TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 10 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNABLE TO RESTART. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE IGNITION AND THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO ANOTHER DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FEW DAYS AFTER THE REPAIRS WHILE DRIVING AT 55 MPH, THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE STEERING WHEEL WAS DIFFICULT TO TURN. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT VEERED TO THE LEFT INTO A DITCH. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LEFT TURNING SIGNAL DID NOT FUNCTION PROPERLY AND REMAINED ON AFTER TURNING. THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY PUSH THE LEVER TO STOP IT FROM FLICKERING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD FAIL TO SHIFT GEARS AND THE CHROME COVERING ON THE DOOR HANDLE HAD DETERIORATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL COLUMN NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DEALER INFORMED HIM THAT THE PARTS WERE NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 130,000.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHORTLY AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE UNDER THE RECALL, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE POWER STEERING, IN THIS 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT, STARTED FAILING INTERMITTENTLY AT LOW SPEEDS, PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE WHILE MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING, THOROUGHLY FRIGHTENING HER. WHEN I WAS AT THE DEALER FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL I ASKED THEM ABOUT IT AND WAS TOLD THAT SINCE THE POWER STEERING WAS REPLACED IN THE 2010 RECALL, (LESS THAN 4 YEARS AND ABOUT 46,000 MILES AGO) THAT THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE RECALL WAS CLOSED. AS YOU KNOW, A COMPONENT THIS CRITICAL TO THE OPERATION OF A VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE FAILING AT THESE FREQUENT RATES. THIS CONSTITUTES NOT ONLY A MAJOR EXPENSE TO REPAIR A PROBLEM WHICH SHOULDN'T BE OCCURRING IN THE FIRST PLACE, BUT A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE TO THE OPERATOR, PASSENGERS, AND OTHER MOTORISTS AND PEDESTRIANS AS WELL. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES AND I SUSPECT THAT THE REPLACEMENT PARTS USED WEREN'T ANY BETTER THAN THE ORIGINALS, AS EVIDENCED BY THIS FAILURE AND BASED ON THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT I HAVE SINCE READ ABOUT. A NEW RECALL HAS ALSO BEEN ISSUED FOR THE 2010 MODEL YEAR FOR THIS SAME ISSUE, YET, THIS MODEL YEAR WAS INCLUDED IN THE PRIOR RECALL. IT IS MY BELIEF THAT GENERAL MOTORS SHOULD STAND BEHIND WHAT IS AN OBVIOUS DESIGN FLAW ISSUE THAT HAS YET TO BE PERFECTED. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. *TR
I AM HAVING THE FUEL LEAK/HEAVY VAPOR SMELL ON THE KNOWN ISSUE WITH THIS TYPE MODEL CAR THAT IS REGISTERED IN AZ, CA, AND VARIOUS OTHER HOT CLIMATE STATES. IT IS KNOWN THAT THE FUEL PUMP SEAL CRACKS AND CAN CAUSE A FIRE IF SEVERE ENOUGH. I TOOK THIS INTO MIDWAY CHEVY IN HOPES THAT THEY WOULD REALIZE THE SAFETY ISSUE THIS KNOWN PROBLEM PRESENTS, HOWEVER I WAS INFORMED THAT IT IS MY PROBLEM TO DEAL WITH BECAUSE MY SPECIFIC VIN IS NOT COVERED IN THE LIMITED RECALL WITH THE FUEL PUMP. GM NEEDS TO GET THEIR ACT TOGETHER AND ISSUE A REGIONAL RECALL AND I HOPE THAT A SERIOUS INCIDENT DOES NOT HAVE TO OCCUR BEFORE THE REALIZE THE NEED TO TAKE CARE OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR

WHILE DRIVING ALONG, GETTING OFF OF AN EXIT RAMP ONTO A MAIN HWY, I REACHED OVER TO TURN MY DEFROSTER OFF, WHEN THE WHEEL JERKED TO THE LEFT, I ATTEMPTED TO GAIN CONTROL BUT NEVER GOT TOTAL CONTROL ALTHOUGH I DID GET BACK ONTO THE ROAD. A FEW SECONDS LATER THE CAR JERKED AGAIN AND THIS TIME I REALIZED THE STEERING WHEEL WAS NOT MOVING-IT WAS LOCKED UP AND I COULD NOT TURN IT. I THEN HIT THE GUARD RAIL ON THE NORTH SIDE OF THE HWY AND THEN CAME ACROSS TO THE SOUTH SIDE HITTING THE CONCRETE BRIDGE RAILING. THE IGNITION SWITCH RECALL HAD SUPPOSEDLY BEEN CORRECTED BUT THE IGNITION LOCKED UP ON THIS VEHICLE. *TR
I TAKE THE CAR TO CAMINO REAL CHEVROLET TO DO THE RECALL FOR IGNITION KEY ON 6/9/2014, I GET BACK MY CAR ON THE SAME DAY AND GO HOME. I FEEL THAT THERE IS SOME PROBLEM ON CONTROL OF SPEED. ON 6/11/2014, I WENT OUT WITH THE CAR FOR A FEW MILE, THE CAR BEGAN LOST POWER AND SLOW DOWN. SO I CALLED AAA TO TOW MY CAR BACK TO THE DEALER FOR INVESTIGATE, THEY ASK ME FOR A CHECKING FEE OF $300 AND TOLD ME THAT THEY HAVE CHANGED THE PART, IT WILL BE OTHER PROBLEM. SO I SEARCHED THE INTERNET THERE IS MORE RECALL ON THAT MODEL ON THE FUEL PUMP AND OTHER, BUT THEY REFUSE TO REPLACE FOR ME. SO I CALLED GM, THEY SAID THERE IS NO RECALL ON MY CAR, I DON'T KNOW WHY? INFORMATION I SEARCHED FROM THE INTERNET SAID THAT THE WRONG COMPUTER PROGRAM, CONNECTION, CODED KEYS ANTI-THEFT FUNCTION WILL AFFECT THE CAR FROM STARTING. THEY NEVER CHECK THAT AND TOLD ME TO PAID FOR CHANGING THE FUEL PUMP. WHAT SHOULD I DO? I HAVE NO CAR TO USE OVER ONE WEEK. *TR

I WAS DRIVING, AND THIS ISN'T THE FIRST TIME THAT THIS HAS OCCURRED, AND I WILL GET A NOTIFICATION ON MY DASH FOR THE POWER STEERING, THE CAR WILL REMAIN POWERED. THE GAUGES(SPEEDOMETER FUEL AND RPM) WILL ALL GO DOWN TO ZERO, AND VEHICLE WILL BE VERY HARD TO STEER. I DO HAVE TO STOP MY CAR, AND LET IT SIT FOR ABOUT 30 SECONDS TO CONTINUE DRIVING. I'VE BEEN REALLY UPSET WITH THE RECALLS OVER THE YEARS ALWAYS THOUGHT CHEVYS WERE THE BEST NOW I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR WEEKS ON THE IGNITION SWITCH PARTS AND THIS HAPPENS NEED TO NO IF THIS IS ANOTHER RECALL SITUATION IM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR BUT HAVE NO CHOICE. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING HOME ON THE HIGHWAY DURING RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC WHEN THE TEMP LIGHT CAME ON SHOWING 240 DEGREES AND THE FAN KICKED ON AND THE LIGHT WENT OFF. THE TEMP LIGHT CAME BACK ON AT 304 DEGREES AND THE CAR DIED WHILE IN MOTION. WITHOUT SPENDING ALOT OF MONEY TO FIND SPECIFICS, THE MECHANIC IS UNSURE WHY THE COOLING SYSTEM FAILED CURRENTLY LOOKING AT THE POSSIBILITY OF HAVING TO REPLACE THE ENGINE IN ITS ENTIRETY. *TR
RECEIVED ORIGINAL NOTIFICATION OF CHEVROLET RECALL SEVERAL MONTHS AGO, SCHEDULED FOR REPAIR, AND TOOK VEHICLE IN TO HAVE RECALL PERFORMED AND ADVISED THEY COULD NOT DO IT. HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL NOTIFICATIONS THAT CORRECT I THE REPAIR HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED AND HAVE SCHEDULED THE VEHICLE 2 MORE TIMES FOR REPAIR TO BE TOLD THEY DO NOT HAVE PARTS. CONTACT WITH CHEVROLET HAS BEEN LEES THAN COOPERATIVE. TOTAL OF 3 TIMES THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO PERFORM THE REQUIRED RECALL REPAIRS. THE RECALLS NUMBERS ARE FOR 13454 IGNITION SWITCH, 14113 IGNITION LOCK CYLINDER AND KEY. IT APPEARS FROM THE STAFF OF LOCAL FACILITY THAT NO VEHICLES ON LIST HAVE BEEN REPAIRED YET NOR DO THEY HAVE ANY KNOWLEDGE OF WHEN THIS WILL BE CORRECTED. IT IS OF MY OPINION THAT GM IS PLAYING A GAME TO RELIEVE THEMSELVES OF LIABILITY BY SENDING NOTIFICATION TO SCHEDULE YOUR REPAIR BUT UNABLE TO PROVIDE THE SUPPORT TO CORRECT THE ISSUE. *TR

ADDITIONALLY, THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE VEHICLE WOULD HESITATE TO START AFTER REFUELING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. ELECTRICAL SHORT IN THE RIGHT FRONT SEAT BELT RETRACTOR IN WHICH DISABLES THE AIR BAG SYSTEM BECAUSE OF THE FAULT. THIS DIAGNOSIS WAS VERIFIED BY BERGSTROM CHEVROLET IN APPLETON, WISCONSIN. AFTER NUMEROUS CONTACTS WITH GM AND BERGSTROM CHEVROLET, THEY DECIDED NOT TO COVER THE COST BECAUSE OF EXPIRED WARRANTY. *TR
I HAD MY IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED BY A GM DEALER, NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON. I NOTICED ON THE IGNITION RECALL IT MENTIONED THE AIRBAG. SO I'M WONDERING IF THIS AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON DUE TO SOMETHING WITH THE SWITCH REPLACEMENT. *TR
MY SPEAKERS ON THE FRONT OF THE CAR GO ON AND OFF AS WELL AS MY INSIDE TURN SIGNALS. NOW IT HAS PROGRESSED TO THE CHECK AIR BAG INDICATOR GOING ON AND OFF WHILE STARTING AND DURING DRIVING. I HAVE INFORMED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS SEVERAL ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. THE AIRBAG PORTION OF IT SCARES ME AS I AM ONLY 5 FT TALL AND SIT CLOSE TO THE WHEEL. I DON'T WANT TO FORK OVER MORE MONEY THAN THE CAR IS WORTH ESPECIALLY SINCE I KNOW THERE ARE SEVERAL COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME PROBLEM. WHY NOT HAVE A RECALL ON AT LEAST THE AIRBAG PART OF THE PROBLEM. *TR
I HAVE TO DRIVE THE CAR TO WORK EVERYDAY AROUND 50 MILES EVERYDAY. I HAVE HAD ALL THIS WORK DONE THE THE CAR I HAVE TRIED TO GET GENERAL MOTORS TO HELP WITH THE PROBLEM WHICH AFTER ALL THIS WORK THE CAR SHAKES AND MAKES VERY LOUD NOISES ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I CALLED A GENERAL MOTORS HELPER LAST WEEK WHO WAS SUPPOSED TO GET ME SOME INFORMATION AND HAVE NOT BEEN CONTACTED BACK YET. REPLACED ALL OF THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS SINCE PURCHASE: BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS DUE TO BUSHING FAILURES; BOTH FRONT SHOCK AND STRUT ASSEMBLIES DUE TO SHOCK FAILURES/LEAKS; BOTH SWAY BAR LINKS DUE TO FAILED COMPONENTS; BOTH FRONT SWAY BAR BUSHINGS DUE TO DRY-ROT; BOTH FRONT ROTORS DUE TO FAILED/WARPED COMPONENTS CAUSED BY DEFECTIVE BRAKE CALIPERS; HARMONIC BALANCER DUE TO DEFECTIVE/WEAK COMPONENT; BOTH REAR SHOCKS DUE TO FAILURES/LEAKS. STILL NEED TO REPLACE REAR COIL SPRINGS DUE TO WEAKNESS, ALL WHEEL HUB BEARINGS DUE TO UNSTABLE DRIVING/STEERING AND THE VEHICLE SPEED SENSOR CAUSING HIGH IDLE AND ERRATIC IDLING AFTER WARM-UP.

I OWN A 2007 CHEVY COBALT INCLUDED IN THE NATIONWIDE RECALL. I HAVE BEEN TRYING FOR MONTHS TO HAVE THIS CAR' IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE RECALL, HOWEVER BOTH CHEVY AND THE LOCAL DEALER, ED MORSE CHEVROLET HAVE BEEN UNCOOPERATIVE IN REPLACING THE IGNITION SWITCH, PROVIDING A DATE THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE OR PROVIDE A LOANER VEHICLE. I HAVE CALLED AND SPOKE WITH BOTH GM AND ED MORSE NUMEROUS TIMES, HOWEVER EACH TIME MET WITH THE SAME OLD, STOCK ANSWER - THAT IT'S "OK TO DRIVE AS LONG AS ALL OTHER KEYS/FOBS ARE REMOVED". THIS ANSWER IS NOT SUFFICIENT FOR ME NOR WILL I ACCEPT DRIVING THE CAR "AS SAFE". THE CAR, OVER THE YEARS WAS DRIVEN WITH UP TO 15 KEYS ON THE RING, SO WHATEVER DAMAGE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH OCCURRED, IS STILL PRESENT AND POSES RISK AT CURRENT. I AM ASKING YOUR AGENCY TO INTERVENE IN THIS MATTER. I HAVE PUT EXCESS MILES AND WEAR AND TEAR ON MY PRIMARY CAR AND WILL INCUR AN ADDITIONAL FINANCIAL BURDEN SINCE THIS 2007 COBALT IS SITTING IDLE. I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 35MP AND IT FELT LIKE MY RIGHT REAR BRAKES WAS STICKING LIKE THEY WHERE STUCK, THEN I WAS DRIVING AND IT THE CAR DIDN'T WANT TO MOVE I PUSH ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR WITH THE GAS PEDAL AND IT STILL WOULDN'T MOVE, SO I PUT IT BACK INTO PARK , TRY AGAIN THE IT WENT IN REVERSE.BUT IT MOVED REALLY SLOW, THE KEY WOULDN'T TURN MOST OF THE TIME HAD TO KEEP TURNING IT ALSO TOOK CAR TO DEALER TO HAVE KEY IGNITION FIX SAID THEY DON'T KNOW HOW LONG IT WOULD TAKE TO FIX, THEN I GET ON INTERNET AND SEE THERE ARE UP TO SIX RECALLS ON THIS CAR BUT HOW DO I FIND OUT IF I CAN HAVE THEM FIX THEM TOO. CAR WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP DUE TO A RECALL. DAY AFTER I PICK IT UP FROM THERE I WAS NOT ABLE TO PULL IT FROM A PARKING LOT (POWER STEER LIGHT WAS ON) . I CONTACTED GM AND THEY ASKED ME TO CALL THE DEALER. DEALER PROMISED ME THAT THEY WILL CALL ME BACK, THEY ALSO SAID THAT MY CAR HAD SIMILAR ISSUE IN MAY 2010, BUT GM ONLY ASKED FOR SPECIFIC PART TO BE REPLACED AT THIS TIME (LAST RECALL) AND THIS IS THE WORK THAT THEY DID. I CALLED THEM A FEW TIMES AND NO ANSWER. ON 5/3 CONTACTED GM AND I WAS TOLD THAT A CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE MANAGER WILL TAKE CARE OF MY CAR, SO I SHOULD WAIT 24HRS FOR A PHONE CALL. I KEPT CALLING GM BECAUSE NO ONE CALLED ME BACK, LEFT MESSAGE ON 5/9, 5/16 (NO ANSWER). A PHONE CALL WAS MISSING FROM THEM ON 5/9, I CALLED BACK WITH NO ANSWER... CALLED THEM YESTERDAY AGAIN AND EXPLAINED MY CONCERN DRIVING A CAR THAT SOMETIME IS HARD TO HANDLE AND MAKE TURNS AND AT THE SAME TIME I SMELL GAS INSIDE WHILE DRIVING, I ALSO SAID THAT I DO NOT WANT TO PUT MY 11 YEARS OLD IN RISK......, I WAS TOLD THAT MY CASE IS NOW WITH A HIGHER MANAGER AND THEY WILL CONTACT ME SOON.
