Traveling approximately 45 mph on a main road and brakes automatically engaged causing vehicle to abruptly stop. This due to faulty Automatic Emergency Braking system that has allegedly already been repaired with a software update. My child and I were in the vehicle and had another vehicle been directly behind us or even oncoming we would have likely been involved in a collision. There was no warning that came on other than the red flashing lights and beeping that engaged the same time as the automatic braking. I will likely have to go to seek medical care for soreness in my neck and back from the jarring of my body from the abrupt stop. Waiting to hear if daughter is feeling any pain as well, as mine onset through the day after the incident.
The collision avoidance system quit working. The warning light was displayed on the instrument cluster but no other warnings were sounded. After taking it to the dealer for repairs, they got the light to go out by downloading another software version, but it did not fix the problem. It only removed the light. The truck still would not give a warning when approaching another vehicle too fast or get too close at certain speeds. The dealer has kept it so far a total of 12 days and have yet to fix the problem.
Within in the two weeks of owning my truck the forward collision warning has alerted and forcefully slammed my breaks to a complete stop. One going 75 mph on the highway and once during normal in town driving. I have deactivated the system ever since. I did make my dealership aware but they just said they aren't aware of any issues. The driver side blind spot monitor constantly gives ghost alerts when it is dark.
About 4-6 times while traveling a 170 mile stretch of [XXX] from Castle Rock to Trinidad CO the vehicle will automatically brake from 75 mph to 65-70 mph when using adaptive cruise control. There is nothing in the road ahead of the vehicle. The automatic braking then releases and the speed resumes to 75 mph. This has happened on each trip since the purchasing the vehicle new in October 2023. Most recent incident was [XXX]. I had recall repair done with the dealership mechanics. After 2weeks in the shop I received the truck back. I drove it for 3 days with no issues. On the 4th day it started emergency braking and I was almost rear ended. On the same day upon starting the engine the radio screen was black. I waited a few seconds turned off the engine and restarted the engine, the instrument panel and radio screen did not light up for several seconds.
while driving with no other vehicles surrounding us, the Pick up truck all of a sudden activated the breaks
On several occasions the brakes were applied in a forceful manner for no apparent reason including one time when I was making a right turn and almost got rear ended by the vehicle behind me when I came to a forced stop
The blind spot warning will light up on the passenger side randomly when no other vehicle is present. If changing lanes while this occurs the vehicle will try to force you back into the lane you are trying to depart from. This false warning could potentially result in an accident. The dealership has so far been unable to recreate the problem, but this was only attempted once. The dealership did state that this is not the first time this issue has been brought to their attention. I have also found numerous complaints online regarding the exact same problem. No other warning lights have appeared. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer or others besides the dealership.
Driving along a two lane country road when out of know were the truck lock up the brakes, there was know traffic in front or rear, lucky for use. The only thing was a park car about 200 ft off the road with no one in it. I have since taken the dealer who spent 5 hours looking at the system only two come back and tell me it working as designed. He told me to be careful as it is very sensitive. Boy ain't that great, the thing that's supposed help you to avoid crash got cause a crash.
When driving through an intersection, the vehicle incorrectly applied the automatic emergency braking system. There was no risk of crash, however the application of the hard braking in the intersection put me at risk of a rear collision. I do see that the new recall is supposed to address this issue.
The Automatic Emergency Braking System failed me today. The truck is available for inspection. I was driving at about 45 mph, when a car pulled out from a driveway infront of me when it probably should have waited, but there was still time for me to brake safely. I started to apply the brakes and the truck slammed on the brakes, no red lights on the dash flashing, no warning beep. I pulled my foot off the brake because I wasn't sure what was happening but, the truck slammed the brakes to a full STOP.. instant stop! If there had been a car behind me, I would most certainly have been rear ended. The seat belt locked up, my body was thrashed forward twice because of the quick slow down and the stop. I'm sore, scared and not sure what to do. This isn't something that can be recreated without putting someone else in danger. This is not a safety feature, it's an accident waiting to happen!
Vehicle panic braked for absolutely no reason at all. I was rounding an ascending curve, there were no vehicles within sight in front of me. Fortunately there were none directly behind me either.
Forward collision engagement at 35mph when nothing was in front of vehicle
BSWS does not function correctly. It will light up warning in mirrors when ther is no vehicle approaching. Then many times both mirror warning lights will be on for a long time even an on empty road, such as a drive way. This condition is very dangerous for the driver as he gets a warning of a vhicle in his blind spot when none is there or no warning when one is there. Have taken back to dealer and no resolving of this very dangerous condition.
Twice in the first 6000 miles this vehicle has suddenly activated the forward collision avoidance system with emergency breaking although no cars were around. Fortunately a vehicle wasn’t behind me otherwise there may have been a collision. I took the vehicle in for service with this complaint and the dealership simply said they could not reproduce the issue during a test drive. Obviously this wasn’t helpful.
While driving the vehicle on three occasions the automatic emergency braking system activated for no apparent reason. The unexpected activation caused the vehicle to brake very hard and the possibility of a rear collision from a following vehicle could have been catastrophic. There were no symptoms or warning indications prior to the incidents. I have deactivated the AEB system until the dealer can correct the problem. I just learned of the problem on 2/22/24, so have not had an opportunity to have the problem corrected.
The contact owns a 2023 Chevrolet Colorado. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the Forward Collision Avoidance: Automatic Emergency Braking system was activated erroneously, and the vehicle decelerated to 10 MPH before the feature was released. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer or an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was 5,500.
Driving down a 35 mph road. No traffic ahead of me or behind me . vehicle suddenly slammed on the brakes as if it detected something in front of me. Was unable to give the vehicle gas until it was done braking to nearly 0 mph. Luckily no vehicles behind me or it could have caused an accident
Vehicle at random moments will automatically make the vehicle brake to a complete stop. Very dangerous thing to happen and has happened about 5 times and one time my vehicle was side swiped as the vehicle maneuvered away from and hit my rear right side to avoid my braking on the freeway.
UNKNOWN. DRIVING DOWN THE HIWAY THE COMES TO SUDDEN STOP WHEN THE FORWARD COLLISION IS ON WHEN NOBODY IS IN FRONT OF ME. ALMOST GOT REAR ENDED BY A TRANSPORT TRUCK
