Open the full vehicle complaint log (all categories)I WAS DRIVING DOWN ROUTE 295 IN VIRGINIA WITH NO OVERPASSES OR ELEVATIONS AROUND ME AND NO CARS IN FRONT OF ME ONLY BEHIND ME, WHEN SUDDENLY THE SUNROOF GLASS SHATTERED. LUCKILY SINCE MY SUNROOF WAS CLOSED I HAD THE INSIDE COVER PULLED FORWARD SO THE GLASS DID NOT FALL ON TOP OF ME. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A DISASTER FOR ME IF THE GLASS HAD FALLEN ON ME AND CREATED OR CAUSED ME TO TURN INTO OTHER TRAFFIC. PHOTO
SUNROOF GLASS EXPLODED. NO INJURY AS ROOF SLIDER (THIN SLIDE PANEL UNDERNEATH GLASS) WAS CLOSED. VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON HIGHWAY TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH. NO APPARENT IMPACT POINT, GLASS APPEARS TO BE EXPANDED OUTWARD (VS. INWARD).
Complaints are unverified consumer reports submitted to NHTSA. A high complaint count may reflect vehicle popularity, not defect severity. Data sourced from NHTSA public records.
