Power steering went out, impossible to steer, no warning, able to force off road. H ad happened several times before at intervals would return after several minutes of car motor off. Saw at dealership originally but no answer found till yesterday when it happened again. Dealer" internal fault with steering gear".
Beginning in 2018, perhaps earlier, I noticed that often when I would press the accelerator all the way, the engine would (and still does) make a sound (I’ve since learned, through many dealership interactions and internet searches, that the sound is referred as pinging or knocking from pre-detonation), and it SEEMED that the car’s computer would (and still does) electronically back off the throttle, and the rpm’s reduced in terms of speed of acceleration (sometimes the rpm’s even DECREASED as opposed to merely increasing less rapidly). This has placed myself and passengers of the car in danger by causing the car to go through intersections significantly slower than I (as well as my mother who also occasionally drives the car) would naturally anticipate, as this slow crossing through the intersection has led to many close-calls when intersecting traffic (when they have the right-of-way) almost crash into the broad side of the truck. It USED to occur I would put in any fuel with an octane rating lower than 91, but now it even happens with 91 octane fuel. The problem has been reproduced by two Chevrolet dealerships. I have taken it in many times to have them repair/replace/service parts that I thought might be causing the problem. The shop foreman at one location replicated it and said he had no idea what the cause could be. The service dept. was then in back-and-forth contact with engineers at GM over the next couple of days, and the engineers eventually suggested an oil system flush thing (which ended up not helping). It’s had oil filter changes, fuel induction service, and basically everything short of replacing the injectors or pistons. Neither the vehicle nor its components have been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. No warning lamps or messages have ever displayed in relation to the problem. My co-worker’s husband has a 2018 GMC Canyon with a V6, and says the exact same thing happens with his car.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET COLORADO. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE VEHICLE HESITATED AND WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY ACCELERATE. IN ADDITION, THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR ILLUMINATED AND THE ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT INSIDE THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE LOCAL DEALER (CHEVROLET OF WASILLA, 3700 E. PARKS HWY, WASILLA, AK), BUT THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE UNABLE TO BE DETERMINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND DID NOT ASSIST. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 CHEVROLET COLORADO. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE IN TRAFFIC, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO RESPOND. AFTER WAITING FOR SEVERAL MINUTES, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE RESPONDED AS INTENDED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MECHANIC WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000. I BOUGHT A 2015 CHEVY COLORADO AT THE BEGINNING OF THE YEAR - SINCE THEN I WOULD ON OCCASION NOTICE A "SHUDDER" OR SLUGGISH ACCELERATION FOLLOWED BY SUDDEN BURST OF RPMS/ACCELERATION. AT ABOUT THE 3 MONTH MARK (AROUND 4500 MILES) MY TRANSMISSION FAILED AND WAS REPLACED. ABOUT A 3/4 OF A MONTH LATER I GOT MY TRUCK BACK AND CONTINUED TO NOTICE THE SAME SHUDDER AND ERRATIC BEHAVIOR. I BEGAN TO RESEARCH THE ISSUE AND FOUND MANY DRIVERS OF THIS AND THE GMC MODEL ARE ENCOUNTERING THE SAME ISSUE. I HAVE HAD TO NAG THE DEALERSHIP ABOUT THE ISSUE AND THERE EVENTUALLY WAS A TCM (TRANSMISSION CONTROL MODULE) SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH SEEM TO MAX THE ISSUE WHICH IS BEGINNING TO MANIFEST ITSELF AGAIN. THE SHORT VERSION OF SYMPTOMS IS AS FOLLOWS: SUDDEN ACCELERATION AT SLOW SPEEDS (THIS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST HIT A MOTORCYCLIST IN SLOW MOVING TRAFFIC), ODD GEAR SHIFTING (OR LACK OF) GOING UP HILLS, OR GOING DOWN HILLS, SOMETIMES TURNING... ODD SHIFTING AT NORMAL SPEEDS (BUT NORMALLY ON HILLS). VIBRATION AT NORMAL DRIVING SPEEDS THAT SEEMS TO COME FROM UNDER THE TRUCK (NOT THE TIRES)? I'M FINDING THE TRUCK TO BE MORE AND MORE UNPREDICTABLE AND AM NOT SURE I WONT ENCOUNTER ANOTHER FAILURE IN THE NEAR FUTURE.
