTCH, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT SHIFT GEARS. THE CONTACT CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO DRIVER ERROR OR WEAR AND TEAR. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO OFFERED 25% OFF THE REPAIR COSTS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 34,500.
WE'VE EXPERIENCED SEVERAL INCIDENTS OF THE ENGINE SEMI-STALLING. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT VARYING SPEEDS. WHILE DRIVING, THE ENGINE HESITATES AS IF SOMEONE HAS SUDDENLY STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THIS OCCURRED WHILE THE CAR WAS ENGAGED IN CRUISE CONTRAL AND NORMAL DRIVING.
