MY STEERING WHEEL LOCK INDICATOR WAS WARNING ME THAT IT WAS LOCKED (AMBER LIGHT) ULTIMATELY THE INDICATOR TURNED RED WHEN TRYING TO START THE CAR AND STRANDED ME. *TR
2006 BMW 325I. CONSUMER SENT CORRESPONDENCE IN REGARDS TO BMW RECALL REWORK FOR FRONTAL AIRBAGS NOT IN COMPLIANCE WITH GUIDELINES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS REAR ENDED AND EVER SINCE THE ACCIDENT, THE PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT HAS REMAINED ON, EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS NO FRONT END COLLISION AND THE PASSENGER SEAT WAS EMPTY. THE CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL WAS NOT BEING PERFORMED ETHICALLY AND THEREFORE, CONSUMERS AND INSURANCE COMPANIES ARE BEING MISLEAD. THE CONSUMER STATED THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS BEING TURNED OFF, INSTEAD OF ACTUALLY BEING WORKED ON TO TRY AND RESOLVE THE ISSUE.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT AND SEAT BELT WARNING LIGHT FOR THE PASSENGER ARE CONSTANTLY ON, INDICATING THE PASSENGER AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY. THIS HAPPENS REGARDLESS IF A PASSENGER IS SITTING IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OR NOT. MY VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH SPORT SEATS. THERE IS A RECALL IN ORDER FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM, BUT MY 2006 330XI WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL FOR SOME REASON. PASSENGER DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT RESPOND TO FOB OR CENTRAL LOCK/UNLOCK CONTROLLER. THE DOOR WILL UNLOCK AND OPEN FROM THE INSIDE, BUT WILL NOT OPEN WITH KEY, FOB, OR CENTRAL LOCKING CONSOLE BUTTON. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I FIRST PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2010, AND AGAIN AT THE END OF 2011. THIS IS AND CONTINUES TO BE A SAFETY HAZARD. IF THE DOOR(S) LOCK AND ARE UNABLE TO BE UNLOCKED, IT WOULD CAUSE LOSS OF LIFE. *TR
I GOT INTO MY CAR ON THE MORNING OF THE 29TH DEC. 2011. I SHOWED A YELLOW STEERING WHEEL LOCK CODE (INDICATING A POSSIBLE PROBLEM). I DROVE THE CAR AFTER WORK WITH NO PROBLEMS ALTHOUGH PLANNING ON GETTING THE VEHICLE INTO SERVICE JUST TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I PULLED INTO THE DRIVEWAY AND PARKED THE CAR, RETURNED TO IT 15 MIN LATER AND IT WOULDNT START! AFTER FURTHER INVESTIGATION INTO THE PROBLEM THE CAR SHOWED A RED STEERING WHEEL LOCK CODE INDICATING IT WOULD NO LONGER START. AFTER DEEP INVESTIGATION I FIND THE THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ON HUNDREDS OF THE SAME MODEL CAR AS MINE. MOST PEOPLE ARE TOLD TO REPROGRAM THE COMPUTER AND/OR REPLACE THE STEERING COLUMN (SOMETIMES MULTIPLE TIMES) AND THEN MOST STILL HAVE PROBLEMS. *KB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 330XI. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NONE OF THE DOORS WOULD UNLOCK EXCEPT FOR THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR AND THE ONLY WAY TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WAS THROUGH THAT DOOR. IN ADDITION, ON ONE OCCASION THE CONTACT WAS UNABLE TO UNLOCK THE VEHICLE USING THE KEY FOB AND HE WAS FORCED MANUALLY UNLOCK THE DOOR. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE DOOR ACTUATOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS AWARE OF THE FAILURE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,000.
VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING SOUTH IN THE LEFT HAND LANE ON HIGHWAY 101 IN VENTURA CALIFORNIA. DRIVER SIDE DOOR AIRBAG DEPLOYED FOR NO REASON WHILE VEHICLE WAS TRAVELING AT APPROXIMATELY 75MPH. DRIVER WAS ABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF CAR AND WAS ABLE TO REACH THE RIGHT HAND SHOULDER OF THE FREEWAY. POLICE RESPONDED TO THE SCENE AND VERIFIED THAT NO DAMAGE HAD OCCURRED TO THE CAR. AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT RESULTED IN SUPERFICIAL BURNS TO THE DRIVERS LEFT ARM AND RESIDUAL PAIN IN THE NECK REGION. DEPLOYMENT CAUSED VIOLENT MOTION TO THE CAR AND IF IT HAD OCCURRED IN A HEAVY TRAFFIC SITUATION A COLLISION WOULD HAVE BEEN UNAVOIDABLE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN FAILED TO QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V384000 (AIR BAGS:FRONTAL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BMW 325XI. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND NOTICED THAT BOTH THE AIR BAG AND SEAT BELT WARNING INDICATORS WERE ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE WOULD ALSO OCCUR WHEN DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE WARNING LIGHTS REMAINED ILLUMINATED UNTIL THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THEY DETECTED THE MALFUNCTION WAS CONTRIBUTED TO THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT SENSOR MAT. THERE WAS A RECALL RELATED TO THE DEFECT UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 08V384000 (AIR BAGS: FRONTAL). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL DEFECT. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000.
BMW SENT A RECALL ON 06 FRONT AIRBAG MAT SENSOR AND I CONTACTED THEM AND THEY STATED THAT MY VIN WAS NOT PART OF THEIR RECAL;. DESPITE THE MULTIPLE COMPLAINTS IVE FOUND ONLINE . THEY ARE DECLINING ANY TYPE OF SERVICE AND WANT ME TO PAY FOR IT FULLY. *TR

THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT IS CONSISTENTLY ACTIVATED ON THE DASH AND IN THE WARNING COMPUTER DISPLAY ALONG WITH THE PASSENGER AIRBAG "OFF LIGHT" ON THE CEILING WHICH IS ILLUMINATED EVEN IF A PASSENGER IS SITTING IN THE SEAT. ACCORDING TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP, THIS PROBLEM WAS DIAGNOSED AS A FAULTY CENSOR DETECTION MAT. THIS ISSUE SEEMS TO MATCH THE BMW RECALL LISTED AS: UPDATED 12/16/11 *BF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 08V384000 NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA08001 ACCORDING TO BMW, THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT FALL UNDER THE VIN NUMBERS THAT WERE UNDER THE RECALL BUT THE PROBLEM DOES SEEM TO MATCH THE SAME ISSUES THAT WARRANTED THE INITIAL RECALL ON JULY 18, 2008. *TR

NOTICED ALUMINUM HEADBOLT HAD BROKEN OFF AND CAUSED AN OIL LEAK CLOSE TO THE FRONT OF THE HEAD ON THE OIL FILTER SIDE OF THE BLOCK, CAUSING A BURNING OIL SMELL AS OIL FOUND ITS WAY TO THE BURNING HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD, THANKFULLY, IT DID NOT CATCH ON FIRE BUT I FEEL THAT IT EASILY COULD WHILE DRIVING AND COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT SHOULD I OR SOMEONE ELSE PANICKED AS IT WOULD HAVE HAPPENED, BMW HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THIS ISSUE IN TSB'S AND ALREADY RECTIFIED THE ISSUE IN THE 2007 MODELS OF THE EXACT SAME CARS. IF BMW DOES NOT RECTIFY THIS ISSUE, MY 5TH BMW WILL BE MY LAST AND I WILL TAKE MY HARD EARNED MONEY TO AUDI, I FIND IT HEARTBREAKING THAT A COMPANY THAT USED TO HAVE SUCH A FOCUS ON QUALITY IS REFUSING TO ACKNOWLEDGE SUCH FAILURE AND TO RIGHT THE SITUATION OVER A 3$ BOLT THAT HAS NOT ONLY THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE HARM TO MANY BUT ALSO TO ALIENATE WHAT HAVE BEEN LONG TIME CUSTOMERS AND TRUE FANS OF THE BRAND. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST AND THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE ELECTRONIC STEERING LOCK WOULD HAVE TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 56,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 57,500.
2006 BMW 330XI. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO RECALL CAMPAIGN 08V-384 CONCERNING MODIFY SEAT OCCUPANCY DETECTION MAT *TGW IN DECEMBER 2011, A WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER AIR BAG WAS NOT ACTIVATED. THE CONSUMER'S MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THE PROBLEM FROM THE VEHICLE'S ERROR CODE AND GAVE HIM A PRINTOUT, SHOWING THERE WAS AN OPEN CAMPAIGN FOR HIS YEAR AND MODEL DUE TO A DEFECTIVE MAT DETECTION SWITCH. THE CONSUMER THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHERE HE WAS CHARGED $ 139.19 FOR THAT SAME INFORMATION, THAT HE WAS GIVEN PREVIOUSLY FROM HIS MECHANIC. THE DEALER INFORMED THE CONSUMER, THAT EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL WAS FOR HIS MAKE, MODEL AND YEAR, HIS VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL, BECAUSE THE RECALL PERTAINED TO A PARTICULAR LIST OF SEATS, WHICH THE CONSUMER'S VEHICLE DID NOT HAVE, EVEN THOUGH THE DEFECTIVE SEAT MAT WAS COMMON IN ALL.
AIRBAG LIGHTS AND RESTRAINT LIGHTS BECAME LIT. DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY PASSENGER SIDE SEAT SENSOR MAT. ALREADY HAS HAD A RECALL ON SOME OF THE MODELS. NEEDS TO BE EXTENDED TO OTHER VEHICLES. *KB
AFTER APPROXIMATELY 20-30 MINUTES OF DRIVING IN THE RAIN WITH THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ON, THE WIPERS SHUT OFF AND QUIT WORKING WITHOUT WARNING. IT TAKES ABOUT 5-10 MINUTES OF TIME BEFORE THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGIN TO WORK AGAIN. THIS IS CONCERNING DUE TO POOR VISIBILITY AND MAY LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT. *TR

THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH THE MANUFACTURER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE STEERING COLUMN COULD SEIZE AND PREVENT THE WHEELS FROM BEING TURNED. THEY ALSO ADVISED THAT A SENSOR IN THE STEERING COLUMN WAS POSSIBLY FAILING AND THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN WOULD MOST LIKELY NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 70,009.
STEERING WHEEL COLUMN HAS LOCKED AND THE CAR NEEDED TO BE TOWED TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP. AFTER RESEARCHING THE VEHICLES MAKE AND MODEL (325I 2006 BMW) I HAVE NOTICED THAT THIS IS AN ONGOING ISSUE WITH THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN AND IGNITION PORT. BMW HAS DISCONTINUED THIS TYPE OF STEERING WHEEL COLUMN WHEN BUILDING THEIR 2007 VEHICLES BECAUSE ITS AN ISSUE. WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN RECALLED AND WHY HASN'T ANYONE TAKEN ACTION ON THE INCIDENT? *TR

I DON'T KNOW WHY 3 SERIES MODELS WITH SPORT SEAT ARE NOT IN THIS RECALL. ONLINE YOU CAN EASILY FIND OUT OTHER OWNERS WITH THE SAME KIND OF PROBLEMS. AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT STARTED TO COME ON WITH NO APPARENT CAUSE. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, AND WAS TOLD THAT THE MAT IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED, AND THAT IT WAS A SAFETY ISSUE. COST WAS OVER $1,100 PLUS TAX. I NOW SEE THAT THERE IS A RECALL FOR 2006 325XI MODELS WITH SPORT SEATS -- MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE SPORT SEATS, BUT HAD THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THAT ALL MODELS SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. *TR

RANDOMLY WHILE THERE IS EITHER WEIGHT FROM A BAG OR A PERSON IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT, THE SEATBELT LIGHT WILL APPEAR ON THE DASH AND THE PASSENGER AIRBAG OFF LIGHT WILL LIGHT UP ON THE ROOF. THIS TELLS ME THAT THE AIRBAG WILL NOT DEPLOY EVEN THOUGH THERE IS SOMEONE IN THE SEAT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. *TR
THE STEERING WHEEL LOCK WOULD NOT UNLOCK. AN ERROR MESSAGE SHOWS ON THE DISPLAY INDICATING A STEERING WHEEL LOCK MALFUNCTION. THIS ERROR WOULD NOT ALLOW FOR THE CAR TO START. THIS RESULTED IN THE ENTIRE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN NEEDING REPLACED. *TR

ALSO A 'SEAT BELT' ICON SHOWS IN THE DASHBOARD DESPITE IT BEING CLICKED IN. NHTSA ACTION NUMBER: EA08001 THANKFULLY DUE TO NHTSA, THE MANUFACTURER, BMWNA, WAS FORCED TO RECALL A TOTAL OF 200,000 VEHICLES WITH THIS EXACT SAME ISSUE. ACCORDING TO THE NHTSA LISTING, MY VEHICLE IS COVERED UNDER A MASS RECALL OF THE 'SENSOR MAT' LOCATED IN THE PASSENGER SEAT OF VARIOUS BMW MODELS TO DETECT WHEN A PASSENGER IS SITTING ON THE SEAT WHICH THEN TRIGGERS THE SENSOR TO READY THE AIRBAG IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. MY MODEL 2006 BMW 325I (WITH SPORTS AND PREMIUM PACKAGE) IS MENTIONED IN THE VEHICLE LIST, BOTH BY MANUFACTURER MAKE (BMW), MODEL (3-SERIES/ 325I), AND SPECIFICALLY THE TYPE OF SEAT, BEING SPORTS PACKAGE. I HAVE TAKEN MY VEHICLE TO THE BMW DEALERSHIP WHERE I PURCHASED IT FROM TO GET THE ISSUE LOOKED AT AS THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND MY PASSENGERS WAS A PRIME CONSIDERATION WHEN PURCHASING THE VEHICLE IN THE FIRST PLACE. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT I AM BEING ASKED TO PAY EXORBITANT REPAIR FEES TO FIX BASIC SAFETY SYSTEMS DESPITE THAT MY CAR SHOULD FALL UNDER THE RECALL AS IT IS EXPERIENCING THE EXACT SAME ISSUES.
