Since I purchase my vehicle I have had to continuously replace my tires on the front. Going through my carfax acct I came across some recalls that showed up that I had no idea of the car may had which was prior to purchase from the dealers. I would think that these issues were fixed prior to reselling. I recently had to pull over on the freeway due to the tire making noises then realized that the tire wear was uneven again but this time shredded apart. I could feel metal poking out which the tires hadn’t been on for long. The loss pressure warning light went off. I later found the missing tire that has came off wrapped around the rotor which the tire shop near me hadn’t seen while replacing with new tires again. The wear on the brake pads were off as well as the rotors which I also ended up having to replace just recently. I’ve made an appointment with a dealer which is out of my way to hopefully have this resolved but needed to make a report of this safety issue.
A metal bracket on the back left side of the driver seat snapped suddenly while driving straight and at a constant speed. Since this part is broken the seat is no longer connected to the track in that corner. The car is drivable for me because I am tall and sit with the seat at its lowest height setting. When turning or breaking quickly the seat moves, and it would obviously be a safety issue if I get into an accident. If the seat is adjusted higher it is not supported in that corner and it leans back. Yesterday I dropped it off at the dealer service center and they said it is the seat frame. I have not heard back from them yet. I am the first owner of this car, and it has not been in any serious accidents (I hit a deer once roughly 2 years ago). I am not unusually heavy.
Audi MMI system randomly goes dark and reboots during driving - this turns off the rear camera and any GPS system being used to navigate along with the sound system, etc.
Many times while driving the Audi MMI system which controls all radio/navigation/controls screen will completely shut off and reboot, leaving the screen blank and functionality gone. When researching online many others have reported the same issue, with Audi unable to provide a definitive cause or a fix for the issue. This is a safety issue as it could cause distraction while driving
My 2020 Audi A4 infotainment MMI keeps rebooting and takes over a minute or so to load back. This has been happening recently and i have rebooted the system and followed the Audi/reddit forums to seek any help but no resolution. It seems most of the 2020 Audis are facing similar issues. This issue is concerning and needs immediate attention since I have had instances where i lost backup camera while backing. Losing Navigation Capabilities or backup camera feature while backing up or driving has jeopardized me couple of times since i had to fumble and hit brakes as i was almost handicap momentarily. Audi is aware of this issue and have had issued TSB in 2020 which is attached here, but no recall was ever conducted which they should as this now an industry wide problem. Also, i got to know that S they have issued a 2021 MMI recall affecting over 44k Cars but not 2020, which is very surprising. Based on forums and other users it seems the Firmware version 3243 need an overhaul or even MMI module replacement if firmware update doesn't fix the issue. Request the authority to investigate this known issue for 2020 car line with similar intensity as this a widespread safety hazard. MMIs usually incorporate other modules as well so there is risk for ADAS failures or parking aids. Below is link to some on-going issues Audi 2020 users are facing [XXX] [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
MMI module keeps resetting. This causes sudden lost of navigation display and sudden lost of backup camera when reset happens while backing up. Release version: MHI3_US_AUG45S_P3243 Software version: 3243
MMI screen keep turning on and off every minute. This MMI is a brain of audi which controls cameras, sensor for brake and collision, parking assistance, etc. This MMI malfunction has been a big issue and none of the dealer had a permanent solution for the fault. As this MMI function begin to get worse, it could shut off the remaining functions as odometer, speed meter.
Multimedia Infotainment system spontaneously reboots causing loss of cameras andcollision avoidance features and requires the driver to re-enter log-in information such as PIN #'s. This is a known software fault that should likely be elevated to recall status.
The MMI (display/menu) continuously reboots every few minutes, which disrupts GPS navigation and back-up camera. This causes distraction and poses a safety risk while driving. This is a common problem among similar Audi software users but has not been addressed by the dealership. No other warnings appear, it will prompt me to re-log in after each reboot.
The MMI system still reboots every 1-2 minutes while driving. When I am backing up, the camera screen and sensors stop working because the MMI reboots and shuts the screen off.
The multi media screen is turning on and off repeatedly and will not stay on for more than about 2 minutes. Blacks out reverse camera as well hindering the safety of reversing. Makes the reverse un usable most times
Vehicles MMI constantly cycling through reboot - inordinate amount of previous complaints about this exact issue - Dealer advised a min $1040 ($370 to diagnose + $670 new MMI) to diagnose and change MMI console with NO guarantee it will work and that's because: the dealer has not updated MIB2 (aka the MMI) using the instructions on a different bulletin, titled "TSB 2067021 - 91 MIB3: Garage opener/SXM/Online Radio or other malfunctions B129B11, B129C22, B123B13, B123C13, U044700 or B200000" (latest version is from July 27, 2024, they've had 6 revisions), before applying the most recent update. So it looks like, at a minimum, I'm two updates behind (encompassing of course, a ton of intermediate versions). So right there, the dealerships have been failing by not even taking the time to read Audi's own TSBs. The dealership said: they have seen this before and they have seen many leave without resolve May I please be placed on the list of VINs that when all complaints are proven to be true and a recall is issued, I can partake in the MMI update? It truly is dangerous as the entire console shuts down, meaning cameras and system are not available for viewing protection (the minimum safety precautions expected with cameras, etc) Audi needs to recognize this is a widespread issue. It appears that they are picky with who they provide updates to and who they ignore as some owners received an update and while their MMI doesn't function 100%, it doesn't cycle through reboot every 60 seconds.
MMI Constant Rebooting - Follow up My 2020 Audi A4 Quattro's MMI system constantly reboots (~60 seconds), causing the screen to go black/blank. Component Failed: MIB3 infotainment software. This persistent issue leads to reboots and loss of digital display. System available for inspection. Safety Risk: Significant, recurring hazard. Critical safety features are inoperative for ~1 min during reboots, including: Rearview camera (backing/parking safety) Navigation Communication No manual bypass exists; driver loses vital visual information Problem Confirmation: Consistently reproducible. Dealer proposed costly hardware replacement with no guarantee, contradicting manufacturer guidelines for known software issues. Symptoms: continuous black screen, Audi splash, then re-initialization. Problem worsened over weeks. Manufacturer's Knowledge: Extensive owner research (AudiWorld, Reddit) confirms this as a widespread, documented MIB3 software defect for 2020 Audi A4/A5 models. Audi's own Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) address this: TSB 2069112 (MIB3 improvements) TSB 2067021 (MIB3 malfunctions) These TSBs outline a specific, sequential software update process (e.g., older versions need TSB 2067021 first for TSB 2069112). Other owners successfully resolved rebooting with these updates. This malfunction is analogous to other Audi MIB3 software instabilities, as evidenced by NHTSA Recall Number 22V742 (Audi Campaign Code 91DZ). This recall for 2021-2022 Audi models addresses similar digital display/infotainment failures (e.g., rearview camera loss) via a no-cost software update. This demonstrates Audi's awareness of systemic MIB3 software issues impairing safety. I urge NHTSA to investigate this widespread 2020 Audi A4 issue and compel Audi to issue a recall for a no-cost software update (per TSBs) to all affected owners. More detailed documentation, including dealer records and owner videos, is available upon request as there is limited space to detail here.
MMI system shutting down randomly every 2 mins cameras and other safety features doesn’t work
I’ve had the Audi MMI computer replacement car twice and electrical replaced once and the Audi MMI screen keeps turning on and off when it turns off the charging to my phone shuts off and the backup camera shuts off.
MMI system is restarting on a near constant basis, both while parked and driving. Aside from being inconvenient, as you can not use media/navigation/etc while it’s rebooting, it also causes many safety features like drive assist/collision/obstacle detection to malfunction and not work, and is therefore simply outright dangerous.
The MMI unit does a reboot every few mins. Even when driving and when reversing the car which prevents the back up camera to show up
MMI/infotainment system randomly shuts down every 30 seconds or even less. The entire screen goes black, it even happened when i was backing up the car while looking through the backup camera, which was extremely dangerous. I have tried all kinds of methods to fix but it doesn’t seem to be working, and it getting worse as we speak with more frequent shutdowns
Audi A4 2020 B9 model MMI "info-system" constantly restarts itself during the drive, regardless of it being connected via Apple CarPlay, Bluetooth, or radio. MMI constantly restarts without reason, usually within 1 to 3 minutes. When MMI restarts, the rebooting process takes about another 1 to 3 minutes and prevents access to features such as the back-up camera and prevents safe reversal of the vehicle. Furthermore, the constant rebooting of the MMI interferes with the use of the GPS and audio speaker within the car. Which causes an unnecessary distraction when driving. The problem has been reproduced by self and confirmed by others experiencing the same issue within Audi's support forum. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives, or others due to an unnecessarily high charge required in order to inspect the vehicle. No warning lamps or messages have been initiated prior to the failure or when the failure of the MMI first occurred.
Audi MMI (screen) keep rebooting. I can't use my backup camera. This issue also block the back collision sensor
The audi MMI keep rebooting for every 1 minute while driving.
Audi MMI system is failing repeatedly while driving, turning off all screens and requesting login info during driving to reestablish the the MMI user screens. This is a known issue in 2020 Audi A4 models in the US. Maps, speed, engine info all disappear while driving repeatedly every 2-3 minutes. Dealer replaced SOS module in the past to remedy related issues, but some months later this is still happening. A technical service bulletin has been issued (TSB 2067021/6 software update) but is not covered by the warranty to my understanding. I believe this is related to the MyAudi system that multiple users per account/vehicle. There is a disconnect with this cloud service and the vehicle itself, an this is driving the error. This issue makes the entire MMI interface unusable while driving, and ultimately unsafe during use.
I had experienced this problem prior of the center screen/Mimi restarting but typically it used to not be very often maybe once every few weeks. But for the past week it has been happening every 30 seconds to a min. This has caused my backup camera to restart as I am backing up causing me to almost get in an accident. As well as that as I am driving I am constantly having to focus on fixing the MMI and shutting off the volume as whenever it turns back on it plays radio static. I am very disappointed in the way Audi has handled this as I am still below 50,000 miles and they refuse to help. This problem is very frustrating as they don’t even have a 100% fix. Their first option was $598 update which I believe is very unfair considering this only happens to select cars and it’s not like this is an extra feature you’re paying for. The second option they gave was a $5,000 module replacement which is just unbelievable considering this has nothing to do with user fault but rather poor manufacturing. This whole situation is outrageous as I see many other individuals with the same problems and no solutions.
The MMI system crashes and reboots after about 90 seconds. This affects all parking and collision sensors.
Audi MMI (Muti Media Interface) constantly resets while driving the vehicle. The problem began about 4 months ago. The MMI would reboot very infrequently- about once every couple weeks. However, I took the vehicle in for a routine oil change yesterday and when I received the vehicle back, it now constantly resets as soon as it reboots. If I attempt to click a button (like accepting my user profile) the screen immediately goes black. I believe this poses an extreme safety hazard given it can shut off while in reverse when the back up camera is engaged. It is also very distracting constantly seeing the MMI reboot and shut down as every time it reboots it asks for credentials/PINs/Users etc. Lastly, it's very dangerous because if I'm on a call it tries to constantly kick it over to the Bluetooth (but it doesn't work) so I have to manually put the phone back into speaker mode which is extremely distracting.
MMI continously shuts off then back on automatically for the duration of my drives. since it is random, it has occured while on the highway where my collision warning does not intervene because the MMI is off. it puts me and others at risk since without warning it shuts off and takes 20-30sec to come back on but only for a few mins until it happens again. I have called the Audi experience who told me to go to the dealer; others i know with the same system have done so to no resolve. I do not want to spend $ on an update that will not resolve the problem. this started on 7/14/25 and without warning, the MMI screen turns off. my fear is that it coincidentally happens at a time when it may be needed and cause a wreck or worse fatal
MMI repeatedly reboots during operation creating visual distraction. MMI system unavailable for monitoring/setting tire pressure and when rebooting makes reverse camera inaccessible. Also eliminates ability for phone to be paired to car for incoming calls or messages and eliminates ability for handsfree text, voice to text, and phone calls.
The MMI (system that displays the rear safety camera, navigation, radio, etc.) reboots frequently during operation. When it reboots while in reverse, the rear camera display disappears.
Continuously reboot of MMI system which impacts use and utility of main screen inclusive of backup camera, parking, collision warning, etc..
Audi MMI (Multi Media Interface) system randomly reboots while driving, losing navigation (either onboard or via Apple CarPlay). This is dangerous. Dealer says they cannot read an error code, but if you do a simple google search, you can see it's a widespread problem.
Audi MMI display constantly shuts off and turns back on with a message about this user not being used despite using it everyday. This happens all the time and has been on going for months. It is dangerous when I’m relying on it for navigation. I have not had this issue looked at at an Audi dealership but have read this issue seems to be widespread with 2020 models. The issue is ongoing and only seems to be getting worse.
The infotainment system will randomly reboot while the vehicle is on and being driven. The system will shut off, initialize, and reload. If using CarPlay, the system will shut it down and require you to manually reconnect your phone and enable CarPlay for it to load on the display. This system will reboot randomly about 4-5 times within a 30 minute/30 mile drive. To reconnect your phone you have to click on the display because the vehicle does not have a command knob that can be used without having to reach the display.
while driving, including backing up with the camera, the computer restarts itself. Navigation, warnings, and backup camera all restart for about 30 seconds. it has happened while depending on the backup camera. just goes black then restarts.
Audi MMI (computer that controls radio, backup cameras and sensors) is rebooting constantly without warning. When this occurs and the driver is in reverse, the camera shuts down, as do the backup related safety systems, collision warning, rear cross traffic etc.
I have started experiencing issues with the MMI (infotainment system) system rebooting every few minutes. It was very sporadic at first, but now it is at the point where I frequently don't have time to get into the system before it starts the reboot cycle again. When this happens, the screen will go blank for several seconds. Then a message will show for several seconds saying that the system is loading. The system will then try to guide me through several prompts to try to log back into the car's MMI system. Even if I choose "Guest User" I am shown multiple prompts before I get into the system and can use the functions located in the MMI. This can and does happen while driving, while parked, and while backing up. This reboot sequence makes all of the safety features, including collision avoidance and the backup camera inaccessible during this time. Sometimes, the system reboots before I have time to even back out of my driveway. Frequently, I don't have time to sign in or work through the prompts to get to the working system before it starts rebooting again. This issue started in February, 2025, but it was infrequent then. Over the past month, the issue has been persistent with the system rebooting every 5 minutes or less. This is very distracting while trying to drive and takes the driver's attention away from driving. As stated before, it also makes the safety features of the vehicle inaccessible - such as collision avoidance and backup camera.
The entertainment system goes black every 5-10 minutes while driving
The infotainment system reboots at random times. This is a security risk since it often reboots while the backup camera is active. This effectively takes the backup camera offline. This can also distract the driver since the screen blacks out then reboots promoting for two confirmation screens that you normally go through when in park.
The MMI system continuously reboots - even while trying to back up using the backup camera making it dangerous. It can reboot 5 times in a 3 mile trip.
The MMI randomly shuts down repeatedly while driving. It will shut down and reset while driving every 5 minutes or so regardless of what is connected to the system. It happens when my phone is connected via bluetooth, via android auto, or if no phone at all is connected to the system. Its very very frustrating.
MMI keeps turning off, at this point it's every few minutes. Message states "The selected user has not been in the vehicle for an extended period ... ", something like that. But if you close out the message my info is still available to log into. I've tried a soft reboot by holding down the volume button, I've tried a factory reset and nothing works. It's getting dangerous because now it shuts off sometimes when I'm going in reverse and the camera is then unavailable. It shuts off when I'm utilizing it for directions via Android Auto. It's annoying and it's ridiculous that I have a luxury vehicle with this kind of issue. It's been going on for over 6 months now and only appears to be getting worse.
The monitor in my vehicle will randomly stop working. This could affect the backup camera or other vehicle systems. It also causes a problem with setting the user, and this controls my settings in the vehicle.
The MMI will spontaneously stop working in the middle of driving. The screen goes blank and then after a few seconds starts a reboot. This requires me to engage the touch screen manually. This will happen multiple times during a 20-30 minute drive. I first started noticing the problem a few months ago sporadically , but it is now happening consistently every time I drive. It is potentially a safety issue, as it is very distracting, shuts off navigation and obstacle detection systems. I have found that this is a common problem many people who have similar year and models of Audis are experiencing. I have not yet contacted the dealership, but it seems from reports it may be a software problem.
The 2020 Audi A4 models seem to be experiencing in an outs through the MMI system. They car will reboot multiple times during a drive. I began receiving this around June 23, 2025. They claim it is a software issue however many have not come to a conclusion or fix. This is impairing driving because i am not able to utilize hands free driving which now is a law within many states. Please look into this issue and push the fix amongst all of us drivers on the road.
The SOS Emergency Call system error warning appears every time I start the car. This system no longer functions in the car. An independent mechanic ran the diagnostic and said it could not be cleared. If I were to be in an accident, I would not be able to use this essential safety feature. Additionally, the MMI system that is used for making hands-free calls, mapping directions, and reading texts aloud randomly shuts off every 3-5 minutes. It says it is initializing, and you must hit three buttons to have it come back on. If I'm using maps or making a call, and this system shuts down, it becomes a distraction while driving. The dealership said it is a problem with this component overheating and restarting.
My electronic infotainment system keep rebuilding and is affecting my rear camera when backing up I find it unsafe
My car randomly checks for remote access during drive. This occurs also during reversing the car preventing for seeing the rear view camera. this is causing dangerous situations.
MMI unit (HDU for Audi/radio/backup camera) keeps resetting. Lose picture when backing up. Definitely a safety hazard
over the last 2 weeks, the entire MMI system stops working, the screen goes black, and the system reboots. It happened once when i was backing out of a parking spot and the alerts stopped working. a second time when i was pulling into a spot and the screen went black as well. this is a MAJOR safety-related flaw!
The MMI or infotainment center turns off and reboots/kicks user out while the car is in motion and also while stopped. The MMI going off has cut out while backing up not allowing the rear camera to be used and has also not allowed the front and rear sensors to be used for parking/auto breaking. There seems to be a large portion of similar complaints and unknown fixes for 2020 models either exactly the same or similar. Personally have not had it inspected or attempted to fix outside the recommended soft reset, user account reset, and even unplugging battery to reset as well. No fix has been identified or has proven to not cause the issue from recurring. This has occurred more frequently in past week or so ~15Jun where it rebooted once in an two drive, 16Jun no reboots for 1.5 hour min drive, 17Jun one reboot for 1.5 hour drive, and 19Jun where it rebooted 7 times in 2 hour drive. There is no warning and seems to be random or when on full screen maps through Android Auto.
Audi MMI (display console/dashboard cluster) randomly turns off and reboots while driving.
