TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 BUICK LACROSSE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED AND FAILED TO RESPOND AS THE TRACTION CONTROL AND THE ABS WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ABS AND TRACTION CONTROL FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED AND THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER:14V355000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 210,000.
STEERING IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO TURN AT LOW SPEEDS SUCH AS TURNING INTO A PARKING SPACE. OCCURS ALL THE TIME. APPLYING THE BRAKE MAY PLAY A PART. *TR
IT HAD RAINED EARLIER IN THE DAY AND THE ROADS WERE STILL WET. I WAS TRAVELING 30 MPH IN A 40 MPH ZONE. I APPLIED MY BRAKES APPROX. 200 FEET PRIOR TO THE TRAFFIC AND STOP LIGHT. THE CAR SKIDDED. AT 150 FEET I BROKE HARDER AND THE ABS ENGAGED. THE HARDER I PUSHED THE MORE THE CAR SKIDDED. THE BRAKES NEVER STOPPED THE CAR -- IT ONLY SLOWED IT DOWN. THE ONLY TIME THE CAR STOPPED WAS WHEN IT HIT THE SUV IN FRONT OF IT, CAUSING $3,000 WORTH OF DAMAGE TO MY CAR. EITHER THE BRAKES DON'T WORK PROPERLY, OR THERE IS NOT ENOUGH TRACTION WITH THE TIRES.
