HELLO MY NAME IS [XXX] I AM 64 YEARS OLD. ON SUNDAY 9/18/2016 WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 CORVETTE WITH MY WIFE IN THE PASSENGER SEAT WE NEARLY HAD AN ACCIDENT. I WAS GOING AROUND 70 WHEN THE CAR ALL OF A SUDDEN BRAKE AND PULLED TO THE LEFT. WE WERE BOTH SHOOK UP BY THIS. WE RIGHT AWAY PRESSED OUR ON-STAR BUTTON. WE HAD THEM RUN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. ON-STAR WAS UNABLE TO GET A READING ON THE CAR. WE TOLD ON-STAR THAT THE DASH BOARD DISPLAYED THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM". AS SOON AS WE GOT HOME MY WIFE LOOKED UP THIS ISSUES AND NOTICED THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS PROBLEM IN 2010 #[XXX]. MY CAR IS A 2006 CORVETTE VIN# [XXX]. I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THAT MONDAY 9/19. THE DEALERSHIP IS ANCIRA WINTON 6111 BANDERA RD SAT 78238. I WAS INFORMED THAT THE PREVIOUS OWNER HAD BROUGHT THE CAR INTO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE THIS RECALL FIXED. SO BASICALLY I WAS OUT OF LUCKY BECAUSE IT HAD BEEN FIXED. WELL I SAY NO IT HAS NOT BEEN FIXED I HAVE A PICTURE OF WHAT APPEARED ON MY DASH BOARD WHICH I HAVE ATTACHED. MY WIFE THEN CALLED THE NHTSA TO FILE A COMPLIANT AS TO THE FACT THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT REPAIR THIS .I HAVE ONLY 22,700 MILE ON THIS CAR. I HAVE NOT DRIVEN IT SINCE THIS INCIDENT WHICH CAN BE CONFIRMED BY ON-STAR. MY WIFE WAS GIVEN A COMPLIANT CASE # 10908378. SHE WAS INFORMED TO SIGN ONTO WWW.SAFETYCAR.GOV. 2006 Corvette convertible. Has a strong gas smell after filling up. I understand this is a common problem, but Chevrolet will not acknowledge it. The gas can drip down on the hot exhaust system, and start a fire, burning down our house, or out on the road with us in it! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE REVERSING THE VEHICLE AT APPROXIMATELY 5 MPH, THE SERVICE RIDE CONTROL WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT ALSO OBSERVED THAT THE STEERING WHEEL PULLED IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION OCCASIONALLY. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 10V172000 (STEERING). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.
MY ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL COMES ON REGULARLY ESPECIALLY WHEN I HIT SAND IN DRIVEWAY AND TIRE SPINS WHICH I EXPECT BUT AT OTHER TIMES THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON WITHOUT ANY TIRE SPIN OR CONDITION THAT WOULD WARRANT THIS. TURNING FROM A STAND STILL IS ANOTHER TIME THE LIGHTS WILL COME ON WITHOUT ANY TIRE SPIN. MY WIFE DRIVES THIS CAR NOW AND I GOT A NEWER ONE. I AM WORRIED ABOUT HER SAFETY AS SHE IS AN OLDER LADY [XXX] AND IF BRAKES LOCKED UP OR STEERING SHE WOULD NOT KNOW HOW TO HANDLE THE SITUATION.
I HAVE A 2006 CHEVROLET CORVETTE AND IT HAS A PART THAT IS IN THE PROCESS OF FAILING. THE DASH CONTROL UNIT (PART # 25938052) IS FLASHING, WHICH MY CHEVROLET DEALER TELLS ME IT IS GOING TO FAIL. THIS IS AN IMPORTANT SAFETY ISSUE, AS I COULD LOOSE MY DEFROSTER CAPABILITY, FRONT AND BACK WHILE DRIVING. I HAVE VISITED 5 DIFFERENT GM DEALERS AND THEY ALL SAY THE PART IS EITHER BACK ORDERED OR DISCONTINUED. I CAN'T GET A STRAIGHT ANSWER. SINCE THIS PART WAS INSTALLED IN CORVETTES UP TO 2012 MODEL YEAR, I FIND CHEVROLETS INDIFFERENCE TO THIS SAFETY ISSUE DISTURBING. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT CHEVROLET ONLINE SEVERAL TIMES AND THEY RECENTLY CUT ME OFF AND HAVE FAILED TO RESPOND TO E-MAILS. I HAVE HEARD ANECDOTALLY, THAT CHEVROLET HAS MANY PARTS "BACK-ORDERED" WINK, WINK. THEY KEEP TRYING TO SELL ME A NEW CAR, BUT WHY WOULD I BUY ANOTHER CAR FROM THEM WITH THIS BEHAVIOR? THE PART STILL WORKS FOR NOW, BUT IT BLINKS CONSTANTLY AND I NEVER KNOW WHEN IT IS GOING TO FAIL. ISN'T GM REQUIRED BY LAW TO SELL REPLACEMENT PARTS FOR A REASONABLE TIME?
THE CYLINDER HEADS HAVE VALVES THAT ARE OUT OF SPEC WITH 23,000 MILES. THE CAR IS OUT OF WARRANTY DUE TO AGE, AND I WAS FORCED TO PURCHASE AFTERMARKET CYLINDERS HEADS TO FIX THE WORN VALVE ISSUE TO INSURE I DON'T DROP A VALVE AND HAVE A CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE.
WHEN DRIVING THE VEHICLE, I CAN HEAR, AS IT SEEMS TO ME, EXCESSIVE VALVE TRAIN NOISE.
Z06 7.0L ENGINE VALVE GUIDES OUT OF SPEC AFTER 12K MILES. THIS IS DUE TO A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN MACHINING AND OR MATERIALS. FAILURE OF THE GUIDES RESULTS IN DROPPING A VALVE AND CATASTROPHIC ENGINE DAMAGE. AS A CATASTROPHIC FAILURE OFTEN CAUSES THE REAR WHEELS TO LOCK AND/OR THE ENGINE TO OIL DOWN THE ROAD AND POSSIBLY THE REAR TIRES WHICH COULD LEAD TO AN ACCIDENT OR INJURY TO OTHERS. THIS IS AN EXTREME SAFETY CONCERN.

FUEL LEAK BAD SMELL WHEN LEFT I GARAGE 2006 CORVETT
BRAKES LOCKED UP WHILE DRIVING DOWN BUSY ROAD. PULLED TO SIDE OF ROAD AND TURNED OF ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM. DROVE SHORT DISTANCE TO HOME
STRONG GAS SMELL WHEN PARKED IN GARAGE ESPECIALLY AFTER RUNNING. LASTS FOR DAYS.
CONSTANT GASOLINE SMELL IN THE GARAGE WHEN PARKED ESPECIALLY WHEN THE TANK IS NEARLY FULL. JUST RECENTLY PURCHASED THE CAR AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM LIKE THIS BEFORE. MUST LEAVE THE GARAGE DOOR OPEN OR LEAVE THE CAR OUTSIDE.

WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED, THE BRAKES ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED OVER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A MECHANIC. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. VALVE GUIDES OUT OF WEAR WITH POSSIBLE FAILURE INCLUDING VALVE TO DROP INSIDE COMBUSTION CHAMBER
AUTOMATIC SHIFTER WILL NOT RETURN TO PARK OR REVERSE POSITION FROM NEUTRAL. ESSENTIALLY VEHICLE IS STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE IS IN THE SHIFTER MECHANISM AND NOT THE LINKAGE OR TRANSMISSION. THERE IS NO WAY TO SAFELY PARK THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION OR RESTART THE CAR ONCE IT HAS BEEN TURNED OFF. ONCE IN THIS BAD STATE, THE VEHICLE REMAINS IN ACCESSORY MODE THEREFORE KILLING THE BATTERY.

AFTER DRIVING MY CAR FOR A SUFFICIENT LENGTH OF TIME TO GET THE ENGINE HOT (NORMAL DRIVING) AND THEN PARK IT IN THE GARAGE, A VERY STRONG SMELL OF FUEL VAPOR IS EMITTED FROM THE REAR AREA OF THE CAR WHICH FILLS THE GARAGE AND PERMEATES THE HOUSE. THE ODOR ALSO INVADES THE CAR'S INTERIOR CABIN. THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION WAS REPORTED TO THE WATSON CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP IN TUCSON, AUGUST, 2015, MILEAGE 67289. AFTER LENGTHY INSPECTION AND COMMUNICATION WITH GM, CERTAIN COMPONENTS WERE REPLACED - AN EXPENSIVE REPAIR. THE CAR OPERATED SATISFACTORILY AND I OBSERVED NO MORE FUEL VAPORS UNTIL MARCH 4, 2016, MILEAGE 71448. FOLLOWING A TRIP OF 40 MILES, NORMAL CITY DRIVING, I PARKED THE CAR IN THE GARAGE AND THE SAME VERY STRONG FUEL VAPORS FILLED THE GARAGE. ONCE AGAIN, THE HOUSE WAS PERMEATED WITH THE ODOR, WHICH WE FOUND NECESSARY TO PURGE, AND TO REMOVE THE CAR FROM THE GARAGE UNTIL THE VAPOR DISSIPATED. I CONSIDER THIS TO BE A DANGEROUS SAFETY HAZARD. I'VE ALSO NOTED FROM VARIOUS CORVETTE FORUMS THAT MANY OTHER C6 CORVETTES HAVE EXPERIENCED THIS CONDITION AND IT MAYBE A COMMON PROBLEM. I BELIEVE CARS LIKE MINE SHOULD BE RECALLED FOR AN APPROPRIATE FIX BEFORE AN EXPLOSION OR OTHER UNFORTUNATE EVENT OCCURS. IT WON'T BE AN ACCIDENT!
THERE IS A STRONG SMELL OF GASOLINE COMING FROM THE CAR. IT IS DIFFICULT TO PINPOINT THE SOURCE, BUT I BELIEVE THERE IS A LEAK FROM THE GAS TANK AREA.
HAS CRACK ON TOP OF FUEL PUMP SPRAYING GAS , SMELLS IN CAB
GAS VAPORS RISE FROM THE REAR WHEELS FOLLOWING A FILL UP. DOES NOT HAPPEN IF YOU ONLY FILL IT HALF WAY. FUMES ARE REALLY BAD WHEN VEHICLE IS IN THE GARAGE. NOTHING DRIPPED ON THE GROUND.
AIRBAG LIGHT COMES ON AND ONLY GOES OFF AFTER RESTARTING IN THE CAR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL PUMP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 36,000.

DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT APPROX. 65 MPH. , THE STEERING WHEEL ON MY CAR " TOOK CONTROL OF ITSELF AND JERKED TO THE LEFT: ON THE DASH POD IT STATED " SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" . I PULLED THE CAR OVER AS SOON AS I COULD DO SO SAFELY AND SHUT THE CAR OFF. AFTER RESTARTING IT THE WARNING WENT AWAY AND THE STEERING RETURNED TO NORMAL.

IN ADDITION, WHILE IN PARK, THE GEAR SHIFTER FAILED TO SHIFT OUT OF PARK AND "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" DISPLAYED ACROSS THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 32,461.
BOUGHT CAR ON A FRIDAY 12/4/2015 FUEL LEAK UNDER DRIVERS SIDE UNDER FUEL FILL DOOR. STRONG FUMES AS WELL. TOOK BACK TO DEALER MONDAY. WAS TOLD IT WILL BE THIS COMING WEEK BEFORE A TECHNICIAN CAN DROP THE REAR SUSPENSION TO GET TO THE FUEL TANK. THIS IS WHY I HAVE ONLY BOUGHT ASIAN CARS IN THE PAST. LEXUS ETC.
AUTO SHIFTER GETS STUCK IN PARK. SHIFTER LOCK WILL NOT DISENGAGE WHEN DEPRESSING THE BRAKE PEDAL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 CHEVROLET CORVETTE. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP, THE GEAR SHIFTER WAS NOT ABLE TO SHIFT OUT OF THE DRIVE POSITION. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED TO STOP THE VEHICLE'S MOVEMENT BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO SHIFT THE GEAR SHIFTER. THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT THE GEAR SHIFTER BECAME LOOSE AFTER CHANGING POSITION TO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE GEAR SHIFT CABLE WAS FRACTURED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,211.
I WAS CONCERNED ABOUT A NOISE THAT I WAS HEARING IN MY 2006 Z06 THAT IS UNLIKE ANY OTHER NOISE I HAVE HEARD WHILE CURRENTLY OWNING MY THREE OTHER GM VEHICLES. I DECIDED TO BRING IT TO A WELL KNOW CORVETTE SPECIALITY SHOP NEAR ME. THE TOLD ME ABOUT THE VALVE GUIDE ISSUE THAT HAS BEEN LINKED TO THE LS7 HEADS. I IMMEDIATELY TOLD HIM TO TAKE THE HEADS OFF THE CAR AND CHECK THEM. I HAD 4 EXHAUST VALVES THAT WERE WAY OUT OF GM SPECS. I HAD THE HEADS RE-MACHINED PROPERLY AND INSTALLED NEW INTAKE AND EXHAUST VALVE GUIDES, VALVE SPRINGS AND SEALS.
RARELY, DURING LOW SPEEDS (UNDER 15 MPH), WHILE DRIVING STRAIGHT, THE LEFT REAR WHEEL WILL LOCK UP, INDUCING A HARSH LEFT TURN, UNSTABLE MANEUVERING, AND CAUSING THE MOTOR TO ATTEMPT TO STALL. STEERING IS EXTREMELY UNSTABLE AND VIOLENT AND OPERATOR HAS TO FIGHT AGAINST THE CAR WANTING TO TURN LEFT BY APPLYING EXTREME RIGHT TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE ONLY REMEDY IS TO ENGAGE AND DISENGAGE THE CLUTCH SEVERAL TIMES UNTIL THE LEFT REAR WHEEL UNLOCKS. SYMPTOMS HAVE NOT OCCURRED DURING NORMAL TRAFFIC SPEEDS (ABOVE 15 MPH). AUTO HANDLING/TRACTION CONTROL AND ABS LIGHTS ARE ACTIVATED DURING THIS EVENT. VEHICLE IS IN FACTORY CONDITION. ONLY EXCEPTION IS ALTERNATE BRAND OF TIRE (NITTO INVOS) - BUT MAINTAINING FACTORY SPECIFICATIONS (FRONT: 275/35ZR18; REAR: 325/30ZR19). HAVE NOT REPORTED TO MANUFACTURER YET (IT IS TOO RANDOM AND RARE TO REPRODUCE ON A PREDICTABLE OCCURRENCE). ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS: NORMAL (SUNNY, DRY PAVED SURFACE).
VEHICLE HAS A CONSTANT AIRBAG INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AIRBAGS HAVE NEVER BEEN DEPLOYED.
I AM SMELLING A STRONG GASOLINE ODOR FROM THE CAR AS IT IS PARKED IN THE GARAGE. IT JUST STARTED AT RANDOM A FEW DAYS AGO. NO VISIBLE SIGNS OF GAS ARE ON THE PAVEMENT,BUT THE SMELL IS VERY STRONG. I AM WORRIED ABOUT A FIRE HAZARD SINCE THE EXHAUST IS CLOSE BY. THERE ARE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET OF THIS BEING A HUGE PROBLEM, BUT TO MY KNOWLEDGE GM IS NOT DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IF, MY CORVETTE IS 9'YRS OLD BUT ONLY HAS 17,000 MILE (A GARAGE QUEEN). THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED OUT OF THE BLUE, MY GAS GAUGE READS ABOUT 5/8 OF A TANK SO IT DID NOT HAPPEN AFTER A FILL UP.,,PLEASE HELP.

THE VEHICLE WAS SERVICED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V251000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, EXTERIOR LIGHTING), BUT THE REMEDY FAILED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE EVENING OF THE RECALL REPAIR, THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED TO ILLUMINATE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 133,900.
VALVE GUIDES PRE-MATURE WEAR CAUSING ENGINE FAILURE. *TR
I HAVE OWNED A 2006 CORVETTE FOR ABOUT 4 YEARS NOW. THE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" LIGHT COMES ON IN THE DIC. IT USED TO COME ON ONCE IN A WHILE. IT NOW OCCURS EVERY TIME I DRIVE THE CAR. ABOUT 10% OF THE TIME ONE OF THE BRAKES WILL INSTANTANEOUSLY COME ON HARD THEN RELEASES IN ADDITION TO THE "SERVICE ACTIVE HANDLING SYSTEM" LIGHT COMING ON. I LIVE IN WISCONSIN SO I DON'T DRIVE IT ALL YEAR, BUT IN THE SUMMER I DRIVE IT EVERY DAY (ITS MY PRIMARY SUMMER VEHICLE). I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON CORPORATE TYPE AIRCRAFT FOR 37+ YEARS SO I AM ACCUSTOMED TO INSPECTING COMPLEX SYSTEMS. I CHECKED UNDER THE STEERING COLUMN AND FOUND AN ORANGE "WEDGE" INSTALLED INTO THE STEERING WHEEL POSITION SENSOR AND NOTICED THE ELECTRICAL LEAD GOING TO THE SENSOR APPEARS TO BE TOO SHORT WITH THE TILT / TELESCOPIC COLUMN ADJUSTED FULL AFT AND UP. I CALLED A CHEVROLET DEALERSHIP TO "FIX THE FIX" BUT THEY TOLD ME MY CAR ISN'T COVERED BY RECALL "N100118" BY VIN #. THEY INFORMED ME THAT THEY SHOW A RECORD OF A DEALERSHIP WORKING ON THIS SYSTEM BACK IN 2012? I CAN ONLY ASSUME THAT THE DEALERSHIP INSTALLED THE ORANGE WEDGE (RECALL # N100118) AT THAT TIME. I CONTACTED THE CHEVROLET OWNERS CENTER AND THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING, NO COVERAGE DUE TO VIN #. THEY DID DOCUMENT MY COMPLAINT WITH CASE # [XXX]. AT THE END OF LAST SEASON I WAS DRIVING WITH MY WIFE IN THE CAR AT NIGHT, ON A BUSY INTERSTATE, IN A POURING RAIN. I WAS IN THE CENTER LANE WHEN THE STABILITY SYSTEM SLAMMED ON MY LEFT FRONT BRAKE. IT HAPPENED FOR JUST AN INSTANT BUT THAT WAS LONG ENOUGH TO SEND ME PARTIALLY INTO THE LANE TO LEFT OF ME. BECAUSE OF THE RAIN THE CAR LOST TRACTION AND GOT A LITTLE "SQUIRRELLY" DURING RECOVERY. IT WAS A VERY SCARY RIDE THAT COULD EASILY HAVE ENDED UP AS A MULTI-CAR CRASH. I COULD USE SOME ASSISTANCE. ON AUGUST 13, 2015, MY 2006 CORVETTE WOULD NOT SHIFT OUT OF REVERSE. THE CAR WAS STUCK IN THAT REVERSE GEAR AND THE SHIFT LEVER WAS NOT ENABLING THE SELECTION OF ANOTHER GEAR. THE SHIFTER MECHANISM ON THIS AUTOMATIC EQUIPPED VEHICLE WAS OPERATIONAL, BUT THE LINKAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION WAS NO LONGER ENGAGED. THE CAR WAS BEING PULLED INTO THE GARAGE WHEN THIS HAPPENED, SO FORTUNATELY I WAS NOT IN A BUSY INTERSECTION, IN A PARKING LOT, OR IN SOME OTHER LOCATION WHERE I, OR SOMEONE ELSE, MIGHT HAVE BEEN IN HARM'S WAY DUE TO A VEHICLE THAT I COULD NO LONGER CONTROL. SINCE THE CAR COULD NOT BE PUT IN NEUTRAL OR PARK, I HAD TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE WITH IT IN REVERSE AND USE THE PARKING BRAKE TO KEEP THE CAR FROM MOVING. SINCE THE SHIFTER MECHANISM COULD STILL MOVE, THE SWITCH ACTIVATING THE "OK TO START" WOULD HAVE ALLOWED THE CAR TO START WHEN PUT IN THE PARK OR NEUTRAL POSITIONS - WHILE THE TRANSMISSION WAS STILL STUCK IN REVERSE; A REAL SAFETY ISSUE. THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM WAS A 50 CENT BUSHING THAT ATTACHES TO THE SHIFT LEVER. THIS BUSHING ALLOWS THE BALL END CONNECTOR OF THE SHIFTER TO ENGAGE A SHIFTER CABLE THAT ACTUATES THE LINKAGE TO THE TRANSMISSION. SO WHEN THAT BUSHING BREAKS, YOU CAN NO LONGER SHIFT THE CAR. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY, MANY PEOPLE OWNING THE GENERATIONS OF C5 (1997-2004) AND C6 (2005-2013) CORVETTES. VEHICLE WILL NOT SHIFT TO PARK AFTER STARTING ENGINE AND ENGAGING THE BRAKE. TRIED RESTARTING AND SHIFTING THE CAR INTO REVERSE SEVERAL TIMES AND IT FINALLY WENT INTO REVERSE AFTER APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES OF TRYING. THE VEHICLE WAS ON A FLAT SURFACE. AFTER READING NEWS AND FORUM ARTICLES, THIS SEEMS TO BE A COMMONLY KNOWN PROBLEM, WITH THE ONLY FIX BEING TO REPLACE THE SHIFTER ASSEMBLY. GM DOES NOT HOWEVER WANT TO ADDRESS THIS. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM.

ANY QUICK SEARCH OF THE WEB WILL SHOW THAT THIS CAR ENGINE, THE LS2 OR 6.2 L ENGINE HAS HAD A DEFECT THAT GM HAS DENIED OVER THE YEARS AND FAILS TO STAND BEHIND AFTER WARRANTY; CRANK SHAFT PULLEY WOBBLE AND WORN RUBBER GASKETS ON THE HARMONIC BALANCER OF THE 2006 MODEL YEAR. TECH BULLETINS HAVE BEEN ISSUED AND THIS TOPIC OF PULLEY WOBBLE AND RUBBER GASKET FAILURE AND IS QUITE THE TALK ON VARIOUS CORVETTE FORUMS. SINCE I AM WELL BEHIND WARRANTY, I HAD TO HAVE THIS DIAGNOSED THROUGH MY LICENSED CERTIFIED AUTO MECHANIC. THIS REPAIR REQUIRES EXTENSIVE LABOR TIME TO REPAIR. SCARED TO SEE THE BILL TOMORROW. GM'S RESPONSE IS I SHOULD OF TAKEN IT TO AN AUTHORIZED CHEVY DEALER. THAT IS HOG WASH BECAUSE SHOULD I HAD DONE THAT, I WOULD PROBABLY STILL HAD TO PAY THEIR EXORBITANT LABOR COSTS AND STILL NOT BE COVERED ON THIS SERIOUS ENGINE DEFECT. IN FACT, I BELIEVE GM HAS RE-DESIGNED THE PART SO WHAT DOES THAT TELL YOU. FAILURE TO FIX WILL JUST HARM THE ENGINE FOR THE FUTURE AND REPLACE BELT AFTER BELT WHEN THE TRUE PROBLEM IS IGNORED BY GM
