TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TEMPERATURE GAUGE MALFUNCTIONED AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT SPOKE WITH SEVERAL DEALERS, INCLUDING GRAY CHEVROLET (1245 N 9TH ST, STROUDSBURG, PA 18360, (866) 505-3058), RAY PRICE MT POCONO CHEVROLET (2969 PA-940, MT POCONO, PA 18344, (570) 839-0810), AND ABELOFF BUICK GMC (1167 N 9TH ST, STROUDSBURG, PA 18360, (877) 816-1775) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE DISCONTINUED AND NO LONGER AVAILABLE TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE PART HAD BEEN DISCONTINUED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
I GOT THE CAR A FEW YEARS AGO ONLY DROVE IT FOR 5 MONTHS FOUND OUT ABOUT THE RECALL. I HAD TO PAY FOR THE CAR TO GO NASSAU BAHAMAS. THEY NEVER SHIP IT FOR ME .THEY PAID THE IGNITION REPAIRS NEVER GAVE ME A RENTAL CAR. THEN I CALLED BACK A FEW MONTHS ABOUT A WARRANTY SAY 60,000 MILES OR 5 YEAR THEY TELL ANOTHER RECALL FOR THE SAME THING. SO I STARTED CHECKING COME TO FIND ALL KINDA LAW SUIT ON THAT TYPE MODEL. TIMING CHAIN TENSER BOLT AND GUIDE BRAKES AND DESTROYS THE MOTOR ON CHEVROLET COBALT 2005 CAUSING THE CAR TO NOT START ALSO TURNS ON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND GOES TO LOW POWER MODE ALSO THE TRANSMISSION HAS PROBLEM TOO
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 35 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL FUMES EMITTING FROM THE INNER PART OF THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE AFTER SOME TIME. THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START INTERMITTENTLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE EXHAUST, OXYGEN SENSOR, THERMOSTAT AND OTHER UNKNOWN PARTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. HOWEVER, THE FAILURE PERSISTED AS THE CONTACT NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM UNDERNEATH THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE STREET MY CAR SIGNALED REDUCED POWER, THEN ENGINE DISABLED. CAR SLOWED DOWN TO ABOUT 10 MILES AN HOUR, COULD NOT ACCELERATE. HAD TO PULL THE CAR OVER, AND TURN THE CAR OFF. WAITED ABOUT FIVE MINUTES AND RESTARTED MY CAR. THIS HAPPENS ABOUT THREE TIMES DAILY, AND I WAS TOLD BY CHEVROLET AND GM THAT IT'S A COMMON ISSUE WITH CHEVROLET COBALTS BETWEEN THE YEARS 2005 AND 2009 BUT THIS IS NOT ON RECALL. TODAY MY CAR STALLED FIVE TIMES AND MY BUMPER WAS HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. I'VE BEEN CALLING CHEVROLET FOR THE PAST TWO WEEKS AND TRYING TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE ABOUT MY CAR AS IT IS THE ONLY ISSUE. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESUME NORMAL FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE HEAD GASKET WAS BLOWN AND CAUSED INTERNAL DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE. AS A RESULT, THE ENGINE REQUIRED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 100,000.
THE VEHICLE WILL PERIODICALLY JERK/HICCUP AT RANDOM WHILE DRIVING. ON JANUARY 8, 2015 WHILE TRAVELING ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO RANDOMLY SPUTTER/JERK/HICCUP. THE VEHICLE DID NOT LOOSE POWER, OR WAS THERE ANY INDICATION FROM DASH BOARD ICONS OF ANY MALFUNCTION. THERE WAS NOT ANY VISIBLE WARNINGS SIGNS TO ALERT A FAULTY SYSTEM. THIS HAS OCCURRED PREVIOUSLY, WHILE TRAVELING THROUGHOUT THE CITY AT SPEEDS OF 25-45 MPH. DURING THE MOST RECENT INCIDENT, TRAVELING SPEEDS VARIED FROM 50-70 MPH ON THE EXPRESSWAY. THIS PARTICULAR INSTANCE I WAS DRIVING A 60 MILE TRIP AND THIS JERKING OCCURRED 7-10 TIMES. THE FIRST TIME THIS OCCURRED WAS PROBABLY 1.5 YEARS AGO. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A MECHANIC AFTER THE FIRST INSTANCE, WITHOUT ANYTHING BEING DETECTED OR A DIAGNOSIS. THE ISSUE IS PROGRESSIVELY WORSENING. IT IS BEGINNING TO HAPPEN MORE FREQUENTLY. LAST WEEK, OF THE 4 DAYS OF TRAVEL ON THE EXPRESSWAY, THE JERKING OCCURRED 3 OF THOSE DAYS. INITIALLY, I FELT, THIS WAS ASSOCIATED TO THE COLD AND WEATHER/TEMPERATURE, BUT THIS HAS ALSO OCCURRED IN WARMER MONTHS. THIS IS A DEFINITE SAFETY ISSUE, AS IT RELATES TO MYSELF, AND OTHERS TRAVELING IN MY VICINITY. *TR

I WOULD LIKE TO START A PETITION FOR AN INVESTIGATION ON THE REPLACEMENT PARTS BEING USED FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL AND THE SOFTWARE THEY USE TO RE-PROGRAM OR RE-LEARN THE COMPUTER IN THE VEHICLES THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED. THE REASON I AM REQUESTING THIS IS BECAUSE MY MOMS 2005 CHEVY COBALT WAS TAKEN IN FOR THIS RECALL REPLACEMENT AND WAS RUNNING FINE WHEN WE BROUGHT IT IN. GOT A CALL THAT THE CAR WAS READY TO BE PICKED UP 7 HOURS LATER. A COUPLE DAYS LATER I'M DRIVING THE CAR AROUND IT STARTED TO RUN TERRIBLE. THE CAR IDLED ERRATICALLY AND IT WOULD STALL EVERY TIME I STOPPED. NOW THE CAR STARTS AND DRIVES AWHILE BUT IF I SHUT IT OFF AND THEN START IT AGAIN THE ENGINE LIGHT STARTS BLINKING,IT BOGS DOWN AND HAVE NO POWER WHEN I ACCELERATE. I CAN SMELL GAS BUT THERE ARE NO LEAKS AND I ONLY SMELL THE GAS WHEN THE CAR STARTS TO DO THIS. I HAVE BEEN ON THE GM RECALL UPDATE WEBSITE AND HAVE READ ABOUT SIMILAR STORIES TO MINE SAYING THERE IS A DEFECT IN THE PARTS OR THERE'S A PROBLEM WITH THE RE-PROGRAMING. I THINK ONE OR BOTH OF THESE IS THE CAUSE OF MY PROBLEM. SO COULD YOU PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS ASAP BECAUSE IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD. THANK YOU

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WAS MADE AWARE THAT PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE AS A RESULT REPAIRS WERE UNABLE TO BE PERFORMED FOR THE RECALL. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISING AND CONTUSIONS TO THE FACE AND HANDS. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 93,000.
VEHICLE WAS PARKED INSIDE GARAGE, FILLING TIRES WITH AIR. A CIGARETTE LIGHTER POWERED AIR COMPRESSOR WAS BEING USED TO FILL TIRES. WAS ONLY IN USE FOR A FEW MINUTES, WHEN AIR COMPRESSOR STOPPED. THE FUSE FOR THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER WAS BLOWN. THIS WAS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE CAR. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE FUSE FOR THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER WOULD BE BLOWN FOR NO APPARENT REASON. I HAVE ONLY USED IT IN THE PAST TO USE MY OBD II SCANNER, BEING THAT THE OBD DIAGNOSTIC PORT IS POWERED BY THE SAME FUSE AS THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER. BESIDES USING THE OBD SCANNER, NO OTHER THINGS HAVE BEEN USED VIA THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER. REGARDLESS THE FUSE WOULD BE BLOWN. AFTER THE FUSE WAS BLOWN WITH THE AIR COMPRESSOR, I UNPLUGGED IT FROM THE CIGARETTE LIGHTER, ONLY TO SEE SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. THE FUSE MELTED IN THE FUSE BLOCK. FROM THERE, THE WINDOW WIPERS BEGAN OPERATING, AS WELL AS THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FLUID BEING SHOT OUT FROM THE NOZZLES. SMOKE BEGAN POURING FROM THE INSIDE OF THE CAR, FROM UNDER THE DASH. I QUICKLY RAN TO THE TRUNK WHERE THE BATTERY IS LOCATED, AND DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY AS SOON AS I COULD. GARAGE WAS FILLED WITH SMOKE, WITH THE OMINOUS BURNT ELECTRONIC SMELL. *TR

I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ONE MORNING IN DECEMBER AT APPROXIMATELY 55MPH. ALL OF A SUDDEN MY TACHOMETER WENT FROM ABOUT 2 TO 0 AND I WAS COASTING TO A STOP. I MADE IT TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE THE CAR THEN JUST TURNED OFF. 55MPH AND MY CAR JUST TURNED OFF!!! WHEN I WOULD TRY TO RESTART IT WOULD START, BUT THEN TURN OFF AGAIN WHEN I WOULD PUT IT IN GEAR. THE CAR HAD APPROXIMATELY 170,000 MILES, BUT ANYTIME I WOULD STOP AT A STOP LIGHT IT WOULD DIE. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE ANYTHING WRONG. I CONTACTED CHEVROLET, BUT THEY SAID THAT THERE WASN'T A RECALL TO BE ISSUED. I WAS ALWAYS AFRAID TO COME TO A COMPLETE STOP BECAUSE OF THE CAR TURNING OFF. I WAS ALSO IN THE PARKING LOT AT WORK AND WAS COMING AROUND THE CORNER TO PULL INTO A PARKING SPACE, THE CAR DIED AGAIN! MIND YOU THIS WAS THE SAME DAY THAT I WAS GOING 55MPH DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR DIED. IT TOOK 11 TRIES TO GET THE CAR TO STAY ON SO THAT I COULD GET IT TO A PARKING PLACE. ONCE I HAD IT IN A PARKING PLACE AND STOPPED, IT DIED AGAIN. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED IN AN ACCIDENT YOU PEACE OF CRAP CAR PEOPLE. *TR

MY CAR SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING OUT OF A PARKING LOT A COUPLE OF DAYS AGO. EVERYTHING SHUT DOWN. I COULDN'T EVEN BRAKE. I WAS ABLE TO PUT THE GEAR IN PARK AND RESTART IT JUST FINE. HOWEVER THIS IS THE FOURTH TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. THE LAST TIME BEING ON THE GEORGE WASHINGTON BRIDGE. THE VERY FIRST TIME WAS 2 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED THIS CAR. I ASSUMED IT WAS BECAUSE I WENT OVER A SPEED BUMP THAT WAS LARGER THAN NORMAL. THE SECOND TIME I WENT OVER A POTHOLE. THE THIRD TIME WAS ON THE HIGHWAY. SO I HAD A MECHANIC LOOK AT IT AND HE STATED THAT I COULD BE THE ALTERNATOR. THIS WAS ABOUT 2-3YRS AFTER PURCHASE. HOWEVER MY TIME WAS VERY LIMITED. I LIVE IN MD BUT I WORK IN NEW YORK SO I SPEND A LOT OF TIME THERE AND LEAVE MY CAR AT HOME. SO I HAVEN'T HAD A CHANCE TO GET IT FIXED. WITH THIS LAST INCIDENT I DECIDED TO SEARCH THE INTERNET AND IT TURNS OUT THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS ISSUE. I FOUND IT FUNNY THAT THERE WERE MANY OTHERS WITH THE SAME OR SIMILAR PROBLEM. I PUT IN A SEARCH FOR "COBALT SHUTTING OFF WHILE DRIVING" AND FOUND A COUPLE OF SITES DESCRIBING SIMILAR ISSUES. THIS LAST INCIDENT REMINDED ME OF HOW DANGEROUS THIS COULD BE. I HAD MY 4 YR OLD NIECE IN THE BACKSEAT AND THE EXIT OF THE PARKING LOT WAS ON A HILL. FEELING THE CAR ROLLING BACK AND NOT BEING ABLE TO BRAKE WOULD SURELY BE CONSIDERED A SAFETY ISSUE. ON A SIDE NOTE I DID HAVE MY CAR EXAMINED FOR THE RECALL I WAS GIVEN NOTICE ABOUT. THIS WAS COMPLETED LAST YEAR. NOTHING ABNORMAL WAS REPORTED.
