TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND REQUIRED MORE EFFORT TO SAFELY OPERATE THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER (MORAN BUICK GMC, 14000 TELEGRAPH RD, TAYLOR, MI) WAS CONTACTED, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED, BUT WOULD NOT ASSIST SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 110,000.
THE CAR SMELLS LIKE GAS. WHEN TRYING TO START IT H3SITATES. ONCE STARTED THE SMELL OF GASOLINE IS OVERWHELMING. I LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND SMALL DROPS OF GAS DROPPED. TURNED OFF CAR AND IT STOPPED. WHEN I WENT TO DRIVE WE DIDN'T SEE OR SMELL ANYTHING. THEN TWO DAYS LATER THE CAR WAS POURING OUT THE GAS FROM WHAT LOOKED LIKE A CLAMP. THE PROBLEM IS THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE! WHEN WE GOOGLED THE ISSUE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE SAME ISSUE!! ONE RECALL SAID CARS WITH THIS LEAKAGE THAT WAS REGISTERED IN CERTAIN STATES WERE COVERED YET OUR VIN WASN'T . NOT ONLY A PRODUCT ISSUE BUT A DESIGN ISSUE. PLEASE LOOKL INTO THIS IS DANGEROUS. TO MANY PEOPLE CAN NOT AFFORD 1000.00 TO FIX AND ARE TRYING FIX IT IN THEIR OWN. THIS WILL COST SOME PEOPLE THEIR LIVES OR SOMEONE ELSE'S. COMPANIES SHOULD NOT DETERMINE WHICH VINS THEY RECALL THE MAKE YEAR AND MODEL.SHOULD BE FIXED 100 PERCENT. NHTSA SHOULD REGULATE THIS. NOT COM0ANIES!!
YESTERDAY, MY FIANCE'S SON ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE HIS CAR. UPON CRANKING THE CAR AND PUTTING IT IN GEAR TO BACK OUT OF THE DRIVEWAY, HE DISCOVERED THAT HIS POWER STEERING WAS INOPERABLE. AFTER A FEW MOMENTS. IT BEGAN OPERATING AGAIN. I AM CONCERNED THAT DRIVING HIS VEHICLE WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF THIS HAPPENING IS CLEARLY UNSAFE. I'VE RESEARCHED IT AND SAW WHERE GM HAS ACKNOWLEDGED THE PROBLEM BUT THERE AREN'T ANY OPEN RECALLS TO CORRECT THE DEFECT IN THEIR PRODUCT.

THE CONTACT DISCONNECTED THE FUEL TANK CONNECTION BECAUSE OF THE ODOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 62,000.

FUEL LINES RUNNING FROM FUEL TANK TO ENGINE HAVE RUSTED OUT AND BEGAN TO LEAK DOWN ONTO THE EXAUST, THIS IS 1 OF 2 OF THE SAME VEHICLE WE OWN THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED ON WITHIN A MONTH LEAK BEGAN WHILE DRIVING
I'VE HAD THE CAR FOR 2 YEARS I HAVE EXPERIENCED A POWER STEERING PROBLEMS THE STEERING WHEEL HAS LOCKED UP ON AND SEVERAL TIMES I HAVE ALSO SEEN ON YOUTUBE THAT A YOUNG MAN DIED FROM THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP ON HIM A 2007 CHEVY COBALT AS WELL I'M VERY CONCERNED I DRIVE WITH MY KIDS IN THE CAR I HAVE TO GO TO A DEALERSHIP NOW TO REPLACE HIS CAR AND PAY MONEY THAT I DO NOT HAVE KNOWING THAT THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL ON THIS MAKE AND MODEL I SEEN IT ON YOUTUBE AND A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PART.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GAUGES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLUCTUATED DURING THE FAILURE AND THE LOW FUEL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AUTONATION CHEVROLET NORTH (7320 N BROADWAY, DENVER, CO) WAS CONTACTED AND DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING COLUMN MODULE WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 73,000.

ALSO, THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 130,000.

THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (MICHAEL CHEVROLET, 5735 BLACKSTONE AVE, FRESNO, CA 93710) WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A SALVAGED TITLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED PER AN UNKNOWN RECALL, THERE WAS NO WARRANTY, AND THE VEHICLE HAD A SALVAGED TITLE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. STRONG FUEL ODOR IN THE PASSENGER AREA, BRAKE LIGHTS AND STEERING WHEEL LIGHTS /BUTTONS FAILING.
MY COBALT IS NOT LISTED IN THE FUEL PUMP-FUEL LINE RECALLS THAT NUMEROUS OTHERS ARE LISTED IN, YET, I'VE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM! ALSO, THE FUEL LINES ARE RUSTING THROUGH AT THE METAL CLAMP SITES AND LEAKING GAS TOO! I BELIEVE THIS RECALL NEEDS EXTENDED TO COVER ALL VEHICLES DEVELOPING THIS PROBLEM!
2 FUEL LEAKS REQUIRED EXTENSIVE & EXPENSIVE WORK: #1: FUEL LINE RUSTED COMPLETELY IN AREAS WHERE CLAMPS ATTACHED FUEL LINE TO CAR BODY ALONG DRIVER'S SIDE-FRONT 2 BACK. #2- PLASTIC 'L'-SHAPED PIECES CONNECTING FUEL LINES TO FUEL PUMP@GAS TANK DEVELOPED CRACKS. BOTH ISSUES CAUSED FUEL LEAKS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING CREATING EXTREME FIRE/EXPLOSION HAZARD-ESPECIALLY BCUZ GAS LEAKS WERE DIFFICULT TO DETECT WHILE CAR IN MOTION EXCEPT FOR SOME GAS FUMES. GAS PUDDLES ONLY OCCUR IF IDLING IN 1 PLACE - OTHERWISE IT WAS ALL 'BLOWBACK' WHILE MOVING & HAD THE FUEL LINE NOT NEEDED REPLACED THE L-PIECES CRACKS MAY OF GONE UNNOTICED UNTIL COMPLETE FAILURE BECAUSE FUMES & LEAKS BLOW AWAY WHILE DRIVING... WE ARE LUCKY TO NOT HAVE EXPLODED CUZ WE SMOKE &/OR ANY SPARK COULD'VE CAUSED A BOOM!

POWER STEERING QUIT WORKING DURING ME DRIVING THE VEHICLE. POWER STEERING LIGHT WENT ON THE DASH BOARD. MECHANIC STATED THERE WAS A POSSIBLE RECALL ON THIS PART.
HEADLIGHT ISSUE HEADLIGHTS RANDOMLY STOP WORKING, ISSUE EFFECTS HIGH AND LOW BEAM, LEFT AND RIGHT INTERMITTENT FAILURES. DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANY RELATIONSHIP TO MOVEMENT OR BUMPS IN ROADWAY. PIGTAIL APPEARS TO HAVE BEEN HOT AND SHOWS SIGNS OF BEING OVERHEATED.
THE AIR BAG DEPLEYED CAUSING ME TO WREAK AND I BROKE 4 RIB AND MY STERUM
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS LOSING FUEL WHILE BEING DRIVEN. WHILE IN MOTION, FUEL ODORS WERE EMITTED FROM THE VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, THE TURN SIGNALS STOPPED WORKING AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PREMIER CHEVROLET BUICK GMC (401 S. LOOP HWY 59, LIVINGSTON, TX 77351 (936) 587-9398) WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE TURN SIGNAL FAILED AND FUEL STARTED LEAKING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AGAIN AND A TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS REPAIRED, AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE BECAUSE IT WAS NO LONGER COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300.
FUEL TANK STARTED LEAKING WHERE THE MALE PART EXTENDS OUT TO CONNECT WITH TUBE USED FOR FILLING.
THE FULE LINE HAS RUSTED OUT AND LEAKING GAS. THIS PROBLEM HA HAPPENED TO MY CAR AND ITHE SAME PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED TO A COWORKERS CAR. THE SAME AREA OF THE FULE LINE.

ON 11/04/2017 AT APPROXIMATELY 3:00 PM I RETURNED TO MY CAR (IN PARKING LOT) AFTER WORK TO GO HOME. I STARTED CAR AND "POWER STEERING" APPEARED ON DISPLAY. I COULD ONLY TURN MY STEERING WHEEL BUT 1/2 AN INCH. I PANICKED AND CALLED TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED TO CLOSEST AUTO PART STORE TO MY HOUSE. IT WAS THERE THAT I FOUND OUT THAT MY CAR DOES NOT TAKE FLUID; BUT IS ELECTRICAL? AN ASSOCIATE OF AUTO PART STORE LOOKED UP HOW TO REPLACE IT; IF THEY COULD EVEN DO SO AND THEN FOUND THAT SIMILAR PROBLEMS WERE REPORTED OF TOTAL LOCK-UP OF WHEEL (PROBLEMS WITH POWER STEERING). A WEBSITE WAS RECOMMENDED TO LOOK UP VIN # TO SEE IF POWER STEERING WAS RECALLED. OF COURSE LOCAL CHEVY DEALERS ARE NOT AVAILABLE ON WEEKENDS, SO I MUST WAIT UNTIL MONDAY (NOV. 6TH 2017). I HAVE ORIENTATION ON THIS DAY (EARLY IN THE MORNING) AND CANNOT TAKE MY CAR IN. I DO HOPE MY WHEEL DOES NOT FREEZE UP ON THE FREEWAY! I MUST NOTE THAT WHEN I STARTED CAR UP AGAIN FROM AUTO STORE THAT IT DID NOT DISPLAY THE WORDS "POWER STEERING" AND IT DROVE THE SAME EXCEPT FOR THE FACT THAT IT HICCUPED A BIT BEFORE STARTING. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE ANYWHERE NOW FOR FEAR OF THE STEERING FREEZING UP.
THERE IS A STORNG GAS SMELL COMING FROM THE CAR. THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON AND DIAGNOSTIC SHOWS IT HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. I CAN'T PARK IN MY GARAGE BACAUSE THE FUMES ARE SO STRONG.
FUEL LINE LEAKING. PER MECHANIC, THIS SHOULD NOT HAVE RUSTED.
ON 10/20/2017 I NOTICED A SMELL OF GAS AROUND MY CAR. ON SUNDAY WE LOOKED UNDER THE CAR AND NOTICED THE TOP PART OF THE TANK IS WET.
FUEL LEAKING AT FUEL PUMP DRIPPING ONTO HOT EXHAUST
2007 CHEVY COBALT LEAKING GASOLINE ON DRIVERS SIDE UNDER REAR TIRE. GAS LEAK VERY BAD. CHEVY SAID THEIR WAS NO RECALL BUT I UNDERSTAND THAT THE NHTSA WAS ADVISED. I AM GOING TO TRY TO GET CHEVY TO PAY FOR THIS REPAIR.
GAS FUMES INSIDE AND OUT, NO LEAKS FOUND WHEN STOPPED.

AN UNKNOWN GENERAL MOTORS DEALER IN O'FALLON, ILLINOIS WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 132,000.

THE CONTACT TURNED OFF AND RESTARTED THE ENGINE, AND THE VEHICLE RETURNED TO NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE GM RECALL CENTER WAS CALLED AT 800-630-2438 AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 184,817.
STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE IN THE VEHICLE AND AROUND IT. HESITATION IN STARTING VEHICLE. TOOK TO HAVE LOOKED AT AND WAS TOLD OUR FUEL PUMP HAS A BAD LEAK. DID RESEARCH ON LINE TO FIND OUT OTHER VIN 2007 CHEV. COLBALTS ALSO HAVING THIS PROBLEM AND MOST WERE COVERED BY A RECALL. HOWEVER, OUR IS NOT! OUR DAUGHTER DRIVES THIS CAR 2 HRS A DAY AND IT IS SUCH A FIRE HAZARD. HOW IS THIS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE I'M SURE YOU AGREE. THE RISK OF FIRE FROM THE GAS LEAK AND THE LARGE AMOUNT OF CHEV COBALTS THAT HAVE HAD THIS ISSUE MAKES NO SENSE YOU WOULDN'T COVER THE REPAIRS. PLEASE TELL US THE WAY TO GET THIS EXPENSIVE REPAIR TAKEN CARE OF. WE INSIST YOU COVER THE DEFECT! THANK YOU IN ADVANCE AND PRAYERS NO ONE IS SERIOUSLY INJURED WITH THIS DEFECT BEING SUCH A PROBLEM FOR GM.
FUEL LEAKS/POURS OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF VEHICLE ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WHEN CAR IS RUNNING. SLOW DRIP AFTER VEHICLE IS TURNED OFF.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO WEST KENDALL TOYOTA IN MIAMI, FL FOR REGULAR OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION SERVICE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY THE TECHNICIAN THAT A VERY BAD FUEL LEAK WAS COMING FROM THE FUEL TANK AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN ALSO INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THERE WAS AN OPEN RECALL FOR THE FUEL TANK (09226C). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED DUE TO THE DIAGNOSTIC FEES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CALLED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE RECALL WAS CLOSED AND THE CONTACT WOULD HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR THE DIAGNOSTIC AND REPAIR FEES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 71,536.
FUEL LEAK
A STRONG GAS ODOR WAS SMELLED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WHEN OUTSIDE, THE ODOR WAS STRONG FROM THE REAR END OF THE CAR. NO VISIBLE LEAKS ON THE GROUND, BUT SOME GAS WAS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE GAA TANK. LIKE MANY OTHER COBALT OWNERS, MY DEALER INFORMED ME THAT THE FUEL PUMP RECALL DID NOT MATCH MY VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS, LIFE THREATENING SITUATION... AND ITS HARD TO BELIEVE I HAVE TO GO THIS FAR TO GET CHEVY TO FIX IT.
WHEN I START MY CAR, IT SMELLS LIKE GAS. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TOLD ME IT WAS THE HOSE. MY CAR IS STATIONERY.
I SUDDENLY STARTED SMELLING GAS WHEN DRIVING AND PARKING MY CAR. THEN I NOTICED A SMALL PUDDLE UNDER THE CAR ON DRIVERS SIDE IN FRONT OF WHEEL. THE NEXT DAY IT WAS LEAKING QUITE A BIT.

FUEL LINES RUSTED NEAR EXHAUST HEAT SHIELD ON DRIVER'S SIDE OF CAR. TWO VISIBLE GAS LEAKS FROM LINES AFTER FUEL PUMP IS ENGAGED, AND CAR IS PARKED. NO DOUBT THE LINES ALSO LEAK GAS WHILE DRIVING. MECHANIC SAYS MOISTURE BUILDS UP IN THE HEAT SHIELD AND RUSTS OUT FUEL LINES. HE SAYS THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR COBALTS HHRS, AND SATURN IONS, BUT AS FAR AS I'M AWARE, THERE IS NO APPLICABLE RECALL OR SPECIAL COVERAGE ISSUED BY GM FOR THIS FUEL LINE ISSUE.
