HAVE BEEN TOLD VARIOUS TIMES I NEED NEW STRUTS AND SHOCKS. I THINK THIS IS RIDICULOUS SEEING AS THOUGH I HAVE DO NOT HAVE MANY MILES ON MY CAR AND THE YEAR OF MY CAR. DEALERSHIPS HAVE TOLD ME THAT IT DOES NOT MAKE SENSE THAT A CAR A 2006 AND WITH LOW MILES ON IT SHOULD NEED SHOCKS AND STRUTS RIGHT NOW. I HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH THIS CAR SINCE I PAID IT OFF. WHEEL BARING, SHOCKS STRUTS, PROBLEMS GETTING KEY OUT OF IGNITION, HEADLIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS LEAKING WATER INTO IT, SLVE CYLINDER AND MASTER CYLINDER, FUEL PUMP. I WILL NEVER BUY A CHEVY AGAIN! *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH. THE DEALER WAS NOTIFIED, WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V073000 (STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSISTS SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE RECALL IN AUGUST 2010 WHEN THE VEHICLE HAD 58,494 MILES ON IT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR A SECOND TIME UNLESS THE CONTACT ASSISTS WITH THE EXPENSES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, WHO STATED THAT THEY WOULD NOT AUTHORIZE THE RECALL REPAIRS A SECOND TIME. THEY OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 58,494 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 64,326.
I WENT OUTSIDE AND STARTED MY CAR. AS I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE OFF, THE CAR WOULD NOT STEER. I LEARNED THAT THERE HAD BEEN A RECALL ON MY POWER STEERING. THE COBALT HAS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING, AND CAN ONLY BE FIXED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE PROBLEM WAS FIXED ON 4/16/2012. ON 2/26/2014, I WENT OUTSIDE TO START MY CAR. AGAIN, AS I ATTEMPTED TO PULL OFF, THE CAR WOULD NOT STEER. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, I LEARNED THAT THE ENTIRE STEERING COLUMN HAD GONE OUT. GM KNOWS THIS CAR IS DEFECTIVE, AND REFUSES TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THE PROBLEM. MY CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR 2 WEEKS, AND I AM GETTING THE RUN AROUND. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS OUT OF THIS CAR. I'VE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE IGNITION SWITCH, FUEL PROBLEMS, RATTLING NOISES, SHAKING, THE WINDOWS GOING OUT, AND THE STEERING SYSTEM. SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE. GM NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE. I MAKE REGULAR REPAIRS AND HAVE ROUTINE MAINTENANCE DONE ON MY CAR. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO CONTINUE TO SUFFER WITH THESE ISSUES THAT GM KNOW EXISTS. THIS VEHICLE IS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND WAS NOT BUILT RIGHT. THE MANUFACTURES KNEW FOR MANY YEARS THAT THE CHEVY COBALT 2006 WOULD HAVE A LEAKING GASOLINE SYSTEM, AND THEY KEPT THIS FAULTY DEFECT TO THEMSELVES FOR MANY YEARS BEFORE BRING THIS ISSUE TO THE CUSTOMER. I WAS DRIVING THE VEHICLE LEAKING GAS FOR A FEW YEARS UNIT THE CRACK WAS LARGE ENOUGH FOR ME TO SMELL IT, WHILE NOT DRIVING, THE IGNITION SWITCH; WITH THE KEY IN IT WHILE THE CAR WAS IN PARK HAS STARTED THE CAR ENGINE WITHOUT TURNING THE KEY. THE KEY WONT COME OUT OF THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE CAR HAS TURNED OFF ON ME ON THE FREEWAY MORE THAN 9 TIMES. THE CAR TURNED OFF ON ME GOING IN REVERSE, COULDN'T CONTROL THE BRAKE AND STEERING POWER TO MOVE OUT OF THE POLE . WHILE DRIVING IN THE FREEWAY I HAVE HAD TO QUICKLY REACT; PUTTING MY EMERGENCY LIGHTS ON AND PRAYING TO GOD A CAR DOESN'T HIT ME, WHILE WITH THE LEFT HAD SIDE IS QUICKLY WAVING AT THE VEHICLES COMING FROM BEHIND TO STOP. PLEASE HELP ME. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN AND IM TIRED OF BEING EXPOSED TO THE DANGERS OF THIS M DEFECTED LIFE THREATENING VEHICLE. WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING AND SLOW DOWN TO MAKE A TURN OR STOP AT A TRAFFIC SIGN, THE POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER. ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL ALL OF THE POWER STEERING IS ELECTRONIC, SO THERE IS NO WAY TO REPAIR IT OURSELVES. I HAVE DONE A LITTLE RESEARACH ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE SEVERAL ACTIVE RECALLS ON THIS CAR DUE TO POWER STEERING GOING OUT AND HAS CAUSED SEVERAL ACCIDENTS FOR OTHER PEOPLE. PLEASE ADVISE THE BEST SOLUTION. *JS

THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA RECALL CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, DELIVERY FUEL PUMP), BUT WAS ADVISED BY THE DEALER THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 90,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING FAILED, GIVING RESISTANCE WHEN ATTEMPTING TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 53,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 54,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
I WOULD HAVE FILED SOONER BUT WAS UNAWARE OF YOUR AGENCY AND ASSUMED THAT I SHOULD CONTACT MY LOCAL GM DEALERSHIP. 2 DAYS AFTER I BOUGHT MY 2006 CHEVY COBALT, THE KEYS REMAINED LOCKED IN THE IGNITION. I HAVE TO USE THE EMERGENCY KEY RELEASE BUTTON TO GET MY KEYS OUT. I REPORTED THIS TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME IN 2012 THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AND I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE MYSELF. I BOUGHT A COBALT BECAUSE IT WAS ECONOMICAL AND WE DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS. TO THIS DAY, WE USE THE EMERGENCY SWITCH TO RELEASE MY KEYS. 1 WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT MY COBALT, THE ENGINE AND ALL POWER WOULD DIE AND I WOULD HAVE TO RESTART THE CAR. THIS HAPPENED WHEN I WAS IDLING, GOING 25 MILES/HR AND UP TO 65 MILES/HR. I CALLED THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP WHO INFORMED ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING THEY COULD DO, UNLESS I WANTED TO PAY TO HAVE THE ISSUE FIXED. I EVEN HAD ANOTHER RECALL REPAIRED LAST YEAR AT THE CHEVY DEALERSHIP AND AGAIN ADDRESSED THE POWER FAILURE. THEY LOOKED FOR AN ISSUE, DID NOT FIND ONE AND LITERALLY MADE ME BELIEVE IT WAS "USER ERROR". MY CAR STILL SHUTS OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING, ALMOST ON A DAILY BASIS. I ADDRESSED THE SITUATION, I WAS IGNORED. I DID NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO EXPLORE THE ISSUE MORE THOROUGHLY, WE HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO DEAL WITH IT. I AM SENDING A SECOND MESSAGE TO YOU FOLLOWING THIS BECAUSE I AM OVER ON THE WORD COUNT. PLEASE LOOK FOR IT. *TR
I CALLED TWO LOCAL CHEVY DEALERSHIPS TODAY. ONE SAID THEY ARE WAITING ON INSTRUCTIONS FROM GM TO DECIDE HOW TO RESOLVE THE SITUATION. THE OTHER SAID THEIR SERVICE MANAGER IS OUT UNTIL WEDNESDAY AND ONLY THEN CAN THEY APPLY THROUGH GM FOR A LOANER CAR AND THAT PROCESS TAKES A FEW DAY. I HAVE WATCHED SOMEONE DIE IN A CAR CRASH AND I DIDN'T QUITE UNDERSTAND THE SEVERITY OF THIS ISSUE UNTIL I REALIZED THAT PEOPLE HAVE BEEN KILLED. AS A ONE CAR FAMILY, GETTING TO WORK SO THAT WE CAN KEEP OUR HEAD ABOVE WATER IS ALWAYS MY MAIN PRIORITY. GM IS NOT HELPING ME, I HAVE ALSO SENT THEM THE SAME INFORMATION I AM SENDING YOU. MY HUSBAND CANNOT DRIVE THIS CAR TO WORK UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS FIXED, IT IS NOT SAFE AND WE ARE FINANCIALLY SCREWED. I HAVE DRIVEN HUNDRED OF MY CLIENTS, ALL WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES IN MY COBALT. GM NOT ONLY KNOWINGLY PUT MY FAMILY'S LIVES AT RISK, THEY PUT THE LIVES OF HUNDREDS OF INDIVIDUALS WITH DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES AT RISK ALSO. IF YOU NEED A TEXT BOOK EXAMPLE OF THE IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE ON THE COBALT, BY ALL MEANS, COME GET MINE. IT WILL RELIABLY FAIL. *TR

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR INSPECTION AND WAS ADVISED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT PROVIDED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,242 UPDATED 08/28/12*LJ FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE TECHNICIAN FOUND THE FUEL TUBES AT THE PUMP LEAKING AS WELL. UPDATED 08/30/12

THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THE STEERING AND ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME HARD TO TURN. THE CONTACT HAD TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN NEUTRAL AND PUSH THE VEHICLE HOME. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 73,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED WITHOUT WARNING WHILE ATTEMPTING A TURN. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES FOR THE FAILURE WHERE THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE STEERING CAMSHAFT SENSOR WAS REPLACED, BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT CORRECTED. THE STEERING CONTINUED TO SEIZE SPORADICALLY WHEN THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED A TURN. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 41,923.
2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. CONSUMER STATES SEVERAL ISSUES WITH VEHICLE RELATED TO RECALLS *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED THERE WAS A SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE, FIVE SENSORS WERE BAD, THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL INJECTION SYSTEM. THE RPM'S JUMPED, WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL MODE, THE CRUISE CONTROL WOULD SHUT OFF FOR NO REASON. THE CONSUMER HAD A DIFFICULT TIME STARTING THE VEHICLE, AFTER SHE FILLED THE TANK, THE VEHICLE WOULD STEER TO THE LEFT, AND THERE WERE TIMES WHEN THE VEHICLE WOULD JUMP OUT OF GEAR. *JB
I JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR ON FEB.19,2012. WHEN MY DAD AND I WERE DRIVING IT THAT FIRST WEEK, WE OFTEN SMELLED GAS, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT STARTED AND AFTER WE GOT HOME AND TURNED IT OFF. I WAS SO EXCITED TO HAVE MY 1ST NEW (USED) CAR, I FORGOT TO LOOK INTO IT. MY FRIENDS KEPT MENTIONING THAT GAS SMELL ,ESPECIALLY WHEN THEY SAT IN THE BACK SEAT. SO MY FATHER LAID UNDERNEATH, PUT HIS HAND UNDER THE GAS PAN OVER THE FUEL PUMP AND IT WAS LEAKING GAS. WHEN WE LOOKED THIS UP ON THE INTERNET, IT SHOWED US THIS IS A NATIONAL RECALL PROBLEM FOR ALL 2006 AND 2007 COBALTS. I DO NOT WANT MY CAR TO BLOW UP WITH ME IN IT !! THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC AND THE MECHANIC CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AFTER A LEAK WAS DISCOVERED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS SIMILAR TO A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER :09V419000 ( FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) BUT THE CONTACT COULD NOT CONFIRM IF THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 80,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE ENGINE WAS RESTARTED AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO REPLACED THE BATTERY, CLEANED THE FUEL SYSTEM AND CHANGED THE SPARK PLUGS BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE KEY WOULD SPORADICALLY BECOME STUCK IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V047000(AIR BAGS , ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD EXPERIENCED THE SAME DEFECT LISTED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 85,000. *TR
HAD BEEN NOTICING A GAS SMELL FOR AWHILE BUT DIDN'T THINK MUCH OF IT UNTIL I WAS FAILED FOR INSPECTION THE OTHER DAY FOR A FUEL LEAK. THE DEALERSHIP WANTED 100 DOLLARS TO FIX IT AND ANYWHERE FROM 200 TO 1000 TO FIX IT THEY SAID SO I HAD MY MECHANIC FRIEND HELP ME DROP THE GAS TANK WHEN WE DISCOVERED GAS ON THE FUEL TANK TO FIND THAT ITS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL PUMP ON TOP OF THE GAS TANK. AFTER SOME RESEARCH I FOUND THAT THIS IS A PROBLEM THAT NUMEROUS COBALT OWNERS ARE HAVING AND ACTUALLY HAS BEEN RECALLED FOR ONLY CERTAIN VIN'S IN CERTAIN STATES. I DON'T SEE WHY THE RECALL WOULD NOT BE TO ALL CARS THAT GM PUT THE FAULTY FUEL PUMP IN. NOT ONLY IS THIS A VERY COSTLY FIX DUE TO THE AMOUNT OF LABOR INVOLVED IN GETTING TO THE FUEL PUMP BUT EVEN MORE SO IT IS A VERY SERIOUS SAFETY RISK AND I DON'T THINK THAT GM SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET AWAY WITHOUT HAVING TO HONOR A RECALL OF SORTS TO ALL CARS THEY PUT THIS FAULTY FUEL PUMP IN. *TR
VEHICLE WAS EXITING INTERSTATE 81, TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH. THOUGH BRAKING, THE CAR WAS NOT SLOWING PROPERLY AND THE STEERING WAS VERY HARD, POWER SEEMINGLY LOST. THE CAR COULD NOT BE STEERED AROUND THE LEFT HAND CURVE AND HIT A BRIDGE ABUTMENT AND SPUN AROUND BEFORE COMING TO REST WITH THE MOTOR NOT RUNNING. THIS APPARENT MECHANICAL FAILURE WAS NOTED IN THE POLICE REPORT OF THE ACCIDENT. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT LS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE PARKED IN A RESIDENTIAL DRIVEWAY, FUEL LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 109,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STARTED THE IGNITION AND ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL NUMEROUS TIMES, HOWEVER THERE WAS NO RESPONSE. A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING. IN ADDITION, THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON SEPARATE OCCASSIONS WHILE DRIVING AND WOULD RESET AFTER THE ENGINE WAS TURNED AND RESTARTED. ON FEBRUARY 17, 2011 THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER A RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 10V073000 (STEERING: ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM). THE CONTACT DID NOT EXPERIENCE A STEERING MALFUNCTION PRIOR TO THE RECALL REMEDY BEING PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MOST RECENT FAILURE. THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER OF THE INSUFFICIENT RECALL REPAIR. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 48,000.
I PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2006 CHEVY COBALT AND HAVEN'T HAD PROBLEMS UNTIL RECENTLY (2012). MY PROBLEM STARTED IN FEBRUARY 2012 WHEN HEADING TO A DOCTOR'S APPOINTMENT. STARTED THE CAR AND THE POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON. STARTED PULLING CAR OFF OF PARKING LOT WHERE I LIVE AND THE CAR HAD A JERKING/BUCKING SENSATION TO IT AND THEN SHUT OFF ON ME. HAD CAR TOWED TO CHEVY DEALER AND THE CAR WOULDN'T DUPLICATE THE SAME PROBLEM SO I GOT THE CAR BACK. 9 DAYS LATER I GO OUT AGAIN AND THE CAR STARTS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM - POWER STEERING LIGHT ON; JERKING SENSATION AND THE SPEEDOMETER DROPPED FROM 35 MPH TO 0. CAR WENT BACK TO CHEVY DEALERSHIP. AGAIN, CAR WOULD NOT DUPLICATE PROBLEMS. GOT CAR BACK & SINCE I HAVE BEEN SCARED TO DEATH TO HAVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE ROAD, IT HAS SAT FOR 2 MONTHS. AFTER GETTING GM INVOLVED, TRIED TO TAKE VEHICLE BACK TO DEALER AND ONCE AGAIN - POWER STEERING LIGHT ON; JERKING/BUCKING SENSATION; CLICKING IN GEAR CONSOLE. 3 TIMES NOW I HAVE HAD THIS CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND NOW THEY DECIDE IT'S THE BODY CONTROL MODULE (BCM), YET THEY INDICATED THAT ON MY FIRST TRIP, THAT A STORED CODE SHOWED THEM THE BCM WAS NOT COMMUNICATING. GETTING GM INVOLVED HAS BEEN A WASTE OF TIME BECAUSE NATURALLY SINCE THE WARRANT IS OFF OF THE CAR, THEY DON'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING TO SOAK UP THE COST OF REPLACING THIS MODULE WHICH IS GOING TO COST ME $685.00. *TR
I HAD RECEIVED A RECALL IN THE MAIL FOR MY CAR BACK IN 2010 FOR POWER STEERING. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM. SO I THOUGHT. A COUPLE OF TIMES AFTER THAT I HAD BEEN DRIVING AND THE CAR WOULD COMPLETELY SHUT OFF AND LOCK UP BUT BE FINE WHEN I TURNED IT BACK ON. THEN A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS DRIVING TO WORK WHEN MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON THEN MY STEERING WHEEL LOCKED UP AND IT WAS HARD TO TURN THE WHEEL I CAME VERY CLOSE TO WRECKING. I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME I NEED A NEW STEERING RACK. I HAD BEEN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND THERE IS AN AWFUL CRAZY AMOUNT OF COMPLAINTS OF THE SAME PROB. ONE LADY EVEN SAID HOW HER DAUGHTER HAD WRECKED OVER THIS PROBLEM. LOTS OF OTHER COMPLAINED OF GETTING THE PROBLEM FIXED TIME AND TIME AGAIN AND IT JUST KEEPS HAPPENING. THIS IS A MAJOR PROBLEM THAT SOMEONE IS GOING TO BE KILLED OVER AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. I ASKED MY DEALER SHOULDN'T THAT BE FIXED FOR RECALL SINCE IT HAS TO ALSO DO WITH MY POWER STEERING AND HE REPLIES WITH WE REPLACED IT BACK IN 2010. BUT THE PROBLEM IS THAT REPLACING THE POWER STEERING ONCE DOESN'T STOP THE PROBLEM FROM HAPPENING AGAIN! ALL THEY SAY IS IT IS IN THE WIRING ISSUE AND THINK WE SHOULD BUY SOMETHING ELSE. I DIDN'T KNOW ABOUT ALL THESE PROBLEMS TILL IT OCCURRED TO US. WE BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND HAVE LIKE THE 2006 COBALT BUT THIS IS THE FIRST I HAVE HEARD THEY HAVE A PROBLEM WITH THE POWERSTEERING OR WIRING TO THE ELECTRIC ASSIST TO THE POWER STEERING. I AM TOLD THEY HAD A FIX BACK IN 2010 ARE WE STILL QUALIFIED TO HAVE OUR CAR FIXED UNDER THAT RECALL. MY DOOR LOCKS WILL NOT ALWAYS WORK.... THE DOORS WILL JUST BE LOCKED WHETHER YOUR INSIDE OR OUTSIDE OF THE CAR. THE LOCKS SHOW THE DOORS ARE UNLOCKED BUT WHEN YOU PULL THE HANDLE IT FEELS AS IF IT ISN'T ATTACHED TO ANYTHING. AFTER PUNCHING THE DOOR AROUND THE HANDLE AREA THE DOOR SOMETIMES WILL THEN OPEN. UPON SEARCHING THIS ISSUE ON LINE IT SEEMS THERE ARE A LOT OF PEOPLE WITH THIS SAME ISSUE. I WAS LOCKED IN MY CAR FOR HOURS YESTERDAY UNTIL I FINALLY CLIMBED OUT THE WINDOW. MY 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT LT HAS STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH THE DRIVER DOOR SINCE 2 DAYS AGO. I HAD ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION AND WENT TO OPEN MY DRIVER DOOR TO EXIT AND I COULDN'T. THE DRIVER DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN AT ALL. I TRIED LOCKING AND UNLOCKING THE DOOR TO SEE IF IT WOULD OPEN AND NOTHING CHANGED. I WAS LOCKED IN MY CAR FOR TEN MINUETS TRYING TO GET OUT UNTIL I FINALLY HAD TO CRAWL OUT THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. WHEN TRYING TO GET BACK INTO THE CAR, THE SAME THING WAS HAPPENING TO WHERE I COULDN'T GET IN AND HAD TO ENTER FROM THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. RIGHT NOW MY DOOR IS WORKING NORMAL BUT AN HOUR AGO I COULDN'T GET IN AGAIN. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY RISK BECAUSE IF SOMEONE NEEDS TO EXIT THEIR CAR QUICKLY AND THIS IS HAPPENING, THERE IS NOTHING THAT THEY CAN DO TO GET OUT. MY CARS ENGINE HAS STALLED SEVERAL TIMES TODAY, IT IDLES LOW WHEN MOVING FROM A STOPPED POSITION LIKE AT A STOP LIGHT AND WHEN I GIVE IT GAS IT IDLES HIGH AND THEN WHEN I STOP OR SLOW DOWN IT STALLS IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING A MAJOR ACCIDENT. SMELLED FUEL IN GARAGE WHERE CAR IS KEPT AND ALSO INSIDE OF VEHICLE. TOOK TO LOCAL SHOP AND UPON PUTTING CAR ONTO THE LIFT, THEY SPOTTED FUEL DRIPPING FROM TOP OF GAS TANK. UPON TAKING TANK OFF AND INSPECTING FUEL PUMP, THERE WAS A VERY VISIBLE CRACK ON THE MRA. THE PORT WAS CRACKED AND FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THAT AREA. I HAVE KEPT THE FUEL PUMP. MY LOCAL SHOP REPLACED FUEL PUMP IN DECEMBER, BUT IT WAS NOT UNTIL LAST WEEK THAT MY MECHANIC CONTACTED ME AND STATED THAT THERE WAS A POSSIBLE RECALL. GM DENIED MY RECALL REQUEST. STATED MY VIN # DIDN'T HAVE THIS SPECIFIC RECALL ATTACHED & SINCE MY CAR WASN'T REGISTERED IN AZ OR NV I WAS ELIGIBLE FOR ANY REIMBURSEMENT. MY 2006 CHEVY COBALT HAD WHEEL BEARING ISSUES STARTING AT 40,000 MILES. AT 50,000 MILES MY FRONT END SUSPENSION (LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BUSHINGS), STRUTS, AND DOORS LOCKS STARTED ACTING UP. THE DEALER SAYS THAT IT JUST NEEDS GREASING; I HAVE TRIED EVERY GREASE UNDER THE SUN AND NONE HAS FIXED THE PROBLEM.
