TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA RECALL NUMBER: 10V073000 ( STEERING:ELECTRIC POWER ASSIST SYSTEM) AND TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS IN SEPTEMBER 2010. SHORTLY AFTER THE RECALL WAS PERFORMED, THE CONTACT STARTED HAVING ELECTRICAL ISSUES INTERMITTENTLY. WHEN THE ELECTRICAL FAILURE OCCURRED SHE NOTICED THAT THE POWER STEERING WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL, THE RADIO WOULD SHUT ON AND OFF, A PICTURE OF A LOCK SYMBOL WOULD ILLUMINATE ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE WOULD FLASH ON AND OFF, INCLUDING THE EXTERIOR LIGHTS. ONCE THE VEHICLE WAS POWERED OFF AND THEN ON IT WOULD RESET ITSELF AND PERFORM AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER DID NOT OFFER ANY ASSISTANCE. NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 137,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 83,000.
POWER STEERING, ALL ELECTRICAL, GAUGES, AND LIGHTS WOULD FLASH , STEERING COVERED UNDER RECALL, BUT HAVE NOW HAD A FEW ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS SINCE. *TR
FRONT END NOISE WHEN HITTING ANY SMALL BUMP. DEALER SAYS FRONT END BUSHINGS NEED REPLACEMENT. CAR IS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. CAR HAS 45,00 KM AND IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. CAR WAS DRIVEN BY A WOMAN AND SHE DIDN'T NOTICE THE FRONT END NOISE. THIS CAR HAS BEEN LIKE THIS FOR A WHILE AS THE FRONT TIRES ARE WORN OUT. I AM CURRENTLY HAVING CAR ISSUES AND STARTED DOING SOME RESEARCH. I RAN ACROSS THE RECALL FOR MY VEHICLE AND NOTICED THE DATES. I DIDN'T RECEIVE A LETTER FOR A FUEL PUMP RECALL BUT I DID HAVE THE SAME ISSUE ON THE RECALL (CRACKED FUEL PUMP). I DID GET IT FIXED AT A LOCAL KWIK CAR SHOP. I JUST CALLED MY LOCAL GM DEALER SHIP TO ASK WHY MY VEHICLE WASN'T COVERED BY THE RECALL. I DO HAVE THE RECEIPT WHERE THE PART WAS REPLACED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED SHE WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH IN WHICH SHE COULD NOT RECALL THE EVENTS. A POLICE REPORT WAS AVAILABLE. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, WHICH CAUSED THE CRASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LEAKING FUEL ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND DISCOVERED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM UNDER THE FUEL TANK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE FUEL MODULE WAS REPLACED. THE CONTACT INQUIRED ABOUT NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE:DELIVERY:FUEL PUMP) AND WAS TOLD THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL BASED ON THE VIN. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO VERIFIED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL AND PROVIDED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,917.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, THERE WAS AN EXTREMELY STRONG ODOR OF FUEL EMITTING INSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE WOULD OCCUR ANYTIME AFTER STARTING THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THEY DETECTED A FUEL PUMP LEAK. THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60-65 MPH WHEN HE NOTICED AN UNUSUAL GASOLINE FUEL ODOR. THE CONTACT INSPECTED THE VEHICLE BUT DID NOT LOCATE A FUEL LEAK. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS ADVISED THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS OVER THE MILEAGE LIMITATIONS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE: DELIVERY: FUEL PUMP). THE CONTACT THEN TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS REPAIRED. THE LOCAL MECHANIC ADVISED HIM THAT THE FUEL HAD SETTLED ON THE FUEL TANK AND WAS LEAKING. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 165,527 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 168,303.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT EQUIPPED WITH NANKANG MILESTAR BST RADIAL TIRES (N/A). WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AND INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE HE WAS INFORMED THAT THE BELTS WITHIN THE TIRES WERE SEPARATING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
I WAS DRIVING AND SUDDENLY LOST POWER STEERING WHEN ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT TURN. CONTINUED DRIVING THOUGH VERY DIFFICULT TO EVEN CHANGE LANES. ONCE I REACHED MY DESTINATION, HAD EXTREME DIFFICULTIES IN PARKING MY VEHICLE. I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, TURNED IT ON AGAIN AND AT THAT POINT POWER STEERING WAS RESTORED. NO WHERE IN THE VEHICLE MANUAL DID IT INDICATE I CAN TURN OFF THE CAR AND RESTART SHOULD I SUDDENLY LOSE POWER STEERING. I HAVE ALREADY CONTACTED CHEVROLET AND THEY INFORMED ME OF THE POWER STEERING RECALL OF WHICH I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE AS WELL AS A RECALL FOR THE FUEL PUMP MODULAR, AGAIN, NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. I HAVE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR TOMORROW TO HAVE MY VEHICLE SERVICED AT A CHEVROLET DEALER TO HAVE BOTH ITEMS FIXED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 10 TO 15 MPH AND MAKING A TURN THE POWER STEERING SUDDENLY BECAME DIFFICULT. ONCE THE POWER STEERING FAILED HE MENTIONED THAT THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENTAL PANEL WOULD START TO MALFUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER AT LEAST 5 TO 6 TIMES AND THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE STEERING COLUMN, LOOSE BOLTS, AND BRACKETS ALL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE STATED COMPONENTS LISTED ABOVE. SINCE HIS LAST VISIT IN FEBRUARY OF 2011 THE FAILURE HAD RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 31,900. 2007 CHEVY COBALT SMELL STRONG GAS SMELL. POOR STARTING. FOUND OUT THERE WAS A RECALL ISSUED ON FUEL PUMPS BUT ONLY ISSUED IN CERTAIN STATES. CAR IS REGISTERED IN MISSOURI WHICH IS NOT ON LIST BUT WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN GEORGIA WHICH IS ON LIST. VIN NUMBER FALLS WITHIN RANGE LISTED ON THIS WEB SITE ON DOCUMENT 2410373 LISTED ON THIS SITE BY GM DIRECTOR SCOTT LAWSON. CONTACTED CHEVY AND THEY ACTED LIKE THEY NEVER HEARD OF SUCH A PROBLEM. NO HELP OR CONCERN ABOUT SITUATION. THIS IS DANGEROUS ,MANY INCIDENTS OUT THERE LIKE THIS ON THIS YEAR OF VEHICLE. *TR
WELL I BOUGHT A 2007 CHEVY COBALT 2 WEEKS AGO. THEY DID THE RECALLS ON IT AND THE POWER STEERING COLUMN I THEN DROVE THE CAR DOWN A GRAVEL DRIVEWAY AT MY GIRL FRIENDS DADS HOUSE AND THE FRONT END SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS ABOUT TO FALL APART. SO I TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP , THEY THEN BASICALLY DISASSEMBLED MY ENTIRE DASH AND REPLACED THE STEERING COLUMN. UNFORTUNATELY IN THE PROCESS OF DOING THIS THEY TIED PRACTICALLY ALL MY WIRING IN KNOTS AND TAPED IT ALL UP WITH ELECTRIC TAPE. THE STEERING STILL RATTLES AND THE PROBLEM IS BETTER BUT STILL EXIST. I DON'T THINK DEALERSHIPS SHOULD BE SELLING CARS WITH THIS DEFECT. I MEAN I THOUGHT I WAS BUYING A CAR IN GOOD CONDITION WITH 37,000 MILES AND I END UP WITH THE HUNK OF CRAP. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING SHE SMELLED GASOLINE. WHEN SHE LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE SHE FUEL LEAKING OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL MECHANIC AND THE FUEL PUMP WAS REPLACED ALONG WITH THE FUEL TANK. THE REPAIR SEEMED TO HAVE REMEDIED THE FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 53,700. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN.

HE ENGAGED THE ACCELERATOR AND THE VEHICLE HESITATED, BACK FIRES AND THEN BEGAN DRIVING NORMALLY. THE FAILURE STARTED APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS AGO AND THE FAILURE WAS CONSTANT. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER OR LOCAL MECHANIC. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 63,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,500.
I OWN A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT (VIN NUMBER [XXX]) WHICH WAS PURCHASED AND LICENSED IN THE STATE OF TEXAS. THERE IS A CURRENT RECALL FOR SOME 2007 CHEVY COBALTS (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 09V419000). THE DEALER I CONTACTED INDICATED THAT MY AUTO WAS NOT PART OF THE RECALL AND I NEVER RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. HOWEVER, MY CAR IS EXPERIENCING THE SAME SYMPTIONS AS CARS THAT HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR THIS ISSUE. THE SYMPTIONS ARE: (1) GAS SMALL (2) NOTICABLE REDUCTION IN FUEL MILEAGE (FROM 27 MPG TO 18 MPG) (3) DIFFICULT STARTING I BELIEVE MY CAR SHOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THIS RECALL AS WELL. I CURRENTLY OWN A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT LT. ON JULY 19, MY HUSBAND AND I NOTICED A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. A WEEK LATER, OUR CAR WAS IN THE SHOP FOR REPAIRS (NOT RELATING TO THE GASOLINE ODOR), AND I WAS INFORMED THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULAR ASSEMBLY WAS CRACKED, AND LEAKING GASOLINE. THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THAT IT COULD CATCH FIRE IF IT WAS NOT REPLACED. THE WARRANTY ON THE FUEL PUMP HAD EXPIRED TWO MONTHS PREVIOUS, AND WAS ON RECALL, BUT NOT IN THE STATE WE RESIDE IN. IT HAD TO BE REPLACED IMMEDIATELY, AND THE COST CAME OUT OF POCKET. *TR
CATALYTIC CONVERTER.ONLY THREE YEARS OLD. SO MANY BAD GM CAN'T SUPPLY NEW ONES. WAS TOLD BY THREE DEALERS THEY WERE BACK ORDERED AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR MAYBE UP TO A MONTH. WILL NOT WARRANTY MINE BECAUSE HAVING TO KEEP USING VEHICLE FOR WORK I HAVE EXCEEDED THE WARRANTY MILEAGE. TRIED AN AFTER MARKET ONE BUT MECHANIC SAID IT WOULD NOT WORK, SO IT SEEMS ONLY ORIGINAL GM WILL FIT MY CAR. *TR

ON JULY 15, 2010 I WAS HIT HEAD-ON BY ANOTHER DRIVER. PICTURES OF MY CHEVY COBALT CLEARLY SHOW THE DRIVER SIDE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY CORRECTLY ON THE RIDE SIDE OF THE STEERING WHEEL. AS A RESULT, I SUFFERED MULTIPLE INJURIES, MOST OF THE INJURIES ARE ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY. DISLOCATED AND SHATTERED RIGHT FOOT, RIGHT WRIST FRACTURE, CUT IN RIGHT KNEE, DISFIGURED STOMACH, NEED LEFT HIP REPLACED, ALSO HAVE DEPRESSION, PTSD, ANXIETY, LONG AND SHORT TERM MEMORY LOSS, CHRONIC PAIN, DEGENERATIVE DISK DISEASE, BOTH KNEES AND ARMS WEAK. SUFFERED MULTIPLE INJURIES, MOST ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY BODY. AM UNABLE TO WORK. PICTURES OF MY CHEVY COBALT STEERING WHEEL CLEARLY SHOWS THE AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY CORRECTLY. THUS LEAVING ME WITH ONGOING PAIN. DISLOCATED MY RIGHT FOOT, SIX SURGERIES IN ALL. FRACTURED MY RIGHT WRIST, KEY WENT INTO MY RIGHT KNEE, BRUISED RIGHT BREAST AND TISSUE DAMAGE, BOTH KNEES AND ARMS WEAK, BRUISING FROM SEAT BELT AND DISFIGURED RIGHT FOOT, STOMACH, AND RIGHT HIP. SUFFER ALSO FROM PTSD, LONG AND SHORT TERM MEMORY, DEPRESSION, AGITATION, DEGENERATIVE DISK DISEASE, MIGRAINES, AND MORE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS CRACKED. WHILE DRIVING, THERE WAS A FUEL ODOR AND FUEL SPILL LEAK IN THE VEHICLE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE FUEL TANK DROPPED AND THE FUEL PUMP ASSEMBLY WAS CRACKED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BY THE MECHANIC AT THE CONTACTS EXPENSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED HIM THAT SINCE HIS VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED IN OHIO IT WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 83,600. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH THE POWER STEERING LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL AND THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME VERY STIFF. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN ONTO THE EMERGENCY LAND AND WHEN IT WAS RESTARTED IT BEGAN TO FUNCTION NORMALLY AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO RECUR UNTIL THE CONTACT REACHED HIS DESTINATION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT EXAMINED TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 50,000.
IT STARTED OUT OF NO WHERE A WARNING OF POWER STEERING PROBLEMS APPEARED AND THE STEERING GOES OUT. WHEN IT HAPPENS I HAVE TO TURN IT OFF AND THEN THE PROBLEM IS FIXED FOR A FEW MINUTES AND THEN IT HAPPENS AGAIN IT HAPPENS AROUND EVERY 20-30 MIN. ITS DANGEROUS BECAUSE AT TIMES IM NOT ABLE TO FINISH A TURN AND I GET STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE STREET. *TR
I NOTICED THE STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE COMING FROM MY CAR.I TOOK MY CAR TO THE AUTO MECHANIC TO HAVE IT CHECKED OUT. I WAS INFORMED THAT MY CAR HAD A GAS LEAK AND THERE WAS A CRACK CAUSING THE LEAK IN THE FUEL PUMP LINE. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT THIS WAS RARE AND I SHOULD CONTACT THE MANUFACTURE TO SEE IF THERE WAS A RECALL AND TO SEE IF I WOULD BE REIMBURSE THE MONEY SPENT FOR THE PART TO BE REPLACED. I CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS VIA EMAIL. I EXPLAINED MY ISSUE WITH A GAS LEAK AND ASKED IF THERE WAS A RECALL. I WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL AT THE TIME WHICH WAS JULY OF 2010. RECENTLY I WAS MADE AWARE OF A RECALL WITH THE CHEVY COBALT 2007 HAVING A GAS LEAK. I AGAIN CONTACTED GENERAL MOTORS ONLY TO BE TOLD MY CAR IS NOT VIN SPECIFIC TO THE RECALL.NO ONE WAS ABLE TO EXPLAIN TO ME WHY MY CAR IS A 2007 CHEVY COBALT AND I HAD THE SAME ISSUE THAT IS STATED IN THE CURRENT RECALL. CLEARLY THERE IS A LARGER PROBLEM THAT GENERAL MOTORS IS NOT ACKNOWLEDGING. I'VE SENT TWO MORE COMPLAINTS ASKING THAT THE RECALL BE EXPANDED TO INCLUDE MORE VIN'S AND I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE TO THOSE COMPLAINTS. *TR

MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT HAD A STRONG SMELL OF GAS AND I FOUND A PUDDLE OF GAS UNDERNEATH THE CAR. I TOOK THIS CAR TO A CHEVROLET DEALER AND THE MECHANIC SAID THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE ASSEMBLY FAILED. TOTAL MILES:27900 THE CAR MAKES LOUD NOISES WHILE DRIVING EVEN WHEN YOU HIT POT HOLES OR NOT. THE BUSHINGS GAVE UP ON THE DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM AND LEAKS CAN BE NOTICED ON THE STRUTS ON BOTH SIDES. EARLIER THEIR WAS A SIMILAR NOISE WHICH RESULTED IN CHANGING THE WHEEL RIM. THESE FIXES ARE TOO EXPENSIVE, AT REALLY LOW MILES. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 57,000.

THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS, WHILE I AM DRIVING AND HAPPENED TO ALMOST COLLIDE INTO A PASSING VEHICLE ON THE LANE NEXT TO ME. IT HAPPENS WITHIN 5-10 MIN. AFTER I TURN ON THE CHEVY COBALT 2007. IT OCCURS EVERY SINGLE TIME I INTEND TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE IS NOT IN USE FOR I HAVE SMALL CHILDREN AND I AM AFRAID AN ACCIDENT WILL OCCUR. THE CONTACT MADE AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE CONTACT DOES NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 31,000.

POWER STEERING WENT OUT IN MY 2007 CHEVY COBALT WHEN I WAS COASTING IN A PARKING LOT. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND THEN RESTARTED IT. IT DROVE FINE UNTIL I SLOWED DOWN AND THEN THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT AGAIN. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE THAT DAY. EVERY TIME IT HAPPENS, I PULL OVER, SHUT THE CAR OFF, WAIT AND THEN RESTART IT. IT USUALLY ONLY HAPPENS WHEN I AM DRIVING THROUGH A NEIGHBORHOOD OR PARKING LOT. MY CAR HAS 35,000 MILES ON IT. I CONTACTED A GM DEALERSHIP REPAIR SHOP AND WAS TOLD THAT THE FACTORY MY CAR CAME FROM HAS NOT HAD THE RECALL YET. THEY ALSO SAID IT COULD TAKE UP TO FIVE YEARS BEFORE THERE'S A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE. I KNOW THAT THERE IS A RECALL ON THE POWER STEERING COMPONENT FOR COBALTS YEARS 2005-2010. *TR
MY CAR WAS RUNNING AND GETTING WARMED UP, THEN SUDDENLY THE LOCKS START GOING OFF AND ON, REPEATEDLY. IT HAS CONTINUED TO DO THIS AND THE CAR WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. IT DOES THIS WHETHER IT IS OFF OR ON NOW. IT IS CONSTANT. THE POWER LOCKS NO LONGER WORK AND YOU CAN'T USE THE DOOR HANDLE TO UNLOCK THE CAR FROM THE INSIDE, YOU MUST MANUALLY PULL THE LOCK "UP" AND TO LOCK THE CAR YOU MUST MANUALLY PUSH ALL THE DOOR LOCK KNOBS DOWN, BUT THAT DOESN'T MATTER BECAUSE IT WILL NOT STAY LOCKED. IN ADDITION TO THIS ELECTRICAL ISSUE THE FRONT SPEAKERS GO OFF AND ON AT RANDOM. ALSO, THE TURN SIGNAL REMAINS ON EVEN AFTER THE FULL TURN HAS BEEN MADE. THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY SHUT OFF WHILE IT'S BEING DRIVEN. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU ARE GOING 70 MPH OR 20 MPH. ALSO THE POWER STEERING WENT OUT ON MY CAR, THAT WAS RECALLED AND HAS SINCE BEEN REPLACED, BUT THE STEERING STILL MALFUNCTIONS. MY CAR WAS LEAKING FUEL THE SUMMER OF 2012, AFTER THE FUEL PUMP MODULE WAS REPLACED THE GAS TANK HAD TO BE REPLACED MONTHS LATER BECAUSE THE CAR CONTINUED TO LEAK GASOLINE. THERE ARE MANY OTHER COUNTLESS ISSUES WITH THIS CAR. I AM SURPRISED AND FORTUNATE THAT THERE HAVEN'T BEEN ANY INJURIES OR FATALITIES WHILE OPERATING THIS DEATH TRAP. THIS WRITTEN COMPLAINT IS IN REGARDS TO THE MECHANICAL DEFECT OF AN EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE WITHIN A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT WITH A MANUAL TRANSMISSION. EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE INCIDENT WERE & REMAIN AS UNNOTICEABLE BY DRIVER AND OWNER OF VEHICLE. THE DRIVER HAD VEHICLE PARKED WITH THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE IN THE UP LOCKED POSITION PRIOR TO DRIVING IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TURNED ON AND DRIVEN APPROXIMATELY TWO MILES BEFORE BEING PARKED AGAIN. AS DRIVER OF VEHICLE WENT TO USE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE TO PARK THE VEHICLE, THEY IMMEDIATELY REALIZED THAT THE EMERGENCY PARKING BREAK HAD NO RESISTANCE WHEN PULLED UPWARD AND WOULD NOT REMAIN LOCKED IN THE "UP" POSITION NEEDED IN ORDER TO SAFELY PARK THE VEHICLE. ALL OTHER BRAKES WITHIN THE VEHICLE REMAINED AS NORMAL AND FUNCTIONAL. NO OTHER DEFECTS WERE DETECTED BY DRIVER. THE FAILURE OF THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE FAILED TO RETURN TO A NORMAL STATUS OF FUNCTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BY OWNER TO LOCAL CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP WITHIN 24 HOURS OF INCIDENT ON MAY 18, 2010 TO BE EVALUATED BY DEALERSHIP AND BE PROMPTLY FIXED. THE DEALERSHIP'S MECHANICS FOUND THAT THE EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE HANDLE WOULD NOT LOCK IN PLACE WHEN PULLED UPWARD DUE TO "THE MECHANISM BEING STRIPPED." THE PARKING BREAK HANDLE WAS STATED AS BEING REPLACED AND VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO OWNER WITHIN 24 HOURS OF BEING TAKEN TO DEALERSHIP. *TR
