When this steering problem is occurring no communication between the steering and driver and accident happened and its very dangerous!!! DTC 00456 (Access/start control module -J518- no communication) is found in several control modules or the access/start authorization control module, J518 (address word 05), identifies itself with implausible data can be found through guided fault finding (GFF). AUDI OF AMERICA SENT ME A FLYER (ATTACHED) OFFERING $100 IN AUDI GOODS AND SERVICES AS AN INCENTIVE TO COMPLETE THE REPLACEMENT OF A TAKATA AIRBAG RECALL. SINCE MAY 2ND, NOW ALMOST 5 MONTHS LATER, AUDI HAS STILL FAILED TO PROVIDE THE OFFERED INCENTIVE DESPITE ME CONTACTING THEM AND THEIR PROMISE IT WOULD BE RESOLVED. AS THIS RECALL IS UNDER NHTSA JURISDICTION I THOUGHT YOU WOULD HAVE INTEREST IN THEIR BEHAVIOR IN REGARDS TO THIS SERIOUS MATTER.
VEHICLE WOULDN'T START AFTER PARKING AT A STORE PARKING LOT. STEERING COLUMN WAS LOCKED NO POWER TO ANYTHING ONLY MMI HAD POWER TRANSMISSION WAS LOCKED ON PARKING POSITION AND ELECTRONIC BRAKE SISTEM WAS ACTIVATED LOOKING UP ONLINE I FOUND THAT THERE'S TO MANY CUSTOMERS WITH SAME PROBLEM THEY ALL STATED THAT THE PROBLEM WAS THE START CONTROL MODULE.
TAKATA RECALL I HAVE CONTACTED AUDI TWICE, THEY HAVE TOLD ME THEY HAD TO ORDER THE PART AND ONCE THEY RECEIVE THE PART THEY WOULD CALL ME TO SET AN APPOINTMENT TO REPAIR THE AIRBAG. I HAVE BEEN WAITING ABOUT 6 MONTHS (MAYBE LONGER). I HAVE NOT HEARD BACK FROM THEM. AFTER WAITING A FEW MONTHS I DECIDED TO ALSO FILL OUT THE FORM ON THE AUDI WEBSITE REGARDING THE TAKATA RECALL ON MAY 15, 2018 AND STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE.

I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HAVE THE AIRBAG RECALL REPAIRS DONE MANY TIMES OVER THE LAST YEAR,ONLY TOLD THAT THEY ARE WAITING FOR PARTS AT AUDI OF ROCHESTER NY. I AM CONCERNED THE I HAVE HEAR NOTHING FROM THEM. I HAVE NOT HAD THE PASSENGER AIRBAG GO OFF NOR DO I WANT TO TAKE THE CHANCE THAT IT WILL.

NOV 17 2017 ON MY WAY TO WORK , I GOT A FLAT TIRED SO I HAD TO PULL OVER .. RIGHT AT THE INTERSECTION OF ON CLAIREMONT GOING NORTH ON THE 805. THE
TAKATA RECALL-THERE IS NO SOLUTION FOR A FIX FROM AUDI. THEY SAY THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS AND DO NOT KNOW WHEN THEY WILL GET THEM.
TAKATA RECALL: WHY DO I HAVE A LETTER FROM AUDI AND A NOTICE FROM TK HOLDINGS INC. STATING MY VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO A RECALL, YET WHEN I REGISTER THE CAR IT COMES UP AS NOT IN THE DATABASE. I TESTED YOUR DATABASE AS WELL AND IT DOES NOT COME UP. ON PAPER THE CAR IS SUBJECT TO THE RECALL BUT NOT ONLINE. THANKS

TAKATA RECALL , I RECEIVED A LETTER FOR REPAIR FOR MY CAR IN EARLY 2016, BUT THE DEALER KEEPS SAYING TAKATA HAS NOT SENT THE PART TO THEM, JACK INGRAM MOTORS MONTGOMERY, AL AND IM AFRAID MY CAR IS NOT SAFE.
KEY NOT WORKING. CAN'T START CAR AT ALL OR PUT IN NEUTRAL. KEY IS NOT RECOGNIZED BY CAR. SOME PROBLEM WITH THE CONTROLLER IN A STEERING COLUMN. DEALER WANTS $2000+ TO REPLACE AND FIX. MANY PEOPLE ONLINE HAVE REPORTED THE SAME PROBLEM. AUDI SHOULD PAY AND NOT THE CONSUMER.
CAN'T USE THE PASSENGER SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS NOT A VALID SOLUTION. WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR, 6 YEARS AGO, IT INDICATED FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER AIRBAGS THAT FUNCTIONED. FIND A SOLUTION WITH AUDI FOR THIS PROBLEM. YOU CAN'T EVEN SELL THE CAR.

"TAKATA RECALL I HAVE BEEN GETTING THE ROUND AROUND ON REPLACEMENT OF THE INFLATOR FOR THE PAST YEAR. ONE EXCUSE AFTER ANOTHER.
TAKATA RECALL. CAR WAS DOMICILED IN NY FROM 2005-2007, FLORIDA 2007-2012 AND CALIFORNIA 2012-PRESENT. ISSUE IS THE AIRBAG RECALL ON THIS CAR NEEDS TO BE PRIORITIZED FASTER BASED ON THE 5 YEARS IN HOT HUMID FLORIDA AND 2 YEARS IN NY VS CA. SINCE I NOW LIVE IN CA THE AUDI RUSNAK THOUSAND OAKS ADVISED IT HAS A LOWER PRIORITY THEN FLORIDA. REQUEST THE TAKATA AIRBAG REPLACEMENT PARTS BE SHIPPED SOONER FOR MY CAR TO COMPLETE REPAIRS BASED ON THE YEARS IN FLORIDA.

TRANSPONDER IN STEERING COLUMN FAILED DISABLING THE IGNITION AND LOCKS STEERING WHEEL. MY CAR WAS STATIONARY EACH TIME THIS HAPPENED. MY FEAR IS THAT THIS COULD POSSIBLY HAPPEN ON THE HIGHWAY .
TAKATA RECALL DEALER REFUSED REPAIR AS FIX NOT AVAILABLE. DID NOT PROVIDE TIME ESTIMATES AND REFUSED LOANER CAR. AUDI USA CONTACTED WITH THE SAME OUTCOME. WAS TOLD TO AVOID USING PASSENGER SEAT.
TAKATA RECALL I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN JULY OF 2016, WHICH INCLUDED THE ADVICE TO NOT USE THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT. AS OF JANUARY 23, 2017, THE REPAIR IS NOT YET AVAILABLE.
TAKATA RECALL AUDI STATES "RECOMMENDS AVOIDING THE USE OF THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAR WHENEVER POSSIBLE UNTIL THE RECALL REPAIR HAS BEEN PERFORMED.". ARE THEY GOING TO PROVIDER A LOANER VEHICLE UNTIL THIS REPAIR IS PERFORMED? THIS VEHICLE IS USED BY MY FAMILY DAILY AND SOMEONE IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT CANNOT BE AVOIDED. THIS IS ABSURD AND A VEHICLE SHOULD BE PROVIDED.
I RECEIVED A LETTER FROM TAKATA STARTING THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE AIRBAG POSSIBLE DEPLOYING/NOT DEPLOYING AND THEIR WAS NOT A FIX AT THIS TIME. IT ALSO STARTED NOT TO HAVE ANYONE RIDE IN FRONT PASSENGER SET. I CONTACTED THE PROVIDED NUMBER AND LET THEM KNOW THAT I HAVE FOUR KIDS AND THIS WAS MY ONLY CAR AND I FELT UNSAFE DRIVING THE CAR. THEREFORE I ASKED THEM TO PROVIDE ME WITH ANOTHER SAFE FIXED CAR OR I CAN RENT ONE UNTIL THEY ACKWARE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS TO FIX MY VEHICLE AND THEY PAY FOR IT. I WAS ASTONISHED THAT THEY TOLD ME THAT IF I ELECT TO GET A RENTAL OR DIDN'T DRIVE MY CAR DUE TO THE ISSUE THAT IT WOULD BE MY DESISION AND THEY ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES OCCURRED. ALSO STARTED THAT IF I ELECTED TO DRIVE THE CAR WITH MY KIDS IT IS MY DESISION. WHEN I NOTED THIS WAS MY ONLY VEHICLE AND MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION THEY ACTED AS OH WELL. THEREFORE I NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I AM FEARFUL FOR MY KIDS SAFETY AND WELLBEING IN MY CAR. AGAIN ONLY MEANS OF TRANSPORTATION.

THE RECALL NOTICE FOR THIS DEFECT WAS ISSUED IN JULY 2016. THERE IS STILL NO REMEDY AND THE DEFECT HAS BEEN DESCRIBED TO PUT ANYONE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AT RISK OF INJURY FROM METAL SHARDS IF THE AIRBAG WERE TO DEPLOY. THE EXCESSIVE DELAY IN PROVIDING A FIX IS UNSATISFACTORY AND SHOULD BE UNACCEPTABLE.

I REACHED OUT TO AUDI WHEN I RECEIVED AN EMAIL STATING RECALLS FOR MY CAR. I SPOKE TO 2 AUDI REPS AT THERE CALL CENTER WHOM BOTH STATED TO ME THAT I WAS WRONG ABOUT THE EMAIL I RECEIVED AND TO CHECK THIS SITE. ONCE I HAVE IT SHOWED AND STATED THE SAME RECALL THAT I RECEIVED AN EMAIL ABOUT. BUT ONCE I STATED THAT THE DEALER MAY NOT BE AWARE OF THE SCHEDULING OF THIS BUT BOTH REPS STATE THAT THE SITE BACKED BY AUTO TRADER AND KBB WAS INCORRECT. IT BOTHERS ME TO SEE THAT THIS COMPANY IS NOT AWARE OF THERE OWN DEFECTS WHICH MAKES ME WONDER WHAT ELSE IS EXTREMELY WRONG WITH THE CAR--------- ALSO AFTER SEEING THE RECALL MY PASSENGER LIGHT FOR THE AIRBAGS STARTED TO FLICKER WHEN NO ONE WAS IN THE CAR, WHICH LEAD TO SOME OTHER ELECTRICAL PROBLEM WITH MY CAR. TAKATA RECALL. I WAS NOTIFIED PROBABLY 9-10 MONTHS AGO THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE DRIVERS SIDE AIRBAG OF MY CAR AND THAT I SHOULD NOT ALLOW ANY PASSENGERS TO RIDE IN THE FRONT SEAT. THIS IS EXTREMELY INCONVENIENT. I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND ANY DEALERS THAT HAVE THE REPLACEMENT PARTS AVAILABLE. THIS PERIOD OF TIME SEEMS PRETTY CRAZY TO ME AS THE NOTICE SAID THAT IF IT DEPLOYS IT COULD CAUSE SEVERE INJURY OR DEATH.
MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A POSTCARD TELLING ME THAT MY AUDI WAS ON THE RECALL LIST FOR THE TAKATA RECALL BUT THAT NO REPLACEMENTS PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. EVER SINCE THEN, I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE MY CAR'S FRONT SEAT AND I LIVE IN FEAR THAT THE BAG COULD GO OFF. WHY DO I HAVE TO RISK MY LIFE, AND MY SON'S LIFE, WITH NO END IN SIGHT? I AM NOT WEALTHY. I HAVE TO CONTINUE TO USE THIS CAR. WHY IS THERE NO RESOLUTION? WILL THERE EVER BE ANY, SHORT OF A WORST CASE SCENARIO?

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.

TAKATA RECALL RECEIVED A POST CARD IN THE MAIL BACK ON 5/27/2016 ABOUT MY AIR BAG ON THE PASSENGER SIDE BEING DEFECTIVE AND THAT THERE IS NO FIX. MY LIGHT POPPED ON WAY BEFORE I RECEIVED THE POST CARD AND THE ONLY THING THEY CAN SAY IS TRY NOT TO HAVE ANYONE RIDING IN THE FRONT SEAT, THAT IS NOT RIGHT, THIS IS THE FAMILY VEHICLE FOR GOING TO WORK AND TAKING MY TEENAGE SON AND DAUGHTER AROUND TO SCHOOL, ACTIVITIES AND DOCTORS APPOINTMENTS. HOW MUCH LONGER WILL WE HAVE TO WAIT FOR A FIX, THIS IS A DANGEROUS SITUATION EVERYDAY DRIVING AROUND AND I LIVE IN WISCONSIN. *TR
START ACCESS CONTROL UNIT (J518) MALFUNCTION. CAR WILL NOT START. AUDI DEALER CLAIMS THAT WHOLE STEERING COLUMN MUST BE REPLACED. QUOTE $2,400.
VERY COMMON PROBLEM - "IGNITION MODULE DEFECTIVE" CODE AT 190,000 MILES. TEMPORARY REPAIR OF THE ISSUE WITH DTC RESET. FULL LOGGING OF CAR DATA VIA OBD-II PORT REVEALS ZERO FAULTS WHILE CAR IS RUNNING, AND DIAGNOSTIC TRAFFIC ON THE CAN BUS AT STARTUP SHOW ZERO FAULTS. ONCE KEY IS INSERTED IN DASH AND TURNED TO "ACCESSORY", MODULE FAULTS OUT WITHOUT ANY TRAFFIC SENT/RECEIVED. HAPPENS INTERMITTENTLY AND DEALERSHIP STATES THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM. DEALERSHIP-ONLY REPAIR, PER MULTIPLE AUDI SERVICE TECHNICIANS, AUDI OF AMERICA REFUSES TO COMPLY WITH MASSACHUSETTS RIGHT TO REPAIR LAW BY MAKING AVAILABLE TO INDEPENDENT REPAIR SHOPS, THE NECESSARY TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT TO ACCESS THE IMMOBILIZER HARDWARE. DEALER ESTIMATES/QUOTES RANGE FROM $2100-$3700 TO REPLACE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WITH THE ATTACHED AND SEPARABLE IGNITION MODULE (ACCESSIBLE VIA 2 SCREWS AND 1 RIVET). DEALERSHIPS REFUSE TO REPLACE/RE-CODE ONLY THE IGNITION MODULE, STATING THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN NEEDS REPLACED. MULTIPLE REPORTS OF THE SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER C6 BODY AUDI A6 OWNERS CONFIRM THE SAME DETAILS. NOTHING IS PHYSICALLY WRONG WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH OR MODULE, AND CLEARING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES ALLOW THE VEHICLE TO START IMMEDIATELY. SUSPECT PLANNED OBSOLESCENCE OF THE PART IN QUESTION.
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2005 AUDI A6 WHICH HAS A FAILURE OF THE REAR TAIL LIGHTS. BOTH THE DRIVER'S AND PASSENGER'S SIDE REAR TAIL LIGHTS FAIL TO ILLUMINATE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON. THERE IS NO BRAKE LIGHT, TURN LIGHT INDICATOR, OR HAZARD LIGHTS THAT IS OPERABLE. AT FIRST IT WAS THOUGHT THAT THE BULBS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, WHILE REPLACING THE BULB I NOTICED THAT THE CIRCUIT BOARD SHOWED SIGNS OF A BURNOUT. IT IS WELL KNOWN THAT AUDI HAS HAD A PROBLEM WITH VOLTAGE PROBLEMS WITH THE TAIL LIGHTS. WITHOUT TAIL LIGHTS, INDICATOR LIGHTS OR HAZARD LIGHTS THERE IS A SERIOUS CHANCE THAT AN ACCIDENT COULD OCCUR. CURRENTLY THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THIS FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 112,000. AH
MY CAR WAS RUNNING PERFECTLY, NEXT TIME I WENT TO DRIVE IT, IT WOULDN'T START. THE WHEELS AND SHIFTER ARE LOCKED UP .THE LIGHTS AND BELLS WORK, BUT IT TURNS OUT THAT THE MODULE THAT RECOGNIZES THE KEY HAS FAILED. I HAVE BEEN ON JUST ABOUT EVERY AUDI FORUM TO INVESTIGATE THIS, AND THIS IS AN INCREDIBLY COMMON COMPLAINT. THE PART THAT IS BROKE CANNOT BE FIXED, RATHER THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN HAS TO BE REPLACED AT A COST OF AT LEAST $2000, IN SOME CASES OVER $3000. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN DEFECT AND AUDI NEEDS TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FOR A MODULE THAT FAILS TO RECOGNIZE A KEY IS BEYOND RIDICULOUS. THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS WHATSOEVER TO INDICATE THAT THIS PART WAS FAILING. LUCKILY IT IS CURRENTLY STUCK IN MY DRIVEWAY. IT COULD HAVE LEFT ME STRANDED ANYWHERE.
