BMW NA and its authorized dealership and self-funded arbitration program business practices and conducts are unfair, dishonest, and unlawful. I purchased my certified pre-owned car, a lease return with extremely low mileage, 25,922 miles covered under the terms of the BMW New Vehicle Warranty and the BMW Certified Pre-Owned warranty. My family's safety has been at significant risk by the willful negligence of the car manufacturer BMW NA and its authorized dealership. Since I purchased my car, it has had material defects related to its engine, engine electrical systems, engine and gearbox suspension, steering and wheel alignment, front and rear axles, intermediate and special transmission, fuel tank, and more. I recently discovered my car's existing defects codes stored and archived by BMW, referred to as Key Data. The existing faults are considered significant by a reasonable person when deciding whether to buy this car. I would not have purchased this car if I had been aware of the defects at the time of purchase. I also discovered that BMW's authorized dealership withheld material information about my car's defects when my car was at the repair shop overnight. According to my DCSnet Warranty Vehicle Inquiry document, BMW made some sort of repair on my car for that service visit without my prior authorization and filed a warranty repair claim with the manufacturer. I have spent months and countless hours attempting to resolve my car's defects with BMW NA, its authorized dealership, and their self-funded arbitration program, BBB Auto Line. On 11/08/2021, following subsequent repairs by BMW's authorized dealership, the check engine light came on while driving on the freeway.
AFTER DRIVING ABOUT 2 MILES FROM FROM HOME THE STEERING LOCKED UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON A TOWN ROAD AND TURNING. WAS ABLE TO GET TO SHOULDER OF ROAD. AFTER SHUTTING OFF THE IGNITION AND RESTARTING CAR THE PROBLEM DISAPPEARED AND CONTINUED TO MY DESTINATION. LATER THAT DAY ON MY RETURN TRIP, AFTER DRIVING ONLY A FEW BLOCKS THE STEERING AGAIN LOCKED UP WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION THIS TIME GOING STRAIGHT ON A PARKWAY. AFTER STOPPING ON THE SIDE OF ROAD, IT WOULD NOT RESET ITSELF LIKE BEFORE AND HAD TO BE TOWED FOR SERVICE. DEALER PAID FOR TOWING,LOANER,AND REPAIRS. I ASKED IF THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY SAID NO.THEY SAID IT WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE REPAIRS INCLUDED REPLACING THE STEERING RACK.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 BMW X1. WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE STEERING WHEEL STARTED TO VIBRATE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS ACTIVATED AT FULL CAPACITY. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS WORKING UP TO SPECIFICATIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 8,500.
