TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED WAS CURRENTLY UNAVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT EXPERIENCED THE FAILURE.
I HAVE CALLED MY LOCAL DEAL ABOUT A MONTH AGO TO HAVE THIS PART REPLACED. TURNS OUT THEY DON'T ORDER THE PART UNTIL YOU CALL. REGARDLESS I HAVE BEEN WAITING A MONTHAND THERE IS NO INDICATION WHEN THE PART WILL BE AVAILABLE. I AM CURRENTLY DRIVING ABOUT 30 MILES A DAY TO WORK ON HIGHWAYS AND EXPRESSWAYS I AM A NERVOUS WRECK ABOUT THIS PROBLEM I FEAR THE PART MIGHT FALL OUT WHILE I'M ON ONE OF THESE ROADWAYS AND I'LL HAVE AN ACCIDENT. I AM FOLLOWING THEIR INSTRUCTION REGARDING THE KEY BUT I STILL DON'T FEEL SAFE. DON'T YOU THINK GM SHOULD BE GIVING US LOANER CARS TO DRIVE UNTIL THEY ARE ABLE TO CORRECT THIS PROBLEM? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT SMELLED FUEL INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 96,000.
I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY SON AND MY CAR DIED DUE TO THE IGNITION SWITCH, LUCKILY IT WAS IN THE EARLY MORNING AND THERE WAS NOBODY AROUND. I HAVE A STANDARD VEHICLE SO I JUST SHIFTED DOWN AND COASTED. I PULLED OFF TO THE SHOULDER AND PUT MY EMERGENCY BRAKES. I IMMEDIATELY TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A GM DEALERSHIP AND GOT THE PROBLEM TAKEN CARE OF. WITHIN A MONTH OF GETTING MY VEHICLE BACK, I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WITH MY SON AND THE BRAKES DISINTEGRATED AND TOTALLY FAILED ON ME. I FORTUNATELY KNEW HOW TO HANDLE MY CAR IN A SITUATION SUCH AS THIS BUT I HAD TO GET IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP I PURCHASED IT FROM. I EXPRESSED MY EXTREME CONCERNS FOR SAFETY AND HOW I NEEDED TO GET INTO A SAFER VEHICLE. I HAVE NOT BEEN HELPED AND I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR A MONTH. I NEED HELP TO GET INTO A SAFER VEHICLE FOR MYSELF AND MY SON. *TR

THE CAR HAD THE FUEL MODULE AND TANK REPLACED IN OCTOBER 2012 THEY SAID IT WAS NOT A RECALL AND COVERED IT UNDER MY POWERTRAIN 3 DAYS BEFORE IT WENT OUT. I JUST GOT THE CAR BACK FROM THE IGNITION RECALL AND THE AIR BAG ON PASSENGER DOESN'T WORK THEY CLAIM ITS SOMETHING DIFFERENT, THE GAS IS DRAINING FROM THE CAR AGAIN, IT SMELLS LIKE GAS. I AM ASSUMING THAT THE FUEL LINE AGAIN HAS BROKE, AND THE FUEL MODULE AND TANK WILL BE SOON BEHIND IT. LAST TIME THEY TOLD ME THE CAR HAD THE POTENTIAL TO BLOW UP.THE DOOR ELECTRICAL SWITCHES GO ON AND OFF BY THEMSELVES.THE TURN SIGNALS WORK WHEN THEY WANT TO TOO. *JS
THE CHEVY COBALT RECALL DOES NOT FIX THE KILL SWITCH PROBLEM. I JUST GOT THIS CAR BACK TODAY. I ATTACHED A SMALL WALLET THAT HOLDS ONLY MY LICENSE AND BANK CARD IN IT AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT STILL GOES ON AND OFF. HENCE THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT IT DID BEFORE IT WAS REPLACED. I DIDN'T HAVE THIS PROBLEM WITH THE SAME WALLET ATTACHED IN MY CHEVY RENTAL CAR. THIS CAR IS NOT CORRECTED. IT IS STILL A DEATH TRAP. IF YOU ONLY LEAVE THE KEY IN THE IGNITION THE AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS OFF EXACTLY WHAT THEY SAID TO DO BEFORE IT WAS CHANGED. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 148,000.

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 40 MPH THE DAY AFTER THE RECALL SERVICE WAS PERFORMED WHEN THE INSTRUMENT PANEL SUDDENLY DISPLAYED A "LOST POWER STEERING' WARNING MESSAGE FOLLOWED BY THE POWER STEERING ASSIST INDEPENDENTLY DISABLING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT DECLINED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AT THEIR EXPENSE A SECOND TIME. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 151,430.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN MARCH AND WAS INFORMED BY THE DEALER THAT THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE ON APRIL 8. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURER OF THE PROBLEM AND WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO TIME FRAME REGARDING PART AVAILABILITY. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
IGNITION INSTABILITY. AFTER A NEW BATTERY, TWO NEW STARTERS, NEW ELECTRICAL FUSE BOX I AM STILL HAVING TROUBLE STARTING MY CAR. IT SOMETIMES STARTS AND SOMETIMES IT WON'T START. IT SOMETIMES SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN I TRY TO START IT. I TURN IT OFF WAIT A FEW MINUTES AND THEN IT WILL START BUT THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. THE CAR HAS HAD 3 DIAGNOSTICS AND BEEN IN THE GARAGE 4 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG. I HAVE ONLY OWNED IT FOR 10 MONTHS. IT HAS LEFT ME STRANDED NUMEROUS TIMES AND CONTINUES TO EVEN AFTER ALL THE MONEY I CONTINUE TO PUT INTO IT. I REALLY DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING IT SINCE THE RECALL IN REGARDS TO THE IGNITION ISSUE. EVEN BEFORE THE RECALL I FELT THAT THE IGNITION SWITCH FELT LOOSE. THE PROBLEMS I AM HAVING ALL TRACK BACK TO THE IGNITION. IT HAS FRIED TWO STARTERS AND A FUSE BOX. I WOULD LIKE A LONER CAR.

SEAT BELT ICON AND LIGHT GO OFF AND ON PANEL ON DRIVERS SIDE. CANNOT TELL IF THIS IS JUST AN ELECTRICAL PROBLEM OR SOMETHING SERIOUS. NO ONE SEEMS TO WANT TO CHECK IT OUT. ONE REPAIR SHOP SAID THAT THE AIR BAG WILL NOT EMPLOY IF IN ACCIDENT. *TR
RECEIVED NOTICE OF RECALL. TOOK MY CAR TO DEALERSHIP SERVICE CENTER. STILL HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING IN REGARDS TO THE PART BEING AVAILABLE. I TOOK EVERYTHING OFF THE KEYRING AS SUGGESTED. SINCE THEN I HAVE LOCKED MYSELF OUT OF MY HOME AND CAR. THIS HAS BEEN A TERRIBLE INCONVENIENCE FOR ME. IT IS EASIER WHEN MY KEYS ARE TOGETHER FOR SURE! I AM A PATIENT PERSON BUT FOR GOODNESS SAKES! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE VEHICLE STARTED GOING IN REVERSE INDEPENDENTLY. THE SECOND TIME IT HAD AN OPPOSITE EFFECT. THE CONTACT WAS IN REVERSE AND THE VEHICLE WENT FORWARD. THE CONTACT SLIGHTLY CRASHED THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE INTO THE CURB BUT DID NOT SUSTAIN ANY INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. SUBMISSION FROM CONSTITUENT RE 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED HE WAS UNAWARE OF THE POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS, THREATENING SITUATION, WHICH COULD HAVE RESULTED IN A FATALITY, AND/OR INJURY. THE CONSUMER STATED THESE VEHICLES SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM THE ROAD, AND WARN AFFECTED DRIVERS NOT TO DRIVE THE VEHICLES AT ALL. THE CONSUMER NO LONGER FEELS SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE, AND IS REQUESTING A LOANER VEHICLE OR COMPENSATION TO RENT A VEHICLE, UNTIL GM RESOLVES THE MATTER COMPLETELY. *JB

THE CONSUMER DID NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. ALSO, THE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO A LEAK CAUSED BY A DEFECTIVE SEAL, THAT WAS RECALLED. THE CONSUMER HAD THE SEAL REPLACED, PRIOR TO THE RECALL. HOWEVER SHE WAS DENIED REIMBURSEMENT, BECAUSE THE WORK WAS NOT PERFORMED AT A GM DEALERSHIP. THE BLOWER MOTOR WAS REPLACED MULTIPLE TIMES, DUE TO IT CAUSING A LEAK ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. *JB
TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN, I AM A 76 YEAR OLD WOMAN WHO HAS CONTACTED MY LOCAL GM DEALERS IN HOPES OF RESOLVING THE IGNITION RECALL FOR MY CHEVY COBALT AND HAVE BEEN UNSUCCESSFUL. TODAY I SPENT OVER AN HOUR ON THE TELEPHONE WITH GM AND SPEAKING TO A MANAGER BY THE NAME OF JAY WHO GAVE ME THE RUN AROUND TO LET ME KNOW THAT THE PART IS NOT AVAILABLE AND DOES NOT KNOW WHEN IT WILL BE MADE TO MEET THE DEMAND OF THE CONSUMERS NEEDS. I WOULD LIKE A DEFINED ANSWER AS TO WHEN THIS PART WILL BE AVAILABLE TO ME AND ALL OTHERS.I WAS BAFFLED WHEN HE TOLD ME THAT GM DOES NOT PROVIDE ME AN EMAIL ADDRESS FOR CUSTOMERS TO COMMUNICATE DIRECTLY TO HIM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO STATED THAT THEY WERE MAKING ONLY A LIMITED AMOUNT OF PARTS AVAILABLE AND COULD NOT PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED AMOUNT OF TIME OF WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE. I AM THE OWNER OF A 2007 CHEVY COBALT. I WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DANGEROUS AND DEADLY IGNITION SWITCH RECALL UNTIL 3/28/14 WHEN I MOTHER TOLD ME OF IT. I IMMEDIATELY PHONED GM AND THE RESPONSE AFTER GIVING THE REP MY VIN WAS I'M NOT SURE WHAT TO TELL YOU BUT YES THERE IS A RECALL. I ASKED IF SHE WAS ABLE TO SHOW MY CAR WAS PART OF THE RECALL WHY I WASN'T NOTIFIED IN THE MAIL. I INDICATED THAT THE CAR IS REGISTERED AND INSURED UNDER MY NAME ONLY AND THAT I HAVE PRESENTLY BEEN LIVING AT THE SAME ADDRESS FOR 7 YEARS. I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR ALMOST TWO YEARS. SHE WAS NOT ABLE TO GIVE ME AN ANSWER. I AM COMPLETELY APPALLED AS A CHEVY OWNER AS I HAVE ALWAYS TOLD PEOPLE CHEVY'S WERE A GREAT CAR TO OWN. ON MARCH 27, 2014, MY WIFE WAS IN AN ACCIDENT AT AN INTERSECTION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE 2007 CHEVROLET - COBALT RECEIVED MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. LUCKILY, MY WIFE WAS NOT INJURED BUT COULD HAVE BEEN FATALITY #14 OR #304 DEPENDING ON THE REPORT YOU READ REGARDING THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT FAILURES AND IGNITION PROBLEMS OF THE COBALT. THE INSURANCE "TOTALED" THE CAR. I WANT TO FILE THE POLICE REPORT, INSURANCE REPORT AND PHOTOS TO THE N.H.T.S.A.. SAFETY DEVICES PLACED IN VEHICLES SHOULD WORK OR DON'T ADVERTISE SAFETY OF THE VEHICLE AND CHARGE THE CONSUMER FOR PRODUCTS THAT DON'T WORK. PLEASE EMAIL ME YOUR CLAIMS DEPARTMENT ADDRESS. THANK YOU.

IT'S VERY DISTURBING TO RECEIVE A SAFETY RECALL NOTICE IN THE MAIL. IT'S EVEN MORE DISTURBING TO BE ADVISED THAT YOUR CAR CANNOT BE REPAIRED ASAP BECAUSE "PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE." REALLY? IT'S COME TO LIGHT THIS WAS KNOWN AS FAR BACK AS 2001 AND PARTS ARE NOT CURRENTLY AVAILABLE??!! FIRST THE BATTERY DIED IN THE CAR. AFTER THAT THE CAR FELL APART. THE KEYS BECAME LODGED IN THE IGNITION AND WOULD NOT COME OUT. THE STEREO LOST ALL AND COMPLETE POWER. FUSES WERE CHECKED FOR THE RADIO NONE WERE BLOWN. AS A RESULT OF THE KEYS BEING STUCK IN THE IGNITION, IT DRAINED POWER FROM THE BATTERY AND I HAD TO TURN THE INTERIOR OVERHEAD LIGHT TO ON AND THE CAR WOULD THEN REGAIN POWER AND START. ALL EXCEPT THE RADIO. THE RECALL FOR THE IGNITION CYLINDER WAS ANNOUNCED AND I HAD THE CAR SERVICED AT A GM DEALER. AFTER THE REPAIR OF THE IGNITION CYLINDER THE KEYS STILL WERE LODGED IN THE IGNITION SWITCH. I WAS TOLD THE SWITCH LEVER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. HOW COULD A DEAD BATTERY CAUSE ALL OF THIS AT ONCE. THE RADIO AND ELECTRICAL ISSUES HAPPENED DIRECTLY AFTER THE BATTERY DIED AND NEVER RETURNED BACK TO NORMAL EVEN AFTER PURCHASING A BRAND NEW BATTERY. *TR
