The contact was informed that the VANOS bolts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact referenced NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V707000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. In addition, the contact stated that the dealer confirmed the failure and declined to perform a diagnostic test due to the age of the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but provided no assistance. The contact was advised to contact the NHTSA Hotline to report the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 175,000.
The contact owns a 2009 BMW X5. The contact stated that after pulling into a parking space there was white smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle and the engine started overheating. The contact added coolant immediately. There were no warning lights illuminated. The failure had occurred twice. The vehicle was taken to a certified mechanic who diagnosed that the water pump, thermostat, and heater hoses had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that the coolant had leaked out and the engine started overheating. The contact added more coolant to the coolant reservoir; however, the failure recurred 20 miles later. After parking the vehicle, the contact became aware that oil was leaking underneath the vehicle. The vehicle had not been returned to the mechanic. The vehicle had not been taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was informed of the failure however, the VIN was not included in a recall. The manufacturer referred the contact to the NHTSA Hotline to file a complaint. The failure mileage was 230,000.

The contact’s son owns a 2009 BMW X5. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to veer the vehicle off the road. No warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the fuel pump module failed and needed to be replaced. The contact was then informed by the mechanic of NHTSA Campaign Number: 16V746000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The dealer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was included in the NHTSA Campaign Number 16V746000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was then towed to the dealer where the contact was informed that the VIN was included NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V119000 (Engine and Engine Cooling) but not the recall related to the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and confirmed that the VIN was not included in the recall and advised the contact to call the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
My vehicles serpentine belt broke twice and my A.C. belt broke once due to the tensioner pulley bolt loosening over time. I lost power steering and power of the over all vehicle. I was driving at 60 miles per hour, there has been a recall on this part for this exact same model but BMW is saying it is vin specific. This is very unsafe.
The vehicle backfires and stalls on the road due to BMWs defective pcv crankcase valve. The valve put pressure inside engine which it couldn't handle causing a blown gasket and oil leak, the leak fell on the serpentine belt and AC belt and they slipped off. Causing the power steering to lock up on me while driving. The engine has a whistling noise coming from it. I'm parking and towing to bmw. I can diagnose it without there scanner. This is crazy and very dangerous.
More than one time I have been traveling at regular speed and the vehicle will suddenly power off and shift into Park. While I’m driving, the battery still has power but the engine shuts off. I am suddenly stopped in the middle of the highway, turning in an intersection, going up a incline. I then try to start the vehicle and it will not turn over. The car remains stuck in park. Eventually the battery wears down and will not even engage the starter. But the lights and flashers will still be on. I have taken the car in multiple times to the bmw dealership telling them of the situation and they tell me it is not showing any problem. The vehicle does not give any warning and there are no engine or warning lights that appear. This happens at any time of day. There are constant complaints of these issues happening with multiple models of bmw.

The vehicle was towed to the local dealer who diagnosed that the passenger’s side main wiring harness was charred and melted and needed to be replaced. The wiring harness was replaced but the failure immediately reoccurred. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 140,000.

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The dealer and manufacturer were made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
While parked in my driveway, the car by it self caught fire and melted the entire fusebox, major wire harness, entire right rear panel was burnt and melted, rear headliner, and rear light housing. When I opened the door there was a huge black cloud of smoke inside.
Crank no start scanner saying it is in 3rd gear not park.
I just went to Union Park Bmw about my car, they stated that my car fuel pump was recalled in 2017 so it was fixed, in 2021 l was stranded twice in 100 degree weather on the side road when the fuel pump went out, so this is the third time this vehicle has had new fuel pumps, now this month on Tuesday 7 /19 when it was hot as hades it stopped again same way it did prior , had it towed and they stated it was wiring that leads to the engine from the fuel pump. They made sure as part of there man made 358.00$ diagnosis that it was not related to the fuel pum.
During extreme hot days car has just stopped without warning three times. Fuel pump has been replaced twice , now they are saying wiring from the fuel pump to the computer system the wiring bad? No warning ever!
Headlight wires are made poorly. Susceptible to heat damage. The wire insulation cracks off, leaving bare copper wires to touch. Therefore, the low beams, etc will no longer function. The only solution is $3,000+ on new headlights.
My engine is being effected by the recall. There is smoke and a burning smell coming from my engine. The Recall was issued March 2 2002 and today is January 11, 2022. My truck is driving worse daily and I can not get it inspected because it will not read my system.
I was returning home from work and the engine started to sputter/vibrate. I was right next to a gas station and as I was pulling into the gas station, the engine died and would not restart. I had the car towed and then I proceeded to troubleshoot the problem. I did a fuel pressure test and found that there was no fuel pressure. I tested the fuel pump relay and found it to be operational. I accessed the primary fuel pump to check power and found the fuel pump wiring to be missing an inch of insulation on both wires and the insulation is brittle for another inch or two. There were two splices on the fuel pump wiring where recall #16V746000 was performed and a new connector was spliced in. Those two splices were melted together. Recall #16V746000 was a problem with the fuel pump connector melting due to loose wiring. I have concern that there is still an issue with the fuel system wiring overheating or the repair process is not adequate to solve the issue.

The dealer was notified of the failure and the contact was given a second appointment. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. The VIN was not available.
CAR STUCK IN PARK AND IS IN FAIL SAFE MODE ALSO WHEN TRYING TO CHARGE BATTERY WHILE IT'S DEAD IT SOUNDS LIKE THE WHOLE CAR IS CLICKING
CAR BEGAN TO OVERHEAT WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY, EXITED HIGHWAY TO CITY STREET, THEN THE ALERT FOR LOW COOLANT CAME ON. IMMEDIATELY FOUND A PLACE TO PARK TO KEEP ENGINE FROM BEING COMPROMISED. ALLOWED TO COOL, OPENED RESERVOIR AND COOLANT WAS LOW. ADDED ONE GALLON OF APPROVED COOLANT. DROVE FOR 5 MILES. CAR SAT FOR SEVERAL HOURS. STARTED CAR, ALERT CAME BACK ON. CHECKED BENEATH VEHICLE, ALL OF THE COOLANT LEAKED ONTO THE GROUND.

THERE HAVE BEEN TWO OCCASIONS THAT I HAVE CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP ON MY VEHICLE. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS THAT IT TURNS OFF SUDDENLY. I AM SO AFRAID THAT THIS MIGHT JUST HAPPEN WORST THING IS THAT THERE ARE NO LIGHT INDICATORS THAT WILL TELL YOU THAT THERE IS SOMETHING WRONG.
I OWN A 2009 BMW X5 DIESEL. BMW HAS RECOGNIZED AN ISSUE WITH A SENSOR IN THE SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION (SCR) ACTIVE TANK. THE TANK STORES DIESEL FLUID. DIESEL FLUID IS ADDED INTO DIESEL TO REDUCE THE AMOUNT OF EMISSIONS THAT IS RELEASED FROM THE VEHICLE. BMW EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THIS PART BUT IT IS UNKNOWN HOW THEY DETERMINE THE AMOUNT OF THIS EXTENSION. MY VEHICLE IS OVER THE EXTENDED WARRANTY BY 4 MONTHS BUT UNDER THE MILEAGE LIMIT BY 40,000 MILES. THIS ISSUE SHOULD BE A RECALL CALL AND NOT AN EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH LIMITED TIME TO REPAIR THE ISSUE. I ATTEMPTED TO RESOLVE THIS WITH SEAN S. AT BMW CUSTOMER RELATIONS BY INFORMING HIM THAT THIS IS MY COMMUTER VEHICLE AND I HAVE TO DRIVE THIS CAR EVERY DAY. I ALSO INFORMED HIM THAT IF NOT RESOLVED THIS WILL LEAD TO A LARGE AMOUNT OF POLLUTION RELEASED TO THE ENVIRONMENT. SEAN S. I HAVE 2009 BMW X5 XDRIVE 48I , 148700 MILE ON IT . I AM FACING A BIG UN SAFETY PROBLEMS WITH THE MALFUNCTION IN DRIVE IN TRANSMISSION AND AWD AND DSC HAVE MALFUNCTIONED. THIS PROBLEMS ON BMW X5 2009 IT'S FROM THE CAR AND THIS MODEL EXACTLY AND THIS PROBLEM HAPPENED WITH ME LAT WEEK AND THE CAR IT START OF WHEN I DRIVE IT SOMETIMES BY IT SELF AND DIDN'T KNOW WHAT TO DO I CANNOT HANDLE IT AND I NEED RECALL FOR THIS TO FIX IT AT THE DEALER NEAR ME PLEASE

BAD WATER PUMP AT 43886 MILES. BMW IS RECALLING X5 FROM 2008 THROUGH 2011 BUT WHEN I CALLED CUSTOMERELATIONS@BMWUSA.COM THEY TOLD ME THERE IS NO RECALL ON THIS VEHICLE. HOW CAN BMW CALLS THEIR VEHICLES "ULTIMATE DRIVING MECHANICS" WHEN WATER PUMP FAILS AT 43886 MILES WHICH COST ME $1318.29. LABOR COST $803 FOR LESS THAN 1.5 HOURS WORK. BMW MUST ACKNOWLEDGE THE WATER PUMP FAILURE AT LOW MILEAGE.

THE ORIGINAL WATER PUMP HAS BEEN REPLACED THREE (3) TIMES IN FOUR (4) YEARS. EACH TIME THE WATER PUMP FAILED COOLANT STARTED LEAKING OUT OF THE PUMP AND THE LOW COOLANT INDICATOR ILLUMINATED ON THE DASH. THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION FOR EACH OF THE THREE (3) INCIDENCES. THE ORIGINAL PUMP WAS REPLACED IN 2015 AND THE THIRD PUMP REPLACED IN JUNE, 2019.
LOST POWER WHILE CRUISING AT 60 M/HR. OTHER CARS ALMOST HIT ME WHEN I WAS TRYING TO MOVE TO THE SIDE FOR SAFETY CAUSING LOTS OF TRAFFIC. THEN WENT TO THE BMW DEALER (PATRICT BMW) IN SCHAUMBURG IL FOR DIAGNOSTIC AND FOUND OUT THERE WAS A PROBLEM IN THE FUEL SYSTEM ELECTRICALLY. THE WIRING HARNESS WERE MELTED , BLEW FUSE AND RELAY AND THEY SAID THE MOTOR ALSO BURNED OUT. I WILL ATTACHED DOCUMENT FROM THE BMW DEALER FOR MOE INFO.
3-2-19 I BROUGHT CAR TO BMW IN FT PERCE, FL FOR 4 RECALLS WHICH THEY DID. THERE WAS A PASSENGER AIR BAG LIGHT ON AFTERWARDS WHICH THEY SAID THEY WOULD NOT FIX UNDER RECALL. I HAD A LICENSED ASC MECHANIC SCAN THE CAR AND IT CAME UP OC3 SEAT MAT FAULT. I LOOKED UP THIS AND THERE WAS A CAMPAIGN APRIL 2009 WHICH SPECIFICALLY STATES ON THE 1ST PAGE UNDER SITUATION THAT AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ISSUE IS EXTENDED 10 YEARS WITHOUT MILEAGE LIMIT. I CALLED BMW HEADQUARTERS 3-25-19 AND FILED A REPORT, THEY TOLD ME MY VIN# WASN'T RECALLED BUT I SAID IT IS FOR THE PASSENGER SEAT MAT THAT WAS RECALLED APRIL 2009 AND THIS SHOULD BE COVERED IF IT IS THE SAME PROBLEM. THEY TOLD ME THEY WOULD ESCALATE IT. TODAY, 3-26-19, I RECEIVED A CALL FROM ANOTHER BMW REP AND THEY SAID THEY WERE WORKING ON IT BUT THEY WOULD PROBABLY NOT COVER IT DUE TO THE AGE OF THE CAR AND MILEAGE. I TOLD THEM, "NO,, YOUR APRIL 2009 RECALL SAYS IT WAS EXTENDED 10 YEARS WITHOUT MILEAGE LIMIT, SO IT SHOULD BE COVERED". THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AND IF OTHER SAME MAKE,MODEL, YEAR WERE RECALLED FOR THE SAME PROBLEM I AM HAVING THEN THEY NEED TO FIX MY CAR AT THEIR COST. I NEED YOUR HELP IN GETTING THIS CAR RESOLVED AS I JUST RECENTLY BOUGHT IT.
2009 BMW X535D ACTIVE FUEL TANK SENSOR NOT WORKING
WHEN THE VEHICLE IS IDLE IT WILL HAVE A WHITE SMOKE THAT COMES OUT THE TAIL PIPE. ALSO LOOSING ANTI FREEZE FREQUENTLY

MY 2009 BMW X5 IS EXHIBITING THE SAME ISSUES LISTED ON THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 13V339000 RELATING TO THE 'FUEL FILTER HEATER/ POSSIBLE FIRE' ISSUE. ALTHOUGH THE MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR ARE EXACTLY AS LISTED ON THE NHTSA RECALL 13V339000 FOR SOME REASON MY VEHICLE'S VIN IS NOT LISTED ON THE RECALL NOTE. I PLEADED WITH THE BMW DEALERSHIP TO REPAIR THIS SAFETY ISSUE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE MAKE MODEL AND YEAR ARE THE SAME TO NO AVAIL. MY VEHICLE HAS A WARNING LIGHT INDICATING I HAVE THE ISSUE WITH THE HEATER AS WELL AS BATTERY DRAIN ISSUES RELATED TO THE HEATER STAYING ON NOT BY DESIGN. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 BMW X5. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE CONTACT WAS INVOLVED IN A MULTIPLE VEHICLE COLLISION. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO THE REAR OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BACK, NECK, AND PELVIS INJURIES THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE DRIVER OF THE OTHER VEHICLE WAS NOT INJURED. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION CENTER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 72,000.
I BOUGHT MY 2009 BMW X5 VEHICLE IN JUNE 2018, WITH APPROXIMATELY 61,630 MILES AND A LIMITED WARRANTY WITH 'POWER TRAIN COVERAGE', WHICH INCLUDED 'ENGINE, TRANSMISSION, FRONT WHEEL DRIVE, AND REAR WHEEL DRIVE'. IN MID-OCTOBER 2018, MY VEHICLE BEGAN SHOWING THE 'LOW COOLANT LEVEL' LIGHT AND 'LOW OIL LEVEL' LIGHT. I CALLED THE FLOW BMW DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND TOOK MY VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICE ON 10/19/18. FLOW BMW DIAGNOSED A LEAK IN THE RADIATOR. AFTER CONTACTING THE WARRANTY COMPANY (ASSURE) THE WARRANTY COMPANY INFORMED THE SERVICE MANAGER THAT THEY WOULD NOT COVER THE COST OF A NEW RADIATOR ($1,300.00) BECAUSE IT WAS NOT COVERED BY THE LIMITED WARRANTY UNDER 'POWER TRAIN COVERAGE'. THE RADIATOR IS ONE OF THE ENGINE'S UNSUNG HEROES. IT'S RESPONSIBLE FOR ESSENTIAL HEAT EXCHANGE FUNCTIONS IN YOUR CAR'S COOLING SYSTEM. THE NORMAL OPERATING TEMPERATURE OF THE AVERAGE CAR ENGINE IS AROUND 190-210 DEGREES FAHRENHEIT. WITH A DEFECTIVE RADIATOR, THE INCREASED HEAT STARTS TO WEAR ON OTHER ENGINE COMPONENTS, AND THE RESULTING STRESS CAN SHORTEN ENGINE LIFE DRAMATICALLY. THE COOLANT SYSTEM IS ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL TO KEEPING THE ENGINE RUNNING. THIS IS A DANGER TO THE DRIVER AND TO OTHERS ON THE ROAD. THE RADIATOR ISSUE AND INEVITABLE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE CAN CAUSE SERIOUS INJURY TO OTHER DRIVERS ON THE ROAD IF THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE SEIZES ARE STOPS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. AFTER SOME RESEARCH, I LEARNED THAT OTHER BMW CUSTOMERS HAVE COMPLAINED ABOUT THE RADIATORS IN BMWS FROM THE YEARS 2007-2013 (DOCUMENTS ATTACHED). AGAIN, THE RADIATOR IS A VITAL PART OF ENSURING THAT THE ENGINE RUNS APPROPRIATELY, AND IF THERE IS EVIDENCE OF CONSISTENT LEAKING WITH BMW VEHICLES WITH VERY FEW MILES DUE TO A MANUFACTURING ERROR, THEN THIS PROBLEM SHOULD BE CORRECTED. PLEASE SEE ATTACHED DOCUMENTATION FOR MORE INFORMATION.
I AM SMELLING EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR HEALTH EXHAUST FUMES INSIDE THE CAR WHILE DRIVING. THE MORE THE CABIN HEAT IS APPLIED, THE MORE EXHAUST SMELL IS NOTICEABLE. I FOUND MANY FORUMS ONLINE RELATED TO THE SAME ISSUE ON 2009 AND UP DIESEL POWERED BMW X5 XDRIVE35D. PEOPLE ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT FAULTY EGR COOLERS, LEAKING TURBOS ETC. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 BMX X5. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED, WHICH WAS A SAFETY CONCERN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO BMW OF MONTEREY (1 GEARY PLAZA, SEASIDE, CA 93955, (831) 920-0743) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE PASSENGER SEAT MAT SENSOR FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,116.
I STOPPED AT A DRIVE THRU WINDOW AND THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WITHOUT WARNING. I COULDN'T GET IT STARTED AND THE POLICE TRIED TO PUT IN NEUTRAL TO MOVE IT OUT OF THE WAY. NO LIGHTS OR ANYTHING INDICATED THAT SOMETHING WAS WRONG. I HAVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE FOR 4 DAYS.THE AIRBAG RESTRAINT LIGHT IS ON AND WAITING FOR THE SENSOR. NOT SURE IF THIS IS A RECALL. IT WAS TOWED TO A SHOP AND THEN IT STARTED WHEN GETTING IT OFF THE TOW TRUCK. I DON'T TRUST DRIVING IT NOW BECAUSE IT CAN GO OUT WHILE I'M ON THE FREEWAY OR HIGHWAY AND CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. THERE ARE NO REPORTS BECAUSE I WAS AT A DRIVE THRU AND JUST TRIED TO GET IT OUT OF THE WAY. WE HAD THE LATEST RECALL DONE ON 08/31/2018.

WHEN THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE AUTO PARK DISENGAGED AND THE VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO FLOW BMW (2565 PETERS CREEK PKWY, WINSTON-SALEM, NC 27127, 366-788-3333) FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, BUT THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND A FIELD REPRESENTATIVE CAME TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS WATER IN THE TRANSMISSION CASE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 93,000.

2009 BMW X5 35D VEHICLE STARTED TO DISPLAY VARIOUS MALFUNCTION CODES GOING INTO LIMP MODE SEVERAL TIMES IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC LOOSING POWER OR SUDDEN SHUT DOWN OF ENGINE ESPECIALLY GOING OVER PUMPS OR ROUGH AND UNEVEN SURFACES SMOKE WAS SEEN COMING FROM UNDER HOOD. VEHICLE EVENTUALLY HAD A NO STARTING CONDITION. LAST DISPLAY ON IDRIVE SAID IGNITION MALFUNCTION. MECHANIC FOUND MAIN ENGINE HARNESS AT BACK OF CYLINDER HEAD WAS BURNT FROM THE ENGINE HEAT CAUSING THE INSULATION ON THE WIRES TO BE MELTED AND IN TURN WELDED THEMSELVES TOGETHER,USED WIRE HARNESS WERE PURCHASE TO REPLACE DEFECTIVE HARNESS BUT THEY ALL HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ABOUT UPDATED HARNESS TO CORRECT PROBLEM THE DEALER ADMIT THAT THEY DO KNOW ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT THERE IS NO RECALL FOR IT. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AND SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE BY THE MANUFACTURER TO CORRECT IT NEW HARNESSES WILL BE BURNT JUST LIKE THE OLD ONES IF IT'S NOT RECTIFIED
BRAKE LIGHTS ARE FAILING CAUSING A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. BMW ISSUED A SERVICE BULLETIN ON THIS PROBLEM (SB-10040177-8428 / SI B63 10 09) IN MARCH 2011. THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN SERVICED BY THE BMW DEALERSHIP MANY MANY TIMES, BUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN WAS NEVER MENTIONED OR EXECUTED. 2009 BMW X5 DIESEL PASSIVE TANK FAILED. I TOLD THE DEALER AND CALLED BMW CUSTOMER CARE AND TOLD THEM THIS IS EMMISIONS RELATED AND THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED IT WHEN THEY REPLACED THE ACTIVE TANK A YEAR AGO. BMW DIESELS WILL NOT PASS SMOG DUE TO DEFECTIVE DESIGNS OF THE ACTIVE AND PASSIVE TANKS THAT CONTAIN DEF. THE SENSORS ARE LOCATED INSIDE THE TANK AND CANNOT BE REPLACED BY AN OVER THE COUNTER BMW PART. HENCE THE WHOLE TANKS HAVE TO BE REPLACED. BMW CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT WILLING TO HELP AND BASICALLY TOLD ME TO GO BUY ANOTHER BRAND WHICH I WILL AFTER OWNING 4 BMW. BMW SHOULD BE HEAVILY INVESTIGATED FOR DESIGNING A POOR EMMISIONS SYSTEM FOUND IN THE BMW X5 AND 335D DIESEL VEHICLES SOLD IN THE USA. SHAME ON YOU BMW FOR SCREWING YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMES.
SIR, BMW INSTALLS RUNFLATS ON ALL THEIR CARS. ON THIS X5 I'VE REPLACED THESE TIRES 3 OR 4 TIMES AT MY OWN EXPENSE AS RUNFLATS EITHER GET PUNCTURE OR LEAK AND ONE CAN'T REPLACE @3/32 OLY ONE.THESE TIRES ARE DEFECTIVE AND HAVE NOT SERVED THIS SUV WELL. IN FACT, MY WIFE'S BM@ 535XI I DID THE SAME AND THREW OUT OEM TIRES WITH NEW MICHELIN AND SPARE. BRIDGESTONE HAS A WARRRANTY IF WITHIN 3YRS THEY WILL REPLACE @ VERY LARGE PRORATED DISCOUNT. I'VE SPENT $270 EACH TIME PLUS HEADACHES OF BREAKING DOWN IN PHILA OR IN NYC ON WAY TO PICK UP WIFE FROM JFK @ MIDNITE. FILE SIZE IS OVER 5GB SO HOW DO I LOAD IT???
MY 2009 X5 WITH 127000 MILES RECENTLY INDICATED A BURNT OUT BRAKE LIGHT. WHILE REPLACING THE LIGHT, I FOUND THE REAR UPPER RIGHT BRAKE LIGHT WAS BURNT OUT, THE TAILLIGHT ITSELF IS MELTED, AND THE SOCKET IS SEVERELY MELTED AND SCORCHED. ON FURTHER INVESTIGATION, THE OPPOSITE SIDE (LEFT/DRIVER'S SIDE) WAS ALSO MELTED! CHECKING ONLINE, THIS APPEARS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM. I AM AFRAID THIS COULD BE A FIRE HAZARD AND WAS SURPRISED TO LEARN THERE IS NOT AN OUTSTANDING RECALL ON THE TAILLIGHTS FOR THIS VEHICLE.
