IT WAS RAINING, AND APPROXIMATELY 40 DEGREES AS INDICATED BY THE CAR THERMOMETER. I WAS DRIVING AND THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS WERE GOING AND CLEARING THE RAIN PER NORMAL OPERATION. SUDDENLY THE DRIVERS SIDE WIPER ONLY WENT UP ABOUT ONE-QUARTER OF THE WAY OF NORMAL AND THE PASSENGER SIDE WENT CLEAR OVER THE STUCK DRIVERS SIDE WIPER. DESPITE ALL ATTEMPTS TO FIX IT AT THE CLOSEST GAS STATION I COULDN'T FIND OUT WHERE THE PROBLEM OCCURRED, BUT I DID SEE THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE COULD NOT GO UP AND DOWN BY PULLING IT MANUALLY, BUT THE DRIVERS SIDE WOULD FREELY GO UP AND DOWN JUST BY MOVING IT MANUALLY. I COULDN'T SEE MUCH OF ANYTHING AFTER THAT, BUT GOT THE CAR HOME. *TR
I CURRENTLY OWN A 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE LS THAT I HAVE OWNED FOR A YEAR WITH 59,000 MILES. IN THIS VEHICLE I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING POWER LOSS WHILE ACCELERATING ON INTERSTATE, TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES AND REENGAGES AND JERKS VERY HARD WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE. IT WILL NOT ACCELERATE MORE THAN 45 MPH ON INTERSTATE. IT WILL THEN OPERATE NORMALLY AFTER ABOUT 5-10 MILES AFTER TRANSMISSION DISENGAGES AND REENGAGES. ALSO HAS NO POWER OR ACCELERATION WHILE A/C IS ON.
Cooling issues, replaced the thermostat, water pump, reservoir, still having issues. Was in an accident in 2015 and the airbags didn't go off.
2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. CONSUMER WRITES N REGARDS TO VEHICLE SUDDEN ACCELERATION AFTER STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDAL WERE IN CLOSE PROXIMITY OF EACH OTHER AND HE DISCOVERED THEY COULD BE APPLIED AT THE SAME TIME. *JB

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO IGNITION KEY PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED A FEW DAYS AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED THE IGNITION SWITCH TURNED OFF BY ITSELF WHILE MERGING ONTO THE HIGHWAY. THE CONSUMER STATED HER HUSBAND'S RING WAS HOLDING MANY KEYS AND IT APPEARED THAT ONE BECAME WEDGED ON THE STEERING COLUMN. *JB
THE CAR WAS CRANKED WITH REMOTE START, CHILD WAS PUT IN THE CAR, FRONT DOOR WAS CLOSED BY THE WIND WITH KEYS IN THE CAR, ACTUALLY TWO SETS OF KEYS WITH A KEY FOR THE VEHICLE ON THE SETS, AND ALL OF THE DOORS LOCKED NOT RECOGNIZING THESE KEYS WITH THE CAR CRANKED AND THE A CHILD IN THE CAR. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND DEFECT FOR CERTAIN THAT NEEDS TO BE FIXED IMMEDIATELY. *JS

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,200.

THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,000.
WHEN MAKING A SLIGHT CORRECTION ON THE HI-WAY THE STEERING WHEEL FEELS AS IF IT BINDS AND THE AFTER A SHORT TURN OF THE WHEEL IT SUDDENLY TAKES OFF. IT DOES THIS IN EITHER DIRECTION AND YOU END UP WEAVING BACK AND FORTH TRYING TO STAY IN YOUR LANE. THE CAR IS NOW BEGINNING TO DO THIS AT ALL SPEEDS ON THE HI-WAY AND I AM BEGINNING TO FEEL UNSAFE. THERE SEEMS TO BE NO PROBLEM AT SLOW SPEEDS AROUND THE CITY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED BUT WAS ABLE TO BE RESTARTED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE JERKED INCESSANTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE STEERING GEAR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR INSIDE THE CABIN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE AND STRUCK A CURB. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS INVALID. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
I PURCHASED A LEASE VEHICLE (@500 MILEAGE AT THE TIME). A FEW MONTHS LATER, THE MOTOR SOUNDED LIKE I HAD OVER 100,000 MILES. VERY LOUD. I CHANGED THE OIL AT PERMITTED TIME, TOOK IT IN FOR A MECHANIC TEST DRIVE. MECHANIC SAID IT SEEMED FINE. FEEDBACK FROM PASSENGERS WERE AFFIRMING THAT THERE IS DEFINITELY AN ISSUE. IT SEEMS THE COLDER IT IS, THE HARDER IT RUNS. LIKE YOU NEVER CHANGE YOUR OIL, AND THE MUFFLER HAS A HOLE, OR THE MOTOR RUNS REAL HEAVY, LIKE RPMS STICKING. SOMETIMES ITS MORE FAINT. I TRIED HIGHER GRADE GASOLINE, AS ADVISED, THIS DID NOT HELP. MORE IMPORTANTLY. THE DOORS SHOULD DEFINITELY BE RECALLED. THEY ARE A SAFETY CONCERN. THEY SLAM BACK ON YOU EVEN IF OPENED ALL THE WAY, IF ON AN UNEVEN PAVEMENT OR SLIGHT INCLINE. THERE IS ONLY ONE LATCH AT ALL THE WAY OPEN. THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR PROBLEM AND SLAMS BACK ON MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF. I AM CONCERNED FOR OTHERS THAT MAY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE. THERE SHOULD BE A SECOND LATCH OR CATCHING MECHANISM TO PREVENT IT SLAMMING ON YOUR LEGS/HEAD. *TR

THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. NO POLICE REPORT WAS FILED AND NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THE TECHNICIAN MADE UNKNOWN REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000.
DRIVER'S DOOR WAS DEMOLISHED AND SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAG DIDN'T DEPLOY. *JS
3RD TIME SINCE PURCHASING IN MARCH 2014 THAT HEATER AND OR AIR CONDITIONING HAS STOPPED WORKING. WAS TOLD FIRST 2 TIMES THAT IT WAS THE MOTOR AND SENSOR, THOSE WERE REPLACED NOW WHILE MAKING YET ANOTHER ROAD TRIP 4 HOURS FROM OUR HOME WITH OUR CHILD THE HEAT WENT OUT. HEATER WILL NOT BLOW WARM AIR OR ANY AIR FOR THAT MATTER AND DEFROSTED WILL NOT WORK RESULTING IN US STOPPING EVERY FEW MILES TO MANUALLY WIPE THE WINDSHIELD DOWN. *TR
WATER PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED DUE TO LEAK, COMPUTER REPROGRAMED TO FIX STEERING WHEEL CATCH, BATTERY TERMINAL CABLE REPLACED FOR UNKNOWN REASON. ALL THIS ON A BRAND NEW 2014 CRUZE. WTF? NOT TO MENTION INITIAL DRIVE SHAFT REPAIRS. THOUGHT THIS WAS AN AMERICAN MADE CAR WITH QUALITY AMERICAN PARTS, WORST FIRST NEW CAR BUYER EXPERIENCE EVER. MAKE IT RIGHT GM. *TR
THE FRONT WINDSHIELD FOGS UP OR GETS A FILM ON IT MAKING IT A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE AT NIGHT WHEN LIGHTS ARE COMING TOWARDS YOU IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD. THE SIDE WINDOWS IN EXTREME COLD ALSO FREEZE ON THE INSIDE AND DO NOT THAW UNTIL AFTER THE CAR HAS SAT. IT IS HARD TO SAY IF THIS IS A FILM OR FOGGED BECAUSE IT HAPPENS WHEN THE DEFROSTERS ARE ON. I CLEAN THE WINDOWS BUT IT KEEPS HAPPENING. *TR
CAN'T REMOVE KEY WHEN CAR IS IN PARK. TWO DIFFERENT TIMES NOW. ALSO CAR WITH 900 MILES ON IT FAILED TO START AND KEY WAS STUCK THIS TIME ALSO. TOW TRUCK DRIVER CALLED, HE ALSO COULD NOT REMOVE KEY. CHECKED CAR FOR ANYTHING LEFT ON, FOUND NOTHING. JUMPED CAR, IT STARTED, HE MOVED THE SHIFTER LEVER ROUGHLY SEVERAL TIMES, KEY CAME OUT. TOLD US NOT TO TURN CAR OFF AND TAKE IT TO DEALERSHIP. DRIVER THOUGHT BATTERY WAS BAD ALSO. TOOK CAR IN. THEY KEPT CAR THREE DAYS. WERE TOLD TWICE BY SERVICE MAN BATTERY HAD A BAD CELL. WHEN CALLED TO PICK UP CAR, SERVICE TOLD US WE MUST HAVE LEFT SOMETHING ON. THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG. AND WE MUST NOT HAVE SHIFTER IN PARK. LEFT DEALERSHIP, NO BATTERY REPLACED, NO REAL ANSWER TO WHY KEY DIDN'T COME OUT. DID NOT EVEN PUT CAR ON A CHARGER TO GET BATTERY BACK TO 100%. *TR

4 TIMES THIS MONTH I WAS SITTING STILL AND ALL LIGHTS ON DASH CAME ON.THE CAR ONLY HAS 1100 MILES.THE TRAC MALF LIGHT,BRAKE LIGHT,STEERING LIGHT ECT.THIS CAR IS ONLY 4 MONTHS OLD AND ALREADY GIVING PROBLEMS LIKE THIS.VERY UN HAPPY WITH CAR. *TR
2014 CHEVROLET CRUZ LTZ EXHAUST FUMES/MOLD/ANTIFREEZE SMELLS CAUSED SICKNESS, BAD ALLERGIES, EYES, NOSE, LUNGS PROBLEMS. *MW
TPMS WENT ON THANKSGIVING MORNING TIRE PRESSURE WAS 10. FILLED TIRE UP TO 32, WENT BACK OUT LATER TIRE PRESSURE WAS AT 10. CHECK IT BEFORE GOING TO SLEEP, TIRE PRESSURE WAS AT 4, FILLED IT UP TO 37. CHECKED IT IN THE MORNING AND IT WAS 4. TOOK CAR TO DISCOUNT TIRE, TECHNICIAN SAID THERE WAS A BUBBLE ON MY TIRE AND IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED NEEDED A NEW TIRE. 163.00 LATER. THIS CAR IS ONLY SIX MONTHS OLD AND I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO BE REPLACING IT. THEY ARE FIRESTONE TIRES AND I AM VERY ANGRY THAT I HAVE TO PUT A NEW TIRE ON MY BRAND NEW CAR. *TR
BRAKES LOCKED UP (ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM FAULTY) CAUSING THE CAR TO SKID RATHER THAN SLOW DOWN DURING STOP AND GO TRAFFIC. I WAS UNABLE TO TURN THE STEERING WHEEL AND COULD NOT EVEN TRY TO SWERVE TO AVOID THE OTHER VEHICLE. CAR WAS UNABLE TO STOP IN TIME AND THERE WAS A COLLISION. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING ON A 50 MILE TRIP ( EACH WAY) 100 TOTAL, OVER THE WEEKEND I NOTICED AT TRAVELING SPEEDS OF 65-70 MPH THAT THE STEERING WAS ALMOST UNRESPONSIVE FOR A SECOND, OR SLOPPY, LIKE IT HAD A DEAD SPOT AND WASN'T RESPONDING. I WAS NOTICING, THAT WHEN I WENT TO ADJUST THE STEERING THERE WAS LIKE A SPOT IN THE STEERING WHERE IT WOULDN'T REACT WHICH I FOUND VERY UNSAFE. UPON DECELERATING AT SLOWER SPEEDS ON REGULAR ROADS AROUND 30-40MPH I NOTICED THE PROBLEM STILL BEING THERE. I FIND IT EXTREMELY UNSAFE AND ITS LIKE THE STEERING ISN'T RESPONDING PROPERLY WHICH IN THE EVENT OF NEEDING TO AVOID AN ACCIDENT CAN END UP CAUSING ONE. I ASK THAT SOMEONE PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS MATTER. I DID SOME GOOGLE SEARCHES ONLINE AND HAVE FOUND THAT THERE ARE MANY OWNERS OF CHEVROLET CRUZE VEHICLES HAVING THESE PROBLEMS. I WILL BE CONTACTING MY DEALER IN THE MORNING. UNFORTUNATELY THEY HAVEN'T BEEN VERY GOOD AT FIGURING OUT OTHER PROBLEMS THAT I HAVE HAD IN THE PAST. AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS THE STEERING STICKS. MAKING IT SCARY TO DRIVE AND DANGEROUS. *TR
MY 2014 CHEVY CRUZE ECO WAS HIT IN THE RIGHT REAR OF MY VEHICLE BY A 2015 CHRYSLER THAT WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 40-45MPH. MY VEHICLE WAS GOING AROUND 20MPH. ONCE HIT IN THE REAR I WAS FLUNG FORWARD AND TO THE LEFT, CAUSING ME TO HIT MY HEAD ON THE LEFT A-PILLAR AND MOMENTARILY BLACKING OUT AND THEN WENT FORWARD MORE JUST STOPPING BEFORE HITTING MY HEAD ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THEN I HIT THE VEHICLE IN FRONT OF ME. NO AIRBAGS WERE DEPLOYED, NOT A SINGLE ONE. THE ONSTAR SYSTEM SAID THEY DETECTED AN AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT BUT NOTHING EXTERNALLY DEPLOYED IN VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THAT IF AIRBAGS ACTUALLY DEPLOYED IT COULD HAVE LESSENED OR STOPPED MY CONCUSSION I RECEIVED FROM MY ACCIDENT. *TR
PROBLEM: SMELL OF GAS UPON RESTART OF VEHICLE. SUMMARY; I HAD DRIVEN FROM CHICAGO TO BROWNSTOWN, MI (WHICH IS A DISTANCE OF ABOUT 250 - 300 MILES) WHERE I DROPPED SOMEONE OFF. STOPPED FOR ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THEN STARTED DRIVING FROM BROWNSTOWN TO CARLETON. WHEN LEAVING BROWNSTOWN, I DID ACCELERATE A LITTLE MORE FORCEFULLY THAN USUAL TO GET AWAY FROM TAILGATER, AND CONTINUED THE TRIP TO CARLETON (TOTAL DISTANCE ABOUT 7 MILES). STOPPED AT STORE FOR ABOUT 10 - 15 MINUTES FOR GROCERIES. WHEN I RESTARTED THE VEHICLE IN CARLETON STORE PARKING LOT, THERE WAS A DISTINCT SMELL OF GASOLINE. THE SMELL DISSIPATED AFTER A MINUTE, BUT I ALSO OPENED THE WINDOW TO HELP WITH THAT. TODAY I GOOGLED CRUZE GAS SMELL TO SEE IF ANY OTHER PEOPLE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING, AND I FOUND SEVERAL COMMENTS DESCRIBING GAS SMELL ON RESTART OF CAR. I AM REPORTING THIS, ONLY TO BRING IT TO YOUR ATTENTION. I WILL BE TAKING MY CRUZE INTO THE DEALERSHIP SOON FOR ANOTHER ISSUE WITH FLUID LEAKING FROM CAR (RECEIVED LETTER YESTERDAY, AND HAVE OBSERVED SAME), AND WILL REPORT THE GAS SMELL. ALTHOUGH NOTHING HAS HAPPENED, A GAS SMELL SEEMS LIKE A POTENTIALLY SERIOUS PROBLEM. I AM HOPING THE PROBLEM WILL BE IDENTIFIED AND FIXED BEFORE A SERIOUS INCIDENT OCCURS. *TR
WINDOWS STEAM AND FOG FREQUENTLY AND THE FAN DOES NOT CLEAR ALL WINDOWS. WINDSHIELD CENTER WILL ONLY DEFROST WHEN ON LOW SPEED. IT WILL NOT MAINTAIN A CLEAR VIEW UNLESS ON HIGH SPEED AND THEN SOMETIMES THE LOWER CORNERS OF THE WINDSHIELD STAY STEAMED OR FOGGED.. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 65, THE CAR JOLTED TO THE LEFT UNEXPECTEDLY AND THEN CORRECTED. IT DIDN'T FEEL RIGHT SO I GOT OFF FREEWAY EXIT AND PULLED INTO A PARKING LOT. AS I ENTERED THE LOT THE RIGHT FRONT WHEEL SEVERED FROM THE AXEL AND CAR SKIDDED TO A STOP. THE CAR HAD A RECALL RIGHT AFTER I BOUGHT CAR IN MAY, FOR A FRONT AXEL RIGHT HALF SHAFT FRACTURE. THIS WAS REPAIRED IN AUGUST. *TR
AIRBAGS FRONT AND SIDE FAILED TO DEPLOY IN A T-BONE TYPE CRASH APPROX TRAVELING 40 MPH, CAUSING 12K WORTH OF DAMAGE TO THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT WHEEL FELL OFF AND BROKE THE FRONT TIE ROD & AXEL, AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.
THE TWO FRONT WINDOWS BOTH STOPPED WORKING WITHIN A YEAR OF HAVING THE CAR. THE READ DRIVER SIDE WINDOW ALSO IS MAKING A SOUND THAT SOON WILL STOP WORKING. THE CAR AT THE TIME HAD LESS THAN 9000 MILES WHEN THEY STOPPED WORKING WITH 98% OF THE TIME ONLY HAVING THE ONE PERSON IN THE VEHICLE (DRIVER). NO KIDS PLAYING AROUND WITH SWITCHES NO CRASHES. BOTH WINDOWS JUST STOPPED WORKING. SOMETHING INSIDE BROKE.
OUR CHEVY CRUZE 2014 LTZ HAS A PUSH IGNITION BUTTON TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON. I DROPPED MY HUSBAND OFF AT WORK AND DROVE TO A SHOP 20 MILES AWAY. WHEN I TURNED OFF THE VEHICLE, THE WARNING MESSAGE DISPLAYED NO KEY TRANSMITTER (THIS WAS THE ONLY TIME THIS MESSAGE BECAME PRESENT). I REALIZED MY HUSBAND HAD THE KEYS IN HIS POCKET. I COULD NO LONGER TURN ON THE CAR OR DO ANYTHING WITH IT BESIDES LOCK IT. I HAD TO CRAWL THROUGH THE BACK SEAT, TO USE THE TRUNK SAFETY LATCH (SINCE NO MANUAL TRUNK RELEASE!) AND GET MY STROLLER OUT FOR MY BABY. THE CAR WILL SIGNAL IF PASSENGERS SEAT BELT IS OFF WHEN THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING, BUT IT SEEMS VERY STRANGE THE CAR DROVE THE 20 MILES WITHOUT A KEY AND NO WARNING THERE WAS NO KEY IN THE VEHICLES PREMISES. THIS REALLY COULD HAVE BEEN A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE HAD I STOPPED IN AN EMERGENCY LANE AND BEEN STRANDED. WINDSHIELD FOGGED UP AND I COULD NOT SEE. DEFROSTER AND HEATING WINDSHIELD DID NOT CLEAR THE WINDOW SO I COULD SEE OUT, AND I HAD TO STOP BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE OUT FORWARD AT ALL. DEALER CHECKED THE CONDITION AND OF COURSE, COULD NOT DUPLICATE! THERE IS A FIX ON THE CHEVROLET CRUZE FORUM BUT I DO NOT WANT TO ATTEMPT TO DO IT MYSELF! SOMETHING MUST BE DONE ABOUT THIS OR I WILL BE FORCED TO 'LEMON-LAW' THIS CAR AND I DO NOT WANT TO BE FORCED TO DO THAT! FUMES FROM ENGINE COMPARTMENT, ARE BEING DRAWN INTO THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR DUCTS. VERY NOTICEABLE AT START UP, AND WHILE SITTING IDLE. ( STOP LIGHTS, IN TRAFFIC, ETC THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW. IN AUGUST 2014
I PARALLEL PARKED MY CAR ON A HILLSIDE STREET WITH THE FRONT WHEELS ANGLED TO TOUCH THE CONCRETE CURB PER THE CITY'S HILLSIDE PARKING RULES. I REMOVED THE KEY AND LOCKED THE DOORS. WHEN I RETURNED TO DRIVE HOME AFTER THE CAR WAS SAFELY PARKED FOR ABOUT 1 HOUR ( TIME WAS ABOUT 6:30 PM--STILL DAYLIGHT) I COULD NOT TURN THE IGNITION KEY TO UNLOCK THE ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK. NONE OF THE ELECTRICAL ACCESSORIES WORKED BECAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL WAS LOCKED. I COULDN'T OPEN THE ELECTRIC WINDOWS, SO I WAS SWEATING WITH ALL THE WINDOWS CLOSED. I WAS ABLE TO CALL ONSTAR WITH MY CELL PHONE FOR HELP AND THEY CONFIRMED THAT MY BATTERY WAS FULLY CHARGED AND THEY HAD ME TRY MY OTHER IGNITION KEY AND TO REPEATEDLY TURN/ROCK THE STEERING WHEEL FORCEFULLY TO UNLOCK IT WITH THE KEY IN THE IGNITION. AFTER NOTHING WORKED, THE ONSTAR SERVICE PERSON SAID HE WOULD CALL A TOW TRUCK FOR SERVICE. AFTER WE HUNG UP, AND I WAS WAITING, I TRIED THE IGNITION KEY AGAIN, AND THE KEY TURNED AND UNLOCKED THE ELECTRIC STEERING LOCK. I COULD START THE CAR TO DRIVE AGAIN.I CALLED ONSTAR BACK TO CANCEL THE TOW SERVICE CALL. I TOOK THE CAR TO MY CHEVROLET DEALER 3 DAYS LATER FOR A ROUTINE MAINTENANCE APPOINTMENT I HAD MADE 3 WEEKS BEFORE. NOTHING THEY COULD DO, EXCEPT ADVISE ME NOT TO ANGLE THE FRONT WHEEL WHEN I PARKED & LOCKED THE CAR. THIS DOES NOT SEEM LIKE A SAFE WAY TO DESIGN AN STEERING IGNITION LOCK. I FOUND A WHITE METALLIC GUNK ON DRIVEWAY. I WENT TO INVESTIGATE FOR LEAKAGE, AFTER DEALER HAD ONE WEEK AHEAD APPOINTMENT AVAILABLE. I FOUND RUST ON THE WELDS OF THE MUFFLER, RUST ON THE HANGER RODS FOR THE MUFFLER, RUST ON NUTS AND BOLTS THROUGHOUT THE UNDER CARRIAGE, RUST ON METAL PARTS OF THE DRIVE SHAFT, RUST ON THE BACK TIRE TRIMS, RUST ON THE ENGINE BLOCK, RUST ON THE SUSPENSION, RUST ON THE SHOCKS, AND THE LIST GOES ON, ON THE MANY MORE PARTS OF THE UNDER CARRIAGE. NOT JUST RUST BUT CORROSIVE RUSTING, THAT JUST DIDN'T START OVER THE LAST THREE WEEKS. DEALER HAD TO FAIL TO PUT CAR UP ON RACK UPON RECEIVING FROM CHEVROLET, AND FAILED BEFORE HANDING IT. THIS TYPE OF RUSTING HAPPENS ONLY AFTER MAYBE THREE YEARS OR MORE AT LEAST ACCORDING TO PEOPLE I'VE SHOWN THE PHOTOS TO, WHO KNOW CARS. DEALERSHIP HAS A GM EXPERT COMING IN TO EXPECT THE CAR. WHILE DRIVING IN STRAIGHT LINE ON HIGHWAY THE STEERING LOCKED OR HIT A DEAD SPOT WHILE TRYING TO MAKE A MINOR CORRECTION TO STAY WITHIN MY LANE. I FELT A SLIGHT RESISTANCE THOUGH THE WHEEL TO MY STEERING CORRECTION AND THEN THE RESISTANCE WALL WOULD BREAK AND THE CAR WOULD RAPIDLY JERKED TO THE DIRECTION OF THE INPUT. FELT ALMOST LIKE A NOTCH IN A RATCHET. THIS PROBLEM WOULD REPLICATE THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION TO CORRECT FOR THE INITIAL OVER STEER INPUT CAUSED FROM PREVIOUS DEAD SPOT. CAR WOULD WONDER IN LANE CHASING STEERING INPUTS AND DISTRACTING THE DRIVER DUE TO FULL ATTENTION NEEDING TO BE USED TO STEER THE CAR WITH OUT DRIFTING. 2014 CHEVROLET CRUZE. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO FRONT AXLE RIGHT HALF SHAFT FRACTURE RECALL REPLACEMENT PARTS ISSUE. *SMD THE CONSUMER RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE IN MAY 2014. HOWEVER, THE AXLE WASN'T REPLACED UNTIL AUGUST 2014. THE CONSUMER STATED THE DEALER SHOULDN'T HAVE ALLOWED HER TO CONTINUE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. ON OCTOBER 16, 2014 ANOTHER DEALER FOUND THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE OUTER CV BOO LEAKING, THROWING GREASE ON THE RIGHT FRONT BRAKE. CAUSING THE BRAKE TO BECOME CONTAMINATED AND DIFFICULT TO GRAB. THE RIGHT FRONT AXLE SHAFT ASSEMBLY AND FRONT BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED. *JB
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A BRAND NEW 2014 CHEVY CRUZE. ON THE WAY TO WORK FOUR DAYS AFTER PURCHASING IT, I WAS SIDE SWIPED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AT 55 MPH. MY VEHICLE WAS PUT INTO A SPIN, I HIT A CURB AND SNAPPED THE PASSENGER SIDE SUB FRAME, SPUN OUT, AND MY VEHICLE WENT UP INTO FLAMES. IT WAS ENGULFED WITHIN 20 SECONDS OF THE ACCIDENT. I HAD TO KICK THE DRIVER DOOR OUR BECAUSE IT WOULDN'T OPEN. I WAS LUCKY ENOUGH TO GET OUT OF THE CAR BEFORE BEING BURNED. THERE WERE NO DEATHS, I WAS THE ONLY OCCUPANT OF THE VEHICLE AND I WAS ABLE TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WITH A MODERATE CONCUSSION, AND MULTIPLE BRUISES. HAD THERE BEEN ANYONE ELSE IN THE CAR, THE OUTCOME WOULD'VE BEEN DIFFERENT. THE VEHICLE HAD 200 MILES ON IT AT THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. I DON'T RECOMMEND BUYING A CHEVY, THEY ARE NOT SAFE VEHICLES. AFTER PURCHASING THE 2014 CRUZE ON JULY 29, 2014, I DROVE IT TO MY RESIDENCE WHICH WAS FOR 6 MILES AND PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. I PLACED THE SHIFT LEVEL IN THE PARK POSITION AND SET THE EMERGENCY BRAKE. MY GRAND DAUGHTER, AGE 16, ASKED IF SHE COULD TEST DRIVE THE CAR. AFTER ENTERING THE VEHICLE, SHE RELEASED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND ATTEMPTED TO START IT. THE CAR WOULD NOT START AND UNKNOWN TO HER WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START, THE VEHICLE SLOWLY WENT BACKWARDS INTO THE STREET. THE SHIFT LEVER IN THE VEHICLE WAS STUCK IN PARK AND WOULD NOT MOVE AND IT WOULD NOT START. I CALLED ON STAR AND ASKED THEM TO RUN A TEST ON THE CAR TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG WITH IT. THE LADY CAME BACK WITH NO KNOWN PROBLEMS FROM THEIR TEST. I ASKED AND SHE CALLED A TOW TRUCK TO RETURN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER. THE CRUZE WAS REPAIRED THE NEXT DAY. THE PROBLEM WAS IDENTIFIED WITH A DEFECTIVE SHIFT CABLE. THE CASING AROUND THE SHIFT CABLE AT THE TRANSMISSION CRACKED CAUSING CABLE NOT TO RELEASE LEAVING TRANSMISSION IN FREE MODE. I WAS UPSET AND ANGRY WITH THE DEALERSHIP AND GM BECAUSE THE VEHICLE BROKE DOWN IN THE FIRST 6 MILES. I THEN CHECKED FOR RECALLS ON THE VEHICLE AND FOUND GM RECALL NUMBER 14048 AND NHTSA RECALL 14V092, WHICH IDENTIFIED MY DEFECT EXACTLY, BUT DID NOT INCLUDE MY VIN IN THE RECALL ORDER. I CALLED GM AND EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS THEY ASSIGNED A CASE NUMBER AND A VERY NICE LADY CALLED AND ASKED WHAT WOULD MAKE ME HAPPY. MY MAIN CONCERN WAS THE SAFETY OF MY FAMILY AND OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE BOUGHT THE CRUZE WITH A DEFECTIVE SHIFT LEVER CABLE. ONCE A PART IS IDENTIFIED AS DEFECTIVE IT SHOULD NO LONGER BE USED AND IT SHOULD BE REPLACED ON ALL MANUFACTURED VEHICLES. I AM A VERY FRUSTRATED MOTHER WITH THIS VEHICLE PURCHASE. I PURCHASED A CHEVROLET CRUZE FOR MY SON AS A GIFT FOR HIS HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION FEBRUARY 2, 2014. A MONTH LATER THERE WAS A STOP ON SALES BECAUSE OF THE DANGEROUS RECALL FOR THE FRONT AXLE RIGHT HALF THAT CAN BREAK. THE CAR HAS BEEN SITTING IN THE DEALER FOR 2 MONTHS AND I AM MAKING PAYMENTS ON A VEHICLE THAT WE CANNOT EVEN USE. I KNOW IT IS NOT THE DEALERS FAULT , IT IS THE GMC MANUFACTURING COMPANY.
