Why is this not resolved with a remedy as yet? It is over six months now. This is unacceptable.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the door locks were opening and closing independently. The contact stated that the instrument cluster was also flashing several unknown warning lights. The contact stated that the heater and the A/C were also functioning independently. The contact stated that the failure was intermittent at first but became a constant failure. Additionally, the contact stated that the transmission occasionally slipped out of gear, almost causing the vehicle to stall, making the steering wheel difficult to turn. The contact had not taken the vehicle to a local dealer or independent mechanic to be diagnosed or repaired. The contact replaced the 12-Volt battery and the fuse box; however, the failure reoccurred. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 177,000.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V870000 (Air Bags); however, the part to do the repair was not yet available. No further information was provided. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Front end of vehicle collided with a deer. As a result of the crash, the car caught fire destroying the entire front of the vehicle. I came across an article that somewhat describes the details of my incident. However I was told there was no correlation with the recall from GM below from 2011/2012. Fuel system, gasoline: Storage Tank assembly: Mounting Recall date 2012-06-21 Recall no. 12V289000 GENERAL MOTORS (GM) IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011 AND 2012 CHEVROLET CRUZE VEHICLES MANUFACTURED FROM OCTOBER 2. 2009, THROUGH MAY 14, 2012. The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact heard a knocking sound, and the vehicle was not accelerating as intended. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and diagnosed with a failed catalytic converter. The contact was informed that the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 119,534.
I have had my 2014 Chevy Cruze for 2 years now and have kept up with regular maintenance. My vehicle rocks back and forth while on the brakes, there’s an constant issue with the traction control system, my automatic lights don’t work (I have to many turn on the light in order for the brake lights to turn on), the vehicle shakes side to side when braked, and so much more. When I take the vehicle to be looked at every mechanic and shop tells me there’s nothing wrong or they don’t know.
I have had a coolant leak issue with my car, which I bought brand new, multiple times. My mechanic has had to replace the water pump and or fix coolant issues multiple times. It happens every year around the same time. I called Chevrolet a couple years ago begging them to research for a recall. If you look online, there are multiple forums, webpages, and discussions of the same issue with the same make and model. Costing consumers hundreds and thousands of dollars for repairs, repeat repairs. Please address this! Chevrolet offers no help!
Recall on my car has no remedy and has had a safety recall for 7 months. I have tried to contact both chevy and GM for a solution as I do not feel safe driving my car and they both told me I just have to wait. So now I am unable to drive my car out of fear for the safety of myself and others, and they will provide no solution other than to just wait and allow my car to be unused for an undetermined amount of time.
The car would randomly stop working while driving. One of the times it stopped, it stopped while driving on the freeway.
NOTE: 628 SAFETY COMPLAINTS has been submitted to the NHTSA. Major Complaints submitted by several consumers for the VIN: [XXX] ; 2014; CHEVROLET CRUZE and this vehicle has NOT been removed from circulation. This vehicle should be considered a SEVERE Safety Violation and removed from the road. My son-in-law purchased this vehicle for his daughter back in Aug 2023 and within the first week the car ran hot and couldn't be driven. The car was taken back to the dealer but the dealer refused to take it because there was no warranty added to the purchase. It has been sitting parked because we were told the engine was so bad it should be totally replaced. We're positive the dealer was well aware of the vehicles condition (there was NO visual indication) the vehicle was in such poor condition. The dealer even had an on site mechanic who assured the buyer that the car was in good condition but they both the (owner and mechanic) decided to take advantage selling the car anyway. Can you direct us to whom ever can assist us in getting help in resolving this issue. Regarding the following questions, I feel is irrelevant as all past 628 complaints has been submitted in your system. Leaking 90% of my coolant within a 60 sec time period
The exact scenario discussed in the 2015 NHTSA Service Bulletin No 14371B, also happened to my 2014 Chevrolet Cruze with a 1.8L engine rather than the 1.4L engine referenced. The original manufacturer water pump was confirmed to be the source of the coolant leak by an independent service center. The part is available for inspection upon request. No engine lights went off, I personally observed the leaking fluid on the ground because of the previous incident noted below. These repairs cost thousands and have done an unknown amount of damage to the engine. A previous coolant leak issue was identified 1 year prior with the thermostat housing. This caused a significant rise in the temperature of the car's engine, which ultimately led to the car being unsafe to drive as it would begin to overheat within minutes of beginning to drive. The warning sign "Engine Hot, AC Off" message appeared, the chiming sound was heard, and I was luckily able to pull into my driveway only 5 minutes later. If I had not been close to home, I would have been forced to pull off on the side of the interstate which is exceptionally unsafe and illegal. The alerts did not appear until the engine was on the brink of overheating. This was confirmed by an independent service center and the part is no longer in my possession.
The electrical power steering goes in and out while driving. This issue is intermittent. Fuses and ground on electrical system have been check with no issues found.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle unintendedly accelerated. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed and determined that the catalytic converter and the up and down screen sensors needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. Additionally, the vehicle had started to overheat. The contact stated that the temperature gauge was in the red zone. The contact stopped the vehicle and became aware that the coolant reservoir was almost empty. The contact added almost a gallon of coolant. The contact stated that the coolant leaked out onto the driveway. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer, and it was determined that the water pump needed to be replaced. The water pump was replaced. The contact had taken the vehicle to another dealer where it was diagnosed with a defective water pump and by appearance the pump had not been replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact researched online and related the failure to TSB Number: 14371B - Engine Coolant Leak from the Water Pump (Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 105,481.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that the "Service Air Bag" warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The mechanic determined that there was a defect with the air bag system. The dealer and the manufacturer were notified of the failure and confirmed that there were no recalls on the VIN. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 167,000.
Recall on the airbag but not showing up in the Chevy dealership and my airbag light has been on for almost 2 years and it shows up on my app that I have a recall
both cataltic converters are cracked. There was a recall on some 2014 chevy cruze for higher tempatures in exhaust that might cause this issue.
Issue 1: Service stabilitrak and flashing check engine light, has been repaired multiple times. Loss of power and shaking while driving. Replaced ignition coil pack and spark plugs. Check engine code misfire. Issue 2: Thermostat sensor, check engine light, display on dash says AC off due to high engine temp, radiator fan constantly running, engine temp gauge stuck on cold. Thermostat has been replaced multiple times
I was going down road and car shut off and immediately came back on and down road it did it again and all dash lights and interior light came on and had to restart car and dash said service sterilitrak soon
I had tried to enter my address is in Canada not the states… I have had to fix my car couple times and issue has not been resolved as I would get a dashboard warning that the oil pressure is low and to turn off the vehicle. The coolant overheat to the point it’s boiling. There is a recall for this issue however not sure why this vehicle does not qualify as it’s a safety hazard
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked, there was coolant leaking onto the ground. The vehicle was diagnosed by an independent mechanic however, the cause of the failure could not be determined. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and confirmed that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 101,000.
On dash it says 1. engine overheated; idle engine 2. A/c off due to high engine temp 3. Fan will spin in high speed and stays on when you turn off the car
i believe it is the ignition switch, my car has been chugging or hesitating while driving and you can also feel it when you are sitting idling and while one the park position. i’ve also read that there are several others that own a cruze and have this issue. Sometimes as well you stick the key in the ignition and there is no connection no noise as like it’s trying to turn over you have to continue to turn the key off and on to finally get a connection and sometimes when you drive and then park and turn the key off the car tries to restart by it’s self. i believe these are issues that seriously need fixed by gm or chevy- no one should have to pay the price of a car for this to occur! i also do all recommended maintenance as suggested to my vehicle. i am taking the vehicle to be fixed on 5-9-23
When I took my vehicle to the dealer on 2-24-23 they inform me my head gasket failed the my engine wasn’t any good due to overheating the coolant was leaking inside the engine. I took the vehicle to the dealer when antifreeze wouldn’t stay in the reservoir and white smoke from the exhaust and as 4-12-23 my vehicle is still at the dealer.
the negative battery cable terminal clamp has an insufficient crimp at the battery negative terminal causing intermittent issues with the vehicle. Radio/HVAC Display has turned off and on; the Antilock Brake System, Service Traction System, Service Stabilitrac and Steering vehicle messages come on and off; the turn signal sound may not be heard; “Service Steering” displays in the Driver Information Center (DIC); and the interior and exterior lighting flickers. Power steering assist has also be lost, and greater effort has been needed to turn the steering wheel at low speeds or while the vehicle is stopped. This is a known safety issue and SB-100-57574-8899 was previously issued for some but not all of the Chevy Cruze models and my 2014 should have been included in this recall.
I’m reporting a engine failure in my 2014 Chevy Cruze due to anti-freeze leak I took my vehicle the the Jefferson Chevrolet dealership for repair and they charge me over $3,700 in repairs and then told I had engine failure now my vehicle sitting in the driveway non-repaired. Also being dealing with the dealership every since January 31, 2023
The car was inspected the engine head gasket is failing
Our 2014 Chevy Cruze is once again having the catalytic convertor fail. We took the car in on 12/04/19 as the maintenance light came on and the dealership said the catalytic convertor was failing and needed to be replaced otherwise it would damage the engine. We had it replaced with a "brand new" catalytic convertor at the Chevrolet dealership. Now we are being told by a different repair shop that the catalytic convertor is "failing again". The maintenance light came on about a week ago so we took it in to be diagnosed. Again catalytic convertor failing. This is very dangerous as our young daughter now drives that car and drives back and forth to college. Should this fail and cause the vehicle to stop on a busy highway this will put her and her passengers in grave danger. This is one of many online articles that state a catalytic convertor should last 10 years. If not properly replaced by Chevrolet then we will have to put on the 3rd part in less than 9 years: https://www.cars.com/articles/how-often-should-i-replace-my-catalytic-converter-1420683869829/ Chevrolet gives a 8-year/80,000 miles: https://www.cruzetalk.com/threads/8-year-80-000-mile-warranty.235259/ This is the second replacement of the same part, obviously GM part suppliers are installing sub-par and unsafe equipment on their vehicles.

I was involved in an accident at 70mph and the airbags did not deploy and the seat belts did not catch as a result I had to several injuries and luckily my 3 year old daughters car seat protected her
Loss of steering cause to side collision into bridge at 70mph no air bags deployed and no seat belts locked cause bodily injuries
My vehicle had a leak in the turbo coolant return line also my vehicle ran hot so I couldn’t drive and cause me two days from work. I had the vehicle inspected by an independent service center. Coolant would leak on the ground.
my headgasket blow due to excessive overheating or other problems i’m not 100 percent sure. i’m not sure if my vehicle is available for inspection upon request. my head gasket blown on the highway, this is very unsafe due to cars around me going excessive speeds. chevrolet recalled some 2013/2014 cruze models due too problems with the head gasket. it’s UNKNOWN if my vehicle has been inspected by the manufacturer, police, insurance representatives or others. right before my head gasket blown my engine light cut on.
The car catalytic converter failed again. It failed once before in 2017. The dealer fixed it as it was under warranty and GM had a recall on it. There was a check engine light that came on. Took it to the Chevy dealer. It was diagnosed the the catalytic converter failed. To repair it the dealership is charging me $3600.00 for it. This should be a manufacturing defect as the same problem happened and should be covered by the manufacture. GM is aware of this problem and still do not want to address it.
My car often loses power unexpectedly in the middle of a turn in an intersection and once while exiting a busy road. Twice it has died upon arrival at destinations and yet the battery has indicated when tested as fully charged. The key indicator is the radio system turns off for a second or two and then automatically restarts and the car with it. When this occurs the car is unable to be driven as the wheel will not turn. I have informed the local Chevy dealership near me and test was done with no error codes reported. What I have had to do is remove the battery cable and replace it and it seems to make the car work for a little longer until it starts the process again with the radio. I had work done to repair the window motor and that is when I first notified Chevy (I will have to locate the date). I have given permission for my friend to drive the car and he has seen this occur with the radio but did not notice if the car shut down.
The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the vehicle in front applied the brakes unexpectedly, causing the contact to rear-end their vehicle. The contact stated the check engine and the traction control warning lights were illuminated before the accident. The contact stated no air bags were deployed. The contact stated no one was injured nor sought medical attention. Police officers went to the location of the accident but the contact was unable if a police report filed. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle was towed to a towing lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000,
My vehicle has under 80,000 miles and the catalytic converter is already bad. Its causing engine issues and the vehicle to jerk forward when stopped.
As of today, 9/15/22, I have had to replace my coolant housing system 3 times within one year. There is a crack that is constantly in it. Today, while I’m the highway traveling 75 mph, my car overheated and begin to idle on the highway putting myself and others at risk. It wasn’t due to coolant not being in the car, because it was filled this morning(9/15/22). There were no warning signs that my vehicle gave me. It wasn’t inspected since the last time I got the coolant housing fixed in June of 2022.
My reverse camera stays on for a few minutes after putting it in drive which is distracting. I keep looking down at the screen to see how long it takes to go out and back to my radio screen. The trunk randomly opens even when I am driving and then it won't open at all. The Bluetooth randomly cuts out while I am driving and talking on the phone which causes me to become distracted while driving. There is an issue when I put gas in the car as well. I have bought 2 gas caps, the one on there now is OEM dealer cap. The cap is on with 3-4 clicks, no check engine light but when I stop at a light, the car feels like it going to stall. No lights come on when it does that.
My front catalytic convertor has gone out at 160,000 miles heard it could possibly be die to ECM?
car lost power
Power steering forums say there a recall my car and light is on. So is there ? Manufactured july 2013.
Turbochager is malfunctioning. The engine could have seized and since its mostly highway driving to get anywhere that could be bad. The problem has been confirmed through a auto shop. Not inspected by anyone else. There are no warning lamps. Message was low oil. checked it and there was no oil in the car.
The car overheats due to the water pump and coolant leaks .

The contact owns a 2014 Chevrolet Cruze. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated, and the message “Low Engine Power” was displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle lost motive power immediately afterwards. The contact had to wait sometimes before being able to restart the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the turbo supercharger had failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000.
I was driving in a heavy rain storm and the drivers side wiper stopped working. Upon inspection there seems to be a recall on certain cruze vehicles for this problem.
Car dies at 3 rpm’s, mechanic says it’s a faulty computer and that it is a very well known problem with this year of Chevy Cruze. I have to have the computer replaced.
For about a year now my 2014 Chevy Cruze’s steering wheel will lock up for a few seconds while I am driving (at speeds up to 80MPH) - which is extremely dangerous. When this happens, several lights will then pop up on my dashboard and messages are shown saying “service power steering” “service traction control”. The radio turns off, the lights inside the car turn off, and the back up camera stops working. The engine light has been on and will not go off. I have already replaced the transmission and the starter as well as the fuel pump. I was told by my mechanic to just get rid of the car as it has way too many issues to even attempt repairing. I once ran over a curb and popped a tire when the steering wheel locked up. Every time I start my car there is a message that say “roll down driver window and roll back up” which I do not understand. This seems to be happening to several people. I am very disappointed and scared to be driving this car.
car is hard to start after getting gas and transmission does not operate correctly to get up to speed from an intersection the engine revs to 7000 RPM to get up to 40MPH and several times coming close to being run into at times transmission did not work put shifter in drive accelerate and nothing suddenly transmission engaged and the car bolted forward
