THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL LINE WAS LEAKING. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 66,236.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES DURING RAINY WEATHER, THE VEHICLE WOULD BE SLOW TO RESPOND. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED BUT DENIED ANY ASSISTANCE WITH REPAIRS TO THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. IT WAS A SINGLE CAR CRASH WHICH HAPPENED AT NIGHT DURING A RAIN SHOWER. THEIR WERE NO WITNESSES, BUT THE CAR CROSSED THE OPPOSITE LANE OF TRAFFIC AND RAN INTO THE BACK END OF A LOWBOY TRAILER ( A TRAILER USED TO TRANSPORT HEAVY EQUIPMENT ) THE TWO 19 YEAR OLD GIRLS IN THE CAR WERE KILLED. NOTHING ABOUT THIS ACCIDENT MADE SENSE UNTIL I HEARD ABOUT THE IGNITION ISSUE WITH THE COBALT. THEIR ARE MANY REASONS THAT THE IGNITION COULD BE THE ROOT OF THIS ACCIDENT, AND IF IT CAN BE DETERMINED THAT THIS IS IN FACT TRUE I WOULD LIKE TO BE PART OF THE PROCESS THAT SEES THAT THOSE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE DECISION TO PUT PROFIT OVER SAFETY ARE PUNISHED. *TR
MY CAR SMELLED LIKE GASOLINE AND I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP BECAUSE UPON RESEARCH I REALIZED THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THIS CAR FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. AFTER THE ISSUE WAS DIAGNOSED TO BE A FUEL LEAKAGE, GM WAS CONTACTED BY ROSNER CHEVY AND I WAS ADVISED THAT THE REPAIRS TO MY CAR WOULD NOT BE PAID FOR BY GM. I CONTACTED GM AND I WAS TOLD MY CAR HAD TOO MANY MILES AND THEREFORE THEY WOULD NOT HONOR THE RECALL. I WAS FORCED TO PAY 578.36, IN ORDER TO GET MY CAR REPAIRED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING WOULD FAIL INTERMITTENTLY WITH THE ILLUMINATION OF THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT. THE CONTACT WOULD TURN THE VEHICLE OFF AND BACK ON FOR THE VEHICLE TO OPERATE NORMALLY. NEITHER THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. I PULLED INFORMATION ON A RECALL #: 09V419000 ON CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT AND SATURN ION AND 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT . . . FOR THE FOLLOWING STATES AZ, NV, CA, FL, TX. MD SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED BECAUSE I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. DEVELOPED A CRACK IN THE FUEL LINE, FUEL STARTED LEAKING FROM THAT AREA. *TR
VEHICLE HAS BEEN HAVING PROBLEMS WITH STEERING SINCE THE POWER STEERING ASSIST MOTOR WAS REPLACED PER THE RECALL. VEHICLE WAS SERVICED ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO BY A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKING UP, AND THE FRONT END WAS RATTLING. THE FOLLOWING PARTS WERE REPLACED: FRONT STABILIZER END LINKS, STEERING COLUMN, AND SERPENTINE BELT. THE STEERING HAS SINCE DEVELOPED A DELAYED RESPONSE AND REQUIRES FULL TURNS FROM CENTER TO END TO TURN RIGHT OR LEFT AROUND CORNERS. THE TURNING RADIUS HAS SIGNIFICANTLY DECLINED. THE CAR ALSO PULLS RIGHT OR LEFT WHEN BRAKING IF THE STEERING WHEEL IS OFF CENTER. THE RATTLING FROM THE FRONT END ALSO HAS RESURFACED AND IS BAD WHEN GOING OVER BUMPS. CURRENT MILEAGE IS 83,000. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 101,093 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 101,094.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 116,300 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
THE COLLISION WITH THIS VEHICLE INTO 2 TREES AT 45-50MPH FAILED TO DEPLOY THE 4 AIRBAGS. I FIRST HIT ONE TREE HEAD ON AFTER SKIDDING ON A ROAD AND LOSING CONTROL. THE SECONDARY COLLISION HAPPENED WITH THE 2ND TREE. *TR MY HEAD HIT THE DRIVER'S SIDE PILLAR AND I SUFFERED WHIPLASH. *TR

DRIVER WAS GOING DOWN INTERSTATE WAS INVOLVED IN A HIT IN RUN FROM BEHIND, DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF THE CAR AND CAR SPUN INTO THE WOODS HITTING SEVERAL TREES, AS WELL AS UPROOTED SEVERAL TREES . THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR AND THE BACK OF THE CAR EXPERIENCED DAMAGE FROM IMPACT, WITH ADDITIONAL FRONT FENDER IMPACT . DRIVER'S LEFT SIDE OF THE BODY WAS INJURED WITH BRUISING FROM THE IMPACT, AND WAS EVALUATED AT HOSPITAL AND PLACED ON MEDICAL PROFILE. *TR
GETTING GASOLINE SMELL, UPON INVESTIGATING FOUND THAT THE FUEL PUMP RETURN FITTING WAS LEAKING, THIS IS A PLASTIC FITTING ON THE PUMP HEAD AND CANNOT BE REPLACED WITHOUT REPLACING THE COMPLETE FUEL PUMP. CONTACTED DEALER (3) DIFFERENT DEALERS IN MY AREA AND WAS TOLD REPEATEDLY THAT EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS A RECALL ON SOME OF THE PUMPS MY PARTICULAR VIN NUMBER WAS NOT COVERED, HOWEVER THEY MIGHT CONSIDER A COST OFFSET BUT I WOULD HAVE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT AND IT WOULD BE A CHARGEABLE ESTIMATE.. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN, IF I DID NOT HAPPEN TO SMELL THE FUEL IT COULD HAVE BEEN A CATASTROPHIC EVENT. *TR
THE PLASTIC LINE IN THE FUEL ASSEMBLY IS CRACKED. MY CARE SMELLS OF GAS AND IS DRIPPING GAS. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS VERY PROBLEM ONLINE: OCTOBER 2009 -- GENERAL MOTORS IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2006 CHEVROLET COBALT AND SATURN ION VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF ARIZONA AND NEVADA; AND MODEL YEAR 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT, PONTIAC G5 AND SATURN ION VEHICLES ORIGINALLY SOLD IN OR CURRENTLY REGISTERED IN THE STATES OF ARIZONA, CALIFORNIA, FLORIDA, NEVADA AND TEXAS. THE PLASTIC SUPPLY OR RETURN PORT ON THE MODULAR RESERVOIR ASSEMBLY MAY CRACK. IF EITHER OF THESE PORTS DEVELOPS A CRACK, FUEL WILL LEAK FROM THE AREA. IF THE CRACK BECOMES LARGE ENOUGH, FUEL MAY BE OBSERVED DRIPPING ONTO THE GROUND AND VEHICLE PERFORMANCE MAY BE AFFECTED. FUEL LEAKAGE, IN THE PRESENCE OF AN IGNITION SOURCE, COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP MODULE FREE OF CHARGE. A NEW FUEL PUMP WAS INSTALLED TO REMEDY THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 78,000.
WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON. WHEN I SLOWED TO EXIT HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHIFT FUNNY AND HARD AND BECAME SCARRY. I THEN LEFT STOP SIGN AND MY CAR WAS SHIFTING HARD AND FELT LIKE IT WAS JUMPING ERATICLY. I WAS SCARED TO DRIVE AT TIMES AND IT CONTINUED FOR ABOUT AN HOUR THEN I PULLED INTO GET SOMETHING TO EAT AND CALL MY HUSBAND. AFTER EATING AND TELLING MY HUSBAND, I GOT BACK INTO CAR AND IT WAS FINE. NO MORE LIGHTS ON THE DASH SAYING SERVICE ENGINE SOON OR TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT. IT WAS FINE FOR THE REST OF MY WAY HOME. I WENT TO WORK NEXT DAY AND ALL WAS BACK AGAIN, LIGHT FOR SERVICE ENGINE CAME ON AND SO DID TRACTION CONTROL. THEN MY CAR STARTED JERKING AGAIN AND SHIFTING REAL HARD. NOW MY CAR DOES THIS AT LEAST 4 TIMES A WEEK. I HAD IT LOOKED AT AND THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING THEY SAID. IT HAPPENED AGAIN AND I TOOK IT IN AND THEY SAID IT WAS A FRONT RIGHT WHEEL BEARING SHOWING UP ON CODE BUT NOTHING ELSE. HAD THE BEARING FIXED AND IT STILL DOES IT. I SHOULD HAVE KNOWN THAT WASN'T ALL IT WAS CAUSE IT FEELS LIKE THE TRANS SLIPPING AND GRABBING. TO THIS DAY IT STILL DOES IT WITH EVERYONE TELLING ME THEY CAN'T FIND PROBLEM. *TT

FUEL LEAKING FROM REAR OF VEHICLE. A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT #09275A THAT ADDRESSES THIS PROBLEM NEEDS TO HAVE THE STATE OF VIRGINIA ADDED TO THE LIST. WE HAVE SEVERAL HUNDRED OF THESE CARS AND FEAR THIS MAY BE THE START OF A MAJOR ISSUE. *TR
I WAS ON MY WAY HOME, AND NOTICED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE FROM THE OUTSIDE OF MY VEHICLE. I INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS FROM PUTTING A COUPLE OF GALLONS OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE EARLIER, BUT THE SMELL PERSISTED INTO THE INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHILE DRIVING. WHEN I ARRIVED HOME, THE SMELL OF GASOLINE WAS STRONGER OUTSIDE. I LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE AND SAW THE PATH THAT THE GASOLINE HAS BEEN TRAVELING. I LET THE VEHICLE SIT IN THE DRIVEWAY UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO BRING IT TO THE DEALERSHIP, FOR THE FEAR OF IT CATCHING ON FIRE, OR EXPLODING WHILE DRIVING WITH MY TWO CHILDREN. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP BEING WORKED ON, AND WAS TOLD IT IS THE FUEL PUMP SYSTEM. IT HAS COME TO MY ATTENTION THAT I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE EXPERIENCING THIS, AND IT IS KNOWN ISSUE GM HAS HAD. I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY MY VEHICLE IS NOT A PART OF THE RECALL, IT IS NOT JUST. I DREAD THE BILL THAT I AM ABOUT TO FACE, DUE TO A KNOWN SAFETY ISSUE. AND I AM CERTAIN THE FUMES OF GASOLINE ISN'T HEALTHY FOR MY TWO CHILDREN, A 6 MONTH AND A 2 YEAR OLD. *TR

A BEEPING NOISE WOULD SOUND DURING THE FAILURE AND THE STEERING WARNING LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AN APPOINTMENT WAS SCHEDULED WITH AN AUTHORIZED DEALER TO ATTEMPT TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.

AFTER RESTARTING THE VEHICLE IT WOULD OPERATE NORMALLY. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS USING FUEL AT A VERY RAPID RATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL ASSOCIATED WITH NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP). THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,197.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND INFORMED HIM THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND OFFERED NO ADDITIONAL ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.

THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 125,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 127,000.

THE CONTACT PLANNED TO NOTIFY THE MANUFACTURER TO VERIFY WHETHER THE VEHICLE WAS ELIGIBLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY.
