My 2014 Buick Verano, that I have owned for several years now, is consuming oil at an alarming rate. The problem is that the manufacturer put a PCV valve into the engines intake manifold that gets clogged and produces too much pressure. With the pressure being so high, it forces oil into the air intake breather box and up through the throttle body and gets burnt off. If the oil pressure gets too high, the additional risk is that the rear main seal may get blown. Because of this, I have to continuously check for proper engine oil level, and even while doing that often (weekly), there are times that I find the car needing more than 2 quarts of oil to be put into the engine regardless of how long it has been between oil changes. Additionally, there has never been an oil light or any indicator light showing any trouble at all. GM knows there are problems with these 2.4l engines because they sent letters to some owners of 2012 GMC Terrains with the same problems. As there are still many Buick Veranos and other vehicles on the road sharing the same engine, I believe that GM should still be held responsible for repairing a known problem. I have not taken this to the dealer for this problem, as I have read many other accounts of people being charged diagnosis fees with $5000 plus repair bills for this issue.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 BUICK VERANO. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT A TRAFFIC LIGHT, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, BUT THE VEHICLE STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO COULTER BUICK (7780 S AUTOPLEX LOOP, TEMPE, AZ 85284, (480) 666-7397) WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED TO SCHEDULE A DIAGNOSTIC APPOINTMENT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 123,000.
ENGINE CUT OFF WITH NO WARNING SIGN, SYMBOL WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. COASTED OFF THE ROAD, HAD VEHICLE TOWED TO MECHANIC. TOOK THREE QUARTS OF OIL TO REGISTER ON STICK. OIL AND FILTER WAS CHANGED ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF AGO. AGAIN, NO LOW OIL PRESSURE, ENGINE SERVICE LIGHT, ETC. NO WARNING JUST STOPPED RUNNING. WAS ON A RURAL ROAD, HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE INTERSTATE OR HIGHWAY IT WOULD HAVE BEEN HORRIBLE. THE MECHANIC SAYS THE ENGINE HAS LOST COMPRESSION AND RECOMMENDS A NEW MOTOR. DEALERSHIP AND MANUFACTURER SAY NO WARRANTY LEFT ON THE VEHICLE AND NO RECALLS FOR THIS VEHICLE HAVE BEEN ISSUED.
ACTUATOR HAS GONE OUT AT 28,000 MILES WHICH HAS TO DO WITH THE TIMING CHAIN. IT SOUNDS LIKE THIS IS A DESIGN ISSUE WITH THE VERANO. IT IS IN THE SHOP AND HAS BEEN FOR TWO WEEKS.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 BUICK VERANO. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 23,000.
THIS IS MY SECOND COMPLAINT. MY WIFE FORGOT TO PRESS THE STOP ENGINE BUTTON AGAIN BECAUSE OF A DISTRACTION. AS A RESULT SHE BURNED A QUARTER TANK OF GAS WHILE SHE WAS GONE FROM THE VEHICLE. WHY IS THERE NOT A SAFETY SHUT OFF LIKE THE TEN MINUTE SHUT OFF IN REMOTE START MODE? IF THIS WAS IN MY INTEGRAL GARAGE I COULD BE DEAD FROM CARBON MONOXIDE. IS THIS ANOTHER SHOVE IT UNDER THE RUG LIKE THE GM KEY SCANDAL. SINCE SO MANY VEHICLES ARE GOING TO THIS TECHNOLOGY WHY HASN'T THIS BEEN LOOKED AT? MY WIFE IS ONLY 61 AND IN GOOD HEALTH. WHAT OF THE OLDER FOLKS WITH PROBLEMS TO DO? *TR
