AFTER DRIVING CAR APPROXIMATELY 4 MILES ON COUNTY ROADS, AT 25-35MPH. I ARRIVE AT MY DESTINATION, STOP, SHIFT INTO PARK, AND REACH TO TURN KEY OFF. I AM UNABLE TO MOVE KEY FROM THE RUN POSITION, AND/OR REMOVE THE KEY. SO MY CAR IS SITTING THERE RUNNING AND I AM UNABLE TO TURN OFF THE ENGINE. AFTER NEARLY 10 MINUTES TRYING TO TURN THE KEY BACK TO OFF WHILE JIGGLING THE KEY AND THE STEERING WHEEL, AND SHIFTING THE GEAR SHIFT DOWN AND BACK TO PARK SEVERAL TIMES, I AM UNABLE TO REGAIN CONTROL OF THE IGNITION SWITCH AND KEY. I RESORT TO PULLING A FUSE UNDERHOOD TO KILL THE ENGINE.
MY DAUGHTER WAS IN A WRECK 3/15/19. HER CAR FLIPPED AND SHE AND HER FRIEND WERE INJURED. NOT ONE AIRBAG DEPLOYED
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING SERVICED AT LOVE CHEVROLET (100 PARKRIDGE DR, COLUMBIA, SC 29212, (803) 454-9382), THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED OF A FUEL LEAK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE FUEL LEAK WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000. *TT *TR
THE FUEL PUMP STOPPED WORKING. AFTER INSPECTION THE FUEL PUMP WAS CHARRED AND THE ELECTRICAL PLUG RUNNING FROM THE LID THAT LOCKS UNDER THE TANK LOCKING RING CRUMBLED APART. IT WAS SO BURNT ITS A WONDER A FIRE DIDN'T START SINCE IT'S INSIDE THE TANK. TO MAKE THINGS WORSE THE LID THAT SEALS IN THE CONNECTOR AND ALL THE HOSES TO THE FUEL PUMP IS NON EXISTENT. THE PART NUMBER IS NOT EVEN LISTED.
WIRING HARNESS IN DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR CREATES AN ELECTRICAL SHORT THAT DISABLES SIDE IMPACT SENSORS/AIRBAGS. SYMPTOMS MATCH EXACTLY THE AN EXISTING RECALL (15V500000) THAT LISTS ONLY THE 2010 MODEL YEAR AS BEING AFFECTED. THE DISABLING OF THE AIRBAG HAPPENS EVERY TIME THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IS ROLLED DOWN. THIS OCCURS WHEN DRIVING AND STATIONARY.
FUEL SMELL COMING FROM CAR WHEN JUST SITTING, STARTED SMALL, NOW FUEL/GAS IS GUSHING OUT. HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED. MECHANIC STATED FUEL LINE WAS RUSTED THROUGH AND CRACKING. I LIVE IN A STATE IN WHICH RUSTING SHOULD NOT BE A FACTOR. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A GM MANUFACTURING PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE RECALLED. THIS IS MY ONLY TRANSPORTATION. CALLED GM TO SEE IF IT WAS RECALLED AND THEY SAID NO. WHILE SOME HAVE BEEN RECALLED MY VIN HAS NOT. GM EXCLUDES THIS FROM THEIR SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES COVERAGE AS WELL. I HAVE LOOKED ON LINE AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE WITH THIS PROBLEM, NOT THE ONLY ONE GM HAS FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE AND REPAIR. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AS THE CAR COULD CATCH FIRE WITH THIS TYPE OF FUEL LEAK. PLEASE HELP, DUE TO THE INABILITY TO DRIVE IT, I'M NOW STUCK PAYING $650-$850 REPAIR BILL. GM NEEDS TO ACKNOWLEDGE THIS SAFETY PROBLEM AND REIMBURSE ME AS THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
Passenger side seat caused a situation where the air bags were turned off and warning lights to come on in dash. This occurs sporadically, it happens if I move the seat or if some one sits in it then gets out of the car. Has happened since I first bought the car used.
I WAS DRIVING THE OTHER DAY AND NOTICED THAT ONE OF MY BACK BRAKES WAS STICKING AND SO I TOOK A LOOK AT IT AND FLUID LEVEL WAS FINE AND THERE WAS NO AIR IN THE BRAKE LINE. I FEEL THE CAUSE OF THIS IS BAD CALIPERS AND SOME OTHERS I HAVE TALKED HAD THE SAME ISSUE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STARTED, THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE POWER STEERING WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED, IT FUNCTIONED NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE MALFUNCTIONED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING OR REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 135,000.
THESE COMMENTS APPLY TO MANY SEDANS! ROOF IS TOO LOW! VISION IS OBSTRUCTED . CAN'T LOOK UP. CAN'T SEE TRAFFIC LIGHTS CHANGE WHEN STOPPED IN FRONT OF THEM! ROOF SUPPORTS, ESPECIALLY IN THE FRONT MAKE DANGEROUS BLIND SPOTS. ASIDE FROM THIS , I AM ONLY 6 FEET TALL. YES I AM NOW IN MY 60'S. MOST SEDANS ARE TOO LOW TO THE GROUND. I CAN'T GET IN OR OUT! ESPECIALLY IF I HAVE TO PARK BESIDE A CURB. I CAN'T GET OUT! AND JUST A NOTE: AIRBAGS SAVE LIVES BUT I HATE BUCKET SEATS AND CONSOLES WITH CUP HOLDERS. SO MANY DISTRACTIONS NOW! I WISH I COULD STILL HAVE BENCH SEATS. THANKS

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO SCENIC CHEVROLET (864-622-2555, LOCATED AT 3449 BLUE RIDGE BLVD, WEST UNION, SC 29696) WHERE IT WAS STATED THAT THE REPAIRS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V047000 (AIR BAGS, ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V171000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) COULD NOT BE PERFORMED DUE TO CORRODED FUEL LINES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 48,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN ABNORMAL FUEL ODOR INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO OBSERVED FUEL LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THE DRIVER'S SIDE QUARTER PANEL AND FUEL LINE WERE CORRODED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 127,500.
WE HAVE OWNED A 2009 CHEVY COBALT FOR 3 YEARS - AND EACH YEAR, SOMETHING HAS HAD TO BE REPLACED/REPAIRED WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE FIRST YEAR, THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED AND WAS PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET. THE SECOND YEAR, THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED AGAIN AND WAS COVERED UNDER A RECALL. ONCE AGAIN, THE CAR IS ACTING THE SAME AS BEFORE EACH TIME THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED (STRONG GAS ODOR, LEAKING FUEL, DECREASED POWER WHEN TURNING ESPECIALLY, AS IF SUFFICIENT FUEL ISN'T BEING SUPPLIED TO THE MOTOR) FOR THE THIRD YEAR IN A ROW. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO REPORT THE REPEAT CONCERNS (CASE # 9-4957891748) AND WAS TOLD THAT THERE IS A SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT (#12191) AVAILABLE FOR A FUEL PUMP MODULE REPLACEMENT THAT OUR CAR MAY QUALIFY FOR AND WAS DIRECTED TO TAKE IT TO ANY GM DEALERSHIP FOR A DIAGNOSTIC REVIEW WHICH I DID THE SAME DAY. I JUST RECEIVED A CALL FROM THE DEALERSHIP AND BASED ON THEIR DIAGNOSTIC REVIEW, THE PROBLEM THIS TIME IS DUE TO THE FUEL LINES RUSTING OUT, WHICH WOULD NOT BE COVERED UNDER THE SPECIAL COVERAGE ADJUSTMENT. THERE ARE ONLY 121,000 MILES ON OUR VEHICLE AND IT IS KEPT IN A GARAGE WHEN NOT BEING DRIVEN. NEEDING TO REPLACE THE FUEL LINES NOW AFTER HAVING TO HAVE THE FUEL PUMP REPLACED TWICE (AND ALL WITHIN 3 YEARS) SEEMS TO BE POOR CRAFTSMANSHIP ON BEHALF OF THE MANUFACTURER, AND AFTER RESEARCHING SIMILAR CONCERNS ONLINE REVEALS AN ABUNDANCE OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS OF CONTINUED FUEL SYSTEM REPAIRS/MALFUNCTIONS OF OTHER CHEVY COBALT OWNERS FOR THE SAME YEAR VEHICLE. IT IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE A VEHICLE THAT CONSISTENTLY HAS A COMPROMISED FUEL SYSTEM, AND DEEMS FURTHER RESPONSE AND ACCOUNTABILITY FROM THE MANUFACTURER TO THE EXCESSIVE NUMBER OF CONSUMERS THAT HAVE BEEN PROVIDED A VEHICLE THAT IS DANGEROUS TO OPERATE, AND HAVE BEEN PLACED UNDER THE UNNECESSARY FINANCIAL BURDEN OF REPEAT REPAIRS AND CONCERNS.
FUEL TANK IS LEAKING GAS. STRONG GAS SMELL. AFTER LETTING CAR WARM UP, NOTICED SIGNIFICANT LEAKING UNDER CAR. AFTER REFUELING, NOTICED LEAKING UNDER CAR; EXAMINATION OF ACTUAL FLUID ON GROUND UNDER CAR SMELLED STRONGLY OF GASOLINE. CAR LEAKS WHEN STATIONARY, OR OVER BUMPS, ROUGH ROAD.
FUEL LEAKING FROM DRIVER REAR SIDE IMMEDIATELY AFTER TURNING ON AND STARTING CAR SITTING STATIONARY. NO DAMAGE OR ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THE LEAK. JUST ONE DAY STARTED LEAKING.
2009 CHEVROLET COBALT WAS DRIVING ON A CITY STREET AND POWER STEERING LIGHT CAME ON AND STEERING WHEEL BECAME TIGHT AND HARD TO STEER
I HAVE 2009 COBALT WITH 87.5K MILES HAS RUSTED OUT FUEL LINE NEAR CLIP UNDER DRIVER'S SIDE. CAR HAS HARD START DUE TO LACK OF PRESSURE IN LINE AND LEAKED WHILE DRIVING AND PARKED. THE ENTIRE LINE NEEDS REPLACED. NOT COVERED UNDER RECALL, BUT IS THE EXACT SAME ISSUE THAT WAS PREVIOUSLY RECALLED IN OTHER STATES. THIS IS AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. I HAVE OWNED THE CAR SINCE DRIVEN OFF THE LOT AND TOOK CAR OF UNDERSIDE DUE TO PREVIOUS KNOWN RECALLS, IT IS WELL MAINTAINED. DUE TO THE PROXIMITY OF THE LEAK TO THE EXHAUST, THIS IS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. MY CAR WASN'T DRIVABLE AND THE PARTS WERE DIFFICULT TO FIND FROM DEALERS. I HAD MINE REPLACED AT NATIONAL CHAIN REPAIR SHOP FOR ABOUT $600 COMPARED TO WHAT DEALER WOULD HAVE CHARGED. LOOKING AT DATABASE THIS IS A SERIOUS ISSUE DUE TO THE NATURE OF IT BEING A FUEL LEAK, ESPECIALLY WITH EXHAUST SO CLOSE TO THE LEAK. A RECALL NEEDS TO BE ISSUED OR EXPANDED TO ENSURE THE SAFETY WHILE DRIVING. NO ONE SHOULD HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THEIR CAR BLOWING UP OR CATCHING FIRE. DEALERS SEEM CLUELESS AS DOES THE MANUFACTURER WHICH WILL PROBABLY NOW CLAIM THIS IS DUE TO AGE OF THE CAR SINCE MANY REPORTS ARE ON CARS 10 YEARS OLD AT THIS POINT.
GASOLINE LEAKING IN FRONT OF LEFT REAR WHEEL BESIDE EXHAUST PIPE.LEAKING ALL THE TIME SITTING OR MOVING LEAKING IN SAME PLACE AS RECALLED COBALTS IN 2012 THAT WAS IN A HAND FULL OF WARM STATES.PA IS AS WARM AS ANY OTHER STATE
THERE IS A SMELL OF FUEL AND SEEPAGE SEEMS TO COMING FROM THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THIS JUST STARTED AND IS REALLY NOTICEABLE WHEN THE CAR IS PARKED.
FUEL LINE WAS RUSTING OUT BEHIND THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WHEEL AND FUEL WAS LEAKING. I HAD SOMEONE PATCH UP THE LINES AND JUST RECENTLY HAD THEM REPLACED ALTOGETHER.
FUEL LINE ROTTING OUT. FUEL SPRAYING ONTO EXHAUST SYSTEM WHEN DRIVING.POTENTIAL FIRE/EXPLOSION SAFETY CONCERN. CONTACTED DEALER OF PURCHASE NO RECALL / NO HELP.
ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS THE ACCELERATOR STICKS AND THE ONLY WAY YOU CAN GET IT TO STOP IS TO TAP THE GAS PEDAL. I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO GET IT TO DO THIS MULTIPLE TIMES.
FUEL LINES UNDER THE CAR, DRIVER SIDE REAR STARTED LEAKING FUEL. THE LINES WERE RUSTED THROUGH AND FUEL LEAKED PAST THE EXHAUST SYSTEM WHERE A POTENTIAL CAR FIRE COULD HAVE HAPPENED IF NOT NOTICED RIGHT AWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE AND OFF WHEN I NOTICED THE STRONG SCENT OF GAS AND SAW A SMALL PUDDLE OF FUEL UNDER THE CAR. REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED AT PORTER CHEVROLET SERVICE IN NEWARK, DELAWARE. REPAIRS CONSISTED OF REPLACING THE FEED LINE AND FILL LINE. THE ESTIMATE QUOTED WAS $800. REPAIRS ENDED UP COSTING $480.
COMING OUT OF A ROUNDABOUT IN RUSH HOUR WHEN A CAR AHEAD OF HER SUDDENLY STOPPED. SHE HAD ABOUT ONE AND HALF TO TWO CAR LENGTHS AND HER SPEED WAS ABOUT 35 MPH. SHE APPLIED HER BRAKES AND THEY DID NOT RESPOND. HER CAR REAR ENDED ANOTHER CAR. THE AIRBAG DEPLOYED. SHE HAS A SPRAINED NECK AND BACK. SHE HAS BEEN OFF FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS PER DOCTOR'S REQUEST. MAJOR DAMAGE TO THE ENTIRE FRONT END OF THE CAR.
UNABLE TO REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. AFTER PLACING THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUTTING IT OFF. YOU CAN NOT REMOVE THE KEY FROM THE IGNITION. YOU ARE UNABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION TO THE POSITION TO REMOVE IT. THIS HAS HAPPENED REPEATLY.
FUEL LINE RUSTS THROUGH CAUSING FUEL TO LEAK OUT NEXT TO EXHAUST PIPE. HAPPENS TO EVAP LINE AS WELL. POOR DESIGN IN THE HEAT SHIELDING TRAPS MOISTURE WHICH RUSTS THROUGH THE LINE. FUEL LEAKS OUT WHEN THE CAR IS RUNNING, PARKED, MOVING OR NOT. REAR BRAKE CALIPER STICKS OUT FROM USING THE PARKING BRAKE AND PAD STICKS TO ROTOR CAUSING EXCESSIVE WEAR.
LEAKING FUEL RIGHT UNDER THE DRIVERSIDE BY THE BACK DRIVERSIDE TIRE. BIG NOTICEABLE PUDDLE OF FUEL. CAN'T BE GOOD FOR GAS BY HEAT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT SMELLED A FUEL ODOR INSIDE THE VEHICLE. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC STATED THAT THE TWO FUEL LINES WERE RUSTED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,200.
MY POWER STEERING IS HAVING ISSUES AND I AM UNABLE TO TURN MY WHEEL AT TIMES THE SPEEDOMETER AND RBM GOES BACK AND FORTH AND THE WHOLE CAR SHIFTS WHEN I DRIVE.
AS I BACKED OUT OF MY GARAGE, IT BECAME APPARENT THAT I HAD LOST MY POWER STEERING. I COULD BARELY MOVE THE STEERING WHEEL TO KEEP MY CAR FROM HITTING THE SIDE OF THE GARAGE AS I BACKED OUT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE REVERSING AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL FAILED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE POWER STEERING BECAME INOPERATIVE. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE BUT THE STEERING WHEEL WAS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO TURN LEFT OR RIGHT. AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER STEERING MODULE WAS FAULTY AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. A DEALER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V073000 (STEERING) WAS CLOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 160,000.
STRONG FUEL SMELL, TROUBLE STARTING CAR, NO VISIBLE LEAK. NOT COVERED UNDER COBALT FUEL RECALL. THE PROBLEMS INDICATE THE ISSUE IS EXACTLY WHAT THE RECALL IS FOR. CHEVROLET NEEDS TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO GET THESE UNSAFE CARS FIXED.
WHEN ACCELERATING HARD TO GET ON THE HIGHWAY FROM EXIT OR GOING UP A HILL THE ACCELERATOR GETS SUCK. THE CAR WILL NOT SLOW DOWN WITH OUR FOOT ON THE BRAKE AS HARD AS POSSIBLE. WE JUST PRAY WE CAN GET OVER TO BREAK DOWN LANE WITHOUT HITTING ANYONE. THE ONLY WAY TO STOP CAR IS TO PUT IN NEUTRAL, KEEPING YOUR FOOT ON BRAKE AND PULLING THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. ONCE THE CARE IS IN PARK YOU MUST SHUT OFF CAR AND RESTART. IT YOU PUT THE CAR IN DRIVE WITHOUT SHUTTING CAR OFF IT WILLL START RUNNING BY ITSELF AGAIN GOING 65MP IN THE BREAK DOWN LANE. THE FIRST TIME THIS HAPPENED IT WAS IN 2009 WITH ONLY 700 MILES ON THE CAR. THE SECOND TIME WAS IN 2014 AND AGAIN SEPTEMBER 2018. TOOK CAR BACK TO DEALERSHIP AND COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEREFORE IT DIDN'T HAPPENED. TOLD ME IT WAS A FREAK OCCURRENCE.PROBABLY WOULDN'T HAPPEN AGAIN. THE CAR IS A 2009 MODEL WITH ONLY 23,000 MILES ON IT BECAUSE, I'M AFRAID TO DRIVE IT. MY HUSBAND DROVE MY CAR THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED ABOUT 2 WEEKS AGO. HE WAS ON THE MASS PIKE AND ALMOST HAD A HEART ATTACK BEFORE I COULD GET THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL. WE CALLED GM HEADQUARTERS BECAUSE WE GOT NO WHERE WITH OUR DEALERSHIP IN THE PAST. WOULD NOT TAKE CARE OF PROBLEM UNLESS WE PAID FOR THE ALL TESTS FIRST WHICH WE DID TWICE BEFORE. ALL THREE INCIDENTS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND A HIGHER POWER WAS WATCHING OVER US. WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED ALONG WITH OTHER PEOPLE. TRAVELING 65MP IN THE BREAK DOWN LANE IS NO JOKE. THE CAR HAS ALSO HAD 2 RECALLS ON IT THAT WERE FIXED.
FUEL LINES BAD AND LEAKING THE DEALER STATED IT WASNT UNDER RECALL BUT DID TELL ME THAT IT SHOULD OF BEEN AS MANY AS HE HAS FIXED OVER 100 OF THEM SINCE 07 COBALTS. THE COST OVER 600.00 DOLLARS. IT WILL SIT UNTIL I WIN THE LOTTERY CHEVY SHOULD STEP UP AND FIX IT FOR FREE.I JUST PAID THE CAR OFF LAST MONTH GO FIGURE.
GAS WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL TANK. BOLTS AND STRAPS HOLDING FUEL TANK WERE RUSTED AND DEALER HAD TO REMOVE.
PURCHASED USED 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT LT COUPE VEHICLE SMELLS IF GASOLINE BUT VIN NUMBER NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. VISIBLE PUDDLE OF GAS UNDER PASSENGER SIDE OF CAR. CAR DOES NOT ACCELERATE PROPERLY AND THE GASOLINE DEPLETES QUICKLY. NEED REPAIRS AND REPLACEMENTS. GM NEEDS TO EXPAND RECALL. THERE ARE WAY TOO MANY OTHER VEHICLE OWNERS COMPLAINING OF THE SAME THING. I HAVE CHILDREN AS I'M SURE MANY OF US DO, I'M NOT WILLING TO RISK THEIR LIVES BECAUSE GM HASN'T INCLUDED ENOUGH VEHICLES IN THE ORIGINAL RECALL.
THE IGNITION SWITCH WON'T TURN ON AND SOMETIMES WON'T TURN OFF ITS VERY LOOSE ONCE YOU DO GET IT ON AND NOW WON'T TURN OVER AT ALL
NOTICED FUEL LEAKING FROM PLASTIC FUEL LINE UNDER CAR. CAR WAS ORIGINALLY PURCHASED IN TEXAS BY MY AUNT AND I UNDERSTAND MANY CARS OF THE SAME TYPE HAVE THIS VERY SAME PROBLEM. WHILE I JUST NOTICED THIS AND THERE HAS NOT BEEN A FIRE TO MY CAR AS OF NOW RELATED TO THIS I AM VERY CONCERNED. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS IT COULD POSSIBLY CAUSE A FIRE DUE TO THE NATURE OF THE PROBLEM.

I JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THIS 2009 CHEVY COBALT LS SEDAN AND I ONLY HAD IT SINCE MID AUGUST 2018 AND ALL WAS FINE WHEN I PURCHASED. NOW I HAVE A STRONG ODOR OF GASOLINE FROM UNDER DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL AREA AFTER BEING DRIVEN FOR A WHILE AND THEN PARKED . I CALLED THE GM HOTLINE THAT I WAS ABLE TO FIND ONLINE AND THEY SAID THAT ITS AN OUT OF POCKET PROBLEM AND THAT MY VIN DOESN'T QUALIFY FOR THE RECALL WHICH HAS BEEN ISSUED IN SEVERAL OTHER STATES FOR FREE OF CHARGE. HOW CAN THIS BE ALLOWED,FIXED IN ONE STATE FREE OF CHARGE BY GM AND NOT FIXED AT ALL IN ANOTHER. A FUEL PROBLEM OR A LEAK OF ANT KIND SHOULD BE A CONCERN FOR GM AND IS A MAJOR ISSUE.I'M LOCATED IN PENNSYLVANIA BUT MY VIN SAYS I DON'T QUALIFY FOR THIS RECALL OFFERED ELSEWHERE,SO SHOULD I HAVE TO FOOT A REPAIR BILL FOR AN ISSUE THAT GM MOST DEFINITELY KNOWS ABOUT. THE RECALL SHOULD BE FOR ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES NOT JUST SOME OF THEM AND FREE OF CHARGE .I RELAYED INFO TO A GM REP ON 9/10 /18 IN THE EVENING AND ALL SHE COULD DO WAS APOLIGIZE AND THEN TELL ME THAT IT DEPENDED ON WHICH MANUFACTURING PLANT MADE THE VEHICLE. WHAT THAT HAS TO DO WITH IT STUMPS ME I TOLD HER THAT IS SHODDY AND SUB STANDARD WORK SHOULD BE REPAIRED AT GENERAL MOTORS EXPENSE NOT HARD WORKING PEOPLE WHO DON'T HAVE AN EXTRA $1000 OR SO SITTING AROUND TO SHELL OUT. ALL I SEEM TO BE GETTING IS THE RUN AROUND. A PROBLEM LIKE THIS SHOULD BE OF GRAVE CONCERN TO GENERAL MOTORS AND NOT GIVEN SO SOME OWNERS AND NOT OTHERS. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 CHEVROLET COBALT. WHILE DRIVING, THE CONTACT STATED THAT A FUEL ODOR CAME THROUGH THE VENTS OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL LINE NEXT TO THE EXHAUST PIPE WHILE FUELING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO MILLER BROTHERS CHEVROLET (9035 BALTIMORE NATIONAL PIKE, ELLICOTT CITY, MD 21042, (410) 988-6165) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT FUEL WAS LEAKING FROM THE FUEL LINE, WHICH WAS CONNECTED TO THE CHASSIS, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 240,000.

CAR STARTED TO LEAK FUEL FAIRLY QUICKLY, PRESUMABLY FOR NO REAL REASON. ONLY HAD THE CAR FOR A FEW MONTHS, HAD THE OIL CHANGED AT THE DEALERSHIP AND I NOTICED A VERY STRONG GAS SMELL SOON AFTER, CHECKED UNDER AND CAR WAS DRIPPING GAS.
CONNECTOR FEEDING POWER TO THE A/C-HEATER BLOWER MELTED; CAUSED A CRACKLING SOUND, A SMELL, AND THE FAN TO STOP WORKING. THE CONNECTOR MELTED TOGETHER. TO GET A PICTURE OF THE PIN THAT FAILED REQUIRED ME TO BREAK THE CONNECTOR. POWER WAS PRESENT ON THE BROWN WIRE AS SOON AS THE IGNITION IS ON - THE BLOWER DID NOT NEED TO BE OPERATING TO GENERATE HEAT AT THE CONNECTOR. THE WIRE LEADING TO THE CONNECTOR WAS DISCOLORED FROM THE HEAT.
THE COBALT IS LEAKING GAS FROM A LINE NEAR THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE. THE CAR IS LOSING A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GAS WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN PARKED WHILE NOT IN USE. GAS POOLS UNDER THE CAR, THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG AND EASILY RECOGNIZED AS GAS. SINCE I NOTICED THE SMELL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS ILLUMINATED. THERE IS A RECALL FOR THIS MODEL/YEAR OF COBALT FOR THE ISSUE I AM EXPERIENCING, HOWEVER MY CAR DOES NOT HAVE THE RECALL. I WANTED TO REACH OUT BECAUSE I BELIEVE THIS RECALL COULD HAVE AFFECTED MY CAR ALONG WITH THE OTHERS MADE IN THE SAME PLANT.
FUEL LINE LEAKING RIGHT AT GAS TANK. SMELLED FUEL WHEN I STOPPED FOR THE LAST WEEK OR SO. FINALLY LOOK UNDER AND LINES ARE COMPLETELY CORRODED. LOOKING ONLINE THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY VERY COMMON ISSUE THAT IS VERY FAMOUS AND EXPENSIVE TO FIX.
THE VEHICLE ANTI THEFT LIGHT KEEPS COMING ON. WHEN THIS OCCURS THE VEHICLE JERKS IN DRIVE, HARD TO STOP, WHEEL WILL LOSE POWER STEERING IN DRIVE, AND ALL NEEDLES WILL MOVE. THE RPM, MPH, AND GAS NEEDLE CONTINUES TO FLUCTUATE. THE GAS NEEDLE WILL INDICATE LOW FUEL WHEN FUEL IS PRESENT. I CAN NEVER KNOW WHAT SPEED I'M DOING. THE VEHICLE FLASHES POWER STEERING DIGITALLY. THE CAR WILL SHUT OFF IN MID DRIVE! TAKEN TO MANY MECHANICS INCLUDING DAVE GILL CHEVROLET AND NO ONE FULLY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE!
